THE BOYS!

The chestnut boy is BOE Lady's Protector, and he has just reached his third birthday, just like the girls had in the former update. And the angry one in the middle is BOE Cider Safari, who came back to us a few months ago to get some rutine in shows and earn some points, before I have to find a new home for him.

LADIES HAVE ARRIVED!

Two new horses just joined the stable! One is young girl Lad's Guardian, and the other one is RDEC Mandalaya. Laya is a 15 year old KWPN, who has mainly been bought because her stable was closing down, and no one wanted a 15 year old mare. Even less pay for her, even if she has a portion of very good show results. She is bred by Carmen Raymond, whom we all know and love, and we are happy to have her at Echo International Jumpers. Maybe I can even convince Vivian to breed her, when she can't enter shows anymore.

Guardian is a young lady with a big portion of personality. She is after BOE Lady's Protector and HE Strawberry Daiquiri. Her lines are originally KWPN on her sire's side, and Selle Francais on her dam's side, but she has been registred as Selle Francais, which makes her the perfect addition to the stable, since we already have two other horses of that breed.

With Guardian that brings our mare count to 4 + a leased mare, which is funny for a Stud Station, but I just roll with it honestly. Vivian buys what she buys, and I just go along. We also got snow again - can you believe it? Not a single snowday in January and now we have snow again? - so there's that obstacle. Guess we will just have to use the indoor arenas, until it's gone. I hope you guys have less snow than we have though, because this is a nightmare! xD

Steelmasher kind of wrinkles her nose as you talk with your mouth full, Mr, but it's a more amused expression.

"'Parachute Intelligence'? You must've been talking to those ladies at Spines and Hoards. They mean well, but sometimes they don't have very keen listening skills. Paragon Intelligence. They've been coming in troops for about three months now, exploring mostly. A group of them had been hanging around town here, but they've gone quiet as of late." She scratches her scaly chin in thought. "Really, the only one I remember seeing at all recently is Teo. He's down at the excavation site, usually-- really likes rocks and bones. He went nuts over that skeleton just outside of town when he first got here, now that I think about it.

"That skeleton is one of our Protectors," she continues. "Before the trumpets three months ago, all of our major cities had a Protector assigned. Big blokes with swords. But three months ago, a trumpet clear as day rang out in the skies and a couple of the Protectors got killed. Not sure by what. Dragons fell outta the sky, too. And we've heard that the southwestern coast is a no-go now. I've heard someone say something about blood, but I'm not sure how they meant it."

@dearlittlefandom-stalker Your comment catches Boe slightly off guard. "Well, it's just the nature of my being, really," he says. "I can't pull my arm off like a party trick, mind you--" He's waggling his finger as he says this, but the hand pops off. He sighs, grabs the hand off the floor and waves it before he puts it back on. "This is what happens when you spend death in the bog. Have you tried the chocolate cake here? It's to die for!"

The Story So Far

Leaving the body of the giant and heading north brings you to the small town of Eldige, a settlement that seems to be populated by mostly dragonborn folk. This city is home to the impressive Dragon's Tale Tavern and a rather large library-slash-bookstore called Spines and Hoards.

They've been having some bandit troubles lately (found on the notice board) and offer coin to anyone who can investigate. The note on the board mentioned most of the trouble seemed to be coming from the north end of town.

A new map was acquired at Spines and Hoards. It looks like it's had recent updates added in fresh ink (the black/smoky peninsula and the red area).

@mrtobenamedlater and @dearlittlefandom-stalker, y'all are heading into the tavern to meet up with Pep. You'll see her character at the bar talking to a strange dude who keeps... losing limbs and putting them back on?

There are some empty tables around that you can sit at, a few folks are sitting around the fire playing cards and the like, somewhere a lute is being played with fervor.

@pepperonyscience has asked the interesting fellow Boe about the dead skeleton south of town.

"Oh that?" He says this and waves a hand dismissively. "That's just the Protector. Kind of a sad thing, but what can you do when they decide to kill each other? Nobody ever said anything about us protecting them. By the way, have you had the chocolate cake here? It's absolutely to die for! And I would know. But those Paragon fellows came out here asking questions about the Protectors and now you're asking questions. We just don't have the answers..."

The bartender slips over and whispers to you, "That's our mayor, by the way. We're not really sure when or how he got to be mayor, but he doesn't try to change things too much around here, so we let him be." When he turns and leaves, you find he's left a flaky pastry in front of you free of charge.

Sucker bet. The lure of Renegade Deposed Lord President Romanadvratnelundar going back there with The Doctor will be too great. Except they're not bringing the the old Time Lords back this time. They've had their chances time and again, and muffed it time and again. And come close with their warring with the Daleks to destroying reality itself time and again. But what to do now? SOMEONE'S got to protect the web of time. At least before some other temporally active race that's even less principled (if that's possible) than the Old Gallifreyans were shows up. The Doctor, immortal as they are, can still be killed permanently if someone tries hard enough. Disintegration is a little hard to regenerate from after all. They can't protect everything there is all by themselves.

But when The Master destroyed every living organic thing on Gallifrey, that pretty much destroyed any chance of using what was left there to loom up some new ones. Where do you get the genetic material to loom up some properly principled Time Lords? Who's gonna defend reality against whatever's going to rise up to fill the power vacuum the Master left behind him when he destroyed the elder Time Lord race.

The ambitions of races fallen to evil will never sleep. Like the man said. Evil doesn't sleep. It's everywhere. That's the point of it. (Or something like that. That fella wrote a few episodes too as I recall.) SOMEONE is gonna screw something up big time without some intervening power in place. Reality demands it. Some fool's going to do something extremely foolish. And whether it's by incompetence, hubris or straight up sheer diabolical ambition, someone's going to do something that will threaten time and space itself. AGAIN.

Who can you trust? Certainly not the Celestial Intervention Agency, or whatever they're calling themselves nowadays in Gallifreyan Relative Time. (GRT?) The Doctor and Romana certainly wouldn't trust them to be left in charge.

Well, there's some entirely worthy material to get started with. And sources of Gallifreyan DNA to start with if you're willing to look.

First, there is no chance that every last Gallifreyan was destroyed. The chances that EVERY Gallifreyan was on the planet when the Master killed it are ludicrous. There'd be expatriate non-Time Lord Sheboogans out there who happened to be off planet. (See: Alderaan.) And that's not even getting into the idea of other Renegades. Starting with Susan Foreman, or Drax. And that's not counting the nefarious ones.

Next, there's near Gallifreyans who have other advantages that mere humanoids wouldn't. People like River Song, Adam Smith, Lady Me, Clara Oswald or Jack Harkness/The Face of Boe? If we're getting Romanadvoratnelundar, or some regeneration of her thereof, it'd be silly to assume that Leela was not ascended to some Gallifreyan form. If only to be her President's constant protector. And Andred's. She wouldn't settle for dying and leaving them defenseless. So you'd likely have a super-robust survivor of the Mordy Expedition / The Tribe of Sevateem to kick in some genetic goodness.

Who else do they know? Well Romana knows the equivalent Time Lord of another universe entirely. She ought to. She would have put them in power again. The time-sensitive Tharil race. And you better believe that the Tharils would bring some much needed humility and wisdom to the table here. They would know best how power can lead to corrupt decadence, and how it brought them low for a near eternity of enslavement. And they OWE Romana and the Doctor for the part they played in freeing the Tharils from being hunted into servitude.

Then you've got the Doctor themselves. No, I'm not talking about gathering genetic material from the Doctor. They're not exactly Gallifreyan anyway... maybe... If anything the Sheboogans made themselves into whatever The Doctor is in order to regenerate. And it's not like the Doctor's gonna go through all that again. But where do you find a Doctor that might be willing? If you're willing to cross the dimensional barrier, I know one you might find that would be willing to become Gallifreyan again. But only if his girlfriend gets to come too.

If you want to see Tennant again that badly, you go collect Rose Tyler and Other Ten. Even if you can't engineer them into Gallifreyans once more, they can contribute in other ways. Rose was THE BAD WOLF once, and what she did while she was able to see and affect all of time and space may still be in play. And this isn't even getting into all the things Other Ten knows, or what might still be kicking around in his brain. He certainly had some kind of plan once to turn a human into a Time Lord. For good measure, maybe you ought to go collect Dorothy McShane. But don't call her that to her face.

Or maybe you want some actual Gallifreyans to collect some genetic material from. Or even save from the destruction of their planet. There's a place you can go for that. You can go and rescue who you can from the Curator's enigmatic museum piece. A painting in the national gallery on earth called 'Gallifrey Falls No More'.

So you've got a good gene pool to loom with. You still need TT Capsules. So you need to round up anyone with a Tardis of any sort. Me and Clara have one. Drax had one. Iris Wildtyme had one. Jack was growing one in the early 21st century on earth. You could track down any Koschei had hidden about. You could straight up steal some from the CIA themselves. And that's just Gallifreyan Tardises. What about TT tech from other races you can collect? Hell, Ace even had a Motorcycle that could do stuff like that once.

So you've got your new loomed Timelord race, you got your Tardises, and you're looking to do things right again. The New Time Lords are gonna have to get good at this in a hurry before some power hungry race with a vested interest in not letting New Gallifreyans get re-initiated comes along. Or Koschei. Or some surviving Dalek looking to start the war all over again. Or the Black Guardian.

It's not like the Doctor's gonna stay and help. The Oncoming Storm is Gallifrey's Ace in the hole if they need help. Or a black promise of who will come to correct the residents of New Gallifrey should they fall from grace like their predecessors. Besides. They have Ex President Romana for that; along with all kinds of good people to help there. And the Doctor's always made a lousy president anyway. They're far more useful stumbling into trouble around the universe. They've been known to say, 'It's a gift.'

Here with some of the other foals of this year and one of the other dams: Bay Oldenburg Filly BOE Chapline (by RRS Caspian and Opaline HF), Black German Sportspony Colt BOE Flyover (by EIJ Superfly x BOE Barbie Girl) and Chapline's dam Opaline HF along with Protector's dam BOE Fashion Forward.

FIRST BATCH OF BABIES!

Last night we got a whole batch of babies! We now have a total of four babies, and are expecting two more hopefully soon!

BOE Moonlit Debate is the first one up, we just call her Debby. She is a Black (EE aa) Oldenburg filly after dam BOE Mexico Nightmare (my own) and sire Debutant RRC (from Isabell Oaks).

She got a lot of spunk, but mostly stays beside her mom, and is a little nervous when saying hello. But she has just been born and we are weird tall creatures, so I think that's ok! Hopefully she will grow to be as outgoing and social as her mother. She will be trained by Ismael Lehmann.

Next one up is BOE Flyover, also called Sonny. He is not exactly owned by us at Black Onyx Equestrian, as Narcisa (Foremann, our general manager) bought him, even before he was born. He is a Black (EE aa) German Riding Pony colt. He is after our own BOE Barbie Girl and Narcisa's star jumper pony EIJ Superfly, who has just been put into retirement.

Narcisa's hopes and dreams about this colt are to show him in jumping just like his dad, and probably in Dressage too, so we have the chance to use him as stud as he grow older and more experienced, as we breed Dressage focused German Riding Ponies.

BOE Lady's Protector is another baby of ours. As his dam has earned credit and points so very fast, Victor here will be taking over after his dam, when he grows older and more confident. He is a Chestnut Tobiano (ee aa nT) Oldenburg colt, and he is after our own girl BOE Fashion Forward and BOE Ladykiller (also ours).

He is definitely a solo runner. He prefers the company of himself only, and will definitely be a one-person-horse as he grows older. He is very solitary, and has some attitude as he is half thoroughbred AND he is chestnut.

I will be his rider when he grows old enough, and train him from the ground until then.

Last baby up is the other filly in the batch: BOE Chapline, called Chappy or just Chapline. She is a Bay (EE Aa) Oldenburg filly after two grey parents and will probably grey out in time, which is a shame as her shade of bay is quite unique! Her dam is Opaline HF (bred by Ian Salvatore, owned by me) and RRS Caspian (bred by Ola Urban).

She is a girl with lots of energy and attitude bordering on hostile. Very curious, even if she prefers the company of her mother these days. Definitely another one person horse. Narcisa will be taking over her training as she grows older.

THE LADIES

The three first mares from the left has grown up, and into beautiful, mature mares. Or almost mature. They are 3 yo as of today. From left to right we have BOE Moonlit Debate, BOE Alternative Lilypad, BOE Chapline, BOE Alreda and soon to be retired mare BOE Fashion Forward! Her son BOE Lady's Protector will be taking over for her next month.

These are of course not all the mares at our stable, we are missing about six of them in this picture not limited to BOE Brillianta, BOE Floretta, RRS Dantonia and Ciao Bella BL, Sparrow's Dandelion and Kalliope T.
