"Inclusivity" and "Inclusive spaces" are becoming VERY particular and specific...which is LITERALLY the exact opposite of being inclusive... 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
queer people on this site really make me feel like a confused straight guy at pride. the discourse here could kill a man

David Tennant interview at the British LGBT Awards, June 2024 (x)
Int: You being an ally to the community isn't something new. You've been doing it, but recently you've obviously really stepped up for trans and non-binary people in a time that's so, so needed. What made you do that?
David: I don't know that I feel like I've done anything that I wouldn't just sort of be normally doing. I mean, it's for me it's just common sense that there's there should be any suggestion that people aren't allowed to live the life they want to live and and to be who they want to be with and to express themselves wholeheartedly. I mean, as long as you aren't hurting anybody else, everybody else just needs to fucking butt out. I don't really understand why...
Int: ...it's controversial.
David: Yeah, there is and the thing... the thing, if there's something that's particularly sobering and depressing, it's that certain debates are being weaponized by certain elements of the political class, often for no... it seems it's not ideological so much as opportunistic. And I just think that's pretty disgusting, really.
Int: I couldn't agree more. What message would you like to send out to trans youth?
David: Please don't feel like you're not loved and that you're not accepted and that you're not... you know, most people in the world are good and kind and just want you to be able to be who you are. Most people in the world don't really care. I mean... you know what I mean?
Int: We're all narcissistic.
David: Exactly. Everyone's so self obsessed that really, the sort of noise that comes from a certain area of the press and of the political class is... it's a minority. It really is. And please don't let that make you feel diminished or dissuaded or discouraged, because, you know, you just... you have to be allowed to be yourself, and you are, and you are yourself and you must thrive and flourish, and we're all here for it.
Int: Amazing. I think, yeah, it's so important .I think sometimes it feels like there's so many people, but it is a minority. It's such a minority.
David: It's a tiny bunch of little whinging fuckers that are on the wrong side of history and they'll all go away soon.
Int: Like what happened with gay people 20 years ago.
David: When I was a kid, when I was a kid, exactly. You know, I was at school when Clause 28 came in and it all felt like being gay was something to be terrified of. And gay men in particular were demonised as paedophiles and now that just feels historic and ludicrous and, I mean, I don't see all those... all those battles aren't won, but we're in a very, very different place. And I feel like.I feel like history is on a progressive trajectory and it might get knocked sideways now and again by people for all sorts of reasons, which are often quite selfish and quite, as I say, not coming from a place of any sort of genuine belief system, but other than a place of opportunism. And that's something that we... I hope that in 20 years time, we're talking about, you know, these culture wars as something of the past.
Int: I believe we will. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, so.
David: Oh, good, me too!
Int: You are my Doctor.
David: Oh, thank you very much.
Int: But recently, obviously, you came back for the 60th anniversary and you got to work with Yasmin Finney.
David: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Int: What was it like working with her?
David: Oh, she's brilliant. She's fantastic. Yeah. And she's in the show again now, she's back in it, so that's fantastic to see. She's lovely, talented, cool as a cucumber, articulate, brilliant. I learned a lot from her as an actor and also as someone who, you know, who's become a sort of de facto activist just because of who she is and where she is, and she becomes a sort of symbol of hope, and she's wonderful.

As a straight, sex positive (as in, I read sex, watch sex, write sex, think about sex, and even get off by myself, BUT I DON'T WANT TO ACTUALLY HAVE IT, but I am attracted to men, and I'm a woman) asexual, I often feel...like I don't belong. Like, ANYWHERE. Because I don't "fit" the "standards" of what asexuality should be, or something. Because I am, essentially, a straight woman, WHO DOESN'T EVER WANT TO HAVE SEX.
So FUCK YES, I feel misunderstood, lonely, and like I have to hide who and what I am. And, trust me, I have enough of that, in my life.
I'M DOING AN EXPERIMENT
To prove something to a friend, please

Three years ago, russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. russia started unprovoked war. A genocide (not the first one in our history) against Ukrainians. The only reason I can still run this blog is because of the people who gave their lives in the fight against the russian invasion. These men and women, and trans people, and non-binary people (yes, all of the LGBTQA+ spectrum as well, they're fighting too, in case you didn't know) are true heroes for me. These words though sounds shallow and not enough to express the scales of my gratitude. Like literally someone died for me to live and still enjoy Simming.
I used to suffer from the deep depression, I had suicidal thoughts. Not any more. Now that I know russians want me dead and silent, now that I know so many people (and not just Ukrainians, foreigners as well, those volunteers who joined Ukrainian army) are sacrificing  their lives for me to wake up every morning - I have no moral right to give up.
Ukraine now is fighting the tirany, stands for democratic values many countries failed to simply vote for. So I'm asking you to stand on the right side of the history. If you're a foreigner, please consider donating to United24. If you're Ukrainian... You know whom to donate.

This is probably because I grew up watching 24/7 animal planet, but what finally made the allo/aplatonic thing click for me were the nature's of big cats.
Lions are powerful, regal creatures who are uniquely adapted to pack life. They need these connections to live a healthy life; A lonely lion is a miserable creature indeed.
Jaguars are solitary, beautiful creatures who live happily solitary. They prowl their lush world with self-sufficient majesty. A jaguar is not lonely without a pack. In fact, forcing jaguars to share space with others they do not enjoy is just as damaging as forcing a lion to live alone.
A lion may choose to head out on it's own for the most part, but in the end must return to the pack to thrive. A jaguar can choose to trust and enjoy the company of others, but they never feel the need to form a pack.
Is a jaguar selfish for this? A psychopath, a narcissist or any other such horrid assumptions? Is it a less moral creature than a lion, who seeks others like it to thrive?
Is a lion pathetic, or needy, or selfish for wanting community? For requiring contact with others like they require water? For their inherent need to string complicated webs of relationships that may seem silly or dramatic to others?
Of course not. These are ridiculous questions to even ask.
They are simply lions and jaguars.
In fact, is a jaguar that chooses to spend time with you not as magical as a lion's love? For a creature that needs no bond to thrive to still enjoy your presence enough to share it a time? Is a lion who can prowl the night alone not impressive in its strength and resilience? Is it not awe-inspiring in its ability to conquer a life it was never wired for and reign still?
Are they not both beautiful and awe-inspiring in their own ways, without being wrong?
Alloplatonics. Aplatonics. Are we not both special and beautiful in both our bonds and self-confident happiness equal, in each our ways? Is there not unique beauty in lifelong bonded packs and magical encounters that need no perpetuity to carry life forward?
Are we not but lions and jaguars? Neither wrong, neither selfish, but just different and beautiful creatures in each our ways?
That's how I've come to see it, anyway.

"Zoomers are reinventing gender essentialism!" I assure you they did not need to reinvent it; it is alive and well in the society they have been raised in. They just haven't had the time and life experience we have to begin unlearning it. Be patient with the Youths even when they're annoying you, they are also stuck living in a society they didn't choose, and I'm willing to bet that even the most progressive of us queer adults have at some point repeated some bad discourse we thought sounded reasonable at the time.
And idk, blaming young people for a very very old problem isn't a very useful or accurate or compassionate take I don't think.
