Im really curious if Americans ever read the actual laws being passed, literally ever. Everyone is memeing Americans migrating to red note, oblivious that the bill to ban TikTok specifically makes it so that the government can ban ANY app or website that poses security risks without it being its own bill, just pick it and ban it, which shows how 1) unserious Americans are and 2) cements that Americans vote like using moon phases to decide which stranger on the street to marry

i have pretty much always hated the US government (getting raised by punk commies will do that to you) but something that's currently making me hate them more is the tiktok ban, both because it's a platform i use and am quite successful on and enjoy but also because there are so many other important things that the government could be focusing on

flint michigan hasn't had clean drinking water since i was in elementary school. i am in my second semester of my freshman year of college. it's been more than a decade. hundreds of children die every year to gun violence but god forbid the government infringe upon the second amendment even a little bit by enforcing stricter firearms laws. god forbid children in public schools get free lunches because that's socialism. no none of these are important, you know what is to the US govt? shutting down literally millions of people's income source. with no evidence that it does what they claim it does. meta has been proven to sell user data to china but it's tiktok that's the problem, because its parent company is chinese.

the government cares more about fucking league of legends than the safety of its citizens. sure. why not. get rid of video games and the launching platform of millions of small businesses and independent creators. that's what really matters. great job guys, really using your seats of power for the good of the people
