Summary:

“The way Jayce’s grin split his face when he accepted the glass soothed his stinging ego, and then some. He eyed the strange liquor. There was an iridescence to it when the light caught at a certain angle. It was smooth on his tongue and nearly painful in its sweetness, with notes of spiced vanilla and anise that buried the burn he’d long associated with alcohol. It was much better than the champagne. He almost felt bad for accepting it.” Viktor allows Jayce to drag him to a gala celebrating the new Hexgates. It goes about as well as he feared given Piltover’s prejudices toward people from the Undercity, his own worsening health, and all of the beautiful guests vying for Jayce’s attention. Then, he accepts a drink that was meant for Jayce and things get even worse.

i feel like larian did kind of shoot themselves in the foot wrt trying to give ascended astarion/god gale romancers satisfying happy endings in the epilogue when those are also like, unambiguously the Bad Ends of their character arcs. like i do think there's a desire to Make The Fans Happy that is actively at the expense of . good writing or just meaningfully improving the game

Currently filled with many Rain Code thoughts but unfortunately I can't elaborate on them much right now because school is kicking my ass.

Some Vague Thoughts of Mine:

Vivia's line about the cracks in the mirror and how that relates to Ch5's ML

Vivia being on the angel side of the Mystery Phantom that one time

Vivia and Yuma fighting in the NDA vs Makoto and Yuma fighting outside of their "homes"

Honestly, practically anything related to Ch4 and Ch5 in general

Something about Yuma's cape's hand pointing down and falling in the Mystery Labyrinth and being on the ground while Makoto is up in the skies and presumably his hand pointing up at Yuma in the game poster. The Sky and The Ground. Hell and Heaven. The Untouchable and The Touched

Clear Skies vs Rain. Fire vs Rain. Makoto is filled with opposing themes/symbolisms that he puts Duality itself to shame

Does the Mystery Labyrinth require the mystery to be a unnatural death to "justify" the reaping of the culprit's soul? Something something "Surging bloodlust" and how Ch3's killer may not have fucked up if he didn't kill Shachi and how Kanai Ward's Ultimate Secret might've just became a Mystery Labyrinth Shinigami/Yuma can solve/access cuz of the procurement of the "Ingredients"

idk if this is because they didn't write a variant of the avernus ending with illithid!tav in mind or what. but FASCINATING to me that wyll does not seem to have ANY of his reservations about illithid!tav if they've spent the past months with karlach in avernus
