🎄💾🗓️ Day 4: Retrocomputing Advent Calendar - The DEC PDP-11! 🎄💾🗓️
Released by Digital Equipment Corporation in 1970, the PDP-11 was a 16-bit minicomputer known for its orthogonal instruction set, allowing flexible and efficient programming. It introduced a Unibus architecture, which streamlined data communication and helped revolutionize computer design, making hardware design more modular and scalable. The PDP-11 was important in developing operating systems, including the early versions of UNIX. The PDP-11 was the hardware foundation for developing the C programming language and early UNIX systems. It supported multiple operating systems like RT-11, RSX-11, and UNIX, which directly shaped modern OS design principles. With over 600,000 units sold, the PDP-11 is celebrated as one of its era's most versatile and influential "minicomputers".
Check out the wikipedia page for some great history, photos (pictured here), and more -
And here's a story from Adafruit team member, Bill!
The DEC PDP-11 was the one of the first computers I ever programmed. That program was 'written' with a soldering iron.
I was an art student at the time, but spending most of my time in the engineering labs. There was a PDP-11-34 in the automation lab connected to an X-ray spectroscopy machine. Starting up the machine required toggling in a bootstrap loader via the front panel. This was a tedious process. So we ordered a diode-array boot ROM which had enough space to program 32 sixteen bit instructions.
Each instruction in the boot sequence needed to be broken down into binary (very straightforward with the PDP-11 instruction set). For each binary '1', a diode needed to be soldered into the array. The space was left empty for each '0'. 32 sixteen bit instructions was more than sufficient to load a secondary bootstrap from the floppy disk to launch the RT-11 operating system. So now it was possible to boot the system with just the push of a button.
I worked with a number DEC PDP-11/LSI-11 systems over the years. I still keep an LSI-11-23 system around for sentimental reasons.
Have first computer memories? Post’em up in the comments, or post yours on socialz’ and tag them #firstcomputer #retrocomputing – See you back here tomorrow!

What was the purpose of the panels of blinking lights on those big mid-century computers? Were they showing calculations in progress?
Excellent question, this is one of my favorite subjects! Blinkenlights serve a number of functions. Hollywood tended to use just the lights to make it look like a computer was busy doing something, but real computers had more than just lights on their front panel. Let's walk through a few examples of use cases with photos of computers I've seen over the years at museums and vintage computer festivals:

Some front panels were built to be used for diagnostics. Computers like these were primitive enough that they required constant care and debugging to do their jobs, especially the early vacuum tube machines (everything pictured here is transistorized). You could tell what peripherals were being used, but also check the status of registers, carry flags, status flags, data, various buses, etc. It was also a way to see if a program had "gone off into the weeds" and started doing things that were irregular, possibly due to a software bug, or a problem with the hardware.

On many of these machines, you can enter programs directly into the main memory using the front panel, but it's an incredibly tedious process -- something to be avoided if possible. Consider it a last fallback.

Other times, it's a starting point, which we call "bootstrapping" (this eventually evolved into the term "booting"). You aren't likely to program everything on such a limited interface, but you are more likely to enter in a small program that can tell the computer how to run a more complex peripheral, like a paper tape or punch card reader, or maybe some type of magnetic storage device. Once you can get a program loading off of a larger permanent storage device, you can load up software to interface with a terminal of some kind which is much easier.

Eventually, the microprocessor made home computers a possibility, but many were only equipped with a front panel out of the box. You would have to add in a serial card, more RAM, possibly some ROMs, and either a teletype or glass terminal in order to get a more sophisticated and intuitive interface from the computer, capable of programming in a higher level language. Some were considered more like trainers, or hobbyist devices, and simply lacked that ability, meaning all you got was a front panel with switches and lights.

I made my own front panel to see what the experience was all about:
Then everything changed in 1977, with the introduction of these three machines: the TRS-80 Model I, the Commodore PET 2001, and the Apple II. They were what you might call "appliance computers" and they had no need for a front panel.

Hopefully that answered your question!

Zenin, Zameen, Zyada Garmi
Previous Chapter - [Tumblr/Ao3] A/N: If you’ve ever felt like the underdog in a glass tower, you’re exactly where you need to be. Naoya's ass is his own warning.
You didn’t want to be here.
Not in this glossy Connaught Place rooftop bar pretending to be a Founders Roundtable. Not sipping cucumber-infused water that tasted like regret. Not nodding along to a "panel discussion" about "emerging coffee economies" hosted by a VC firm where all the partners were named Rahul. And definitely not across from Zenin Naoya—who looked like someone that only wears linen, quotes Andrew Tate, and once said, “Feminism is fine, but not in hiring.”
Your team, God help you, was no better.
Gojo had shown up late, hair still wet like he was cast in a Fair & Lovely ad.
Nanami had a migraine before walking in. He was already muttering, “I should’ve stayed in audit.”
Suguru came for “vibe observation” and brought a french press he didn’t let anyone touch.
Sukuna had said the phrase “data-driven chakna strategy.”
And Toji... was already trying to flirt with the bartender.
Zenin leaned forward.
“I respect your hustle,” he said, in the same tone people use when they ask the maid to “just mop one more time na, it’s not clean.”
He grinned like the kind of man who thinks his chacha owning a warehouse counts as vertical integration.
“All I’m saying is—Delhi doesn’t need another caffeine-charged D2C story. It needs culture.”
You took a long sip of your deliberately burnt espresso. No milk. No sugar. Just vibes and vengeance.
“Zenin, the only culture you know is fungus on almond milk.”
Toji choked. Nanami didn’t blink. Suguru smiled like he was watching live theatre. Gojo kept looking at the floor—either embarrassed or hungover. Possibly both. Sukuna was too busy replying to a meme tweet. Ino was trying to hide behind his iPad.
Naoya leaned forward, loafers squeaking against the floor. “I respect your hustle,” he said, in that slick NCR realtor tone. “But your company’s what—bootstrapped? We’re backed by legacy.” It was in the same way people spoke when they ask the maid to “just mop one more time na, it’s not clean.”
Ah yes.
Legacy.
Translation: His bua’s son failed edtech so they gave him a backup coffee brand. His warehouse is on a government lease. His branding team is two cousins from Amity who think Helvetica is a font for "professional meets casual vibe."
You smiled, razor-sharp. “Legacy doesn’t mean shit when your beans are stale and your baristas can’t spell macchiato.”
He tried to play it cool. Chuckled. “Aggression won’t get you a term sheet.”
“No,” you replied. “But my margins will.”
Suguru clinked his spoon against his cup—once. Like a clap.
Even Toji looked impressed.
Then Naoya dropped the bomb. Smug. Like a builder revealing he’d bribed MCD clearance. “We’re launching a franchise in Delhi next month. Flagship store—right across from your South Ex café.”
You blinked.
The man was taking your most profitable zone.
Your vendor pipeline.
Your freaking parking space.
“And,” Naoya continued, “we’ll be rolling out a centralised supply chain. Unlike some ‘craft’ brands who still pay per kilo.”
Gojo sat up. “Wait—that’s Nanami’s Q1 suggestion. You shot that down at the last VC mixer.”
Naoya smiled. “Yeah. But we’re legacy. We get to change our minds.”
Then it got worse.
A pitch deck came up on the screen. Fonts too familiar. Color palette identical. Tagline?
“We don’t serve coffee. We serve clarity.”
The only difference was that it was narrated in English with a fake Gurgaon-accent voiceover and Bollywood Lofi BGM.
Suguru leaned in. “This bastard cloned our whole moodboard.”
Gojo blinked. “With Canva Premium?”
Ino gasped. “Do we sue him? Can we sue?”
Nanami stood. “I’m going to jail. I’m killing him.”
“Toji,” you muttered, eyes never leaving the screen. “Do not assault him inside the venue. I don’t want a repeat of Noida’s F.I.R.”
Toji put the chair down, slowly.
The post-panel networking was even worse.
Naoya swanned up, whiskey in hand, smile tighter than his tailored pants. “I hope the vendors don’t get confused,” he said. “Wouldn’t want them choosing vibe over volume.”
You smiled, deadpan. “They won’t. We pay them in full, not equity dreams.”
He flinched. Turned to Ino. “Loved your Ring Road hoarding. Very... loud.”
Ino blinked. His eye twitched.
“Thanks,” he said with a tight smile. “Your new ad was cool too. You really captured the 1975 Bharat Petroleum aesthetic.”
Naoya walked away.
Everyone stayed.
Everyone plotting.
You assembled the war council.
You: Boss mode. Rage simmering at 140°C.
Nanami: Threatening to call SEBI.
Gojo: Half-listening, still muttering, “He really copied our tagline...”
Suguru: Suggesting a poisoning (unclear if serious).
Ino: Trying to buy all the billboards right next to their ads just to slap condom ads over them.
Sukuna: Sukuna lit a cigarette indoors. “Just give me 4 influencers, 2 weeks, and a DJ.”
Toji: Looked up from his protein bar. “Want me to sleep with someone’s wife? That’s my strength. That’s how we broke Zostel’s marketing team.”
Your black coffee was cold. Your rage was not.
“Alright,” you said, setting your laptop down like a weapon. “Let’s burn this bitch down. In strategy format.”
Nanami opened Excel.
Sukuna opened Twitter.
Suguru opened a Notion.
Gojo opened a drawer and found... a stress ball.
Toji brought out a blueprint of South Delhi’s café locations.
No one asked why he had it.
Ino pulled out his iPad. “Do I have permission to unhinge ?”
You looked him dead in the eyes. “Unleash hell.”
The plan was born in five steps:
Audit his supply chain. Nanami already had receipts.
Hijack his brand relaunch via a “community coffee pop-up” on the same day. With free cold brew and bad attitude.
Send Gojo and Suguru to charm the PR team and leak Zenin’s “inspiration deck.”
Unleash Sukuna on Twitter with sarcasm and memes. “Beta Elon with filter coffee” energy.
Let Toji do... whatever he does. We don’t ask questions.
OPERATION: ZAMEEN SE ZENIN TAK
Phase 1: Meme Warfare (Sukuna + Ino)
Sukuna’s tweetstorm dropped at midnight:
“BREAKING: Delhi startup accused of stealing deck from Gurugram WhatsApp MBA group.”
“Imagine building your brand like a YouTube ad you can’t skip.”
“South Ex deserves better coffee and fewer men in linen.”
“Imagine launching a franchise with the emotional complexity of a Birla Cement ad.”
“We have the better Zenins on board.” With the Toji + Megumi combo plastered on the article.
Ino, meanwhile, dropped three Instagram reels.
One spoofing Naoya’s ad using Punjabi wedding footage.
One using your interns as actors in a parody: “South Delhi boys explaining coffee with zero taste buds.”
One that just said: “We invented clarity. You sell confusion.”
A reel parodying Naoya’s franchise launch. Kokichi’s voice narrated: “This is Naoya. Naoya thinks branding is beige fonts and discount coupons. Naoya also thinks women don’t belong in boardrooms. Don’t be Naoya.”
It went viral.
Even D2C Twitter joined the fight.
Startups across Noida posted memes with your logo and the caption: “Maa Maa hoti hai.”
Phase 2: Financial Warfare (Nanami + Toji)
Nanami quietly contacted three of Naoya’s distributors.
They didn’t switch sides.
They didn’t have to.
He just leaked Q2 burn reports and supplier invoices to Mint Lounge with footnotes titled:
“Legacy Funding ≠ Profit”
“Influencer Coffee ≠ Actual Coffee”
“Net Burn Rate = Screaming into a void”
“Angel funding is not a personality.”
“Net burn rate: ₹47 lakh/month. Net output: one reel with Badshah.”
Toji, meanwhile, “borrowed” a shipment log from a connected warehouse.
Turns out, Naoya’s new roast blend was being imported through a shell company that didn’t technically exist.
Toji forwarded the file with a note: “Not saying commit fraud. Just saying... oops.”
Phase 3: Street Domination (You + Gojo)
You launched pop-up espresso carts across Naoya’s key zones: GK2, SDA, Khan Market.
Free cold brew.
No branding.
Just one blackboard per cart that read:
We Don’t Sell Legacy. We Serve Clarity.
₹0 for idiots. ₹10 for Zenins.
Free shots of espresso at 7AM for gym-goers.
₹69 “F**k Legacy” cold brew popups.
A vending machine that only accepted memes as currency.
Gojo worked crowd control.
Wore tight T-shirts. Gave away tote bags. Took selfies.
Utterly useless.
But charming.
And every single influencer that Naoya paid?
Came to your stall. For the clout.
Yuji wore sunglasses and served filter coffee like it was vengeance.
Nobara punched a man for saying “chai > coffee.”
Megumi just printed QR codes to report Naoya’s LinkedIn posts.
Junpei managed vendor ops.
Kokichi wrote a bot that hijacked Naoya’s Yelp reviews.
In 48 hours, your Instagram reach went up 147%.
His went down.
At 11AM the next week, while Zenin launched his shiny South Ex flagship, you launched a van outside.
No menu.
No prices.
Just a chalkboard that read: “We don’t steal decks. We steal customers.”
Nobara wore sunglasses and handed out iced Americanos like a hitwoman.
Yuji and Junpei ran logistics like a mafia warehouse.
Megumi designed the popup banner. It just said: "Suck it, Zenin."
Kokichi just stood there, and college girls flocked to him.
Step 4: Public Humiliation
Zenin showed up. Naturally.
Wearing a bandh gala.
With a sandalwood diffuser in hand.
Your team parked a coffee cart 5 meters outside.
The board said: “Naali Zenin.”
Naoya’s voice wobbled. “I’ll sue you.”
Suguru handed him a cease-and-desist you’d drafted. It read: “Cease building mediocrity. Desist from wasting our oxygen.”
Sukuna tweeted a clip of it. Captioned: “Beta, tumse na ho payega.”
Within the hour, two of Naoya’s angels pulled out.
His vendors stalled shipments.
His ad agency resigned.
He tried to argue over Linkedin.
But Toji had already flirted with one of his biggest investors.
Suguru leaked chat screenshots.
Nanami posted the actual P&L that proved his margins were bullshit.
Sukuna called him “cappuccino Vinod Mehra” on Twitter. It trended.
Naoya filed a cease and desist.
You replied with:
“Cease what? You haven’t built anything.”
“Desist? That’s your vibe anyway.”
He posted a LinkedIn essay about “cancel culture and the toxicity of female-led disruption.”
Sukuna brought him down with:
“Get ratio’d by a CEO with real unit economics, you linen napkin.”
By Friday, Naoya’s franchise launch was postponed indefinitely.
His team’s baristas quit.
Your café foot traffic spiked 38%.
You sold out your new “clarity is caffeinated” merch.
And Nobara’s tweet—
“Imagine losing to a girl in chappals who didn’t even use a deck” —
went viral.
You came into office with a filter coffee in hand and zero apologies.
Gojo raised a brow. “No press release?”
You smiled. “I prefer performance art.”
Nanami updated the dashboard: “Enemy liquidation: 93% complete.”
Sukuna said nothing. Just posted: “We ball.”
You sat on the office terrace with a cigarette, knees tucked under your chin, watching the city drown in traffic and noise.
Ino flopped down beside you. “So... did we win?”
You shrugged.
He whistled low. “So what now?”
You sipped your coffee.
“Now we build something he can’t steal.”

Meghan Markles Suicidal Ideation. Did she really not have any help available? by u/somespeculation
Meghan Markle’s Suicidal Ideation. Did she really not have any help available? Meghan Markle’s Suicidal Ideation. Here’s all the supports she had available, but did not access.Meg’s suicidal ideation and claims there was no help:In today’s CBS interview, by his own logic, Harry was supposed to be a ‘first responder’. Harry speaks of parents needing to be trained to see the signs…yet he had clear signs - ie Meg literally told him - and he did nothing???Meg has NEVER spoken about seeking or receiving help. This is egregious and irresponsible as it suggests that one can simply ‘pull themselves up by their own bootstraps’ to overcome depression and suicidal ideation.Notice Harry also mentions NOTHING about her seeking or receiving help in Spare. His suicidal, pregnant wife. Yet his brother’s todger and his own both warrant commentary.Yet despite claiming clear suicidal ideation in January, Meghan Markle is allegedly fine FOR A YEAR before a Megxit is activated due to it being “unbearable.”Or, in Meg’s case, moving to Canada one year later seems to have cleared or right up.There are also no conversations anywhere either about how she would theoretically be very vulnerable to post natal depression. Yet nothing. Irresponsible and publicly dangerous.Plus Doria literally had a job at a mental health center. How hypocritical and vile to indirectly blame parents for not seeing the signs to prevent their children’s suicides.https://ift.tt/KLyEUVs 2019 - during the Oprah interview, Meg claims she was suicidal at this time. Right in the middle of the bullying investigation by Palace. The bullying investigation was happening in Oct 2018, due to be released in March 2019.May 2019 - Promotes friends spa as “mental health treatment” on Sussex Royal IG. Could this be the facility she claims to be prevented from going to? Remember that was what she was allegedly angling for to treat her alleged suicidal ideation - and all expense paid, Royal family funded, overseas spa trip at her friend’s spa. January 2019.She even PROMOTED it on their OFFICIAL ROYAL SM ACCOUNT in May 2019.https://ift.tt/sHvbZg9 also previously promoted Pandas charity for pre and post natal mental health. Wonder why she couldn’t access that?https://ift.tt/nP408qZ 2019 - Harry had also already signed the mental health with Oprah/Apple deal. Surely there were people there as well he could have connected with, or asked producers to contact him with due to Meg’s health? Since they were arranging these deals confidentially, surely this wood be confidential as well. https://ift.tt/F2s7EZP also spoke about going to Palace HR. This was likely to create a paper trail claiming help was sought and denied. But Palace HR literally cannot DO anything, for liability reasons, as they are not mental health professionals. Their hands would have been tied, and at most, the only thing they could do is urge her to seek medical help. Which Meg didn’t. They also could not have told any higher ups at the Palace, likely due to HR confidentiality policies.Meg also did not go to her OBGYN, nor did Harry contact them in fear either. There are confidential hotlines available in the UK Harry could also have easily accessed, including Heads Together that Harry literally launched with William and Catherine via the Royal Foundation. Harry, Meghan, Catherine, and William were on a panel promoting it in February 2018.Part of Heads Together is Shout, a 24/7 free text messaging helpline Here’s the website with an immediate banner if you need help now:https://ift.tt/2oELtk3 now Meg is using grieving parents to make it about her, on her birthday, to continue to indirectly attack the Royals for failure to help her. post link: https://ift.tt/IDRZTCP author: somespeculation submitted: August 04, 2024 at 05:38PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. I think its frightening when people who read like big two superhero comics say they only read stuff thats like Good Ideologically because its like either you've read like exactly one comic book or you think all those Batman panels where Bruce gives someone a bootstraps speech and then a job at his own company prove hes a leftist and shit
#Like literally most big two comics are right wing or centrist at best#Especially batman but it is everything#It is the consequence of a genre where the big thing is Fighting Crime.#Ok anyway.

Bootstrap Admin Template – Developing Complex Progressive Web App

Bootstrap Admin Template have become an integral part of web applications and websites. Whether for managing content, monitoring performance, or tracking business metrics, admin templates provide an organized way to interact with complex data. One of the most popular frameworks for developing admin dashboards is Bootstrap, an open-source front-end framework. Its flexibility, scalability, and ease of use have made it a go-to choice for developers.
Our Bootstrap Admin Template comes with a powerful set of features, including seven analytics dashboards and three CRM dashboards, all built with the latest Bootstrap 5 framework. In this article, we will delve into the importance of Bootstrap admin templates, explore the benefits of our master dashboard, discuss the web development process with our Bootstrap admin template, and explain why we stand out in the competitive market.
1. Importance of Bootstrap Admin Template
Admin templates serve as the backbone of modern web applications, providing users with a structured and functional interface to interact with data. In any web application, especially those dealing with large amounts of information or business operations, managing the backend is just as crucial as the frontend. Here's why a Bootstrap Admin Template is important:
a. Consistency and Efficiency
Bootstrap provides a consistent design system that ensures your Master Dashboard looks polished and professional across all devices. The admin template built on Bootstrap follows this system, which results in a responsive layout, intuitive user interface, and easy-to-use components. By leveraging Bootstrap, you avoid having to create these elements from scratch.
b. Time-Saving
For web developers, time is a precious resource. A pre-built Bootstrap Admin Template like ours saves a significant amount of time during the development process. Instead of building every feature from the ground up, developers can use the template’s pre-built features, like navigation menus, charts, and tables, which speeds up development without compromising on quality.
c. Mobile Responsiveness
In today’s mobile-first world, ensuring that your admin panel works flawlessly on mobile devices is crucial. Bootstrap’s grid system allows developers to create responsive layouts with minimal effort, ensuring your dashboard will look great on screens of all sizes—whether it’s a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
d. Customization Flexibility
While WebApp Template come with a set of predefined elements, they also offer ample room for customization. Developers can easily modify or extend the templates to meet the specific needs of their project. From changing the color scheme to adding new widgets, Bootstrap admin templates allow easy modification to align with the brand’s identity.
e. Built-In Components and Widgets
Bootstrap is known for its comprehensive library of UI components. From buttons and cards to forms and modals, everything you need to create an admin dashboard is available. Bootstrap 5 offers enhanced features like improved grid layouts, native custom form controls, and additional utilities, all of which help in developing complex admin dashboards.
2. Benefits of Our Master Dashboard
Our Master Dashboard, built with the latest Bootstrap 5 framework, offers a comprehensive solution for managing and monitoring all aspects of your application or business. It is packed with features to ensure an efficient and productive experience for both administrators and end-users. Here are some of the key benefits:
a. Comprehensive Analytics Dashboards
Our dashboard offers seven analytics UI Dashboard, each tailored for specific use cases. Whether you’re tracking user engagement, sales data, traffic patterns, or marketing performance, these dashboards are designed to give you valuable insights at a glance.

Advanced Charts and Graphs: With rich charts, graphs, and tables, the dashboard transforms raw data into digestible, visual representations.
Customizable Widgets: You can add, remove, or customize widgets to suit your specific needs.
b. CRM Dashboards for Customer Relationship Management
Our three CRM dashboards are designed to help businesses track and improve their customer relationships. The dashboards offer valuable insights that assist in managing leads, tracking sales pipelines, and improving customer satisfaction.
Lead Management: Easily track the status of leads and opportunities with detailed reports and timelines.
Customer Interactions: Monitor customer interactions, allowing your team to provide more personalized service.
Task and Activity Tracking: Keep an eye on sales activities, ensuring that important tasks are completed on time.
c. User-Friendly Interface
One of the core principles of our Dashboard UI is its user-friendly interface. Thanks to Bootstrap 5’s sleek and intuitive design, the dashboard is easy to navigate, even for non-technical users. The layout is structured logically, allowing users to access the information they need without confusion.
d. Customization and Scalability
Our Master Dashboard is not just functional but also highly customizable. You can change the design, add new features, or tweak existing ones to better fit your business requirements. Whether you need to add a new widget or adjust the layout for specific devices, the template allows easy modifications. Plus, the modular structure of the dashboard makes it scalable, meaning it can grow as your business or application does.
e. Optimized Performance
Our Admin Dashboard UI is optimized for performance. It’s lightweight, ensuring fast loading times, even when dealing with large datasets. Bootstrap’s modular design helps ensure that only necessary resources are loaded, keeping the page load time to a minimum.
3. Web Development Process with Our Bootstrap Admin Template
The web development process can be complex, especially when building an admin dashboard that requires features like analytics, CRM tools, and real-time data tracking. Our Bootstrap Admin Template simplifies this process and makes it more efficient.
a. Step 1: Planning and Requirement Gathering
The first step is to clearly define the project’s goals and understand the requirements. This involves determining the key metrics you want to track, understanding user roles (admin, manager, user), and identifying the features you need, such as the analytics dashboards, CRM tools, or data visualizations.
b. Step 2: Designing the User Interface
Once the requirements are set, the next step is designing the user interface. The UI design ensures the user experience (UX) is smooth and intuitive. Thanks to Bootstrap 5, developers have access to a modern, responsive grid system that adapts to any device, ensuring a seamless experience across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
Our template provides pre-designed pages, including dashboards, login screens, and user management, allowing you to build a professional-looking admin panel without the hassle of custom design.
c. Step 3: Setting Up the Template
After the design phase, the next step is integrating the Bootstrap Admin Template into the project. This is where the real development begins. You can begin customizing the provided template, adding your desired components, and incorporating data into the analytics and CRM dashboards.
Our Admin Dashboard UI includes built-in components like charts, tables, forms, and modals, which can be configured to fetch data dynamically and be used in the backend of your web application. The template also includes pre-configured JavaScript and jQuery components for handling events and interactions.
d. Step 4: Data Integration
Once the design and layout are ready, the next step is integrating the data. Whether you are pulling data from a database or external API, you can configure the dashboard to fetch and display data dynamically. The analytics and CRM dashboards will be connected to your backend systems, allowing the data to update in real-time.
e. Step 5: Testing and Optimization
Testing is a critical part of the development process. Our Bootstrap Admin Template is built with cross-browser compatibility in mind, so it works seamlessly on different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.). You can test the template on various screen sizes and devices to ensure its responsiveness.
Performance testing is another crucial aspect. The template is optimized to handle large datasets without compromising speed or performance. Developers can use tools like Google Page Speed Insights or Lighthouse to test and improve performance.
f. Step 6: Deployment and Maintenance
Once everything is in place and tested, it’s time to deploy the application to a live environment. 10-01-2024
Happy new year everybody! And as the previous submissions highlighted (thankss friends ❤️), yes, it's been a while, and I do apologise for the radio silence. My mental health has been a bit of a rollercoaster the past month and a half, and I've had to prioritise other things. But I'm not about to let the daunting task of summarising 6 weeks in 1 post discourage me! Let's go.
The talks of politics and philosophy at home have continued, occasionally with extra participants. They sent me down a pretty depressing and nihilistic spiral for a little while, but I feel like I've really managed to climb my way out of that again. I was finally brought to a bit of an epiphany that's made me able to at least pick myself up by my bootstraps, and though I'm currently not very comfortable in any hard political or philosophical positions, I seem to have a bit more grip on a general framework again. And that helped me stop moping around and start enjoying my time here more again. Though I'm still quite fragile mentally and quickly overwhelmed, sometimes to extremes that I haven't experienced in years, all in all I feel like this has been an incredibly humbling experience that has helped me grow tremendously. Who knew the last leg of my journey would be one of this kind? I spent four months exploring the South island, and now I've spent the next two exploring my own mind. Though I think that's a journey that will never truly be over, which is both exciting and terrifying.
I have been extremely lucky to be able to live this last bit of my journey rent-free, thanks to my wonderful housemates (and their adorable little dog):

Which meant that I could get away with only working part time. I still thoroughly enjoy my job and my coworkers (we love singing along at the top of our lungs to broadway songs as we clean up after close), but it's great to have a lot of free time around work to meet up with old friends and eat sushi or go to the beach...

...Play board games...

...Celebrate Sinterklaas...

...Organise all my marked road maps, give myself manicures and haircuts, and, with deep deep pain in my heart: sell Elrond 💔 I will say I was extremely lucky to be able to sell him for DOUBLE what I paid for him back in May 😱 I definitely did improve upon him, with the brand new solar panel, newly constructed bed and shiny new rear brakes. Still, I hadn't expected to get my asking price for him, but I got lucky having two interested buyers who wanted to compete. I can barely believe it, but this means I have almost fully earned back my entire South island trip, car costs and fuel costs combined! And now I don't have to worry about the scenario in which I wouldn't manage to sell him, and would have to leave him with friends. All that was definitely the silver lining I forced myself to focus on as I gave him one last deep clean, both to be able to present him properly to his new owners, and as a sort of closure ritual for myself. I cleaned out all the dead sandflies, dusted all the surfaces, vacuumed the floor mats, and gave the kitchen a thorough wash. Saying goodbye is never easy, and I definitely had to fight back some tears when his new owners came to pick him up and take him away. But they are absolute sweethearts (they already sent me a photo from their adventure with him), so I can rest assured that he is in good hands! Farewell my darling, you were the best first car I could have wished for, and you will not be forgotten ❤️
Aside from all that, I was also very glad to have the chance to go on two more spectacular hikes in this area!
Patuna Chasm
This GORGEous ~3-hour hike definitely justified my bringing my Teva active sandals with me from home, as almost three quarters of the walk was through knee-deep river water. It was a cold and windy morning as we got driven to the start of the track in a 4WD car by the owners of the land, and were told to be back at the drop-off point in three hours to be brought back to our own car. If we were to miss that car, we'd have to wait a full hour for the next ride. So with our route map in hand, we set off on the first leg of the hike, which took us up the hills and back down to the chasm. The views were stunning, with spectacular rock formations and the grass on the hill faces waving in the wind like a green ocean:

Down at the river, we got our clothes and bags ready to get wet, and stepped into the water. As we followed the river, first upstream towards some serene waterfalls (where I may have given myself a brain freeze and mild hypothermia by deciding to stand under them):

And then downstream to start making our way back to the car, it started to slowly rain, but that didn't stop us. We saw eels:

We clambered up muddy hills and over huge boulders, down ladders, through deep and shallow sections of the river, explored caves:

And when we finally got back to the section of the track that would take us to our starting point, two of my friends were kind enough to carry mine and our fourth friend's backpack, so we could go down the alternate route: the last stretch of the river, which required us to swim through neck-deep water. I couldn't feel my feet or forearms by the end, but the adrenaline drowned that out as we sprinted up the riverbank to make it back to the 4WD car, only to catch it right as it was about to leave without us! It was absolutely exhausting, but so much good old childish adventurous fun, and one of the most spectacular hikes I've done in the country! (Photo credits to Liv :) )
Escarpment Track
This was the last hike my friend and I did together, which was a sad fact I tried not to think about too much as we walked. The track took us about 10km along the East coast, and it was quite the climb. The view was stunning though, the path itself was very well laid out, with stairs and ropes to hold onto, and benches along the way, which we happily used to take a lunch break about halfway through.

We were very happy to have some cloud coverage that day so we weren't constantly exposed to the sun. My favourite parts were the two rope bridges that were bouncing wildly in the wind. Standing on them felt a little like flying!

And for most of the track we were flanked by immense amounts of fennel, which gave the whole walk a wonderful background aroma:

I was so amazed by the thought that this hike was literally 15 minutes from my friend's home. That type of easy access to incredible nature is definitely something I'm going to miss when I go home. But that made me all the more grateful I got to do this while I still could! (Photo credits to Liv :) )
Soon enough my birthday rolled around, which was an incredibly emotional day for me. I had to say goodbye to my dear friends, one of whom I won't see again before I leave the country. I gifted her a little hand made photo album of our adventures together, which had taken me a lot longer to make than I had anticipated, but luckily I had managed to finish it the night before:

She told me this wasn't a 'goodbye', but a 'see you next time', and though I'd happily believe that, the next time will be at least a long time from now. She has meant the world to me during this trip, has helped and supported me more than I could thank her for, so I had to bite back tears as I watched her walk away. After that I had drinks at work, where my super kind coworkers surprised me with vegan chocolate and doughnuts, making me struggle not to cry for the second time that day. In the evening I had a video call with home, during which I remotely participated in their game of Memory, and still WON 💪😤
After my birthday my housemates and I went straight into Christmas mode, running around decorating the house and cooking all sorts of dishes! It was very odd to have Christmas without the associated weather/season, and without getting to see my family. My housemate introduced me to Tim Minchin's song White Wine in the Sun, which makes me cry like a baby every time I listen to it. So I took a photo of myself and my housemates, drinking non-alcoholic sparkling white grape juice in the sun, and sent it home along with a link to the song to make my parents cry as well 😈 We spent our days here enjoying all the wonderful food and the company of the neighbour and his family, and I even got to sing some songs which I hadn't done in a long while. I also got to give Christmas presents to my housemates, which I worked quite hard on: matching cowl scarves for the two of them and the dog 😊
Of course next on the calendar was New Year's Eve. In honour of my family traditions, I got some non-alcoholic sparkling rose and cocktail fruit from the supermarket, and a couple of minutes before midnight a musician friend and I combined them into portable cups, so we could cheers to 2024 at the waterfront as the fireworks lit up the sky!

I had a wonderful night of music, dancing, playing on the beach, walking in the woods, and eventually sheltering from the rain, and didn't fall asleep until 6 in the morning. My sleeping rhythm still hasn't recovered! The next morning I woke up from my alarm at 11:55, and quickly got up so I could listen to the last minutes of the Top2000 and wish all my Dutch people a happy new year at noon. It felt so odd to do this in the sun in the middle of the day, but in a way that felt more real than the midnight before!
The next days I spent some time looking back at my highlights and achievements from 2023, and I created my own makeshift "Spotify wrapped" by analysing some statistics from my offline music player app. It turns out that (besides Asha, which is the music I play to fall asleep nearly every night) Ghost was my top artist of the year 🎧 Oh and I caught a big spider in my room!

For Sinterklaas, my parents had gifted me a metaphorical voucher to spend where I wanted to, so I got myself a ticket to a tour at Wēta Workshop, the SFX and other movie magic studio behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Avatar movies, and many more. I dragged one of my housemates and a mutual friend along, and I'm really happy we got to go! We were shown around the different stages in the SFX process, we got to hold some movie prop swords, and got to see the original weapons and armour used on-screen in a plethora of different movies. Unfortunately for copyright reasons we weren't allowed to take photos inside the studios and work stations, but I snapped some photos outside!

And while I'd much prefer not to face it... By now I have had to start focusing on my upcoming homebound trip. Slowly plans for when I get back home are trickling in, which feels very surreal. I can't believe it's actually only two weeks until I go home, a fact that I like to hide from as much as I can. It's not that I don't want to go home, I've been looking forward to seeing my family again, eating all my familiar foods, seeing my neighbourhood and getting to hug my friends again for so long now. And I am genuinely excited for that. Part of the reason I enjoy traveling is that it reminds me of what I love about home, and allows me to miss it, and return to it more grateful than before. But it also feels like returning to 'normal life'. I'm afraid of going from a time of adventure to a time of stagnation, even though I know that's not a fair or reasonable thought. I suppose something I was afraid of is happening, which is that I feel at home here now, and happy, and have found the right people, and am enjoying the summer, and so going home (to winter 🥶) actually doesn't sound very attractive at all at times, at least not the way it did when I was living in Elrond. Back then I was struggling a lot more, I felt alone and lost, and so the thought of going home felt like such a relief. Now that I've grown accustomed to the luxury of living in a house again, and being surrounded by a social network I feel safe and appreciated in... the contrast is a lot smaller. And it almost feels like I'm going to feel homesick towards here when I go home. Like this upcoming flight is my departure, not my return.
This thought was solidified even more when my housemate asked if I'd be willing to wear a sweater that I'm not going to take with me as much as I can for the last two days or so, so that it will smell like me and I can leave it for the dog 😭💔 I really struggle not to cry at that thought, and I'm wondering if maybe (i.e. am pretty sure actually that) I'm even procrastinating with booking the trip between here and Tāmakimakaurau out of pure denial. I don't want to leave. I don't want to say goodbye, and never come back. Much more than I ever felt with Australia, I want to return here. I don't care when, maybe that will be when I'm old and retired and have no family left in Europe to miss, or when the most important people to me come with me, or if I find out I have been irrevocably changed and flee back here in a year or two. But I want to come back.
I have procured a second suitcase, and am slowly working on getting all my possessions sorted. I've sold my busking amp and microphones to a good musician friend after we'd used it for a last busking hurrah at the harbourside veggie markets last Sunday. It was a fantastic end to this busking season for me, as we connected with the crowd, the weather was wonderful, and I got to sing all the songs that were important to me. I can't bring my guitar with me, so I'll bring it to my friends' house for safekeeping, and maybe they can get it back to me some day. And the big pink bear who was riding shotgun with me in Elrond? It would break my heart to leave him behind, so I stuffed him into one of those vacuum seal bags:

And I'm going to break my back trying to fit him into the new suitcase! He means too much to me, even if I only paid $10 for him.
My to do list is shrinking slowly but steadily, and I really have to plan well to fit everything that's left into the little time I still have here. I am going to make the most of it, spend time with the people here that have meant the most to me, immortalise the memories and when the time comes, I will get on that plane with a fond smile ❤️

Sonic the Comic Liveblog: Issue 72
Yeah, bootstrap paradox with a rotten egg is a little silly, isn’t it?
Can’t put my finger on why exactly, but the colouring in this panel reminds me of Adventure era art somehow
Two birds, one stone

I’ve drawn parallels from the metallixes to daleks before but the vibes are REAL heavy here
He was definitely expecting an explosion
OOOOOOHHHHH we got Mecha Knuckles incoming!!

Totally called a peaceful resolution

Goddamn, look how pretty that background is
There was a whole one-off story here that really wasn’t very notable other than this community of skunks with really bad French accents, including this absolute unit in the left panel
This looks like it could be a Jojo pose
Ah, so when he scanned Johnny’s mind, he probably also unintentionally took in his ideals too
Gotta write stuff down dude
I mean, it’s not like he knew what the word would come to mean in like 30 years time

Alright Nova 1200, your turn. Let's figure out why the /CONRQ signal isn't happy...
Except for some reason it works now. So I put the front panel cover back on, gave it a bit of a rest to make sure it wasn't a temperature issue, and tested again and it's still fine.
Next problem: test the serial functionality with two programs:
One that spits out ASCII barf [check] One that echos whatever was typed into the terminal [check]
Well, both pass, so now it's time for the bootstrap loader, followed by the binary loader. Those seem to work. Let's try 095-000036-01 Nova 1200 Logic Test from 1970 to 1974. They built it for exactly this purpose.
Passes the first check aaaaand... fails the second. Okay, let's work with that. Later, serial tests stopped working too. Great...

See that blue line spiking? That's the input that triggers things, and it's subtle analog bullshit, which is then turned into clean digital high/low. It's very unorthodox compared to how we do things today.
So this turned into a more complicated issue, or set of issues. The front panel started getting mad again (/CONRQ again). And after studying the circuitry for awhile, I deduced it was from the 5V rail being below the safe threshold for the logic to work. The 5V rail delivers at most 12A to this computer per the specs, which is for a few hundred logic IC's (lamps and core memory use different voltage rails). That means if it isn't adjusted right, the voltage sags pretty badly when you get far enough away from the PSU.

That's on the front panel. Not ideal. It's not much different on the CPU board. The problem is that if I boost the 5V adjustment trimpot on the PSU to reasonable levels, the -5V and +12V rails climb.
-5V isn't so much of an issue, not much needs that to work. 12V is used by only 2 things, neither of which is logic: the front panel lamps (which are rated for safe operation between 11-17V per Data General), and the industrial Noctua fans in the PSU chassis.
When 5V is happy, 12V is more like 13.5V, which is liable to degrade and eventually destroy those fans. So I built this little thing to protect those fans: a pair of diodes to drop the voltage down just below 12V. We don't need to worry about the lamps, they're fine

But that fixed the PSU issue, which fixed the /CONRQ issue.

7 Reasons to Choose a Coworking Space in Gurgaon

If you're an entrepreneur, freelancer, remote worker, or part of a growing startup in India’s corporate capital, there’s one thing that’s become impossible to ignore: the rise of coworking space in Gurgaon. Once seen as a niche solution for startups, coworking has transformed into a smart, scalable workspace option for teams of all sizes—from bootstrapped innovators to Fortune 500 satellite offices.
But why is Gurgaon, among all Indian cities, leading this trend? And what makes coworking such a compelling choice over traditional office spaces or work-from-home setups? Let’s unpack the seven biggest benefits of choosing a coworking space in this thriving business district.
1. Prime Locations Close to Everything That Matters
One of the biggest advantages of coworking spaces in Gurgaon is their strategic locations. Whether you're looking to work out of Cyber City, Golf Course Road, MG Road, or Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon offers a coworking facility just minutes away from metro stations, top hotels, banks, and client offices.
Being situated in a prime location doesn’t just save commute time—it enhances your brand image. Having a business address in Cyberhub or One Horizon Center instantly makes a statement to clients and partners.
Plus, the proximity to major residential sectors like South City, DLF Phase 3, and Sushant Lok means your team can enjoy a "walk to work" lifestyle, eliminating the daily traffic battle Gurgaon is known for.
2. Flexibility That Matches Your Growth
Unlike conventional offices, coworking spaces offer the kind of operational agility today’s businesses need.
Need a few desks now but might need a private cabin in 6 months? No problem.
Want to switch locations to be closer to a new client? You can do that.
Prefer working 3 days a week onsite and the rest remotely? Get a part-time plan.
Coworking operators in Gurgaon provide a wide range of membership models—hourly desks, day passes, part-time cabins, and enterprise suites—with no long-term leases. This makes it easier for businesses to scale up or down based on demand, especially in unpredictable markets.
3. World-Class Infrastructure Without the Overhead
One of the strongest reasons to choose coworking is access to premium-grade infrastructure—minus the costs and headaches of setting it up.
At a fraction of the cost of setting up your own office, you get:
Fully furnished ergonomic workstations
High-speed internet with backup
Meeting rooms with AV equipment
Printing and scanning services
IT and admin support
Daily housekeeping and maintenance
Coworking operators like WeWork, Awfis, Cowrks, and Smartworks have raised the bar on workspace design and service delivery in Gurgaon, offering an environment that rivals any modern corporate office.
4. Boosted Productivity in a Professional Environment
For many remote workers and solopreneurs, working from home can be a productivity killer. Between household distractions, patchy internet, and the lack of a professional environment, it's easy to lose focus and momentum.
Coworking spaces solve this by creating a structured, motivating work environment with:
Dedicated quiet zones for focused work
Collaboration areas for group discussions
Access to private phone booths and call pods
Onsite café or pantry for short breaks
Natural lighting, air purification, and biophilic design to boost mood and energy
Simply being around like-minded professionals can push you to stay sharp, on schedule, and motivated through your day.
5. Networking Opportunities Around Every Corner
Perhaps one of the most underrated benefits of coworking is the inbuilt networking ecosystem. Coworking spaces in Gurgaon bring together professionals from various industries—tech, marketing, consulting, legal, design, and more—creating endless opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Events like:
Pitch nights
Startup demo days
Skill-sharing workshops
Industry panels
Happy hours and mixers
…make it easy to connect, collaborate, and even land new clients or partnerships—all under the same roof.
Unlike traditional office buildings where companies are siloed, coworking fosters an open, collaborative vibe where business opportunities can happen organically.
6. Built-In Business Support Services
Many coworking spaces in Gurgaon are more than just real estate—they act as launchpads for business growth. They often bundle or provide access to critical support services such as:
Company registration
GST registration and compliance support
Accounting and payroll services
Virtual receptionist and call handling
Courier and mail handling
Tech support and WiFi troubleshooting
This concierge-like setup is especially helpful for startups and solopreneurs who need to focus on business without getting bogged down in backend admin tasks.
Some coworking brands even have tie-ups with VCs, accelerator programs, and legal advisors—opening the door to further growth opportunities.
7. Cost-Effective for Teams of All Sizes
Let’s face it—real estate in Gurgaon isn’t cheap. Renting a traditional office, furnishing it, setting up infrastructure, hiring admin staff, and maintaining the space is a massive upfront investment. And if your team size changes or your business pivots, you’re stuck with a lease and overheads you can’t escape.
Coworking solves this with its cost-effective pricing model, allowing you to:
Pay only for what you use
Avoid capital expenditures
Get all-inclusive pricing (utilities, furniture, internet, cleaning, and more)
Enjoy shared amenities at no extra cost
This pricing flexibility makes coworking not only feasible for startups and freelancers, but also increasingly appealing to enterprise teams looking to decentralize their operations and adopt hybrid work models.
Bonus: Gurgaon’s Diverse Coworking Ecosystem
The city caters to every type of professional or business need. Whether you're looking for:
Luxury coworking with lounges, valet parking, and rooftop cafes
Tech-driven hubs with server rooms, developer pods, and testing labs
Creative spaces for designers, artists, and content creators
Women-focused coworking with creche facilities and security features
…Gurgaon offers a diverse coworking ecosystem with options tailored to different industries and work styles.
Top coworking providers with multiple centers across Gurgaon include:
WeWork – Known for premium design and community vibe
Awfis – Offers multi-location access and strong security features
Springhouse – Creative, boutique spaces perfect for solo workers
Cowrks – Ideal for large teams and enterprises
The Office Pass (TOP) – Budget-friendly local coworking near residential hubs
Final Thoughts
Coworking is no longer just a trend—it’s a strategic shift in how businesses of all sizes operate. With a booming business ecosystem, modern infrastructure, and a rising number of hybrid workers, Gurgaon has become the ideal destination for flexible workspaces.
Whether you're a solopreneur looking for a desk, a growing startup needing team rooms, or a large company building a satellite office, choosing a coworking space in Gurugram offers unmatched advantages. From prime location and scalability to productivity and networking, these shared offices are designed to help you work smarter—not harder.
In a world where work is becoming increasingly borderless, collaborative, and tech-driven, Gurgaon’s coworking spaces are not just adapting—they’re leading the way.
