Do you guys remember the time in Heir of Novron when Merrick showed up in Hadrians room and asked him if Royce ever talks about him, and when Hadrian said he sounded like an abandoned mistress he changed the subject?

It cracks me up a bit that while Hadrian is the one who ends up with Arista, Royce is the one who winds up in all the romantic tropes with her. Royce saves her from her tower. Royce saves her when she gets kidnapped by a dragon. Royce is her fake husband in Hintindar. They have the most romance novel/fairytale princess events going on, but the romance is utterly dead. Never even existed. But there's also kinda this mutual trust and respect that, all joking aside, is actually kinda cute to me, because Hadrian is so important to Royce. There's even a whole bit where Royce is entrusting him to her and it feels believable because of these little scenes. Because before Arista ever falls in love with Hadrian, she learns to get along with his best friend who no one else gets along with, and that's so important to me.
