She turned out a little messy bc she boiled at the edges but it was sooooo fucking good + i got to use cherries from my cherry tree
FILLING:
1) pit 4 cups worth of fresh cherries, add to medium saucepan with 1 cup pomegranate juice, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, and 2 tsp lemon zest.
2) cook 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly, until cherries are soft and mixture is thickened.
3) gradually add 4 tsp tapioca powder, stirring vigorously.
4) remove from heat and stir in 2 tsp lemon juice and 3 drops of almond extract. Set aside to cool. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
CRUST:
1) in a food processor, combine 1 + 3/4 cups all purpose flour and 3/4 tsp kosher salt.
2) cut 3/4 cup unsalted butter into cubes and add to food processor. Pulse until butter is broken down into pea-sized pieces and the texture resembles bread crumbs.
3) take a bowl of ice water, and gradually add 5 tablespoons of water to the dough until it comes together into a crumbly ball.
4) turn dough out onto a floured surface and split into two balls, one larger than the other.
5) take your pie dish and set it near your workspace. Using a rolling pin and lots of flour, roll the larger ball out until it is about an inch larger than the circumference of your pie dish. Turn the dough on your work surface frequently with a spatula to prevent sticking.
6) place your rolling pin on the dough and carefully roll the crust up and over it, using the rolling pin to carry it over the pie dish and drape it across. lift the edges to let it fall into the bottom of the dish. If you’ve never made a pie before, watch some videos first.
7) cut off the excess from the sides and reincorporate the dough into the other, smaller ball. Roll it out into a rectangle and cut into 8 inch-thick strips. A ruler is handy for this.
8) fill the pie with the filling and dot with chips of salted butter. Then create the lattice over top, trim the edges, and crimp the edges thoroughly with a fork. Push up the edges slightly to create a rim and prevent spilling. (You can see i didn’t do a very good job at this part)
9) cover edge of pie with tinfoil to prevent burning. Place on a baking sheet and bake on middle rack of your preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil, bake for additional 25-30 minutes or until golden. Cool before serving.

Does anyone have any ideas for WoT bracelets
I've been wanting to make WoT bracelets for agesssss except I have zero clue as to what to put on them- finally got around to buying thread so that's a start (though I still need to find beads that actually look good and I should probably also go and find wires and crimps and lobster clasps and split rings and eye pins and everything else because I ran out ages ago and never bothered to get more-literally all I have on hand right now is a pair of pliers). Would love to hear any ideas as to what to make (also I have experience actually making my own jewellery w/ wire and pins and stuff so I'm not opposed to trying something with those btw). Feel free to say whatever you want, I do not mind at all :)
Also this is a friendly reminder that my DMs are always open to everyone who wants to yap about Wheel of Time (especially Moiraine).

Oh Lordy this is a saga. For a super duper long time I didn’t care and just wore whatever. Jeans and t-shirts , it was the 70s and early 80s. I remember a pair jeans I had with rainbows on the back pockets, and a long sleeved ocean pacific shirt that everyone made fun of because they said it was a knockoff and not a real OP but it totally was. I had long hair that I didn’t cut and didn’t even pull back and it just hung around my face like Carrie. In 8th grade I got totally into wearing headbands and had 4 or 5 including one that was puffy and red like a ring of Saturn around my forehead. I can only assume this is the costume of a girl who isn’t interested in getting boys to like her, though it wasn’t that conscious in my mind just yet.
The last time I switched schools was 1985, just before my junior year. That’s also the summer I met Jessie and saw the Hunger, so it was time for a change. We went goth/punk 1980s Oklahoma style. I remember three wardrobe standouts: a pair of ballet flats with hieroglyphs on them, a black sweatshirt I cut the collar off, flash dance style and would wear over everything, and a tight, short skirt that was one continuous print of that 50s photo of people watching a 3D movie. I wore that until all the elastic went out and I couldn’t keep it on my ass any more 😂
Jessie and I split up when i went to college. I stopped dying and crimping my hair and let it grow out long again over the course of some years. I stopped trying to hard to be alternative looking, but I still liked black clothes, lots of ruffles and layers. Legit I had a black velvet cloak I wore when it was cold. I had a barrette shaped like a bat and used it to pull my hair back, on the days I didn’t braid it and pin it up Masterpiece Theater style. Dress like this and go sit in a tree and read Jane Eyre with zero irony. WHY DONT LESBIANS WANT TO DATE ME?!! 🤣🤣🤣
When I started teaching in the early 90s I had to go to the (thrift) store and buy adult looking clothes. Lots of jumpers (American meaning) and cardigans. This evolved into dresses and cardigans, I liked short waists, big skirts, no buttons, and a pair of Birkenstock Mary Jane’s which I still own. My off work style was kind of similar. Dresses and skirts and cardigans. I started wearing more colors, but it was still boho chic. Linen, velvet, the occasional Indian find with mirrors embroidered onto it. I cut my hair into the curly bob I wore for the next 20something years and continued to have very few dates.
After my kid was born and I was a stay at home mom, I let my hair grow again and plan to keep it long. It’s easiest for me, and I like the way it looks. I still prefer dresses and skirts, natural fabrics. I still only shop at thrift stores, and am interested only in pleasing myself, so I love to find odd pieces. I started wearing scarves around 2007 and now they’re a part of my look to an almost ridiculous degree (my kid was teasing me about thrift shopping the other day and said ‘yeah you gotta go to every one! What if you miss a scarf!) but I don’t care because they’re gorgeous and warm and dress up an outfit and frame my face while hiding my old-lady wattle 😂
One of the moms on car duty the other day was dropping off her daughter and gave me a long appraising look, then said critically “What does your husband have to say about the way you dress?” I was so shocked all I could say is “Mr Frizzle loves it.”

Poppies
- Jane Weir (1963-p.)
Three days before Armistice Sunday
and poppies had already been placed
on individual war graves. Before you left,
I pinned one onto your lapel, crimped petals,
spasms of paper red, disrupting a blockade
of yellow bias binding around your blazer.
*
Sellotape bandaged around my hand,
I rounded up as many white cat hairs
as I could, smoothed down your shirt’s
upturned collar, steeled the softening
of my face. I wanted to graze my nose
across the tip of your nose, play at
being Eskimos like we did when
you were little. I resisted the impulse
to run my fingers through the gelled
blackthorns of your hair. All my words
flattened, rolled, turned into felt,
*
slowly melting. I was brave, as I walked
with you, to the front door, threw
it open, the world overflowing
like a treasure chest. A split second
and you were away, intoxicated.
After you’d gone I went into your bedroom,
released a song bird from its cage.
Later a single dove flew from the pear tree,
and this is where it has led me,
skirting the church yard walls, my stomach busy
making tucks, darts, pleats, hat-less, without
a winter coat or reinforcements of scarf, gloves.
*
On reaching the top of the hill I traced
the inscriptions on the war memorial,
leaned against it like a wishbone.
The dove pulled freely against the sky,
an ornamental stitch. I listened, hoping to hear
your playground voice catching on the wind.

Coffee & Donuts
Summary: Arthur’s thrilled to be part of a crowd. Though the evening doesn’t go perfectly, Y/N’s flirtations make it sweet.
Warnings: Smut
Words: 4,602
A/N: Alright. After the heart wrenching angst of my last piece (which I love, by the way; don't get me wrong! 😂), I had to write another story in which Arthur and Y/N are happy and together. It's inspired by one of Arthur's visions during their kiss. I hope you all like it! Special thanks to @jokerownsmysoul for beta-ing!
If you have any thoughts or questions, please comment, feel free to message me, or send me an ask. Requests for Arthur and WWH are open!
Tumblr media
Parties and celebrations weren't foreign to Arthur. He'd worked plenty, enough to make him realize what he'd been missing out on. He was well-versed in pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, and balloon animals. But as an adult, those activities didn't satisfy. He wanted to be included rather than paid. Connect with people, introduce himself. Discuss his experiences and pursuits. Feel sufficiently at ease to loosen up a little and have a good time.
Now he was a guest - a certified guest - at Patricia Gorman's fifty-sixth birthday party. The first party he'd been invited to since being the weird kid in class who'd rotated between three worn out sweaters and could never afford a gift.
He'd been a tad apprehensive about going to Burnside. Gotham's nicest borough had a reputation for high rents and low tolerance. When Y/N and he had entered 2E, however, Patricia's greeting ("You made it!") and the apartment were thoroughly welcoming. Crocodile brown walls and forest green shag carpet made the spacious living room a cozy hideaway. Marigolds leapt across the polyester of the T-cushion sofa and its easy-chair companion. The floor lamp's amber, crimped glass shades cast the spacious living room in a glow borrowed from warm autumn days.
Patricia's husband, Robert, was out on an emergency call. An HVAC had gone haywire in a residential building in Hinckley. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson had been by for lunch. That meant the only other guests were Matt - Y/N's old boss - and a bottle-blonde in a black halter dress and spike heels, who Y/N introduced as Laura. ("She's Matt's ex-wife," Y/N later disclosed. "He's been trying to win her back since I moved to Gotham.") Both shook Arthur's hand when he offered it, and he felt a little thrill whirl his stomach when Y/N laid claim to him by telling the woman, "This is my husband."
A collection of appetizers served as dinner, a fun and novel menu. The slow cooker meatballs Y/N and he had lugged over on the subway were a bit tangy; he still couldn't believe the recipe called for grape jelly. The deviled eggs with paprika, a pleasant mix of savory and sweet, was a dish he'd heard about on television. Cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches were light and airy, a good match for his iced tea. Only the artichoke and spinach dip gave him pause. Its beans and hot sauce made his taste buds wince.
That unpleasant flavor was quickly forgotten when Y/N pulled him to sit next to her on the sofa, so Patricia could open her presents. She proudly showed off the orange, clay ashtray her grandson had made for her. Arthur, having successfully kept the secret of her light smoking from Y/N, chuckled at Patricia fibbing she'd put candy in it. She thanked Matt and Laura for the champagne, wrapped in a silver bow with a simple "Happy Birthday" tag. The bottle wasn't popped. Upon peeking into the large giftbag Y/N placed on her lap, she made a soft sound. The Dazey whirlpool bath, which attached to the side of the tub and had three strength settings, was a hit. She announced her plans to try it in the morning. The dark blue Rexbuilt briefbag was intended to replace her cracked, leather briefcase, Y/N explained. Patricia ran her fingertips along the expanding inner compartments, the personalized planner that included the credential "CLA" after her name, and flipped through the included steno pads, eyes brimming.
She sipped at her cocktail and put an arm around Y/N. Melancholy tinged Patricia's voice. "At my age, the people in your life tend to stay the people in your life. Whether you like them or not." She reached further and patted Arthur's knee. "I'm glad an old dame like me gets to call you all friends." His throat clenched in gratification, though he wasn't daring enough to squeeze her hand and thank her for deciding he was a friend.
Still on top of the world an hour later, Arthur sauntered to the red and white enamel dining table to serve himself a second slice of upside-down pineapple cake. The evening had gone well, better than a guy with a natural inability to mingle could've expected. He bobbed his head to the beat of "Come Fly with Me." It was a happy coincidence that Patricia's taste in music aligned with his. She'd regaled him with tales of seeing Sinatra and Count Basie on her and Robert's honeymoon in Vegas. Arthur took a bite absentmindedly, wondering how long it would take for him to save the money to surprise Y/N with plane and concert tickets.
The daydreaming didn't last long. Matt's plodding footsteps preceded him, followed by a long sigh as he propped himself on the beige stone of the dining area's accent wall, across from the u-shaped kitchen. He held out a Budweiser and smirked. "Marriage is a hell of a lot of work."
Pleased that he was being treated like one of the guys, like a regular husband with a regular relationship who got to speak about his regular wife, Arthur accepted the beer and considered the comment. Matt's sentiment was hard to grasp. Dr. Sally had said marriage could be difficult, and Y/N's first hadn't survived the ripples of her life. But it didn't feel like work with her. Their arguments were minor. Her nagging him to find a primary doctor for annual check-ups, even though he'd survived this long without one. Or back in Missouri, when he'd told her to stop shielding him and trust he could take anything she had to give.
Arthur adopted a similar nonchalant posture and jutted his hip against the table's edge. "I like it. It's easy to take good care of her." He wasn't able to completely erase the smugness of success from his tone.
"You're what? Two years in with the most headstrong woman in Gotham? She's great and all, but she spikes my blood pressure." Matt slapped Arthur's back and let out a hearty guffaw. "Give it five more and you'll be in my office trying to avoid alimony."
"Don't. Say that." Arthur crinkled the can in his grip and glared up at him.
"Hey," Matt started, withdrawing even as he tried diplomacy. "It was just a joke. I didn't mean anything by it."
Flinching, pulling at the cuffs of his red sweater, Arthur fought the surge of anger in his veins. It wouldn't do to lose control and cause a scene. Of course Matt's comment about them splitting up was supposed to be a joke. But Arthur didn't find it one bit funny. Even with his complete faith in her and his firm belief that they were meant to be together, the possibility that she'd stop wanting him hurt. It didn't occur to him that the implication of the punchline could be that he'd get sick of Y/N.
With a muttered apology, Matt walked to the others in the kitchen. Arthur glanced over to see her laugh tipsily, until she grabbed her stomach and swatted Patricia's shoulder, a stark demonstration of how much he and Y/N differed. She always knew how to respond to people, the right comebacks. Appropriate timing and levels of interaction. It seemed she was in her natural element, the loveliest swan on a lake. Whereas after years of therapy and practice with her, he was still a fish out of water, flopping around on the shoreline in hopes some stranger would take pity on him and throw him back into the sea.
Maybe that was the real punchline. Eventually their contrasts would no longer complement each other and instead become a chore.
Scowling, he ambled towards the record player stationed before two double-hung windows. Increased the volume to drown out the intrusive notions. It didn't really work. He settled on a grounding technique he'd practiced, all the while lamenting that he couldn't handle a party without needing it. His attention went to the spinning LP, the needle following its grooves. The bright blue album cover, where Ol' Blue Eyes beckoned him, the scuff marks on the cardboard's corner edges. He acknowledged the spider plants sat on the windowsill, worried a papery leaf until it broke off. He stared out the window, taking in the whole of the city. Pinpricks of light dazzling in the darkness.
"Gotham's beautiful at night," Y/N said from behind him. He glanced over his shoulder to watch her approach. Her cheeks glowed with alcohol and good cheer, the collar of her ivory blouse unbuttoned. "There's a life behind every light out there. Ten million of them. Here. Try this." She offered her hurricane glass, filled with an off-white slush.
He sipped the pina colada with cautious skepticism and grimaced as soon as it hit his tongue. The blend of pineapple and coconut tasted of cheap sunscreen and tropical imitations, the kind advertised in smudged brochures for bad cruises to islands with made up sounding names. "No, thanks."
Snorting, she shrugged and embraced his back at the waist. "How are we doing?" she asked, curling into his side. After a few seconds, she prodded him. "Had your fill of Matt?"
"He was just joking." Arthur rubbed the back of his neck and sighed.  She set the drink next to the record player and brought her hand to his, trailed it over the inside of his wrist, up his forearm. She pecked his chin and nudged him until he turned to her. As soon as their gazes met, the concern in hers told him she'd continue to pepper him with questions. But he wasn't about to let his misplaced doubts spoil her evening. And he knew the perfect way to distract them both.
A new song started. An oldie that sang of Jupiter and Mars, playfulness among the stars. He cupped her cheek, thumb sweeping the corner of her mouth. "Dance with me," he said. Before accepting his proffered palm, she laid a sloppy kiss on him. With a flutter of her eyelashes, she grinned, and his smile grew to match her own. As he held her side, led her in a slow, swaying circle, he marveled at her. At her ability to soothe every molecule, every lingering ache. Self-assurance welled in him, chased away his earlier dejection. He cradled her to his lanky frame, trembled and felt himself blush. She was the only woman for him. That was as certain as his cigarette habit.
Despite Patricia's reassurances she was fine, that Robert working late wasn't unusual, Y/N insisted on staying until he got home. Though Arthur would have preferred they take their leave an hour earlier, being allowed to smoke inside blunted his grumbling. The disarming flirtations she bestowed on him also didn't hurt. She'd pour herself a drink (four in total, if he counted correctly), help Patricia make a plate of leftovers for her husband, then throw him a wink. Whisper and cackle while cleaning, then kiss his temple.
Around midnight, Patricia put her foot down. Ushered them out with a promise to call and a hug fierce enough to crush his ribs. She raised a brow at Y/N's unsteady gait, grasped Arthur's arm, and said with a wry, tired smile, "Make sure you put that woman straight to bed." His dark brows shot up and held. Had she intended a pun? Or had Y/N's spare caresses caused the interpretation? Either way, he liked being trusted to take care of her. And the hint of arousal that flared in his belly.
By the time they stumbled into their apartment, that arousal had reduced to a dull exhaustion. She kicked off her heels on the way to the bathroom, calling a slurred "night!" as she closed the door. Yawning, he put dish soap and hot water in the crockpot, scrubbed burned bits of sauce from its rim, turned it upside down on a towel to dry. Once he'd brushed his teeth for one minute rather than the recommended two, he tossed his sweater, trousers, briefs, and socks in the hamper, and went to the bedroom. He found his blue pajamas in their usual spot, the chair in the corner, and slid them up his skinny but toned legs. Tucked in next to her, he was carried to sleep on waves of fatigue and her quiet, wet snoring.
~~~~~
A tickle threatened to rouse him. Whispers along the waistband of his bottoms. Heat snuggled his back. Delightfully drowsy, he cuddled deeper into cozy, cream-color sheets, already returning to a pleasant, dreamless slumber. But a rumble of exhaust, likely from a bus that needed a new muffler, dragged him to consciousness. Arthur grumbled and tucked his arm under his pillow, not ready to transition to a world of overcrowding and concrete, commotion and bad jokes.
Yet, Y/N's insistent grazes continued, luring him with promises of placid pleasure. Her toes wiggled at his heel until he made space for her to slip her foot between his ankles. The corner of his mouth quirked. He was reminded of last night's playfulness, her endless teasing. The way he'd held the crockpot as a shield to fend off her advances on the train home, her forwardness to the point that he would've preferred having a laminated card to present on her behalf. Forgive my wife: she has a condition. It causes frequent and uncontrollable displays of affection.
Nimble fingers edged lower, loosened the tie of his pajamas before dipping beneath the loose elastic to lace through his dark brown curls, darker than the chestnut hair on his head. Her knuckles ran over him, lazy caresses full of intent. Up and down, up and down. Delicate. Deliberate. The blood racing to his groin, the pleasant swelling, made his abdomen twitch. Soon full and heavy, the sensitive tip straining the cotton seams, he pressed his lips together. When she skimmed the tender skin resting on his inner thigh, he flexed the muscle at the base of his erection. It bobbed and hit her wrist and she let loose a girlish giggle, more intoxicating than wine.
With her left leg draped over him at the knee, she undulated against his rear. Plush lips brushed the boney knobs of his spine, damp breath fanned the nape of his neck, labored, needy. Pebbled nipples grazed his back through the thin nylon of her nightgown, taunting and compelling. He made up his mind to throw an arm around her, to yank her on top of him. To eagerly take part in her seduction.
But she withdrew from his bottoms to palm his stomach and plant a gentle kiss to the shell of his ear, whispering, "Sleep tight." The mattress shifted and she rolled away from him. He furrowed his brows. She rarely relented this easily - other times he'd awakened, hard and aching, enveloped by the captivating wetness of her mouth. What was she up to?
Covers rustled. Her calf bumped his. And the opposite of what he'd assumed occurred. Instead of light footfalls leading out of the room, there was silence, silence that seemed to stretch on and on...
Until a hitched gasp gave her away.
Touching herself. She was touching herself. She'd just been all over him, acted like he was some sort of model on the cover of Vue magazine, and now she was touching herself. Right beside him! Ecstatic to have inspired such brazenness, he grinned and fisted the pillow. Her fleeting, stifled moans tangled him in knots, implored him to give her what they both burned for.
He flipped in her direction, his hand shooting under the sheet to grab hers. "Gotcha."
Eyes wide, she gaped at him in surprise. But adoration softened her expression as she entwined their fingers. "How long have you been awake?" she asked.
"Long enough."
He stretched to rewind the shades, the diaphanous curtains staying in place. Sunlight diffused over them, wrapped around her face, lent her disheveled hair a warm luster. He twirled a feathered lock and pecked her eyelids. "Finishing what you started on the subway, hm?"
"Me?" Y/N brought his knuckles to her mouth.  "You're the one who came to bed without any underwear."
"Well, it was a late night." The pad of his thumb tugged at her bottom lip to reveal the pink tip of her tongue. He bent to claim it. "I was lucky to find my pajamas."
Chuckling, she broke their connection. "Did you have a good time?"
"Yeah. The cake was good. And the music. Everyone was nice."
"Patricia loved having you there. She thought you were very sweet." A pause as she mapped a dimple. "Matt said he'd upset you. Something stupid about breaking up?"
Vague shadows of discomfort flashed through Arthur, a frustration he'd mostly moved on from. He did his best to ignore it, waving her concern away. "Don't worry about it."
"He was just jealous, you know." Her nails ran along the small of his back. "He wants Laura to look at him the way I look at you."
Arthur had spent so much of his life yearning for change, to understand his purpose in the world and improve himself. The idea that a man with a good education, a successful career, and no disabilities could ever be jealous of him was, frankly, bizarre. But he didn't correct Y/N, instead locking her praise within his heart, preserving it for when he needed it most. He boosted himself on his forearm and fiddled with her V-neck, traced its button loops as he slipped the plastic knobs through them. "And how's that?'
A hint of scandal glimmered in her irises. She arched into him as he eased a strap down her upper arm to reveal her shapely breast, the lilac fabric momentarily catching on its taut peak. "Like I can't get enough of you."
He huffed at that, fondled her faintly before his lips met the velvety skin of her chest. A tonic comprised of the musk oil she'd dabbed on before the party and distinct sexual wanting wafted to his nostrils. He licked at her nipple, the bumps on her areola, and drew it between his teeth. She whined softly and lifted the bottom of her nightdress to her waist.
Hurriedly, he yanked on the waistband of her cotton panties, pushed them past her knees. She kicked them off while he knelt to lower his bottoms. Straddling her, he pumped himself back to hardness and opened the drawer of her nightstand. He searched haphazardly until he retrieved a small, glass bottle of lubricant. (She'd ordered it from a mail catalog, both of them a bit too bashful to walk into an adult shop, even together.)
She snagged it from him and poured half a teaspoon in her hand, then palmed herself. He moved between her legs and she grasped his length, coating him with the warm, slippery liquid. He pushed forward into her. Gradually, slowly, savoring every millimeter of her enticing heat. He noted the stretch of her mouth, the jut of her jaw, the lifting of her upper lip. "Mmm..." she breathed and begged him to keep going. When he did, her head tilted back into the pillow, eyelids falling shut. A smile cut across her cheeks as she purred her satisfaction. "Arthur, I love you."
His touch wandered down the curve of her thigh. At the sight of her subtle writhing beneath him, the sway of her slightly uneven breasts in time with his languid thrusts, he pushed her knee into the mattress, splayed her wider. He grunted lowly. "Look at me."
Their gazes met but didn't hold for long; hers dropped to where they were joined. She caressed right above his pubic bone. "I love seeing you like this." Her fingertips walked a line up his sternum to his chest. "And touching you like this." She wrapped her arms around his middle and drew him to her, locked their lips in a greedy kiss. "And making love like this."
He snorted. "I think this is the only reason you married me."
"Well, not the only reason. There's your good hair, too."
"I've been thinking about cutting it. Trying something new."
"Don't you dare." She tugged at his loose curls, wore her best pout. "What else would I hold onto when we're doing this?"
Laughing lightly, he bumped his nose to hers. Falling into her was like falling into his old fantasies, the ones that'd sustained him through years of isolation. Dates at diners, at comedy clubs, at donut shops, at home. Their shapes had changed as he'd matured, his role in them, his aspirations and infatuations. But they'd remained a warm comfort nonetheless, a place that felt like belonging. And now he belonged with her. Hunger filled him. Happiness. And love. So much love, more than he'd ever believed he'd carried in him. He bucked a little harder. "You feel so good," he murmured. "You make me feel so good."
A strained cry left her and her pelvis answered his steady rhythm with demands of its own. Her calves rose to squeeze him closer, encircle his narrow hips. They were pressed together so tightly; it felt like they were one flesh. He never wanted it to stop. But a dizzying euphoria had ignited, one that eclipsed the romantic yearnings of his heart, twisting his desire to last all morning into the desperate drive to possess her. Gasping, Arthur raised himself to his knees, delving deeper with each push. Their foreheads met and he grit his teeth at the scald of her, the texture of her walls. She fit as though she'd been made for him.
He supposed she was.
Pressure began in the base of him, building and building in terrific torment. The muscles of his inner thighs contracted inward. Tingling climbed his shaft, his tailbone, his spine. He wove his fingers into the sheet, his grip a vise that wrested its corner from the mattress. She kissed the spot where his jaw met his neck, all the while murmuring encouragements for him to let himself go.
Bliss shot through him, from the tips of his toes to the follicles on his scalp, and his back stiffened as he whimpered and poured into. Fever engulfed his frame, sublime in its frenzy, leaving him in a heady stupor. Aftershocks made him tremble. Once, twice. Until, sated and spent, he landed on top her. He closed his eyes, ribs rising and falling as he forced air into his lungs.
A minute later, he swallowed and looked down at her. "You didn't come."
She carded through his sweaty locks. "It's all righ-"
"Shh." He slid out of her and settled at her side, reached between her legs to swipe at her core. "I'm not done," he declared, tracing the edges of her entrance, slick and swollen. One of his favorite things about getting her off was demonstrating his prowess in bed, how well he'd learned with her. His thumb met her plump clitoral hood, and he felt her throb beneath his ministrations.
Nails biting his bicep, she rocked upwards. A bewitching blush crept up her breast, her neck, spread across her cheeks. Shallow pants hit his face, short puffs suffused with high-pitched whines, utterly irresistible. He circled her nub at a steady cadence, tapping when she'd shiver, and she clasped the back of his hand. He swirled his tongue around her nipple, sucked the pretty peak, and lowered the other strap of her nightgown to bare her completely. A hushed plea fell from her lips. "Please, please..."
Suddenly, her vulva grew white hot and she seized, her hips stuttering with each flutter of his touch to her folds. She thrusts her breasts towards him, a sharp moan caught in her throat. Liquid pooled against his fingers, proof of her rapture that made him wish, with mild amusement, that he could be an unmedicated young man again. He would've gladly taken her a second time.
Giggling and rubbing her temple, she released a long exhale and opened her eyes. He brushed her hair back and grinned, completely smitten, like the first time he'd heard a joke and understood the punchline. The light brown picture frame on his nightstand caught his attention, and he regarded the wallet size photo in it, one of the shots of Y/N from the booth at Amusement Mile. The last thing he looked at before turning in each night. He lay his head her shoulder and hummed, listened to the drum of her heart.
She smooched his hairline and wriggled out from beneath him to stand. Her nightie had been reduced to a crumpled stripe of lilac cinched about her waist. It felt tawdry and shameless and he wanted to see her in it for the rest of the weekend. But she peeled it down her legs, wrinkling her nose when it got stuck on her thighs, and stepped out of it one foot at a time. She dropped it on the floral bedspread and retrieved her bathrobe from the closet. "Meet you in the kitchen," she said, opening the door.
The sun had risen higher, its beams slanting across the covers. He basked in it, catlike, then swung his legs over the side of the bed. He pulled on his pajamas, got a new pair of socks from their dresser, and made his way to the kitchen. He washed off the remnants of Y/N's arousal from his fingers, popped open a prescription bottle and took a tablet. He poured water into the coffeemaker, grabbed the can of grounds from the second shelf, added three scoops to the paper filter. Their three-tone brown mugs sat in their spot next to the machine, waiting to be filled.
When the glass coffeepot was half full, Y/N emerged from the bathroom, chuckling to herself. She opened the breadbox on the opposite counter and took out a wax paper bag. "Do you have any idea how dull this morning would have been if we'd never met? I'd have read the Sunday paper, had a drink. Probably worked on a file." He handed her a couple dessert plates, watched her put a donut on each one. "I wonder where you'd be. What woman you'd have breakfast with, what jokes you'd be writing, what magic tricks you'd have learned."
"Um..." At first he wanted to ask where this speculation had come from, if Matt had let her in on exactly what he'd said. But the confident slant of her smirk told Arthur she was teasing. He tried to play along but winced. No matter how appealing, how extraordinary she found him, his gut told him there wouldn't have been another woman. There'd be no more stand-up routines, no more Carnival. He certainly wouldn't be taking care of Penny. He'd likely be locked up in the hospital, maybe even dead. Without an anchor, his life would have lost what little sense it had.
Y/N was one of his anchors now, hooked into the sand alongside his material, treatment, the ability to pay bills. He seized her hand and squeezed it tight, unaware he was squishing her fingers. "I don't wanna think about it," he said quietly.
She sidled up to him and pulled him to her side. Rubbed his flank soothingly and pecked the corner of his mouth. "Don't worry." She took his chin and guided him to look at her. The intimate comfort of her smile helped him believe her next words, even before she spoke them. "I'll always be here."
Sickly sweet Emily au fluff responding to the prompt: ‘You’ve got flour on your cheek’ and an @xfficchallenges prompt: ‘You broke my heart’.
Sunday Morning: fic
She’s on a stool against the bench, eyebrows sloping, tongue clamped between her teeth, cheeks pink with exertion. There’s a ceramic bowl, a rolling pin in both hands, a lopsided circle of dough with crimped edges before her. A haphazard pile of cookie cutters in assorted shapes lies to one side, as yet unused. The oven is warming and there’s already an aroma of sweet, sweet anticipation in the air.
“Is it even yet?” Emily asks, blowing a wisp of fringe from her eyes and Scully bends down to look at the height of the dough.
“Not quite, sweetie,” she says. “Keep trying.”
“You’re not going to go full science on her and measure that to nearest millimetre, are you Scully?”
“If it’s not level, the cookies won’t bake evenly,” Emily says, a serious parrot.
“If they’re made with love, they’ll taste delicious, whatever shape or size they are,” he says, twisting an end off the dough and popping it in his mouth.
Emily tuts dramatically. If she weren’t holding the rolling pin, he’d be rewarded with a hands-on-hips eye-rolling sigh. “They’re not ready, Mulder.”
Swatting his hand with a tea-towel, Scully repeats Emily’s scolding. He leans back against the bench and admires his team. Scully looks good in an apron. An over-sized grey thing with an alien head on the front that he tucked under her Christmas tree last year, a kind of unconscious nod to a more domestic future. Emily is wearing a Cookie Monster apron and a mini chef’s hat at a jaunty angle.
Emily selects a cutter. A dolphin. She sets out making the shapes with the same precision as Scully would. Scully smiles at him, her eyes full of admiration for this child whose very being is miraculous, whose existence has pulled them together in ways they could never have foreseen. Making cookies in their kitchen on a Sunday morning is as wild as life gets these days, and it feels so fucking good that the only choices they have to make is whether to have chocolate or vanilla.
Emily counts to eight before switching shapes. With a deft slice, Scully lifts and lays the dolphins in a pod on the oven tray and slides it onto the oven shelf. Her hair flutters on the warm draught and she smooths it down, in that coy way he’ll never get enough of.
By the time he’s dragged his eyes off Scully, Emily is already six hearts in to the next round. She’s struggling to free the sticky dough from one so he stands beside her, takes a knife and slips it around the insides. The dough falls to the surface but splits on impact.
Emily’s lips wobble. “You broke my heart, Mulder.” She says it so indignantly that it’s hard not to laugh at her jutting chin and white-knuckled grip on the cutter. Such a Scully spitfire.
Sifting flour over the bench top, he takes the dough, remoulds it into a ball and together they roll it out again. He chooses a cutter, takes her small hand in his and presses it into the dough. She giggles as they loosen the cookies together. Her small face turns up to his. “You’ve got flour on your cheek,” she says, giggling and daubing her white-tipped finger on his other one. “Silly, Mulder.”
“Hey,” he says, dropping another cookie on the tray. “You’re the one making Christmas trees in July.” The triangular points of the cut dough are sharp and clean. “Who’s sillier, I ask?”
“But you chose that one,” she says, pouting. “Besides, they’re just fir trees any other time of the year.”
Scully turns her back to laugh, the knot of the apron bobbing up and down with the rhythm of her shoulders.
“So, Professor Emily,” he taps the tray of cookies on the bench, ready to be cooked, “here’s the thing…as it’s not currently the 14th of February, which in some places in the world is known as Valentine’s Day, can you tell me what love-hearts are called any other time of the year?”
Emily screws up her nose and thinks for a long, hard minute. She chances a look at Scully who’s waiting with equal anticipation. “My-o-car-dee-ums.” She grins at him, drops a tree on the tray and kisses his floury cheek, before adding, “silly.”
Spell Jar: Fuck You; Not Today Bitch
Today, I present you with the “Fuck You; Not Today, Bitch” spell jar. It was supposed to be a standard protection charm, but once I sniff-checked some of my ingredients, I decided to get nasty with it. This jar is a gift for a friend of mine who’s going through some hard shit.
Tumblr media
Here is the most important takeaway from this spell: it is not meant to be a containment trap. It is meant for the diversion, capture, and neutralization of negative energy. If the jar is broken, unsealed, or otherwise compromised, it only ceases to work; It does not release a huge store of negative energies back into the world (or back onto the bearer or caster). At the end of it’s cycle, there is no need to elaborately cleanse or ritually dispose of the contents (but you can if you want to).
This also means it has little to no maintenance required, so it’s a good charm to gift to someone who has little experience with magic or spellcraft.
+How It Works+
Negative energies seek out the bearer: weaker energies are warded off by the armored scale, and the more powerful ones are lured by the shininess of it. These predatory energies then see the fluff of white wool, and believe it is an easier target than the bearer; because of the lavender, it cannot detect what lies in wait beneath the cork. The energy enters the jar.
Upon entering, it is distracted and disoriented by the tiger’s eye bead, driving it away from the lid and down past the pins. Once it bypasses the heads of the pins, it cannot reach the lid of the jar again. It is cut, divided, and weakened by the jagged topaz inside. The herbs act as purifiers, but also poke, burn, and disinfect the energy trapped in the jar. The process repeats itself, powered by the presence of the oak, and the energy—already weakened—becomes mildly intoxicated.
Finally, after being exhausted and cleansed, and too sluggish and weak to fight, the energy becomes inert. It is then filtered out through the salt layer, rendering it harmless, and expelled through the bottom of the jar.
+ Materials and Composition +
1. Grounding Material: Pink Salt
You need a good grounding material for the bottom of your jar. This is going to be what cleanses, filters, and dissipates the negative energies that get trapped inside. If I was going to be pleasant about it, I’d have probably used sand and some very fine gravel, but I wasn’t being pleasant. I chose salt for three reasons: salt in the wound stings like a bitch, salting the earth means a lack of return, and I specifically chose pink salt, since the mineral impurities bring it closer to the earth element from which it comes.
2. Filtering Materials: Black Peppercorn, Cardamom Seed, Lavender, Wormwood, and Rosemary
You might notice that all of these fall under the “herbs used for protection” header, and you’d be right, but I chose them for their secondary properties.
Peppercorn and cardamom because of their hardness and bite/spice/heat; rosemary for sharpness (scent and physical; I think pine needles would serve the same purpose); wormwood for counteracting disease; lavender for fragrance and masking the presence of the other herbs.
I used five pieces of each (five for the cardinal forces, and it’s generally an inoffensive and deceptively simple number).
3. Power, Intoxication, Chastisement: Vodka-soaked French Oak
I happen to have a bag of French oak chips that we used to make a flavor tincture, using vodka. I included one of the dry, used chips, for...let’s be honest, it’s oak. The vodka essence brings a quality of intoxication, while the oak itself provides a number of benefits: naturally enhancing the power of the spell, a conduit for your standard Pagan Goddess/proxy for the caster (or as I think of it, a presence of “NOW you’re in for it”), and it also brings positive energy into the jar to act as a battery to keep the whole thing running.
4. Purification, Refraction, Cutting, Heat: Topaz
I used this in place of another type of quartz (like amethyst), because I wanted the heat of the yellow stone, and also because all of my other quartz pieces have been tumbled, and smooth/round shapes were the opposite of what I wanted here. The piece I used a rough piece of topaz that had both rocky edges, and some napped edges, which gave it both a transparent crystalline quality and a foggy coarseness, all in the same piece. This was perfect here, because I needed the crystal to cut, refract, and purify the negative energy, but I was now able to disorient it by leading it into dead ends (the foggy, coarse sides).
I accidentally cut my thumb open while putting the shard into the jar. I can’t say I’m surprised or disappointed. I managed not to bleed on anything on my work station, but for this application it seemed more than fitting. At the worst, it’s an extra level of “fuck you” infused into the topaz. I knew I had the right piece for the job after it bit me.
5. Entrapment and Protection: Sewing Pins
Five white-headed sewing pins, placed needle-down. White for protection, and to keep the energy of the pin from flowing through both ends of the steel (you definitely want this directed away from the opening). The pins themselves keep the things that get into the jar from getting out again.
These are taken from the box of applique pins that I have used many times, so they are infused with a strong, stable energy of patience, quiet determination, and the love of building something to make someone else happy.
6. Disorientation: Blue Tiger’s Eye Bead
Before sealing up the jar, I drilled a small hole in the cork stopper, just large enough for a beading pin to be pushed through. Then, using a silver beading pin, I secured a small synthetic blue tigers’ eye bead to the underside of the stopper and glued it in place on the outside of the cork.
The bead is meant to be flashy, shiny, and disorienting. The purpose for the bead isn’t for purification or other filtering purposes, so it didn’t matter if it was synthetic. I chose the color for purification, and also because it looks really pretty. Being round doesn’t hurt either, and neither does the material of the silver pin.
Instead of the bead, I’m sure you could substitute a crinkle of aluminum foil, a couple of sequins, or a shred of holographic-print cellophane. The purpose here is confusion.
I left the pin un-crimped, for assembly purposes.
+ Assemble the Jar +
I glued the cork into the jar, carefully spreading the glue on the cork itself, close to where it would meet the lip of the glass. I didn’t want a bunch of it getting into the jar and gluing salt up near the lid where it wouldn’t look as nice. This is a mundane application, just to keep the jar together.
Once the lid was in place, I melted some beeswax and poured it around the join of the cork and jar, to create a seal that would be difficult for negative energy to bypass. This is a magical application, as bees and their wax are both symbols of protection and defense against disease, bla bla bla. Crayon wax would’ve also been fine, but I already have a jar of beeswax pellets for spellcraft.
7. Decoy: White Wool
To the top of the jar, I secured a small bundle of white wool made from five separated strands of yarn. The wool, by color and content, are both purifying elements, but the softness of it suggests purity and tranquility. The wool is meant to be bait for negative energy: it’s an easy target.
8. Lure and Protection: Aluminum Scale
The final piece was the addition of an aluminum scale, of the kind used in chainmail. This scale offers some armored protection and shielding from smaller energies, but the shininess and brightness of it is meant to attract the attention of larger, more predatory negative energies.
+ Finishing +
After I put the scale on a small split ring, I used jewelry pliers to twist down the beading pin and secure them together. This not only holds the scale in place where it can bobble and move, but it also gives the jar a small loop so it can be hung from a necklace if that’s what you’re after.
Did you try this spell jar? What materials did you use? What substitutions did you make?
However, I believe that for plenty women, maintaining the habitual and glamour in their outward look can make all of the distinction inside the world in keeping off despair. Anything you could do to help within the restoration process may be a effective step throughout this critical time and for some of us that means taking note of these splendor rituals and this vicinity of our lifestyles that allows us to step out of the house feeling put together.
After 9 years of frequently supporting ladies at their health center bedside who are challenged with one situation or another and experiencing hair loss, I even have really visible miracles show up whilst a lady places on a new wig, takes a have a look at herself in the mirror and suddenly feels beautiful again and gets her 'mojo' returned. It offers her that more umph she needed to work harder to triumph over her circumstance. Remember, human hair wigs, alternative hair, created hair - which ever term you resonate with - is non-respiratory hair; it has no natural oils, so it wishes hydration and replenishing.
Okay, allow's speak approximately Synthetic Hair wigs first.
Since synthetic hair is crafted from kanekalon, a nylon hair, it calls for exclusive merchandise then are used on human hair. Synthetic hair comes in silky or crimped styles and could be very cheaper. The silky kanekalon is nice and instantly, some are made with built-in frame.
There are several extraordinary sorts of artificial hair ranging in charge and pleasant. The highest-best type of synthetic hair is known as monofilament, monofiber or "mono" for brief, which looks and feels very much like human hair.
The motive of cleaning artificial hair is to remove scalp oils which could increase over time. Also, in case you use a variety of styling products, this buildup could make the hair look dull and can also promote tangling. I advocate my clients who are constantly carrying their synthetic pieces to wash them once each ten to twelve times they put on it. If they use a number of styling merchandise, its best to clean the hair as soon as each 5 or six wears. It's vital to remember the fact that washing artificial hair will surely decrease its existence span, as nylon will lose its elasticity and sheen with washing, so strive now not to apply excessive quantities of product. Just placed on enough product to do what you want for the appearance you are attempting to reap and wash best while wished.
When brushing:
Brushing artificial hair will help keep away from getting tangles and knots. A regular hairbrush ought to now not be used on synthetic hair considering that it'll purpose the ends to cut up and get frizzy. Purchase a unique synthetic hair comb or brush at any beauty deliver store. Using a broom with rubber suggestions on the bristles can be used for synthetic and for human hair as well to keep the hair fibers from splitting.
Brush the hair earlier than washing to cast off any tangles. A wig "detangler" spray may be carried out to assist separate the strands if important and smooth out any knots.
Place the piece on a honey blonde lace front wig head. They come in Styrofoam or canvas. Either may be used. Place small T-Pins at the temples, brow and alongside the nape to preserve the hair in vicinity. This also will prevent inversion (whilst the hair comes thru the interior of the wig).
For artificial hair, a few people will use at-domestic products as easy as laundry detergent observed through a good wig conditioner. Others use specific artificial wig care merchandise that may be bought on line and at maximum beauty deliver shops and specialty wig stores.
Insulated terminal crimping machine
In the era of high technology, various advanced equipment has appeared. In fact, different equipment has different functions, which naturally brings greater help to the production of enterprises. In today's era, the requirements for products are very high. No matter what kind of product is not good in quality, it will naturally not be able to gain a foothold in the market. Therefore, we must choose more advanced equipment to meet specific needs while producing products. The crimping machine is a kind of equipment that enterprises pay more attention to in production, and the insulated terminal crimping machine is a good choice.
Terminal machines occupy a large proportion in the wire harness industry, and most of them will use terminal machines. The basic functions of the terminal machines are the same, and different models or terminal machines with different prefixes will be differentiated in function. Terminal machines can be divided into automatic terminal machines, stripping and tapping machines, ultra-quiet terminal machines and so on.
Today, I will take you to learn about the pre-insulated tubular terminal crimping machine. The tubular pre-insulated terminal is a type of cold-pressed crimping terminal. It is called pin-type cold-pressed terminal in the industry. The main function is to conduct electricity and realize an accessory product for electrical connection. The tubular pre-insulated terminal crimping machine can also realize automatic terminal supply, which is already very convenient in use, and there is no need to replace the crimping die, which reduces the time for product processing a lot.
Tumblr media
Insulated terminal crimping machine is a necessary tool for wire connection crimping in the power industry in the construction of line infrastructure and line maintenance. The insulated terminal crimping machine is one of the crimping machines.
Structure of insulated terminal crimping machine
It consists of an oil tank, a power mechanism, a reversing valve, a pressure relief valve, and an oil pump mechanism. The oil pump mechanism consists of an oil pump body, high and low pressure oil outlets, eccentric shafts, eccentric bearings, driven gears, a pair of high pressure oil pumps, and a pair of high pressure oil pumps. The low-pressure oil pump is composed of the oil pump body suspended on the oil tank cover. The high and low pressure oil outlet holes are opened on the oil pump body and connected with the pressure relief valve oil circuit. The eccentric shaft is arranged longitudinally. Equipped with eccentric bearing, the driven gear is fixed on the top of the eccentric shaft, connected with the power mechanism, the high and low pressure oil pumps are suspended on the oil pump body, each has an actuator that touches the eccentric bearing, and the pump cavity of the high and low pressure oil pumps They are respectively communicated with the high and low pressure oil outlet holes. Advantages: The connection between the pumping mechanism and the power mechanism is a vertical connection, which can make full use of space and reduce the footprint, which is conducive to operation and transportation; the pumping form of high and low pressure oil pumps is changed to the actuation form of eccentric bearings. It has a simple structure and few parts and is conducive to assembly.
Crimping machines are divided into hydraulic crimping machines, large-tonnage crimping machines (punching presses), insulated terminal crimping machines, crimping pliers, split crimping machines, and hand-operating hydraulic crimping machines. The following editor first introduces the product features of the insulated terminal crimping machine:
The insulated terminal crimping machine realizes multiple functions in one machine, which can be realized by changing different crimping dies.
The foot switch is of ordinary type or pressure-holding type (optional), with an air pressure regulator, which can adjust the air pressure holding time to ensure accurate tight crimping and prevent insufficient crimping.
The use of air pressure operation is light, simple, fast, and easy to carry. It can perform high-efficiency crimping operations with about 1200 actions per hour.
The tube-type pre-insulated terminal crimping machine is touch screen operation, jog frame skipping depth and length, and can also save the set parameters. When it is used again, there is no need to set the parameters. In addition, the tubular pre-insulated terminal crimping machine has the functions of automatic induction, stripping, terminal threading, crimping terminal, and automatic feeding. For the three actions of peeling, threading and crimping, the machine only needs 2.5 seconds to complete a cycle.
The complete machine of the tubular pre-insulated terminal crimping machine is a closed design, which is safe and reliable in operation. Although it is semi-automatic operation and requires manual pay-off, the closed design of the whole machine does not have to worry about the safety of the operator. The weight of this equipment is about 40kg, and the heavier is heavier. The equipment with this weight is "stable" and reliable. Zhongchi Machinery now provides this equipment, not only the tube-type pre-insulated terminal crimping machine, but also various types of terminal machines. Those who need terminal machines must be able to find the model they need in Zhongchi Machinery. When the tubular insulated terminal is closely adjacent to the wire connection position, it can improve the insulation safety and prevent the wire from branching, and it can also make the wire easier to insert into the end.
Different industries have different requirements when using equipment. Among them, insulated terminal crimping machine is a very good choice. The use of this equipment is not only better, but also brings greater convenience, so choose This equipment can meet actual needs. Of course, this kind of equipment is also a very important issue when buying, especially in terms of price. As a kind of equipment, there are different regulations on the price, and the price is determined according to different manufacturers. Of course, it also has a great impact on the equipment itself, especially in terms of technical content.
Weijion Automation Equipment Co., Ltd. is a professional manufacturer of insulated terminal crimping equipment, with strong technical research and development capabilities, a strong after-sales service team and precision processing equipment. Our machines are exported to more than 20 countries. It is your reliable choice. If you are choosing insulated terminal crimping machine, tubular pre-insulated terminal crimping machine, please contact us.
The 12.5-ounce tool measures 2.5" high and 3.6" long. Pointedly, they don't list the width; the number is either too ridiculous to print, or even Switzerland lacks the technology to measure something that wide.
Why You Should NOT Solder To The Hotbed
Tumblr media
I am a member of a rather large Facebook group for the Anet printers, and people often rave about having to solder the hotbed connectors and such and blabla, and it is all absolute bull****. It is time to explain and debunk WHY one should NOT be soldering the cables to the hotbed, and what is the ACTUAL proper solution for the connectors burning out.
Tumblr media
All of these posts and comments stem from the fact that people’s connectors burn out. They burn out for two reasons actually, related to the way how Anet cheaped out on them and the fact that they didn’t include a way to secure the cables.
Tumblr media
The first problem is with the current rating of the connector. The connectors in question are JST VHR-6N. Notice that the rating in the official spec sheet is 10A, which is around equal to the current that the bed eats when preheating. It is important to note that this rating is PER PIN, not the whole connector.
Tumblr media
Now, if you look at the hotbed’s pins, you will see that it has TWO plus and TWO minus connectors. Anet decided to use only one of both. If two were used, the current would be split up between the two pins and each would happily run with 5A of current.
EDIT: The official specs state it is not a good idea to spread the load on two cables if the current exceeds the maximum rating. However, if you are doing things correctly and safely, it should not matter. The current limit is 10A, and that is generally the maxmimum amount that the bed will pull during preheating. Two cables might deliver current asymmetrically, but it should not matter as each will still be well below the current rating.
Tumblr media
So, the first possible solution is to buy a pre-crimped connector like this one. Note that you should probably find a longer one somewhere on the internet. this one is too short.
Tumblr media
The other solution is that you could crimp the connectors yourself. In this case, you will need the connector housing and the individual pins. Please check the links for relevant parts. You also don’t need cables as thick as everyone says you do. These pins accept a cable of maximum 0.83 mm2, and I used 0.75 mm2. For those who don’t understand the metric system, that is AWG 18. Anything bigger than that won’t be securely crimpable.
EDIT: On the image above, I crimped the connectors manually myself without using an adequate tool. I would highly suggest against this. The cables will fray no matter how much you try over time. Get a proper tool. I suggest getting the cheap SN-28B off eBay.
Tumblr media
The other issue stems from the fact that the wires are not secured and strain relieved. This causes arcing on the contact surface between the hotbed pins and connectors in the plug each time the bed moves. We are dealing with very high currents here, so this is a real problem. The arcing slightly oxidizes the connector each time it happens, increasing the contact resistance. A higher contact resistance results in heating up, and eventually, the connector burning out. The best solution is to use a printable strain relief. You could also use a cable chain, and they are completely fine if assembled correctly. You can read more about my failure to assemble it correctly and how I fixed it in one of my previous blog posts.
Tumblr media
So, why should you NOT solder?
Because chances are that your soldering iron is too underpowered for the task of heating up this massive surface. Most soldering irons are too weak, and will not be able to heat up the connectors without losing all the heat to the large aluminium plate. Some people used a hair dryer to heat up the whole surface.
Because you probably don’t have enough experience with soldering to do a proper job. Just look at the image above. I am not sure if it was done satirically or not, but I’ve seen some solder jobs so bad that my head hurt.
Do you understand what will happen when these connectors snap off? You have a set of wires carrying 10A of current soldered to the bottom of your bed and all of the strain is now re-routed to both the solder joints and the copper traces. When one of them breaks off, they WILL cause a short circuit. In a best case scenario, this will result in a fried MOSFET. In the worst case scenario, with your house on fire. People who solder often believe that they suddenly don’t have to add strain relief, which is absolutely incorrect. Unlike soldered connections, when using the connector the cables are securely insulated in the connector’s housing and there is no risk of a short circuit.
What happens when you need to disassemble your hotbed? Will you unsolder again? Will you unscrew the terminals at the MOSFET and then pull the cables through the whole length of your printer just to remove the bed? This causes so many issues it is hard to even count.
Tumblr media
I’ve also seen people wire their hotbeds like this. It does “seem” fine and it will work, but it poses a different set of risks as well. First of all, if one does it like this, using a heat shrink is absolutely necessary to insulate the crimps. Notice how exposed those crimps are. If one gets pulled off, the same happens as with the soldered hotbed. This also means that a strain relief is still a must.
Tumblr media
Secondly, I’ve drawn a simple diagram above. This is how the connection between these crimps and the pins on the hotbed look like. The contact areas are circled with red. Does this look like enough surface contact for 5 amps to you?
I hope this post was informative enough to deter you away from soldering to your hotbed or using some weird DIY methods which are sub-optimal. Please, don’t listen to those who tell you to solder to the hotbed.
Hair Cutting Salons
Tumblr media
Beauty Salons
Between dry climate, hot showers, and warmth styling, my thick hair has been feeling dry and weak.
I as of late attempted Briogeo's Superfoods Hair Bar framework ($50) and saw the items as nearly as viable at mellowing my hair as getting a keratin treatment.
Hair Bar is a worth pack that incorporates two full-size containers and two minis of the brand's 'Be Delicate, Be Benevolent' line of shampoos and conditioners, which include supplement thick fixings that feed harmed hair.
After a few washes, my hair as of now looks progressively hydrated, less dull, and feels gentler to the touch.
I'm not one to dance around the issues about my boisterous Mia Thermopolis hair, particularly throughout the winter. Bone chilling temperatures seriously get dried out my thick bolts, while my sudsy drugstore brands contain unforgiving added substances that compound the circumstance. Add hot showers to the blend, and what I suffer is an existence of weak and straw-like strands.
Ordinarily, I'd select a keratin treatment, a compound rebuilding process that fixes and smooths hair (and one I've been doing since center school). In any case, they're costly — beginning at $250 — and require, for me at any rate, a four-hour trip to the Beauty Salons.
I as of late found Briogeo's Superfoods Hair Bar by means of Instagram sleuthing, and it's the main at-home haircare framework that supports my hair nearly just as a keratin treatment.
The Hair Bar esteem set highlights Briogeo's acclaimed "Be Delicate, Be Caring" vegetarian kale and apple cleanser conditioner pair, in addition to advantageous travel-sized adaptations of its banana and coconut equations, all roused by the solid fixings found in smoothies and juices. This line is explicitly planned for dried hair, and thinking about my regular misfortunes, I'd state I'm a certified competitor. (For what it's worth, you can likewise purchase the items independently, however the Hair Bar pack offers the best worth.)
Tumblr media
In 2019, the matcha and apple renditions were proclaimed in Appeal's Best of Excellence grants and portrayed as "a wellbeing retreat for worried hair." A few washes later, I can perceive any reason why: My mane is delicate and smooth.
Here's the way the items work: The 'Be Delicate, Be Benevolent' Superfoods cleanser:
Briogeo's sans sulfate kale-apple cleanser doesn't make my hair super pin-straight as a Keratin would, yet it makes it increasingly reasonable, in any event, when air-dried. With a quarter-size measure of item, I can liberally clean my underlying foundations and sift through tangled bunches easily. Post-shower, my hair feels like silk, a valiant accomplishment in the dead of winter.
Consider it a characteristic smoothie for your hair — stuffed with a characteristic mix that advances hair development and reinforces the root. Regardless of whether you pick the full-sized kale and apple or small scale banana and coconut bottle, the cleanser washes off the development from items, overabundance oil, and grime. In the event that your outcomes are in any way similar to mine, with proceeded with use, your hair won't feel (or look) as flaky and dried.
The 'Be Delicate, Be Thoughtful' Superfoods conditioner:
Briogeo's kale-apple conditioner smooths impasses and deals with my crimped flyaways, acquiring a spot on my rundown of necessities on the off chance that I were stuck on a desert island.
This concentrated conditioner profoundly mitigates and hydrates subsequent to shampooing. Like any extraordinary conditioner for thick hair, its consistency is rich and smooth, which better ingests and ensures the pole (otherwise called the piece of your hair that involves its most basic layers). This makes detangling a breeze, yet enables my hair to feel rich for the duration of the day. I apply sufficiently only to marinate my split closures and coast through the tangles, choosing additional when I intend to utilize hot apparatuses.
Tumblr media
The outcomes:
In spite of the fact that I frantically need a trim, my split closures look observably gentler and progressively manageable. It's additionally important that my hair is totally air-dried here and I don't have other smoothing items in it. Dominique McIntee/Business Insider
The Superfoods Hair Bar conveys a precarious $50 sticker price; be that as it may, as I would like to think, it could really set aside you cash. You ought to have the option to constrain expensive salon medicines and every other week shopping trips for item substitutions. Insignificant item goes far, so I see it as a practical arrangement that takes out the money related weight attached to harmed hair.
(Regardless, in case you're stuck a genuine spending tough situation, we have an entire slew of wallet-accommodating top choices here.)
The reality:
Briogeo's Superfoods Hair Bar is a cleanser and conditioner set that does what it says it will. Because of a blend of nutrients, natural products, and vegetable unsaturated fats, the Be Delicate, Be Thoughtful pair recharges and reestablishes delicate hair while loaning assurance against the impacts of dry climate and warmth harm. Dive in, and you may even wind up setting aside the cash you regularly hold for over the top medicines.
What Airsoft Battery Should I Use?
What Airsoft Battery Should I Use?
When getting into airsoft its hard to choose the correct airsoft battery, whether it is NIMH / Lipo / LiFe / Li-Ion, and then which format of cells you require for your Airsoft gun.
Below we have a short breakdown of the benefits and types of batteries available to help guide you through the purchase of your new airsoft battery.
Battery Chemistry
When choosing  a battery you will notice there are three common types of Airsoft battery
NIMH LiPo and Li-Ion – although other cells are available like LI-FE and NICAD these are becoming obsolete.
NIMH
NIMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) are a great starter battery constructed from cells with a nominal voltage of 1.2v per cell and commonly built-in packs of either 8 or 9 cells producing 8.4v and 9.6v.
These are known for being reliable and low maintenance for people new into the sport,  and most commonly found as a free battery on starter packages.
Pros
Safe
Reliable
Smaller voltage increments
Easy to maintain
Cons
Bulky
Heavy
Inefficient
Storage can be effected by Temperature change and can find on cold days they run out faster.
LiPO
LiPO (Lithium-ion Polymer) are probably the most commonly used batteries in airsoft. This is not only due to there performance but also due to there size.
Lipos typically are smaller and slimmer than NIMH cells enabling them to fit into smaller space. ie stock tubes and stocks with limited space. All though they are common they also have cons
Common Airsoft Lipo pack size 7.4V and 11.1V
Pros
Flat compact cell design
High discharge rate
Not affected as much by cold weather
High capacity to size ratio
Cons
Require a balance charger
Requires additional care when charging
If run-flat they can not be safely recharged
When using LIPO cells please follow any safety instructions and do not leave them unattended
Li-ION
Li-Ion (Lithium-ion) are one of the newest types of airsoft battery coming into the market over the last year or two. Although very similar to LIPO, there are some differences.
From looking at them they can look very similar to NIMH cells in size and shape, however maintenance and performance are drastically different.
Common Airsoft Li-Ion pack size 7.4V and 11.1V
Pros
No Memory effect
Higher capacity (MAH) compared to Lipo and NIMH
High efficiency
Long-lasting
Cons
Can combust
Currently higher price point over NIMH and Lipo but over the last 2 years prices have dropped by around 60%
Bulkier over Lipo sizes making it harder to fit some AEGS
Battery MAH Rating
What is the MAH rating on airsoft batteries? its simple its basically how long it lasts compared to another. Typical airsoft batteries go from 800mah to 4000mah and some reaching up to 7000mah+
All though there isn’t an exact calculation of how long your battery will last (as it needs to take into account how much your airsoft guns draw, and very few are exactly the same)
The more upgraded your AEG is, the more chance it will draw on the battery due to more stress. The power used for the gun to cycle a stronger spring will increase the tension on the motor, causing it to use higher amp draw on the battery.
Along with other factors, like motor start-up current, if using single shot your motor uses higher draw to get the motor started,  compared to when it’s running on full auto.
Battery Connector
There are three common types of connectors used in airsoft below
Tamiya
These are available in two common types both standard and mini Tamiya. Tamiya is the industry standard for out of the box airsoft guns when you first purchase, but normally one of the first things people change out of the box.
All through standard, these can dramatically affect performance in the long run due to the pins becoming dislodged and female ends sprayed causing higher resistance, and risk or short circuit when the connector becomes damaged.
T plug / Deans
T plug are most commonly referred to as deans connectors, and are also available in two sizes – Standard (most used) and Mini.
These are airsoft go-to connectors, providing great connection and low resistance, as well as soldered direct to the cables and not crimped like on Tamiya. Providing a decent join is made, its very unlikely any issues will occur in the life span of these connectors. The main cause of failure is when players disconnect the battery from the airsoft gun by pulling from the cables and not the Deans connector.
XT 30 / XT60
XT 30  and XT60 Connectors all though not as popular these are a great alternative to T plug connectors.
XT connectors provide a secure connection and are rated up to 60 amps on a XT60,  providing low resistance and high draw capacity.
Battery Layout and Design
When buying an airsoft battery you may be confused when looking at all the different styles and battery types.
Common airsoft batteries are normally in all three cell types.  Although please ask which types are best suited for your AEG
Stick
Sticks are normally great for certain types of airsoft guns which require a long type,  including AKs / MP5ks or even down the stock tube of your airsoft gun on some lipo sticks.
Block
Designed normally to fit into the front hand guard, or into a solid stock with limited joining cables which reduces risk of snagging and cable damage.
Crane stock/nunchuck
Normally split into two or three packs resembling a nunchuck, these are great for fitting into stocks which have tubes down the side. This enables quick and easy change and limited rattling.
