★⋆. — HOGWARTS ELECTIVE CLASSES TO SCRIPT

˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆. ࿐࿔
𓆩♡𓆪 — ENCHANTED ARTIFACTS
ever wanted to know how cursed rings, bewitched mirrors, and sentient diaries work? this course teaches you how to identify, dismantle, and (if you’re brave) create magical relics—you never know when you’ll need an enchanted necklace or a vanishing cabinet, i suppose
𓆩♡𓆪 — WIZARDING FASHION HISTORY
from the enchanted silks of the 1500s to robes that literally spark joy (or flames) in the 1900s, this elective dives into the who, what, and why tho of wizarding couture. you’ll learn how clothing reflected magical politics (hello, anti-Muggle fabrics), the most popular clothing charms over the centuries, and why Merlin’s pointy hat was such a massive deal at the time
𓆩♡𓆪 — CURSE REVERSAL
sometimes, magic backfires—this class teaches you how to undo everything from jinxed cauldrons to full-on blood curses. it’s half science, half art, and fully life-saving
𓆩♡𓆪 — HEALING
for the bleeding hearts (and bloody injuries). this elective teaches advanced healing charms, restorative potions, and how to fix the most catastrophic accidents without having to Floo to St. Mungo’s. class is split 50/50 between the healers of the next generation, and mischief makers that are so unhinged they have to heal themselves. this class sees all the good, the bad and the ugly
𓆩♡𓆪 — DRAGON STUDIES
learn all about the physicality, variety, and history of these dynamically unique creatures, and perhaps learn how to not get torched while studying them along the way. the course includes field trips (waivers from home and insurance spells VERY much required)
𓆩♡𓆪 — CHARMED CULINARY ARTS
enchanted cooking utensils will be your best friend as you navigate this course, learning to do everything in the kitchen from baking bread that sings to brewing drinks that bubble with magic. (house elves are assistants in this class, and you can always convince them to slip you an extra treat or two)
𓆩♡𓆪 — ADVANCED DIVINATION
tea leaves and crystal balls don’t even begin to scratch the surface of everything divination has to offer—if you’re a believer, and grounded enough to put up with the kooky professor. this course dives into obscure methods of divining the future: dream walking, cloud reading, rune casting, and much more. perfect for the more spiritually inclined students (or those who just enjoy the professor’s cryptic drama)
𓆩♡𓆪 — MAGICAL FORESICS
got a Sherlock streak, or always wondered how the aurors do it? learn how to dissect magical crime scenes, trace hex signatures, and untangle the threads of a cursed crime
𓆩♡𓆪 — MINISTRY POLITICS & MAGICAL LAW
in this course that’s absolutely not for the academically faint, you’ll find yourself taking part in debates more than any other course. debate the ethics of using Veritaserum in court, or why house-elf labor laws are a mess. these students are likely future members of the Wizengamot
𓆩♡𓆪 — ENCHANTED HOMEKEEPING
from self-sweeping brooms to magical security systems, think Martha Stewart meets The Standard Book of Spells. this course covers everything you need to know about using magic to run the most efficient household ever (you get a headache when you think about how Muggles do all of this without magic)
𓆩♡𓆪 — ALCHEMY: THE ART OF TRANSFORMARION
arguably the ultimate nerdy class—i’ve yet to meet a single person who wanted to handle the theories and coursework of this class. learn the secrets of transmutation, potion refinement, and (the whole thing’s pretty mysterious) all about the quest for immortality
𓆩♡𓆪 — SPELL CREATION THEORY
an elective created as the direct remedy for students making overeager and academically misguided attempts to make their own spells (some spells don’t exist for a reason, Fred and George.) learn the theory of how to craft spells from scratch and fine-tune them to your exact needs—perfect for the creatively chaotic. though, of course, you don’t actually make spells in class (that’s a direct ticket to St. Mungo’s)
𓆩♡𓆪 — THEORY & ETHICS OF NECROMANCY
strictly theoretical, of course (for legal reasons), this class dives into the magical theory of spirits’ existence, resurrection spells, and the history of necromancy. it also manages to cram most of one of the longest-standing debates in magical history into a year-long course (we can raise the dead, but should we? HM, i wonder)
𓆩♡𓆪 — WANDLESS MAGIC
if you’re someone who thinks ‘why bother with a wand when you are the magic?’ this course is for you—it trains you in wandless spellcasting, so you can cast even when you’ve “misplaced” your primary weapon
𓆩♡𓆪 — WIZARDING FOLKLORE
from ghostly greenhouses to the allegedly haunted halls of Hogwarts, from ancient fairy tales to horror stories that keep even the bravest wizards awake at night, this course covers all of the folklore and tall tales from centuries of wizarding history and storytelling
𓆩♡𓆪 — ENCHANTED CARTOGRAPHY
i’m sure you already know that making an enchanted map is a skill that never goes out of style (cough, Marauder’s.) in this course, learn to create enchanted maps that move, update themselves, and accurately portray secret rooms and passageways (though they might not cover the more mischievous aspects in the course, i’m sure you can figure those out on your own time)
𓆩♡𓆪 — MAGICAL ETHICS & PHILOSOPHY
all the way from time turners and truth serums to love potions and dementors, this course holds a magnifying glass to all the moral dilemmas of using magic in gray areas—just because you can hex someone doesn’t mean you should, and if you need a love potion, maybe you should reexamine some things first
𓆩♡𓆪 — QUIDDITCH ANALYTICS
a course all about the stats, spells, and tactics behind the wizarding worlds’ favorite sport. think of it as sabermetrics, but with broomsticks. students are an even split of quidditch players, and those who love quidditch without wanting to zoom hundreds of feet above the ground (understandable)
𓆩♡𓆪 — WANDLORE & CRAFTING
take your first step towards becoming the next Ollivander by studying wand woods, cores, and how to match them with their perfect witch or wizard. careful, your own wand might be open to more scrutiny than you’re accustomed to. warning: NOT a class for people with butterfingers
𓆩♡𓆪 — MOVING PHOTOGRAPHY
learn how to properly snap a good photo and develop moving pictures, charm them with special effects, and create photo albums that are magically cohesive enough to tell their own stories. with moving photos holding entire memories, someone always needs a good magical photographer
𓆩♡𓆪 — GRIMOIRE WRITING & SPELL JOURNALING
every great wizard of the past and present had a grimoire to keep track of their endless magical escapades. learn how to create your own spellbooks, safely document your findings, and make them impossible for dark wizards (or just nosy siblings) to read
𓆩♡𓆪 — MAGICAL LINGUISTICS
communication is key, whether it’s haggling with goblins, charming house-elves, or negotiating with dragons. this course helps you break through the language barrier—literally—to the entire wizarding world and all its species
𓆩♡𓆪 — MAGICAL JOURNALISM
for aspiring Rita Skeeters (hopefully no one, let’s make it ethical), this course covers investigative reporting, spell-resistant quills, following the honor code of interviewing and writing, and even some tips on how to charm the Daily Prophet editors with your work and score a job in the journalism field. NO Quick-Quotes Quills allowed, ever !!
𓆩♡𓆪 — TIME MANIPULATION THEORY
absolutely no time-turners allowed, despite learning all about them. learn the ethical and practical implications of bending time, including nearly every historical horror story of witches and wizards who got a little spin-happy with the power. (does the course only exist as a big fat warning for the students who are granted use of a time turner? we’ll never know—but yes, probably)
𓆩♡𓆪 — MUSIC & ENCHANTED COMPOSITION
a course taken by many of the choir members, which allows you to delve deep into the magic behind musical spells, how to ethically enchant instruments for killer performances, and both writing and performing magical compositions. don’t mind the frogs in class, they’re brushing up on their technique, too
𓆩♡𓆪 — SPELL COMBAT TACTICS
this course covers a mix of strategic dueling with battlefield planning, as it covers pretty much every notable magical duel and battle in history. perfect for those angling to join the Aurors, or those who are just looking to win every wizarding duel
𓆩♡𓆪 — WIZARDING THEATER
this course involves combining drama with charms to bring stories literally to life on stage. props are enchanted and can interact with the actors, the weather matches each set, and actors might just float mid-scene. students can sharpen their acting and set enchantment skills to hopefully be on one of the great wizarding stages one day (or working behind the scenes of one)
𓆩♡𓆪 — MUGGLE STUDIES: ADVANCED INTEGRATION
forget the “what’s a toaster?” training-wheels shit—this course is about truly blending wizarding ingenuity with Muggle innovation. a popular course among muggleborn students, who have the opportunity to actually use their heritage in their favor to explore a whole world of social and magical possibilities

SCRIPTING IDEAS ! ─── hogwarts clubs + extra-curriculars.
BOOK CLUB.
students read books monthly and discuss what they enjoyed, what they didn't, symbolism, deeper meanings, etc. you may script whether books are muggle or magical fiction, as well as what books will be chosen.
THEATER CLUB.
students may audition for roles in specific plays and perform in them. there may also be workshops to improve acting, singing and dancing skills. you may script that you always get lead roles or are a talented actor in addition to this. you may also script in a theater for hogwarts.
MUSIC CLUB.
students may either learn to play instruments or improve their already existing skills. projects may be given to either perform certain songs or compose music. groups may be made and bands can be formed with specific students and friends. you may script that you already know an instrument (unless you want to learn), or that you are a talented singer / songwriter.
COOKING AND BAKING CLUB.
students can learn new recipes and how to make them with and without magic. you can script that students can keep their deserts or at the end of each meeting, members get to try other's foods either for fun or to rank them.
HERBOLOGY CLUB.
students who are interested in herbology and more advanced or intricate aspects of it may join this club. they may learn about more plants and have an opportunity to earn extra credit in herbology for joining this class.
POTIONS CLUB.
students who are interested in potions and wish to explore more complicated potions may join this club. they will create potions and learn about ingredients either brushed over in the curriculum or that aren't included. they may have an opportunity to earn extra credit in potions for joining this class.
MINISTRY OF MAGIC CLUB.
similarly to what might be a united nations club, students may take roles of ministry members and learn more about the ministry in general. students joining this club may be seen as more suitable for a job in the ministry once out of hogwarts. students may also have field-trips to learn about other country's magical governments or to the ministry itself to learn exactly how it works.
LANGUAGE CLUBS.
students wishing to learn certain languages may join language learning clubs! this may be especially helpful if you are already trying to learn a language and want more practice. languages may include whatever you script them to, such as french, latin, greek, spanish, etc.
FLYING CLUB.
as only a limited number of students may join the quidditch team, younger or less talented students may join the flying club for an enjoyable and less strict take on quidditch. they may have games that are not divided by house that are less competitive.
ART CLUB.
students who enjoy more artistic activities, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and more may join this club. you may work on projects based on the medium you enjoy and receive criticism and help on your work. students may also simply come here to work on their personal projects alongside others.
STUDYING AND HOMEWORK CLUB.
students who wish to study with others or desire help on their work and assignments may join or attend this club. professors will be there to help with anyone struggling and talented students may gain extra credit by helping students with their work and studies.
here are just some clubs i've decided to include in my own dr. if you have any other ideas, feel free to suggest some and i'll do my best to add them!

You asked for promps so here ya go lol. I’d love to see Valeria in her different classes. I especially want to know what she’s good at & what she struggles with 🤣❣️
ask and I shall deliver!! 🌸 Sorry I took 15 years
Valeria excels in any class that requires magic and is more hands on, like DADA, Charms, and Transfiguration. She wields magic more on instinct than anything else so she picks it up rather quickly. It helps that she gets a lot of practice…
She probably spends the most time on potions. She does well overall (a lot of it is following directions) but has trouble understanding the ingredients and the theory behind it. She’ll often take supplementary classes with Sharp or have Garreth or Sebastian tutor her.
She’s pretty good at the other classes but she struggles with herbology and divination. She can’t grow a plant to save her life (Deek takes care of her plants). She usually partners with Sebastian since he knows what he’s doing and he doesn’t mind doing the work for both of them 🤭 Oh and divinations - she understands nothing. It makes zero sense to her and frankly, doesn’t really believe in it (ok maybe a little).
OH AND SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO MAGICAL THEORY! It’s not in her curriculum and she would be terrible at the class but she loves learning about it (mostly because her favorite professor teaches it). Valeria and Fig have their weekly yap sessions to discuss progress on the keeper trials and whatever else, and a good chunk of that is on magical theory. The other chunk is gossip time and Fig teaching her how to brew tea properly.

HOGWARTS CLASSES MASTER SCHEDULE
I've been cooking up a fanfic but before I can write a single line, I gotta have EVERYTHING figured out and because part of said fanfic is meant to take place at the castle, I decided I needed a class schedule for the entire school to use as ref.
At first, I did what any normal person would do: I googled it and lo and behold, I found a couple of fan-made schedules. The most promising one was that created by @shorm (check it out here) - the elective class system in particular looked very neat - BUT I soon realized it had one critical flaw: it required the teachers to hold multiple classes at the same time. Whether this was intentional (the schedule could work if all the teachers used time turners) or just an oversight, that schedule wouldn't work for me so I sat down and made my own.
It took me maybe a little over a week of on and off work to create this. While @shorm's work was definitely an inspiration, I made the schedule from scratch, taking some liberties to make sure that there are no overlaps. Details will be explained below.
The schedule is FREE TO USE as a reference for your fanfics. I would, however, greatly appreciate if you COULD CREDIT ME.
It's a very long post so I'm putting it all under the cut.
CLASSES OVERVIEW
CORE CLASSES
All core classes are mandatory for years 1 to 5 and optional for years 6 and 7 (based on OWL results). Each House has at least 2 classes with one of the other Houses, presumably to facilitate inter-house relations between the students. Based on this principle the 7 core classes are put into exclusionary pairs.
Potions is always 1x week: for year 1 it's 1h, for years 2-5 2h (double period). As a result DADA which is its pair (both work with GS+RH groups) is set up in the same manner.
Herbology and Charms (both work with GH + SR groups) always have 1h lessons 2x week for all years.
Transfiguration and History of Magic (both work with GR + SH groups) have 1h lessons 2x week for all years. History of Magic has an additional lesson for years 1 and 2. This is possible because History is not part of the 6-7 year curriculum.
Astronomy has 1h of theoretical class during the day 1x week and 1h of practice during the night 1x week for all years. It can often overlap with the extra lesson of HoM for years 1-2 (it also works with GR + SH groups). The practicals take place at either 11 PM, 12AM or 1AM.
Flying is only for first years, presumably to determine the students' predisposition for the Quidditch teams.
ELECTIVE CLASSES
Students can choose 2 or 3 out of 5 available classes. The schedule allows to choose max 3 classes in any combination. If you only choose 2 classes, you will have one additional free period, which one will depend on your class choice.
The elective classes can have students from all Houses. G1 and G2 refer to group 1 and 2 which are formed based on students class choice. If a lot of students make the same choices, House-based groups can be formed.
Each class has 1h lesson 2x week. CFMC, Divination, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes run 2 sessions of each of the 2 lessons to accomodate the two groups. Muggle Studies runs only 1 session of each of the 2 lessons, presumably because it's a less popular class and a second session is not required to allow for any 2-3 class combination.
MASTER SCHEDULE YEARS 1-5
Year 1 always starts from second period (9.30) and have a free Friday afternoon. Year 2 starts from first period (8.00) or second period (9.30) depending on the day and also have free Friday afternoons. All houses have Astronomy Practical on a day that would allow them to sleep in the next morning to compensate.
Years 3 to 5 start on either first or second period, depending on the day, and also have classes on fifth period (during which year 1 had flying lessons) to accommodate the elective classes. The numbers 1 and 2 next to the class choice refer to lesson 1 and lesson 2 of the same class (see teachers schedules below).
STUDENTS' SCHEDULES YEARS 1-5
The following schedules are transposed from the Master Schedule above.
The schedules for years 1 and 2 appear a bit empty, but this is due to a lack of teachers' availability. At most, you could have an additional Potions and/or DADA lesson on period 3 on Wed/Thu.
The schedules for years 3-5 assume a student follows 3 elective classes. If they follow 2, then in place of a 3rd class, they will have a free period.
STUDENTS' SCHEDULE YEARS 6-7
6 and 7 year students will only attend the classes they qualify for based on their intended career path and OWL results. Each class is scheduled 2x week in a different time slot to allow for a student to follow any class combination.
TEACHERS' SCHEDULES
The following schedules are transposed from the 1-5 years master schedule and the 6-7 years schedule above.
CORE CLASSES TEACHERS
The numbers in the slots refer to the year and the letters refer to the House. So for ex. 1 GS = 1st years Gryffindor + Slytherin. 6 and 7 years are always a mix of all Houses.
Potions and DADA, which are paired up (they teach the same House combinations GS or RH), always have 2h lessons scheduled for either period 1-2 or period 4-5. This way the students can either start later (8.30 instead of 8) or leave earlier (16 instead of 16.30). Year 1 has 1h lessons because no more consecutive periods are available. This way, both Potions and DADA teachers have 3 days where they have a free period before lunch. If you wanted, you could use it to have year 1 have a second 1h DADA and/or 1h Potions class on Wed/Thu, leaving the teachers with only a single free period like all the other teachers.
Astronomy has 3 nighttime slots between 11 PM and 2AM to accommodate students from all years. Years 1 and 2, being the youngest, will always have the earliest slot. Years 3 to 5 take either the second or third slot based on whether they have classes on period 1. Years 6 and 7 always have the late slot. Astronomy teacher has no classes on period 1 except for the theoretical for years 6 and 7 which always falls on a day after a night where she was teaching no class (Sunday and Thursday) allowing her to sleep through the night and wake up early.
ELECTIVE CLASSES TEACHERS
The numbers in the slots refer to the year. Les 1 and 2 refer to Lesson 1 and 2. Gr 1 and 2 refer to group 1 and 2 (which can have students from all houses based on their choice of subjects).
6 and 7 years are always a mix of all Houses. The lesson earlier in the week will be the first one and the one later in the week will be the second one.
Elective classes teachers have 9 free periods they could use - if necessary - to schedule an additional session of either lesson 1 or 2, based on students' availability. This, however, is unnecessary if students choose no more than 3 classes. An additional session would not be scheduled for a single student that decided they want to follow 4 or 5 classes.
Muggle Studies teacher has 15 free periods as they have only 1 session for lesson 1 and 2 for each year. A second session is not necessary unless a large number of students (more than half) signed up for the subject. In that case, they would be split into two groups based on their other class choices and availability, and up to 6 of those 15 available slots would be used to schedule additional sessions (see "Additional Availability" table above to determine when for which year).
If we don't make any modifications and leave MS with 1 lesson 1 and 1 lesson 2 and the other classes with 2 lessons 1 and 2 lessons 2, each student will be able to follow either one of the below class combinations:
EASY MODIFICATIONS
Since the core classes are set in pairs, you can swap them to better suit your needs.
To give an example: I have Potions set for year 1 RH on Monday period 3. Meanwhile GS has DADA. Then I have Potions for year 1 GS on Friday period 3. Meanwhile RH has DADA. If for some reason you need year 1 GS to have Potions on Monday, all you have to do is swap these two slots around.
You can also swap the electives around. The elective class slots in the master are better left where they are but you can easily swap the classes available for each slot. You will only need to reference both the electives table and additional availability table to determine which classes are available for each slot and set them up in three blocks of three classes each just like I did. You only have to make sure that each class except one appears twice for each three-block set. The single class doesn't gave to be MS. If in your story a lot of students take MS but few take CMC, you can rearrange the classes so that CMC only appears once.
Any changes you make will obviously need to be transposed to the relevant student and teachers schedules.

The House Cup
Ominis x MC
Summary - The night before The House Cup ceremony, unforeseen circumstances for Ominis and Evelyn back together
I was thinking about the first time Eve and Omi would have slept together. And then I spiralled into a deep sadness that I shall never recover from.
Warnings - Vague depictions of a panic attack, Omi’s past, Nightmares, ANGST OUT THE WAZZOO
Word Count - 4016
~
Everything had become…so exhausting.
Maybe it was her own fault. She had taken on so much voluntarily as well as the whole Keepers, Trails, Ancient Magic…thing.
After Evelyn and Ominis had snatched the relic and Spellbook from Sebastian, they fled, now stuck with two artefacts of immense power they had no hopes of destroying.
Evelyn was in two minds. That relic could help Anne. Could do good. But with Sebastian being the only one with the relevant research and willingness to participate in its ‘Dark Rituals’…it wasn’t an option.
Evelyn barely understood the magic she had, never mind learning an entirely new field of dark magic on top of the ancient magic the was researching practically alone.
Ominis would never participate in such Magic. He remained unwavering in his views despite Sebastian’s constant arguments and nagging ensuring ‘he knew what he was doing’.
Tossing the items into the Room of Requirement seemed the only way.
Anne remained cursed.
Ominis and Evelyn had betrayed their best friend.
Sebastian had ran.
And that act, combined with the sudden flare of goblin activity and movement of Rookwood and Ranrok had created a rift between Ominis and her.
They hadn’t spoken in weeks.
In those weeks, She had unknowingly murdered Rookwood, saved Hogwarts from collapse, maintained an ancient repository and lost…everyone.
Sebastian had been the first. He’d stayed with Anne after they all coerced him into abandoning his fruitless campaign to help Anne. And by the morning, he was gone. No note. No goodbye. Nothing.
Then came Anne. Days went by without Solomon returning from the market and with her curse getting worse and worse, everyone decided it was best to hide her away. From prying eyes and from Sebastian’s potential return. Her anger towards the only family she had left, had turned her into more of a shell than before. And so they bundled her off to Evelyn’s muggle home, so no one knew where she was, and no one could disturb her. Except Ominis…
Then he left too. He had kept himself busy, Evelyn assumed to keep the reality of everything from setting in. But it meant he had no time for her. After classes he’d immediately go to Anne, help her with whatever she needed and come back to Hogwarts, usually with just enough time to squeeze in some sleep and start the process over.
And of course, Fig. His support during all of this has been fundamental to Evelyn’s sanity. If she had not had him…she would’ve lost her mind months ago. And for him to die so…unceremoniously…her heart broke into a thousand tiny pieces. The sight of him clutching his wife’s wand to his chest would forever be seared into her brain.
“You’re in my spot…” a familiar posh and proper voice sounded from behind her. The barest attempt at humour in his tone.
And she was too exhausted to even react. So his words just fell upon deaf ears, but the words left his mouth with an unsavoury taste. Ominis flinched at her lack of reaction. If his wand hadn’t told him she was stood there, and he couldn’t hear the slow beat of her heart, he would think perhaps he’d made a mistake and she wasn’t there.
But she was…
She just stared out into the water, watching the streams of bubbles stream up around the windows. It seemed fitting he would find her here, where she first met him.
“Evelyn…” Ominis added, his voice even softer and lower with the first utterance of her name.
“Hmm…” Evelyn muttered as though he’d woken her from a trance. She turned to him, offering a polite smile she quickly realised he couldn’t see. Surely it hadn’t been so long she’d forgotten he was blind? The thought itself caused a lump to rise in her throat and she turned back away, unable to stand looking at the stranger in front of her.
It wasn’t an entirely harsh assessment. He looked nothing like the person she met at the beginning of the year.
The circles under his eyes were much darker than before. They always lingered but now they looked more like bruises than normal. As he approached her, she noticed he was in his pyjamas, a dark green robe pulled around him. And though she’d never seen him in his night attire before, she could tell even that wasn’t its norm. It was crumpled and creased, like he’d been tossing and turning.
“Can’t sleep?” He asked softly, taking a step closer to her in the alcove.
“Not really…” she replied flatly, absolutely no emotion in her tone, whatsoever.
“Me neither…” she saw from the corner of her eye, his tentative step to her side and she immediately craved his attention. His embrace. His warmth.
Her arm twitched towards him as though she wasn’t in control of her own body, and so she wrapped her arms around herself. In both restraint and comfort.
“Evelyn…” Ominis started, his tone soft and heavy. She turned slightly in his direction, keeping her head low still unwilling to address the distance that was now between them. “I know we had a bit…of a rocky start…” Ominis went silent again. He gazed off ahead, visibly thinking about what he was going to say.
Then she laughed, exhaling humourlessly “Mountainous…”
“It did have its peaks and valleys…” Ominis smiled lopsidedly
“The peaks were good though…” she muttered quietly, thinking back over her first year at Hogwarts.
It had been…awful. As a whole. But the person behind her and supporting her at every single low…was Ominis.
Ominis turned his head towards her and lifted his head so his eyes were no longer facing forward. His brow raised, and his lips curved upwards.
“I couldn’t agree more.”
A silence fell over the two of them as they occupied the alcove together. It wasn’t at all awkward like she assumed it would be. His presence, as it always had been, was calming and soothing. And she found herself leaning towards him.
His wand must have informed him of the not-so-subtle movement and his arm snaked around her shoulders, bringing her into the crook of his arm.
Their routine fell quickly back into place and she nuzzled into his chest, both of them finding the comfort the past few weeks had denied them.
She turned into him, sighing “Have…” she started before cutting herself off. Perhaps now wasn’t the time…
Ominis turned his head down towards her, smoothing the hair of her head down to rest his chin upon it. “…Have?” He prompted, noticing her trail off.
“Have you heard from Sebastian?” She asked quietly, aware that bringing him up could cause the rift to open back up between them.
“No…” he said, his voice sounding a little more harsh than it had been before, his arm tightening around her.
He hadn’t meant it as brutal as it came out, his own selfish worries muddying his tone.
He’d spent every summer whilst attending Hogwarts, at the Sallow residence. And with Anne now living with Evelyn and Sebastian absent, he would have no choice but to go back home.
He couldn’t ask Evelyn. She had enough with taking care of Anne. It would be beyond selfish to inflict himself upon her too. But every fibre of his being called out to stay with her. Anything but go back…
Back home to the family who neglected and left him to his own devices.
Back home to the parents that would’ve no doubt heard about this years antics.
Back to a house he had to call home.
His fingers dug into the flesh of Eves arm as his stomach dropped. His arms brought her closer to his chest, the pressure around her becoming less comforting and more…possessive.
“You’re worried about Sebastian…” she stated, unknowing just how wrong she was. He did care for his friend, he did.
But that family…
That house…
He felt a throbbing in his head. A reminder of the lack of sleep he now suffered, thinking about going back there. The nightmares that plagued his sleep each night since the realisation he had to return.
“Yes…” he lied, the guilt eating at him.
“We’ll find him.” She mumbled and pulled away from him slightly. He felt her breath against his chin, indicating she was looking up at him.
She was so small. So vulnerable. So why did he want her to save him?
“Come on…let’s try and get some sleep”
“No!” He barked releasing her completely and taking a step back. “No…no I can’t…” he spoke with a slightly more level tone, though the panic was clear.
“Are you- Ominis…are you okay?” She asked softly. He would tell her right? Their friendship hadn’t devolved that much, had it?
But as he stammered and stumbled over his words, his breath becoming ragged and heavy, she realised…it had.
“You can still talk to me…Ominis” she said quietly “I know a lot has happened this year but-“
“It’s not…” his eyes screwed up as though he were seeing something he wanted to get rid of. Wanted to push deep down. He sighed heavily “…it’s not you. I…Has Sebastian ever told you about the nightmares I used to have?”
“No…are they back?” Immediately she was back at his side, a comforting hand at his elbow and a sympathetic tone.
Ominis simply chuckled…
“I’m surprised he didn’t tell you. Told you everything else about me” a dry almost bitter smirk pulled at his lips before it instantly faded.
He shouldn’t mock a ‘friend’ whose current absense was partially his fault.
“…they are. I’ve been…struggling to sleep again” his head lowered slightly in shame “Sebastian, he…he was a great help back in first year…”
Evelyn hadn’t seen Ominis like this before. She’d seen him angry, disappointed, happy. She’d even seen him sad but this was…different. There was a wistful way about him, like he reminiscing but it…hurt him. He choked out a laugh and shook his head.
“I shouldn’t keep you…if you want to sleep then you shoul-“
“What did he do?” She interrupted, grabbing his elbow as he tried to move away from her. “To help you…What did Sebastian do?”
“Nothing. He would just…be there. Any time I woke up, screaming, sweating…his voice was the first I’d hear. If it even got that far…” Ominis laughed as a memory resurfaced “…sometimes he said he could hear when I was in a nightmare. He used to stay up reading late even before Anne was cursed so if he heard it before I woke up, he’d climb into bed with me and just…lay there. Bit of a shock the first time but…”
That same wistful sadness took over his features again.
“…It was grounding. Having a presence there.” Ominis concluded with a sigh.
There was a silence between them that stretched in for eternity whilst Evelyn contemplated saying what she wanted to…
“I could stay with you…if you think that would help” she offered delicately.
“I can’t ask that of you. I-it would be improper…” Ominis fumbled over his words. Thoughts of Evelyn replacing Sebastian in his mind sent him reeling.
Her body laying next to him.
Her heat warming his side.
Her fingers tapping gently on his shoulder.
“If you’re worried about my virtue, you needn’t…” she laughed softly “…I simply meant you could sleep on one of the sofas, I’ll sleep on the floor. And if you need me, then I’m right there…”
Ominis couldn’t believe his ears. How easily she had agreed to this, she would definitely house him over the summer. He just had to ask…
…but he couldn’t. That was selfish and she had enough to deal with.
He’d personally cared for Anne over the past few weeks. He knew how difficult it was, mainly due to How she would be doing it alone. Because there is no way once his mother had her claws in him she would let him go before term starts again.
He gulped once more…
“We could try…though I will sleep on the floor” Ominis bargained, a charming smile tugging at his lips, lopsided and definitely tinged with apprehension.
“Always the gentleman…” her voice was accompanied by a gentle hand on his chest. Her touch equally as soft as her voice. He could feel it lulling him to sleep even now, stood perfectly upright in the cold alcoved window. Her hand drifted away and he felt her move towards the couches a little further into the Common Room. The sounds of blankets softly thumping to the ground and pillows being plumped filled his ears, along with the steady snap and crackle of the ever-burning fire.
“Not all the time…” he smirked, settling into the little nest she had built for him. As he sat, padding and preening at the surprisingly comfortable floor he could feel her inches away, doing the exact same on the hard cushioned sofa. “But for you? Always”
Evelyn tried to suppress the blush she felt in her cheeks, failing miserably. Not that it mattered, he couldn’t see it anyway. But he chuckled like he could…
“Goodnight, Ominis” she whispered, propped up on her arms, watching as he lay back against the cushions and ‘stared’ up at the ceiling, unblinking.
“I’m right here…” she added, allowing her arm to fall out of the blankets she’d tucked around herself. Her hand found his and give him a single squeeze.
She’d planned to leave it at that. A simple gesture that she wasn’t going anywhere.
But his knuckled turned white as he return the gesture.
And the pressure steadily increased around her fingers. Until she ran her thumb along the back of his hand. Then it stilled.
“Goodnight…Evie”
-
Evelyn fell asleep relatively quickly, his hand becoming a comforting gesture after the initial possessive grasp.
Ominis, however, lay in silence and darkness. Terrified of what awaited him when his body eventually succumbed to fatigue.
He’d released her hand quite a few minutes ago. A decision he’d made hastily when he heard her whimper softly in her sleep and her hand twitched back towards her body.
He regretted that decision.
Because though he could hear her steady breathing above him…it wasn’t enough. He’s grown far too accustomed to her touch and he’d gone without it for weeks now.
With a heavy sigh, he sat up…
…and was immediately greeted with her hand hovering static above him,
Her fingers brushed against his face as he collided with it. He was startled for a second. Till he smelt the rose perfume upon her wrist, faint and worn with the late hour. But unmistakably…her
Those same finger twitched against his cheek as she woke with a start.
“You okay?” She muttered somewhat breathless and sleepily.
“Yes…” he exhaled “…I was just trying to get more comfortable”
“Hmmm” - was all she replied with, her hand finding his again as he continued to sit up.
This was better. They were the same level.
He just needed her…closer.
So he sat up, wrapped the blanket around his legs and leant against the arm of the couch. The same arm that, Evelyn rest her head upon. He could feel her warm breath against his neck as she slipped easily back into her slumber. If he turned his head slightly, the tiny sighs that left her ghosted his cheek.
And that consistent soothing flow and her warm fingers tangled with his was enough to tip him over the edge.
His eyes grew too heavy to fight against.
And he found himself confronted with…dreamless sleep.
-
The next day brought the end of year. And with it, The House Cup ceremony.
There was a distinct air of misery as everyone filtered into the Great Hall.
With Evelyn and Ominis sleeping side by side, they spent the morning together, neither willing or wanting to be alone.
So when they took their seat with the other fifth years on Slytherins table, the tension was palpable. Further down the table the first years chatted happily, discussing who gained the most points for the House and if it would be enough for them to win.
In stark contrast, where they were sat was sombre.
Obviously, Ominis and Evelyn were miserable. That was almost a given with these last few months.
But Imelda also sat stoic and unsmiling. She’d gotten quite close with Evelyn, sharing a dorm with her, the time trials, listening to her problems. And despite what many would say about Imelda, she was surprisingly empathic. Not in the usual way of caring and consideration. Instead she got angry for Evelyn.
She didn’t know the full extent of Sebastian’s absence, just that it’s hurt Evelyn exponentially, at a time when she least needed it. And it wasn’t like her and Sebastian were completely strangers. In third year, he was positively ecstatic about Quidditch. They’d bonded over their shared enthusiasm for the sport and gotten close.
But as with everything else, Anne’s curse made it all come crumbling down.
So if Imelda wasn’t having a good time…no one was.
The potent mix of Ominis’ blank expressionless stare and Imelda’s fury meant no fun was to be had at the Slytherin table.
That was only further reinforced when the illustrious Headmaster decided to address everyone.
“This year we have seen our students exemplify the bravery of Godric Gryffindor-“
A chorus of cheers and hollers cut the Headmaster off before he even had the chance to start. Above them all, Evelyn could hear Garreth shouting over everyone else. His enthusiasm bought a reluctant smile to her face and when she looked over the far table, she saw him stood, banging the table in jubilation. Professor Weasley shook her head, but a distinct amused smirk graced her lips.
“Allow me to finish!” The Headmaster snapped, though the cheers didn’t die down. They only grew worse as each house joined from their respective founder…
“- The Loyalty of Helga Hufflepuff - ”
A chorus of cheers from the Hufflepuffs added to the Gryffindors.
“- The Wisdom of Rowena Ravenclaw - ”
A respectful cluster of claps joined the other two
“- and The Ambition of Salazar Slytherin - ”
…and nothing. Though the boastful tone Headmaster Black took on carried the pride of the entirity of Slytherin. A small group of first year clapped excitedly. But no one else did. The collective misery of the table spreading quickly.
And Evelyn saw Ominis tense up, just in front of him. He turned himself away from the pedestal, Evelyn just catching the way his eyes rolled in exasperation.
“And so the winner of this years’s house cup…” The pride in the Headmasters voice already strongly suggested who the winner was…
“Excuse me, Headmaster” Professor Weasley interrupted, earning a derisory sneer from Black. “If I may: one particular students heroism during the attack in Hogwarts, not to mention the level to which they have excelled in their coursework, as a new student no less-“
Evelyn could feel eyes on her from all around her, boring into the back of her head. She instinctively leaned towards Ominis, hoping his natural ability to repel unwanted attention would extend to her.
It didn’t…
“Well it would seem that it certainly merits, I’d say, 100 points to their house? - wouldn’t you agree?”
“Ah. Yes, thank you, Professor Weasley”
“I suppose we have our winner” Black announced heartily as the banners above them fluttered to a deep emerald green.
And despite the other houses losing, they all cheered…for her.
Garreth was the first at her side, his hands wrapping around her waist and hoisting her off the bench. He squeezed, tickling her side slightly, earning a forced giggled from deep in her chest.
Poppy was next. Her hands clasped Evelyn’s forearms and she spun them around before embracing her.
Then Amit, and Natty, then Lucan and soon the other tables were empty and the Slytherins were engulfed by every other student.
In the busy hubbub, Evelyn had lost her bearings. She turned to find Ominis, to celebrate, to ground herself, to have an excuse to leave.
But he was gone. Seat empty and no sign of him at all.
It was only when she spun around in desperation did she see the slightly messier than usual mop of blonde hair leaving the Great Hall.
She made her excuses to those who clung to her, but mostly she just pushed through the crowd.
She had to see him.
-
From a distance everything seemed fine.
Ominis, for once, stood tall between the giant House hourglasses.
It was only as Evelyn got closer could she hear the irregular and ragged breath that left him in short sharp bursts.
“Ominis…” she called softly
“Sebastian is the poster child for Slytherin” he snapped seemingly out of no where
“Ambition. Pride…that was his downfall. And they’re celebrating it” he whipped around quickly gesturing wildly in the direction of the Great Hall. His chest heaved wildly. She’d only ever seen him like this when they confronted Sebastian.
“It’s okay…” Evelyn soothed “…they’re just children. They don’t know what they’re celebrating”
“It’s Black!” Ominis shouted “You heard how he delighted at the notion of Slytherin winning. The Pride in his voice.”
Ominis scoffed and began pacing along the hourglasses, his hands shaking.
“You are so loved…” he breathed, coming to a stop once more in front of her “…More so than anyone else in Hogwarts. And I’m happy for you…”
“But…” she finished for him, a single laugh leaving his lips as he shook his head.
“…It just feels as though…anything Slytherin touches…gets ruined. Except you. And I’m terrified that the thing that will ruin you…is just…waiting…”
She was such a positive force for good.
A Muggle-Born Slytherin.
Not prideful or boastful. Just cunning and quick, using those things for good, not the continuation of generation long prejudices.
She was good.
And he didn’t want her spoiled.
What if she was?
What if it was him?
He spiralled, the only thing he could hear and focus on was his own ragged breath in his ears.
Until her tiny delicate hand reached his chest, his heartbeat thundering against her fingertips.
“Shhhh…” Evelyn hummed “…you’re good. And I have you…”
“I am not good, Evelyn. That blood…it sits within me waiting. I’ve done awful things and sometimes it feels like it’s only a matter of time”
Evelyn’s jaw tightened and her brows furrowed. Though he can’t see the anger he has caused in her, he would certainly feel it.
She gripped his face, possibly harsher than she should have and forced him towards her. After she stared into his sightless translucent eyes she realised the action was fruitless. He couldn’t see how adamant she was. But he would feel it.
“You. Are. Good” she muttered through her teeth.
It’s like she knew he was going back to his family. She didn’t. He hadn’t told her. She had enough to deal with…
“Evelyn…” he started
“No!” She released his face with a huff, and smacked his chest with an open palm “No. You are good. You have helped me so much this year…you have done so much, you…”
She sighed.
His face remained unchanging whilst he listened to her pleas. And though he didn’t believe what she said her conviction broke through to him and he found the weight on his chest alleviate slightly.
“Can we…please…” her tone was pleading as she continued to beg, her forehead pressed to his chest “…please…just have one last day like it used to be? Before I have to go back to a home that has no magic”
He couldn’t do this.
There was no way he could go six weeks without her. No contact at all.
Let me help you
Let me stay
Let me be another burden
He swallowed down every thought that rose into his mind, his throat bobbing as he gulped.
“Of course we can” Ominis whispered into her hair, his arms wrapping around her middle and pulling her tightly to him.
Maybe he could stay like this.
And just never let her go.

— A STUDENT’S GUIDE TO HOGWARTS CLASSES

˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦ ˚ . ★⋆. ࿐࿔
FOR EVERY CLASS . always sit where you can see (or avoid) the professor’s mood swings. bring a spare quill, and for Merlin’s sake, read all instructions on the board
★⋆. ASTRONOMY
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR SINESTRA . she’s chill if you stay quiet. don’t interrupt her passionate stargazing rants, or she’ll assign extra homework on constellations literally no one’s ever heard of
HOMEWORK . star charts and essays on planetary motion. tedious but straightforward—accuracy is everything.
TIPS TO EXCEL . memorize constellations and learn how to cast Lumos just dim enough so that you don’t blind everyone during late-night pitch black lessons
EXTRA CREDIT . spot and track a rare celestial event, like a comet. (bonus points if you can pronounce its Latin name to Sinestra without choking)
AVOID MISHAPS . never mix up Mars and Mercury on your chart—you’ll be doomed in astronomy and divination
★⋆. CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR HAGRID . show genuine interest in his creatures, even if they look like they could eat you (because they definitely could)
HOMEWORK . research magical creature habits and write about their care. watch out—he loves long essays (he can basically make students write books about his favorite subject for him)
TIPS TO EXCEL . always wear dragonhide gloves and boots that cover your ankles. treat the creatures and Hagrid with respect—he’ll notice
EXTRA CREDIT . help feed or clean up after the creatures during your free periods or after class. it’s messy, but he appreciates it immeasurably
AVOID MISHAPS . never, ever call a Blast-Ended Skrewt “gross” within his earshot
★⋆. CHARMS
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR FLITWICK . he’s sweet but sharp. pay attention, or you’ll be called on mid-yawn to demonstrate something tricky.
HOMEWORK . practice spells at home. if your wandwork looks like you’re conducting a dance recital, you’re doing it wrong.
TIPS TO EXCEL . focus on precise wand movements and pronunciation—no “swish and flick” means no charm
EXTRA CREDIT . perform an original charm in class and explain how you invented it (hint: slap a name on something flashy, and ramble about how Flitwick’s class gave you the “tools to do it”)
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t use charms on your classmates (no matter how obnoxious they are) unless you want detention for “unsanctioned spellcasting”
★⋆. DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS
DEALING WITH THE PROFESSOR . varies wildly year to year. if they’re twitchy, don’t ask questions. if they’re confident, challenge them slightly—they love it
HOMEWORK . spell practice, theoretical essays on defensive strategies, and (sometimes) practical exams.
TIPS TO EXCEL . master shield charms early—Protego is your bread and butter. always watch your back in “surprise” practical tests (the surprise could be a curse aimed at your back)
EXTRA CREDIT . propose new defense tactics for obscure threats like Lethifolds or hinkypunks, it shows interest in the less ‘cool’ aspects of the dark arts
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t hex yourself in class while demonstrating a jinx. you won’t get in trouble. but it’s embarrassing.
★⋆. DIVINATION
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR TRELAWNEY . just nod and act fascinated. she’s happier when you look like you believe her
HOMEWORK . dream journals, tea-leaf sketches, and guesses at what the stars are “telling” you.
TIPS TO EXCEL . make up dramatic predictions that sound poetic. extra marks for impending doom towards a classmate
EXTRA CREDIT . spot a “true vision” (or just pretend you did). a fainting act doesn’t hurt
AVOID MISHAPS . never laugh at her predictions, even if they sound ridiculous—she’ll doom you for life (and you never know what fate holds)
★⋆. HERBOLOGY
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR SPROUT . show some love for plants, and she’ll adore you. don’t sass her or underestimate how dangerous some herbs are
HOMEWORK . care guides for magical plants, essays on uses for their parts, and detailed sketches
TIPS TO EXCEL . be gentle with the plants, even the ones with attitudes. also, if you’re prone to daydreaming, please keep a note of which vines bite
EXTRA CREDIT . cultivate a rare magical plant and present its uses in class (good luck)
AVOID MISHAPS . always wear gloves when handling anything spiky, slimy, or screaming
★⋆. HISTORY OF MAGIC
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR BINS . he doesn’t even care if you’re awake, but it helps if you look like you’re taking notes
HOMEWORK . endless essays on goblin rebellions, giant wars, and other events you’ll most definitely forget by next term
TIPS TO EXCEL . use mnemonic devices to remember key dates. start essays early—he grades on length
EXTRA CREDIT . find obscure historical details to add to essays. mentioning “primary sources” makes you look smart, and Binns doesn’t typically look into it further
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t doodle in your notes too obviously—he might drone on even more if he catches you
★⋆. POTIONS
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR SNAPE . know your ingredients and don’t speak unless spoken to. follow his instructions perfectly and try to look invisible. or he’ll eviscerate you
HOMEWORK . brewing practice and essays on potion theory. if you mess up the potion, he’ll expect twice the length in your essay
TIPS TO EXCEL . re-chop your ingredients before class, and try to do other prep work. Snape hates inefficiency
EXTRA CREDIT . create a new potion under his supervision. (warning: he will make you test it.)
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t ever blame Snape or his instructions if something explodes. just accept it and clean up quietly
★⋆. TRANSFIGURATION
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL . she’s strict but fair. do your work well, and she’ll respect you; slack off, and she’ll make you wish you hadn’t
HOMEWORK . spell diagrams, written explanations, and frequent wandwork practice
TIPS TO EXCEL . precision and focus are key. get creative, but don’t try anything too wild without permission
EXTRA CREDIT . demonstrate a flawless human-to-animal transfiguration (with her approval)
AVOID MISHAPS . never let your transfigured objects escape—chasing a hopping teacup through the halls is not fun, and you’ll never hear the end of it
★⋆. ARITHMANCY
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR VECTOR . she’s sharp and no-nonsense, but she’s got a soft spot for students who genuinely try. don’t show up without your charts; she’ll notice
HOMEWORK . endless numerical equations and analysis of magical patterns. expect to translate runes into numbers and vice versa
TIPS TO EXCEL . understand how numbers relate to magic—this isn’t just math, it’s magic theory in disguise. double-check your work; one wrong digit can tank your entire assignment
EXTRA CREDIT . present a new numerological correlation, like how the number “7” might affect potion brewing. bonus if it’s creative but realistic
AVOID MISHAPS . never guess at a solution—Professor Vector will spot laziness in seconds. keep your workspace neat, or the equations will haunt you
★⋆. ANCIENT RUNES
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR BABBLING . she’s patient and incredibly smart, but don’t come to class unprepared. misreading a rune will make her launch into a lecture about “respecting the symbols.”
HOMEWORK . translate ancient texts, decipher rune sequences, and write essays on magical etymology. sometimes includes carving your own runes for practice.
TIPS TO EXCEL . memorize the rune meanings and their magical properties—flashcards help. pay attention to detail; even a tiny line can change the meaning of a rune
EXTRA CREDIT . create your own rune sequence that produces a magical effect and explain its purpose. creative runework always gets top marks
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t mix up Nordic and Celtic runes—they have very different contexts, and Professor Babbling will lecture you for days
★⋆. MUGGLE STUDIES
DEALING WITH PROFESSOR BURBAGE . she’s enthusiastic and loves students who ask questions, even obvious ones. if you show respect for Muggle ingenuity, you’re golden
HOMEWORK . research papers on Muggle inventions and their impact, as well as practical exercises like identifying Muggle objects
TIPS TO EXCEL . don’t overthink it—Muggles live without magic, but they’re surprisingly clever. show curiosity and avoid using the word “primitive”
EXTRA CREDIT . present a Muggle artifact and explain how it works. bonus points if you demonstrate something functional, like a can opener or a bicycle pump
AVOID MISHAPS . don’t call electricity “the Muggle version of Lumos” unless you want a 10-minute tangent about how they’re completely different
★⋆. FLYING
DEALING WITH MADAM HOOCH . she’s strict but fair; listen to her instructions, and she’ll let you have some fun. mess around, and you’ll be grounded faster than you can say “Quidditch”
HOMEWORK . practicing broom control outside of class and writing essays about famous flyers or the mechanics of flight
TIPS TO EXCEL . focus on balance and broom grip—this isn’t about speed (yet). always stretch before class; cramps mid-air are embarrassing and painful
EXTRA CREDIT . show off advanced flying techniques, like tight turns or broom dives (but only if you’re really confident). bonus for clean landings
AVOID MISHAPS . never try to show off in front of the first-years—wobbling on a loop-the-loop is not a good look. keep your broom maintained; a splintered handle spells disaster.
[ there you have it—follow this guide, and you’ll not only pass these classes with flying colors, but you might even look like you know what you’re doing while you’re at it, and maybe you’ll avoid getting hexed by Snape. we’ll see ]

classes i take in my marauders DR ⋆。𖦹°‧
cores {subjects everyone has to take}
✩ transfiguration
commonly known as one of the hardest ordinary wizarding levels, transfiguration is a subject where the mage changes the form or appearance of an object, animal or person. In my year at Hogwarts, the top three (3) students in the year for transfiguration are: James Potter, Amelia Bones and Remus Lupin.
Transfiguration is taught by Professor McGonagall. Professor McGonagall is the strictest but kindest professor in the school. She is definitely the kind to play favourites, but being head of Gryffindor means she likes me and my friend group- plus we all genuinely enjoy her subject (even James & Sirius don't mess around).
✩charms
charms is the most popular subject in the school, with around 70% of students carrying it on past OWLs to NEWTs. Even though it is known for being easier than transfiguration, it is still one of the most tricky and well respected subjects Hogwarts offer, and most careers require at least an 'acceptable' at OWL level. The top three (3) students in the year for charms are: Remus Lupin, Lily Evans and Lola Lupin.
Charms is taught by Professor Flitwick. Personally, professor Flitwick is my favourite Hogwarts Professor, as a head of house he is always available for talking outside of charms about any problems and is genuinely my favourite to stop and chat with in the corridor. In lessons, people tend to not listen to him as he is quite lenient and doesn't lose his temper frequently.
✩potions
potions is another very well respected subject, and is one usually people love or hate. At its core personally I don't find it too difficult as long as you make sure to follow all the instructions exactly though I don't have a natural flare for the subject or instinct to add extra ingredients. The top three (3) students in the year for potions are: Severus Snape, Lily Evans and Dorcas Meadowes.
Potions is taught by professor Slughorn, a teacher only interested in the "greats" of the class and ignores everyone else. Personally I do not like him, I think he's self centered and an average teacher but I do see why some like him. He loves Lily and Dorcas for their natural inclination but loves Sirius and James due to only their families, like??
✩history of magic
in my opinion, this is the most misunderstood subject in hogwarts!! It is the most interest subject EVER with the most boring lessons. Me and Remus both love this subject as our mum used to read us books on Goblin rebellions and past Wizarding Wars and so had a love for it before the lessons could change our minds. The top three (3) students in the year for History of Magic are: Caradoc Dearborn, Lola Lupin and Remus Lupin (one of the only subjects where I beat my brother LMAO)
History of Magic is taught by professor Binns, who is the reason so many people hate the subject. LITERALLY HOW CAN THIS MAN MAKE EPIC BATTLES SO DULL?? Like pls someone replace him IMMEDIATELY. Everyone talks through his lessons and he doesn't know anyone's name 😭😭😭
✩defence against the dark arts
a subject all the younger years want to get properly into, but for me personally it is wayy too hyped. Like not many careers need it and it's very theory based for the actual exam. Personally I think they should add some coursework (maybe creating a defensive spell??) The top three (3) students in my year for DADA are: Remus Lupin, Dorcas Meadowes and tied 3rd - Sirius Black and Hestia Jones.
the teacher for this I KID YOU NOT changes every single year. Right now it is Professor Donaldson (most NPC ahh professor), but we have had a couple of really good ones and I'm pretty sure Flitwick takes the 7th year class.
✩astronomy
this is a staple at Hogwarts, and a subject they have always taught (for good reason), but I think everyone learns it differently so there are many different opinions about it. Personally, love doesn't encompass how I feel about astronomy. It is my all time favourite subject, favourite classroom and ughh I just love waking up at midnight to go up and check the planets. The top three (3) students in my year are: Lola Lupin, aurora sinestra, and remus lupin (finally top of the year in something) .
Astronomy is taught by the lovely professor Lepaute, who is an old french woman and has a very kind and quiet teaching style. In our lessons she lets us get on with it and works her way round the classroom, helping individual students one to one. She is also the person to be genuinely so in love with passing her love of her subject onto us. She taught at Beauxbatons for most of her life and came to the Scotland for a more peaceful life (not sure if she found it here 😓)
✩herbology
Many I know are unsure why it is compulsory, yet enjoy it. A very useful subject for very hands on jobs such as Healers. Personally I enjoy it yet don't put much effort into it- but everyone I know that enjoys Herbology is a really sweet person so maybe that says something? The top 3 in my year at Herbology are: Peter Pettigrew, Benjy Fenwick and Lily Evans.
Professor Sprout, who teaches herbology, is really funny and makes the lessons nice- also decorates the greenhouses. I also have never seen her play favourites - and seems to like everyone but also controls my class pretty well. She's head of Hufflepuff so exactly how you imagine.
[all of these i will expand on in later posts]
electives {subjects you chose in 3rd year}
ancient runes
arithmancy
divination
music
wizard politics
clubs {after school commitments you do not get qualifications for}
gryffindor book club
frog choir
* I have used the word mage to mean any person who wields magic. I know wizard and witch are not technically gendered but they feel gendered, and non binary / non gender confirming people deserve a place too.<3

─ 𝓘NTRODUCING MY ⋆ MARAUDERS DR.
𝓢. this dr is set in the 70s, and begins during my first year at hogwarts. it strays quite far from the actual events of the marauders era, and instead merges with the plot of the lighting era. in this dr, me and my friends work against prejudices and an upcoming war, as well as a very dangerous voldemort on the rise.

ℬACKSTORY
◞ backstory : i grew up in england where a lot of my family was but by the time i turned 13 we moved to scotland, partially to attend hogwarts and partially because my parents wanted to get away from some of our pureblood family members. my parents, though from a notable pureblood family, don't agree with the views of pureblood culture. because my parents' reputation for their last name still upheld, when we moved we were invited to an event that ended up just being a pureblood society ball. we only stayed out of politeness, but it was there that i met sirius and promised to be best friends with him when we got to hogwarts since we both hated the party.
𝒲ARDROBE
◞ description : my style in this dr can change a lot, especially taking into consideration the weather or location i'm in. in terms of colors, i wear a lot of neutrals but tend to have a specific color pop (which oftentimes a cherry red). during winter and autumn months, i am often wearing oversized jumpers (whether mine or stolen from remus). i also almost always wear flared or baggy pants. some of my iconic pieces include leather jackets, doc martens, band tees, baker boy hats, plaid skirts, and more. during the summer i tend to wear baby tees and babydoll tops, along with skirts. with my uniform, i pair many accessories to make it look as appealing as possible, and use magic to have different nails every day.
ℒIFE AT HOGWARTS
◞ general : students start first year at 14, so it is a sort of hybrid between highschool and university, where students have much more freedom once 18. school uniforms are only required during classes from monday - thursday, and on friday you may wear your desired outfit underneath your robes.
◞ dorms : students are allocated private dorms that have within them a bed, a desk, a private bathroom, and more. once a student is assigned to a dorm, the dorm changes to accommodate that student's taste. once you are given your dorm number, you must choose a password and it is your responsibility to ensure students you do not want to come in cannot. in the case that a student knows your password and you do not want them to, you can ask a professor to change it and they will do so. alohomora will not unlock dorm rooms. dorms are organized by house, but boy's and girl's dorms are not separated - everything is instead organized by house and name.
◞ extra-curriculars : the clubs i am part of include music club (which later inspires me and my friends to make a band), theater club, art club, care of magical creatures club, and in later years, the quidditch team
◞ houses : the animosity between houses (especially slytherin and gryffindor) is not nearly as prevalent as depicted in the books. it is known that not all students in one house are the same, and so, while some friendly competition is encouraged, it is not uncommon to have friends from every house. students of every house are allowed into the common rooms and dorms (with permission of at least one person from that house).
◞ events : all the events featured in this post are included in this dr
𝒜BOUT THIS DR
◞ worldbuilding : not a lot changes about the war except for the fact that it's toned down and ends during my seventh year (which we redo since it would be similar to the last year in the harry potter books - looking for horcruxes without actually being at hogwarts). of course, none of my friends die. i haven't accounted for how the war will end exactly, so i suppose i'll let that work itself out organically.
◞ main friends : remus lupin, sirius black, james potter, lily evans, regulus black, marlene mckinnon, mary macdonald.
◞ relationships : i am a formal part of both the marauders and the valkyries. i became friends with the marauders at the start of the school year, and we were consequently established as a friend group before me and the girls. i tend to spend more time with the marauders but our groups often mingle since everyone gets along (except maybe lily and james at the beginning). i also have some friends in slytherin, such as andromeda and regulus, but i tend to stay away from the anti-muggleborn students.
