What happens if you eventually get completely replaced with robot parts over time then travel to before your body got replaced, and interact with yourself?

Are you still the same person?

Does the answer to that question affect whether or not it’s a time paradox?

How is the witch/wizard thing transphobic? Genuine question! I thought it was a stupid misconception or sexist at most but is there some transphobic history behind it? I don’t know much so I’m curious lol

The witch/wizard dichotomy was popularized by the Harry Potter series, written by JKR a proud transphobe among other things. Idk what her thought process was bc they are two completely separate things, but ig she was just sexist and wanted to more firmly divide genders🤷‍♂️

I personally highlight her as a transphobe bc its what shes known for, but shes also very racist, sexist, homophobic, really just bigoted in general. P obvious if you read the books lol.

always happy about the fact that in 2012, mikey often asked donnie questions if he didn't understand something and donnie always answered no matter what

this can be seen in a bunch of episodes but my favorite example of it it's the one in half shell heroes where mikey is extremely excited to be in the museums and is the one actively asking donnie questions about the exhibits they saw and also actively listening to donnie's explanation (before raph got silly lmao). he was very excited to learn!!!

And while it's true that mikey would lose interest quite fast if the explanation got too lengthy with too many technical terms, it doesn't change the fact that he does retain the info donnie is always rambling on about different things!!! (even if mikey himself doesn't notice he's doing it lol) and also i find it very sweet that no matter if donnie himself got annoyed, donnie would always answer the questions. no matter what. he would always try to explain if he didn't understand something

This is prob because mikey is the one brother who is often seeking out donnie to pass time around him Meaning that donnie might have used mikey as his rubber ducky whenever mikey hangs out with him while he's working (explained him a lot of his experiments and theories while trying to solve them himself and in this way mikey also learnt in the process WHILE spending time with his brother! win win!)

it also helps donnie because accompanies him while not letting him get lonely in his lab 24/7, sometimes explaining things to someone makes it better to understand it yourself AND it's shown in the comics that donnie is quite used to his brothers just Living as background noise and literally cannot function without it lmao

They are literally the two smart kids in the family even if none of them notice it and it's all because mikey looks up to his brother and is like an sponge with donnie around. donnie is actively teaching mikey and mikey is learning! even if they have no idea they are doing it

I've already gotten a small handful of questions about this lil au, so I thought I'd answer some! Looks like it's gonna be a mainstay :'D I'll need to find a proper name for it,,, "Another Brother" speaks to me, let me know what y'all think or if you have some better suggestions!

I think he stays mostly the same, honestly! Maybe a bit more abrasive and rude, but he already was that way before lol :'D Tails is probably the one who is most changed by this shake-up!

Hmm, see, I don't know about more reckless because he doesn't seem to have changed that part of his behaviour even after gaining his sidekick. He's already impulsive and reckless to the point of Tails needing to constantly tell him to take it back a notch, and doesn't show much worry whenever his lil buddy crashes a plane for the 50th time.

But you know what he definitely is? Way less patient! He used to be SO impatient in the classic games that he would literally rather jump off the stage never to be seen again than stand still for more than 3 minutes. I like to think having a small, anxious child around taught him to take a breather and be more understanding of others :')

I think so! This Tails is probably very sceptical of strangers because, unlike Sonic, Knuckles absolutely did not teach him to trust people despite the hurt he's been caused by a select few. I got a different ask about how I think the plot of S3&K would change, and I plan to do a proper breakdown of that! :]

it's a standalone, and it is quintessential Charles. it's a perfect microcosm of her books and a great litmus test to see if you're ready to become a devotee: country house shenanigans, spies, blackmail, murder, treason, follies, fops. the KJC experience.

2. Slippery Creatures 3. The Sugared Game 4. Subtle Blood

these three are The Will Darling Adventures, and I'd read these next because a) they are next time-line wise, b) there's a very subtle character crossover from Think of England, and c) they are excellent.

5. Band Sinister 6. The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting

welcome to the Regency period baaabbbyyyyyy! you can read these two in any order: they're both delightfully low stakes (for us, i.e. no murder to speak of) and deliciously high stakes (for the genre, i.e. ruined reputations and marrying above one's station).

7. The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen 8. A Gentleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel

The Doomsday Books. I think this duology is objectively her best. there are a lot of characters in KJ Charles’ books that I adore, but there is only ONE who I think is actually sexy and I kind of have a crush on, and he is in these books. my MAN.

from this point on you can choose your own adventure. if you're vibing with the Regency and breeches and all that rot and don't want to leave yet, then next up for you is the Society of Gentlemen series:

in my opinion, this series is two bang average books with a fucking masterpiece nestled in the middle. but that's just me. I love sedition.

if you're sick of the Regency and absolutely cannot bear anyone else whinging and going to their club or whatever (I've read a lot of Regency recently and may perhaps be projecting) then jump a few decades to A Charm of Magpies:

now listen. these are pretty far down on this list, but they are actually my favourites because they are FANTASY. there's wizards. there's disgraced aristocrats. there's birds. there's tattoos. there's people who can fly. there's giant rats. it's the absolute best series - it's SO fun. I am taking up a one-woman bothering campaign to get KJC to write a prequel. I've read these books once a year since 2018 and unfortunately I am not kidding.

as you're now in the Victorian era, Sins of the Cities next:

An Unseen Attraction An Unnatural Vice An Unsuitable Heir

this again is two average books with a banger nestled in the middle, to me. but ymmv.

once you've read all these, it really is a free for all and honestly you're on your own decision-wise. there are some very good standalones (Death in the Spires), some perfectly fine standalones (Copper Script, All of Us Murderers), and some that I can't remember a thing about (Unfit to Print, Henchmen of Zenda). there are also a couple of series that are subpar compared to the rest, which is to say still better than anyone else's books, Any Old Diamonds being the best (and can be read as a standalone). there are also sequels to several of the books mentioned above! there’s even the occasional foray into straight people and lesbians! the world truly is your oyster!

I’m currently doing a reread of the whole back catalogue in roughly this order (minus a couple that I didn’t love) and having the time of my life. next year I want to read them in chronological order through the Regency to the Victorian era and into the 20th century. I want to see who could meet whom and where. I want to make NOTES of WHO goes to WHAT CLUB and make a SPIDER DIAGRAM of all the CROSSOVERS.

I need motivation to finish the first chapter of a fic I'm writing where Klarion (specifically the Seven Soldiers one) just shows up in Wayne Manor one day and asserts "It's warm, it's dry, it's interesting, and you're not trying to take over my hometown while turning all the women into sex slaves. This is my home now." And Bruce is like, "Well, that was an incredibly concerning thing you just said... Do you have any allergies?"

Oh! And Alfred fucking loves him because when he showed up, he ate one of his cookies and started crying because they tasted so good. He then made him a glittery medal with broken English, saying "Best Cookie Maker" (or "Besd Cooky Maker") out of magic. After that he proceeded to follow him around the manor while he did chores, helping out and asking questions about everything. Alfred thinks Klarion is a riot and is completely on board with adding him to the collection.

yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. I totally wouldn't because I know better." you don't wanna talk about the military industrial complex as a whole, and you don't want to talk about recruiters, you just want to pin the blame on Specific Individual People one-by-one, as if they're responsible for the system that they're being ground up in. someone was in the military? bad person, no matter what. it's easier to believe that, I guess, than to acknowledge that Normal People (with high school educations) are manipulated and incentivized into joining a system that is Bad. at like age 18. but yeah no that 18 year old should have just been smarter lol haha anyway here are some screenshots for no particular reason
