we need to speak more about why car guy mike is so hot

is it the competence? the control? the danger? does car guy mike drive dangerously? he seems to hate max's and argyle's fast driving but maybe he's a bit of a speed demon when he gets behind the wheel himself

or maybe he is sort of fast but not as nuts as them

i just like the idea of will watching his hands as he turns the wheel and holds the gearstick... oh, yes, it needs to be an old manual transmission or how will Will get the most out of seeing mike in actual control ?? 😊😊 bonus points if its so old that they can scooch together in the bench front seat 😊😊

Oooh, a fun one! I go back and forth on the type of driver Mike would be. I am coping out and saying that I think he'd actually be a combination of both. Competent, really good, careful driver - but, he thinks he's totally so in control and proficient that his sometimes reckless moves he defends with an abrasively smug "WHAT? I know what I'm doing!" He hates backseat drivers when he's the one behind the wheel, but he's a total hypocrite when he's in the reverse situation.

He's not a speed freak and he's not aggressive, but he's not hesitant. He's confident. He has really good control of the vehicle, but his sudden changes/decisions make others in the car question that if he's not alone. He's really into the technical aspects of driving, as well as knowing what he can get away with. He's also anti-authority, so it's a point of pride that sometimes he might pull a stunt that has Will giving him am exasperated look like "you really just did that" (actually impressed) to which Mike's mindset is "it's only a problem if you get caught." Fuck cops, basically.

Mike knows he's a good driver. Will's a terrible driver. Anxious, failed the test more than once. Hesitant while also internally panicking over a certain decisions. Mike isn't going to do something reckless for the hell of it - he's not a thrill seeker or adrenaline junkie behind the wheel, but he'll do what he needs to do. He loves driving. And he actually loves learning the mechanical and technical aspects of how cars work, what everything means, a point of pride whenever he's a car owner himself.

Why is it hot? It's the control. The confidence he has. The way he looks when he's driving. You know Will's looking at his hands, he loves those hands so much. Strong and capable, you are spot on with the manual style. Of course. He's captivating, and we might be viewing him a little heavily filtered through Will's eyes, but such is the plight of a fan, putting yourself into your favorite character's brain.

Here is the rock I stood by when Jon smashed up the table. Here is the tree I sat under while I listened to Elias Bouchard bludgeon Jurgen Leitner’s skull into a bloody pulp with a lead pipe.”
