Do you think that Poppy and Zena’s living conditions contribute to their mental and physical health problems? I know from experience how black mold can really fuck up your health. It’s given me lung lacerations (I grew up in filth as a kid and still have breathing problems). I imagine it’d exacerbate pre-existing conditions too, like migraines.
There’s also the whole drinking energy drinks, staying up until 3-5am every night, and relying on CBD gummies constantly. Not to mention, constant screaming matches and arguments get exhausting and would definitely cause some toxic stress
This would certainly screw up your physical health, but also your mental health. I have my own set of mental health conditions that get so much worse of I don’t take care of my body and environment.
I know it’s speculation, but there are multiple witnesses to Poppy and Zena’s personal lives. I’m not saying that their chronic mental and physical health conditions aren’t real, only that they’ve likely been unnecessarily amplified.
It is absolutely a factor. It's self-perpetuating. Their behavior results in a disordered space, and their disordered space exacerbates their behavior. Mold can fuck you up mentality if you are exposed to it long enough. Dysregulated eating and sleeping habits impact your stress threshold. When you barely go outside, your safe place may as well be a stinky cage. No doubt prison toilets are kept cleaner than their bathroom. As someone who is uncomfortable when my space is unkempt, partly by having standards and partly through trauma, I highly agree to the idea that your home can be a reflection of your mental state, like an external organ of the body.

If you have chronic nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia) due to your broken wisdom tooth like I do, here’s my list of things to try for pain management. These things might help for other chronic or acute facial nerve pain issues, jaw pain, broken teeth, wisdom tooth pain, toothache, etc.
• Ibuprofen, Tylenol and most medications severely interact with my other conditions, especially my stomach conditions, so I avoid them as much as possible. Liquid versions aren’t as bad if I can find dye free, citric acid free, versions in flavors I’m not allergic to. These can help for a lot of people though, just ask your dr if you’re unsure.
• Brushing the broken area, gently, to clean out any food particles that might be stuck in it is hit or miss but can make a difference. It’s always sore for a while after brushing so that’s a con
• I make homemade clove tinctures with vodka and whole and ground cloves. I let it sit in a glass container in a cool, dark place for as long as possible and shake it when I see it (keep it with your spices you’ll remember it more). Then I take a gauze pad and get a dropper full and put it on it. Both cloves and vodka have anesthetic properties and can numb it for a bit. It’s a very temporary solution, also can cause soreness from pressure on the tooth.
• Hot pad on the cheek can cause soreness too (a running theme) BUT it helps a lot especially with cold sensitivity. After you remove the hot pad you can be extra sensitive to the cold or drafts in the air so that sucks too but it passes after a couple mins usually.
• Waterpik flossers are great for sensitive mouth issues, and clean out the tooth area with minimal soreness. Great but takes more spoons to do than toothbrushing and is less portable.
• CBD oil is hit or miss. I have other serious chronic pain disorders and just like many generalized pain management options, it can sometimes get rid of the headache I didn’t notice anymore or the joint pain I dissociate out of existence. Like yeah, glad thats gone but it just makes me focus on the other pain more. Some CBD options aren’t strong enough to do shit for me.
• Warm salt water gargle/rinse is helpful for me most of the time, and it is really important to keep any broken teeth very, very clean due to infection risk. The warmth and salt can help with the pain overall though and so far doesn’t have negative effects for me. It’s very mild in terms of managing the pain though, it’s like a soft gentle kiss on a boo-boo. Feels nice in the moment but when you’re done it usually just goes back to the pain your had.
• TENS units might work for you. I have several electrical abnormalities in my heart so I’m not allowed to use TENS but I’ve heard they can help. Definitely ask a dr first for this one though because I don’t know all the safety risks especially with facial pain
• Warm environments with no drafts or wind, ideal for this pain, for me is not ideal bc of my cardiac issues.
• Medical ultrasound machine, I’ve used these for other conditions in PT and they help a lot!! I don’t know if you can get these outside of a medical setting, especially for a reasonable price, but a provider might be able to help with this. There is the ultrasound goop they put on wherever they do it though so like, might not be fun and also might be a bit sore after?
• Last resort: adult beverages so I’m not paying attention to the pain. Works best for sleeping for me, but obviously has it’s drawbacks.
I avoid:
- Cold environments
- Drafts and wind on my face
- Cold foods
- Hard foods
- Sleeping on the side that hurts
- Chewing on that side
- Talking too much, chewing gum, etc.
- Going anywhere without at least one pain management option available
- Trying to sleep without a pain management option or plan ready to go
- Not brushing my teeth, at minimum I use mouthwash after meals
And some important reminders:
• Watch out for signs of infection and get treatment ASAP. Dental infections are no joke and can be life threatening quickly, especially if you have certain medical conditions such as heart valve disorders (like me).
• These recommendations are from personal experience, talk to your medical providers to see if they’re right for you. I am not a doctor just a humble chronically ill person.
• These are not a replacement for actual medical treatments for your condition, you should still see a professional if you can.
• Many insurances don’t cover dental, dental issues are more common amongst poor people, rooted in the idea that you can still work with fucked up teeth or without teeth . Hence why they’re called “luxury bones”

Kitty has a couple mental disorders which some stemmed from her childhood. Such as anxiety, self image issues, eating disorders, and depressive episodes.
Her self imaging issues come from being around wealthy and rich people. Feeling that she can't live up to their standards like they expect her to due to her mother being a popular socialite and model. With this she gained eating disorders as well. Usually trying to look her best, not eat so much out in public but gorged herself on food at home. Only to throw it back up since she would get sick off doing so.
She gets overwhelmed and her anxiety hits hard when people raise their voice / scream at her. Kitty tends to shut down during arguments or she'll ramble on and on during the argument. Her anxiety has gone into panic attacks were shes gone to the hospital just because she feels like she can't calm herself down naturally.
When everything feels like her world is crashing around her then Kitty breaks down. Her depression has thank hold of her for months on end while shes pretending that everything is just fine. Things spiral out of control to the point her hoarding tendencies become worse as shes trying to grasp things that make her happy. Wanting to keep every little thing that she can. She doesn't realize shes going down this dark path until someone comes to check in on her and they see that her apartment is more of a mess than usual.
Medications don't really work on her since they make her body feel entirely numb so she depends on either CBD or harder drugs to forget her troubles. She defiantly would hate going to rehab or even being put in Arkham. Since you know they'd totally put her on medications for her mental disorders and not care how she felt. Kitty really dislikes how she can't sleep at all after dealing with anxiety pills due to the fact it was supposed to calm her down but instead she felt far worse.
Kitty might have some other mental disorders but I haven't decided upon them yet. These are just the usual ones that plague her everyday life. Probably also has ADHD, really wouldn't be surprised by that at all since its harder to diagnose in women and I totally feel that she has it.
Off the top of my head I'm unsure what other illnesses she could have. Just getting the easy shit out of the way.

So my neurologist actually did something right for once and gave me some ambien to help me sleep while I'm on the steroid pack since I already have insomnia and steroids make it WAY worse, and I was really excited because this is legit what I've been wanting a doctor to do for like over a year now...but it didn't really help me sleep, at least not as well as the weed does.
I could possibly just need a higher dose(I am known to be very resistant to these sorts of meds, it takes like twice the normal dose of propofol to put me under) or maybe the steroid is just so powerful the meds can't make a dent in it(which I'd believe since I'm really sensitive to steroids and the weed ALSO doesn't help me sleep as well when I'm on them), and also it's really hot and humid right now which makes it hard to sleep in general AND I just got my bc implant put in which is making it hard to sleep since I have to be careful with my left arm and I like NEED to be able to switch what side I sleep on cuz my shitty arthritic joints don't like staying in one position for too long...but this is a bit of a let down ngl. I was really excited to be able to sleep and then maybe use this as proof that I can be trusted with sleep medication and I could finally stop having to spend damn near $100 on weed gummies every month and a half just to Sleep At All but like...hnnnn.....
Idk, when I see my primary I'm going to beg her to send me to a sleep specialist again bcs the weed is NOT sustainable it's already expensive and on top of that I am absolutely building up a tolerance which means I have to take more to sleep and thus spend more money and it's so fucking annoying. I've already made a lot of progress in the trauma department too and that hasn't really helped me sleep better which leads me to believe this is def a result of one of my other medical issues, I def think a sleep specialist is the best bet rn.
The plus side tho is she gave me 15 ambien and I only have three days of the steroids left, and my arm should be healed better in the next couple of days, so I should have a chance to test the ambien without the dual whammy of the arm pain and steroids wrecking my system, and if even that fails well that's a 15 day T break for the weed which honestly I really do need so like there's that.
Also since I have a bunch of new followers quick FAQ/rundown before anyone gives advice:
I have bipolar disorder type II and adhd and severe chronic pain from fibromyalgia, arthritis, and hEDS. The adderall for my adhd isn't the problem, I actually sleep WAY worse without it. I don't drink that many caffeinated beverages and I especially don't drink them basically at all when I'm on steroids so that's not it either. At least a little of my insomnia is due to trauma and not having a dog currently, but I can't adopt another one right now for numerous reasons, and EMDR has helped the trauma nightmares/anxiety let up quite a lot but that hasn't helped me sleep. I can't take CBD it makes my brain feel like I'm hooked up to a car battery. I also can't smoke bcs asthma so unfortunately I am stuck buying edibles which are very expensive. Insomnia isn't on the medical marijuana criteria in my state so I can't even make it cheaper that way. Melatonin does nothing. Benadryl also does nothing. Exercising before bed also does nothing. I can't do yoga(hEDS) or meditate(adhd). Cutting down on screen time before bed doesn't help and I already spend as little time in my bedroom as possible during the day so my brain keeps associating being in there with sleeping. Listening to music/a podcast doesn't help. Sleepy teas and nice baths and all that before bed doesn't help. I have a weighted blanket which does help a little, but sucks bcs it traps heat like a motherfucker, but I'd sleep worse without it so yeah. Also I can't make my house any cooler/less humid because I'm renting and it's old and shitty and doesn't have real air conditioning and the little portable ac unit + dehumidifier is trying but like...it's not enough I'm still hot and sweaty all night.
I am on hydroxyzine and nortryptraline and they don't make me even a little tired. I cannot take SSRIs or SNRIs on account of the bipolar and the fact that I'm just really sensitive to stuff that messes with my serotonin, even when I'm on a mood stabilizer, and the only med that I can stand that does serotonin stuff is the nortryptraline and it's also the only thing that helps my pain so switching it to something else isn't an option. I build up a resistance to seroquel really fast which makes my insomnia infinitely worse in the long run so I don't see the point in taking it. I have tried basically everything my psychiatrist can think to give me outside of narcotics, which led to her straight up telling me to my face she just can't help me before clarifying that apparently narcotics are somehow worse for me than not sleeping so she won't prescribe them even if they might help. I don't snore or wake up gasping for air so I know I don't have COPD or sleep apnea.
Literally the only thing that has ever made sleeping easy is weed(and opioids but those don't help my pain and have so many hoops to jump through so I don't wanna take them anymore), specifically indica with CBN, but it has to have THC in it I've tried pure CBN + CBD gummies and they don't make me tired they just make me feel weird 'cuz of the CBD.
So yeah. I am up shit creek without a paddle and I really quite desperately need to see a sleep specialist. I appreciate advice but like believe me, I've tried just about everything I can think of and none of it helps. I just naturally have really bad insomnia. And it sucks.

Fun facts that will be deleted later:
I am clinically diagnosed with IBS-D/M, hypertension, GAD, bipolar II with major depressive disorder. Also type 2 diabetic. Half diagnosed spine issues. Probably auto immune issues.
Also I'm autistic, 99% sure I have ADHD
annnnd chronic migraines as of the last few years. They are not every day, but between 4-5 days a week depending on whats triggering that migraine.
It is not yet diagnosed. Have not had money for the doctors I would need for this one. I only have ideas of what causes them based on what helps.
Common triggers are--
* My period. (Im on depoprovera, so this is rarely an issue)
* Allergies. Specifically for sinus focused headaches. I'll also get these headaches any time I have upper resp. Issues.
* Neck Strain. Stretching helps. Heating pad helps. Not sitting at my desk like a shrimp. Not sleeping weird. Yeah all that helps for these migraines. Also, CBD pain relief cream.
* sometimes, more rarely, spinal issues. I have deterioration and some...weirdness in spine that pinches a lot of things randomly.
* blood sugar. Usually if it hits 200+. Relaxation techniques and LOTS of water for this one because I am on metformin, not insulin. Also take your medicine correctly you turd. (At myself, lovingly) Did you know stress can increase your blood sugar? Yeah.
* rarely, high blood pressure. My blood pressure is usually pretty good these days though.
* I B S . FUCK YOU IBS. FUCK YOU. WHY DOES A STOMACH ACHE GIVE ME A HEADACHE. YOU ARE THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
Yeah. I am a shambling house of issues. I am not sure I remembered to list them all. Anyway i hate headaches and migraines and pain. My body is rude. I'm going to sip water now.

Hi, I'm considering taking CBD for sensory processing issues, I'm wondering if you have any personal experience with that or maybe your followers do?
Hi there,
Everyone will have a different experience, however it has shown to help with negative effects. According to a study from National Library of Medicine:
This case study aims to demonstrate the use of cannabidiol (CBD) with low-dose tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in managing symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to increase the overall quality of life for these individuals and their families. ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting cognitive development, behavior, social communication, and motor skills. Despite the increasing awareness of ASD, there is still a lack of safe and effective treatment options. The study includes a nine-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with nonverbal ASD. He exhibited emotional outbursts, inappropriate behaviors, and social deficits including challenges in communicating his needs with others. Since the patient was unable to attain independence at school and at home, his condition was a significant burden to his caregivers. The patient was treated with full-spectrum high CBD and low THC oil formulation, with each milliliter containing 20 mg of CBD and <1 mg of THC. CBD oil starting dose was 0.1ml twice daily, increased every three to four days to 0.5ml twice daily. Overall, the patient experienced a reduction in negative behaviors, including violent outbursts, self-injurious behaviors, and sleep disruptions. There was an improvement in social interactions, concentration, and emotional stability. A combination of high CBD and low-dose THC oil was demonstrated to be an effective treatment option for managing symptoms associated with autism, leading to a better quality of life for both the patient and the caregivers.
The full study will be below in case you want to read more:
I hope this helps. Thank you for the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ♥️

Exploring the Wellness Benefits of Cannabis-Infused Drinks: A Sip Towards Better Health
Tumblr media
In recent years, cannabis-infused drinks have emerged as a popular choice for wellness enthusiasts seeking alternative ways to enhance their health routines. These beverages, ranging from CBD-infused teas to THC-infused sodas, offer a convenient and enjoyable way to incorporate cannabinoids into daily wellness practices. Let's delve into the key benefits of incorporating cannabis-infused drinks into your wellness routine and discover how they can contribute to your overall well-being.
Stress Relief and Relaxation:
One of the primary benefits of cannabis-infused drinks is their potential to promote stress relief and relaxation. Cannabinoids like CBD have been widely studied for their anxiolytic properties, which may help alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, and tension. Sipping on a CBD-infused tea or beverage can offer a calming effect, allowing you to unwind after a long day and promote a sense of relaxation.
Pain Management:
Cannabis-infused drinks containing CBD or THC have shown promise in managing various types of pain, including chronic pain, inflammation, and discomfort. CBD interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, which plays a crucial role in regulating pain perception and inflammation. THC, on the other hand, possesses analgesic properties that can help alleviate pain and improve overall comfort. Incorporating these drinks into your wellness routine may provide natural relief from pain without the need for pharmaceutical medications.
Sleep Support:
Many individuals struggle with sleep issues such as insomnia or poor sleep quality, impacting their overall health and well-being. Cannabis-infused drinks can offer support for better sleep by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night. CBD-infused beverages are particularly popular for their calming effects, helping to quiet the mind and prepare the body for a restful night's sleep.
Mood Enhancement:
Maintaining positive mental health is essential for overall wellness, and cannabis-infused drinks can play a role in supporting mood balance and emotional well-being. CBD has been shown to interact with serotonin receptors in the brain, which are involved in regulating mood and emotions. By modulating serotonin levels, CBD may help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, promoting a more positive outlook on life.
Potential Neuroprotective Effects:
Emerging research suggests that cannabinoids like CBD may possess neuroprotective properties, offering potential benefits for brain health and cognitive function. CBD has shown promise in protecting against neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, as well as reducing the risk of age-related cognitive decline. Incorporating CBD-infused drinks into your wellness routine may help support brain health and cognitive vitality as you age.

Is CBD Oil Safe and Worth Your Money?
A medical cannabis expert weeds the hype from the truth about the herbal cure for pain, depression, anxiety and insomnia.
You can’t turn on a daytime TV program or flip open a lifestyle magazine without hearing or reading about CBD, short for cannabidiol. It’s the biggest buzzword in holistic health news, and statistically speaking, it is expected to reach around 1.8 billion dollars in U.S. consumer sales by 2022, a whopping increase from around half a billion dollars in 2018.
What exactly is CBD?
CBD is the non-intoxicating component of the cannabis sativa plant. Cannabis plants can either be classified as hemp or marijuana depending on the quantity or percentage of THC in either plant. This distinction was established by the FDA: Cannabis plants with 0.3 percent or less of THC are considered hemp and those with more that 0.3 percent are consider marijuana.
So in a nutshell, CBD that is derived from hemp will not make you high. You should also ask your primary physician about using CBD while taking medications.
Kisha Vanterpool, medical director of Medicinally Jointed, a medical cannabis spa and alternate health practice located in South Philadelphia, says the biggest misconception her patients have is understanding the difference between CBD and THC.
“Some associate CBD solely with cannabis (marijuana) which carries its own stigma of being used to attain a high,” the board-certified internist explains. “But really, cannabis is an herbal medicine that has many benefits. Through educating my patients around the plant as medicine and how it interacts within our bodies, patients then become more open to its use.”
What is CBD used for?
Studies show consumers are using CBD — sold in oils, lotions, balms, bath salts, coffee, oral sprays and gummies — as a specific therapy for pain, anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. Depending on the product, prices range from $20 to $100.
Nira Hyman turned to CBD three years ago to help manage chronic back pain and joint inflammation she’s endured for about 15 years. The 46-year-old was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, a type of rheumatoid arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis, which affects the spine.
“Chronic pain is quite isolating, so I’m open to trying almost anything. My research led me to THC, then to CBD. It helps mute the pain. It’s still there, but the volume of the pain is dialed down. CBD doesn’t manage my pain on its own, but using that along with other stuff on my regimen can make a difference,” she says.
“Most of what I use is handmade. It’s expensive but worth it. Friends ship balms or soaks to me. And yes, the sellers are Black. I believe strongly that Black women belong in the cannabis industry, so the louder our voices the better.”
The Brooklyn, New York, native also uses CBD to alleviate anxiety. “It may be a placebo effect, but I do feel it helps my anxiety. And I prefer using something that’s natural and naturally medicinal. I’d much rather take CBD — and I do use high doses — than opioids. My doctors agree, off the record,” says Hyman.
Vanterpool recommends CBD to her female patients to help them with anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes, menstrual cramps, endometriosis and other chronic pain. When shopping for CBD products, she suggests consumers research the product “to ensure that it truly contains CBD and has been tested for contaminants such as pesticides, bacteria and fungus/mold.”
Is CBD FDA-regulated?
Not currently. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently published a consumer update on its website (FDA.gov) that addresses the claims that cannabinoid (CBD) is a cure-all, risk-free miracle drug.
Although the FDA is presently gathering data from health professionals, cannabis industry representatives and patients to learn more about the efficacy of CBD, the agency wrote, "there are many unanswered questions about the science, safety and quality of products containing CBD.”
Where can I find CBD products in my area, and is it legal in all fifty states?
Remember the 69-year-old grandmother from North Carolina who was arrested at Disney World for packing CBD oil in her purse?
Federal law says CBD oil products are legal to possess if they contain no more than 0.3 percent THC, and CBD products are readily available online. Do your research to find products that are safe, effective and legal. Consumerreports.org has an informative guide. Be aware, however, that some states like Florida, Ohio and Texas generally don’t differentiate hemp from marijuana. So before you purchase or travel with CBD, check the state laws.

Embracing Wellness: Exploring the Synergy Between CBD and Self-Care
In an ever-demanding world, tending to our well-being through self-care has grown into a vital practice. Among the array of methods available, CBD (cannabidiol) has emerged as a promising aid to elevate our self-care rituals. This article delves into the realm of self-care and CBD, uncovering the potential of this natural element to harmonize with our pursuit of a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
Understanding Self-Care
Self-care extends beyond mere indulgence and encompasses the conscious steps taken to nurture physical, emotional, and mental health. From sustaining a balanced diet and regular exercise to cultivating positive mental habits, it encompasses a spectrum of activities that contribute to an improved quality of life. It involves designating time for relaxation, introspection, and renewal.
The Role of CBD in Self-Care
CBD, a non-psychoactive derivative of the cannabis plant, has gained traction due to its potential therapeutic properties. Worth noting is that while CBD originates from cannabis, it lacks the psychoactive effects linked with THC. Instead, CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, regulating functions such as mood, pain perception, and sleep.
Managing Stress and Anxiety
CBD's reputed ability to alleviate stress and anxiety has garnered attention. By influencing mood-regulating brain receptors, CBD may mitigate symptoms of anxiety disorders. Incorporating CBD into self-care rituals could potentially provide a natural means of managing daily stressors and promoting tranquility.
Enhancing Sleep Quality
Restful sleep is a cornerstone of self-care. CBD's potential to improve sleep quality by addressing insomnia and sleep disturbances has been explored. Its calming effects may facilitate relaxation, contributing to a peaceful night's sleep.
Easing Pain
Whether it's chronic pain or exercise-induced soreness, CBD's anti-inflammatory properties could offer relief. By interacting with pain-perception receptors, CBD might help manage discomfort, contributing to an overall sense of well-being.
Revitalizing Skincare
Self-care extends to skincare, fostering a sense of well-being. CBD-infused skincare products, like creams and oils, are believed to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that promote healthier skin. The act of massaging these products can itself become a relaxing ritual.
Incorporating CBD into Your Self-Care Routine
Before integrating CBD into your self-care regimen, diligent research and consultation with healthcare professionals are essential, especially if underlying health conditions or medications are involved. Consider these steps:
Research Trusted Brands and Products
The CBD market offers an array of products, from oils to edibles. Seek reputable brands that provide third-party lab tests to ensure quality and potency.
Commence with Minimal Dosages
For CBD novices, starting with low doses and gradually adjusting allows you to assess its effects and find the right balance.
Prioritize Consistency
Consistency is pivotal in any self-care practice. Incorporate CBD into your routine and observe its impact on your overall well-being over time.
Harmonize with Other Self-Care Approaches
While CBD can amplify self-care, it isn't a universal solution. Pair it with practices such as meditation, exercise, and a balanced diet for holistic well-being.
In Conclusion
Self-care is a journey of self-nurturing, and CBD may prove to be an adjunct in this voyage. From stress relief and improved sleep to pain management and skincare, CBD's potential aligns seamlessly with self-care objectives. As you traverse the path toward comprehensive well-being, remember that self-care is about personalization—both in terms of practices and products. Prioritize your health and consult professionals when integrating new elements. With an informed approach, CBD can synergize with your quest for a more harmonious and enriching life.
