Khm...khm... before I start my story for today, let me recommend a song that is going to match the atmosphere of a surreal Russian family gathering. And let's begin....

Дорогой читатель or I guess I could also say dear readers,

Today, I embarked on what I thought (actually not, just kidding to make it sound more interesting lmao) would be a simple journey to visit my relatives. Too much... eeerrhmm.. little did I know, it would turn into an adventure that blurred the lines between reality and the surreal.....Бизнес как обычно!

The day began like any other, with the sun casting its warm embrace over my lovely town. I felt a weird or (maybe normal) mixture of excitement and trepidation, but I was eager to see my relatives - yet wary of the unpredictable (shoulda said VERY PREDICTABLE) nature of family gatherings.

Upon arriving at their home formed of marvelous blocks of concrete, I was greeted with hugs and laughter, but something felt pleasantly menacing, as if the air itself crackled with the dark side of the Force. My cousins, aunts, grandma.... oh well easier to say вся моя семья... yeah all my fam.... notorious for their mischievous antics, wasted no time in making me try the famous mashed potato моей тэтки... uhm my aunt.

As I leant over the pot to ladle out a huge chunk for myself...wait...I ladled out all of it xaxa... my aunt seemed to lean in closer, her arms twisting and contorting like ancient guardians of some forgotten realm. I seriously did not feel (believe me, will ya?!) a shiver run down my spine, but I pushed aside my unease, eager to embrace my lunch.

That's when my relatives unveiled their grand plan – to turn me into the mashed potato hair princess. (Obviously, in their minds... as they kept silent.. but let's continue) At first, I laughed off their absurd idea (I'm lying rn xaxa), but as they caught me off guard.... while I was looking for a spoon btw... and began to adorn me with dollops of creamy mashed potatoes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of classic Russian fam betrayal act.

With each dollop of mashed potato placed on my head, I felt myself slipping into a surreal dreamworld, where anything was possible and reality was merely a suggestion. And when I caught sight of my reflection in a nearby mirror, I couldn't help but marvel at the whimsical masterpiece my aunt had created. I wanted to shout: Давай пошли! Мои волосы…. Ааааа.... but losing the momentum in surrealism did not grant me the permission to shout.

Amidst the chaos and laughter, there was a sense of bittersweet nostalgia, a fleeting reminder that moments like these were precious and all too fleeting. As the last clean hair strands dipped below the mashed potato horizon, all my hair danced in the sunlight of the dining room, I found myself cherishing the simple joy of being surrounded by loved ones, even if it meant embracing my inner visible mashed potato hair princess persona.

And so, dear diary, as I sit here beneath the antique catchpenny chandelier, my hair not only adorned with mashed potatoes, but wrapped up into a massive bulwark... and, of course, my heart full of laughter, I can't help but wonder – whether the chandelier is going to greet the top of my massive bulwark (yes, pictured above) with a thunderous smooch when I stand up right at the very same geographic coordinates where the chandelier is located at.

Aaaahh... should I push my UNluck by executing this set of vertical movement??? Perhaps reality is just a canvas, waiting to be painted with the brushstrokes of our wildest dreams.

Ok so, thinking about this post, specifically the "dumb au where the Uchiha just really like Kakashi for some reason (clan stuff??)" part, and it got me thinking;

AU where the Hatake's have a reputation for being "good luck charm" to the point where some clans view them as genuine symbols of prosperity, and marrying one / getting one to join your family in some way is supposed to bless you, your family, and your fields for as long as they remain yours

Maybe their white chakra specifically is actually some sort of good luck thing? Idk, but like, there's that abstract idea.

Could totally mash this in with the Sexyman Sakumo agenda and say part of his insane popularity was bc of the rumors about how his bloodline limit is supposed to give fortune to any who might tie him down

Oooo what if after his mission gone wrong, the rumors and reputation twists and suddenly people are saying no, they got it opposite, the Hatake's bring bad luck

Then Sakumo offs himself and Kakashi suddenly has to live with the reputation of being a bad luck charm

Could be fun.

Anyways, rewinding:

Gonna think ab the warring states with this idea first.

So, half Hatake Tobirama, right? Senju Butsama marrying a Hatake woman would be such a power move for him,,,

Oh my god wait ok: Something about the Senju clan and their planty stuff, then marrying a Hatake woman said to bring prosperity to their "clan and crops" is so good.

And then she also goes and proves it right by popping out the first mokuton baby in forever

So fun !!

I like the idea that their luck is said to specifically be in their white chakra, so like. None of the Senju boys being born with white chakra and their dad being upset by it bc that means the luck wasn't passed down. But Tobirama, being an albino, looks pretty Hatake so maybe some of the charm passed onto him...?

(It hadn't, but there's some fun to be had in the belief that it had.)

Tobirama never marries in part because he has no interest in it, and in part because many of those who approached him only wanted him for his supposed 'Hatake Luck'

You could so easily turn this into sort of a parody to a blessed eyes au by rolling with Tobirama having the social flex of being a Hatake, a good luck charm in human form.

Skipping back ahead to Kohona back to Kakashi— umm supposed "bad luck" Hatake Kakashi (to the general population of Kohona) being fuckin pspsps'ed at by the older clans who know Hatake's are good luck and are so trying to get him to join their clan (and bring them luck)

He's an orphan now!!! That means he's free realestate!!! Pspsps cmere little boy come let the nice old clan people adopt you teehee <3

This was meant to be a funny silly lighthearted thing but I can see several ugly paths to take with that actually. Let's stick to lighthearted fun for now tho

Ummm Obito actually survives the rock fall bc of Kakashi's Hatake luck, pass it on. He so should have died but he didn't and it's bc of Kakashi taking him as his "best friend" and suddenly boom, luck.

Ooo maybe when they swap eyes, uh, yk, Kakashi's eye has a bit of white chakra in it and now it's in Obito.

So now Obito suddenly has this double conundrum of "physically has a Hatake's white chakra in him (in his eye, even, which is a culturally and spiritually significant body part to highlight)

And he's considered family by Kakashi, who Kakashi thinks of (and unknowingly sends good luck towards) every day,,,,

Obito's plans keep going so well even when he does a half assed job at them bc of the fucking Hatake blessing Kakashi unknowingly placed on him, pass it on

Alternativley: silly fluffy 'everythings good and nothing hurts' au that's just older Kakashi being aggressively pursued by people both bc hes hot and also the Hatake luck.

Mothers want to adopt him to get him into their clan and fathers want to fuc—

the other day a kid was using ketchup to make elaborate swirls in his potato mash and i said "nice artwork! abstract expressionism?" and he gave me a deeply unimpressed look then turned to his friend and remarked, "great. he's got jokes."

To Further Elaborate... i don't think hawkeye is a brat for the sake of being a brat, because he's never been a "rebel without a cause" and doesn't pick fights just for the thrill of it; he has a very openly stated motive and makes good on his very clear promises to start shit if lines get crossed.

like at the risk of sounding like an insufferably pompous intellectual, i think of him being bratty in bed with mulcahy as an extension of his tendency to be a total enabler of mulcahy's rebellious streak and help mulcahy get in the habit of asserting himself. hawkeye very much wants mulcahy to learn how to put his foot down and say No to things he doesn't think are right.

with that goal in mind, hawkeye is very happy to be the most obnoxiously bratty sub so mulcahy can practice saying no by telling him "no, hawkeye, i'm not going to put you in a half-nelson just because you're whining". and then if mulcahy caves anyway and gives hawkeye whatever he wants, that works great too. it's a win/win!

his undiagnosed playlist is mostly instrumentals. could represent how disconnected he feels from reality, could represent him repressing his emotions/ignoring his issues/masking his true self/whatever. you get it

the non instrumentals on undiagnosed are really upsetting. was lowkey crying listening to Black Holes In The Sand. gives credence to the disconnected from reality theory

also Come Over. is the vibe self hatred, self pity, something else? lots of family issues certainly but we'll get to that later

first song on treatment, What Do You Think Will Happen Now? feels like affirmations and something he's trying to convince himself of rather than something he yet believes. prefacing the playlist with a new positive worldview, representing his journey with getting treatment? perhaps?

he immediately has more weird noises on treatment. Hocket for Two Voices: I.— is very short and i am sure there is lovely musical theory behind it that i am not smart enough to comprehend but it is kinda just weird noises to the untrained ear. A Boy Called Conjuror is also like this. a love of weird noises transcends therapy!

I'm 89 falls into a similar category. he just listens to people talk. he is clearly still quite lonely

there is still a good amount of instrumentals on treatment, but the vibe is Decidedly different. big Maybe It's All Going To Be Okay energy. Forever Held made me cry the first time i heard it

most of the songs are not instrumental though! very lyrical. something about him approaching and processing his issues.

the songs about love on treatment. All The Right Reasons is very deeply moving Made me cry a bit. Love Love Love actually made me take my headphones off stand up and walk across my room but maybe i'm just too mountain goats pilled

side note for that: the song called Love on undiagnosed is an instrumental. love was something abstract and impossible to define or put into words before, but now it feels a lot more real.

It's Only A Paper Moon was very moving. he just needed someone to believe in him

Because the Night. i laughed. even treated modern hickey yearns for cannibalism as a metaphor for love. i'm joking. mostly

we still got christian themes in treatment! they are, however, less overt. like it's become a part of something else and can peacefully exist alongside him, rather than being so blatant and forceful. the jeff buckleys, father john misty (kinda.), etc

SPEAKING OF THE JEFF BUCKLEYS AND THE FATHER JOHN MISTY. New Year's Prayer is a heavy hitter. it's hard to pin down the exact vibes but it's somewhere between coping and accepting. if you get it. and Bored in the USA is one of the most reminscent of show hickey's pysche, imo. it's steeped in fear and regret and a resigned kind of hope

in line with the religion stuff. the orchestral piece, Gnossienne: No. 3, references gnosticism, a religious doctrine that supposes divinity can only be found in rejecting the material world (because it is evil) and the god that created it (because it is evil), and instead finding salvation in some secret hidden being through a different kind of spirituality. lol

Nobody's Fault but My Own is kind of heartbreaking honestly. it shows how much he Is healing and Is processing and Is taking accountability and changing the way he views the world. one of the most impactful imo

Kansas City felt very reminscent of show hickey's relationship with london

Mercy Street. so much to unpack. the daddy issues. the remorse. the begging for forgiveness.

even more family issues because the last song on the treatment playlist is My Father's House. it felt kind of like an ultimate culmination of the thesis of treatment being him facing his issues and being forced to confront and process them. there's an element of being too late to right the wrongs of your past, but there's also the element of accepting that, and forgiving yourself

now. the radioheads on both albums. both second to last song on their respective playlist. How to Dissappear Completely on undiagnosed, How to Dissappear into Strings on treatment. the first one was kind of viscerally upsetting and felt very in line with how disconnected the entire undiagnosed playlist was, almost like he doesn't feel real. one of the few lyrical songs on a mostly instrumental playlist is about how much he's Not a part of the world around him. smth smth the only thing he can put into words is that he has no words. however, How to Dissappear into Strings is Not! lyrical! it is entirely instrumental, on an otherwise predominantly lyrical playlist. like he's not thinking about dissapearing anymore, or he can no longer put words to it. it's still there, some things can't be magically cured and made go away forever, but it's less, now.

aspects of both playlists being very similar, sharing sounds and themes and artists, felt very much like healing not being linear, and treatment not entirely changing who you are. it's clearly the same person behind each playlist, with different experiences shaping them differently, but the same nonetheless. it's really beautiful

and to close out, i just want to say how meaningful this whole experience with hickey's playlists was to me. it was genuinely so truly truly moving to witness a character that is clearly severely mentally ill be given the grace and opportunity to heal and overcome their struggles, rather than it being homogenized into the rest of them. so often characters like this are not treated with the same potential to overcome, and are condemned to just being Like That forever, as if their struggles are inseparable from their essence and something that defines them. they are wholly characterized by being quirky and insane and inconsolably evil. but that clearly was not how this was treated at all (and never how hickey has been treated by the show), and being able to witness hickey's journey across these two playlists was very cathartic to me, and i appreciate it. a lot.

Klinger’s cross-dressing functions in two distinct ways: as a stance of military dissent within the world of the show; and as a portrayal of cross-dressing in mainstream media. This paper will analyze the character of Klinger and his use of cross-dressing as personal preference and political dissent; drawing on the relevant histories of drag in the military and media of the 20th century.

Note: there was so much more i wanted to add to this essay but my word limit was 2.5k (evilly small) and so my wings were clipped. I am going to try and work on this over the summer to talk about the things that I left out so my professors would not have me committed. (but obvs i did slip a liiiitle bit of Hawkeye is gay in this). So pleaseee don't call me out for specific beliefs in this because i had to water down/not talk about trans Klinger or the paper would be like 100k....

hello! i love silk and dagger and i’m getting ready to run a oneshot of it, and i wondered if you had a bit more guidance; what does a typical S&D session look like? going through daily palace maintenance and upkeep, managing complications, until the scenario starts? when should it start? i know i should be keeping close track of hourglasses, but are they more equivalent to hours or days?

Thank you! I hope this answer isn’t coming too late, I was visiting some friends for my birthday for the past two weeks and only sparsely worked on A.N.I.M. stuff.

Sands and Hourglasses are not really like hours or days, since Drow don’t have a concept of either one of these, they're a deliberately vague measurement of time passing in the game world, even more abstract that Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy’s Ticking Clock. They also don’t really work perfectly yet because the game isn’t finished and we haven’t playtested enough to figure out the exact parameters that should determine when a Sand should pass.

What a session should look like if Silk & Dagger is running correctly (do keep in mind that this is still an alpha so it’s a buggy mess that doesn’t always work as intended yet) is that the first Hourglass starts and there’s chores that need to be done before that Hourglass is up or else the party will start to take penalties. Attempting to complete these chores will often lead to some other stuff going wrong, like the Mistress needing a bath but the pipes aren’t working so now the servants have to fix some kind of plumbing issue too. Some time after a few Sands have passed in that first Hourglass, the actual problem of the “adventure” will show up, whatever it is. The servants and Mistress will have to deal with that while also making sure that all the chores get done and that they don’t embarrass themselves.

During moment-to-moment gameplay, play it like you would basically any “trad” “challenge game” TTRPG. It probably helps to have a map and tokens you can move different servants and Drow to various rooms of the palace with. The “camera” or “spotlight” should bounce between different groups of PCs frequently, as this makes for really funny comedy. An example from one of our own playtest sessions involved the Drow Mistress telling her guest about the exquisite surface food meal her servants are preparing. Cut to the servants in the kitchen panicking because the pantry was crushed in a cave-in and they’re trying to make sandwiches out of dirty bread and raw, mashed pheasant with no way to cook them without a working stove. The manservant from the surface is rehearsing a made-up spiel about how this is the snack of kings on the surface, while the elf servant (who happens to have lightning powers) is rubbing her hands together like a defibrillator and pressing them on the sandwiches to “cook” them the only way she can think to when the food was supposed to be served almost a whole Sand ago.

You want your Drow and servants to make it and for their reputations to survive, so there’s an element of system mastery and challenge to the player to build them well and take advantage of their strengths to see them through this social disaster, but the challenges they face will make success a tall order, and the comedy and satisfaction lies in their floundering and in the clever ways they finesse these situations.

So, do y'all remember the Adventure Time Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft back in like, 2017? Me and some friends have been messing around with that map lately and revamping some of the areas we consider a bit lacking with creative mode, and for me that was the Treehouse! I got ~100 reference pics from various episodes and tried to put it all together into the most autistically accurate Treehouse I could, and I wanna share it here cause I'm really proud of it!

Feel free to skip the text and just look at the pretty pictures. Cause when I say "autistically accurate" I MEAN IT. It's MY blog and I get to choose the special interest. :p

The exterior is mostly unchanged from the official map, but I added the orange tree from My Two Favorite People, and the pond. Also the log where Finn sits and thinks in Gotcha!

Yes, I will be mentioning specific episodes like this often.

I didn't make the Grotto, because I'm not THAT crazy, but I did make the pond really deep and filled it with the sort of things you see when Finn swims down there in Beyond the Grotto.

The first thing you see when you actually go inside is the treasure room, of course! The official map's treasure room is so small and sad, but I made it more accurate to how it looks in the show, with a ton of ladders and platforms going upwards until you get to the kitchen.

Speaking of, at this point I should show the layout I based the rooms' positions on...

I put this together myself and I THINK it's the most consistently accurate layout... of course, it's a cartoon, sometimes you'll get stuff like the bathroom in the left branch for the sake of a gag in Dentist, and characters will frequently run offscreen and then teleport to another room, BUT this is what I observed to be the most common layout seen when the camera will actually follow the characters through doors and ladders and etc.

Interestingly, the ladder in the trunk actually seems to connect to the kitchen, which is HIGHER than the living room, and then you have to go down a separate ladder to get to the living room. Confusing! But it checks out.

So yeah, climbing up past the treasure room takes you right to the kitchen! Some specific details to call out here are: - The picture of PB with the two spatulas is from Abstract, and I painted it myself in-game via a mod! Unfortunately I didn't get around to other paintings yet, they're a bit annoying to make. - The urn supposedly containing Margaret's ashes, from Conquest of Cuteness, is on one of the shelves. - There isn't a single torch in this whole build! It's carefully lit up with candles, just like the Treehouse should be! - There's actually this easily missable tiny room connected to the kitchen, seen in the last pic, that has another trapdoor and also the door to the bathroom. I believe that first shows up in Incendium and then stays around forever. - The cooler is entirely full of eggs, like how Finn exclusively buys pre-boiled eggs when grocery shopping without Jake, in Temple of Mars.

The bathroom! Funnily enough, the bathroom might be the least consistent room in the whole Treehouse. It's just made up of a toilet, bathtub, and sink, but these three things shuffle around the room entirely at random from episode to episode. In this sort of situation, I consider the most accurate way to handle it to be the same as the show: just put them wherever! So I did that.

That door in the kitchen leads to this room, connected by a bridge. I just called it the "bucket room" because it has a bucket that Finn and Jake ride in in Rainy Day Daydream, although that episode has a pretty wacky Treehouse in general.

I hooked up a hand crank with the Create mod, so you can use it like an elevator kinda.

Down the other ladder in the kitchen gets you to, the living room! This room's just a small round circle in some episodes, but others have it a bit bigger.

That bookshelf is there in Jake Suit, and has Dream Journal of a Boring Man, Vol 12 on it. Since one of the decor mods I'm using lets me place down books, I copied the 3 excerpts we get to see from it down into a written book, so it's even actually there!

A really inconsistent aspect of the living room is this weird platform with a door. I can only remember it appearing in In Your Footsteps and Three Buckets, but maybe I've just always missed it? I made it lead back into the trunk, so you can use it as a shortcut up to the kitchen.

Also over here is this workbench, which to my knowledge suddenly shows up in season 8 and becomes a REALLY REALLY consistent part of the living room?? Seriously, it's in Two Swords, Horse and Ball, Abstract... It's suddenly all over the place!! But I genuinely can't recall it existing before that. Am I crazy or is this an actual thing?

Anyway, connected by bridge to the living room is the den! Surprisingly, even though it barely even shows up in any episodes, the den is SUPER messy and lived in. I tried to reflect this by jamming as many decorative blocks as I could in there.

Also for some reason this fireplace doubles as a pizza oven in Abstract? Yeah, Abstract's got a really silly Treehouse. But it was easy enough to slot in there, so I did!

Way back to the kitchen and upwards: the bedroom! I always thought the bedroom was so tiny and cramped, but a good few episodes actually show it as pretty spacious! I tried to hit a good balance.

The pictures hung up around Finn's bed are a blurry, badly taken picture of Huntress Wizard, and a clearly old picture of Flame Princess. They're both cute choices for Finn's future, and are my girlfriends' respective favorite characters, so I included both :D

I also included the attic, which as far I know ONLY appears in Dad's Dungeon. I think it's neat, though, so I put it here. It'll be nice for survival mode storage.

If you exit through the attic, you can get to the cloud that Finn and Jake have tied down for its rainwater. The dripstone on the underside looks a bit ugly, but it makes it functional! If you scoop water out of any of the cauldrons with a bucket, it'll slowly refill with water from the cloud!

We're nearing the end! Here's a back shot of things. I added the power lines, Neptr's cave, and the farm. For some reason, Holly Jolly Secrets has a second, distinct set of powerlines, but those would be ugly so I didn't include them.

Lastly, the chicken coop, as seen in BMO Noire and mentioned in Three Buckets, featuring Lorraine. Who looks like Boobafina in this texture pack, which is silly.

I'm... honestly not very satisfied with the coop's placement, as BMO Noire shows it being out on a rarely-seen branch, but this is the best I could do without a major facelift on the tree itself.

So, yeah! That's the image limit. There's a good few extra details scattered around here and there, but I'll leave it at that. I hope this is as fun to read as it was for me to write :D
