It's the way Loki pretends to resist that keeps Mobius coming back to this moment.
The way their eyes narrow in disdain despite the shine betraying their curiosity.
It takes the smallest tilt of his head for Loki to give in and get on the bike. Each time, Mobius’ heart flutters. He rewinds the tape and watches it over and over.
No one knows he smuggled this clip onto his TemPad. No one needs to know he has a folder filled with them.
In the dark of his apartment, the only light he has is the flickering image of Loki.

S1 • EP7 ➤ Galadriel Reminiscing Celeborn (and Morfydd's Acting!)
Thinking about Morfydd's comments on Galadriel having lost some of her softness from the loss of Celeborn, I can see how she acts that out in this ep. She plays this scene with restraint first and gradually becomes more emotive as she delivers lines about Celeborn.

When Theo asks if she had ever lost kin, she first says Finrod. Her vocal tone is a matter-of-fact and she has a neutral expression. Even though she hadn't come to terms with Finrod's death, Galadriel is at the point where she accepts that truth. This is what helped her resist Sauron's illusion.

When she says "Celeborn, my husband," Morfydd adjusts her tone— slightly higher pitch and more tense. It reminds me of the way your voice can crack when you cry or try not to cry. She also sounds like she hadn't spoken his name in a long time. You can also see the anger on her face.
As Galadriel reminisces on their first meeting, her love for Celeborn starts to seep through and her tone softens, particularly in the second half of the line, "I was dancing and he saw me there."

When she talks about the war, her tone becomes even more loving with the line "When he went to it, I chided him." She even smiles, amused by his ill-fitted armor but her eyes are also watery.
Her tone seems strange for a memory of Celeborn going off to war but his courage, however much of folly it seemed at the time, is her 'last' image of him.
As she later says, “Protecting that which is most fragile, most dear, is a task entrusted to all Elves." So like many others, Celeborn 'died' for this task and it's bittersweet.

Galadriel's facial and vocal expression hardens again when she says, "I never saw him again after that." Yet, her eyes gives it away. Losing Celeborn is still painful for her.
Unlike Finrod who was cleaned up and given rites, she never saw Celeborn's body. A mountain of helmets but none of them belonged to him. No final keepsake of Celeborn to hold onto.
Would Galadriel have wondered if he was truly dead? What happened to his body? Any witnesses? Is there a chance that he is alive? If he is, why didn't he find his way back to her? What if Galadriel also pursued the orcs and Sauron far and wide, hoping to find any sign of Celeborn?
Maybe there's a chance that Galadriel hasn't processed Celeborn's 'death' in the same way she has with Finrod. Maybe not talking about him, in show-verse, is also a way for her to not think about any of it as one less thing that haunts her.
(For @valar-did-me-wrong - I didn't think I had anything to say but I lied to myself.)

Zutarians adultifying Katara and thinking that's "empowerment" (and also outright lying) yet again: https://www.tumblr.com/longing-for-rain/760214836385824768/just-something-i-felt-you-should-know-about-five
The one and only thing I agreed is that at some point Katara is drawn with more, ahem, "developed" body. This started in Book 3, and... I honestly always concidered it to be the bad thing. Not because I'm a prude (although maybe I am), but because I thought the whole deal of main characters were that they are children. They are kids. Of course, a girl at fourteen can have curves - or not have it - the girls are all different, in the end, both of these cases are normal. But Katara is a drawn character, she looks the way the creators want her to look. And the thing that they drew her "pronounced breasts" and "wider hips" never sat right with me, it always irked me. It doesn't look empowering to me, it looks like sexualization, combined with the fact that in Book 3 she is always drawn with partly or completely loose hair, which is not good for battle at all, but looks more aestetically appealing (but that's only my point of view). I prefer her Book 1 and 2 designs any time.
What also irks me is zutarians obsession with "hot, sexy, horny yet naive Katara plus sexy experienced Zuko, the only man who can give her intense sexual pleasure she craves so much" idea. No wonder they cheer when Katara looks older and drool over her "revealing" Fire Nation outfit, it all aligns with their fantasies.
Also, the choise of proof screenshots is hilarious. Three of them are drawn by one studio, the top right one and the final one - by the other. "Wider" or "narrower" eyes are just the result of different drawing styles. For example - the same studio that pictured Katara as "honestly creepy, like a babydoll" draws her in the scenes with Zuko:
https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/109/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x09_1138.jpg https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/220/images/avatar-the-last-airbender2x20_0904.jpg https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/321/images/avatar3x21_0391.jpg https://www.cap-that.com/avatar/321/index.php?image=avatar3x21_0413.jpg
The necklace scene, the catacombs, the battle against Azula. Same baby face with big eyes. And, dare I mention, in first two seasons her breasts are only slightly hinted at, which doesn't stop zutarians from sexualizing these scenes.
The lenghs they'll go to justify their sexual fantasies... Ew.
I'm gonna be real, Katara wasn't really sexualized by the show. I can only think of two scenes in which I got any kind of fanservice vibe from it (both included her bathing in a waterfall). People are just weird about girls, especially non-white girls, going through puberty, and zutarians in particular want to adultify Katara no matter what to go "See? She's too old for Aang, but not too young for Zuko, even though the age gap is the same!"
Acknowledging "Girls have breasts" is not the same as drawing her in a sexy way, much like not every scene of male characters firebending without shirts on was sexualization. The hair down also doesn't strike me as trying to make her look desirable, just a little bit older - the passage of time is not sexual.
For fucks sake, even a scene like Sokka clearly getting ready to "have fun" with Suki wasn't anything that would be inappropriate for children to see and it's just acknowledging the basic fact of "Sometimes teenagers wanna do more than kiss each other."
If you want to see the characters be sexualized, look at the Fire Nation teens, especially Ty Lee and Zuko - and I'm okay with that because they're not real teens. They're lines in a piece of paper. No minor is being exploited or put in an inappropriate situation, and considering Nickelodeon has a history of sexualizing REAL children in the live action shows, I just don't care that Avatar let Ty Lee wear a bikini or made Zuko attract a bunch of girls by dramatically taking off his shirt at the beach. They're not being harmed, just like no real child was harmed when Ozai disfigured his own son.
These characters age matters when it comes to understanding their reasonings and the ocasional "immature/naive" reaction, and nothing else. And once again, the show didn't really do anything too crazy.

My redneck neighbor Doug watches 'The Bad Batch': 'The Harbinger'
Yup, as we all know, Doug unlocked a HUGE character with Asajj Ventress, who is apparently an embittered ex-Navy wife lurking somewhere in the depths of the Florida Panhandle and not a reborn Jedi goth chick.
CW: You will learn more about this poor ex wife of John then you will ever deem fit. Be warned.
All images taken from here: https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/the-bad-batch/309
-----------------------------
Episode 9, “John’s-Ex-Wife: The Revenge”
Daddy Warcrimes does what a daddy in need of a mommy will do, and is going to pick up women by the dockside. Wonder if they take cash or not.
And here’s Julio to remind him to wrap it before he snaps it, ya know? Good bro, when has Julio done anything wrong, love him. Maybe Julio laid his pipe in Space Louisiana last week, who knows if the mantis had a sister who had bills to pay and Terrebonne Parish don’t have a lot of jobs but has a lot of lonely people and, where were we?
Why is it all foggy here now? We in Maine now?
Well, Mutant Jimmers is doing work, as the kids say now, tracking down the junkies hiding out in the caves. I can’t blame Mutant Jimmers or the junkies, they gotta do their smack and doing it in the park ain’t good. I wonder who makes the meth on the island? It ain’t Church Lady, she’s too busy working and having fun in the snow with her beau, Sassy-Park-Ranger*.
Awwww shit it’s not space junkies, it’s worse! It’s JOHN’S-EX-WIFE! Of course she’s hiding her Ford pickup in a cave, the other one got booted outside of Pensacola after she banged the neighborhood granddad and he called the cops after she stole his TV.
(the last shot John saw before he left for the rig that one time)
God damn, she’s wearing the same outfit you wear to work, Meat Muffin! Do you think she writes papers and yells at people on the phone like you do too?
Well John’s-Ex-Wife hasn’t changed, first thing she starts doing is fighting and bitching at everyone for not paying their bills on time. I hated that damn woman but I’ll say this much, she was organized. But that’s how the Devil is. Not organized to not cheat on John with every sailor in Pensacola and the neighborhood granddad but nobody’s perfect I guess.
Well, she’s going to test Little Orphan Blondie by making her do yoga on the beach while her brothers watch. Doing dumb shit in public to be different, yup, that’s John’s-Ex-Wife for you. Surprised Daddy Warcrimes hasn’t capped her and her bleached hair yet.
Oh! Now she sent Little Orphan Blondie on an errand leaving the boys behind in a dark room with her. How much do you wanna bet there’s gonna be a train and Thomas the Tank Engine ain’t involved? God, it was a miracle John never ended up with the clap. His ex wife really was the bike of Escambia County.
And there’s a fight. Woo! John’s-Ex-Wife’s history as a bartender is coming on through! Girlfriend can handle her own–and here’s the lightsaber! WOAH! I don’t want her to kick my boy’s butts but damn girl, git ‘er done!
Also why don’t they all just pile on her, why are they waiting, this ain’t ballroom dancing boys! Toaster Strudel and Rex would NEVER.
Where IS TOASTER STRUDEL AND REX?!?!?!
Well, Little Orphan Blondie’s back and seems to like John’s-Ex-Wife for some reason. God damn it, Little Orphan Blondie, you’re a rube and I ain’t happy about it. At least Church Lady got you sushi and hit on your idiot brother who didn’t deserve her.
Little Orphan Blondie’s no Jedi, whatever. But nothing brings the family together like deep sea fishing, even more then going off into the snow and punching each other in front of the trailer!
Off John’s-Ex-Wife and Little Orphan Blondie go while the dads do a lil bit of peepin. Except Daddy Warcrimes who knows a thing or two and keeps a gun tailed her. Yeah, Daddy Warcrimes!
Oh! What’s this? Ain’t this the shit from Aquaman? Are they gonna get jumped by sea aliens until Aquaman throws flashlights at them?**
Nope! It’s that thing from Pirates of the Caribbean! Where’s Johnny Depp and his dreadlocks?! They’re firing up the HMS Search Warrant to do a rescue and…woah. Woah. What’s Johns-Ex-Wife doing here? The force? She can do all that shit but she can’t keep her marriage, oh Johns-Ex-Wife.
Look at Daddy Warcrimes being a gentleman and helping the ladies onto their stolen work truck. Most ladies get upset when a creepy old man with a gun hoists them into a windowless van but not Johns-Ex-Wife. Trust me.
Johns-Ex-Wife warns them and then flings off, as she is wont to do. Why do I feel the next episode is going to be the DEA raiding Space Florida? I bet she’s a snitch for the government, calling it now!
*=Doug will never get off the Phee/Mayday train. I tried. I failed. I’m sorry, internet.

Thoughts on The Bad Batch Episode 5 - The Return - A Discussion Post (PART 1)
This episode was so healing. It was really something I needed. Let's look back on an episode filled with family joy!
SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EPISODE YET! all screencaps are from cap-that.com! (https://www.cap-that.com/starwars/the-bad-batch/305/)
(NOTE: This post is split into two posts! I didn't know Tumblr had a limit to how many images you can add, and there's a lot I want to talk about in this episode. So here is Part 2 once you finish reading this one: LINK TO PART 2)

The episode opens with Omega sleeping safely in her room on the Marauder, the warm sun signaling her to awaken. Omega is safe and happy, having the real Lula to sleep with again.

Hunter and Wrecker are relaxing in the ship with some hot cups of tea, and Omega wonders where Crosshair is. I'm happy to see them relaxing after a long time of searching for Omega.

Crosshair is found on the beach, training with his sniper rifle. He has AZ to help him get a target, and AZ is happy to see Omega. I'm glad AZ is safe too since I've been wondering where he went after the finale of Season 2. Crosshair's hand keeps on trembling, and he sighs, worried about it. It's sad to see him this way, especially since he's the guy who never missed a target.

Crosshair still hasn't properly talked to Hunter, and Hunter and Wrecker keep their eyes on Crosshair. Omega tells Crosshair to relax and be patient, as things would eventually work out. She's really being their older sister.

Echo arrives on Pabu, and Omega immediately runs to see him again. I'm glad Echo finally came, the squad really needs the mom of the batch right now. Crosshair asks, "No hug for me?" Boy really needs one though.

The boys and Omega gather near Pabu's sunset, discussing the clones left on Mount Tantiss. All they have is Nala Se's datapad that Omega took to help her and Crosshair escape, but nothing else. Echo mentions Tech, and they all look down in silence. Tech was always the one who was able to figure things out, but now it's harder without him. Crosshair looks down sadly, and I could not get over this part. He lost his twin, and he wasn't even there for it. He didn't know when. All Crosshair can do is mourn like the others, but he never got to see Tech for one more time. The datapad is also shut down, so it's going to be even harder to use it.

Crosshair mentions that they can go to an Imperial facility that will be easy for them to use, and Hunter says that he will go with him and Echo, needing Omega and Wrecker to stay on Pabu. Omega has her heart set on rescuing the clones on Tantiss, and Hunter doesn't want to risk losing her again. After a little debate, Hunter lets Omega come with. Echo raised this girl right; she knows when to never give up.

While getting ready on Echo's ship, Crosshair and Hunter avoid each other like the plague, refusing to talk to each other. Honestly, I don't blame Hunter; Crosshair performed a lot of mistakes, but Hunter would need to talk to him.

Omega keeps talking to Crosshair, being the only one who Crosshair can trust right now. Omega calls him "little brother", and Crosshair smirks and lets out a small chuckle. I swear, Crosshair was so soft this episode.

Wrecker comes up to Crosshair and hands him a large crate with Crosshair's old armor inside. They never got rid of it, no matter how long Crosshair was gone.

They arrive on the planet Crosshair is directing them to, and it turns out to be the planet where Crosshair had killed that Imperial officer, and the same planet where Mayday died. A place now buried with even more snow. Crosshair puts on his old armor, and he looks better than never before.

Crosshair sees the same bird again flying overhead, and he often saw it throughout this episode. I love the symbolism with this bird, and now Crosshair is free.

As Batcher locates facility sensors and the team decide what to do next, Hunter and Crosshair begin to argue with each other. Echo breaks up the fight, since this is not the time for any. Omega scolds Crosshair, and Crosshair replies, "He started it." If that isn't peak sibling energy, I don't know what is.

They manage to get the facility open to hook the datapad up, while Hunter continues to watch Crosshair. Crosshair knows and senses this, but doesn't say a word.

Crosshair looks around and finds Mayday's helmet, along with the helmets of the other clone troopers Crosshair had met before. He puts them up, remembering his friend. Hunter watches him do this, but he doesn't know what happened here. Crosshair went through a lot here.

Part 7 - Just Another Day

Link on Archive of Our Own
Link on Fanfiction.net
Parts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Rating: G/K+
Summary: It’s Empire Day and Kanan finally shows Hera his holocron. Set pre-Star Wars: Rebels.
A/N: In Season 1, Episode 8, Kanan acts like he doesn't even know what Empire Day is, I have retconned that slightly here because I think of all people in the Ghost crew Kanan would most remember the day the Republic fell.
*****
Hera first heard the voice coming from Kanan's room early that day. It was a man's voice, but distinct enough from Kanan's that she knew it wasn't his. It echoed faintly through the hall. Passing the door, she caught a few words of what the man was saying. "Avoid detection. Be secret." Hera assumed that Kanan must be listening to a recording of some kind as she made her way to the galley for breakfast.
When Kanan didn't show like he usually did she made her own meal and ate it by herself. He probably just needed some alone time, so she would let him have his space. Wanting for her usual morning conversation, however, she switched on the small radio she kept in the galley to hear some news.
"Happy greetings to all citizens and sentients on this Empire Day," the announcer started, "we look forward to the bright and beautiful future under the wisdom and guidance of our great Emperor Palpatine."
Hera switched off the radio in disgust, even here on the Outer Rim the propaganda messages of the Empire still blared on every official holiday. Twi'leks didn't observe Empire Day, the Empire had only ever brought them more pain and loss than The Clone Wars ever had. I guess it's going to be a quiet day today, Hera thought, no Kanan, no radio. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself. Finishing her meal she headed into Ghost's cockpit and started in on her checklist for the morning.
When she returned to her cabin a little later to gather up her dirty clothes for washing, she heard the voice again. "Do not return." Taking her clothes to the washing machine, Hera sorted her them into distinct color piles. She wondered what Kanan was listening to or watching in his room. Even though the voice was nice enough, the words it spoke didn't sound particularly good.
Around noon she went back to her cabin with her laundry clean and folded. She hadn't seen Kanan yet today, she hoped he was enjoying his alone time. She ought to be enjoying hers, but she'd ended up spending most of her day so far thinking about what Kanan was doing and not really taking advantage of the peace and quiet herself. The voice from before could be heard through the cabin door. "Avoid detection." Hera didn't know why, but she was beginning to not like this voice so much.
Kanan didn't appear for lunch either, so Hera ate with only Chopper for company. The little droid gurgled and grumbled, asking where Kanan was.
"He's in his room, I guess he's not hungry." Hera tried not to worry about Kanan's absence, sometimes he just needed extra space. He needed time to meditate almost every day and on top of that, sometimes people just needed to not be around each other for a bit.
Chopper pinched his clamp-arms, offering to go get him.
"No, Chop, leave him alone. He'll come find us when he's ready." She hoped it wouldn't be too long before he did so, she was kind of missing him today. She'd roamed the galaxy for quite some time before she'd met up with Kanan, and she had been happy enough being alone with only Chopper. But things were different now, she was different now, she didn't want to go back to being by herself ever again.
Chopper suggested taking him some food, reaching one of his little arms out for the edge of her plate.
"No, Chopper, if Kanan's hungry he'll come get something. He wants to be left alone." Mentally, however, she decided that if she didn't see him at supper than she would take him something. But who knew, maybe fasting sometimes was a Jedi thing?
When it was close to supper time Hera went to grab one of her tools from her under-bunk drawer. The voice was still coming from Kanan's room. It had to either be a really long recording, or Kanan was listening to the same one it over and over again. "This message is a warning." Those words sent a chill down Hera's spine. Whatever it was, she didn't like it.
Heading to the galley for supper, Hera noticed she was once again alone. Kanan was usually the one to cook, but he hadn't come out of his room all day. She was a little worried about him. Opening the cupboards she pulled down a few ingredients and started preparing dinner. Kanan likely hadn't eaten all day so she tried her best to make something edible. Between the two of them, he was the better cook, but she made a brave effort to make something appealing and delicious.
Kanan never showed for dinner, so after she ate she put a portion of the meal into a bowl and headed towards his room. Pausing in front of the door she could still hear that voice and the same ominous words as before. Knocking, she called, "Kanan, I brought you something for dinner." For a second there was no response and Hera thought about putting the bowl on the floor in front of his cabin and leaving. If he really did want space she would give it to him.
The voice stopped and she heard Kanan moving about in his room. The doors to these cabins weren't soundproof at all. She'd thought about trying to find more soundproof ones, but with only the two of them, an overhaul like that didn't make much sense. Opening the door, Kanan stood before her. He blinked as the bright light from the hall hit his face. Hera saw that his room was completely dark.
Kanan looked down at the bowl she was holding and seemed to register exactly how late it was. "Sorry, I forgot."
Hera proffered the bowl of food. "You've been a bit preoccupied all day. Here, eat something."
Kanan took the bowl. "I guess I have been."
Hera leaned against the door frame, she didn't want to be pushy, but she wanted to make sure that he was okay. "I heard you in here listening to something over and over again all day, is everything alright?"
Kanan kept his eyes on the bowl in his hands. "I've been listening to a Jedi recording."
"What's it of?" Hera struggled to mesh the decidedly dark snippets she'd been overhearing all day with the calm and peacefulness of the Jedi.
He deliberated for a moment but finally said, "I can show you." Kanan waved her inside and set his bowl down on the storage cabinet.
Hera entered the dark room, leaving the door open. Noticing a small cube on the floor, she recognized it as Kanan's holocron, a Jedi device of some sort, but she didn't know much more about it. Closing his eyes, Kanan raised his hand and the cube floated into the air in the middle of the room.
Hera marveled as, without so much as a touch from a physical hand, the cube broke into multiple pieces and emitted a blue-white light. From the center of the block a holographic figure appeared and Hera realized it must have some sort of data storage capacity.
The figure was dressed in Jedi robes and started speaking in the neat and polished tones of the Coruscant political district. Kanan kept his eyes closed, his hand outstretched to the holocron. The blue light poured over his features casting them into sharp relief. The figure began his message, "This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi: trust in the Force. Do not return to the Temple. That time has passed, and our future is uncertain. Avoid Coruscant. Avoid detection. Be secret... but be strong. We will each be challenged: our trust, our faith, our friendships. But we must persevere and, in time, I believe a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you always."
As the recording ended the holocron resumed its previous cube shape and fell back to the floor. Kanan opened his eyes. The only light in the room came from the hall, leaving the cabin's interior dark and shadowy. Hera knew of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he'd been one of the Jedi who'd helped to liberate Ryloth during The Clone Wars. She didn't understand why Kanan had been watching this message of all day, though.
She turned to him, putting a hand on his arm. "Why are you watching this today?"
"Today's That Day, the day the Jedi fell." Kanan's voice was quiet. He was still looking at the spot on the floor where the holocron lay.
"Empire Day," Hera whispered, mostly to herself. It suddenly made sense. For her the day that the Republic fell was just another day among many when her people mourned for all that had been lost, for Kanan? It was the last day of his past life. He'd only been fourteen. Giving Kanan's arm a squeeze she nodded her head towards the bunk. "Want to tell me about it?"
The two of them went to the bunk and sat down. Kanan still wasn't looking at her. "I don't think I can," he said at last. His voice was low and thick with emotion. "Not anymore than I already have."
Hera nodded. "That's okay, love." She ran a hand over his arm trying to comfort him. "Do you want me to leave?"
"No." Kanan shook his head. His eyes still locked on the holocron on the floor. He was tense, she could see that in the way he was sitting. He was trying to let her in but it wasn't easy.
Hera slipped her arm behind his back and ran her hand back and forth across his shoulders. She waited for a long moment to see if he would say anything more. When he remained silent she asked, "Does listening to that recording help?"
Kanan sighed. "Kind of? It's the last thing I have from the Jedi and when I listen to it sometimes I," he paused for a moment, trying to collect himself, "I feel hope." Sitting up a little he looked at her finally, his eyes searching her face like he'd done so many times before. "Master Kenobi had to have lived through it all in order to make this message, sometimes I wonder if he's still out there somewhere." Hera heard the shift in his voice as he struggled for control. "Maybe there are others too. Sometimes I think, I hope, that maybe I'm not the last one."
Hera continued rubbing Kanan's back, pricked by a sudden wave of emotion herself. She knew what it was like to lose someone close to you. Losing her mother was one of the hardest things she'd ever experienced, made even harder by her father's cold attitude and emotional distance. It had taken her a lot of years to feel more or less okay again, but the hole in her heart left by her mother's death had in no way disappeared. That was just one person, she hadn't lost everyone. She still had her father, even with things as they were between them. She still had Ryloth and could return there whenever she wanted. She still had her people. She knew who she was and where she belonged. If she had lost it all, she wasn't sure she could have survived.
"Kanan," she said, her voice low as she tried to keep her own emotions in check, "I'm so sorry." She leaned her head against his shoulder trying to let him know she was there. "Is there anything I can do?" She hated feeling helpless, like she couldn't do anything to comfort or protect those she loved.
Kanan didn't smile exactly, but he gave her a soft look. "Today is hard for me, but having you here makes it easier. Even if I am the last of the Jedi, I know I'm not alone."
Hera put her hand to Kanan's face, turning it so she could see him better. She looked deep into his eyes and realized one again how long and bitter the road of grief was to walk. She couldn't walk it for him, but she could be at his side while he did. "And you never will be."

Mobius really shouldn't be thinking of running his hands through black curls while Loki paces in distress. It's inappropriate and likely to ruin their friendship.
He swallows down the impulse, but it doesn't go away. His hands twitch as Loki talks in riddles about a bogeyman at the end of time who's dead and also starting a war.
He admits he's not really listening. It's hard to concentrate when their hair looks softer in ways he can't explain.
Loki stops suddenly, and Mobius realises they're looking for his input.
He does the only thing he can. “Could you repeat that?”

Thoughts on TBB 1x1
I've missed doing these analyses but I have started rewatching TBB from the beginning so I'm going to do some more breakdowns as I go through the series!
Discussion about random 1x1 moments down below! (Also spoilers for TBB S2)
Crosshair and Framing
I rewatched S1 a few times before S2 came out, so I was aware of some of the choices they made when positioning Crosshair in shots, but I didn't necessarily realise how often it happens! Right before Order 66 is given, Crosshair moves out of the frame. It's actually the last time that you see him until the order is given, meaning that you have a couple minutes of just the other four members.
What I find particularly interesting at this point though is what they are discussing. They are talking about what happens next, where they go from that point on. Now, in the context of the scene, they are discussing battle plans, but I find it interesting that they are talking about where they go from here and Crosshair isn't involved. He doesn't even contribute. Their entire conversation about what happens to them next does not involve Crosshair. He's completely out of the conversation, which I find interesting considering that the next major step that the Batch takes doesn't involve Crosshair being there. It's not necessarily a conscious decision by the Batch, but it's definitely a conscious decision by the writers to not have him involved in that moment.
But that's not the only time that Crosshair isn't in the frame! And even when he is, sometimes he's in the back and/or out of focus. (Images from cap-that.com)
Notice how he's also the only one with a helmet on here and how significant that helmet is when showing Imperial Crosshair.
This is just a selection of them, but you get the idea. Crosshair is frequently cut out, physically separated, or out of focus when the Batch are shown together. His detachment at this point is apparent.
But just to break your heart even more, guess who's the next to get cut out of a lot of the scenes. :)
Now Tech does appear in a lot more scenes than Cross and isn't cut out the majority of the time, but it stood out to me that the next person to disappear out of that first frame was Tech. I don't know if the writers knew for definite at this point what was going to happen in the S2 finale, but it's interesting how they seem to filter off in the same order that they do in the story.
The Bad Batch Being Irresponsible
This is less depressing to talk about but it made me laugh.
Hunter: "This is one meeting I don't want to miss."
Tech: "First time for everything."
As if it wasn't obvious enough that these lot are rubbish when it comes to following protocols, they straight up admit that they don't attend meetings. Imagine other members of the GAR trying to organise meetings with this squad to discuss missions and they just don't show up. They probably gave up trying to give anyone in this squad paperwork because it would never get filled out. I imagine that half of the mission reports are just second-hand accounts from other clones that the higher-ups had to talk to because none of them can actually track down any of the Batch to get information out of them.
Battle Report No. 7365-278
Accounts from multiple battalions claim that Clone Force 99 defeated the enemy by performing a series of unsafe manoeuvres that do not correspond with any of the plans laid out in the GAR regulations. Reasoning for the chosen methods is unknown as no-one has been able to contact Clone Force 99 to discuss these strategies. However, the battle was a success and all attempts to contact the squad have been abandoned by order of Commander CT-2224 who stated "You might as well give up now before you all get grey hairs trying to get them to do anything".
AZI and the Domino Twins
I said before during the S2 finale that seeing Echo with AZI reminded me of seeing him with Fives but what stands out to me even more is the fact that it is those two specifically who mark the last time we see him and the first time he is on screen again. The last time we saw AZI was with Fives. The first time we see him again is with Echo. The parallels between the domino twins are always there. :')
"Five are all that remain"
I'm hoping they touch on this in the final season because we've never really gone back to this. It makes me wonder a few things: how many were there? What were their capabilities? What happened to them? Did the Batch know them? It's all very intriguing but they've never really touched on it and I very much want them to.
Does Tarkin Know Echo?
I do wonder if Tarkin has any idea that Echo is the clone that sacrificed himself to help get Tarkin and the others out of the Citadel. I honestly think that he doesn't for a couple of reasons.
1. He doesn't seem to know much about CF99 in this episode, so he probably didn't do any reading up on them. I don't think he ever mentions their names either, so he probably doesn't know them, nor cares to know them.
2. Even if he did know them, I still don't think he'd make the connection. We've already established that Tarkin doesn't like clones, so I really don't think that he's going to remember Echo's name. I genuinely do not think he cares enough in the slightest to even try and remember him, let alone recognise him this much time later.
Wrecker with Crosshair and Tech
*Sigh* This makes me sad. Seeing all the wholesome moments between Wrecker and his brothers this episode just makes me think about how devastated he was about losing them. We know that Wrecker has very strong emotional connections to his family because he's the most open about them in the squad. Watching this episode when it was just Crosshair gone was devastating enough, but after what happened with Tech as well, it's all so painful.
There's that moment during the battle simulation when Tech gets knocked down and Wrecker tells him to hang on. It makes me think of 2x9 when Wrecker makes sure Tech is safe from the storm. And then it makes me think about 2x16... Wrecker has always been so protective of his brothers and he was the one to try and help Tech in the finale. He has always been there to pick them up when they need it and to protect them and he probably feels like a failure for not being able to do it. In a life like theirs, it's practically impossible for someone to protect anyone forever but for Wrecker, he's now left with the knowledge that he couldn't do it. None of us blame him, but I know that he probably suffers from some pretty awful guilt.
"Change takes getting use to"
The exact thing I wrote down after this line from Hunter was "oh, mate... if only you knew :')" and yeah... I think that pretty much sums it up.
The Batch have had to go through a whole lot of change and that's one of their biggest challenges. Even though they don't stick to orders, they are still soldiers and their life still holds some level of routine. But suddenly everything goes wrong, everything falls apart and a lot of that structure disappears. What happens to them between 1x1 and 2x16 is the most change that any of them have ever had to go through and none of them could've anticipated it.
"Good soldiers follow orders"
So this line has already been talked about to death but I noticed something in one scene in particular. When they are in the brig, and Crosshair says this, he takes a step towards Echo at the "follow orders" bit.
It's interesting that he directs that line towards Echo, the rule follower. Yes, he's addressing all of them at this point, but I wonder if he directs that part of the line specifically at Echo because he knows that Echo, by nature, is more likely to stick to regulations. It's an attempt at making the point stick. If Crosshair can make him believe that he can only be a good soldier if he does exactly as he's told (like Echo believed when he was in training), then he can hammer the sentiment in.
But what's also stands out is that Echo doesn't flinch. There's no pain, hurt, fear, concern, none of that. His face is kept stern and I think it's because that line doesn't stick with Echo as much any more. If someone had told him this when he was a cadet, then maybe it would've hurt him, made him doubt himself. But after everything that he's gone through, he knows that following orders alone doesn't determine how capable of a soldier you are. It doesn't dig as deep anymore because he of all people knows the need to adapt to the situation, even if it goes against direct orders.
(Not to mention that Echo is one of the most morally-driven people in the group. He knows that killing Jedi is the wrong thing to do and he is absolutely not listening to whatever Crosshair is trying to spew at him at this point).
#I didn't cry watching this episode!#I was very surprised by that#but here are some thoughts#more will come out as I move through the show#but I realised I have a show I need to catch up on by next week#so that'll probably get the most of my focus rn#but enjoy these ramblings in the meantime#Steph rambles#the bad batch#tbb#tbb echo#tbb tech#tbb crosshair#tbb wrecker#tbb hunter#clone force 99

I am genuinely surprised that the lists of dumb zvtara takes don't include the "change Zuko for Sokka in the lightning scene and it will start looking incestuous". Because it's like, one of the dumbest things they say.
Canon cases of Sokka protecting Katara:
Sokka protecting Katara from falling into a freezing sea after SHE broke the iceberg: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/101/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x01_0289.jpg https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/101/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x01_0299.jpg
Sokka shielding Katara with his body from whatever sits in this round piece of ice that SHE broke open: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/101/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x01_0455.jpg
Sokka shielding Katara with his body while a freaking AVATAR is destroying the temple: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/108/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x08_1519.jpg
Sokka attacking another AVATAR who dared to burn Katara (and then he will also blame the legendary firebender who is able to incinerate Sokka in seconds if being pissed): https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/116/images/avatar-the-last-airbender1x16_1169.jpg
Sokka jumping in front of Katara to scare away the wolf-bat: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/202/images/avatar-the-last-airbender2x02_0837.jpg
Sokka shielding Katara with his body to protect her from the third AVATAR (twice this episode): https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/205/images/avatar-the-last-airbender2x05_1337.jpg
Sokka attacking the goddamn SPIRIT to protect Katara: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/210/images/avatar-the-last-airbender2x10_1588.jpg
Sokka jumping in front of Katara to protect her from angry villagers: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/303/images/avatar3x03_1424.jpg
Sokka shielding Katara with his body during the attack of an almost invincible combustionbender: https://s3.us-west-1.wasabisys.com/cap-that.com/tv/avatar/312/images/avatar3x12_1119.jpg
So, apparently, this all is fine, a normal sibling relationship. But imagine Sokka protecting Katara by jumping between her and a lightning... and THIS will look incestous... because a normal brother will ONLY do this for his sister if he wants to fuck her... right?
rIGHT, ZVTARIANS?
Zutarians LOVE insisting that any moment between Zuko and Katara MUST be inherently romantic in nature. It doesn't matter if they're talking about a hug, a big sacrifice, a fight, saying hello to each other, sitting next to each other while having lunch with their friends, teaming up during a fight, it WILL be talked about like it's something only love interest could do, even if we have tons of exemples of them doing all of those things with other characters that they don't have any kind of romantic feelings for.
And it would have been fine for them LIKE those moments and want to interpret them with shipper goggles, or adding them to their fanfics, or making fanart of it. But they are not happy with that. They need EVERYONE to look at it the same way the do - and as a bonus, expect those minor things to replace explicitly romantic moment between Katara and Aang, or Mai and Zuko.

Do you have a picture of the stained glass from the scene with Knox and Satu in a better resolution? THank you in advance
Hi Anon,
I’m sorry it took a while to get back to you. Unfortunately, I haven’t been on this blog very much recently.
In my original post about Satu and Knox I had an image of the stained glass window that was the best resolution I could get at the time (with some enhancement). Here it is below:
So I checked cap-that.com to see if they had any higher resolution screencaps that showed the stained glass window in episodes 302 and 303.
Below is a a section of a screencap from cap-that.com. The left image is untouched. The one on the right is the same image but enhanced and clarified:
Here’s a larger version of the enhanced section of the same screencap.
Below is a different view of the stained glass window from a section of another screencap from cap-that.com. The left image is untouched. The one on the right is the same image but enhanced and clarified:
Here’s a larger enhanced version of the same section of the screencap.
I hope that this is what you’re looking for anon. If none of those images are what you want, you can go to cap-that.com yourself and use these links for episodes 302 and 303 to find a better screencap of the window for your needs.
I wish you luck in finding what you are looking for anon!
