Okay, so I need to expand my convention stall print selection as a matter of vague urgency because my current stuff is reaching the end of its useful lifespan (the joys of a small con scene and a lot of familiar faces in the customers who've already bought all they're going to buy), so
The current mile long to-draw list for the sake of creating some accountability (bolded are the most immediate priority):
Kirk, Spock, probably also McCoy
The rest of the Trek captains from the shows I've watched (Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer, Pike, Burnham?? I haven't gotten far enough in Discovery for her to be captain yet but I'm assuming she is eventually)
Assorted other popular Trek characters, eventually (if you've got suggestions, Please let me know, there's 500 of these people and narrowing it down is hard)
Luke, Leia, Han
I Really can't be bothered but I know Maul, Dooku, Sidious and Vader would be popular so eventually I'm just going to have to suck it up and draw some characters I hate
Something clone troopers (I have it on good authority that there's basically no merch for clone fans)
Torchwood team (portraits, like the Doctors print I've already got)
14th and 15th Doctor (or whatever they're called) to update Doctors print
NuWho companions? At least Rose, Martha, Donna, Amy, Clara, Bill
9th Doctor, Rose and Jack group shot
Something Hot Fuzz
Something Kingsman (Eggsy and Galahad, probably)
Something Pacific Rim (currently thinking maybe three somethings? Newt & Hermann, Mako & Raleigh, Pentecost and the cancelling the apocalypse line)
Judge Dredd and Anderson from Dredd
All nine of the Fellowship of the Ring, brown paper, which is going to take forever but should be worth it because they're all popular and also I love them all, probably eventually also Eowyn and Faramir and Bilbo
The daft local in-joke Nazghul thing (there's this mounted statue of Wellington in Glasgow that always has a traffic cone on its head so I'm redrawing it as a Nazghul because I think that's funny)
Something Firefly
Roy Kent, because I've got a Ted Lasso and he's the main character people are always asking after
Something DnD movie?
And probably a dozen other things but that's enough for now
I'm trying to mainly stick to old, established fandoms and movies/series that I genuinely like that are cult-classic-y enough that they're consistently popular, because I'm fed up of how quickly The Current Popular Thing fades these days. I've done well out of drawing stuff that'll appeal to the Queer Cartoon-Watching Teens, but they're a fickle audience and getting less reliable so time to target the staple fandoms instead.
And then there's also the other list which is stuff that's mostly for my own entertainment but will probably do decently well, just not enough to be a priority right now:
A few more RWBY characters on coloured paper to expand that set (at least Penny, Nora, Ren, Jaune, Oscar)
A DCTV Flash and Reverse Flash pair of prints on red and yellow paper respectively
Something Rivers of London
An updated set of brown paper FMA art
Arcane stuff (will be higher priority when the next season is closer, but for now no one is paying it any attention)
The trio from The Marvels
Eda, Luz, King and Hooty group shot (this one should probably be on the other list, but it's down here for now because I've already got Owl House prints and right now I need to go for breadth of fandoms rather than expanding within what I've already got)
That Captain America set of four with limit colours idea that I've had for ages (Steve, Bucky, Sam, Peggy)
More brown paper Jedi (current top of the list are Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti)
A print of the main duo from The Untamed (got badges already)
Etc etc
Can you see why I never get anything done, too-many-choices choice paralysis is A Nightmare
The current plan is to start with the Star Trek stuff, because that's going to be portraits and I can do those in my sleep. If I can get Kirk and Spock done, that's a solid start. The Torchwood team print is also small portraits, so that's potentially doable as well, and a good shout for my next event since it's an 18+ evening con so the audience will be a bit different to usual. (I'm intrigued about this con, I don't know how it's going to go, but the idea of an adults-only event where artists can sell All their stuff rather than sticking to kid-friendly is a good one even if that's not going to affect my own stock at all. Shame it's the same weekend and in the same city as a big established con that I got wait-listed for which I'm still mad about because I Kinda Need The Money, but what can you do.)
I've got that con the weekend after next which means I've got until Monday night at the latest to get things finished if I want them with the print shop by Tuesday morning. Then I can work on the two extra Doctors and maybe some companions, because those will be badges and I make those myself. And that's as far in the future as it's worth thinking right now, let's just take this a couple of weeks at a time and maybe my brain will stop stalling over having too much to do and no way to narrow it down

I was watching an episode of Face Off where they made alien beauty pageant queens and this came to mind. You decide who will win, though I think Jannah might be the winner. (I’m going to say that the other contestants are Bazine Netal, Omera, Padme, Leia, Sabine, and Ahsoka. Sabine didn’t want to do it.)
Welcome to the Miss Galaxy Pageant! All of these ladies are being mentored by last year’s winner, Maz Kanata, who represented Takodana. And here are some of the contestants now!
Meet Miss Hays Minor. She is a skilled mechanic who plans on opening her own workshop and helping people throughout the galaxy. Her hobbies include tinkering, collecting scrunchies, and riding fathiers. She even has a mini porg sanctuary inhabited by her feathered friends from Ahch-To, many of whom she has named. She’s also looking for a potential Miss Right, but for now she’s focusing on her current career as a member of the Resistance. Say hello to Miss Hays Minor!
Meet Miss Kef Bir. New to the pageant scene, she wanted to participate in order to try something new. In her spare time, she likes to swim, work with the Resistance, and is a skilled archer. Her dream is to provide aid to anyone who defected from the First Order as well as to enjoy her independence. She would also like to try her hand at fostering tooka kittens. Say hello to Miss Kef Bir!
Meet Miss Parnassos. She grew up on a planet ravaged by the ConStar Mining Company, which has shown her resilience and how to adapt. She is in charge of a battalion of stormtroopers and is quite the taskmistress. Her greatest desire is to become Supreme Empress of the Galaxy and to keep leading her army of stormtroopers. Her hobbies include drilling her troops, metal craft, singing, and seducing generals. Say hello to Miss Parnassos!
Meet Miss Nunya Jakku. Miss Jakku is, in her own words, an absolute newcomer to pageants. She is skilled in the Force, and her greatest dream is to be an eventual Jedi. In her spare time, she enjoys scavenging for things to upcycle, enjoying all sorts of snacks, and going on dates with that cute former stormtrooper who is also a Jedi like her. Say hello to Miss Jakku!

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 036 - Sleeping Beauty
Star Trek: Enterprise - Season 2 Episode 11 - Precious Cargo
Tumblr media
Hey, I didn't know trip had musical talent! Anyways, his harmonica jamming session got interrupted by the episode's plot. Some freighter carrying a passenger is Stasis is having life support issues.
The Crew of this freighter "carrying a young woman in suspended animation to her homeworld" is a red flag for me, so I was really suspicious of these cargo pilots throughout. Especially when they start decline Archer's offer to carry them to their destination much faster. And my suspicions are confirmed just get worse when she starts to panic after waking up. They also knock out Trip and Start firing at the Enterprise's security crew.
We got a small space chase which was fun, but and had some clever tactics, like The Cargo ship dumping a gas cloud to prevent enterprise jumping to warp.
The scenes with trip being unable to communicate with Kaitaama were great. It was a really interesting situation, and I wish it wasn't resolved so quickly, it would have made for a really interesting situation. But Trip finds his universal translator and the episode moves on.
I don't know if the Kaitaama's monotone voice was a deliberate acting choice or not, but it kinda got ear grating quickly. The episode tries to set up a kind of Han Solo and Princess Leia dynamic between Trip and Kaitaama, but honestly I'm not buying it.
From here on out, the episode is mainly focussed on Trip and Kaitaama's escape with occasional cut backs to the Enterprise trying to locate them, and putting their captive cargo pilot on mock trial. Archer building up T'Pol as some sort of Tyrannical monster to intimidate him into revealing the Warp Frequency of the cargo ship was funny.
As part of their escape, Trip and Kaitaama end up crashing down on a jungle planet, and having to pool their resources for some jungle survival, but it really only served as an excuse to have them argue, and their kiss doesn't really feel earned.
This episode was alright, but also wasn't great. There wasn't really any stand out character work or performances, but I wouldn't call it a bad episode either. I've definitely seen better from this series though.

"archer, get back here!" ben sighed, running his hand over his face. he never should have let him off - he'd been a menace lately, it was probably all of the changes going on. but what he didn't expect was for archer to be running in circles around his mom - who didn't remember anyone. "I'm really sorry about him - he's overly friendly with everyone," he gave her a small, slightly forced smile as he pulled archer back with the handle of his harness to clip the leach onto it.

“Bunny Mode” and the Joy of Being Seen in a World That’s Burning Out
Tumblr media
On the surface, it’s just two Huskies — Archer and Leia — hopping around in “bunny mode” because their human called them “good dogs.” But behind those airborne paws and wiggly butts is something we’re all aching for right now: the joy of being truly seen. At a time when burnout is the cultural baseline and attention feels transactional, this viral video is more than just a serotonin boost. It’s a howl-sized reminder of what wholehearted connection looks like — and why we need it now more than ever.
In the now-viral Instagram reel posted by @siberianderpskies, two Siberian Huskies launch into full bunny-mode bliss when their owner showers them with love. It starts innocently enough — a paw on the back, a jealous glance, and then Archer, the more animated of the two, explodes into a series of joyful hops like a caffeinated jackrabbit. The trigger? Being told he’s a “good boy.” Meanwhile, Leia sits nearby, a cool queen on her couch throne, absorbing the chaos like a seasoned older sibling.
There’s no trick, no treat prompt, no performance expectation. Just pure canine glee in response to being noticed and loved. The owner gives both pups affirmation, cookies, and the kind of gentle praise that feels more like a hug than a command. He ends the video with: “You’re perfect. Don’t ever change.”
Cue the emotional floodgates.
Because let’s be real — when’s the last time someone told you that you were perfect, just as you are?
“Bunny mode” might be new internet slang, but the emotional undercurrent it taps into isn’t: the universal, biological hunger to be affirmed. In dogs, that looks like Archer turning into a literal hop tornado when he’s told he’s loved. In humans? It’s more subtle — or buried. But it’s just as primal.
As we limp into May 2025, people are burned out, under-validated, and quietly desperate for real connection. A January APA report found that 62% of adults in the U.S. feel chronically undervalued at work or at home. And social media — originally designed to connect us — now often leaves us feeling more seen through than seen for.
That’s why this video hit a nerve. It doesn’t just show love, it models it. The owner isn't training his dogs or trying to monetize their behavior. He’s responding to them. He’s in the moment with them. It’s unfiltered. It’s mutual. It’s intimate in a way that reminds us that affection doesn’t have to be earned — sometimes it just is.
There’s a reason why dog videos like this go viral while major news stories slide off the public consciousness in hours. Because animals, especially dogs, give us a safe space to experience emotional truths without the baggage. They model trust, vulnerability, and joy in its most unvarnished form. We can project our needs onto them without shame.
But “bunny mode” doesn’t come from nowhere. It’s not a default setting — it’s a symptom of security. Archer doesn’t hop like that because he’s hyper; he hops like that because he trusts his human completely. That kind of exuberance is only possible when there’s a foundation of unconditional safety.
Which raises the question: what does “bunny mode” look like for us? And how many of us feel safe enough to even try?
We’re in an era where emotional burnout isn’t just a private struggle — it’s public policy. Teachers, nurses, caregivers, and yes, even parents (hello, moms scrolling Facebook between drop-offs), are told to do more with less, constantly. Praise is a scarcity. Rest is guilt-ridden. Joy feels indulgent.
So watching a dog literally bounce with happiness because someone told him he was good? That’s more than cute. It’s revolutionary.
Let’s talk about moms for a second. She’s managing a thousand invisible tasks. She’s default parent, default emotional support, default everything. She rarely gets to bunny-hop.
So when she sees a dog break into pure excitement because he’s finally seen and affirmed, it hits. Hard.
There’s a parenting metaphor here too. The way the owner talks to Archer and Leia — individually, intentionally, based on their different personalities — mirrors what we try to do with our kids. Archer needs the enthusiastic, repetitive praise. Leia, calm and composed, needs eye contact and quiet assurance. There’s wisdom in that, and also a tiny pang of guilt. How often do we affirm our kids like that? How often do we affirm ourselves?
This isn’t just a feel-good dog moment. It’s a cultural cue. “Bunny mode” isn’t the punchline — it’s the aspiration. In a world that demands constant productivity, the joy of being seen and loved just as we are isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
So here’s the call to action, not just for your fingers but for your heart: Be the human that calls someone else a “good boy.” Praise your kid for existing, not just for behaving. Compliment your friend for being your friend. And yes, pet your dog like they’re made of magic — because in a way, they are.
And when you see someone else bounce into bunny mode? Don’t roll your eyes. Cheer them on. We all need a little bounce.
