You know, in movies where they get a character to essentially glow up to seduce someone, but then they're really, really bad at flirting? That's Charles, seemingly being assigned by the GPDA to swear, and him essentially becoming a wide-eyed country girl in the big city for the first time during this mission* lmao. He also immediately after corrected this to "He has been told to not put you under pressure" rather than not to overtake.

It's not like Charles got out of the pits well ahead and Carlos closed up to him and overtook. They were parallel and the car with the freshly warmed up tyres easily breezed past the car with cold hards, which Bozzi already admitted could happen.

I was looking the ratings of the other drivers in those media you posted and in Total Motosport they said this about carlos:

"Carlos Sainz: 6/10

Qualifying: 5th - Race: 4th

Sainz did his best to slow down the McLarens but didn't really have much effect, that was the story of the Spaniard's weekend really"

Ah, way to open a can of worms, Anon. It's been rough seeing some of the crazy stuff people have been saying on Twitter about Carlos helping Charles win in Monza. I don't want to comment too much on it, other than.. seriously???

I did just watch P1 with Matt and Tommy where Matt said, "A driver in literally the same team didn't make the one stop work, even though he pitted 4 laps later. So that was all down to Charles the way he drove those tyres."

Both gave Carlos an 8 and Charles a 10 (with Tommy saying he would give an 11 if he could.) and there was a comment about how both Carlos and Lance helped slow Piastri down - one of them intentional, but Tommy also remarked on Sainz how the gap to his teammate on the same (maybe even better) strategy was a bit disappointing.

Here is a lovely quote from one of the Ferrari drivers after Monza Quali on Saturday:

"I expect this to be a tyre management race, so whoever does the best job there, should come out on top."

your fandom list is actually so interesting to me, because F1 is my first proper rpf related interest!! I started watching for the actual racing— still do as well (I'm a stem student, if that explains anything)— but then I looked up the fanfiction and immediately got hooked on. But my other interests are alllll shows or books or anime or whatever!! My only other interest that could seem RPF is some youtubers creating a story but I ship the youtubers' characters more than the youtubers themselves. Fascinating!!

oh, sorry, to clarify, f1 is also MY only rpf interest!! and i'm also first and foremost in it for the racing. like i joke that rpf got me into f1 (and it did, i guess, semantically), but i am watching the races because i like the sport, not just bc i'm waiting to see the drivers interact in ways that i can gay-ify later. if rpf ceased to exist tomorrow i would still watch f1 bc i like it all on its own.

but yeah, i am wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too fucking close to the big american sports to even go down that road.... like in most leagues, everyone is literally ONE TO THREE degrees of separation from me. even if i tried to be careful, i'd for SURE be hit in the middle of a fic with a character i HAVE THE PHONE NUMBER OF and it would be all over for me, so. LOL. those disclaimers that rpf writers put at the start of fic like "if you know someone in this fic plz don't read it" are actual warnings to me when it comes to mlb/nba/nhl/nfl :,)

i just meant i'm "in the fandom" in the sense that i watch a lot of mlb and nba games and read news, like tweets, talk to other fans, etc. NOT in an rpf sense at all.

Ooh, but what kind of interactions do we want? Because just about every driver is in the dog house in the lover verse and Apples (reader) is fairly reserved/shy with people she doesn't know/hasn't been around too long.

Also with Lando I can see interactions going two different ways (okayish and not great at all) and I already know which one I'm leaning towards if you guys want to see that.

nope, i tried watching and it doesn't hit the same.

in terms of similar level of performance between drivers and number of cars i prefer f3, in terms of like-ability of drivers and less cars with fire liveries but where you can actually see the drivers i prefer f1 academy, and in terms of links to f1 (although differently than indycar) and personalities of drivers with their own (much better) version of dts, i prefer f2
