The foxes are witness to Nicky’s mother henning first and foremost when it comes to the team being made to do exercises or a run outside one day and he whips the bottle out his back pack and starts slathering it on the twins cheeks and arms but it’s the one thing both of them gave in and let Nicky have it on because they were too awkward to fight it the first times it happened and when Kevin joins the team as one of Andrew’s he gets included too, then Andrew drags Neil in after 1st year ends

bobby’s death irks me on several levels. some of my qualms are that it feels rushed and inconsistent with the premise of the show.

the story doesn’t give the audience enough time to worry about bobby’s survival. we go straight from the resolution of chimney’s emergency to bobby’s impending, certain death. what about his (step) children? how will they react to finding out? when will they be finding out? what about eddie, an indispensable member of bobby’s found family? a lot has happened to eddie’s found family in the past few days, things that would be hard enough to process without bobby’s death; how is eddie dealing with the fact that he can’t be/isn’t present? how do chris and the firefam feel about eddie’s absence? these are some of the questions that the audience should get to sit with and process. bobby’s death feels frivolous and unearned because the audience isn’t allowed the time to invest in this emergency. it’s not even an emergency, it’s a forgone conclusion that the audience is expected to accept without much thought.

moreover, the show has demonstrated, as recently as this two-part arc, that the members of this family DO NOT give up on each other. they fought like hell for hen and chim in this arc. they fought to get maddie back when she was kidnapped (twice), they fought for buck when he was crushed by a ladder truck, they were there for eddie when he got shot, they were there for denny and his immediate family when they needed it, chim helped ravi process some of his trauma. THEY HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF EACH OTHER. so you see how it’s weird when they're written into a predicament where they have to let their patriarch die, a situation where they have no recourse whatso-fuckin-ever⁉️ like?????? are we for real?

take the season 7 opening emergency, for example. would i have been happy if bobby and/or athena died as a result of the capsize? of course not. but that potential arc would’ve had several episodes where the audience follows the firefam as they try and, unfortunately, fail to save either or both of them. that would've been consistent with the premise of the show. the audience has been promised a show about a family that loves and fights for one another. that's not what we got with bobby’s death.
