i love thinking about captain john price himself being completely whipped for his wife. just the idea of a big, tall, brooding man who’s unabashedly down bad for his sweet little wife. i mean, god forbid something slightly pisses him off, the second her hand touched his arm and she says ‘honey, it’s okay…’ so gently, he calms down like he was never even mad in the first place. will mumble out a quiet ‘sorry, angel’ in a much softer tone that he reserves for her only and immediately lets it go.

he just can’t bring himself to ever be mad at his wife, she puts up with so much from him, after all, and is so patient. he knows deep down he doesn’t deserve a partner so kind, so he would never on his life raise his voice at his wife, it’s always the last thing on his mind. he knows better than that.

if he’s aggravated because of work, he makes it his mission to calm himself down on the car ride home so he’ll never take it out on her, and everything melts away when he sees her sitting on the couch so sweet with a big smile on her face, so happy to see him home again, and he suddenly forgets what pissed him off at work earlier.

Price is on first watch.

Kyle is half propped on his backpack, an arm thrown over his eyes. Lets out a sigh that’s not tired, or idle. Intentional. He doesn’t want to repeat himself.

Price doesn’t look, but he hears it. Knows what it is already.

“Mind if I..?”

It’s polite, which only throws him off internally. Most blokes would be crude, make a show to strip the meaning. Not Kyle.

Price stays facing the ridge line. No privacy up here unless one of them fancies scaling down to the river to get off. He just shrugs. “Your watch is in two hours.”

There’s a puase, then movement. Quiet, though not apologetic.

So Price lights a cigar. Keeps his eyes on the water. Listens.

Hears everything.

The sharp intake of breath, the rhythm turning harsh. Doesn’t stop scanning the water below for wildlife even when breath turns harsh, comes slow through the nose like he’s trying to be quiet about it. Then slick. Filthy and honest and unhidden.

Price doesn’t flinch. He takes a long drag, reaches for his canteen and grabs his flask instead. He’ll ignore his own ache until they change shifts, when it’s his turn to lay down and strip bare a piece of him that still feels human. Can’t blame a man for that.

Price drags.

The minute follows.

Kyle’s not cleaning up.

”Must be some girl you’ve got,” John finally says, voice rough.

There’s a pause before the smirk is in Kyle’s voice, breathless. “Proper gal to the lot, Captain. Sweet as anything. Only time I see that side of her is in public.”

“Sounds like you met you match.”

There’s a stutter, a laugh that gets bitten.

“What gets her like that?”

Kyle must shake his head, fondness curling around the filth. “Can’t hardly keep track, sir. Fuck, talking. Dirty mouth she’s got, puts it to good use. Spells it out real sweet in those letters she sends.”

”That’s what you keep reading, then.”

”Half the time,” Kyle hisses, “Swear she thinks about it ‘s much as I do. Makes it look so pretty when I call her, she loves showing off.” He’s trailing off now, voice pitching low and gravely. “Loves when I watch. Drives her mad that she can’t touch herself like I do.”

Gaz groans, his fist slick. “Gotta make it back to her. Smiles when I fuck her rough, Price, she’s a fuckin’ minx, mate. Sweet things probably losing it by now.”

Kyles voice pitches, a sound that’s almost a gasp. Then the following silence. A loud swallowing.

Price ashes his cigar. The burn in his gut has nothing to do with the drink, but he’ll table that for a later time. Behind him, Kyle exhales like he’s been shaken for all he’s worth, loose limbed and spent.

There’s a long moment before Gaz speaks, but his voice is light. Listing just on the edge of teasing. “Just lettin’ me embarrass myself, then?”

“No witness. Except that mess you’re sitting in.” Price snubs his cigar, watching it fly towards the river. “Next time, aim for the rocks.”

Kyle stands, slow like he’s being rebuilt. ��Might as well switch now, then.”

Price laughs, knocking him on the shoulder. “Should I prepare you for parental leave?”

“Christ, don’t give me ideas.”

TL;DR for the keep reading: <—im so serious lol this got out of hand. he’s angry and frustrated about stuff. They’ve been separated for a bit, her choice. She wants to fix him and thinks church, communication, and god is the answer. he thinks no one understands what he’s been through (valid). He wants to release his frustration and that translates into their sexy time but she doesn’t want that because she wants him to talk about his emotions. Finally, the symbolism in that last line really says it all about their relationship.

let me preface this. these are very complex characters and this is one scene. I have not seen the entire show but I did enough research to understand as much as I could so I could do a reasonable analysis. (I ended up watching 3 episodes lol) (yes an analysis of a make out clip don’t judge me) (I did not expect to write this much)

They are married and high school sweethearts. he is a SEAL..he’s seen and done shit..she is a very religious woman but as time goes on he struggles with his own faith.

Sex is a release. And I think this scene is showing that he needs that emotional release. He’s pacing and stressed which is why she offers and wants to pray for him and his friends who were under attack.

At this point she’s been living with her sister cause of stuff I’m not getting into. Obvi he’s drawn to his wife and she notices and falls into the moment with him and the tension but as he begins to be a little more rough and needy she doesn’t match it...she thinks that he’s acting that way because he’s upset…which is true and it’s not a bad thing that sex is how he’s looking to release it but the issue is that there is no communication..and now a broken lamp.

Also another layer to consider is that with her being more religious she has a different view on what sex is supposed to be like with her husband (slow love making, not lustful and needy). She wants to fix him and hear his stories of what he does but at this point they are two very different people with very different lives and she cannot handle it.

His built up frustration leads to him having a drunken one night stand with a woman who matches the desperate release he was seeking. I couldn’t find for the life of me where or if he tells his wife about the affair but there is a scene where they have make up sex so *shrug*. He does also tell her that he wasn’t the same person she married, which I personally don’t think she understood. (video of the affair incoming later w a mature warning) but also after he breaks the lamp you can see his frustration and her awkwardness so clearly. Clip of the affair here.

With Price's old man dead, it falls to Mac to do the embarrassing shit like show Nik the proverbial baby photos. In the absence of a bare-arsed Baby Price in the bath tub, Mac falls back on all the embarrassing, grainy photographs and footage he has of Lieutenant Price fresh out of selection being an absolute goofball on main.

Mac has a few with Nik and the 141 at the stag do and whips out a video he has of Price dancing to Soulja Boy with a bunch of Iraqi boys in Helmand. Price is twenty-one in the video. A whole year before he met Nikolai in The Phoenix and convinced him to flip sides. It instantly becomes Nik's favourite image of his captain; laughing, bright-eyed, and floundering around like a Labrador pup with paws that are too big for him.

Soap and Gaz watch the bloody thing on repeat and spend the next few weeks until the wedding perfecting the moves. Price is just about hammered enough at his own reception that he joins in when they get the DJ to play the tune so they can tear up the dance floor.

Old man still has the moves sixteen years later.
