ˇ ⋆ ╱ sleeping - c. sturniolo
a/n ; THIS SONG. GIGI I LOVE YOU
wc ; 1k+

i should be sleeping.
the room is quiet, the kind of quiet that makes you feel like your own thoughts are screaming. the fan overhead hums a low, lazy rhythm and the streetlight outside chris’s window casts soft shadows against the wall. the glow slips through the blinds and lands in broken lines across the bed. it’s the kind of night that feels suspended, like time’s holding its breath.
chris is lying beside me, close but not touching. always close, but never quite close enough. his back is to me, shoulders rising and falling slowly beneath the worn fabric of his t-shirt. i can’t see his face, but i know he's awake. i can feel it in the way his body tenses every now and then. he’s not sleeping either. he just doesn’t want to admit it.
neither of us do.
this bed is starting to feel like purgatory. a place between being wanted and being forgotten.
i stare at the ceiling. my mind replays the same thoughts, the same questions, looping over and over like a song i don’t know how to turn off.
we shouldn't be here. not like this.
but i don’t move. and neither does he.
“i can’t sleep,” i whisper into the dark. my voice barely audible, like if i say it too loud, it might shatter whatever fragile thing we’re still clinging to.
he doesn’t respond at first. i wonder if he’s pretending again. pretending he’s already drifted off, that he didn’t hear me, that this isn’t happening. that we aren’t happening.
but then his voice comes, low and rough. “i know.”
just that. two words, and somehow they feel heavier than silence.
i shift onto my side, trying to read him. “why do we do this?”
chris turns slightly, just enough that i can catch the side of his face. his profile is outlined by the light, sharp and soft all at once. “do what?”
“this,” i gesture vaguely between us. “be together when we’re not really… together.”
he sighs, the kind of sigh that feels older than it should. “i don’t know. maybe it’s easier than being alone.”
his honesty stings. not because it isn’t true—but because it is. being here with him feels like pretending the loneliness isn’t real. like if we just lie close enough, maybe it’ll fill the space we can’t seem to name.
but I’m tired of pretending.
“do you ever think about what this even is?” i ask.
chris’s jaw tightens for a second. he runs a hand through his hair, fingers pausing near the back of his neck like he’s trying to anchor himself to something. “yeah,” he says finally. “i think about it more than i want to.”
“then why don’t we talk about it?”
he laughs under his breath, and it’s not a happy sound. “because talking makes it real.”
i sit up, folding my legs beneath me. my heart feels heavy in my chest. “and this isn’t real?”
he looks up at me then. his eyes are darker in the dim light, shadows dancing across his face. there’s something haunted in them. something tired.
“i don’t know what this is,” he says. “i just know it’s not simple.”
i press my lips together. i want to scream. i want to cry. i want to shake him and ask why he pulls me in just to keep me at arm’s length. why he makes me feel like maybe i'm the only one who sees the cracks—then acts like he’s already fallen through them.
but i don’t do any of that.
because i get it. he’s scared. so am i.
chris shifts and sits up beside me, our knees almost touching. he glances over, his voice quieter now. “you know i care about you, right?”
i nod. “but that’s not enough.”
“i know.”
we sit in silence, and i can feel the weight of everything we’ve never said pressing down on us. i wish he would just say it—that he loves me. that he’s afraid. that maybe he doesn’t know how to love someone without breaking them in the process.
instead, he says, “you’re gonna leave eventually.”
the words hang there like smoke in the air.
i look at him, stunned. “what?”
“you’ll get tired of this. of me. of… not being enough.”
my chest tightens. “chris, i'm already tired. but not of you. i'm tired of pretending like this doesn’t matter.”
his eyes meet mine, and i see something flicker—regret, maybe. or longing. i can’t tell which hurts more.
“i don’t know how to be what you need,” he says quietly.
“i’m not asking for perfect,” i whisper. “i'm asking for honest. i’m asking for real.”
chris reaches out then, fingers brushing lightly against mine. it’s the smallest touch, but it sends a jolt through me, like maybe we’re still alive in this mess.
“i'm trying,” he says. “even if it doesn’t look like it.”
we stay like that for a while. not kissing. not crying. just… being. two people tangled in a feeling too big to name, too fragile to hold.
eventually, he lies back down and pulls me with him. this time, he doesn’t face away. he wraps an arm around me, pulling me close. his hand settles on my back, warm and steady.
“i don’t want to lose you,” he murmurs against my hair.
“you don’t have to,” i say. “you just have to choose me.”
the silence that follows isn’t empty. it’s filled with something that almost feels like hope.
maybe tomorrow, he’ll wake up and stay. maybe next time, we won’t be sleeping next to each other, pretending not to feel anything. maybe one day, we’ll stop living in the maybe.
but tonight— tonight, i close my eyes in his arms and pretend it’s enough. even if we’re only half-awake. even if we’re still floating just shy of falling.
and in the quiet, in the warmth of his skin against mine, i let myself believe—
that love doesn’t always need to be loud to be real. sometimes, it whispers. sometimes, it lingers in the space between sleep and waking. sometimes, it’s just this.
chris. me. and the almosts we keep pretending are enough.

Session 32 -suguru geto

SYN★ Suguru only ever shows up after midnight — no calls, no promises, just silence and skin. You keep letting him in, hoping he’ll finally say what he really feels. One night, you press him for honesty. What he gives you is raw, aching truth… but maybe not the kind you needed.
cw — MDNI ★ angst, post traumatic behavior, sexual content (implied), toxic relationship, emotional manipulation, & co-dependency.
(If you guys want a part two with a happy ending or to just leave it right here, lmk I’ll tag you).
It wasn’t always like this with you and Suguru.
Him showing up at your door randomly past midnight. The same black hoodie he probably had hanging in his closet just for this occasion. He was taller than you remember, and his eyes were heavy like he might not have slept in days.
The both of you take your time, staring each other down, more tension there than there were any words could speak.
“..can I come in?” His voice gruff, calm, relaxed, and unreadable as always. No greeting, always straight to the point.
You step aside with no hesitation, wordless. Because no matter how you hated it—hated him, hated how much it hurt, you always let him in.
And as you two sat on your couch, end to end, neither of you talked. You never did.
He sat on the couch, quiet, and watched the flicker of your candle lit in the middle of your coffee table. You watched him, watching nothing. Just breathing in the stillness between you as if it might say something, anything, that he wouldn’t. But it didn’t.
“You only come around when it’s late ya know,” you finally say something, wishing it came out as a mumble, curled into yourself across from him.
His eyes flicker toward you, lingering for just a moment longer. “That bother you?” His tone carrying some kind of concern.
You don’t answer immediately, just looking at him before your uncurling yourself, sitting against the couch normally with your arms crossed.
A sigh escapes your lips. “No. I just find it funny. You talk about caring but you never do it yourself.” But then you regret the words that come out of your mouth. Silence filling the space once again as he leans back against the couch with a faint sigh.
He almost spoke, wanting to protest. You could tell, but he held his tongue, just taking in your words.
You’re not sure how things even went down next. One minute there’s space between the two of you, then the next, there’s none.
His lips were on you, slow like an apology, like a confession. His way of saying ‘I love you but I know how this’ll end, because of me.’ Or at least that’s what you wanted to infer.
But you knew he meant it. The way his hands trembled slightly when he held your face, the way his lashes fluttered when he leaned in to kiss you prior, it was all Suguru.
He could show you how he felt more than he could tell you.
And just like every other time, you let yourself fall into him. Let yourself pretend this meant so much more than comfort. That this was his way of claiming you for once. That he was staying this time. That he’d finally say what he never had the guts to.
But when it was all over, you felt it again; emptiness.
He laid beside you in the dark, on the bed he carried the both of you toward in the midst of kissing, shirtless and bare, your heart on the floor once again.
You let out a shaky exhale, staring at the ceiling. “You don’t even like me anymore, ‘guru,” you speak into the silence, eyes focused on the fan on the ceiling.
He didn’t answer right away, swallowing whatever initial reply he was going to make. You listen to him take a deep breath, slow, as if it hurt.
“That’s not true.”
“Then say something, anything, that proves it. Please.”
You turn your head toward him, his profile sharp in the low light, but his eyes looked softer now. Sadder.
The way he chewed on his bottom lip for a moment, you knew he wasn’t going to say what he wished. He never did.
“I never..” he hesitated for a second, catching himself. “I never wanted us to be what we’ve become.”
“..why you keep coming back then? Entertaining it.”
He closed his eyes before looking at you again, his eyes glossier than before. “Because I don’t know how to let you go.”
You sat up, the cold hitting your back as you held the sheets up to your chest, looking down at him. “But that’s not love, Suguru. That’s a habit. One you just can’t seem to let go. It’s guilt.” He followed you with his eyes, not moving.
He nods, humming. “Maybe. But it’s the only thing I have left that feels real. That keeps me grounded.”
You wanted to scream. Cry, kick, kiss him again, all of it. But instead, a faint whisper fell from your lips. “Then..say what you mean Suguru..”
He sat up too, his hair falling gracefully back onto his shoulders, and his bare chest rising and falling like the weight from it all might crush him completely. He looked at you like he used to—back when you both were younger. Softer, and still believed in stupid shit like forever.
“I miss you everyday, y/n.” He admitted, his hand grazing your cheek calmly this time. “But I don’t deserve you. And I don’t know if I ever did.”
And just within a few breaths—the air changed.
Because you knew it was the truth. And it was never enough no matter how many times you fed it to yourself.
You watched as he got dressed in silence, hoodie back over his head once again. His scent still lingering in your sheets, and your heart still in his hands.
“Will you come back?” You asked, even though you despised yourself for even thinking to ask.
Suguru just looked down at you like he wanted to say no, but deep down, he knew he’d always pick you. “Yeah.”
And you let him leave, out of your grasp once again.
But nth times a charm, right?

ꜰᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴇᴛᴛᴇʀ | ᴄ.ꜱ. |

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴛᴡᴇʟᴠᴇ
series masterlist here
summary: Eleanor moves through the world like a shadow searching for light, and Chris burns too brightly, as if trying to outshine a buried grief. When they collide on a night filled with a mutual self-loathing, something quiet but insistent begins to grow between them — a pull that they never dare speak of, yet orbit in harmony nonetheless. Their bond deepens quickly, shaped by vulnerability, near-misses, and the ache of things left unsaid. As their lives pull and blur at the edges, they learn that what they are for one another in the moment may matter more than how it ends.
warnings (throughout the series): smut; angst; addiction; family trauma; depression; heavy drinking; mentions of death; mentions of abuse; 18+
The door swung open before he could knock. Claire stood there, framed by the warm spill of light from the apartment behind her; her lips glossed and mischievous. There was something almost insolent in her smile, as if she knew a secret that made the moment dangerous.
“Freak show finally made it,” She said, smiling in a way that almost felt dirty.
“Blame Nick,” Chris muttered, stepping inside as Nick and Matt followed, “He made us stop at the store to buy a pie.”
Nick hoisted the pie tin up like a trophy, “It’s not Thanksgiving without pecan, okay? And I was worried y’all wouldn’t have any. Sorry that some of us have taste.”
Matt grunted, “You have taste in being late.”
Claire laughed, her wine sloshing in its glass as she stepped back to let them pass. The cozy apartment smelled like sage, brown butter, and something sweet roasting in the oven. The space was humid with life, dimly lit by a dozen flickering candles someone had artfully scattered across counters and windowsills.
Chris’s eyes searched too quickly, the way they always did when Eleanor was near. He caught the sweep of her profile near the table — features softened by the warm light with her head bent in conversation with Grant. She laughed at something he said, and then, in what seemed like a psychic moment, looked up; the sound caught in her throat when she saw Chris. It was no more than a second, but it lingered, heavy with something unspoken.
“Shoes off, please,” Claire called as she hurried into the kitchen, “We have a strict no-sock-shaming policy tonight.”
They scattered — Nick and Matt heading to the living room to introduce themselves to people, and Chris followed Claire with an uncertain heartbeat — a heartbeat that quickened at the thought of Eleanor’s nearness.
By the time dinner was ready, everyone had crammed around the small makeshift table like the mismatched cast of a low-budget play. Folding chairs scraped against hardwood. Knees bumped. The ceiling fan spun slow above them like it, too, was trying to make sense of the mood.
Eleanor sat down across from Chris, he could tell even without letting his eyes lift from the food in front of him — could feel his body melt in her direction. But then, Grant slipped into the seat to her right, and a coldness crept up his spine. Matt sat on Chris’s right, silent and steady. Claire bounded into the seat on Chris’s left; her thigh brushing against his, the contact both electric and deliberate. Nick sat beside her, and the rest of the roommates’ friends took up the rest of the seats.
He couldn’t tell if he was sweating from the number of bodies in the room, or if it was something else.
Nick raised his glass — sparkling cider bubbling over the rim. “To stuffing our faces and making poor choices.”
Everyone laughed and clinked whatever glasses they could reach.
“Some of us are making excellent choices tonight,” Said Grant smoothly, reaching for Eleanor’s hand on the table. Chris’s eyes pulled away before he saw whether or not she took it.
Conversation bloomed in every direction. Stella was talking about a guy she was seeing who didn’t know how to cook rice. Mitch made an impassioned speech about sweet potato pie being superior to pecan pie, which Nick argued against loudly. Raquel giggled, a little too freely, into her wine.
Chris sat quietly in the middle of it all, chewing on a piece of turkey until it became indistinguishable goo in his mouth; watching Eleanor out of the corner of his eye without meaning to. Her hair was pulled back tonight, a few strands slipping free near her temple. She was leaning in toward Grant, eyes shining with practiced laughter, but there was something about the shape of her smile that made Chris’s chest ache — like hearing a song you love playing in the next room.
Claire leaned in beside him, close enough that he could smell the citrus edge of her perfume — something bright and dry. She nudged his knee with hers.
“I’m detecting a pattern here — you always this quiet when you’re fed?” She asked, her voice soft beneath the other chatter.
“Just digesting,” He said, “My thoughts.”
She smirked. “Your mental metabolism must be slow as fuck, then.”
“I’m just trying to enjoy the moment.”
“Hmm, very mysterious today.”
He stabbed at the cranberry sauce on his plate. The jelly wobbled repulsively. “Nah, I’m an open book.”
“If that’s the case, I think you need a better editor.”
He turned, met her gaze. Her tone was light but her green eyes held still — too still. There was something about the way she looked at him that felt like being caught in the act of doing something very, very wrong.
Chris cleared his throat, “You do this often?”
“Do what?”
“Collect lonely guys.”
Claire laughed, leaning back in her chair just enough to let their knees stay touching. “Only when I’m bored.”
He tilted his head, a faint spark of familiar excitement warmed his insides, “And are you bored?”
Her wineglass hovered mid-air for a second before she took a slow sip, “Not yet.”
Conversation between them stilled for a few beats, the noise around them stretching to fill the space. Chris felt like he was suspended in something — not air, but heat. Claire’s shoulder brushed his as she reached for a roll. The warmth of it lingered.
And then she shifted closer, barely — her voice dipping with a sudden softness that caught him off guard, “You ever get tired of pretending you’re not thinking something just because it’s not totally right?”
He looked at her then. Her eyes weren’t accusing. Just curious. Open, but not vulnerable. But there was a kind of proposition in them that made his stomach tighten.
“Lately I’ve been trying not to think at all,” He admitted.
Claire smiled — a slow, dazzling thing that made his thoughts scramble. “I could help with that.”
The weight of her words landed before he could dodge them.
Her hand grazed the table, brushing his as she reached for the salt. Nothing deliberate, not exactly. But enough.
“I was thinking…” She began slowly, letting the words test the air between them, “If you’re not doing anything after this,”
He turned to her, caught in the hypnotic lull of her voice.
“You could stick around. After everyone’s gone,” She said, quieter now, “If you wanted, we could hang out.”
Chris’s stomach twisted. His eyes darted — unbidden, uncontrollable — across the table, straight to Eleanor.
She wasn’t looking at him. She was laughing at something Stella had said. Her hand, still linked with Grant’s, rested on the table in a silhouette reserved for Greek statues.
Claire noticed his gaze. Her tone was careful when she added, “I already talked to her. She said it’s fine.”
He didn’t answer right away, just kept his eyes on the table; the scrape of fork against plate louder than it should have been. Claire said nothing else, just let the silence spool out — not uncomfortable, but deliberate.
And Chris, caught between what he wanted and what he’d never admit to wanting, just nodded once.
But inside, the hum began — that old familiar ache of restlessness, of the hunger that ruled his life just a few short months ago. The same quiet engine that always revved when he needed a quick fuck.
It would be so easy.
To let himself fall into the rhythm of it — a girl, a body, a room dim enough to forget the parts of himself he couldn’t face right now. Claire was funny, sharp. She had handed him an invitation without pretence. Without asking him to bleed out on the floor first.
And Eleanor.
She hadn’t looked upset, not really. Maybe uncertain. Definitely distant. But she hadn’t flinched when Claire said his name, hadn’t even spoken a word to him since he walked through the door. In fact, she hadn’t done anything but pick at her food and nod up at Grant like Chris didn’t matter.
Like he never had.
The thought sliced through him faster than he was ready for. And with it, the heat came — shame tangled with anger, resentment warming like a hand on the back of his neck. If she didn’t care, then why should he?
He glanced over at her again, slower this time. She was laughing at something Raquel had said, her head resting against Grant’s plaid button up. She looked calm; content.
Beside him, Claire reached for her wine and sipped — eyes forward, face half-lit by the flickering candle on the table. Her thigh pressed lightly against his. Her hand lingered close enough that it felt like an invitation just to exist — no performance, no pain, no strings.
Chris swallowed.
His chest was tight, but his face stayed loose. He turned to Claire and leaned in a little closer, enough to match her intentions.
“Yeah,” He said, low, “I’ll stick around.”
He didn’t look at Eleanor again after that — couldn’t, for the fear that guilt would begin trickling up his spine was too prominent. But her presence remained anyway, like a book still open somewhere behind him — dog-eared, incomplete, and watching.
—
The laughter had begun to dull. Dishes were scraped, wine glasses were half-drunk and abandoned like afterthoughts on the crowded table. The candles had burned down to low nubs, wax puddling in quiet collapse. Somewhere in the corner, someone was the first to say goodbye. A coat was fetched. Then another.
The night was ending.
Chris stood near the kitchen, leaning against the counter with a glass of water that he hadn’t taken a sip from in over twenty minutes. Matt came up beside him, coat in hand, tapping his phone screen to check the time. The glow briefly lit up his face in a pale halo.
“You ready to head out?”
Chris didn’t answer right away. He watched Eleanor across the room, laughing softly into her wine at something Nick had said — though the sound didn’t quite reach her eyes. Then he glanced toward the hallway, where Claire was wrapping her arms around Raquel affectionately.
“I think I’m gonna hang back, actually,” Chris said eventually, voice low.
Matt didn’t say anything, just raised an eyebrow as he noticed who Chris’s eyes were glued to. There was no judgment in it — but something cautious passed between them, a shadow of past conversation still trailing behind.
Chris gave the smallest shrug, like it was no big deal, like it didn’t matter either way. “I’ll just Uber back home later,” He added, tossing Matt reassurance that only made himself feel better.
“Alright,” Matt said, slowly. Then, with that same dry understatement that made Chris both grateful and irritated at once, “Don’t overthink it.”
Chris gave him a sideways look, running his tongue against his teeth in a cheeky smile, “When do I ever?”
Matt barked out a laugh but didn’t press. He just clapped a hand to Chris’s shoulder and said his goodbyes to the room. Nick followed, giving Claire a charming little salute on the way out and throwing a smile at Grant that was too exaggerated to be real.
The door shut behind them, and silence rushed in like water through a broken window in a storm.
Now there were four.
The apartment felt suddenly smaller than it had with double the bodies in it. Too quiet. The warmth of earlier — the clatter of forks, the wine-soft laughter, the music — had gone brittle at the edges. Claire moved first, gathering plates. Eleanor stood up from the table and joined her without a word, stacking glasses, folding napkins with practiced detachment.
Grant offered to help and was handed a dish towel without ceremony.
Chris moved to the sink, standing next to Claire as she rinsed. The air between them was dense, yet not entirely uncomfortable — more like the reminder of something that hadn’t yet happened but was inevitable. He didn’t know what to say. He kept his head down and wiped the counter.
And Eleanor, always too quiet when it mattered, moved through the kitchen like a spirit. Her presence was almost as loud as her silence. She passed near him once — close enough that he felt the air shift — and still said nothing.
Eventually, the last glass was dried. The counters gleamed. Claire turned and stretched, subtly, and announced, “Alright I’m heading to my room.”
A pause. She didn’t look at Chris when she said it. She didn’t have to. Because her intentions were clear: she would not be going to her room alone.
Chris felt it, that magnetic pull — old and familiar and low in his stomach. His body already responding before his mind could catch up. But he didn’t move, not yet.
Instead he turned — slowly, cautiously — and found Eleanor on the other side of the room, where she had stooped to blow out the candles. She looked up, and for the first time that night, met his gaze and didn’t look away.
There was something in her expression that he couldn’t quite name. Not longing. Not anger. Not even sadness. Just…a quiet understanding. A softness she’d hidden all night now slipping out at the edges, just enough to catch on the air between them and travel into his chest.
She nodded. Barely. Like a lighthouse in the fog. It was permission, resignation, both.
Chris swallowed. The room suddenly too warm.
“Night guys,” Claire said gently from behind him, already walking down the short hallway.
Chris lingered for one second longer, waiting for something to change — a word, a breath, anything. But Eleanor just turned away and blew out the last candle.
“Goodnight, El,” He whispered, turning towards Claire.
—
Eleanor lay back against the sheets, her hair fanned across the pillow like spilled ink, her skin still warm from wine and candlelight. Grant hovered over her, hungry in a way she couldn’t fault, his tongue running over her collarbone like he wanted to devour her whole. Still, he was being careful. Considerate. But her thoughts moved too fast for his touch to anchor.
The thin wall beside her had always been a whisper of vulnerability, a fragile divide between bedrooms that she had learned to live beside — raising the fan’s hum to drown out sobs, muffling the whispered reading of poems in the dark. Tonight, though, the wall breathed — with the weight of someone else’s breath; someone else’s want. It was happening. Just beyond it. Chris and Claire. The very thing she had given them both permission to do.
The sounds didn’t come suddenly. They crept in like tendrils of smoke — slow, tentative, though unmistakable. A soft exhale. The shift of bedsprings. A gasp bitten down to a whisper.
Grant kissed her neck, then her shoulder. His pace had settled into something quick and repetitive — something she had gotten used to over time. And still, Eleanor’s mind drifted sideways, toward the other room.
She tried to pull herself back. To Grant. To his body. To the four walls of her bedroom. But it was like trying to read a page in low light — the meaning there, but constantly slipping from clarity.
Claire made a sound. Soft, drawn-out. And then Chris, lower — something between a groan and a sigh. The sound of surrender. The sound of that first thrust.
Eleanor’s stomach twisted. She closed her eyes. And when Grant pushed deeper into her, she forced out her own moan. But her body tensed — not from him, not for him — but because she could feel the rhythm through the wall now. Slow. Unhurried. A different tempo from Grant’s. One that seemed to echo in her bones.
It was disorienting. Sensation layered on top of sound layered on top of forbidden longing.
Grant whispered her name, but it was distant. Like a voicemail playing in another room. His voice didn’t land. But Chris’s did.
A low moan, throaty and masculine.
Eleanor bit her lip.
She moved with Grant, but her mind was caught elsewhere — listening. Mapping the shape of something forbidden, something made of equal parts jealousy and raw desire. It pulled her tight, like thread through the eye of a needle.
And then, like a slow wave pulling against her hips, she felt her own body begin to respond.
So when her cries began to mirror the slow, honeyed rhythm bleeding through the wall — not the sharp, hurried cadence of the body above her — her own pleasure rose like a tide; misaligned but undeniable. The wall between them felt metaphorical — not thick enough to separate one desire from another, not solid enough to keep her tethered to the man inside of her. It was just enough to remind her of who wasn’t touching her.
Her moans — softer, unsure — began to rise and fall to the wrong tide. The wall might as well have been glass. Her eyes were pinched shut, but still she was watching.
She could see Claire’s hand laced in Chris’s hair, his mouth pressed low along her jaw. She saw the way his eyes fluttered shut as he released — and hated him in that moment — beautiful and lost and unreachable.
Grant’s hands slid beneath her thighs, lifting her higher. She let him. But in her mind, it was Chris’s weight pinning her down. Chris’s voice unraveling in her ear. Claire had him now — not in fragments, not in theory, but in full.
And Eleanor — Eleanor had this man who didn’t care to learn her, who didn’t care enough to notice that she wasn’t quite there.
The pleasure came in stutters. Unexpected, complicated, real enough to make her bite down on her lip and grasp the sheets — but shadowed by the way her racing heartbeat aligned with a different soul entirely.
She came quietly. Softly. But not for the man above her.
And when it was over, and Grant laid on his back with one arm lazily slung along her stomach, she turned to face the wall — the cursed sheet of plasterboard — and listened to the hush of the next room.
A long silence. Then a laugh. Claire’s. Then nothing.
She lay there, heart aching in some strange, ecstatic sorrow, like she’d been emptied and filled all at once.
She didn’t cry. She didn’t speak. Just stared, eyes glazed over, at the wall.
And pretended that the echo that came from behind it hadn’t been what unraveled her.
—
The room felt impossibly stuffy after Grant fell asleep — the kind that made pressure build in her ears. She slid from beneath the sheets without looking back, her body sore in ways she didn’t want to name. Slipping on only a threadbare sweater, she padded out to the living room and sat at her desk like it might tether her to something that felt real.
The lamp cast a soft golden cone over the mess of her thesis notes — annotations curling in the margins, half-formed thoughts chasing each other in loops. Her computer blinked awake, illuminating a page that had been open for hours. She blinked back at it, though the words refused to arrange themselves into meaning. Everything in her mind kept dissolving at the edges, like cotton candy dipped in water.
She was about to press her palms to her eyes when the door to Claire’s room creaked open.
She froze.
Soft footsteps. A breath. Then the slow emergence of Chris, shadowed in the doorway, wearing the same clothes he’d arrived in — though now crumpled, half-buttoned, and disarmed by the hour. When his eyes found hers in the quiet, the both went still.
He looked like he’d stepped into the wrong moment. She felt like she’d never left it.
Neither of them spoke. The tension within her was delicate — the kind that could collapse under the weight of anything too honest. She watched as he shifted his weight slightly, one hand running through his hair, his mouth parting as though to say something, then closing again.
She cleared her throat instead, “You heading out?”
His voice was low and scratchy, “Yeah, early flight tomorrow.”
“Right, Boston.”
He nodded, wordless.
“How long again?”
He began toying with the hem of his shirt. “Just a week.”
A week. Seven days. Six nights. Time zones between them like oceans. The ache came sharp and quiet, like biting the inside of her cheek.
“Well I hope the East Coast is good to you.” She said, her voice steady, too practiced.
He tilted his head, like he might say something else — something real. But instead he offered a half-smile. “Thanks for hosting tonight. It was…fun.”
“Yeah,” She said, stomach lurching at the unintentional double meaning of his words. “It was. Safe travels, Chris.”
His eyes lingered a moment longer, searching her like he was trying to memorize something about the way she looked. Then he nodded, gently, and let himself out of the apartment with a soft click.
She waited a long moment before breathing again, staring at the closed door as if it might open back up. Like he would suddenly feel just how badly she needed to wrap herself around him.
Outside, frigid wind picked up. A car passed by with a sighing hum. Down the hall, Grant still slept, unaware of her pain. And she sat there, motionless in the golden pool of her desk lamp, for hours. Surrounded by pages she couldn’t finish and silence she couldn’t write through.

Swan and Shadow [Sakusa Kiyoomi x Miya!Reader]
Summary: Where the brooding Sakusa Kiyoomi unknowingly falls in love with the Miya sister. What happens next?
Chapter 12 [Masterlist]
Sakusa sat on the edge of his bed, still in his tracksuit. The only sound was the dull hum of the ceiling fan and the muted pounding in his head. The towel from the game was still clenched in his fist, damp from stress, not sweat.
MSBY lost. And he knew exactly why.
Before he could spiral further, the front door creaked open.
"Yo!" Sakusa looked up, barely lifting his head. “Motoya.”
Standing in the doorway with snacks, in socks half sliding off, was Komori - his most consistent visitor. “Thought I’d come cheer up the tragic prince,” Motoya said, tossing a bag of chips on the table.
“I’m not in the mood.”
“Hey—come on.” Motoya flopped onto the couch. “It's our ritual.”
Sakusa didn’t budge.
“We’ve done this since we were five. You tank a game, we break it down, frame by frame, and cry into snacks after. It’s practically sacred.”
Sakusa let out a sigh but finally dragged himself to the couch, dropping like dead weight beside him. Motoya was already scrolling through highlights on YouTube. “Okay, what happened to you in the second set? You pull a muscle? Get food poisoning?”
Silence.
Sakusa slouched deeper into the cushions, eyes on the floor. Motoya raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He kept clicking.
Click.
Click.
Then froze.
The screen wasn’t showing volleyball clips anymore.
Nope- it was a curated carousel of ballet videos. You, dancing in a pale blue leotard. You, twirling in soft golden light. You, bowing at the end of a duet—Shinjiro at your side.
Motoya stared at the screen, dead silent.
“…Huh.”
Sakusa’s head snapped up in horror. “Don’t.”
Too late.
Motoya stood up on the couch, holding the remote high up like Simba in his hand, “What the hell is this?!”
Sakusa lunged, but Motoya scrambled backward, still towering on the cushions.
“Bro. BRO. You are one video away from making a FAN-CAM.”
“Give me the remote.”
“No.” Motoya squinted at the screen. “Wait—isn’t this the Miya sister?”
Sakusa let out a sound that wasn’t quite human. "You think I dont know that?"
“I mean—she’s hot, I get it. But dude. You hate drama—she comes with twin-sized baggage and a boyfriend!”
“It’s not—” Sakusa snatched the remote, flopping back onto the couch with a groan. “It’s not like that.”
Motoya raised an eyebrow. “You sure? Because this playlist says ‘ballet angel – slow motion edition.’”
Sakusa glared. “I didn’t name it.”
“You still saved it.”
Silence.
Sakusa stared at the paused video—your profile mid-turn, caught in soft spotlight.
“I just… like watching her dance,” he muttered.
Motoya sat beside him again, this time quieter. Realization hits him, “Wait, was she at the game? Is she why you lost your mojo?”
Sakusa sighs, then nods. "Her and..Shinjiro." Sakusa tells Motoya everything he saw.
Motoya sits beside him again, this time quieter. “Do you like her?”
Sakusa doesn’t answer immediately. Then, quietly, “I don’t know.”
Motoya studies him for a second. “Okay. Does spending time with her make you happy?”
Sakusa nods once.
“Do you think about her a lot?”
Another nod.
“…do you feel like you want to kiss her?”
Sakusa pauses. Really pauses. He doesn’t even realize he’s nodding until Motoya lets out a sharp breath and drops the joking tone entirely.
“Then snap out of it. Now is a terrible time for you to be feeling this way.”
Sakusa blinks, startled as Motoya continues,
“I don’t know if it’s a crush or infatuation or whatever, but this? This is not healthy. One—she’s a Miya. You know how that plays out. And two—she has a serious boyfriend. Like, press photos serious.”
Sakusa looks at him, wide-eyed and silent.
“I can’t control how I feel,” he finally says, voice low.
“No,” Motoya agrees. “But you can control what you do about it.”
There's a long pause as Sakusa takes in Motoya's words.
Then Motoya nudges him lightly. “So… what are you gonna do about it?”
Sakusa doesn’t answer. He just stares at the screen—at your paused silhouette, frozen mid-spin—and breathes.
Maybe it’s infatuation. Maybe it’s not.
But either way, he knows now— he can’t keep doing nothing.

____ looked at her younger sister with a "how funny" look. "Come on, don't look at me like that. It's not my fault that everyone thinks you died," the girl said, raising her hands in a sign of peace.
____ sighed "Okay, let's go home Valery, it's getting late," she said as she led the way.
---
____ and Valery had been living in the village for several weeks now, trying to blend in and keep a low profile. They had taken on odd jobs to earn their keep, and the villagers had welcomed them with open arms, unaware of their true identities.
---
In the morning, as they were walking to the town's market, they saw a crowd of villagers surrounding something. Intrigued, ____ and Valery came closer.
They were all surrounding a notice board, with... "Oh no..." "The eight deadly sins? Weren't there seven?" One of them wondered. "That's the least of it, it seems they're coming back. Who knows what those ruffians are going to do."
"____... we should go" Valery whispered to her sister, who glanced at her and nodded. Seeing the signal, they both slowly walked away from the crowd.
"Meliodas, Diane, King, Ban, Escanor, Merlin, Gowther, and..." ____ hearing them stop before saying her name, she became more nervous. "This can't be... the sin of indifference. Is she still alive?" By this point, Valery and ____ had already gone far enough away to start running to their "house" and gather whatever they could.
"Wait a minute, ____... isn't that the girl who lives a few streets down? Along with the Valery gal?" Someone asked. "You're right! They've been tricking us all this time! We must go get ____ before she does to us what she did to her village!"
In less than a minute, everything had become chaos.
---
"Come on Valery, we have to go, now" ____ said hurrying. Valery was finishing collecting her socks, one of which had mysteriously ended up in the ceiling fan. "How do you even manage this?" ____ muttered, exasperated.
When they were finally ready, they heard screams approaching their house, so they had to leave through the back door. When they were far enough away, they looked back at the town for the last time, only to notice that their little house had been burned down. "Savages..."
"What are we going to do now?" Valery asked, looking at her sister hopelessly. "I don't think we have many options, I have to go back to the sins. In the meantime, it's best to go far away, surely the villagers will notify the Holy Knights to go find me." _____ said looking towards the village while sighing full of sadness "I'm very sorry that you have to live like this because of me."
That's right, the only person, or rather, one of the few people, towards whom she doesn't feel indifferent, is his sister. She has been there for ____ at every moment, even in the darkest of days.
A few days have passed since the incident, days in which there was no roof over their heads or something to feed them properly. They just kept walking, trying to avoid towns, in a few cases where hunger was so great, ____ stole some food in some market, just as Ban had taught her so many years ago. And she couldn't risk fighting, don't get me wrong, she's excellent at fighting, but she couldn't put her sister's life at risk, not again. "God... How I wish I had my sacred treasure in times like these" ____ said to herself. "How is that going to help you? Besides, you haven't had her for the last 10 years." Valery said. "I know, but it's my complement. Without Amira my power is significantly reduced, and I can't defend ourselves in case of an attack."
Amira is a long, elegant bow, made of a silver metal that shines with an icy glow. The bowstring seems to be made of pure light and emits a soft blue glow. At the center of the bow is a cat-shaped amulet.
Rumble~
____ looked at Valery with a smirk while the other blushed significantly. "Can we get something to eat?"
---
After walking for a while, they came to a kind of tavern, a little... neglected. "Boar Hat? That sounds well enough"
Entering the place, they noticed that there weren't many people, and there was a thin girl with platinum hair waiting on the tables. The unknown girl noticed them and approached them. "Hello, nice to meet you, what can I get you?" The girl said shyly looking down. ____ stared at her for a while, not speaking. Valery noticed this and was about to speak "Hey-" When out of nowhere, ____ placed a hand over her mouth and began to speak herself "Nothing for now, we'll sit down for a moment, sweetheart."
Dismissing the girl, both sisters sat down at a table a little far from everyone else. "What the hell, ____? I'm hungry. And why were you staring at the chick like that?" Valery said. "I'm sorry, we'll have to wait until those guys over there go away. And, I think I've seen that girl before..."
While they waited, they ordered some Bernian Ale, one of the most famous drinks in several kingdoms. After a while, the men finally left, and ____ stood up and addressed the owner of the establishment, the reason why she had acted so strangely. "Captain?"

What Makes a Ceiling Fan Brand the Best in India?

Ceiling fans are an integral component of Indian households. Even with the high demand for air conditioners and coolers, fans remain on top in the market because of affordability, energy conservation, and durability. But with so many brands out there to choose from these days, how do you select the best ceiling fan brand in India?
In this in-depth guide, we’ll explore the essential features, innovations, and standards that help identify the leading ceiling fan brands. From advanced BLDC technology to design and service support, we’ll cover every aspect that separates the best from the rest.
The Indian Ceiling Fan Market: A Brief Overview
India's weather conditions—particularly the severe, long summer months—render ceiling fans essential. This has created huge demand nationwide and across all income brackets. To meet this demand, fan companies produce products in different price categories and designs.
Yet, as there is increasing awareness regarding energy savings and sustainability, consumers are increasingly turning towards newer solutions such as BLDC ceiling fans, which has changed the way a brand stands out in Indian marketplaces.
Predominant Factors That Make the Best Ceiling Fan Brand in India
1. Energy Efficiency: The Strength of BLDC Technology
A fan that is used for hours a day can make a big difference in your electricity bill. This is where BLDC technology fits in. Today, the best ceiling fan brand in India has BLDC ceiling fans that use 60–70% less power than normal fans.
Some of the important BLDC fan benefits are:
Lower power usage (as low as 25–35 watts)
No motor heating, which is more efficient
Quiet performance through low friction
Longer lifespan and increased durability
Works effectively even under voltage fluctuations
This change towards energy efficiency is one of the major reasons why companies like Atomberg, Havells, and Orient are now investing heavily in BLDC models.
2. Innovation and Smart Features
Brands need to keep innovating in order to remain competitive in the market. Consumers today look for more than just air flow—they demand convenience, smart control, and multi-functionality.
Innovations in the top ceiling fan brand in India include:
BLDC fan with regulator: Enables users to continue using existing wall-mounted regulators even with high-end motors.
BLDC fan with light: Such fans integrate cooling and lighting into a single unit, providing both efficiency and beauty.
Smart connectivity: Connectivity with mobile apps, remote controls, and voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant.
These intelligent features provide unparalleled user ease and are the direction of future Indian home appliances.
3. Design and Aesthetic Flexibility
Those times are over when ceiling fans were solely performance-oriented. Modern fans are as much a fashion statement. Companies that provide ample design options, finishes, and blade types are favored greatly by new-age Indian consumers.
The best ceiling fan companies now provide:
Designer fans for city homes
Space-saving and slim models for tiny rooms
Wooden or wood-finish fans for classic houses
LED lights integrated within for a contemporary, multifunctional appearance
Such diversity allows you to avoid sacrificing style and function.
4. Construction Quality and Material Longevity
A heavy-duty, long-lasting fan that can sustain years of service without any problems is another sign of a top ceiling fan company.
Top-rated brands tend to be heavy on construction quality and include:
100% copper winding for motors
Rust-resistant aluminum or ABS plastic bodies
Durable blades with aerodynamic profiles for improved airflow
Sealed bearings to limit dust ingestion
Durability is particularly crucial in humid areas, where poor-quality fans tend to rust or fail promptly.
5. Customer Service and Guarantee
Excellent customer service instills confidence and fosters brand loyalty. The best ceiling fan brand in India generally has:
Extended warranties (3 to 5 years being the standard)
Toll-free services and online ticketing systems
Extensive coverage of service centers in cities and towns
Doorstep repair or installation services
Ready access to after-sales support greatly increases customer value and peace of mind.
The Role of Pricing
Price is a crucial factor, particularly in a nation like India, where customers tend to be price-conscious. But Indian consumers are now ready to spend a bit more for energy efficiency and extra features, understanding that the up-front cost of a BLDC ceiling fan will translate into less electricity consumption bills over time.
Therefore, the best ceiling fan brand is one that provides a balance between value for money, features, and future savings.
Top Features Found in Leading Ceiling Fan Brands
India's best fan brands have a mixture of cutting-edge technology and functional features. Here's what you can look forward to:
BLDC Motor: Provides better performance with less power consumption.
Integrated LED Lighting: Certain fans include decorative or functional LED lighting that doubles up as a purpose in living rooms or bedrooms.
Remote and App Control: Adjust speed, switch the fan on/off, or schedule timers without moving from your bed or sofa.
Dust-resistant Coating: Maintains the fan cleaner for a longer period of time and minimizes maintenance.
High Air Delivery: Best brands make sure that their fans provide maximum airflow even in large rooms.
Smart Home Integration: Smart home system compatibility makes the experience even better.
Leading Brands with a Reputation for Innovation and Quality
The following are some popular fan brands that have gained their reputation for being innovative, offering great products, and satisfying customers:
1. Victura Airmotion
Victùra Airmotion is committed to developing fans and being eco-friendly so that we can help the environment and save energy by reducing power consumption. It is our responsibility to care for the Earth together with a sustainable and less-waste lifestyle.
2. Atomberg
Atomberg is among the first ones who introduced the BLDC fan technology in India. Their products like Renesa and Renesa+, are famous for remote control, energy efficiency, and sleek designs. Atomberg has been quoted as one of the top ceiling fan brand in India for contemporary homes.
3. Havells
With a reliability legacy, Havells provides conventional and BLDC ceiling fans with fashion-forward designs, energy-efficient motors, and value-for-money pricing. Their products such as Efficiencia and Stealth are segment favorites.
4. Orient Electric
Orient is famous for intelligent fans in its i-Series, providing IoT integration, power-saving functionality, and silent operation. They also provide variants such as bldc fan with light and high-end design fans.
5. Crompton
Crompton's Energion series has BLDC models with regulator compatibility. Their fans are performance-oriented and enjoy a strong customer base, particularly in rural and semi-urban regions.
6. Usha
A name people have trusted for decades, Usha fans strike a balance between affordability and utility. Although they are slowly introducing BLDC models, their conventional fan segment is as strong and sturdy as ever.
Comparing Traditional Fans and BLDC Fans
Let's explain the main differences between conventional and BLDC fans in paragraph form.
Conventional fans draw approximately 70 to 80 watts of power and have induction motors that produce excess heat. They are less expensive but are noisy and consume more energy. BLDC ceiling fans draw only 25 to 35 watts, produce very little noise, and have a longer lifespan since they are frictionless.
While the initial cost of a BLDC fan is higher, it pays off in the long run with reduced electricity bills and fewer maintenance issues. Most brands offering BLDC models also bundle in smart features like remote controls and timers, which traditional fans often lack.
How to Choose the Best Ceiling Fan Company for Your Needs
Selecting the correct brand becomes simpler if you understand what to do. Below are some of the significant tips:
Check Energy Star Ratings: Always check the power consumption information and star rating.
Consider Usage Location: Purchase more air delivery fans for big rooms and quiet models for bedrooms.
Look for Extra Features: Timers, sleep mode, and smart control are not gimmicks—they provide everyday convenience.
Read Customer Reviews: Websites such as Amazon and Flipkart are replete with real user reviews that can serve to reduce your options.
Compare Warranties: Longer warranties typically reflect higher product quality.
Conclusion
Getting the top ceiling fan brand in India is more than simply selecting a name everyone likes. It's about keeping in mind several issues such as:
Energy efficiency (ideally BLDC models)
Smart features and simplicity
Aesthetically pleasing designs
Heavy-duty materials and durability
A robust post-sales service network
As Indian customers grow more educated, those brands that blend innovation, quality, and service are taking the lead. Whether you need a fashion-forward bldc fan with light, a bldc fan with regulator, or simply a performance-oriented one for general use, the top brands make sure there's something for every home and pocket.
Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)
Which is better, Crompton or Atomberg?
the Atomberg fan is better in regards to part and fitting quality, and even aesthetically, it beats the Crompton fan. Atomberg has better color variants, and the LED lights are a practical addition. The only reason I opted for Crompton was for its brand equity and the 5 years warranty they provided.
What is the full form of BLDC?
BLDC is the acronym for Brushless Direct Current. Unlike conventional brushed DC motors, these motors utilize electronic commutation rather than brushes to change the flow of current, which results in benefits such as improved efficiency, lower maintenance, and longer life.
Is Atomberg a good brand?
Consumers love the fan's excellent air delivery as well as its quiet operation. Consumers are satisfied with the power efficiency and low energy usage of the fan. Consumers praise Atomberg's brand for offering products that are high-quality, innovative, and energy-efficient.

Your bedroom should feel like a retreat, not a reminder of unfinished chores. When clutter piles up, dust settles in, and the air feels stuffy, it doesn’t just affect your room’s appearance. It influences how well you sleep and feel when you wake up. A cleaner bedroom can lead to clearer thoughts, better breathing, and deeper rest. This guide is part of the 5 Pillars of Home Cleaning [insert internal blog 5 Pillars here] blog series. This post provides a simple, step-by-step approach to help you create a space that promotes comfort, hygiene, and peace of mind. Each pillar focuses on one essential care area, from tackling daily messes to starting fresh with a full bedroom deep cleaning. You’ll find practical guidance and product tips to make your routine easier. If you’ve ever wondered how to clean your bedroom to support better sleep, you’re in the right place. Let’s break it down, pillar by pillar, so you can achieve a clean bedroom for better sleep. Pillar 1: Decluttering Surfaces Clear Space, Clear Mind Visual clutter has a sneaky way of building stress. When your nightstand is stacked with half-read books and your dresser becomes a landing pad for mail, keys, and yesterday’s laundry, your brain stays alert, even during rest. Decluttering surfaces is one of the most impactful bedroom cleaning tips because it immediately changes how your space feels. You’ll breathe easier, think clearly, and unwind faster. Follow these steps on how to clean your bedroom and declutter surfaces: Surface Cleaning: Start with the surfaces you see first thing in the morning: your nightstand, dresser, and any shelves. Remove everything and only put back what truly belongs. Limit the nightstand to essentials like a lamp, clock, or one calming object. Group loose items like jewelry or charging cords into small trays or containers. Under the Bed: The space under your bed can easily turn into a cluttered graveyard. Pull everything out, vacuum the area, and only store items you rarely use, ideally in labeled, low-profile bins with lids to keep dust out. Product Recommendations To use hidden space, add stackable storage bins or fabric under-bed organizers. Drawer dividers and desktop trays also work wonders on surfaces that tend to attract clutter. Bonus Tip: Try the “one-minute rule”: if putting something away takes less than a minute, do it immediately. It’s a simple habit that keeps clutter from returning. Refreshing your surfaces a few minutes weekly will instantly elevate your space and support better bedroom organization. Small changes, big impact. Pillar 2: Dust and Air Quality Breathe Easier, Sleep Better Maintaining clean surfaces and air is one of the most valuable bedroom cleaning tips for comfort and health. Even when your bedroom looks tidy, airborne irritants like dust, pollen, and pet dander can silently impact your sleep and well-being. Poor air quality can lead to congestion, allergies, or that constant stuffy room feeling. Dust collects quickly on often-overlooked areas like window sills, ceiling fans, and HVAC vents. Regularly tackling these zones ensures you’re not breathing in buildup night after night. You’ll rest easier knowing your space feels as fresh as it looks. Use this strategy to improve air quality and stay ahead of dust in your bedroom: Start at the Top: Use a Swiffer duster or microfiber wand to clean dust ceiling fans, light fixtures, and the tops of shelves or headboards. Wipe Surfaces: Clean window sills, blinds, baseboards, and vents with a damp microfiber cloth or dryer sheet to trap dust instead of scattering it. Vacuum Thoroughly: Use a HEPA filter vacuum to cover all carpeted areas and upholstered furniture. Change Air Filters Regularly: Swap out your HVAC filters every two to three months, and consider a HEPA air purifier if you live in a high-traffic or high-pollution area. Recommended Products To keep dust and odors under control, try a Swiffer 360° duster, Febreze Air Mist, or a Levoit HEPA air purifier. Bonus Tip: Run your ceiling fan in reverse during winter (clockwise) to reduce dust circulation and keep air gently flowing without stirring up allergens. Following this approach helps you create a space where every breath feels lighter. Pillar 3: Bed and Bedding Hygiene Your Sleep Sanctuary Your bed is the heart of your bedroom, where you spend nearly a third of your life. But over time, it also collects sweat, skin cells, oils, and dust mites. Without regular care, even the coziest-looking bed can harbor odors and allergens that disrupt your sleep. Keeping your bedding fresh isn’t just about comfort. It’s an essential part of deep cleaning and long-term wellness. Fresh sheets, clean pillows, and a well-maintained mattress help regulate temperature, support better breathing, and promote restorative rest. Making this pillar part of your routine ensures your sleep space stays clean, inviting, and hygienic. Follow these bedroom cleaning tips to refresh your bedding and maintain a truly restful sleep environment: Replace Your Linens: Wash your sheets and pillowcases weekly in hot water to eliminate allergens and bacteria. Add Protective Layers: Use pillow and mattress protectors to guard against moisture, dust mites, and stains. Vacuum Your Mattress: Every month, use an upholstery attachment to remove debris and dust buildup. Rotate Your Mattress: Flip it every three to six months to promote even wear and better support. Recommended Products Invest in allergen-resistant pillow protectors, a waterproof mattress encasement, and a fabric refresher spray like Febreze to keep things smelling fresh between washes. Bonus Tip: If the weather allows, air out your mattress and pillows in direct sunlight for a few hours. UV rays help eliminate bacteria and naturally deodorize bedding. Follow these steps to care for your bedding, and you’ll create a sleep sanctuary that feels clean, calming, and truly restorative. Pillar 4: Floor and Carpet Cleaning Ground-Level Freshness Even if everything else in your bedroom looks clean, dusty floors and dingy rugs can drag the whole space down. Carpets trap pet hair, allergens, and everyday debris, while hardwood or tile floors collect fine dust and grime, especially in high-traffic zones near the bed and door. If you’re serious about bedroom deep cleaning, floors should receive equal attention and level of cleaning. Maintaining clean floors improves indoor air quality, reduces allergens, and gives your room that crisp, just-cleaned feeling underfoot. Plus, waking up to a clean floor daily sets a positive tone from when your feet hit the ground. To bring freshness back to your floors, follow these simple steps: Vacuum Carpets and Rugs: Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter at least twice a week. Focus on the edges and under the bed, where dust tends to gather. Spot-Treat Stains: Use a gentle, non-toxic carpet cleaner like Folex or a vinegar-and-water solution. Steam Clean: Schedule a quarterly steam cleaning for deeper sanitation, especially for pet owners or allergy sufferers. Mop Hard Floors Weekly: Use a microfiber mop and a mild floor-safe solution to lift grime without damaging surfaces. Recommended Products For fast, effective results, use a Shark or Dyson HEPA vacuum, Bona hardwood floor cleaner, and a microfiber spray mop. Bonus Tip: Before vacuuming, sprinkle a light layer of baking soda on carpets and let it sit for 15 minutes. It naturally absorbs odors and leaves the room smelling fresher. By including floors in your routine, you’re taking a critical step in cleaning your bedroom from the ground up. Pillar 5: Closet and Drawer Maintenance Keep What You Love Your closet and drawers might not always be visible, but they shape how you start and end your day. Digging through crowded hangers or overflowing drawers adds stress to your routine and creates silent messes behind closed doors. Keeping these spaces tidy supports better flow, easier mornings, and an overall sense of control, making this a cornerstone of strong bedroom organization. When your clothing storage is clean and intentional, you’ll find it easier to choose outfits, put things away, and maintain a tidy bedroom overall. Seasonal rotations, decluttering, and thoughtful storage make a big difference in the appearance and function of your bedroom area. Here’s how to clean out and refresh your closet and drawers with ease: Empty One Space at a Time: Pull everything out of a drawer or closet section to see what you’re working with. Sort Your Wardrobe: Place your clothes into keep, donate, and toss piles. Use a bin or bag for each category and aim to touch each item only once. Wipe Out Debris: Use a damp microfiber cloth and vacuum closet floors to remove dust from your drawers and closet shelves. Reorganize by Category or Season: Use drawer dividers, labeled bins, or under-bed storage to keep things accessible and clutter-free. Recommended Products Use slim velvet hangers, foldable fabric bins, and cedar wood sachets or blocks to keep clothes fresh. Bonus Tip: Add a scented dryer sheet or natural lavender sachet to drawers for a soft, clean scent whenever you open them. By following these steps on how to clean your bedroom’s storage areas, you’ll create a clutter-free zone that feels as calm as it looks. Rest Easy in a Bedroom That Works for You Your bedroom should be a place where stress melts away. By following the steps described in this guide, you’re building habits that create a calm, healthy space that helps you feel good every day. When your schedule’s packed, Maid Sailors helps you come home to a ready bedroom. Book your cleaning today and relax in a fresh and clean bedroom for better sleep.
