Miss Dolly earned her NW2 title with an overall 2nd place finish for fastest total time, and a 1st place finish in containers…! (There were 4 NW2 titles earned out of a total of 27 teams.) The judges also recognized our two container searches and our one interior searches as pronounced.

We are very thankful to our judges, CO, hosts, and volunteers.

No placements and only 4/5 Pronounced. It's just so fun to watch him search and creatively source some of the hides, lol. One of the judges asked if he was the class clown. I'm like I don't know how to answer this, lol. His instructor, who was the CO in training, was there and said "He takes after flat-coats." 🫠

Dragging my Way Home

definitely find an experienced instructor. that’s what we did.

if that’s absolutely not feasible, there are good videos on youtube. just decide which organization you wanna go with. we do NACSW.

@wyrddogs, I think your last paragraph is a huge part of it. We just have to find "our people," and that makes the less savory aspects more tolerable. I know I had a lot of great, supportive, people when I was young and that really impacted which organizations and club events I attended. I think as I got older though, I became aware of a lot more cattiness, but by then I made deeper bonds with the "good" people, so it overrides that. I have to wonder if handlers starting as juniors get more support, though.

I finally attended an agility trial last month hosted by a club I have trialed at many times in the past, but haven't been entered a show since 2016. I knew a few people there, but there were a lot of people that I didn't know and honestly....I'm not vibing with a lot of agility people these days. There was one person trying to tell my mom and me some most likely inaccurate gossip about people we happen to have known for years and were relatively close to, lmao. (If anyone reads this that doesn't follow my blog, I moved a state over in 2022. This gossip person didn't know my mom or me.)

Heck, I don't even know if I vibe with the other sports I'm competing in these days, but I do generally like a lot of the local dog club members that are participating, so I guess that's good enough. Actually, scratch that. I volunteered at one NACSW event and there was A LOT of shitting on AKC. :))))))) I was like wow, totally wanna come and compete here with my dog that has only done AKC so far. :))))))) The AKC scent work people have overall seemed chill. Obedience and rally are...obedience and rally, lmao.

In the same vein as my Dog Thoughts post about performance foundations last night, the more I watch Sports People, the more motivated I am to distance myself from them and be done with dog sports completely.

Finished a full day trial and sick of my shit lol. We got two NW3 element titles at our trial last weekend but didn't manage to get our 2nd full NW3 title. Soon!

Mr Link passed his NACSW ORT (Odor Recognition Test) back in Oct and was able to earn his NW1 (Nose Work Level 1) title today!

Very proud of his work ethic and drive. This good boy will get lots of treats and snuggles today.

Mud earned his NW1 today! Pronounced in all four elements. Placed 3rd in Exterior and Containers.

I guess we'll be trying for an NW2 whenever one rolls around that I actually want to drive to. (There is one like 4 hours away at a western movie set next February that I'm considering. That just sounds like a fun site.)
