I have decided to share my story of how I got to 113.2kg my highest ever recorded weight.
It all started when I was 16. A healthy 60kg at the time. I started having mental breakdowns and was put on an antipsychotic by the time i was 18. I was not informed of the side effects and that I would have to change my eating habits. To eat healthier and continue with regular exercise.
I was 17 and a half and entered into a relationship that would change my life forever. I was SA many times. The only control I had was food. I looked gaunt from the relationship and skinny.
Cut to 18 years old and a new relationship. He had a secret food stash in his room. We would sit and eat our feelings as we were both mentally unstable. This became a habit in my life. I would hide packets of biscuits and chocolate in my room and binge in secret. This was an ugly combination with the meds I was put on.
I then went on to move cities for school and get burnt out. The vending machine was my best friend. I never exercised. Not like I did in high school where I would walk the whole of my town every night with a friend. I became a recluse and a hermit. Only showing my face at my makeup school. The weight continued to pile on and I was a whopping 90kg by the time I left and moved back home.
Desperate to form a relationship with anyone, I soon found the man that would become my longest relationship of 2 years. I moved in with him and his parents pretty soon after. Huge mistake. I was severely depressed and he enabled my bad eating habits. We would eat horribly for the whole 2 years. Having our own tubs of ice cream and many lollies and pizza. I got to 113kg and probably even higher.
I broke up with him pretty quickly when I had a falling out with his parents and moved back home. Best thing for me was moving back. I soon lost weight and got to 88kg. I was happy. I met a boy who body shamed me at my then lowest weight in years. He forced me to workout and kept a record of my weight and what I was eating. He was a bully.
We broke up and in rebellion I ate heeps of food shaved my hair and had a full on mental crisis. I gained all the weight I lost back. I tried to lose it for years but each time I got worse mentally.
In 2024 on May 12th I decided enough was enough. I needed to lose weight for me. I decided to put me first and work on the mental side of things and finally lose weight.
I'm now happy to say I've lost 11kg since that date and I'm learning new things about myself everyday. I'm learning to not hate my meds and that I can lose weight on them. I'm learning to love myself and be confident in my own skin.
Ultimately it was my fault that made me gain all the weight. I did have things stacked against me but I chose to eat that food and not exercise. I chose to leave myself behind and not take care of myself. It was my fault. Only I can fix it.

A calorie is a unit of energy, like a joule. It's a unit of energy equivalent to the heat energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 °c.
We use calories to measure the amount of energy in our food. In the body, calories not used are stored as adipose tissue (fat.) In addition to energy storage, fat also protects our organs.
We can get a rough approximation of how many calories a body needs using a TDEE or BMR calculator. (TDEE is your BMR + Intentional Movement, BMR is the calories you need at rest unmoving.) There are *more* accurate ways to measure this but it requires equipment.
Energy above the amount required for movement and function is stored as fat. If you need to gain weight, take in more energy (food) and don't use it. Eat more, move less.
This is why sufferers of severe Anorexia are put on bed rest, even walking takes too much energy because they just don't have enough stored as fat or being consumed in the form of food. All their calories need to be put to the task of recovering from organ damage, healing wounds, and gaining a healthy store of fat.
The opposite is also true. If one want to lose fat, they must burn the fat for fuel (this is it's intended purpose, it is fuel.) Consuming more energy than needed for movement and function will result in the extra energy being stored as fat. This is how weight gain functions.
"Counting Calories" is simply a way of ensuring you get the appropriate amount of energy for your body. Those intending to gain weight often count calories as well.
TLDR: want to lose weight? Eat Less, Move More. Want to gain weight? Eat More, Move Less.

Sunday 10/27 - Day 0
I can't tell you how many times I've had a "last meal." So many times I've told myself, "You'd better have one last food hurrah so that you can get it out of your system." The thing is, it's never out of your system. When you've spent years eating like I do, building an addition like I have, it's never out of your system; never off your mind.
I don't know if you can tell from my precise setup, but I ate this meal a lot. I would order through the DQ app, and it got to the point where I got a part of this "meal" for free with points every time I ordered. This is nearly 3,000 calories.
And I don't ever want to do this again.

Calories 101
📢 Welcome to my blog! Today, let’s break down Calories In, Calories Out (CICO)—the fundamental principle behind weight management. If you’ve ever wondered how fat is stored or how to track calories properly, this guide will give you all the answers! 🥑🔥 What is Calories In, Calories Out (CICO)?
CICO is the simple idea that your weight is determined by the balance between: ✅ Calories In – The energy you consume from food and drinks ✅ Calories Out – The energy your body burns through metabolism, movement, and digestion
➡️ If you eat more calories than you burn, you store fat. ➡️ If you burn more than you eat, you lose fat. ➡️ If calories in and out are equal, your weight stays the same.
🔹 Example: If your body burns 2,000 calories daily but you consume 2,500, the extra 500 calories get stored as fat over time. DISCLAIMER: Most people burn around 2,000 calories a day just to stay alive! These calories are burned from your body digesting food, thinking, and keeping your organs functioning—even if you don’t move at all, just from sleeping. Now, imagine if you’re exercising—this can make a massive difference in your body over a month or two!
It’s not necessary to eat less than 1,500 calories if you’re exercising because an average workout burns 300–500 calories. Cutting calories too low can slow down your metabolism and affect your energy levels, so balance is key!
How Fat is Stored & Burned
🔥 How Fat is Made
When you eat more calories than your body needs, the excess energy is converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells.
Over time, excess fat accumulates in different parts of the body, leading to weight gain.
🏃‍♀️ How Fat is Lost
When you eat fewer calories than you burn, your body breaks down stored fat for energy.
Triglycerides in fat cells are converted into energy, shrinking the fat cells, leading to weight loss.
💡 Key Takeaway: A consistent calorie deficit (eating fewer calories than you burn) is required for weight loss! 💡 Final Thoughts Understanding CICO can help you take control of your health and fitness. Tracking, awareness, and consistency are key!

All of this is good but one further quibble with something Max said up there:
In particular, calories-in calories-out is not a myth: it cannot be a myth, it is (essentially) thermodynamically impossible for you to not lose weight if you consume fewer calories than you burn
This is not true, and it's frankly not that hard to realize it's not true if you think about it critically for a moment.
Consider a car. A car is similar to a human in that it consumes calories for motion (and heat). And while technically speaking it's true that a car with a full tank of gas weighs more than a car with an empty tank of gas, the actual difference in weight is so small that it's practically-speaking false.
(It's possible to gin up a situation where it's just literally false, like if you captured your exhaust or were using gasses in the air as fuel. In that case you really wouldn't lose any weight at all when burning fuel, and could even gain weight. But the car example is one most people are familiar with.)
In actual practice, a car that is burning fuel faster than it takes it in will eventually stop running. (And in fact this is an option for people too: if you stopped eating completely, you would starve to death long before you lost a significant amount of weight.) A car will not lose significant amounts of weight through burning fuel because most of the weight of a car is structural weight, not fuel weight.
The reason humans can lose weight when we burn calories isn't a matter of thermodynamics, it's a matter of human anatomy. It's because a large part of the body weight of the average person is stored fuel that weight loss through dieting is possible. If that wasn't the case, you would die if you tried to diet rather than losing weight.
Just found out that the dietary calorie is still measured by burning food in a "bomb calorimeter" and then measuring the heat produced. There's no solid evidence that this method is at all equivalent to how our bodies process food (an entirely different chemical process from combustion), the accuracy of this system has been disputed for as long as it's existed, and there are no available alternatives
There are 4800 calories in a kilogram of dry sawdust even though wood is completely indigestible to humans, because calories don't measure nutritional value, just how well something burns
Nutritional "science" is pure bullshit

Uhhh did anyone actually read the studies in this?
Me: Exercise does not cause weight loss. This is a fact that has been demonstrated so robustly in research that even doctors, who hate and fear evidence, are grudgingly starting to admit this.
Someone reading that post: Cool, but have you considered that exercise leads to weight loss?
Me: I am going to eat you
