What I liked best about Jinx and Sevika's first post-Silco talk was how well it implies why their grief is so pronounced. Every complaint the two lodged at Silco was an admission at how dependent Silco had become on them, how much he LET himself be dependent. Silco didn't NEED to let Jinx give him his eye medicine, he was perfectly capable of doing so in season one's first act. The same could be said about Sevika, because while it wasn't nearly as extreme as with Jinx, he didn't need to give her so much responsibility. Frankly it's dangerous for a kingpin to give their righthand so much power (it's supposed to be spread around), and everyone noticed, even idiots like Finn.
Tumblr media
That's why their loss is so pronounced, in all the years they dedicated to Silco, he gave up just as much of himself to them. Silco weakened himself and trusted Sevika and Jinx to make up for it. They filled eachother out, they needed eachother, and without him there's just a hole what they all used to give eachother.

A coworker was teasing me for always saying "my little brother"/"my younger brother" because 'you only have one, you don't have to specify' but yes I do have to repeat that he's the younger one. You don't understand. He's taller than me.

90% of Watership Down content you see (art, quotes, references, everything) is about the blessing of El-ahrairah and honestly I get it, that quote hits harder than anything most books have to offer

Something I never really thought about until the recent chapters of Deltarune is Kris’s agility and gracefulness. They elegantly twirl while gliding through the air during the cooking minigame, even with plates of food stacked on their head.
Tumblr media
They possess an incredible sense of balance, seeing as they can stack a multitude of items on their head without fail in both chapters two and three.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also have excellent technique when it comes to turning. When they perform a pirouette/spin during battle in either chapter one or chapter four, their foot is pointed, their balance is well maintained, and their spotting is very consistent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They’re also pretty remarkable when it comes to doing squat kicks at a quick speed, as seen in both chapter two and chapter three.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While some of this could be a result of the influence of the player, I do still believe Kris possesses a lot of skill when it comes to dancing. Their abilities could nod to the notion that they were a dancer at some point, or at the very least took dance classes.

replaying kcd2 now and at first i didn’t really understand why hans just left henry and fended for himself but after thinking it through… hans really wants to prove himself to his uncle, wants other people to see he matured and is ready for his responsibilities. and delivering a message isn’t per se that tough of a task. since he had the responsibility for his crew, he actually blames himself a lot — that’s why you get approval points if you reassure him when he feels guilty about things that happened in the game. anyway, he trusts henry even though they bicker and fight like an old couple, so hearing from someone so close to him that he’s actually at fault hurts like crazy — that genuinely offended him. he needs someone to back him up and believe in him. so when you meet him again at the wedding, he basically says “shoo. i wasn’t good enough for you, now leave me alone.” which again proves that he is in fact hurt by henry’s critique but also lowkey blames himself because let’s be real… it was lowkey his fault that they ended up the way they did.

I get the vibe, given Hulmes's joke about "Oh I know [I will get insight checked], I've seen the show :)", that Calianna was built specifically to push buttons for this particular party, which is my favorite character creation strategy when bringing in a character to an established party. It's pretty common with experienced DMs who know how beneficial introducing that kind of tension (if not outright conflict) can be (Deanna's a standout for that reason, and you can even see it with Padmund, with his adolescent hero worship in the face of Beau and Yasha's parental midlife crisis) but also with very good players (Tary and Lieve'tel are obviously designed to poke at specific and acute sore spots, and examples like Braius and Reani pick at more general themes that the party has been rubbing up against, but to an extent even Chetney and Kingsley fall into this category).
This isn't to say that this is the only way to handle a character in this scenario—and certainly it shouldn't be prioritized over making a character who can have their own full arc. Both Caduceus and Orym, had Liam brought him in during campaign 1, were built to help ease a loss, which can very much help spur character movement in a different way. But it does illustrate well that in an ensemble cast like an adventuring party, the best approaches to character creation are the ones that leave plenty of opportunity for growth not only of the individual PC, but all of the PCs around them as well.

Hi just here to gush
I love your art so much, the panels are so incredibly alive and colorful, i dont know how to explain it but there is so much love and passion in everything you seem to do. Sometimes I randomly think about the "please, continue" raphael comic and get this tight feeling in my chest because it's literally stunning. The colors! The movements! The Greygold! I never gave a shit about the Emperor but boy do I now because of your comics!
You dont have to respond to this publically or anything but I just wanted to hop in and say that you inspire me so much as an artist and I love going through your catalogue and rereading the whole thing ^-^

You know, as much as I would've loved a massive catharsis-led triumph over Athion Zathuda in battle, possibly left at the mercy of the vibrant flames of Fearne's Titan form reiterating herself with aplomb as Fearne Calloway, I actually kinda love how the narrative chose to defeat him. In many ways it is just hilarious, but also ironically in-character. Man talked all about wanting to prove himself, had a grandiose title of 'Sorrowlord' and was looking to be both a physical and mental adversary after threatening to torment Fearne into becoming Exaltant by targeting her loved ones. But then when he is pit against Bells Hells he barely does a thing; he tries to talk his way into turning Fearne again, gets jumpscared by Ira, the 'farm girl' he mocked to Fearne commandeers his dragon, he loses a leg and is thrown off his dragon, and the Hells even opt to keep him alive for some reason in 107 before kinda accidentally offing him in 108.
He thought he was the shit, but enemies of true threat like Ludinus, Otohan and Liliana (a threat before she was turned) looked down on him, and thus his attempts to prove them wrong - while also falling into the same trap as Ashton's father in seeking out a personal destiny and being willing to see their child as a tool to do it - bore no fruit at all, he was practically an afterthought through and through, his dragon really being his entire threat level. In the end, he got killed running (well, hobbling) away, and while Gloamglut's keening was a little sad in a way that a pet cannot fathom the moral complexity of having to kill their owner he still had it coming, plus following his eternal torture in the Tiki Bar of Ligament Manor, the last sorrow he wrought was his own; he achieved nothing, everything he hints he did to get to his position was for naught, and for all the fear and danger he tried to make himself possess he truly had no power over anyone, especially not Fearne - who can only pity him and, as further proof of being better than he ever was, hope that he takes the time to reflect on his sorrows.

Do you ever think about how almost all of hollow knight is genuinely horrifying actually?
The infection, the fact that whatever Hallownest was is Long gone, the concept of the city locking it's gates forever and the slow, horrific consequences thereof. Abyss *exists??* The handful of bugs that haven't lost their mind probably go weeks or months without seeing anyone else, with the exception of the bugs in Dirtmouth. Deepnest is like, at least 60% corpses. Most places have at least a few corpses. Hell, they fall from the fucking sky in Kingdom's Edge.
I think the art style and the fact that the player character doesn't acknowledge any of it goes a long way into pushing the horror of the setting into the background, but like. You could write some absolutely nightmarish shit I think

Love in Suikoden II when your party is extremely overleveled for the area you don't flee from a fight, no you take pity on the enemies and graciously allow them to flee.
