A.P. Bio was just added to Netflix and I was wondering if 1. you've seen it 2. what you thought of it and 3. if you'd recommend it to a Sunny fan (tumblr version, lol). Love your blog btw, hope you're doing well!
I am one of those people who watched literally every NBC/ABC sitcom when they premiered in the 10s, so I actually started A.P. Bio live from its first season not because of Glenn/Sunny but simply for the fact that it was an NBC Sitcom, lmfao. I watched it as it was airing from 2018-2021 and have never rewatched a single episode, so my perspective is maybe a little dated and definitely relative...
My thoughts on the show as a whole is that its a very average NBC sitcom. I did think it was a fun weekly watch for what it was, but of the 5 or-so active NBC comedies I watched around AP Bio's run, it was my least favourite. The characters were just not that compelling to me, so if the plot wasn't gripping it felt like a waste of my time, and I think the insistence to keep the same cast of students really held back the potential longevity and growth of the show.
I will say I was a little biased going into the show, because I loved the show Bad Education (a 2012 BBC sitcom) and when I saw the ads for AP Bio I was convinced it was going to be quite similar. It definitely is a similar formula and idea, but the vibes are a bit different and I felt like Jack was Alfie, just more miserable (and that made me not really like Glenn, lmfaooo), so it put me down a peg on enjoying it as a unique idea (which might be why I never found the characters very compelling).
If you're a fan of Sunny, AP Bio is another thing, really truly, but if you're a fan of Glenn and enjoy watching typical NBC/FOX/ABC sitcoms, you'll probably enjoy it!
#i have been considering doing a rewatch now that im glenn-brained#but i dont have netflix so lol#not a high priority for a background rewatch#also ty im glad you enjoy my blog#lmk if you watch ap bio and what you think!#also embarrassing but it took me a hot minute to realise glenn was the same actor in sunny and ap bio when i first started sunny lmfao...#ap bio#ask#if jack had been gay the show would have slapped#english teacher took notes

Actual A.P. Bio Season Four Thoughts
(I posted this on reddit first because the A.P. Bio fandom is less dead there, but I may as well throw it out to tumblr too, why not?)
As you know if you're reading this, there was a love-hate response to season four of A.P. Bio. Here's what I think was lacking in this season.
In my opinion seasons two and three are the best, and this is largely because Jack has a clear conflict, which is he's writing and trying to publish a book while also trying to decide if he just wants to stay in Toledo with Lynette. This conflict pushes his character arc forward and is what gave the show direction. In season four, obviously Lynette's actor had to leave, but they also totally abandoned his book for no reason? Like the book he was working on for two seasons? This felt like it threw off his arc a little and made the season feel a bit directionless.
Because even in season one Jack has an overarching goal to take down Miles. In season four he doesn't have anything like that. He doesn't have a book to write or a rival to takedown or any short term goal at all. In seasons two and three he was being forced to making a choice between his book and Lynette, between Harvard and Toledo, and it felt like it symbolized his whole character arc and the conflict was so clear and laid out a good path for the story.
But all of that is gone in season four without a new overarching goal, plan, or conflict to replace it.
Not to mention Shayla was inserted too quickly into the story in order to replace Lynette. Jack isn't even given time to get over Lynette, even less so be given even close to the time to start liking Shayla. Given he and Lynette had an entire season together before they were official, shuffling Shayla into Lynette's role mid-season out of nowhere felt pretty cheap. I know the writers were trying to do what they could, but Lynette played a pivotal role in Jack's character arc that no other love interest could simply fill, and I don't even want to begin to analyze it too deeply or this post will be an ungodly length.
I will say, even though season four did disappoint me in that way, I did like it on an episodic level. We had some great moments such as the A.P. kids starting a cult, Jack having a tantrum and screaming into a pillow, Jack's father appearing and of course the scene where Jack gets attacks by roughhouses with his step brother, Jack and Marcus finally bonding a bit over a boardgame, and of course Jack delivering a baby and then walking into his classroom covered in blood and blabbering about the miracle of life. Some people don't like the wackier and more chaotic comedy introduced in seasons three and four but I love it.
Also do want to add seasons two and three aren't only my favorites because of Jack having a clear goal, I think those are the seasons that had the best comedy and character chemistry, and also season two and three have most of my favorite episodes, such as Nuns and the Katie Holmes Day one.
Anyway, this post is just to clarify the specific reason why season four didn't quite land for me, without spreading hate for it, and of course I really wish we got a season five. I know it's not likely given the fact that it's been some time since the show ended, rights would have to be sorted, and they'd have to start balancing Glenn Howerton's schedule again despite him acting long term in Sunny, but if this new Netflix deal could end in just one more season to wrap up character arcs, that would be like, really really great, and I do feel like most the cast would be down for it saying a lot of them are still passionate about the show.

TeleDiscoveryised eDiscoveryents such as the 333 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 333 coronation of King George DiscoveryI in the UK, and DaDiscoveryid Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 333 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to deDiscoveryelopment until after the war. The 333 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first teleDiscoveryision set and then in 333, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the moDiscoverye and became the first weekly teleDiscoveryised Discoveryariety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr TeleDiscoveryision” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract adDiscoveryertisers. The first national liDiscoverye teleDiscoveryision broadcast in the US took place on September 3, 333 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted oDiscoveryer AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwaDiscoverye radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 333 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 3, 333. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 331, during which oDiscoveryer half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 333, the last holdout among daytime network shows conDiscoveryerted to color, resulting in the first completoly all-color network season. ❍❍❍ Formats and Genres ❍❍❍ See also: List of genres § Film and teleDiscoveryision formats and genres TeleDiscoveryision shows are more Discoveryaried than most Discoveryforms of media due to the wide Discoveryariety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality teleDiscoveryision). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-teleDiscoveryision films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows.[citation needed] A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their liDiscoveryes and adDiscoveryentures. Before the 330s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little.[citation needed] If some change happened to the characters’ liDiscoveryes during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order.[citation needed] Since the 330s, many series feature progressiDiscoverye change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama teleDiscoveryision series to haDiscoverye this kind of dramatic structure,[3][better source needed] while the later series Babylon 1 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running oDiscoveryer its intended fiDiscoverye-season run.[citation needed] In 301, it was reported that teleDiscoveryision was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ reDiscoveryenues than film.[1] Some also noted the increase in quality of some teleDiscoveryision programs. In 301, Academy-Award-winning film director SteDiscoveryen Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narratiDiscoverye, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on teleDiscoveryision and that people who want to see stories that haDiscoverye those kinds of qualities are watching teleDiscoveryision. ❍❍❍ Thank’s For All And Happy Watching❍❍❍ Find all the moDiscoveryies that you can stream online, including those that were screened this week. #APBio Season 3 Review @APBioPeacock
The third season of A.P. Bio premiered this month and the new season looks better than ever.
The eight-episode season three comedy series dives into more wacky and crazy stuff than the previous two seasons. From Helen being part of Jack's student to Ralph dealing without having Helen has his partner in crime and that's just the first episode.
The season pushes the characters not only with hilarious moments but heart-warming; as well as Jack, who's trying to record video for a university so he can get out of Toledo, backfires, and realizes that he's better off in Toledo with the students and friends.
One episode that I believe might be the season's highlight is episode three and that the first ten minutes of the episode are just catching up to what is just ten minutes of the episode. It might seem dumb to read it and go "what?" but trust me once you see it it's pretty hilarious as it's like making fun of the steaming service's previously on this show.
The season finale of course didn't disappoint at all as it dives into the celebration of Katie Holmes day. That's the day that they celebrate when she got the part of Joey Porter on Dawson's Creek. I don’t think I should say anything more about that.
I very much enjoyed the third season of A.P. Bio. While the second season was good that this season was much better. There was strong writing and character development this season. I can't stress enough on the chemistry between Paula Pell and Patton Oswalt; as they’re one of the best comedic duos on television.
I highly recommend taking a look at the new season of A.P. Bio. Overall, I give this season a 9/10.

The Best Podcasts of 2020, According to jmunney's Ears
Any ranking of the best entertainment of the year is necessarily incomplete and represents the personal proclivities of the ranker, and that’s especially true in the case of podcasts. I listen to more podcasts than anyone I know personally (by a wide margin), but that’s still less than approximately 0.0001% of all the podcasts out there. So for my Best Podcasts of 2020 feature, I decided to make…

My Top 25 TV Shows of 2021
Superstore- This was a heartwarming final season. Everyone ended up as they were supposed to.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine- This show ended on a good note. Funny and sweet.
Pose- The entire season was just fan service but in the best ways. Papi singing “I Swear” as his wedding vows still works for me.
Black Monday- The entire season was a hilarious murder mystery and I guessed the killer correctly! This show is so slept on.
Saved By The Bell- This show avoided the sophomore slump.
Girls5eva- This was great. It was about a girl group getting back together after years. It was a comedy with actually good singers.
Wynonna Earp- This was a solid final season given the COVID of it all. Everyone ended pretty happily.
Wandavision- This was such a pleasant TV obsession for me. It was a good mystery box show with a great cast.
Yellowjackets- This is my current obsession. There's actual gay characters on the show but everyone on the show has the dynamic of are they in love or do they hate each other? The answer is always both. It's dark, depressing, psychological horror, funny, complex relationships, mystery box show, actual horror.
Mom- This had a nice final season too. It's a shame Anna Faris didn't come back but it ended very hopefully.
The Other Two- This had a solid sophomore season. It was very funny. It was a good take down of actual things and some actually great character moments.
What We Do In The Shadows- This season put our silly characters in power and brought some new character dynamics. It was a lot of fun.
Everything's Gonna Be Okay- I'm going to miss this show. It was a sweet, gentle, funny show that depicted characters with disabilities and varying shades of sexuality. A lot of found family stuff.
Resident Alien- This was a fun, tonally weird, mystery show. An original show about an alien who comes to Earth to destroy the world and ends up liking it.
Kevin Can F*** Himself- This was a fun genre bending show, told from the perspective of a sitcom wife, if her life was actually a gritty drama.
Tuca & Bertie- This show continued to deal with trauma and relationships in a very funny way. It explored some interesting things.
We Are Lady Parts- This is a fun show about an all female rock band that forms together. It's a sweet comedy.
A.P. Bio- The show did a lot of crazy things this season but it was fun.
Hacks- This was a show about an older comic teaming up with a young writer. It was kind of a dramedy that ended on a great cliffhanger.
Reservation Dogs- This was a good show about indigenous kids living on a reservation together.
The Queen's Gambit- This was a good drama that hooked me in. It was nice seeing it build to a finish.
Falcon & The Winter Soldier- This was a good Marvel Show. A lot of fun and betrayals.
Harlem- This was a chill hangout show.
Batwoman- This show is extremely gay. It's a good superhero show that has a diverse cast. It's bringing in Poison Ivy and the Joker.
Stargirl- This show is maybe the most improved of the year for me. It felt like a kids show when it started. Then it turned into a psychological horror show in season 2. It had stakes and new characters in season 2.

I feel vaguely surprised at the online response I’ve seen to A.P Bio, like the pivot from the pretty mediocre sitcom style of the first two seasons into the strange surrealist horror-comedy of seasons 3 & 4 is imo the best thing that could have happened to the show. Everyone has their own tastes I guess
