Okay, I’m very much obsessed with the web comic ā€œBatman: Wayne Family Adventures,ā€ and I want to write little one-shots for it.Ā
If you’d like to see something written, drop a prompt in my inbox!Ā
Also found on AO3!
1: Better Than Dick Grayson
Jason’s beat by the time he guides his bike through an underground entrance to the Bat Cave. Patrol wasn’t hard – more annoying than anything else. There’s been an increase in copy-cat villains lurking the shadows of Crime Alley, all who can’t even follow through with a napkin-scribbled plan properly.
ā€œNice work tonight, Hood.ā€
Jason slips off his bike, boots heavy against the steel floor below him. He taps the comm nestled in his ear. ā€œThanks, O. Time to sign off? I’m sure you have an absolutely riveting day at the library tomorrow.ā€ A cheeky smile plays at his lips as he slips his helmet off, huffing around a laugh at Barbara’s drawn-out sigh in his ear.
ā€œI honestly don’t know why I help you every night.ā€
ā€œCome on, O. You know you look forward to our quick-witted banter every day. That’s our thing – our trademark, if you will.ā€ His smile widens when Barbara chuckles in his ear.
ā€œYou’re ridiculous, Hood.ā€
Jason slips into a changing room, grimacing as he cards his fingers through his sweat-soaked hair. ā€œPlease, O. You know you love me.ā€ His suit is damp against him, an uncomfortable testament to just how much he’s done on patrol in the few hours he was out.
ā€œMaybe a little.ā€Ā Ā
Smirking, he shrugs his jacket off and reaches to the back of his neck, working his damp suit off until it’s hanging low at his waist. ā€œYou flirting with me, Babs? I’ll tattle to Dick.ā€ He barks out a laugh at the low, impressive string of curse words that echo from his comm.
ā€œI retract my previous statement. My tolerable feelings toward you stem from obligation alone.ā€
ā€œBabs,ā€ Jason whines, slamming a hand to his chest, ā€œyou wound me! Now I’m really going to tell Dick!ā€
ā€œWell, you’re out of luck. He left for Bludhaven an hour ago.ā€
Jason pushes down on his suit until he’s stepping out of it, kicking it to the corner of the changing room with the notion that he’ll deal with it later. Tomorrow. He sighs – eventually.
ā€œDetective Grayson summoned for an assignment?ā€ He turns on his heel, snagging a towel that he drapes over his shoulders, using one corner to mop the sweat dripping from his hair.
ā€œSomething like that.ā€
Barbara’s voice goes soft on the other line, and Jason stops, frowning smally. ā€œWhat’s up, Babs?ā€
ā€œDamian and Bruce are still out, so I need to get back to them. Can you check in on Tim for me? Steph said he’s been quieter than usual all day.ā€
ā€œPump the kid up with coffee, then? I can do that.ā€
ā€œJason.ā€
Jason holds his hand’s up in mock defense out of habit, sighing between his teeth. ā€œFine, yes. I’ll follow in golden child Dick’s footsteps and take my role as the dutiful big brother.ā€
ā€œGood. Also, I have that on recording now for the next time you try to sarcastically remove yourself from a family affair.ā€
ā€œBarbara!ā€
ā€œLater, Jason!ā€
There’s a crackle in Jason’s ear, and then the line goes dead. Rolling his eyes, he pulls the comm free, dropping it beside a large monitor in the cave before padding upstairs, eager to shower Crime Alley’s discount villains away.
He swings by Tim’s room first, finding him at his desk, eyes soft and cast toward the window. His expression is somber albeit a tad thoughtful, and Jason promptly pulls him out of whatever muted stupor he’s currently lost in.
ā€œWell,ā€ he starts, nudging the door open wider, eyes flicking to the textbook open at the desk. ā€œYou’re doing better than I did. Studying wasn’t really my forte.ā€
Tim twists around and cocks his head to the side. ā€œYou were a straight-A student.ā€
Scoffing, Jason drops against the doorframe, arms crossed. ā€œHey. I didn’t say I wasn’t smart.ā€ He nods to the book. ā€œAnd you’re essentially a boy genius, so do you really need to do that?ā€
ā€œIt’s a good distraction,ā€ Tim sighs, turning back to the window and dropping his cheek against his fist.
ā€œA distraction from what?ā€ Jason’s eyes narrow into sharp slits, watching a small line of tension take to Tim’s shoulders.
ā€œDick left.ā€
Jason’s taken aback. Dick comes and goes all the time – they all do. He can’t imagine Tim will be here long, and he, himself, is only staying the night before he heads back to the safe house he’s been frequenting by himself in the morning. Now that he thinks of it, he’s sure he overheard Steph mentioning packing for a trip with Barbara in a few days.
ā€œHe’ll come back,ā€ Jason responds, and Tim spins around in his desk chair with a sigh that’s far too long and heavy for a kid his age.
ā€œI know that. It’s just,ā€ Tim pauses, waving one hand around, ā€œtoo quiet without him here.ā€
ā€œThat’s a bad thing?ā€ Jason cocks a brow, and Tim huffs.
ā€œYou know what I mean – Dick’s all energy and smiles, and everything just feels better when he’s here. When we’re all here together.ā€
This, Jason thinks, is edging a delicate territory he’s not adept to handle. His vocabulary rivals Alfred’s, and yet, piecing together words into a sentence that’s both optimistic and comforting is not something he feels he’s capable of. Instead, he steps into the room, dropping his palm to Tim’s head, and the silence that follows is sharper than Bruce’s best batarang.
ā€œJason,ā€ Tim finally mutters, voice flat.
ā€œIs this comforting?ā€
ā€œNo, it’s weird.ā€
Jason rips his hand away, a sigh of relief slipping past his lips. ā€œWell, that’s one thing we can agree on.ā€ He turns toward the door, muscles faintly aching, his reminder that he really wants to shower and sleep. ā€œNight, Timmy. Dick will come back soon.ā€
He opts not to look behind him lest he wants to feel a big-brother spark of guilt he’s just too exhausted to handle. Instead, he slips out of the room without so much of an over-the-shoulder glance.
---
Jason’s alarm starts softly from his phone, and he slams his hand against it with a low groan, trained to wake at the quietest of sounds. Outside, the sun’s not quite made it up and over the horizon, still casting the manor in a soft glow – a view that Dick swears by. Jason shuffles over to his window and takes in the view for roughly four seconds before he decides he’d rather see it through the visor of his bike’s helmet.
Still, before he can leave, he’s got one more thing he needs to do at the manor – a rather brilliant idea, if you ask him, he came up with in a sleep-ridden mind right before he conked out for the night.
He’s not Dick. He’s better than Dick.
He changes and perks an ear to the sounds down the hall, hearing the others waking. Once he hears Tim’s bedroom Keurig stop running, he acts, plastering a triple-watt smile to his face and storming out of his room.
ā€œUgh, Jason,ā€ Cass mutters, rubbing her eyes. ā€œWhat are you doing?ā€
Jason doesn’t respond, waiting, instead, for Tim to open his bedroom door, and the moment he does, Jason sucks in a long, swelling breath.
ā€œGood morning!ā€ He shouts, dragging out each word, making his voice as loud as possible, a bright bellow that sinks into every crevice of the manor.
Beside him, Cass cups both hands over her ears, and Damian merely turns back into his room, slamming the door behind him. Duke can’t get to his phone fast enough, and Tim promptly jumps out of his skin, his coffee splashing from his mug to burn against his hand and stain the floor. There are footsteps pounding up the stairs, and Jason smiles even wider, his cheeks stretched and tight, and he sucks in another large breath.
ā€œJason, what the hellā€”ā€
Jason cartwheels down the hall, narrowly avoiding a puddle of coffee to stop upright before Tim. He ruffles Tim’s hair, his forced smile fading to something softer, more genuine. ā€œMorning, Timmers!ā€
ā€œWhat in the world is going on?ā€
Bruce is breathless at the end of the hall, and Alfred’s trying, and horribly failing, to hide a laugh behind a cough.
ā€œI’m telling my family good morning,ā€ Jason shouts, arms outstretched. He offers Tim a wink and leans in close. ā€œGrayson’s got nothing on me,ā€ he whispers, tone devious, before he presses a kiss to Tim’s cheek and claps a hand to Tim’s shoulder.
When he pulls away, he slips past Bruce and Alfred, maneuvering around them with a practiced grace that could rival Dick Grayson. ā€œSomething smells incredible down here!ā€ He adds from the stairs.
ā€œOh, Dick’s going to love this,ā€ Duke mutters, ending the video recording on his phone.
ā€œShould I call Leslie?ā€ Bruce asks, worried, his attention torn between the startled and amused faces before him, and the echoing sound of Jason singing Broadway showtunes from the kitchen downstairs.
Tim looks down to his coffee mug, his hand faintly burning and sticky, and he smiles warmly. ā€œNah, Jason’s fine.ā€

Hiii!! I really love your tumblr posts and I'm pretty new to the Batfam (meaning I have only read fics and textposts about them, no comics) and I wanted to ask about the year Bruce/Batman gets "lost in time". I know general things of what the kids have been doing–Dick became batman and fired Tim from robin, giving it to Damian, everyone thinking Tim was crazy for believing Bruce was alive, (don't really know what Jason was up to though, was he still murderous towards Tim? Does the pit still affect him? Also I have no idea about Cass and Duke, were they introduced at this point??) Anyways, my real question was why was Bruce lost in time, what villain put him there? And how did he get out? And how long was he "dead"? Was Bruce in another reality or like just asleep the whole time? Oh! And how soon did this happen after Damian got introduced to the family–a couple months?
I'm so sorry this is so long, but I hope you answer and thank you!!
(I’m going to try and cover all my bases here by going into how exactly Bruce ā€œdied,ā€ what went down during the Battle For the Cowl, what the Batkids did while Bruce was gone, and how Bruce came back. Hopefully it all makes sense?? We’ll see how it goes lmao.)
Part 1 - What Happened to Bruce:
So there was this event called Final Crisis (which I won’t go completely into since it would make this post a million times longer than it already is), but the bottom line is that Darkseid wants to overthrow reality and release his Anti-Life Equation, which would overthrow the whole planet and turn everyone into slaves. (If you’re interested in knowing more about the storyline, here’s a Reddit thread that explains it WAY better than I could.)Ā
What I CAN tell you is that during his final confrontation with Darkseid, Bruce is hit by an Omega Beam and turned into a burnt chicken nugget killed. Poor guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final Crisis #6
Clark and Diana bring the body back to the Batcave and break the news to the Batfamily. Batman #687 covers a good portion of the aftermath such as Bruce’s funeral, the Batfamily grieving, and Dick coming to terms with his new responsibility of becoming Batman.
Tumblr media
Batman #687
Part 2 - Battle For the Cowl:Ā
Musical chairs time, fellas! After word gets out that Batman is gone, Gotham erupts into chaos. Dick doesn’t want to take over the mantle, Tim needs Dick to take over the mantle, and Jason says ā€œfuck itā€ and takes over the mantle himself because somebody around here has to. He becomes this murderous psychopathic Batman and starts taking out criminals with deadly force because someone’s gotta do the job, so it might as well be him.
Tumblr media
Batman: Battle For the Cowl #1
(Okay honestly, this series had some pretty bad characterization overall, which sucks since it’s such an important storyline. Jason is portrayed as this violent psychopath, which...okay, he was kind of insane after the Pit and all, but not to this degree. Personally, I choose to owe the bad characterization to Bruce’s death because as much as Jason resents Bruce for all he’s done, he does still love him and losing him would be devastating, which would exacerbate his already fragile mental health. As for Damian, this happens roughly three years after his first appearance, so we can assume it’s been a few months since he first joined the family. He’s still relatively new at this point, so nobody knows how to write him yet. He ends up being depicted as if his main two personality traits are Bratty and Assassin-Child and that’s it. It’s all just a mess.)
Anyway, Tim tells Dick to become Batman and stop Jason’s reign of terror. Dick says no, so Tim follows Jason’s lead by saying ā€œfuck itā€ and putting on the cowl himself. He goes to confront Jason, which ends in Jason beating the crap out of him (again) and leaving him for dead after Tim declines his offer to become Jason’s Robin. Dick goes to save Tim and ends up fighting Jason.Ā
Tumblr media
Battle For the Cowl #3
Dick wins, Jason disappears, Tim is fine, and Dick finally gets his head out of his ass and becomes Batman.Ā
Part 3 - What Happens to Each Batkid While Bruce is ā€œDeadā€?:
Dick:Ā
As I said, Dick becomes the new Batman a month after Bruce’s death. He’s got big shoes to fill, and it takes some time for him to get used to his new role. He and Damian end up flipping around the classic Batman and Robin dynamic, with Batman now as the fun counterpart to Robin’s edginess. Dick, Damian, and Alfred relocate to the penthouse above the Wayne Foundation building, operating out of a secret Bat-Bunker in the basement.
Tumblr media
Batman #688
Jason:Ā
After Battle For the Cowl, Jason is still batshit insane and determined to make Dick’s already stressful life even harder by becoming a supervillain with an ugly costume and an even uglier hairstyle. (I know it’s just because the artist sucked, but still. Jason is horrifying to look at during this time.) He mostly just gets on Dick’s nerves by running around Gotham with his new sidekick Scarlet and killing criminals as Batman and Robin wannabes. Eventually, Dick has Jason committed to Arkham Asylum and he hangs out there until Bruce returns.
Tumblr media
Batman and Robin (2009) #5
Tim:Ā
Tim...doesn’t do great after Bruce’s death, mentally. Dick makes Damian Robin, his reasoning being that Robin is more of a sidekick and he sees Tim as his equal. By making Damian Robin, Dick hopes that it will give him the stability he needs to keep him from straying back toward the ā€œbadā€ side. (It’s the right move ultimately, although his execution was pretty messed up since he didn’t discuss it with Tim beforehand, but he’s allowed to make mistakes. Dick’s father just died and now he’s in charge of picking up the pieces of their broken family. It’s a lot to handle.)Ā
Long story short, Tim has a breakdown, realizes that Bruce is alive, dons the Red Robin identity, and cuts ties with his family to travel the world in search of proof. It’s a rough time.Ā
Tumblr media
Red Robin #1
Damian:Ā
Our little guy becomes Robin! So proud of him! As I explained earlier, Dick makes Damian his Robin with the assumption that it will keep him out of trouble, and he’s right on that account. He mentors Damian, teaching him how to channel his violent instincts into something productive, and it works! Slowly but surely, Damian makes the transition from bratty assassin to actual hero!
Tumblr media
Batman and Robin (2009) #22
Cass:
Duke sadly was not introduced at this point in time, so he missed out on all the pandemonium. Cass, however, has been Batgirl for years by now, but she got kind of pushed aside by the writers after Bruce’s death. Bruce disappears shortly after adopting Cass, but once he wasĀ ā€œdead,ā€ the writers sort of moved Cass around for a while, not quite knowing what to do with her. First she was with the Outsiders. Then they got disbanded and Cass tried forming a new network of heroes to take over for Batman if needed. Then she helped out in said network during Battle for the Cowl, taking care of a newly ravaged Gotham. Then Cass gave the Batgirl mantle to Stephanie Brown after she became disillusioned with the role, thanks to the loss of her father and mentor. ThenĀ Cass picked up and moved to Hong Kong to ā€œfollow Bruce’s plansā€ by continuing whatever work he had set up for her there. It was all very vague and confusing, and Cass more or less got swept under the rug during this time. Thanks, writers.
Tumblr media
Batgirl (2009) #1
Part 4 - How Bruce Came Back:Ā
When the Blackest Night storyline happens, the Justice League realizes that the corpse buried under Bruce’s grave is apparently not the real one and that he’s actually alive out there somewhere! How wild is that! This is further proven by Dick after he places Bruce’s body in a Lazarus Pit to revive, which has the same result because it’s very clearly Not Bruce and they should have listened to Tim from the start.
Tumblr media
Batman and Robin (2009) #9
Anyway, what actually happened is that the Omega Beams that Darkseid shot at Bruce didn’t kill him, but rather blasted him back through time to the prehistoric era with his memories wiped. The Omega Energy inside of Bruce ends up catapulting him through various time periods, which is all part of Darkseid’s plan. With each time-hop, Bruce builds up more Omega Energy in his body which, when he gets back to his original time period, will be unleashed and destroy everything.
Tumblr media
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #5
It’s been a little under two years since Final Crisis, though in-universe it’s uncertain exactly how long Bruce has been ā€œdead.ā€ We can assume it’s been a year, give or take. The way he comes back is too scientific and complicated for me to understand, so uhhhh the bottom line is that Tim and a few Leaguers save Bruce at the Vanishing Point and the day is saved! Hooray!Ā
Tumblr media
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #6
(If you want to read about how it actually goes down, then I seriously recommend reading Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne. It’s only six issues, so it’s a quick read and it explains the situation far better than I ever could.)
Bruce eventually reunites with his family after spying on them for a period of time as Insider to see what has changed in his absence:
Tumblr media
Bruce Wayne: The Road Home
After that, things quickly settle back into their new normal. Dick and Damian stay on as Batman and Robin. Bruce goes back to being Batman as well, with him handling Batman Incorporated business and Dick continuing as Gotham’s defender. Tim keeps the Red Robin outfit, Steph stays on as Batgirl, and Cass becomes Black Bat. Jason stays in Arkham for a while before filing an appeal to be moved to a regular prison. He kills 82 inmates in less than a week and gets transferred back to Arkham, which he promptly escapes from. It’s a ride, I tell ya.
Aaaaand that’s about it! I hope this answered all of your questions!

How did this man not know the Avengers? They were the Avengers? Who was the Justice League? Where was Gotham? Where was he in Gotham? Why did nothing make sense? He pulled his knees up and hugged them as he felt his breath speed up and his heart started pounding in his chest. He knew he was having a panic attack; he just couldn’t find it in himself to care. There were four options of what happened, he was in the past meaning the Avengers were not formed yet, he was in the future so everyone was dead and the Avengers got a new name for some reason, he was in some alternate world somehow, or he was just dead and this was just some kind of twisted afterlife.

characterization cheat sheet: the batfamily boys
Hey everyone! I had the idea to compile a comprehensive list of different traits and attributes for each member of the batfamily based off of both canon and fanon interpretations. I think this could be useful for new members to the fandom, or those looking to write and/or draw for these characters. Remember that these will have a slight bias considering I, a fanon creator, am creating the lists. But I’ll try to make them as accurate as possible.
Appearances vary from artist to artist, so I’ll try to stray away from general details and add more little things you can consider in your art.
Bruce Wayne:
Age: 35-45
Appearance: Extremely physically fit, but signs of aging and prolonged exertion can slip through. Has a collection of scattered scars varying from fresh to fully healed. Strong, dark features. Conventionally attractive, but can easily switch to be foreboding/intimidating. Well kept in public appearances, but can look like death incarnate when in private.
Personality:Ā Dual personas:Ā ā€œBruceā€ (at home, but not as batman) andĀ ā€œBrucieā€ (public appearances like galas, news interviews). Bruce is stoic, well-read and educated, well-mannered, and occasionally can be witty and laid-back. Smirks rather than smiles. Brucie is loud, spontaneous, charming, and sometimes oblivious. He is the womanizer and scandal-maker. Often the actions of Brucie are motivated by Batman’s interests.
Speech: Bruce was mainly raised by as English butler, so his speech patterns are proper and smooth. Rarely uses speech fillers such asĀ ā€œuhā€ andĀ ā€œum,ā€ except when interrupted while concentrating. Despite living in Gotham his entire life, he has not picked up the accent. His voice is newscaster American, almost impossible to pinpoint to a certain region. His speech as Brucie changes to relate more to the audience he is addressing. Speeches to Gotham high society will sound different than those aimed to the general public.
Additional Attributes: Bruce Wayne in all of his personalities is fiercely protective, and can easily slip into a deeper voice to intimidate. Bruce can be extremely empathetic and slightly impulsive when it comes to children who have lost their parents. As learned through his training to become Batman, Bruce is disciplined and can work for hours straight.
Dick Grayson:
Age: 23-29
Appearance: Dick Grayson mirrors a young Bruce Wayne despite their not being blood related. This could be a subconscious action by Dick to absorb traits of his father figure. His lean acrobatic body starts to set him apart from Bruce’s image. Dick manages to be well-built but still limber and flexible. His feet and hands are rough and calloused. His hair can get long but usually stays at a length in between Bruce’s and Tim’s. His eyes are bright blue without even a hint of green or brown.Ā
Personality: In one comic I believe it was Superman who said that Dick Grayson is a universal constant, meaning that on every alternate earth or timeline, you can always rely on him to be good and pure. I think this really sums up who Dick should be. He is kind to a fault, and can sometimes be naive and not think things through. He loves to love, be that in his family, in his romantic relationships, in his friendships, and even in strangers. He is a chronic hero who only wants to see the world as a better place. But it’s important to note that Dick can get angry when pushed, and holds grudges.
Speech:Ā Dick is an extremely interesting study in speech patterns. As a child he traveled with the circus, until he lived with clear-spoken Bruce Wayne and a proper English butler. So influences to his speech and accent come both internationally and locally to Gotham and Bludhaven. As a child living at Wayne Manor, Dick picks up a slight Gotham tinge to his accent with some British flourish in his vowel sounds. He regularly speaks in slang. As Nightwing he is able to suppress his unique speech to sound more evenly American.
Additional Attributes: Dick acts differently around each of his family members as to be what they need in a big brother. For example, he is more fatherly to Damian while to Tim he is more an equal. Dick can fidget and has less of an attention span than Bruce. He can use jokes as a coping mechanism.
Jason Todd:Ā
Age: 22-26
Appearance: Hair is often long on top and shorter on the sides, sometimes with a white streak as a side effect from the Lazarus Pit. Tallest and heaviest of all the kids, very physically intimidating. Has a lot of scars and burns, and in some fan works he has aĀ ā€œYā€ shaped scar the length of his chest from his autopsy. Never skips leg day. Green/blue eyes.
Personality: Jason goes through a lot of character development, but for this list I’m going off a timeline of post-Under the Red Hood, where Jason is on okay, yet still a little shaky, terms with the rest of the family. Jason has a hard time separating vigilante life and civilian life; his death as Robin ended his life as Jason Todd, blurring the lines between the two. Jason is legally dead, so he is basically building an identity back up. He holds some attributes from childhood: brave, impulsive, loud-mouthed, and street-smart. But his experiences post-Robin have made him a hardened loner. He lives modestly and with some semblance of order. He’s hard to foster a relationship with, but can be a passionate friend/family member when he opens up.
Speech: Jason probably has the least influence from Bruce and Alfred’s speech patterns, seeing as though he spent a lot more time with his biological family/on the streets than he did as a preteen in the manor. He is the definition of Gotham vernacular, with a rough edge. So much so that as a child, the high society gala attenders sometimes had a hard time understanding him. Often talks in curt, short sentences.
Additional Attributes: He has trouble expressing his emotions, more specifically anger and/or grief. Can both love or hate furiously. Inherently good, but sometimes doesĀ ā€œbadā€ things. Protective over children, especially those living on the street. Very much a believer inĀ ā€œthe ends justify the means.ā€
Tim Drake:
Age: 17-20
Appearance: Pale skin, dark hair. Sharp cheek bones and jawline, mostly from how skinny he is. His body isn’t technicallyĀ ā€œbuiltā€ to be extremely athletic, but he’s forced a nice lean build from stringently working out. Easily loses and gains weight as a direct result of his work, causing fluctuations in his build. Five foot something, will eventually be out-grown by Damian. Long hair that can still be styled to look professional.
Personality: Tim Drake is very passionate in pretty much everything he sets his mind to. He feels as though he imposed himself onto Batman to become Robin, so he works twice as hard to prove his worth. He can be self conscious and deprecating. Tim as Robin or Red Robin is very different than civilian Tim; his hero personas can be bolder and more confident. Despite dropping out of high school, he values education.
Speech: Tim grew up rich, and his speech reflects an intelligence gained from private tutors. Despite this, he knows how to interact with those his age in using less formal language and slang. Often quotes books and movies. Can be awkward and stumble over his words when teased by his friends/family. He can manipulate people easily in business settings by talking fast and confidently while explaining complex topics.
Additional Attributes: Tim’s demeanor is directly tied to his varying levels of confidence and anxiety. Tim is has above-average intelligence and is diligent in detective work, but can still act like a teenager. He can be stubborn to extremes and will patiently play the long con. He does not cope well with loss.
Duke Thomas:
Age: 17-19
Appearance: Short dark hair, shaved on the sides and/or the back. Often wears the colors yellow and black. Around the same height as Tim, but a little taller. Stronger and heavier build more alike to Jason than Dick, but he’s still light on his feet. Expressive face that can give away his feelings easily. Still a bit of a baby face, but he’s still well-proportioned and conventionally handsome.
Personality: In my works, I’ve often described Duke as having aĀ ā€œsun-shinyā€ personality. He is one to not even think twice about putting others before himself. Duke uses his own personal experiences to guide him as a hero rather than suppress his emotions. Duke went from being an only child to having a large family, so he can sometimes feel overwhelmed. He is on friendly terms with every member of the batfamily, as well as many other heroes. Duke is self-sacrificial and is still learning how to effectively work as a detective.
Speech: Duke grew up in a middle class Gotham family, so his speech is influenced by his parents as well as his city environment. Duke has a mild Gotham accent and speaks a lot in modern slang. He hasn’t had much influence from Bruce and Alfred, considering he hasn’t lived with them for long. It’s possible that as he grows he will pick up some influences from Bruce and Tim’s way of speaking, but will most likely hold onto the accent of his childhood.
Additional Attributes: Duke is a metahuman vigilante in a city where Batman typically bans them, which causes a bit of an insecurity and a perfectionist drive. These are exasperated by the long line of history preceding him, as well as the fact that he involved himself in the Robin movement rather than being handpicked by Batman. He and Tim can relate in that way. Duke is an ardent student of Batman and is dedicated to the cause.
Damian Wayne:
Age: 10-14
Appearance: Looks similar to Bruce when he was the same age, yet stronger and with tanner skin. His hair is expertly cut and styled, but still age-appropriate. He is the shortest of the batkids, but still has a lot of time and potential to grow. He pretty much won the genetics lottery with Bruce and Talia as his biological parents, and is made for athletics. He has some scars that stand out with their pale coloring against his tan skin.Ā
Personality: Damian is slowly becoming less of a brat, to put it bluntly. He admires his family and tries to mimic them, but will never confess it. Damian is quick to judge and will voice his opinion no matter how scathing it may be, both as civilian and hero. Damian is slowly realizing he may not want the Batman mantle as quickly as he planned. Jon is a perfect foil to Damian, and often makes him a better person when they’re together.Ā
Speech: His speech isĀ proper and formal. Prefers formal titles: ex.Ā ā€œfatherā€ overĀ ā€œdadā€ and last names over first. Damian is at least bilingual (Arabic and English), and can switch between languages easily. Most of his speech patterns developed from his tutors in the League, and more recently, Alfred. Influences like Jon and Dick have introduced him to a more modern, laid-back way of speaking, which he sometimes utilizes when relaxed.
Additional Attributes: Damian has problems with authority, especially those that he doesn’t respect like his teachers at school. He can be arrogant and childish ever though he often acts like he knows everything. Damian is still a child and has much to learn from batman and family as well as unlearn from his time at the League. Dami was forged to be a ruthless warrior, but now has to find a balance between the hero Robin and the child Damian Wayne.
Hope this helps someone! Feel free to add on if you think I missed anything. Just please remember to be civil and respect different interpretations of these characters. Let me know if you want another one of these posts outlining the girls or other characters.

Dear Jin, you've cursed me. I told myself superhero comics were dumb and conveluted but I honestly love your work and I've fallen in love with the characters you've written even though I barely know who they are??? The only DC exposure I've had is Teen Titans and the Nolan movies but I desperately need more content,, great Jin If it's not too much trouble would you recommend some good batfam comics to get started?? -a humble emotional wreck _(:,3ć€āˆ )_
OH MAN. OKAY.
So I'm still trying to get all caught up on comics, so I don't exactly have a whole lot to recommend, but I'll try! I'm just gonna recommend pretty much everything that I've liked, so this will be a long list cuz I like a lot. You'll notice a lot of these have to do with Dick...
A common misconception with comics is thinking you need to start from the beginning! Hate to break it to you, but Batman has been around since before the second world war so good luck with catching up with comics lol, the best way to get caught up is to pretty much look for the classic comics that the fandom has embraced. Wiki the character you want to know and read the comics recommend to you! There's a lot of stuff to know about these guys!
New 52! I'm not sure how accepted the New 52 reboot comics are in the fandom, but I love these comics! Granted, Dick's costume is weird, but it has some amazing stories and one of my favorite arcs ever "The Death of the Family". Joker manipulates and mind tortures all the Batfam and captures them to get to Bruce and it's amazing. The family dynamic of the Batfam in these comics is what I most closely base my fics off. I have mostly just read the Nightwing comics in this one tho, but I plan on getting to the rest of the Batfam in these comics eventually! (If the comics have 2011 after them, they're New 52. 2016 is the current Rebirth comics)
Nightwing (1996): SOME GOOD CLASSIC DICK GRAYSON COMICS. Dick moves to Blüdhaven, the only place in the world worse than Gotham, and makes his debut as Nightwing! Some very good classic stories in this one. Be careful with issue 93 though! There's a lot of controversy with it.
Robin Year One: a simple modern retelling of Dick Grayson becoming Robin! It's super cute and it shows how Bruce turns from a unfeeling vigilante into a hen mom. Super freaking good. Dick gets beat up by Two-Face and it's great.
Forever Evil: an evil version of the Justice League attacks earth and aims to destroy the world! Doesn't focus on Batfam, but does have a lot of Batman and Nightwing! Nightwing gets captured and his identity is revealed to the world and it's great. Leads into Grayson where Dick pretends to be dead so Bruce can send him on a dangerous, undercover mission.
Red Hood and the Outlaws: I'm only a few issues into this one and I'm loving it! Jason Todd (Red Hood) reluctantly joins a Amazonian named Artemis and I believe a reject Superman clone named Berserk I think, sorry I'm not too far in yet (-_-;), but he pretty much goes on whacky slightly illegal adventures and cause Batman more headaches than normal.
Batman and Robin (2009): Bruce is dead! Assassin Damian Wayne is Robin and Gotham needs a new Batman! Dick Grayson steps up and basically raises Damian and slowly gets Damian to warm up to being a normal kid until Bruce returns. It's been awhile since I read these, but I remember really liking almost everything about this one! The only thing I didn't like about this one is how Red Hood is portrayed as a super evil bad guy. Otherwise, I loved a lot of the stories in this one.
Robin 1993: TIM DRAKE Y'ALL. About Tim and his adventures as a recently made protector of Gotham! I haven't read all of this because it's so long and I have a short attention span, but what I've read is super good!! It's older, and older comics are usually VERY GOOD.
Red Robin: TIM DRAKE BUT ANGSTIER. Pretty much, because Bruce dies and Damian takes Robin, Tim is forced out to take his own superhero persona, again I haven't read much, but so far I love it!
We are Robin: DUKE THOMAS Y'ALL. Bruh, I just started reading his comics and I love this idiot. After Joker infected the entire city to become basically mindless Zombies and also attempted to recreate the death of Batman's parents with Duke and his mom and dad, Duke runs from the foster care he's placed it to try to find his parents who were infected and went missing. He runs into a group of teens calling themselves Robin's and he sort of reluctantly joins them!
Batgirl (2000): Cassandra Cain and her backstory! Taken under the wing of Barbara Gordon, the former Batgirl now Oracle.
You can always go back to the classics as well! Experiment with the ones you want to read! All I recommend is not reading DC Rebirth for a little while, they kind of all suck, except Young Justice, I actually enjoyed reading that so far!

Your drawing of Tim in the Voltron AU is so lovely! I love you added freckles in his face, he's such a cutie šŸ’š I would love to hear your ideas for this AU! More about Tim's role and the other batfam members as well, it sounds like a really interesting AU :D
HE IS SUCH A CUTIE DANG IT I LOVE HIM???? Timmy needs more love. I can’t help the freckles, I’m glad you like them >v<Ā
Oh! Thanks for asking! I can try and give a synopsis…of sorts…I haven’t hashed this out very well yet but!! Musings and extra doodles under the cut!!
Timmy is Pidge’s role! I think he was enrolled in the Galaxy Garrison by his parents; they paid alot, they’re super rich. Now he’s in a very high standing education, and they don’t have to care for him anymore…it stings a lil for Tim, but he’s used to it. What he’s not prepared for…is Bruce. (Bruce is Shiro’s role) He takes Tim under his wing; he tends to do that for students he sees something really special in. He saw it in Richard (Lance’s role), in Jason (Keith’s role) but he dropped out. I wish i knew more about how the garrison worked, I’d be able to flesh this out more. But yeah, Bruce looks out for Tim, and it’s very clear to him Tim is extraordinary. He gets absolutely bored in classes; he’s so ahead already. Bruce teaches him all he knows, and prepares ways for Tim to flourish without the system getting in his way. Bruce becomes the father figure Tim never really had.
Bruce is pronounced dead on the Kerberos mission.
Kinda like in the comics, where Bruce disappears and no one believes he’s alive except for Tim, he draws into himself, doing everything he can to search for Bruce. He knows he’s not dead. He can’t be…
I’m thinking…around here, Tim’s unnamed roomie drops out; he doesn’t care. Except he gets put with a very LOUD and irritatingly friendly roomie. Richard Grayson. Even more irritating is that the notorious Damian Wayne (Hunk’s role…it’s not perfect, but it works) is put in with them as well, since Dick is literally the only person that can deal with the brat. (Damian is also a prodigy, but instead of drawing into himself like Tim, he lashes out and belittles others for not keeping up. He gets bullied alot, which only feeds the flames. Dick watched a bullying episode and immediately adopted the kid in his mind lol)
Tumblr media
(some sketches of their Garrison days lol, and some Galra Jays)Ā
Anyway, Tim’s main focus is finding Bruce, and Dick is pretty annoying at first, but quickly worms his way into his heart as almost like a brother. As he does to many, he’s a sunshiney guy ^^ Damian appreciates him too, he’ll never admit it. Tim never tells them of his search, but they unintentionally help from time to time.Ā
The day the meteor hits, Tim KNOWS he has to check it out. Richard is curious and follows along, to his dismay. Damian goes because Dick is going. As usual. Jason is in the facility before them, having been searching for his mother all this time (after uncovering some information of her being missing in space long ago) and is shocked to find Bruce of all people here. Drugged up, scarred beyond belief, and with a cold, metal, alien right arm. They had a falling out of sorts long ago, but can’t help worrying about his past mentor and wanting to rescue him. In comes the rest of the gang, Dick is a HUGE fan of Bruce’s, and insists on helping as well. This is who Tim was looking for too!! Bruce is literally Damian’s father in this AU too, I just haven’t figured out the details of his backstory yet ^^;;; Anyway, cue rescue hijinks!
The rest goes about the same. Jason points out the mysterious cave, Damian figures out the coordinates, and they discover the blue lion. Dick is accepted as the blue paladin (shocked as he is) and flies them all to the castle ship, where they meet Starfire (I was debating Kori or Cass for Allura, but Suki pointed out she’s already a powerful alien space princess…so yeah. It works) and Alfred (Coran).Ā
ā€œHi. I’m Richard Grayson. And you’re right here in my arms…you’re safe.ā€ Is very likely something Dickie would say, but in a more reassuring manner…before Kori beats him up anyway Xā€™ā€˜D He’s head over heels for her from the beginning, poor bab.Ā
Anyway! So Tim is Green, Dickie is Blue, Jason is Red, Damian is Yellow, and Bruce is Black. As for the rest of the batfam/dc verse, they’re either rebellion fighters, aliens, etc. Cass is Shay here, part of some shadow alien race that can’t speak very well. Damian is still obsessed with animals and misplaced creatures, so he’d be a total advocate for her oppressed race, and many others. I like to imagine she goes with the team. I could easily see Duke and Steph as Rebels…it could go on. Kent fam is already aliens, I’d love to see Jon meet Damian…haven’t figured that out yet though. Also I have hilarious images of Bruce struggling to trust Clark’s super powered alien race and build an alliance, but genuinely becoming friends over time!Ā
So yeah! Lots to play with here! Granted, I haven’t finished Voltron yet, so I don’t have it super solidly planned, but…it’s still fun! Here are some more sketches of the au:

Thanks for the tag, @theamiableanachronism! Ā I really enjoyed this one!
rules: choose any 3 fandoms (in random order) and answer the questions. then tag some friends.
i choose: • Batfam • Scarlet Heart Ryeo • The Walking Dead
the first character you loved:
• Bruce Wayne and Alfred. Ā My first real intro to the Batfam and DC was Batman Begins, and I thought Bruce Wayne was the coolest, bravest guy ever. Ā And Alfred was THE BEST. Ā Kind, fatherly/grandfatherly, loyal, sarcasm lord
• Wang So. Ā Obviously. Ā Even before I had actually seen a single episode, because I heard he had a tragic story, and he was also as beautiful as an angel. Ā A dark, wounded angel, but an angel none the less. Ā When he stormed onto the scene and revealed himself to totally be a murder angst cupcake, as advertised, well, I was bewitched
• Dear sweet Glenn, who sasses the heck out of Rick while saving his butt. Ā Yeah, Glenn, the pizza delivery boy who was the bravest, most unselfish of them all. Ā Who became one of the most trusted leaders. Ā He could have turned and left Rick to die, no one would have known or cared, but he didn’t. Ā He helped out a stranger, and saved a heck ton of other people by that simple act.
the character you never expected to love so much:
• All the Robins, honestly. Ā Look, when I watched the Dark Knight trilogy, all I knew about Robin was from a clip or two I had seen of the old campy Batman show, and I kind of was glad a legit Robin never showed up in the films just because I thought it would be ridiculous. Ā I was SO wrong. Ā I had no idea. Ā  I had no idea what dark, tragic, beautiful, light, funny, DEEP stories surrounded the MANY kids who would take up the Robin mantle
• Eun, I guess. I never hated him, but since he was always rather immature, it was easy to laugh at him and make fun of the things he did. Ā Then things happened, and while he remained naive in many ways, it was rather sweet and sad at the same time. Ā My dorky son deserved better
•Daryl Dixon. Ā Starts out seeming like a rough, angry, slightly racist redneck whose one redeeming quality is his concern for his even more messed up brother. Ā And then I realized how much of a softy he was underneath everything, how much he cared about Sophia, and how it destroyed him what happened to her. Ā I saw him connect with Carol, and befriend Rick and Glenn, and become Rick’s brother essentially, and be softened by Beth. Ā And as the seasons go on he becomes more badass, more caring, more indispensible to the group, and he loses the undesirable traits he picked up from his childhood. Ā We find out what his childhood was. Ā Daryl with Glenn is Rick’s right-hand man, and HE JUST CARES SO MUCH ABOUT EVERYTHING DON’T EVEN TRY TO DENY IT MAN
*I’m gonna cheat and add another person for TWD: Carl. Ā In the first season or two he is a little kid, kind of annoying at times, but boy does he grow up and mature. Ā It’s a terrible tragedy what he goes through, the things he sees and has to do that no kid should ever have to. Ā But he is so freaking strong, and he respects his dad so much, and I love his friendship with Michonne. Ā I love his concern for his little sister. Ā I love how he shoulders responsibility, how he does what he thinks is necessary, how he worries sometimes that he is becoming a monster too. Ā I FREAKING LOVE HOW HE WILL nOT PUT UP WITH NEGAN HE HAS NO EFFS TO GIVE FOR THE GUY HE IS TOO MAD AND HAS SEEN TOO MUCH
the character you relate to the most:
• Well, I can relate to Jason’s love for books, to Tim’s often more quiet and reserved nature. Ā However, I definitely relate to Dick Grayson the most. Ā He is more outgoing than me, more outspoken, but he has such great love for his friends and family. Ā The care for his little brothers (in canon and fanon) is something that particularly calls my attention. Ā You see, besides two older siblings, I have four younger brothers, and I have helped raise them, I have fought against them, fought with them, fought for them, laughed with them, and busted with pride over their accomplishments. Ā I have been the person who tried to organize them, to tease them, to keep the peace, to enforce the peace. Ā And maybe I am projecting but I just really see a lot of myself in Nightwing. Ā The man who hopes, the man who tries to bring light to the darkest of places, the man others trust to help them when they fall. Ā (I also just hold him in the deepest admiration and its a thing, I try to be a better and braver person so that if he were real I would be worthy of his friendship and respect...)
• A little bit Hae Soo, because I also would get increasingly frustrated by the culture at the time. Ā We also share a deep love with Wang So :) Ā Seriously though...maybe Baek Ah? Ā Because he is the quiet and introspective type, he suffers quietly, he listens and hears things and tries to help those who need it, he tries to bring the outcast brother back into the family. Ā He is a healer of sorts, a healer of the heart, and he loves little kids and everything beautiful. Ā He sees things. Ā
• Maybe this is me projecting again but Glenn? Ā Kinda small and nerdy, scared of a lot of things, but bravely keeps on trucking. Ā And slowly rises to being one of the most integral parts of the group. Ā A man who has strong morals and isn’t afraid to punch an ex-military man twice his size if that man gets between him and the people he loves
the character you’d slap:
• I’d say the Joker but honestly he deserves something more like a bullet to the head. Ā I would totally slap a lot of the writers who don’t know what character development means, and I would slap at least half the Batfam because sometimes they just don’t know how to communicate feelings properly. Ā And they frequently hurt each other even without meaning to. Ā After all of this, however, I would pull them all in for individual hugs. Ā Oh, I will also totally slap anyone who ever so much as tries to give Dick Grayson grief about the awful things that happened in the Blockbuster and Tarantula incident
• Wook. Ā UGH. Ā Also his sister and Queen Yoo. Ā The king, whatshisface. Ā Taejo? Ā also the little creep Won. Ā I would slap Yo but I would be afraid to mess up his eyeliner, which is on point at all times and is too wonderful to destroy
• Andrea. Ā I am so sorry but I could not stand that woman ever. Ā I rarely actively dislike a fictional person, and I apologize to fans of the comics, I realize that the show screwed over her character, but I despise Andrea with everything I’ve got. Ā Mostly because she runs around proclaiming how much better she is than everyone while at the same time making colossal mistakes. Ā And honestly her end was ridiculous. Ā If Glenn can take out a walker while beaten up and duct-taped to a chair, you can figure out how to pick up pliers with your feet
three favourite characters (in order of preference):
• Dick Grayson is the love of my life, and then I guess Bruce, Jason, Tim, and Damian are tied for second place, and then directly behind them are Barbara, Cass, and Steph (I need to read more comics and fics about them, and I am sure they will advance to make the second tier even more crowded). Ā Alfred is in a special category all on his own
• Wang So (love of my life), Bae(k) Ah, and I guess a tie with Hae Soo, Jung, Woo Hee, and Lady Oh
• Glenn is first in my heart now and forever, and Carl, Daryl, Carol, Michonne, Maggie, and Rick all hold second place. Ā I like a lot of the other characters, but I’m going to give third place to Tara, and she doesn’t have to share with anyone. Ā She is just that cool (also awkward and adorkable)
a character you liked at first but not anymore:
• I love every single member of the Batfam to with all my heart. Ā (The ones I am familiar with, don’t know much about Duke and Harper yet.) Ā To go beyond, to characters in the universe, well I won’t say I ever liked the Joker but I thought he was a really great bad guy, Batman’s ultimate foe, someone who should always be around throwing wrenches into things and whatnot. Ā This was after I had seen him in the The Dark Knight. Ā Then I started actually reading comics related things and HE KILLED JASON TODD. Ā MY SON. Ā NOW I DON’T CARE I WANT THE JOKER DEAD I WANT HIM DESTROYED, OBLITERATED, AND NEVER LOOKED BACK ON.Ā
• Wook. I thought he was occasionally sweet, if not exactly the strongest of persons. Ā And then I met his wife, who deserved SO MUCH BETTER. Ā And then Wook revealed himself to be a jealous little eggshell
• SHANE. Ā He’s kind of like The Walking Dead’s version of Scarlet Heart Ryeo’s Wook. Ā Originally a decent guy, a good friend, but when things go south, he gets selfish and self-centered and bad things happen.
a character you did not like at first but now do:
• No one really? Ā I think? Ā Unless you want to bring the show Gotham into this picture...which I don’t, because that would also make me want to write a book about my love for it and certain of its characters
• can’t think of anyone this applies to
• Hmm, I guess Herschel? He was kind of annoying with his whole ā€œlet’s round up walkers and take care of them in my barn.ā€ Ā Then tragedy and a near death experience and eventually he winds up being the cool old grandpa
3 otp’s (in order of preference):
• I actually don’t have a strong preference as of yet...I kind of like BatCat, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Ā I haven’t experienced much media with either pairing yet so I have read and enjoyed both DickBabs (I still say it should be Dabs) and DickKori. Ā Ooh I like Tim/Steph (is there a ship name for that?). Ā I ship Jason with happiness. Ā Actually I ship the whole Batfam with happiness and peace and a good night’s sleep. Ā I don’t ship Damian with anyone because he is just a bby birb :)
• SoSoo, Baek Ah x Woo Hee, Eun and Soon Duk (Deok?). Ā Also, So x Happiness/Peace/A Living Family Who Loves Him
• GLENN AND MAGGIE FOREVER. Ā TO INFINITY AND BEYOND. Ā Richonne is great and I definitely like Caryl. Ā (I shipped Bethyl just a little, once upon a dream.)
this was fun :) if any of y’all want to do this @itspileofgoodthings @thelonelybrilliance @nalavistahlia @blackaquokat @castieltaking-hobbits2gallifrey @camsthisky @abadpoetwithdreams @tabbyofwisdom ...I feel like there are other people I want to tag but it is way late (early) and my brain is dead forgive me if I left you out and please consider yourself tagged!

Do you think all the kids think of each other as siblings? Pretty much none of them grew up or were in Bruce's care at significantly overlapping times, and I'm not even sure to what extent like Dick or Tim see Bruce as their father or just a paternal/authority figure
This is heavily dependent on continuity because the new 52 did frankly weird things to some of these relationships. This is mostly Post-Crisis and may mesh with Rebirth since they’re drawing on Post-Crisis a bit more. I’m not including Duke yet because I’m not sure what’s officially happening there and it’s pretty clear they’re not yet at sibling stage there yet.Ā
Also, for some of these guys, they didn’t really interact at all so it’s all a bunch of assumptions.Ā
To start with, even Damian, who has technically always had siblings, was raised by Talia for a significant period and didn’t meet them until he was older and was indoctrinated to believe he was Bruce’s only child because he’s the only blood related one, which is horseshit because in Post-Crisis Bruce had spent about 20 years calling Jason his son and mourning him (DC was happy to make Bruce explicitly a father to Jason when he was dead, it’s actually quite interesting how it all changed with his return and the new 52. Ah, DC. I hate you.)Ā
So, Damian started out a hardĀ ā€˜no’ and has only recently explicitly referred to Dick as his father’s son. They pretty clearly have a sibling relationship (with overlapping parent-child because of how they started out) but I don’t think this extends to his other siblings necessarily, although I think his constant focus on proving himself better than all his siblings shows that on some level he acknowledges them. Despite the start, he’s most likely going to end up thinking of all of them as his siblings, but the timeline on each will probably end up different.Ā
Cass is hard because DC keeps sidelining her. She started out very much fostered by Babs and Bruce wasn’t really a factor for her–she thought of him only as the Bat and didn’t give two twigs about who Bruce Wayne was. By the time Bruce offered the adoption for her I think she’d mostly established her relationships with the others–bar Damian and Jason, really. I think she and Tim probably relate more as friends because they were friends before either became family to Bruce, but it might slide naturally towards siblings because who’s to say that they didn’t see that in each other when they wereĀ ā€˜just’ friends? Dick was never really a friend and if he was anything it was something of a big brother mentor, so he could slide into that easily for her. I think Jason and Damian might slide into the role ofĀ ā€˜siblings’ easier simply because that’s how she was introduced to them. Bruce took her to Jason’s grave site and Damian was introduced as Bruce’s son, and they have no pre-existing relationships to complicate matters. It’s just whether Cass goes fromĀ ā€˜Bruce’s sons’ toĀ ā€˜my brothers’ or not. I think she would, if DC would just stop sidelining her thanks.Ā
Tim and Dick had a brotherly relationship long before anything legal happened. But I honestly don’t see Tim seeing Bruce as his father. He was his mentor for a long time, and he’s definitely an important father figure and paternal influence in Tim’s life, but Tim was heavily invested in that reconciliation with his dad, and it actually seemed to be going places before DC decided to make another orphan. He was also much older when Jack Drake died. When Tim thinks ofĀ ā€˜dad’, it’s him, for better or worse. Tim clung to Bruce as a father after Bruce’s death, having lost another one so soon, but I just don’t see him doing such a switch, considering how he consistently seemed to pick Jack. I’m not saying Jack was a good father or anything, but yeah. I also don’t think his clinging to Bruce as extending to the rest of Bruce’s kids. Dick’s his brother for sure. Cass has been a female friend for a while and might already have been something of a sister, but Jason and Damian? Way harder sell. I think if he and Damian see each other as brothers it’s not happily. Jason and Tim…I’ll get to.Ā
Jason is without question Bruce’s son. He was, technically speaking, Bruce’s first son, as he was fully adopted in the 80s and after his death Bruce unequivocally called him by that when he spoke of him. Whatever retcons DC wants to do to push Damian as Bruce’s only kid, it’s whatever. There’s decades of history proving that wrong. Jason thinks of Bruce as his father, and was fairly happily adopted for a time. While Jason and Dick didn’t have much in a way of a relationship, I think it was probably still framed as ā€˜brothers’, of a kind, for them, since both seemed to have a bit of jealousy about the other that comes across fairly typically as sibling-like. It’s certainly not a significant relationship for either, but it’s there (Dick had a lot of regrets and I’m fairly convinced Jason became Little Brother in his head due to guilt afterwards). They haven’t really significantly interacted since his return until new 52/Rebirth really, there were some things in late Post-Crisis but Morrison…Anyway, they’re still quite coded in a big brother/little brother relationship, even when it was quite antagonistic. It was definitely not close though and could be argued. Jason and Damian have had very little interaction but they also have that weird thing with Talia. There has been some recent stuff in Rebirth with them. I think the Jason who came back wasn’t prepared to consider anyone who came after him a sibling, but I think Convergence and the recent stuff in Rebirth show that those two are going to end up in a fairly typical sibling relationship. It’s not there yet.Ā
Jason and Cass haven’t had any significant interactions in Post-Crisis (Cass was sidelined and I’m not sure they ever met) and he probably didn’t see her as much of anything at that point. If DC wasn’t sidelining Cass I could see them clicking the fastest on Jason’s end simply because he normally responds well to women generally anyway.Ā
Jason and Tim is where I diverge from Fandom at large. I really don’t care what the new 52 decided to do (literally they have a panel where Tim says flat out he’s not interacted with Jason much but still sees him as closest thing to a brother? I’m still boggling), it made absolutely no sense and came with no resolution. Tim calling himself Red Robin wouldn’t do crap to stop JasonĀ ā€˜Petty’ Todd from seeing him as his replacement (because that’s what Red Robin functionally was) and Tim justĀ ā€˜got over’ nearly being murdered by shrugging it off? No thanks. That and the complete erasure of Tim and Dick’s long history of their really strong (and important!) brotherly relationship killed me. I can’t do it, fam.Ā
Like…if you’ve read Lost Days and seen Jason’s reaction to Tim…I’m sorry but there is going to be some bitter resentment for a long, long time and I just do not see a fast resolution and happy family fun times there. Tim and Damian also have a longtime rivalry and I see theĀ ā€˜Damian tried to kill him’ used a lot there, and I’m not sure why that just gets dropped with Jason and Tim. Jason brutalized him. Damian was a 10 year old (I think that was his pre-retcon age at the time, it might’ve been the pre-pre-retcon 8 though) who attempted to murder him. Jason was older, bigger and could’ve done it. I’m fairly sure Tim would remember that and not leap head first into a brotherly relationship there. Or any relationship.Ā
Moving along, Dick. Dick sees them all as his siblings. He takes to a big brother mentor role well and he’s out and out called all of them his siblings before. I think Cass would be the only one it’s more doubtful but I’m blaming DC and saying it would extend to her. His relationship with Bruce is much more complex. I think at this point, yes, Bruce is his father. I think it did not start out that way. Both of them went into it from a different place–Dick didn’t want a replacement father, Bruce wasn’t looking for a kid. But I think it changed naturally. Probably when Dick was about 16-17 and went through puberty and started to naturally grow up and out and Bruce’s reaction was to come down hard on that and be overbearing. Their epic fights from when Dick was about 17-18 until he was in this 20s were pretty intense and I think came from them both trying to re-navigate what they were to each other. Dick wasn’t adopted until he was in his 20s and at that point it was aĀ ā€˜gesture’ for what was already long established. I think they still relate on a different level than purely father and son, which is that favoritism that Jason points out, but I do think that they view each other as that, now. It was a much longer and harder road getting there.Ā
Anyway this is my personal opinion based on mostly Post-Crisis and it’s comics so.Ā

two slow dancers, last ones out
by Graveyard_gremlins
In Danny's desperation to help others, he finds himself involved with yet another vigilante. A ghost that does not behave like a ghost. This time, it may cost his anonymity and the protection it brought to the Infinite Realms. While he attempts to help the ghost, he will have to face his shortcomings and face his longest-standing rival one last time. And maybe save the universe in the process. Or Jason doesn't know how to cope with being a Ghost. So he decides that the healthiest thing he can do is to focus on his new crush. He is wrong. Obviously.

Two dogs. Titus is Damian’s and Ace is Bruce’s. Ace is a German Shepard. Titus is the large black dog.
Batcow... I haven’t read the actual comic where she first comes in but from my understand Damian somehow made his way into a Slaughterhouse when on a mission. Ended up adopting Batcow and swearing that from then in he was a vegetarian.
Cassandra Cane (I miss when it was Cassandra Wayne) is asain. Or at least half asain. I’m not so sure if her dad is or not. He doesn’t appear to be but you never know. She’s Bruce’s adopted daughter pre new 52. Also has really abusive parents, grew up being used as a tool and assassian, and is still learning how to talk, kicks ass and can read people better than anybody. Can also kick Bruce’s ass as she better at Hand to hand combat than he is. (Then again most of his kids are better than him in at least one area) I don’t think he’s re-adopted her in the New 52/Rebirth time line yet. She was the Batgirl after Barbra and was Batgirl when Tim was Robin. She then became Black Bat and in the current story line she goes by Orphan.
Stephane Brown was Spoiler then Robin for a time then she was the Batgirl after Cass when Cass became Black Bat. She dated Tim. Then they broke up. Now she’s Spoiler in the current time line and back to dating Tim.
Barbra Gordon was originally the second Batgirl. But the original original is basically so irrelevant that Barbra is basically the first. She’s the first story wise currently. She was shot by the Joker and was paralyzed and lost use of everything below her waist. As such she couldn’t be Batgirl anymore and took on the persona of Oracle. She got around in a wheel chair and basically was the info gather of the group and kept tabs on stuff and helped from the shadows. She’s back to being Batgirl in the New 52/Rebirth timeline because she regained use of her legs. Though I personally prefer her as Oracle and Stephanie as Batgirl but oh well.
Kate Kane is Bruce’s cousin on his mothers side. She batwoman. She grew up with a military family and did serve. She is gay but I can’t remember the name of her girlfriend at the moment.
Duke Thomas is new. He’s from the Robin War story line. I’m still getting to know his character. He goes by the code name Signal.... I think. I thought it was Lark for a long time but I’ve recently heard its Signal. He lived at the manor for a good bit because his parents are gone at the moment. I don’t think they are dead. I’ve heard he’s moving in with a cousin of his. Idk I haven’t been to the comic store in two weeks.
Dick Grayson’s my favorite of the bunch but I’ve grown up with him the most out of all of them so I may be biased. He’s the first robin and has been around nearly as long as Bruce. Was created less than a year after him and in the comics was around within a year of Bruce being Batman. Became Nightwing at the age of 18. Then Batman at the age of 26-28 with Damian as his Robin. Is now back to being Nightwing in the New 52/Rebirth time line. Like most characters he’s had his age messed with and is like 22 or something now when he should be around 31 by now. But the comics don’t let character age. Damian turned 13 yet Tim who was 17 when Damian was introduced at like 8-9 is still 17. (Then again Damian aged 3 years and no one aged with it. Since him aging that much doesn’t fit and was only for a poor plot line to do the whole ā€œthirteenth birthdayā€ story). Dick has dated and nearly married both Kory Anders (Starfire) and Barbra Gordon. He’s currently living in Bludhaven which was his Gotham in the pre new 52 comics. he’s also one of the orginal founders of the Teen Titans.
Ahh sorry if this is too much. If you want to know about the other memebers or even more about the ones I’ve mentioned let me know. I could talk about the Batfam for hours if not days.
I’ve got a rudimentary knowledge of the DCU, which is to say my dad’s a giant fan and hey things rub off on you, but the batfam stuff coming across my dash is hilarious, and I don’t know who everyone is, so I’m making myself a list so I can keep track of them all
Bruce: the Dad. Literally adopts another kid every year, there’s a million of them, at this point they might start reproducing with each other
Alfred: the tired Grandpa; the only adult in the whole manor I s2g
Dick: Nightwing, a flippin acrobat, takes negative things seriously
Jason: he died once, does nothing but antagonize Damian
Tim: the Nerd, techie, is running on redbull and spite at this point in the investigation (what investigation? Doesn’t matter. He has one)
Damian: ~tt~ the only one relates by blood, tiny, like 12 years old but the scariest little gremlin you’ve ever seen
Cassandra: tim’s partner in crime when it comes to messing with Jason, I think she’s Asian??? Idk
Stephanie: blonde.
Barbara: batgirl/Oracle, was (is?) in a wheelchair, a Gordon, tries to be a mom but no
Duke: new guy, doesn’t feel like he fits in
Kate: G A Y (also was in the military??? You go girl)
Ace: good dog
Bat-Cow: idek at this point, I’ve given up

Spider-Man: Homeless
by FishyisConfused
