i am literally not even halfway done with the book but so far i'm not super sure i actually agree with that fandom consensus that celene/briala belong in the "bioware writers are weird about gay women" category. so far the only thing celene has in common with marjolaine and branka is that she was a VERY BAD lover
#i mean i understand the meat of the critique right. that bioware plays into the ''predatory lesbian'' to such an extent it reflects.#a problem. with how the writers view gay women.#but the issue with marjolaine and branka was like. 1) their gayness was played for shock value and ONLY shock value#2) they were so comically evil in a game that usually tries to be more nuanced about abuse dynamics it was absurd#and 3) their relationships were deliberately portrayed in an manner where one woman (the more assertive/less traditionally''feminine'')#was exploiting and preying on the other (the softer and naive one who was just blinded by love)#not to mention that insanity with both marjolaine and branka cheating on their partners with men (ok branka cheated on the man but ykwim)#idk celene and briala definitely are not HEALTHY by any stretch of the imagination#and i think theres a conversation to be had about how long it took to have a ''fluffy'' wlw couple#but i think lumping them in as an example of ''wlw done Wrong'' is actually far more reductive and harmful than people realize#i mean we're in the ''yay toxic yuri ^_^'' era of tumblr right now but unironically exploring these dynamics IS a good thing#so long as its done in a meaningful/nuanced way#celene works i think because as a reader you're able to empathize with her and understand her and Like her even despite the horrible things#shes done#plus the love between her and briala is very very real and very palpable in all of their interactions right#i don't think asking bioware to put wlw on this pedestal of purity is very helpful in the longterm even if i do understand the frustration#idk.

despite the fact that emma describes catseye as ‘relating to her as a surrogate mother’, without acknowledging her as a daughter, i really think her detachment from her in her files is a front, whether deliberate or not. sharon was functionally illiterate and unable to communicate when she found her, the other hellions would have been much easier to train. considering how many mutants there were on earth at the time the hellions were formed (previous to any mutant genocide storylines, about a year before they were introduced in new mutants #16) the odds that sharon was the only mutant teenager she could have acquired are ridiculously low. she made the deliberate decision to take catseye into her own care and raise her, despite the fact that she remained unconvinced of the necessity of fighting the new mutants at all

I was thinking how empaths should I’m theory be the most emphatic people since their whole thing is feeling others emotions .However I feel like I’m the contrary what if the overexposure of emotions they experience cause them to find less value and meaning behind them. I mean in the books we often see empaths announcing people’s emotions to the room I think that might be due to the fact that they don’t see the secrecy people feel towards their emotions since it’s so out in the open for them. they might not understand how personal an emotion could be since to them it’s out in the open.
TO CLARIFY IM NOT SAYING EMPATHS CANT BE EMPHATIC what I am saying I think the concept of empaths might not really understanding the significance of an emotion hence they might not be as emphatic is really interesting and has a lot of potential to be explored

I just picture Will rummaging through his mind like a closet, and every single person he has ever met and ever been are articles of clothing to wear at his convenience. Not just killers, though those do get a lot of use, obviously, but also regular people too. He is a chameleon who can shed his skin at will.

i understand that its a logical source of conflict if ur gonna rewrite the story into a romance but it truly baffles me how universal the portrayal of demeter as shrill possessive harpy helicopter mom has become. like yeah being upset when your daughter got kidnapped and dragged to a realm you have no access to and you can never see her again is totally not normal at all it must mean she was a controlling freak.

Something I love most about this scene is the absolute chaos it caused. Really the chaos Neytiri Jake caused. She knew ramifications of mating with a dreamwalker. Sure having physical relations with one is one thing, but to mate under Eywa? And while betrothed to another man? AND to be future Tsahìk of your clan!? Muah. Love. I always loved how stubborn and defiant Neytiri was.
Impulsive too. She was confident saying “this little himbo belongs to me now”, in a way the first clip is her showing him off proudly as an act of defiance to her parents, either out of spite or (unintentionally.) She didn’t think through any of the consequences this act would have on herself, Jake, or Tsu’tey. Not to mention what it would do to the family’s legacy and clan’s future. Mating with Jake jeopardized everything, yet she still stood confidently and looked Mo’at in the eyes and said it was done. There’s a deleted unfinished scene where Mo’at says if Neytiri went down this path she could never be Tsahìk and that her life would have been wasted. Makes you think about the cultural implications of this whole mess. And what it does to Tsu’tey and the clan’s future. But Neytiri said “nah he’s staying” lol I love it.

☆▪︎"Let's do what great lovers do
I want to be just like you
But you give yourself away
To a lover from the past
But you give yourself away
To a lover from the past
It's simple, you're who I live for
Though you don't seem to think
We're good enough for you
For you
For you
But you give yourself away
To a lover from the past
But you give yourself away
To a lover from the past"▪︎☆

[tumblr wouldn’t let me edit only the tags for some reason and i had more to come back and say with them]
"A story doesn't need a theme in order to be good" I'm only saying this once but a theme isn't some secret coded message an author weaves into a piece so that your English teacher can talk about Death or Family. A theme is a summary of an idea in the work. If the story is "Susan went grocery shopping and saw a weird bird" then it might have themes like 'birds don't belong in grocery stores' or 'nature is interesting and worth paying attention to' or 'small things can be worth hearing about.' Those could be the themes of the work. It doesn't matter if the author intended them or not, because reading is collaborative and the text gets its meaning from the reader (this is what "death of the author" means).
Every work has themes in it, and not just the ones your teachers made you read in high school. Stories that are bad or clearly not intended to have deep messages still have themes. It is inherent in being a story. All stories have themes, even if those themes are shallow, because stories are sentences connected together for the purpose of expressing ideas, and ideas are all that themes are.

I subscribed to Birdmoss and it’s The Best. I was trying to decide between Witch Casket and Birdmoss, but Birdmoss is a whole fae world so obviously I went with that. NO REGRETS! The things that have multiple versions of — like a wooden magnet with an animal carved that’s the group (house of ___) who chooses to represent you in the world of birdmoss, there are a few animals and they intuitively pick one for you, one had an oracle card chosen and put in an envelope without them seeing it, stuff like that — every time it’s been something that does have personal meaning. Had they chosen an owl for the magnet it would have just been “oh that’s pretty.” The one they chose has meaning to my ancestry. Without fail, significantly meaningful.
You don’t know the theme until you get that month’s box. My first was The Selkies. Sea fae, specifically sídhe.. yep! Gorgeous stuff too. Everything is of great quality, handmade by small businesses, and things like how the Wolf Box (from over a year ago but is being sold again temporarily) has “a wisp of fur” that was collected from just normal shedding off wolves in a rescue & rehabilitation and included information about the place!
It’s all amazing. I can’t sing their praises enough lol Their insta is pretty great too. Kind of like a JustFaeThings type of account. It’s fun. I hope they bring back the Bee Box.
Edit: hashtag NotAnAd lol

I just wanted to share this article about Palestine's right to revolt and why it is important that we support it. It also has sources embedded in the text that debunk misinformation about them and Hamas. I implore everyone to read it and spread this information around.
Edit [12/25/23 3:19 PM GMT+]: I should also emphasize that the article is an opinion piece, so I also encourage you to also do further research to come to your own critical conclusions.
As a whole, the article still explores why Palestinians resist. As someone whose entire history was build on resisting against oppressors (I'm Filipino), I can understand and empathize where they are coming from. This is one way that I wish to express my solidarity.

Feel You in Blues
I’ve searched far and wide The galaxies across I’ve gone through death and life  When you’re lost in the dark Every glimpse I get of light It came from my heart If this isn’t the right time I don’t know when to start If mirrors told the truth  Why do I see you when I’m looking at me? What should I do If we gravitate to each other instinctually? I’ve been hurt before But I’m not…
