In medicine, there’s a diagnosis known as conversion disorder in which a psychological conflict manifests itself as a physical symptom. That, in a nutshell, is what afflicts the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), whose moral dysfunction is so deeply rooted that it now presents as bureaucratic incompetence.
IFMSA recently acknowledged that its suspension on Aug. 6, 2024, of the Federation of Israeli Medical Students (FIMS) was not grounded in legitimate rationale but in procedural irregularities. Translation: They botched the paperwork.
What they haven’t admitted and likely never will is that this so-called “suspension” was an attempted ideological amputation. And it wasn’t sterile.
Let’s not kid ourselves: FIMS was not excised from IFMSA over any clerical confusion. It was removed like a problematic organ because FIMS president Miri Shvimmer challenged the systemic anti-Israel infection festering within the global medical community.
Her sin? Reminding fellow future physicians that medical ethics should transcend politics. Shvimmer had the audacity to suggest that the Hamas-led terrorist attacks in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, might warrant a condemnation from those studying to enter the medical profession.
Instead of receiving empathy or even neutral collegiality, she and her organization were diagnosed as the problem. Accused of “genocide,” they were ignored and silenced. It was akin to a digital lobotomy, performed not with scalpels but Zoom mutes and procedural anesthesia. And after the World Medical Association applied pressure like a defibrillator to the heart of this scandal, IFMSA sheepishly reinstated FIMS—not out of repentance, not because the fever broke, but because it had violated its own code of conduct.
In medical terms, the disease was not treated; it merely retreated under duress. But here is what is most clinically disturbing: There was no apology. No retraction. No penance. No gracious walkback. Not even a placebo statement to soothe the reputational hemorrhage inflicted on Israeli medical students. Instead, IFMSA tried to suture the wound with silence, hoping the scar tissue of injustice would simply fade.
This isn’t just bad medicine; it’s malpractice. IFMSA took an oath, as all medical institutions implicitly do: to protect life, uphold human dignity and treat all patients (and peers) with impartial care.
What we saw instead was ideological triage—treat the causes they approve of and ignore the ones they don’t. This isn’t about “procedural missteps.” It’s about metastatic antisemitism hiding behind the white coat of international cooperation. It’s about a global organization failing to live up to the very ethics it pretends to teach. It is, in short, a chronic case of moral arrhythmia.
If the IFMSA wants to regain its ethical pulse, it must do more than quietly reinstate FIMS. It must issue a full, public apology. It must disinfect its own ranks of political bias. And it must remember that the Hippocratic Oath is not a fig leaf for cowardice but a binding moral code.
Because in the end, silence in the face of this discrimination is not just complicity, it’s criminal malpractice.

When available, I have tried to provide links for: a digital version of the zine, a page from which to purchase the zine, the author’s website or social media, an alternate version of the text online, or further information about the author/title. I’m not cluttering the list up with individual links for all of Billy’s zines; his stuff can be found at Behind the Zines Distro.

[Frequently Asked Questions]
May I draw whichever character I want? As the purpose of this zine is to include as many characters from the Saint Seiya universe as possible to bring variety into the final product, submission types have the following limitations:
Fanarts: 1 main character per submission (restricted ✪)
Fics: focus on 1-2 main characters per submission (not restricted)
Cosplays: 1 main character per submission (not restricted)
Merch Photographs: 1 main character per submission (not restricted)
Before filling out the sign-up form, check the Taken Character list. For fanarts, you'll input 5 different options, from your top choice to least. Your final selection will be made visible later that day. This is on a First Come, First Served basis.
✪ This means there will be only 1 fanart per character, no duplicates
May I include more than one character in my submission? Yes, as long as there is a clear hierarchy where your chosen character is the main focus. Original Characters (OCs) may also be included in the background as long as they follow this guideline. There is no problem if those secondary characters are already taken, or if the mix of characters would not make sense in the official material (for example, Sasha interacting with Hilda).
May I use spinoff characters? Sure! All characters officially included in the Saint Seiya universe are applicable (except those without an official visual design, like Chronos). Please note that even though there are characters with different versions across the franchise [ex: Aiolia], they are not counted as different options for the Zine, so if said character is already taken, no other version of them will be available. The only exceptions to this rule are Milo (Legend of Sanctuary) and Shaun (Knights of the Zodiac).
I changed my mind about the character I chose, and the new one is still available. Can I switch? To prevent confusion and misunderstandings, all character selections are final and cannot be changed/traded.
Can I switch from one contribution type to another (e.g., fanart to fic) after I signed up? To prevent confusion and misunderstandings, all contribution type selections are final.
Am I allowed to change certain aspects of a character’s official design? It depends on the aspect, and should be reviewed case-by-case.
Example 1: as a Latin American, Io could differ in skin tone to the one seen on the official materials. However, characters like Hagen and Aldebaran, who have darker skin tones, should not be given lighter tones.
Example 2: if due to a personal headcanon, you believe a character has a certain scar or marking that is not seen in official materials, it can be included, but once again, please reach out to Staff for a case-by-case review.
What qualifies as "autumn-themed"? This season is experienced differently all around the world, which is why the theme is broad on purpose. Any activity, scenery, meal, clothing, and celebration that is typical of this season is applicable. That includes (but is not limited to) All Hallow's Eve, Día de Muertos, Thanksgiving, Diwali, leaf color change viewing, and more.
What is the difference between an Alternate Universe [AU] and a Crossover? Some AU use popular tropes as a base, while a Crossover uses an already existing material as base.
Examples:
Popular tropes for an AU: magic school, space fantasy/sci-fi
Existing material: Twisted Wonderland, Mass Effect [games], Little Witch Academia, Star Trek [series], Heralds of Valdemar, Dune [books]
So making a fanwork of the general "Saint Seiya × Magic School" or “Saint Seiya x space fantasy/sci-fi” concepts is an AU, but "Saint Seiya × Twisted Wonderland" or “Saint Seiya x Star Trek” are considered a crossover. In essence, heavy references to other existing fandoms are not allowed. Could you please elaborate on what is/isn’t considered Not Safe For Work (NSFW)? If it is not appropriate for a general, non-specialized office work environment, then it is not accepted.
Examples: ✅ blood depictions/mentions of it ❌ graphic/detailed gore, mutilation, or body horror ✅ sensual themes (e.g., pin up) ❌ sexual themes (including, but not limited to: genitalia, specifically erotic gestures like blowjob, etc.)
May I submit more than one work? If, after the sign-up period is over, you would like to collaborate with a second submission, reach out to us. You may send different submission types if you want (e.g., 1 fanart and 1 fic). Please bear in mind the second character must still be available for you to take.
The sign-up timeframe already passed. Can I still join? The extraordinary period is 16-23/Aug. Please check the Taken Character List first to ensure the one you want is available, fill out the form, and contact staff (El Cadejos, Zeuse) so we can add you to the list. After this extraordinary period, sign-up will be officially closed.
May I include a watermark on my submission? Yes, we encourage you to submit already watermarked fanworks to the zine.
I’m a writer! What is an acceptable image for the credits page? You can send an official StS work, fanarts (as long as it is made by you, gifted to you, or commissioned by you), or a picrew-generated image (as long as the picrew allows that use)
What are check-ins? Do I need to send something? Nope. Our check-ins act as reminders only, so you know exactly how much time you have left to send your submission.
I’m unable to complete my submission and would like to withdraw. Is that okay? Yes, you can withdraw at any time, for any reason (you don’t need to explain). Please just let us know in advance.

The Biden administration on Friday rolled out new guidance to provide expanded access to voter registration during naturalization ceremonies of new U.S. citizens – part of a broader push by the federal government to increase voter registration that has raised concerns from Republicans.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it is updating its policy manual "to increase awareness and expand access to voter registration during naturalization ceremonies" at which eligible foreign nationals become U.S. citizens and are then able to vote in elections, including federal elections.
The new guidance "affirms that USCIS provides access to voter registration services at each administrative naturalization ceremony, including information regarding points-of-contact for voting and voter registration."
It also tells officials that offices should request state or local government election offices attend ceremonies to distribute and collect registration applications. It says offices will coordinate with "non-partisan, non-governmental organizations" for such services when state and local government officials are not available.

A video showing President Biden's welcome message to new immigrants is shown at a naturalization ceremony at Grand Teton National Park, Aug. 4, 2023, in Moose, Wyoming. (Natalie Behring/Getty Images)
"The ability to vote in federal elections is a fundamental right that comes with U.S. citizenship," the agency, which primarily deals with legal immigration, said in a policy alert. "All individuals naturalized at an administrative naturalization ceremony are immediately eligible to register to vote."
"In furtherance of its long-standing goal of encouraging newly naturalized U.S. citizens to exercise their right to vote, USCIS has historically provided access to voter registration services at the conclusion of administrative ceremonies."
The new guidance originates from President Biden’s March 2021 executive order on "promoting access to voting" and orders agency heads to "evaluate ways in which the agency can, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, promote voter registration and voter participation."
Earlier this year it announced that in line with that order, USCIS would issue guidance, "including providing a clear roadmap for how to successfully partner with state and local election administration officials and nonpartisan organizations to provide voter registration applications to all new Americans."
The broader multi-agency push launched by the executive order has caused controversy with some Republicans in Congress, who have expressed concern about federal overreach and have called for more information to be released by the administration. Republicans in the House had called for the strategic plan to be made public and argued that Biden "has no legal basis to order all federal agencies to engage in voter registration, nor does he have the authority to order any federal agency to engage in efforts to promote voter participation."
Former Deputy DHS Assistant Secretary Michael Bars, who served in the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital that conservative lawmakers in the House should deny funding for what he called an "unlawful executive order directing federal agencies to conduct registration drives for partisan voter turnout, whereby political appointees are ostensibly deputized to register and mobilize voters."
"This is a function of political parties and candidates – not state, local or federal government," said Bars, who now serves as executive director of the Election Transparency Initiative.
Election reform has previously been a flashpoint between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats in 2021 attempted to pass the For the People Act, which would have overhauled the voting process, including requiring states to automatically register voters, and restored voting right to felons.
Republicans rejected it as a "hostile takeover" by Democrats to federalize state and local elections. The bill passed the then-Democrat controlled House but failed to advance in the Senate.

Online Citizenship
An individual who acquires the competence to make responsible and efficient use of digital resources is known as a digital citizen (Future Learn 2021). Good digital citizenship entails being able to use technology responsibly and safely, as well as to participate in online communities in a positive and considerate manner.
The responsibility of the digital citizen in order to improve community health and welfare is based on four pillars(media smarts. 2022).
Empathy and Community: One of the primary aspects is to respect the emotions of others, build a caring online community, and understand and honour different points of view (Riccio 2022).
Positive Technology Use: An online citizen uses technology appropriately, not becoming overly absorbed or spending too much time in front of displays. This not only promotes overall health but also helps to combat issues such as internet addiction. Fostering a pleasant digital environment entails encouraging the use of technology for learning, creativity, and social connection, among other beneficial purposes (LinkedIn2023).
Sharing Information: Everyone who uses the internet should be cautious about what personal information they make public. This includes ensuring that information is accurate before sharing it, refraining from distributing misleading information and protecting people's privacy (Media Smarts. 2022).
Ethics and Privacy: Ethical decision-making in the digital domain necessitates familiarity and commitment to digital ethics. Digital ethics entails making ethical decisions in the online world. This includes respecting people, maintaining integrity, and contemplating the ethical consequences of online conduct (Oxley 2010).

A recent investigation by Forbes, in collaboration with Gray Wolf Analytics and Inca Digital, suggests that Binance’s initial coin offering (ICO) for BNB in 2017 “was a flop”. The report claims that Binance likely raised less than $5 million for BNB, its native token, through its ICO, significantly less than what the exchange announced on its website. An archived copy of Binance’s front page during its ICO | Source: Forbes The analysis also found that investors received only around 10.78 million BNB, while an additional 20 million BNB were transferred to angel investors. Forbes further suggests that Binance may have held the undistributed tokens. However, it is unlikely, given that investors would not want to keep them on an “unestablished” exchange. Binance initially advertised BNB as a way to receive a discount on the exchange, which may have incentivized some investors to keep the token in Binance’s wallets. The report claims that Binance controlled nearly 117 million tokens on Aug. 31, 2023– 76% of the total outstanding supply. While it is unclear how Forbes came to this conclusion, the report claims that the analysis combined disclosed tokens issued to the founding team with a proprietary probabilistic analysis. Inca Digital CEO Adam Zarazinski suggests that less than half of the 120 million tokens were distributed and that they were circulated between multiple, presumably Binance-controlled, wallets. Binance and its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, have not publicly commented on the matter.

Former XSET VALORANT pros file cases against org over owed Champions 2022 bundle revenue
In separate lawsuits filed in the state of California, four professional VALORANT players and their coach are requesting a court order compelling the XSET organization to arbitrate any claims for unpaid money from the Champions 2022 skin package. Zachary “zekken” Patrone, Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiba, Jordan “AYRIN” He, Rory “dephh” Jackson, and former coach Don “SyykoNT” Muir have all filed separate cases with the Los Angeles County Superior Court of California, alleging that XSET has gone back on its promise to pay the team members an agreed 50 percent of merchandising revenue, which includes XSET’s share of the Champions 2022 bundle revenue. Each case was filed on Aug. 16, 2023. According to the court documents, XSET has refused to pay any of the former team members their share of the digital items revenue. The documents also claim that XSET ignored “a letter requesting good faith negotiations” sent back in April of this year, leading to the arbitration process. The agreements between XSET and the team members explicitly detail the agreed-upon skin revenue split: “XSET will share in-game skin revenue with the team in a 50/50 rev share. Each Player/Coach will receive 8.33% of all skin revenue sales.” An addendum added in August 2022 also details XSET agreeing to pay 50 percent of proceeds from in-game digital item sales to the five players and coach of the VALORANT roster at the time, which includes all five plaintiffs and Brendan “BcJ” Jensen. The suits allege that XSET is refusing to honor the terms of its own arbitration agreement by rejecting an issue from Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS) to pay the $2,000 non-refundable filling fee, under the JAMS “Policy on Employment Arbitration Minimum Standards of Procedural Fairness.” The suits specifically cite this part of the arbitration section of the contracts, or “Gamer Agreements,” signed by XSET and the former VALORANT team members: “XSET shall be responsible for all fees associated with the arbitrator’s fee, including associated travel expenses of the arbitrator, the rental of a room to hold the arbitration hearing and similar costs.” A legal representative for XSET claims in the case documents that “this agreement covers the ‘arbitrator’s fee’, not the costs of the arbitration.” The plaintiffs are seeking a court order compelling XSET to arbitrate the dispute over the owed revenue shares and for XSET to pay all administrative fees and costs of the suits. CVSA focusing on brake linings, pads during Brake Safety Week
CVSA focusing on brake linings, pads during Brake Safety Week
Brake linings and pads will be the focus of Brake Safety Week, which is scheduled for Aug. 20-26, according to an announcement from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.Get more news about truck brake lings manufacturers, you can vist our website!
During Brake Safety Week, law enforcement officers will inspect brake systems and remove commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations from roadways until those violations are corrected. Throughout the week, CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct their usual inspections. However, they will be reporting brake-related inspection and violation data to the alliance. “The focus of this year’s Brake Safety Week is on the condition of the brake lining and pad,” said CVSA President Maj. Chris Nordloh with the Texas Department of Public Safety. “Brake lining and pad issues may result in vehicle violations and could affect a motor carrier’s safety rating.”
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents state that a fastener on the front spring bracket may have been installed with the head on the outside of the frame rail, which can chafe and damage the alternator positive cable, increasing the risk of fire.
Estes Express Lines, (CCJ Top 250, No. 11) announced it now offers a digital-first fitness, health and wellbeing platform, Burnalong, that provides employees and family members with access to live and on-demand health classes and information across 60 categories, ranging from exercise to mental health and chronic health conditions.
Burnalong’s online platform gives employees the opportunity to schedule group classes together and offers company-wide challenges that encourage tracking of wellness habits (drinking water, going outside, eating vegetables, etc.) and class participation.
“We want to be a leader in our industry when it comes to employee wellbeing, and this is another way for us to show that helping our employees thrive is a top priority for Estes,” said Sara Graf, Vice President, Sustainability, Culture, and Communications. “Burnalong is available to every full-time employee at Estes, and up to four family members, which ensures everyone can benefit from this wellbeing opportunity. We already offer a very robust wellness program through our HR benefits, and this new offering provides our employees with another way focus on taking care of themselves and their families.” In early May 2023, Burnalong was distributed to Estes employees in staggered phases. As of June 6, 935 employees have activated their free accounts, and by the end of 2023, Estes hopes to have more than 3,600 employees as active users.
“In addition to promoting a healthy workforce, there is a connection between safety and wellbeing. Data shows that accidents are less likely to occur when employees are physically healthy, well-rested and hydrated,” Graf said. “It's important for our employees who work non-traditional schedules to have options available to further their wellness journeys, and on-the-go programs like Burnalong allow them to take care of themselves on their schedule.”
Estes will continue promoting the program through its Estes4Me app and by incorporating reminders on digital displays in all terminals. In the coming months to boost adoption, the company will offer an individual challenge to track hydration and encourage employees to enroll in group courses as a team.
