Y’know that one skit from Television Parts where Mike is a janitor? Yeah, I think it’s a shame that he didn’t use the broom as a fake mic/guitar. So here’s some ideas I doodled a month ago while at work.

masai condescendingly referring to cleon as “miss”, and then a moment later cleon using it as an honorific when referring to cyrus, is such a slick way of acknowledging his hypocrisy without so much as breaking the flow of her argument

I am thinking about the couple that married before the miracle of the Wedding Feast in Cana. Wine was important to the culture then - so much so that having bad or too little wine at a wedding feast might be a bad omen. That the marriage will be cut short, or spoil. I imagine the groom knew there was limited wine. Someone had to. Maybe he found out the day of, maybe he came from a less-than-wealthy family and knew his wedding feast would inevitably fall short of expectations. Either way, there must have been shame, embarrassment and superstition about the wine shortage.
I then think about how Mary of Nazareth and her Son were invited. Maybe they were relatives of the bride’s family. Maybe the groom’s family knew Joseph, and invited his widow and child out of respect for him. I wonder if Joseph would have asked the Christ to answer the small, human, frivolous prayer for more wine. Either way, Jesus and His Mother are there without Joseph, a widow and her Son.
I think about Mary asking Jesus for more wine. She knows it’s not His time, that maybe she shouldn’t ask this small, human, frivolous miracle of her Godking, her Son. (Mary knows He will die before her, that the start of His ministry means the beginning of His end.) But she asks anyway. And even when He reproaches her for asking, knowing it isn’t time yet, she pulls aside the servers and tells them to do whatever He tells them. She has complete trust in her Son to grant her this miracle, even though He reprimanded her request.
I think about Jesus’ reprove to Mary. He addresses her, ‘woman,’ not mother or by name. There’s indignation unbecoming of a son, but fitting of a King. And yet, He does as His mother asks. He doesn’t have to. It isn’t His time yet. But as Mary trusts Him completely, He loves her completely, and submits to obedience to her will, not the plan put in place before time itself. It isn’t His time yet, but then in an instant it is His time, at the very moment He changes the water.
I think about the headserver complimenting the groom, about how he saved the best wine til last. The groom who knew the wine would run out, had run out. He must have been so confused, so frightened - where had the wine come from? Who was being so gracious to him, who couldn’t even provide wine for his own wedding feast? What would they want? But no one is claiming the wine, the miracle, and the groom has been worried and ashamed about the wine shortage throughout the feast, so maybe he just accepts the praise, accepts the miracle. Maybe later, he hears whispers between the servants, talking about that carpenter’s boy from Nazareth. About his mother who asked that young man for more wine. A guest the groom didn’t even greet by name, bestowing a miracle on his wedding and leaving without acknowledging it.

is it just me or did YouTube and TikTok join forces in a unanimous decision to become the most godawfully annoying people about artfight this year. Like artfight has always had pockets of people who were Weird About It, but holy Shit the inherent toxicity of TikTok getting its grubby little hands on it and doing what TikTok does by amplifying it tenfold has me wanting to wither up and die. Imagine finding one of the last bastions of genuinely community-oriented creative platforms and deciding that you’re so drunk on toxicity that you need to immediately rake it through four fields of cow shit and a tar pit for good measure, thereby doing your damnest to ruin it not only for yourself but for everyone else too. could not be me!

Something I think about all the time is how some of Aaravos’s first words to Viren were “how may I serve you?” and one of his absolute last direct remarks made on his thoughts on Viren (for now) is “I tried so hard to help your father”.

#the dragon prince#tdp#viravos#aaravos#viren#lord viren#tdp aaravos#aaravos tdp#tdp viren#viren tdp#the themes of control and power and freedom go so hard within their relationship#especially considering the self-sacrifice boarding onto sh themes with them#that also tie into the butterfly motifs in the show#which also somehow tie into their individual relationships with their literal butterfly child#(which is something I'm not gonna shut up about btw how the butterfly is one of the most commonly associated symbols for the psyche)#I mean their child being created as a tool to serve them that supposedly wasn’t meant to have a soul#and viren and aaravos both in a similar way as their child dealt with the idea of servitude in their arcs a lot#but ultimately the ways we saw them adhere to the idea of servitude was to either actually indirectly serve their own means#or to alternatively further self-deprecate themselves#like just to callback to how aaravos refers to viren and later on to himself as vessels#like I think the fact that they added that second use of the term wasn’t for no point at all#I think it was to show how little aaravos respects his own bodily autonomy as much as viren’s or the next guy’s#or yk his own child#but anyways yeah it is so fascinating to see two characters who are so power hungry be willing to damage themselves in such awful ways#or in other words sacrifice so much and even themselves#just to obtain that sense of power#especially in relationship to each other#the irony with these two#but ig that's what aaravos was preaching about with everything being complicated

besties i’m so sorry i couldn’t do the taka week prompt today. i tried, but things weren’t workin’ out. sighhhhh
i was gonna do m for moth because i’m nothing if not predictable. but i’ll still use the opportunity to bring it up again. hey. if you wanna check out a taka fanfic for taka week with a lot of moth imagery, is ishida focused, has survivor taka, and is a character study focused on how taka uses ishida as a form of escapism to not deal with a reality where mondo isn’t there… then i recommend this fic of mine. that i love. so so much. and is almost two years old. but i still love it.
anyways yeah. hopefully i’ll have something for tomorrow!
