I really love the way the Christians in my church will look at me when I talk about things that interest me, like video games and anime and manga. They often look like they just want to tell me to grow tf up. They look like they never once considered the possibility that maybe God gave me these interests so that I can relate to certain other people in this world, people who have, themselves, been deemed as outcasts by the Christian community for their love of games and anime and manga.
God doesn't just sit in a church and preach. He can't only be found by volunteering for non-profit religious groups. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might" (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Do you know why this verse is in there? Okay, yeah, part of it is because people like to be lazy and they need to be reminded that God made us to work for Him. But I think it's partly also because God sometimes gives the "uncomely members" of the church (1 Corinthians 12:23) talents and/or interests that are niche or cringe. And He expects us to use those talents and interests, no matter how small and insignificant they might seem to be (Matthew 25:14-30).
Not everything that comes into our hearts and minds is from God (in fact, a good majority of it is NOT), but if you enjoy something that doesn't go against God's Word, then maybe, just maybe that thing IS from God, and maybe you should get to explore it and enjoy it and give God a chance to show you whether He wants you to use it or not.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4
The meaning of this verse is somewhat debated. No one can decide whether it means that God will give you the things that you desire, or whether He gives you the desires themselves. So I think it means both. He gives you the desire itself, and then He makes something out of it.

How Dare We
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 How dare we question God. Yet we do. Why? Because we want our own way. We think we know better than Him. Do you see how selfish that is? How arrogant? Did…

Proverbs Daily Reflection – January 22, 2025
My good name reputation and integrity are all that matters in my life at this point. A good name before my God matters more to me than what men think, although what men think does matter. #josephmekaelpageministries
Reflection on Proverbs 22:1 A good name is more desirable than great riches. This profound truth from Proverbs 22:1 (KJV) teaches us a vital lesson. Our character and reputation form a legacy that holds more value than any material wealth we could accumulate. Many chase after riches. They adopt ruthless tactics or step over others to achieve their goals. However, they fail to consider eternity…

2. St. Simeon Stylites - literally lived on top of a pillar! Like imagine a big Greek Doric pillar he lived there for years he was one of the pillar saints ppl would bring him food to survive. He had a vision of "God" calling him to descend the pillar by jumping and he said GOD WOULDNT WANT ME TO KMS go away you're the devil
3. St. Joan of Arc - everyone knows her but she's super duper close to me I tell the church ladies about her
4. St. Hildegard of Bingen - first nun to ever write about an orgasm in such detail read her book Scivias she also painted things our talented queen
5. St. Benedict - Ora et labora guy! He speaks to me! Founder of western monasticism wrote the rule of st benedict wc is instruction for monks on how to behave like dont speak during meals etc etc in fact dont speak at all. speaking causes u to sin etc etc
6. St. Denis - martyred by beheading and after his time at the chopping block he got up and picked up his head and walked away. Absolute G
7. St. Audrey - I read about her bc I got the anglo saxon ecclesiastical history by Bede when i was like 14 she dies and her body doesn't corrupt and they decided to beatify her etc etc her name used to be Aethelthryth, she got a tumor on her neck, she says its gods punishment for all the necklaces she wore as a princess
8. St. John Paul II - I like him bc of what he says about the eastern orthodox churches, I love eastern orthodoxy its like a sister faith he says catholics and eastern orthodox are the two lungs of the church🫁
9. St. Michael Archangel - Catholicism's very own Levi Ackerman (and actually eastern orthodox too. we love our mikhail) . does that help. u know when the battle is almost done and Jon Snow is getting clapped Sansa comes in with her Vale knights smugly standing in the corner. The Wise Woman
1 The wise woman builds her house, But the woman of folly tears it down with her own hands. 2 He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, But he who is devious in his ways despises Him. 3 In the mouth of the ignorant fool is a rod of lofty pride, But the lips of the wise will keep them. 4 Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox. 5 A faithful witness will not lie, But a false witness breathes out lies. 6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none, But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding. 7 Leave the presence of a fool, As you have not known lips of knowledge there. 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit. 9 Ignorant fools scoff at guilt, But among the upright there is favor. 10 The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its gladness.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish. 12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. 13 Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, And the end of joy may be grief. 14 The one who turns back in his heart will be satisfied with his ways, But a good man will be satisfied with his. 15 The simple believes everything, But the prudent one discerns his steps.
16 A wise man fears and turns away from evil, But a fool gets angry and feels secure. 17 A quick-tempered man acts in folly, And a man of evil schemes is hated. 18 The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge. 19 The evil will bow down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous. 20 The poor is hated even by his neighbor, But those who love the rich are many. 21 He who despises his neighbor sins, But how blessed is he who is gracious to the poor. 22 Will they not wander in error who devise evil? But lovingkindness and truth will be to those who devise good.
23 In all painful labor there is profit, But mere words from the lips lead only to want. 24 The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools is folly. 25 A truthful witness delivers souls, But he who breathes out lies is deceitful. 26 In the fear of Yahweh there is strong security, And his children will have refuge. 27 The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death. 28 In a multitude of people is a king’s splendor, But in the dearth of people is a prince’s ruin. 29 He who is slow to anger has great discernment, But he who is quick-tempered raises up folly. 30 A tranquil heart is life to the body, But jealousy is rottenness to the bones. 31 He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him. 32 The wicked is thrust down by his own evil, But the righteous takes refuge even in his death. 33 Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, But in the midst of fools it is merely made known. 34 Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people. 35 The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts insightfully, But his fury is toward him who acts shamefully. — Proverbs 14 | Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) Legacy Standard Bible Copyright ©2021 by The Lockman Foundation. Paralleling the Wisdom of Solomon to the New Testament
So, I was having a look at the Wisdom of Solomon - if you don't know, it's one of those books that Roman Catholics and Orthodox have but Protestants and Jews don't. One of the standard arguments from Protestants is "the New Testament doesn't quote from them, therefore they aren't Scripture." I'll be blunt, all Protestant and most Roman Catholic arguments for how they get the canon come off as lame and disingenuous to me (Orthodoxy doesn't really have the Western concept of canonicity; will elaborate for those interested), but this one in particular; most obviously, there are canonical books that aren't directly quoted in the New Testament (such as Esther and Ecclesiastes). But the topic of this post is that the Wisdom of Solomon is, in my opinion, paraphrased by the New Testament twice (for consistency, all quotes will be New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition).
Compare Wisdom 7:26:
For She is a reflection of eternal light, a spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of His goodness.
To Hebrews 1:3a:
He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and He sustains all things by His powerful word.
And compare Wisdom 13:5-9:
For from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator. Yet these people [who worship nature] are little to be blamed, for perhaps they go astray while seeking God and desiring to find him. For while they live among his works, they keep searching, and they trust in what they see, because the things that are seen are beautiful. Yet again, not even they are to be excused; for if they had the power to know so much that they could investigate the world, how did they fail to find sooner the Lord of these things?
To Romans 1:20-21
Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse; for though they knew God, they did not honour Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened.

Why the Bible Should Be Reinstated as a Subject in Schools
By Zoë Scott
Youth culture is experiencing a modern ethical decline characterized by race-based narcissism, the growing acceptance of platforms like OnlyFans among young women aged 18 to 44, and aggressive advocacy for minor transgender-affirming care on TikTok; these trends raise concerns about the absence of moral boundaries regarding children, autonomy, and identity.
We cannot pinpoint when the decline in social morality and dignity began, or conclude its normalization. Factors like unsupervised internet access, administrative failures in 2020, and unilateral diversity efforts likely contributed to the present educatory decline, distorted social norms, and equating of 'micro-labels' to self-determination.
A notable example of a breeding ground for social contagions and negative influences is modern schools.
School has been the cultural and foundational experience necessary for the adolescent development of character, intelligence, and independence. Parents rely on this environment, as an extension of caring for their child's cognizant well-being, to promote focused development and responsibility in social skills, academics, and future aspirations.
However, we now observe a pattern of deception within education. The educational system has shifted from nurturing skills and protecting knowledge integrity to openly discussing various ideologies and unconventional sexual education, often without adequate parental permission or awareness.
This deception reveals the modern shift from traditional support structures, like church and family, towards external counsel and the disregard for professional boundaries and parental rights - resulting in unhealthy affinities between students and the school's authority and independence.
We recognize the significance of orthodox school subjects and their teachers, but we also question how moral issues and inappropriate social trends are addressed within the academic context. In response, I propose reinstating the Bible as a subject in schools.
Religion examines the concepts of right and wrong, fact and fallacy, nature versus nurture, truth versus emotion, and purpose versus plan. The Bible serves as a well-known source for exploring these ideas and issues.
Through the Bible, students can discern between the wisdom of Proverbs and self-help, contextualize the sociology of Leviticus with social movements, compare Tanakh/Torah laws to modern legislation, and explore ecclesiastical poetry in Job and Ecclesiastes. Students will also strengthen their reading, grammar, and speaking skills by examining the differences between the Bible's King James and our Standard English.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible contrasts moral dilemmas and relatable life lessons through stories, testimonies, psalms, and verses.
Teaching the Bible offers contemporary, endurable, mature solutions to modern problems. The Bible can guide our youth toward modesty, thoughtfulness, and healthy choices in friendships, family, health, sexuality, and self-awareness. These teachings can support their growth and help them navigate their social development into adulthood.
During their formative years, students are highly impressionable. Combining age-appropriate sociology with biblical studies will equip our youth with the moral compass to navigate their exposure to inappropriate deportments often encouraged on social and public platforms. The Bible's objectivity will enable both teachers and students, adults and children, influencers and influenced, to investigate their biases, behavior, thinking patterns, and authority more critically and carefully.
While the Bible also contains violent and graphic themes; such studies can be reserved for high school students (grades 9-12) with sufficient critical thinking skills and can confidently interpret complex narrations of rape, death, and war within their historical context and confront the uncomfortable realities paralleled in their present day.
Many people will disapprove of teaching the Bible as a subject in schools. They argue it could be biased and infringe upon their First Amendment, potentially deny other religions their space and expression, or reinforce misconstrues and negative attitudes toward specific communities.
This proposal outlines an elective course for students supervised by a subject expert focused on the Bible. The aim is to explore the positive effects of biblical values on families, communities, education, politics, language, media, and personalities while promoting diverse religious perspectives, critical thinking, and appropriate repudiates.
The Bible reaffirms the mastery of our creation and the power of free will when driven by the virtues of patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and peace. Reaffirming these virtues and honorable life skills will transform the next generation's perspectives on social norms, identity, and governance.
Dismantling this destructive culture of self-determination and self-gratification, with biblical guidance, will rebalance the dynamics of acceptance and adolescence, and recalibrate the positive power our youth will channel into future ambitions, environments, and civics.
