thinking about guard dog characters and attack dog characters. the different ways to protect your people. characters who take the defensive versus the ones who never let it get to that. ones who, when someone bares their teeth, will bare their teeth in return, and ones who need only see the glint of teeth before tearing them limb from limb. it's the difference between "i would die for you" and "i would kill for you." characters who are ready to compromise their life or their morals, who have already made that sacrifice in their mind, who have fangs and claws and are always ready to use them, because ultimately these characters are fundamentally the same: they will protect you, and they will do anything.

Man. If I had a nickel for every time Zac Oyama and Lou Wilson had to rp a breakup-coded fight between their “platonic besties” characters because Zac’s character was experiencing a hard personal internal struggle and decided to leave a group/cause that he wasn’t actually invested in and mostly just joined because Lou’s character was passionate about it and Lou’s character was canonically very charismatic and good at garnering followers/admirers but Zac’s character was one of his only true friends that he fully trusted and was loyal to and Lou’s character was really hurt when Zac’s character left, less by the actual action of leaving and more by the implication that he didn’t care about Lou’s character enough to stay I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s fucking RUDE that it’s happened twice.

Zac Oyama makes a dnd character and I’m just like. Yeah so I’m obsessed with this. Every time without fail. Maybe it’s mostly because I am just obsessed with Zac.

baby girl looking through my drafts and came over a post about colin and deli and how they broke up because of their differing philosophies. how their outlook on life differed, how they viewed the world was so fundamentally different they couldn't stay with each other without changing themselves, and how they still loved each other despite it and didn't stop even after the separation. how they were still willing to die together even after they realised they could never live together. love perseveres but so does morality
