« If Trump wins, I’m sure he will cut off aid and sell out Ukraine. If Biden wins, and if two-thirds of Congress remains supportive of Ukraine, the aid can keep flowing — and Vladimir Putin will gradually realize that he can’t prevail. That, in turn, might galvanize Russia into serious peace negotiations. »
— Columnist Max Boot at the Washington Post.
Max Boot was born in Russia and came to the United States at an early age with his family. He understands the mindset of authoritarians and oligarchs there.
Right now Putin isn't interested in negotiation – just surrender or crippling concessions from Ukraine. Sadly, the only way to end the war is to raise the price for Russia continuing it.
And the only way to push back against Russia is to continue the flow of Western aid – a plurality of it coming from the US.
A vote for Trump or for Congressional Republicans is a vote for Russia.
Liberal democracy cannot survive in the US if it is under assault around the world. Voting Democratic helps protect both.

Where Max Boot particularly excels, as a biographer, is in connecting his subject’s accomplishments and failures to his essential character. If Ronald Reagan’s triumph as President was to act the part superbly, Boot argues, the ways in which he let Americans down are related to his shortcomings as an actor.
Reagan felt and appeared sympathetic, but he lacked true empathy: the ability to see the world through another’s eyes.

What about the Max Boot bio about Reagan that's in the photo? I didn't realize it was out yet, is it any good?
Max Boot's Reagan: His Life and Legend (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) has not been released yet, the publisher sent me an advance copy. I haven't started reading it because it just arrived this afternoon, but Boot certainly seems to have researched it deeply because it clocks in at 836 pages. Once I get a chance to read it I'll share my thoughts, but I've heard some rave reviews from a few people whose opinions I respect that it is one of the better single-volume biographies of President Reagan that has been published in many years.
Reagan: His Life and Legend will be released on Tuesday (September 10th).

The president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Everett Kelly, said: “Governor DeSantis’ threat to ‘start slitting throats’ of federal employees is dangerous, disgusting, disgraceful and disqualifying.” Among Republican commentators, the columnist Max Boot called DeSantis’s words “deranged” while Bill Kristol, founder of the Bulwark, a conservative site, said the governor was “making a bold play to dominate the maniacal psychopath lane in the Republican primary”.

I'm thinking the meme generator was trying to say "Max Boot." A "Max Booth" doesn't really exist.

We Cannot Stop Now!
While I was pleased that Congress, after much stupidity and game-playing on the part of House Republicans, managed to avert, or more likely delay, a government shutdown at the eleventh hour on Saturday night, I was disappointed that there was no provision in the continuing resolution for further funding for Ukraine.  To simply stop helping Ukraine at this point is unthinkable.  We are told that a…

The murder of Alexei Navalny came during a peculiar week. Putin felt like he could get away with killing off his main opponent after getting winks and nods from his Republican sycophants in the US.
Some people regard Putin as a "savvy genius". But his catastrophic three-day "special operation" in Ukraine, now about to enter Year 3, has demonstrated what s fool he is. Over 400,000 Russians have died so far in his egotistical attempt to become the 21st century version of Peter the Great.
The ramifications of Putin killing off Navalny are only beginning to be felt. It may have speeded up Europe's efforts to further arm Ukraine. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark is donating her country's entire stock of artillery rounds to Ukraine.
Putin may have thought that he's showing the world how strong he is by murdering Navalny. Instead he's sparked another international backlash against his régime.
We need to hold Republicans responsible for their craven backing for Putin. They are holding up aid to Ukraine on the orders of their leader and wannabe dictator Donald Trump.
