Imbolc is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring. Most commonly it is held on January 31 – February 1, or halfway between the winter solstice & the spring equinox. The holiday is a festival of the hearth, home, a celebration of the lengthening days & the early signs of spring.
• It is suggested that Imbolc originally marked the onset of the arrival of fresh sheep milk after a period of food shortage & the beginning of preparations for the spring sowing.
The word “imbolc” means “in the belly” and refers to the pregnancy of ewes at this time of year. The term “oimelc” means ewe’s milk. Around this time of year, many herd animals give birth to their first offspring of the year or are heavily pregnant & as a result, they are producing milk.
Imbolc is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature and it is associated with important events in Irish mythology. It is believed that Imbolc was originally a pagan festival associated with the lambing season and the goddess Brigid. It's believed that Imbolc was Christianized as a festival of Saint Brigid, who herself is thought to also be a Christianization of the goddess.
• Joseph Vendryes and Christian-Joseph Guyonvarc'h suggested that it may have also been a purification festival, similar to the ancient Roman festival Lupercalia which took place at the same time of year.
Some scholars argue that the date of Imbolc was significant in Ireland since the Neolithic. A few passage tombs in Ireland are aligned with the sunrise around the times of Imbolc & Samhain.
Related festivals:
•Groundhog Day: February 2nd-
Is a tradition observed in the United States & Canada every year. It derives from the Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day & sees its shadow, it will retreat to its den & winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow, spring will arrive early.
• While the tradition remains popular in the 21st century, studies have found no consistent association between a groundhog seeing its shadow & the subsequent arrival time of spring-like weather.
•St. Brigid’s Day: February 1st-
Celebrates the beginning of spring and the celebration of Lá Fhéile Bríde, St Brigid’s Day. The day has long symbolised hope, renewal and the feminine.
•Because Saint Brigid has been theorised as linked to the goddess Brigid, some associate the festival of Imbolc with the goddess.
St. Brigid is the patroness saint (or ‘mother saint’) of Ireland. She is patroness of many things, including poetry, learning, healing, protection, blacksmithing, livestock & dairy production. In her honour, a perpetual fire was kept burning at Kildare for centuries & a recent campaign successfully established her feast day as a national holiday in 2023.
The customs of St Brigid's Day did not begin to be recorded in detail until the early modern era. In recent centuries, its traditions have included weaving Brigid's crosses, hung over doors and windows to protect against fire, illness, and evil spirits. People also made a doll of Brigid (a Brídeóg), which was paraded around the community by girls, sometimes accompanied by 'strawboys'. Brigid was said to visit one's home on St Brigid's Eve. To receive her blessings, people would make a bed for Brigid, leave her food and drink, and set items of clothing outside for her to bless. Holy wells would be visited, a special meal would be had, and the day was traditionally linked with weather lore.
• Candlemas: February 2nd-
Is a Christian feast day on February 2nd commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. It is based upon the account of the presentation of Jesus in Luke 2:22-40.
•While it is customary for Christians in some countries to remove their Christmas decorations onTwelfth Night, those in other Christian countries historically remove them after Candlemas.
On Candlemas, many Christians also take their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year. For Christians, these blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who is referred to as the Light of the World.
•Setsubun: February 2nd-
Is the day before the beginning of spring in the old calendar in Japan. The name literally means 'seasonal division’, referring to the day just before the first day of spring.
Both Setsubun & Risshun are celebrated yearly as part of the Spring Festival (Haru matsuri ) in Japan. In its association with the Lunar New Year, Setsubun, though not the official New Year, was thought of as similar in its ritual & cultural associations of 'cleansing’ the previous year as the beginning of the new season of spring. Setsubun was accompanied by a number of rituals & traditions held at various levels to drive away the previous year’s bad fortunes & evil spirits for the year to come.
• The commonly practiced tradition of throwing of roasted soybeans (called "fukumame") in order to drive away evil spirits & bring good fortune into one's home is upheld by both places of worship & regular people. Then, as part of bringing luck in, it is customary to eat roasted soybeans, one for each year of one's life (kazoedoshi), plus one more for bringing good luck for the year.
Other celebrations:
• Lupercalia: February 13-15th-
In ancient Rome, this festival was conducted annually on February 13th through 15th under the superintendence of a corporation of priests called Luperci. The origins of the festival are obscure, although the likely derivation of its name from lupus (Latin: “wolf”) has variously suggested connection with an ancient deity who protected herds from wolves & with the legendary she-wolf who nursed Romulus & Remus. As a fertility rite, the festival is also associated with the god Faunus to purify the city, promoting health & fertility.
Each Lupercalia began with the sacrifice by the Luperci of goats & a dog, after which two of the Luperci were led to the altar, their foreheads were touched with a bloody knife & the blood was wiped off with wool dipped in milk; the ritual required that the two young men laugh. The sacrificial feast followed, after which the Luperci cut thongs from the skins of the sacrificial animals & ran in two bands around the Palatine hill, striking with the thongs at any woman who came near them. A blow from the thong was supposed to render a woman fertile.
In 494 CE the Christian church under Pope Gelasius I forbade participation in the festival. Tradition holds that he appropriated the form of the rite as the Feast of the Purification (Candlemas), celebrated on February 2, but it is likely that the Christian feast was established in the previous century. It has also been alternately suggested that Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day, celebrated on February 14th, but the origin of that holiday was likely much later.

This guide was written with Moon phases and dates corresponding to North America. These guides are supposed to be a generalized stepping off point to do your own research & help celebrate the way you feel called to.
•THIS IS CONDENSED INFORMATION AND SPECIFICS MAY NOT BE MENTIONED
This isn't based off what I do personally & I'm by no way suggesting people celebrate a certain way. It's stuff I've read & put together from books so people of different traditions & practices can get an idea of what to do for the sabbat, months or research for themselves.
Note that for Native American names, each Moon name was traditionally applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, the month starting either with the new Moon or full Moon. Also the name of the lunar month might vary each year or between bands or other groups within the same nation.
Some names listed here may reflect usage at once in history but may no longer be used by a designated group today. Many of the names listed here are English interpretations of the words used in Native American languages. They are only roughly aligned here with the months of the Gregorian calendar; you’ll notice that some names are repeated in multiple months.
The ones listed are the ones that were used in the books I used for correspondences & there are many more that are not mentioned.

aragorn headcanons:
sketches in his free time. likes to draw plants he’s come across, writes down descriptions for later. makes maps and draws animals.
cannot draw people, for the life of him.
except for arwen. draws her all the time.
used to very bland food, cooking on the road. prefers unseasoned meat, likes to taste the “natural flavor.”
dislikes nutmeg. cinnamon feind
favorite cookie is oatmeal raisin
has very grimy hands all the time. it’s never ending. even after he washes them, it’s like immediate dirt and grease
current theories are: his sword is just really dirty, his clothes are dirty so when he touches them it makes them dirty, or legolas’s favorite- humans naturally produce grime so the dirt is a natural protective layer above the skin.
in actuality it’s because he knows it grosses (some) elves out and likes to be a menace. specifically targets erestor. legolas will also go great lengths to make sure aragorns hands star far, far away from his hair
knows some card tricks. has great slight of hand specially because of these card tricks. didn’t really do anything with this until pippin discovered this fact and aragorn was forced (politely asked) to preform for the hobbits.
this is, in spite of the fact, that they all know a literal WIZARD (gandalf was salty at abt this “false magic”) and also a ring that turns ppl invisible??
sews. really well, actually. enjoys it but rarely showcases this talent- mostly patches and mends garments weathered by his lifestyle. would one day love to sew a dress for arwen but doesn’t know where to start
masterful at subtly deflecting compliments.
very generous with compliments of his own, but are again, subtle.
years of living with elves has made him quite reserved. yet, he is doing his best to unlearn this behavior. such examples include:
telling arwen he loves her. telling elrond he loves him. telling frodo he loves him. really just telling everyone he loves them. he’s even worse when he’s drunk- he rarely gets even tipsy, but under the influence of a fine wine (or mead, he prefers mead or ciders) he will get very emotional.
hugs!! aragorn loves to give hugs. he really tries his best but they’re a bit awkward at times. he’s getting better.
breaking away from the elven raw-diet and dine seasonings with grilled meat and more lately grilled everything.
he will try his best to cook for himself at any opportunity. it was a jarring shift going from being served gourmet eleven dinners to raw venison
love language is acts of service. he likes to cook for his friends, though he’s not as good as it as sam, who cooked a majority of fellowship meals, so he mainly hunts. then legolas offered his hand and gimli felt challenged by that and at this point boromir just felt excluded-
he just wants to do nice things for the people he cares abt.
arwen has not, for a good chunk of her life, tied her own shoes, peeled her own oranges, made her own tea, or woken up without breakfast being made or ready for her.
just. guys. he really really loves arwen. he will do anything for her and it’s almost obnoxious.
it IS obnoxious if you ask legolas. but this is why aragorn does not go to legolas for romantic advice. (legolas once told aragorn that the next time he ties her shoes he should tie them together so that when she falls he will catch her. this is why arwen stoped flats with ties and opted for anything she could slip on instead.)
will never cheat at any sort of game. he will get extremely upset if you accuse him of such.
he does not believe that counting cards qualifies as cheating. boromir strongly disagrees. he mainly sticks to chess, now
is not allowed to play chess with erestor, (sore loser and prone to trash talk) elrond (matches take to long due to overthinking on both ends and this annoys arwen to no end) and either of the twins (they cheat by working as a team)
would 100% believe in bigfoot.

It's Time for Samhain! (Oct 31- Nov 1)

What is Samhain? In the Celtic calendar, Samhain marks the end of summer and the harvest season, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter months. It falls opposite Beltane on May 1, which represents the beginning of spring and the life-filled growing season.
It’s believed that the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest on Samhain. Historically, people were worried that they would encounter ornery spirits if they ventured outside on Samhain night, so they dressed as ghosts or wore masks to disguise themselves. Folks would leave treats on their front porch or place an extra setting at the table to welcome any friendly spirits who stopped by. You can see how these Samhain rituals easily morphed into our modern-day version of trick-or-treating in costume.
Nighttime bonfires were another of the long-standing Samhain rituals - this one was thought to help combat the impending darkness of winter and the fearful chill that accompanied the idea of roaming spirits. Because the veil between living and dead is believed to be the thinnest on this night, Samhain is also a powerful night for divination and spellcasting by candlelight.
Usual Symbols of Samhain:
Ale or Mead
Pumpkins
Skulls
Besom or Broom
Beans
Cauldron
Bats
Keys
Squash
Pomegranate
Nuts
Apples and Cider
Bones
Herbs and Plants for Samhain:
Rosemary – Associated with remembrance and is needed during this season in taking time to honor the memories of our ancestors and other lost loved ones. Can be used in an incense blend and at ancestor altar
Fall Flowers – Includes flowers like marigolds and chrysanthemums. Are associated with protection and chrysanthemums come in handy with connecting to the spirit world
Apples (the fruit, branches and blossoms) – Is considered sacred to a lot of gods. A good apple harvest means that the gods have shown the community their favor. You can use apples in different rituals, especially divination
Pomegranates – Is associated with the realm of the underworld and helps with communication with the dead. It is also associated with fertility of the fall.
Squashes, Pumpkins and Gourds – Is associated with abundance and provides sustenance for your family when the fields become bare and covered in snow. Is linked to psychic awareness and development and protection.
Mugwort – Is associated with divination and dreaming. Using Mugwort baths or incenses in the rituals can focus on treating depression, especially with the seasons changing
Rowan Trees – The branches and berries are a way to keep evil spirits out of your house and are associated with good health. If you plant a tree near a grave, it will prevent the dead from rising.
Sage – Is associated with cleansing and grounding. Is a great incense to cleanse your home to bring in the new and out with the old
Hawthorn – Has been associated with the gateway between humans and the spirit world. Is also rumored to an area where you can see fairies.
Crystals for Samhain:
Amethyst – Aids in opening one’s third eye and is valuable to be able to see Samhain’s spirits around
Black Obsidian – Is great for grounding and protect from evil spirits. Can be used in scrying when speaking to deities and spirits of Samhain
Citrine – Is used to honor the sun. Aids in prosperity spells and carries joy
Black Tourmaline – Wards off unwanted spirits from your property and can be buried into the ground to protect from psychic attacks and spirit intrusion
Orange Calcite – Orange is a sacred color to Samhain. This stone is associated with one’s sacral chakra and can cleanse and align reproductive organs, sexuality and get creativity flowing
Bloodstone – Known to heal cardiovascular illness and disease. Can help with ancestry links and work
Spirit Quartz – Is great in helping communicate with the spirits of Samhain and releasing old and toxic habits
Lepidolite – Used to appease the fairies that roam during Samhain
Serpentine – Is associated with snakes and aids in remembering past lives. Loki seems to like this stone and may be great to use for him if you work with him during this season
Dragonstone – Dragons are guardians of the earth, spirits of place, and connect us to Mother Nature. Helps say goodbye to the old years and our old selves
Skull shaped Stones – Since skulls are symbols of Samhain, skull shaped stone can help with symbolism during this holiday. They represent the life-death-rebirth cycle, wisdom and our ancestors
Spells and Rituals:
A Samhain Tea (Apple and Hawthorn Berry)
1 apple, sliced
2 Tablespoon dried hawthorn berries (or 4 Tablespoons fresh)
1 cinnamon stick
A pinch of cloves
4 cups water
Honey, to taste (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a small stockpot.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
Strain the plant material from the tea, then transfer the tea into two mugs.
Enjoy one for yourself, and leave the other on your table or front porch to nourish any wandering spirits who may pass while the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest.
A Pumpkin Spell for Prosperity
A pumpkin
Some paint
Go to the pumpkin patch (or local store) and select a pumpkin. Or let the pumpkin choose you.
Bring it home and paint prosperity symbols on it – money signs, runes for prosperity or harvest glyphs (whatever means prosperity to you).
Then place by your front door to invite prosperous vibes into your home this Samhain season.
Bonfire Release Purification Spell
Paper
Pen
Source of fire (bonfire, fireplace, candle flame)
Gather your materials and sit by the fire.
Take a few minutes to just listen to the fire crackling.
Gaze into the flames and connect with this powerful element.
Next begin to think about what habit or person you are releasing this Samhain. Think about why you’re purifying your life from this thing or person.
Then write the habit or person down on the piece of paper.
Fold it away from you 3 times.
Hold it in your hands and allow all of the negative thoughts and energies inside of you to “drain” out of you and into the paper.
Then throw it in the fire and say,
“After this Samhain, never again. Never again. I release _________ from my life by the power of the Samhain fire. So, mote it be.”
How to Make a Samhain Altar
Beautiful autumn leaves or flowers that you collect on a nature walk
A candle
A mugwort bundle
A string of rowan beads
A bowl of apples or a small pumpkin
A hawthorn wand or bowl of freshly picked hawthorn berries
A picture of your ancestors
To make an altar, first find a corner of your home or a table surface where you can arrange a few treasures. You don’t need a ton of space. You could use the top of a dresser, the corner of your desk, an unused side table, etc.
After you’ve assembled your altar, spend some time sitting quietly in the space. Light the candle and/or mugwort wand, sip on a cup of Apple & Hawthorn Berry Tea and meditate on this energetically powerful day.
I could find specific written instructions for a crystal grid but I found a video!

what do you think prythian's food is like? Like how does the food differ in each court? Which one is known for spicier food? Or meat centric or veggie centric food? Summer would probably have more seafood right?
The Food of Prythian Headcanons
Warnings - Mentions of alcohol. While this is food based, it is based on the vibes of what I felt the culture of each court would be like in comparison to real places in our world. Some of these may be discussion worthy. We handle that in polite ways. Also, Liz thirsting over Helion's thighs.
A/N - The gif had to be Anime food. No cooking show makes ya girl hungry like anime food does. Welcome to the beginning of the requests being queue. Some of you have waited a very long time for me to get out of my funk. I cannot thank you all enough for that.
Spring-
Spring in my opinion would be French style foods. Why? Because of how SJM described the molten chocolate Feyre had.
I imagine Spring to have fresh ingredients that, combined with meats, make light but filling meals and vibrate plates.
I see Tamlin as the cheese board kind of guy. I think Spring would be filled with different cheeses from around the map and lands and people capable of telling you all about them and proper pairings.
Wine. I know we hear about wine a lot in Night, but I will never drop the headcanon that Spring is 7 course meals with different wine pairs as the meal progresses
Overall, I imagine Spring to be filled with dishes that are focused on fresh and quality. I think they'd have a wide variety of options for meats and game.
Ps, edible flowers. They garnish plates with edible flowers
Summer-
Hear me out, I think Summer would be a combination of Hispanic and Latin foods
Summer is seafood heavy, no doubt. Fresh catches served after flavorful preparations.
Summer isn't afraid of seasoning. Nor spice. I think in terms of getting your spicy food fix, Summer is your best options.
Access to fresh fish and summertime thriving fruits such as limes and lemons, naturally Ceviche is a very common dish to be served and a traditional welcome meal for guests.
Pazole would also be right up there with the incorporation of fresh peppers and produce to make it flavorful and impactful.
Alcohol pairings in summer also include fruity mixes. Tarquin is a margarita on the rocks baddie. I will die on that hill.
Autumn-
I'm hiding from how controversial this one might be. I was torn with Autumn because of how Eris and Lucien are written. I think the Forest House with the High Lord and his family do not eat traditional Autumn cuisine and try to separate themselves. So, for Autumn, I am torn but will be focusing on my gut instinct.
Autumn is English and Irish cuisines. Hearty beef stews, bangers and mash, Yorkshire pudding. Meals in Autumn are warm, heavy, and meant to be fulfilling at a price point that even the lowest income families can pull off. Spoiler, I 100% think Lucien and Eris are throwing down bangers and mash. Why? Because it feels right.
Breakfasts tend to have a variety on the plate. Eggs and sausage served over beans was an immediate one that came to mind for me.
I think game meat is also very common in Autumn, but farming is the primary meat source. Cattle, boar, and sheep would make up the majority of dishes with chicken being a last choice.
I think fish is potentially common in Autumn, but they are tinned fish central. And let's not bash tinned fish. You can do a lot with it and create meals for a fairly decent price.
Autumn is spiked cider country. Apples grown so rapidly here that they had to find a way to work them into their drinks. Mother bless the barmaid who asked for some rum and said to hold her mead. Apples since have been worked into whiskey, wine, vodka, and whatever else they could sell. Cinnamon apple whiskey is a personal favorite of Eris's. I asked him myself.
Winter-
Winter to me has very Slavic vibes. With it being so bittery cold, though, I imagine their diets are filled with soups and very heavy stews.
Winter is a season that would struggle with produce and with how I picture trade systems working in Prythian, I'll bluntly say it, Winter is the pickled everything part of Prythian.
Pickled fish, vegetables, and olives are all very common ingredients in meals and as snacks.
Root vegetables such as onions, garlic, and potatoes are featured in every meal. They're known to grow in harsh environments, and paired together can be a great base to a meal.
Game meat is common here. Venison, elk and some options that we may less commonly think of such as bear, fox, wild big cats, and rabbit
Drinks wise, like the foods, it is about warmth. Mulled wines, warm ciders, anything to keep their hands warm and bellies full.
Dawn-
It would have been far too easy to argue Dawn is 24/7 breakfast, but I think Thesan is very into cuisine that touched the homelands of his Court's population.
Dawn is heavily leaning to Japanese and Asian styled foods. Bright dishes, bold flavor, and full of experiments and experiences. I don't think there is a dull meal in Dawn.
Dawn is filled with brothy soups centering around rich cuts of meat, different styles of noodles, and an ever rotating flavor profile as seasons change.
Seafood is common in Dawn, but they're open to trying any form of proteins. Eggs are a favorite.
I think meals in Dawn vary from you feeling heavy and ready for a nap afterward to something light and refreshing. I think this variation comes with seasons and availability to ingredients.
Dawn is drinking a variety of things. Hard liquor with touches of fruit, hearty beers, plum based wines, and teas. Dawn is filled with variety in the beverages, all paired perfectly to compliment meals.
Day-
Helion and the Day Court had to be a Mediterranean diet. I won't apologize. She can't describe thigh daddy as wearing white togas, snake arm bands, and not expect me to decide he serves me my favorite cuisine post... thigh admiration.
I also feel this works well with the Day Court due to me picturing it as a similar situation where the days reach high grueling temperatures and Nights are made for dancing under the moonlight in anticipation of getting to see morning break and the sun begin to rise.
The Day Court is light meals during the day hours that center heavily around fruits, vegetables, and seafood kissed with notes of citrus. Nights are slightly heavier with touches of beef and lamb joining in.
Hummus. There's various hummus bowls at every meal, and each one is a different layer of flavor or spice. Helion ensures they are served with a variety of root vegetables, pita breads, or falafel.
Drinking is common, but beers are not. Even beverages are kept light in Day. Of all the courts, though, I feel the Day Court is heavily pushing water intake.
Night-
Full discretion. I wanted to break the Night Court into Velaris, Hewn City, and Illyria. Due to tumblr LIMITING MY CREATIVITY (jerks) i am focusing on Velaris.
Have you ever wanted to make love to your food or make love because of your food? If so, "Welcome to the Night Court."
I think Velaris doesn't necessarily have a region of food from our world, but instead, it is a melting pot due to the variety of citizens and walks of life there. One thing is always true, though, artistic expression is worked into food.
Velaris is known for gorgeous plates, high end cuts of meats, and things being extra. It is common to see edible gold leaf in Velaris.
Proteins wise, I think due to the melting pot, there isn't a common or most popular choice. Venison, beef, lamb, chicken, and seafood are all common. I do think Velaris leans towards roasted vegetables, though. Roasting them can bring out flavor and, most importantly, color. I heavily believe presentation is key here.
Chocolate dipprd fruits are a favorite, but dipped figs with a touch of sea salt are a go to dessert.
Wines. Prepare for wines with every turn. Full bodied reds, crisp whites, flirty rosé, and oh so bubbly champagne.
In short, food in Velaris is meant to make you feel something, to push boundaries and flavor palette, and to fill your tummy.

High energy celebrations and ritual
Astral projection/travel
Divinations
Cord cuttings
Create a Brigid’s Cross
Gardening (best time to start to plant seeds)
Make resolution(s) and goal(s) for the year ahead (I'll fight to the DEATH about my personal opinion that this is a better time for resolutions than New Years itself. Best time for renewal and goal setting)
Ritual to say farewell to winter
Make bread
Spring clean! It’s the best time for it
Low energy celebrations
Starting a manifestation journal
Burning a bay leaf with manifestation on it
Planning in your planner
Lighting a candle in honour
Make a cup of tea
Practice self care
No spoon celebrations
Prayer
Putting on sun lamp
Greet the sun at sunrise
Rest
How you celebrate the holiday does not matter. You can choose to do any activity that feels right. These are only suggestions and remember that you're enough no matter what.
Also please note some stuff is UPG. A great book is Year of the Witch by Temperance Alden for honouring the celebrations and if you wanted to work more seasonally. It's not wiccan based and has plenty of resources for every witch.

Friend told me photogenic doesn't matter, proof of eating well is needed so

Sooooo you are all aware, my bottle of cider is the opened one. My roommates purchased a heckload of Mead and bochet and cider for December and Chrimmaz time. I am not an alcoholic.
I ate dinner tonight like a Real Adult™ (aka I had energy to cook myself a meal)
I made mushroom and onion pasta (mushies and onions cooked with dill and garlic oil, added veggie broth and reduced slightly to thicken), and lemon salmon with long pepper. Also salad greens with dressing I made from pineapple hotsauce, kewpie mayo, lemon juice, and a bit of water.
Also had blueberry mead with it. Not posting a picture because it didn't look photogenic enough, but it was tasty!
#food#eating#yay#I did it#tomorrow morning I'm working out too#photo proof i ate dinner#that's three meals today#i called it Mead in the first post bc it came from the meadery#and i legit thought it was blueberry mead#not cider#till i looked at the photo lol

Round 5, Salter 1 / 5
Things are a lot quieter in this household without Gytha here! This round the Salters got a 'nothing much happened' ROS roll. Why does only Arturo get the bad rolls? Why can't Wulfric get a few turtles dropped on his head?
Actually, Wulfric is sick with a cold when the round starts, but that's not enough. I need him to suffer.
At least Brigid's a better parental figure to her own child (so far).
Brigid also has to send off a fine to Headwoman Norweni for being caught starting a fight last round. If she had been fighting a playable, the money would go to them, but since it was a townie the best thing I could come up with was sending it to Norweni herself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
why... why do you have that. (Yes, I did change Brigid's traits, but only to better reflect her own actions. 🥰)
Unlike Gytha's raging, Glamaer copes with his ineffectual father and grouchy step-mother by ignoring them and avoiding spending too much time at home. He fishes, he works on harvesting salt, he goes into town to spend time with his friends and Enna.
And, of course, Enna often comes by on her day off, despite her complaints about having to walk so far to see him. Glamaer can't wait until they come of age and he can propose to her.
But there's something else on his mind ever since Drustan convinced him to spend a night in the cave in the hills. He saw something there, and he can't shake the idea that it was the spirit of his mother. There's no good explanation for how he knows it was her, he just knows in his heart that it was.
He wonders if she would be proud of him.
Since that night, though, sometimes he feels the sensation of eyes on his back, but when he turns around there's no one there. Drustan says it's probably just his imagination filling in blanks.
Well, after three babies you should know the solution to stinky ones.
Once he's recovered from his cold, Wulfric decides to take Brigid out for an evening on the town aka a visit to the mead hall.
('eulalia, didn't you say Brigid doesn't drink?' it's non-alcoholic cider, thanks for asking!)
And surprise surprise, Gytha was there as well, but when Wulfric tried to greet her, she up and left the lot entirely. Good for you, girl!!

Hello Mouseeyy, how ya doing?
So i have something in mind, i once thought of Mr. Qi as like grandpa's great grandpa or older. And i also thought like grandpa has also gotten perfection because he was blue (i like to think that blue meant that they have reached perfection), and Mr. Qi was also blue, albeit only his skin.
So what if when the farmer has reached perfection, they could have like blue tint to them, and also because they gotten perfection, everything they do is perfect, like perfect baking, perfect fishing, etc. (i also made like another farmer oc based off of these).
How would the RSV characters (love your rsv headcanons btw) , like maybe all of them?, would react to a perfect farmer? Maybe some of them would notice that there is more to farmer than they initially thought?
Hey hey 👋 Doing great, eating pineapple pizza at this moment and drinking tea 💖
Oooooh, so Qi is basically Grandpa's great grandfather? (apparently immortal too, under these circumstances). And after achieving Perfection, there are these changes in one's body. I've never thought of that idea before, but it's cool! I usually always thought we get a statue, golden chickens, and a unique hat, no more HCs or ideas.
Anyway, thank you so much for the ask and for your kind words, dear! Have a wonderful day ☺️🫰
_________________________________________
Ridgeside Village residents' reaction to Farmer and the aftermath after their attainment of Perfection (blue skin and the ability to do everything perfectly):
Honestly, Pika would be scared for a moment that blue-skinned Farmer had fallen victim to another of Keahi's pranks. Though the chef would then immediately change his mind, after all, his son wouldn't go that far with jokes, would he? "I just... succeeded at something." Farmer's words made him even more confused, but.... okay? Pika will definitely be shocked, by the way, when Farmer shows him his own special dish, perfectly made on the first try, when it took him months to come up with the recipe and perfect it. Heh, they'll outdo Pika in his own element that way!
"Wow, you're blue from head to toe. Blueberry season is in full swing, eh?" Bert asked Farmer jokingly, but his eyes widen not a little when he with Olga, Kimpoi, and Malaya discover that Farmer hasn't been fiddling with berries that could temporarily make you dye. "Oh dear... Maybe you should stop by Paula's?" Olga and Kimpoi's advice about going to the local doctor was met with polite refusal. Malaya, strangely enough, was acting somehow unusual, and her husband noticed. Later she meets Farmer one-on-one and honestly wonders what's wrong with them. She senses some kind of magic around them, to which Farmer will tell her something cryptically and give her a perfectly caught, flawless lullaby carp. Well, yeah, it's a little weird, but it's kind of the same Farmer.
Anton was resting at Pika's with a mug of cider when he was greeted by a smiling Farmer. The architect stared at them for half a minute, and slooooooowly pushed his half-empty mug away. Too much booze for roday since he was starting to see blue people. "Hey, Anton, how's going? I brought you something... A bottle of mead, from the finest honey, perfect quality! Let's pour it for two and-" No thanks, Anton's had enough for today. Blue Farmer....
When Paula saw her friend/spouse after attaining Perfection, she freaked out because they had turned blue??? They're suffocating?! Immediate first aid! Then realizing that Farmer's health was in no danger, the military medic would look for info about unusual phenomenon of "blue skin". Did they eat something weird? How are they feeli- Oh, it's for her? Mmm, thanks! Okay, back to work! Paula will be too busy looking for Farmer's undiscovered "disease" to notice another changes about them.
Just like the military medic, Kiarra will be scared shitless by Farmer's new look, believing they ate or drank something toxic. "Must be another ‘novelty’ from Joja.... Wait, but Farmer hates Joja???" All the local doctors spread their hands, since her friend/lover was fine. Okay, that's good. A little scary, but at least they're okay. About the "perfect" part... well, Farmer is already an expert at their job, standing over the stove for hours, fishing, gained a lot of experience, so it's not too surprising that they're good in their job.
Farmer, noticing a company in the person of Alissa, Ysabelle, Corine and Faye, went towards them, wanting to give them their favourite dishes, made perfectly by Farmer themself. But the poor fella was stunned by a wave of heartbreaking scream from the women, for not only had Farmer approached them unnoticed, but it was evening, and to see a stranger behind you, whose skin was blue as blueberry and glowed a little in the dark, was unexpected and frightening. "Farmer, what's wrong with your skin!? You need to see Dr Paula right away!" Ysabelle moved away quickly from the shock, and so did the other girls, changing to concern. Now Farmer had to run away from the company, who were very insistent on sending them to the clinic to see the military doctor (especially Corine and Faye).
Ewww, what is that? Why is Farmer so, uh, blue? Is it a disease? Is it contagious? Louie's gonna take a couple steps back, just in case. And tell them to see a doctor or something. It's not contagious? Good, now let's go to the kitchen, Louie needs a sandwich and Sonny's not around. Mhm, delicious! Perfect food for him! Of course his serva- uh, friend, makes perfect sandwiches! Even his family friends have to do everything perfectly.
Ariah takes one slightly concerned look at the visiting Farmer and advises them to go see Dr. Paula for a medical checkup. Considering how perceptive a young girl she is and has an analytical mindset, she would have noticed something about Farmer's perfect action right away.... if she hadn't been completely immersed in her exams. Ariah has absolutely no time at all to observe Farmer and their "perfectness," law test is in a couple days, she can't afford distractions.
"Look, Farmer's skin is blue!" Yuuma looked a little angrily at Keahi and Trinnie who shouted those words and pointed at Farmer with their fingers, because it wasn't nice to say that. Though he also looked worriedly at the adult because it was definitely not normal. But their parents told the kids that Farmer was okay and to behave. Not that the local kiddos had time to notice Farmer's "perfectness" except for one comment from Keahi that Farmer always hits the exact target at the Stardew Fair festival games. They quickly forget though, because Farmer buys them goodies and toys with their tokens, awesome! They're the cool adult!
In fact, when Naomi and Shiro heard from Yuuma that Farmer had turned blue, Naomi asked her youngest son to be polite and not point fingers at the people with the other local children, while Shiro laughed a little and thought his brother was imagining things. But lo and behold, when both adults saw Farmer walking past, they opened their mouths in surprise, and Yuuma said that he "told them, it's true." The veteran will enquire sometime if Farmer is okay, but to be completely honest, the Kobayashi family will be a little too busy to notice Farmer's "perfectness".
Jio and Daia didn't just notice the obvious, they felt the changes. A strange aura, unknown to the members of the Cult, enveloped Farmer from head to toe. At one point they even thought it wasn't Farmer at all, but after checking, Jio with Daia would become convinced that this was the same person who had helped their Lady. Does two assassins know that Farmer is doing everything perfectly now? Of course, Jio is now watching them from the distance while Daia's questioning Farmer directly to report back to Belinda with all the information. Something strange has happened to them...
"Freeze!" Aguar barely caught up to the Farmer, slightly out of breath. "Let me take a look at you..." Indeed, his keen eye did not deceive the former wizard - magic! Unusual, powerful... Huge flow! And their skin... No more questions! Aguar almost forcefully drags Farmer into the laboratory, scaring Maddie, who was working there quietly (not anymore). The lab assistant, unlike her boss, will panic over Farmer's bluish skin and want to send them to the clinic, but Aguar beats her to it. "They're fine, we'll run some tests now in my baseme- Wait, where's Farmer?" Good thing Farmer has a "perfect" escape plan from the lab (Maddie will definitely insist on a day off for herself).
"Oh, that's- oh." Zayne was chatting with his grandmother Maive on another family matter as he noticed with the guests in the manor. The joy was immediately replaced by shock and concern over Farmer's appearance. Zayne wanted to put it mildly, "Hmm, Farmer, your skin-" "WHAT IS THIS! Sonny, call the doctors and paramedics! Irene-" Maive, on the other hand, decided to immediately trumpet the alarm, but better safe than sorry (poor terrified Amethyne's servants...) After a full hour of checking that Farmer isn't sick with some weird contagious disease, everyone will calm down, more or less. However, Maive will insist on another check-up with the best doctors she can find, as she is concerned about Farmer's health after all. Zayne, Irene and Sonny would agree with her. The day had been so exhausting that Farmer no longer wanted to tell the Amethyne family their story of achieving Perfection...
Ay ay ay, what a catch! Carmen had never seen such a big trout before! And Farmer had caught a dozen of them in half an hour, while she hadn't even hooked one. Way to go! Williy said the art of fishing was dying out, but look at this youth! Yeah, Carmen was a little worried when she noticed the blueness in Farmer's skin, but they said it was fine, so they know better. Hey, another one, pull the rod, Farmer!
Blair also didn't leave out Farmer's perfect fish catch and the strange unnatural shade of their skin, though she was more focused on uncovering their secret. What secret? And how would the young fisherwoman know, without watching them? Could be anything: magic fishing rod, magic in general. It might not even be the real Farmer! So she needs to find out what they're hiding and get someone to help her (Keahi and Sean, for example).
Just as Farmer took a step into Ridge forest, Belinda came out of nowhere and grabbed their arm, giving them an intimidating look. And then a flash - they were both in the cleared Spirit's Realm now, next to a worried Raeriyala. "And now, my dear farmer, you will tell me everything." She had been looking for one particular person (entity, rather) who would answer her questions. And Farmer, judging by their new "style" and aura, would be able to help her in her search. Rae, on the other hand, was trying to calm down her lover, as poor Farmer was about to faint from fear.
Ezekiel shakes her head and grumble under her breath that "kids these days have gone insane with their "fashion." First they make themselves huge holes on their jeans, and now they're painting their skin blue! Thanks for the baked fish, Farmer (it smells delicious, just like Helen used to make it...), but you'd better wash the paint off your skin, it looks silly. "That natural skin colour..... now." Yeah, right. Bah! Ezekiel goes about his business, which he has a whole bunch of, so he has no time about "perfect" blue Farmer right now, to be honest.
"Hey, Farmer, looking goooooo.... um, what happened to you?" Jeric's cheerful smile slowly slid off as they noticed Farmer's bluish skin. It looks a little scary, but at the same time.... somehow mesmerising, and such a glow, wow! He doesn't know how to explain it, but it looks good on Farmer? Yeah. It's nothing bad, right? Oh good, Jeric is glad his friend is okay. And aww yeah, spaghetti and gravy, his favourite! His friend's got the best food he's ever had, even better than at Pika's!
"So I'm not the only one seeing this? Ugh, I thought I was going crazy from lack of sleep..." Well, maybe Bryle isn't crazy, but definitely need some rest, Jeric thinks at least. But how can bodyguard rest when there is an increased threat of attack/kidnapping of the Governor and his adopted son, who is also Bryle's best friend? Ok, what are they talking about? Ah, right, the blue Farmer. Well, since they say they're okay, Bryle will believe it. Though he'll do a curiosity search to find out what this phenomenon is.
It looks like Lola and Freddie haven't paid any attention to Farmer's skin, as if the older couple didn't notice it at all, still addressing their young friend and adventurer as always. Except they realise everything, the obvious things and what is hidden from the eyes of ordinary people. Whatever magic it is, Freddie and Lola sense it. And they see how Farmer gets everything right on the first try. But they keep quiet, not giving themselves away. The ex-assassins want to make sure it's really Farmer, and whether they hasn't changed after... the aftermath of their adventures, apparently.
"Ha! Blair and Keahi pranked you, right?" Instead of the usual greeting, Sean let out a laugh that sounded more like the sound of a boiling kettle. First the stink bug, now the paint, hilarious. For which, by the way, he gets a cuff on the nape from Ian, because not only is Sean being an asshole, but he's also scaring off their regular customer. After Farmer explains that they've turned blue due to "unusual circumstances", both men immediately become more serious. "Are you sure you're okay?" Farmer reassures the two of them that they are fine. Ian and Sean will somehow notice their friend's slightly odd behaviour when they're mending farm fence in the morning, but won't pay much attention to it.
The enemy is in the den! Kiwi stabs the intruder- What? It's Kiwi's friend, Farmer! But... Kiwi don't understand. It's Farmer in front of the Kiwi, but something's happened to them. Kiwi feels magic, strange, strong.... And Farmer has turned blue like some of the wild berries that grow in the forest! What's wrong with Farmer? What "perfection" did they mean? Weird... Kiwi will wait for Jio and then they'll sort it out, but in the meantime... Kiwi's on guard, just in case. No, no "perfect" plum pudding, Kiwi's waiting for Jio.
Sigh... It was that damned old wiring again, Kenneth had told Lewis so many times that it was time to change it.... Okay, he has to get his tools now and- "Hey Kenneth!" The poor electrician nearly broke his neck falling down the ladders. "Your skin-" "Got a problem here? I'll help you!" In no time, the wiring in the electrical box is as good as new, and they, not forgetting to help Kenneth up, went on about their business. The electrician doesn't know what he's more shocked about: the blue tone of Farmer's skin, or the fact that they fixed the old wiring in a minute. Literally, in just a minute.
Philip and Flor were just standing chatting outside the Cabin Log Hotel when the red-haired girl covered her mouth in horror and the physiotherapist turned his head towards the direction his companion was looking. Blue Farmer. Blue. Farmer. Blue... They.... Are they choking?! Okay, he's about to give them first aid! "Guys, I'm fine." ???? Ok... Farmer isn't choking, they both felt a little calmer, but.... "Your skin looks unnatural, it's like you've been dyed. I'm taking you to the clinic urgently, let's get Harvey see you." No, Philip, there's no need- "And I'll contact Paula." Flor, not you too- Well, Farmer needs a "perfect" escape from his overreacting friends.
Oh, Lenny, Richard, Lorenzo and Shanice already know about the situation with Farmer, as half the village is gripped by a wave of panic. Most trumpeting the alarm was the madame herself, who had time to call Lenny and warn her to quarantine the village due to the "threat of an unknown disease from Farmer," Richard about available place/shelter, and Lorenzo with Shanice about food supplies for the villagers. The panic started as quickly as it ended, though, and everyone got used to the blue Farmer (Lenny almost fell to the floor laughing). Farmer even took a little offence at this panic, all they wanted to do was treat the residents to their perfectly made food and gifts...
"June, are you trying to burn the forest with your cigarette?" The pianist had no such thought, and the cigarette fell from his mouth because he opened it in surprise. "Your skin-" "Is it blue? Yeah, I know, and no, it's not a disease or poisoning, I've already had to explain that to the others...." So, Farmer's going to tell June how that happened, right? Because that's definitely a story a pianist would listen to. "Sure, you can also listen to me play the piano." But Farmer said before that they didn't know how to play??? "Well, now i can. And other instruments." What-
Torts slowly approached Farmer, sniffed them, and quickly crawled back to his little house. Farmer would think that the turtle was behaving rather strangely. It's as if they are a stranger to him, even though they and the reptile had been friends for a long time. Alright, maybe Torts is in a bad mood or something. Except that he understands what happened to Farmer, sees not only their skin colour, but also what mere mortals can't see. Farmer has achieved Perfection. Good, good... Their bravery, their determination, their good heart..... The village, and the whole Valley, is in safe hands.
#ridgeside village#rsv#cannot tag everyone because of the limit so just main tags#rsv headcanons#thanks for the ask!#sdv mods#In my mind all villagers in such a situation would be divided into two groups#the first one: pure panic and suspicions#the other one: “Oh dear! Anyway...”

Hi I’m a new follower of Brigid, what things are sacred to her - animals, crystals, plants ect
Wikipedia came up with the birch tree being sacred to her but other sources have the oak
If you also have any books/info sources where I can learn more about her I’d love to hear your reccomendations
Hello, welcome to the hearth! So, what I know about Brigid, I've learned from books, blogs, videos, and historical sources. I'll list some of those first so you can do some deep diving yourself:
Brigid: History, Mystery, and Magick of the Celtic Goddess by Courtney Weber (available through Hoopla via the public library system if you're in the US, available through her Etsy shop as well) - this was written by a self-appointed priestess of Brigid practicing in Ireland and the US.
The House Witch by Arin Hiscock-Murphy and The Kitchen Witch by Skye Alexander (both also available through Hoopla I believe and most places books are sold) both have brief bios of Brigid and some tips for working with her as a hearth goddess - take these with a slight grain of salt as they have some Wiccan influence.
Lots of books of Irish folklore include some stories of the Tuatha de Danann, which are the gods of Ireland. There's also some great stories in Scottish and Welsh folklore that you can look into - try The Mabinogion for more information about her Welsh pantheon.
Brigid's Wiki has some great sources at the bottom to jump to.
A profile of the Lady from Druidry.org - take this with a mild grain of salt.
History Cooperative's entry on Brigid - this focuses a lot on her Spring goddess aspect.
Encyclopedia Britannica's entry about Brigid (using the Scottish spelling, Brigit) has some solid base info.
A quick and easy video overview
A look at the Welsh pantheon of which Brigid (in Cymru, Braid) is a part
I don't have a specific source for this, but you might also look into St. Brigid of Kildare, an Irish saint who led a convent centered on a site holy to the goddess Brigid and is popularly interpreted as either a priestess of Brigid who carried her practice in secret through the conversion of Ireland or a version of the goddess herself accepted as a folk saint by practitioners who "converted" to save themselves from Christian "missionaries."
Obviously this isn't everything I've read/looked at, but it's a pretty good starter set of information if you're just starting working with her and not sure what aspects of Brigid you'd like to work with. So now, I'll share what I interpret as her symbols and associations, then what working with her looks like for me. Your experience will probably be different, and that's good! Deity relationships are personal and up to what you need them to be. Hope this helps!
My interpretation of Brigid's symbology:
Basic domain/"Goddess of":
Fire, inspiration, creative works (poetry especially)
Healing, wells, flowing/healing water
The forge, handicrafts (weaving, knitting, crochet, etc.)
Springtime, fertility, rebirth
Associated holidays:
Imbolc (February 1-2)
Associated colors:
Yellow
Orange
Gold
White
Associated animals:
Cows
Sheep
Domesticated animals/livestock generally
Associated herbs/gems:
Marigolds
Sunflowers
Oaks/acorns
Citrine
Red Jasper
Associated food/drinks:
Bread
Wheat
Water
Mead
Milk
Honey
Spiced things - apple cider, cinnamon rolls, etc.
What working with Brigid looks like for me:
Brigid is a motherly figure to work with, but in a more "tough love" sense than some other mother figures. She's willing to work with you and help you grow, but boy will she tell you when you fuck up! I've found working with her to be comforting and encouraging; she makes me feel confident in myself and my abilities and she pushes me to be a better witch, a better mother, and a better person generally.
You don't have to worship Brigid as the only deity in your work, either. In my practice, I've found she gets along well with the Virgin Mary and is cordial with Lady Minerva. She also seems to get on well with Jesus and the Abrahamic God, though she doesn't really get involved with those outside her pantheon.
I've found that the best ways of communicating with Brigid are through tarot, ogham, and astragalomancy (dice). She likes offerings of things you've made - bread you baked, spice mixes you put together, things you've crocheted or knitted or woven or sewn. She also loves tea - making a cup and sharing it with her is a great way to venerate her! I feel her presence as a warmth, like a fire in my chest and a warm blanket over my shoulders. She likes working with me in kitchen witchery and workings related to creativity, inspiration, luck, and healing. I keep space for her in my main altar and my kitchen altar, though I think if she had to choose, she'd prefer to be venerated in a kitchen altar.

butt?
I had to substitute it for arse, sorry. Exploratory fic I began to explore some character dynamics and what the lifestyle of 4 growing nations and their mother in their last real time together would be like in a slightly Post-Roman Iron Age estate as the Migration period picks up and Germanic peoples cross the North Sea to make a home. I believe of these earlier themes have their origin with @balladofthewhitehorse.
5th Century AD, Cumbria
"Rhys," Alasdair appeared at the fence line, his face gloomy. Rhys had stopped here for his mid-day meal halfway between where the shepherds had herded the sheep in the northernmost glen and their home behind on the hill. It'd been a long two days in the hills. He offered the cider flask to his brother as Alasdair approached, his frown deepening. It wasn't raining, and the day's work wouldn't have been hard. Bad news, then. It was always bad news.
"What is it this time?"
"Rot in the south store."
"Oats, rye or wheat?" Rhys asked. The rye they might go without, but the rain hadn't come so early that anything else should rot.
"Oats,"
"Fuck." Rhys sat on the low wall of flagstones and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Fuck,"
He glanced up. His brother looked even more dour. "Gods, what else?"
"Seven horses," Alasdair said, sitting beside Rhys, boneless and upset.
Rhys gaped at him. "Seven? That's three more than were sick yesterday!"
"It's spreading." Alasdair shrugged helplessly. "I took the healthy ones into the third stables, and it didn't help."
"Is it distemper?"
"I didn't think so," Alasdair said. "They weren't so feverish, and there wasn't pus, but now I don't know.
"So, no horses to sell this year. At least half the oats are gone."
"Rhys." Alasdair's ingot grey gaze fell heavily, and Rhys glanced at his brother.
"I know," He said, and Alasdair didn't look convinced. He looked at his elder brother with a firm look. "I know."
"If we can't pay the tributes…"
He thought of the mustached helmets of the German kings and exhaled. "We don't know that we can't pay. There's plenty to sell."
"It's not just a lack of goods I'm worried about. It's been a bad year for everyone. There might not be anyone to sell to."
"There must be," Rhys said, pulling his cloak tighter over his shoulders. "There will be. We'll figure it out."
"I suppose all we can do is pray," Alasdair said.
Rhys frowned. Alasdair was the one with a mind for numbers, but he always worried, and they always managed before. So what if the horses would not fetch the total price if they were ill come market day? There was still the wool, the fine worked saddles he and Alasdair had made the year before, and plenty of cattle, sheep, honey and mead to sell. There were options. They had options.
"I'll see to the horses; if none of them die, we'll be fine," Alasdair said. "We have ore too. I might get a good price for my boar spears."
"Maybe," Rhys said. His hope was teetering precariously on the assumption that his brother was overly worried.
There was an unspoken sense of doom between them, both praying their worries were unfounded. Rhys grimaced after they parted ways at the outer gate, Alasdair marching off to the stables and Rhys to the poultry yard and the hives. One of the women in his mother's service alerted him to the fact that another of the hives had gone dark with rot. Honey was expensive, and now there wouldn't be enough to sell and use themselves over the long winter. Rhys waved her off with a pinched-off smile.
He stood in the poultry yard for a long moment, leaning against the half gate that kept the hens, quail, and ducks safe in their enclosure and away from the hounds. He watched Arthur tumble after a goose, laughing as it squawked and ducked him. Their dinner pail of scraps and grain was sitting neglected as he played, but Rhys looked on, letting him play. They'd have to keep more honey than what he'd wanted to sell, if only for Arthur's sake. Honey cakes with stored apples and cheese or on bread were one of those precious things that would cheer him when the worst of the winter gloom gripped him worse than any of them. Arthur rolled to a halt, cackling as the goose bobbed angrily and finally noticed him.
"Rhys!" He grinned, leaping to his feet and making a beeline for him. He exhaled a loud "oomph" as Arthur knocked into him, throwing his arms around him. "You're back!"
"I was only gone a night," He laughed. "How is Mother? And where is your cloak? Have you lost it again?"
"The same," Arthur said. "Maybe a little better. She laughed this morning when I fell right on my arse out of bed. Bridgie pushed me."
"Good! And you probably deserved it. You kick in your sleep." He replied, and his smile was genuine. Mother had at least made an effort to shake her recent gloom then. She'd been thinner, paler, and sadder than he'd ever seen her in the last few years, and it hadn't gotten any better as the days became shorter. "And your cloak?"
"I forgot it!"
"You'll catch your death." Rhys ruffled his hair. "Hurry and feed the birds and come in for dinner."

You are magnificent and Your grace protects me in the face of evil. Mighty Thor, wise, compassionate Friend of humanity, look upon us and wield Your hammer for our protection. Gracious Sif, You Whose gentle touch causes the grain to grow, please nourish us, restore us, and grant us the fortitude to walk in alignment with the Holy Powers always. Through Your blessings, may we grow strong in faith. through Your blessings may we grow strong in devotion. Through Your blessings, may we always resist impiety, may we be nourished as the grain is nourished under Your caring hands. In times of peril, come to our aid, I pray. In times of desperation, I place myself under Your care.nHail Thor, Son of Odin. Hail Sif, His Gracious Bride.
To Thor
Son of Strength. I ask you to grant me that strength. That I may lift the weight of the day. Defender of Midgard. Grant me your skill in battle. That I may protect my family, my land and my kin. Apologies if this is a repeat ask, my mind is melting a bit cause of the heat, but are there any holidays or festivals that are celebrated in Dirtmouth?
Hi I know this ask is very old, but at the time I didn't have any worldbuilding related to holidays. Now I have some ideas, and I'd love to talk about them!
First, I want to mention how the year is divided in my AU. There are three seasons recognized in Hallownest: Snowmelt, Harvest and Nightfall. Snowmelt is their equivalent of spring, it lasts three months. Harvest is, as the name suggests, the season where most of the crops are harvested, it follows the warmest day of the year, and it also lasts three months. Nightfall is the longest season of the year lasting six months, and is characterized by the near absence of sunlight and snowfall.
I'll start with some celebrations that take place in Snowmelt. Also, just to not overcomplicate things, these are the holidays celebrated in Dirtmouth; things most definitely look different underground, but I want to focus on DIrtmouth as that's the key location of the AU.
New Day is their new year celebration, it is where the bugs reflect on the previous year and make wishes for the one that follows. Historically it was first celebrated on the day the snow melted for the first time, which gave the name of the season. A symbolic bonfire, which I'll mention later, is lit for the last time before Nightfall.
Flower Hunt and Love Day are two holidays that happen one after another. During the first one, the young ones gather flowers for a large bouquet while the adults sing, dance and drink. Flower petals are collected, many of which end up decorating the streets of Dirtmouth. The latter of the two, as you'd expect, is the day where bugs celebrate their love and appreciation for their partners, families and friends, gifts are shared and flower petals co
First Sow is a symbolic planting of the first seed, which will be harvested in the following season. A small feast is held during this day.
Sun Festival is the day which celebrates the hottest day of the year, and marks the end of Snowmelt. It's one of the biggest celebrations in Dirtmouth, with picnics, singing and dancing, and various competitions. Many merchants visit the town during this holiday to sell their wares and participate in the celebrations.
These are the holidays I came up with for the first season, and the ones I focused on the most. The other two seasons are still very much work in progress in this aspect.
I'll start with the three Harvest holidays I have so far.
The first one is Old Light's Dusk, which originated under the name Old Light's Dawn. It used to be a day dedicated to The Radiance, as her worship was a lot more widespread years before The Pale King's arrival. Now, it is the day that celebrates the end of her infection, with a symbolic basket of feathers being burnt and offerings being given to The Ghost of Hallownest memorial.
Harvest Fair is when all the fruits of the harvest are enjoyed, Dirtmouth holds the biggest feast of the year to celebrate. The holiday involves a lot of dancing, singing and, of course, drinking, with mead, wine and cider offered for free to anyone who joins the celebrations. The Troupe also prepares a special performance at the Longhouse.
Spirits' Rest is the remembrance day of those who passed. I don't have many details for this one yet, but I do think it would involve visiting the graves and lighting a symbolic light.
And lastly, the two Nightfall holidays so far.
The season begins with Sun's Farewell, a day where the bugs symbolically say goodbye to the sun and prepare for the long night that will soon come. The main focus of this day is the bonfire in the center of the town, which is lit for the first time and then kept ablaze for the remainder of the season.
The second holiday I have some ideas for, at this moment, is the Fire Festival. This one was introduced fairly recently, after The Troupe settled in Dirtmouth. Those who wish to celebrate gather around a fire and watch Grimmkin put on a show full of fiery tricks and dances.
---
Okay, this is all I have for now. I'm still slowly working on this part of the worldbuilding, but it's been really fun so far! I hope you like it, and I'm open for any suggestions for more holidays!!

you really can't convince me sabine doesn't know how to brew her own alcohol; like that just doesn't make sense to me
sabine wren is the type of person who lives by 'fuck it we fuckin' ball' mentality, and if there's a will, there will be a fucking way
she probably taught herself how to distill moonshine-like drinks, probably also learned how to brew spotchka herself but never really gotten the taste as quite right as the ones she got from cantinas
so, let's say she found native fruits or grains in peridea; what's to stop girlie from brewing her own batch of liquor from it?
i wanna say she experiments with making meads or some sort, because fucking hell, she's getting absolutely sick of drinking ahsoka's strong ass liquors. sabine compares it to drinking disinfectant, and it's probably why ahsoka kept it hidden
ahsoka knows, but she doesn't say anything because she finds it hilarious when sabine complained of a bitching headache one morning, and when she refuses to drink it again when they're sat out around the fire after dinner
her homemade alcohol made from native fruits aren't exactly top quality, but it's closer to a hard cider. sabine takes it as a win, though, and ahsoka liked it.
sabine joked how she could probably start a brewery or a cantina in this planet when she shared the drink with shin one night while she was out, and shin isn't impressed with the joke. she is, however, impressed with the drink sabine made
also this could def work with modern au sabine, but that's a thought for another time
