It has everything, but it's too short.

I just finished watching a full playthrough of Ratchet and Clank Into the Nexus by Full Playthroughs. I had also played that game back in 2013, just when it came out. I was very happy to be able to play another Ratchet and Clank game, and I really enjoyed playing Into the Nexus. This game has everything, but unfortunately, it's too short. I finished it in 1 day. I feel like the developers didn't try enough to release the new Ratchet & Clank in the same fashion as the previous games, not to mention that this game was released just a month before PlayStation 4 came out.

Let me tell you briefly about the plot with my own words: The game starts on a spaceship freighter that serves as a prison where Ratchet and Clank, along with their robot friends Cronk and Zephyr, need to escort Vendra Prog, the dangerous and cold criminal, to the prison, but they get attacked by Neftin Prog, Vendra's brother, who hired Thugs 4 Less, the guns-for-hire, to get Vendra out. The freighter explodes, killing Cronk and Zephyr along with it, and Ratchet and Clank are the only survivors. They manage to slip into one of Thugs 4 Less' ships that takes them all the way to Zarkov Sector, the sector that was declared abandoned and haunted. They land on one of the planets out there, Yarik or whatever it's called, and they find out that Vendra and Neftin contacted a monster being, called Mr. Eye, who they want to bring into their world, using a low-budget Dimensinator, the device that opens portals to other worlds. Ratchet and Clank manage to escape, and they need stop Vendra and Neftin from bringing Mr. Eye to their world. They track Vendra and Neftin on Silox (if I remember the name correctly), the abandoned urban planet. But they're late. Vendra manages to summon and bring Mr. Eye into their world. Instead of working with Vendra, Mr. Eye's minions capture and take Vendra into the Nether, their world. Ratchet and Clank team up with Neftin to get the real dimensinator, located in a museum on planet Igliak, so they can banish Mr. Eye and his minions from their world, and free Vendra.

After watching and coming back to this game, I had the idea: I could write a fan fiction of this game. I wouldn't change anything in the original, but rather expand the storyline. Like, how were Vendra and Neftin able to make their own dimensinator? How did Vendra get caught in the first place? How did she get into contact with Mr. Eye? (Well, that part is somehow explained by the number of dictaphones we find in the game). Ratchet & Clank is an adventure game, and adventure games have to be lengthy (10 hours or so). There's got to be more to this story than me, and other gamers like me, didn't get to see. I really want that to happen.

One more thing: at the end of the game, after Ratchet and Clank had a small talk in front of Cronk and Zephyr's statues in the museum, Ratchet leaves alone, and Clank picks up the real (and now broken) dimensinator, and takes it with him. Then the scene ends, and the credits start rolling. That actually makes perfect sense, given that in Rift Apart, Clank builds back the dimensinator by himself as a gift to Ratchet so he can find Lombaxes, his species. If anything, Insominac Games actually continued from Into the Nexus instead of the remake (and the movie).

If Insominac ever plans on remaking this game (it's only available on PS3), I'll send them the script of mine. If anything, I can at least show my writing skills.

Huh, now this wasn't something one saw often; Neftin Prog, on the couch, reading a book instead of working on some broken junk for once. Completely relaxed and engrossed by the story. "Huh, so that's why things ended like that... interesting." Now things were beginning to make sense in the story for him. Also, he finally understood why his sister liked this particular book series so much. It came with a lot of twists and surprises. "They really don't know when to stop lying though to-"

The giant abruptly stopped, eye widening in what was a mix between shock and fear, and nearly threw the poor little book across the room when he heard what sounded like glass shattering right next to him and... someone talking? "Why -WHAT?! Oh come on, we just got that fixed!" Neftin quickly got up on his feet again and set the book down on the coffee table when he finally saw what had caused all the ruckus. Some stupid bot had smashed the new window and was now trying to get away! "Oh no you don't!" Thinking quickly, he ran over to scene of the crime and reached one of his massive hands out through the now empty window frame to grab a hold of the robot and pull them inside. Bringing them up to face one clearly angry cyborg.

And here comes the robotic lady smashing her computer head through the window, along with half of her body, before greeting the other. "Hello~! You called about a junk pile-up blocking your do--"

Cora paused, mouth seemingly taking the place of eyes as it moved about and looked around. It was then she realized something. "Oops! Wrong house! How embarrassing! Sorry!" She's just going to pull herself out and start to leave.

Well, he knew this wasn't going to be easy. Or even straightforward. In fact, it would have been incredibly surprising, had they just blindly agreed to his offer right from the get-go. Especially with how immediately defensive they both seemed in his presence.

Nefarious watched as Vendra swiftly readied her netherblades, and as Neftin moved to position himself protectively in front of his sister... and he almost laughed at the sight. The robot had to admit, it was quite the ego-boost to know that the hulking behemoth that was Neftin Prog was intimidated by him. Or at the very least, was aware that he could be a threat.

"People like me? Well, now that's just insulting." Despite the words, the smirk remained planted on his face—a smirk that only seemed to grow as Vendra spoke. "...I'm sure the both of you have heard all kinds of things about me, but you'll be happy to know that I can actually be very accommodating! Really, there are no need for weapons..." He glanced to the netherblades Vendra wielded. "Besides! You wouldn't be doing anything illegal." Not directly at least. "And just to prove I mean it, I'm even willing to negotiate!"

He paused a moment, metallic fingers tapping together in anticipation.

"I just want some information on the Netherverse. That's all! But particularly, it's energy... I understand you could use a bit of it too, am I right?" He eyed Vendra a moment. "You could have it back, if you wanted. I'd be sure to arrange that." His eyes focused on Neftin now. "Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry so much about her anymore...? And wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about something going wrong in that circuitry of yours either? I can help you!" He laughed and could hardly hold back his excitement as he addressed them both now. "And we all know how nice it would be to not have to worry about bolts anymore! Think about it. You could go off, and finally live a normal life without worry! Your reputation would be in no danger at all! No one would even know we spoke! In fact, you only stand to benefit! All for a little information."

They really had the worst luck in the entire universe, didn't they? All the twins wanted was to have a normal day where they could hang out together and, well, do sibling stuff! And the day had been perfect... until Nefarious showed up. Then everything changed in the blink of an eye. Vendra, having little to no energy left in her body, pulled out her trusted Netherblades while Neftin made sure to put himself right in between the doctor and his dear sister. Keeping her where he knew she would be safe if anything bad were to happen.

Nothing about the random meeting made any sense to them until they heard the robot's offer, the things he was willing to do in exchange for some information. It all sounded too good to be true - which it probably was. They would be fools if they put their trust in someone like Nefarious.

"Yeah right." Neftin snorted right back at the doctor before he took a step forward, almost ready to punch the robot right then and there, until he suddenly he heard his sister say "stop" in a surprisingly soft yet commanding voice. The giant wasn't sure what his sister was up to but, if this was what she wanted him to do, then he wouldn't question her decision. He would stay where he was while Vendra came out into the open, Netherblades still at the ready in her hands.

"Well, I must admit, what you have to offer is tempting, and definitely something we're both in need of. I want to accept it, say "let's make it happen" and give you what you whatever it is you wish to gain information on, but... I know better than to rush into things blindly. That and to put my trust in people like you. It has caused us nothing but trouble and pain in the past and I would like to avoid that at all costs now." They were trying to live a normal life after all.

Sergio, examine the Prog twins.

A tiny Nether witch and a giant Nether brute, both fraternal twins, both with fiery purple hair, both with long rap sheets. As for the former, you wonder if you'd have been as attracted to her if you knew about said rap sheet. After long consideration, you realize that it wouldn't have stopped you. Her kindness, technical know-how, and her witchlike charm had all enthralled you from day one, and your mutual desire to grow closer to each other only grew from that point.

The only thing that would have stopped you would be her brother, which he almost did at one point. Because Vendra vouched for you, you were fated to die another day. But deep down, you get it. If you had any family left, you'd fiercely protect them, too. Neftin's a fighter, probably had been his whole life. Because he's not the same sort of brute you had to deal with in Solana, the two of you share a sort of mutual respect for each other. The day his heart pump needed fixing was the day that you realized that you and him were true brothers-in-arms. Perhaps the next time he goes on patrol, he could use some backup...

((Pfft, I got more ideas, and Jim isn't happy about it (or at least pretends not to). What started of as him just being Vendra and Neftin's parole officer has now turned into him also becoming a sort of older brother to them as time goes by. Zack, Jim's adopted younger brother who is a Linexa, will be in for a big shock once he learns about his new siblings.))

Now that was something that rang a familiar bell in his head. Though his knowledge was a tad bit limited when it came to the supernatural, the giant had read enough books to at least know what a vampire was. Well, normally, anyway.

"A vampire? Okay. That's a new one. But, um, no. I've never met a vampire before. Not here on earth or any of the other planets in the galaxy I'm from. Honestly, I never thought I would come across one of you guys in my life." Let alone one that was apparently a vegetarian by choice. Not something he expected to happen in his life, but at least he managed to come across one that didn't thirst for blood. That would have been an awful encounter.

"But you are right; I'm not another vampire, or something related to one. I'm, well... I guess I'm kind of an alien since I'm from another galaxy, but - look, it's a bit complicated. I mean, hell, I'm not even supposed to look like this. My kind, the Nethers, are beings made out of pure energy that comes from a dimension going by the name of the Netherverse. They normally need to wear protective armors in order to survive in other dimensions, but I don't need to since my body has adapted to this one." Which, as always, was a weird thing to be reminded of, but he wouldn't dwell on it for too long.

"And, um, the name's Neftin Prog. I like to keep the cloaking device up in case people happen to decide to take a random stroll through the forest, so, yeah, sorry for what happened. Hope it didn't hurt or anything when you smacked into my invicible cruiser."

Ah, so he had heard right then. The creature he had thought was an ordinary earth bat until the pillow incident had indeed talked. This wasn't a dream or a hallucination brought on by the lack of sleep. Though it was still weird to know that he now had a talking bat with some strange powers in the same room as him, it was at least a relief to know that he wasn't going crazy. Well, at least not this time. He was just damn fricking tired.

Neftin ran a hand over his neck and watched in silence as the strange little bat descended down onto something he didn't pay too much attention to. His eyes were on the bat, and only the bat.

"Yeah, I saw how curious you got." The giant had literally been outside when it all happened, watching in dismay as she squeezed herself into one of the many openings on the invicible cruiser. And don't get him staryed on the damn pillows. He felt, and saw, what she did to them too. The pillow he held over his head was still in his hand for crying out loud! "And, um, I felt what you did with all the pillows here. Thanks for that by the way. It was pretty uncomfortable until you did... whatever you did."

If he didn't known any better, then he would have thought she used magic to fluff them all up. Neftin knew magic was real in some places in the universe, but just how could a bat - WAIT WHAT THE HELL?! "WHOA, WHAT-" Suddenly feeling wide awake, the giant's eye widened and his heart pump began to pick up in speed after he saw the bat transform right before his eyes. This was not something he expected to happen!

"You're not - but how - this isn't..." He trailed off, completely ignoring the question aimed towards his blankets, and let his eyes wander over the person that was now standing before him. "What... are... you...?"

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus rewritten pt. 2

Here is part 2.

After giving an update to Talwyn , Qwark calls the duo saying that the planet he is on is under attack by the Nethers and ask Ratchet and Clank to help. While in the planet the duo discover the Nethers are trying to help Mr. Eye find the location of the real Dimensionator by attacking information centers, so the two and Qwark go to deactivate the planet’s connection to the holonet to stop the Nethers from finding it, which it does but this only buys the heroes some time. The three are almost killed by a Nether but Neftin appears and defeats it, surprising them. Neftin tells them he has a plan to defeat the Nethers and tells the 3 to meet him on Thram. After arriving on Thram and acquiring some horns for the Smuggler so he can activate hoverboot platforms and jetpack refueling stations, Ratchet, Clank, and Qwark eventually get to Neftin’s harder to get to ship, where Neftin tells them that if Ratchet and Clank can get the Dimensionator for him and Pollyx, they can fix it and thus use it to banish the Nethers back to there dimension as well as save Vendra. Ratchet says he will do this if he and Vendra turn themselves in as well as allow Qwark to stay behind to keep an eye on him and Pollyx which Neftin agrees and gives the duo the code need to get the Dimesionator out of its display case but they will need help getting through the museum defenses. Ratchet and Clank go to the Intergalactic Museum of History where after the Talchet hug and Talwyn still missing Cronk and Zephyr scene even having a memorable plaque made for them, Talwyn says that they duo will need to take the museum tour to get to the Dimensionator while she tries to disable the security system as its revealed that the museums is closed and Qwark forgot the password to turn it off.

I can see many changes to the museum that can make it more fun visually and gameplay wise. One improvement is not having to carry a tourbot around with you, instead you follow it from room to room while it talks about displays when you walk over holograms of it. Another change is having a few more rooms to explore like a Galactic map wing where your learn about some planets of the Polaris Galaxy like how planet Reepor has been turned into a junkyard after Tachyon’s defeat, a creature wing filled with Polaris creatures seen since TOD, and a “Mysteries of the Universe” wing where it contains displays of mysterious items scientist are confused by, but are really just references to other PlayStation video game series like an Ottsel skeleton and Precursor egg, a hieroglyphic of Sly Cooper’s cane, and a drawing of an adult Spyro the Dragon. I also have some ideas for some of the existing rooms, one being to make them more challenging as Qwark said the place was impenetrable yet there wasn’t much security there. One idea is having to fight guards in the Groovitron room where once in awhile the Groovitrons in the room can cause the enemies to dance, allowing you to defeat them with ease. Another is having more items in the Lombax room such as the blue Lombax artifact from TOD, having a replica of Azimuth’s ship, and a Alpha Cannon, which you could actually acquire for your arsenal if you hit all the hidden buttons in the museum. Also once Ratchet grabs the Dimesionator I can see him and Clank activating a security system where they fight waves of enemies, including a strong Blaze bot, maybe there is a funny moment where after defeating the Blaze bot 3 more come out and when it looks like there going to destroy the duo till they are deactivated by Talwyn.

With the Dimesionator on hand Ratchet and Clank meet Neftin, Qwark, and Pollyx at the museum’s gift shop where they give it to them, but just like in the original the Nethers start attacking the city trying to find it and thus Ratchet tries to distract the forces while the others fix it. Ratchet first takes out the Nether leaders but he then gets a message from Talwyn saying that Nethers are attacking the building they are hiding in so the duo go and take them out and once they finish fixing the Dimesionator allow Clank to go save Vendra while Ratchet takes the Dimensionator and tries to get away from Mr. Eye but eventually fights him head on in order to protect it. During the Clank sections, I can see Vendra telling the story of Mr. Eye, as he really could have used some development in the game. Turns outs once ever few generations a Nether is born with the ability to reach a Nethers true form (as they usually stop at there Netherbrute stage) and at that form they are given great power which is usually used to replenish the barren Netherverse at the cost of there life, however Mr. Eye decide to us his power to conquer. This caused Vendra and Neftin’s parents to sent them to Ratchet’s dimesion to be safe from him and though Mr. Eye was angry with this, he eventually realized he could use them to enter and eventually conquer that dimension.

Clank saves Vendra and after Ratchet wounds Mr. Eye, he uses the Dimensionator to bring Clank and Vendra back and open a portal to the Netherverse where with Vendra’s powers, is able to cause the portal to suck in all of the Nethers including Mr. Eye though this time his protective gear gets torn off causing him to start dying but luckily the portal closes before he combusts. With Mr. Eye dead, Vendra loses her powers and falls but Neftin catches her and after a warm moment between the siblings Neftin takes her to jail while Ratchet, Clank, Talwyn, and Qwark stare confused till Clank shrugs it off. The game then cuts to the museum where after we see a scene of Talwyn laying down the memorial plague at the Cronk and Zephyr display we see Clank walk up to Ratchet where Ratchet reveals that the Dimesionator is broken again but laughs it off. Clank then ask the question of if Ratchet would use the Dimesinator to see the Lombaxes, Ratchet says no saying there more for him here then there followed with more people he loves, looking at Talwyn when he says love. Ratchet tells Clanks they should join with Talwyn but while Ratchet’s back its turned, Clank grabs the Dimesinator hinting its use in future games.

I know that is a long read but what do you think ? What else could you see happening in a longer Into the Nexus ?
