Growing an audience takes time and getting people to care about your characters can often take more time. I've done a bunch of OCs in the past but none of them really got traction until my IDWTBAMG OCs. I steadily grew my social media following for well over a decade. A lot of checking socialblade, looking at analytics and generally drawing/posting everyday. I have a whole doc available about this type of stuff.

There's no particular shortcut other than happening to go viral or getting really lucky. But I will say "branding" or carving out a niche for yourself over time helps. Although I've been in a number of different fandoms over the past 15 years I've been on the internet, the kind of art I do has been pretty consistent. Lots of shorter, light hearted comics or vignettes highlighting relationships (be them romantic, platonic or familial) and people started enjoying my work for my writing style more so than just what fandom I was creating for.

Finding your community, creating stuff that aligns with those communities and engaging with others is huge. A lot of my work prior to IDWTBAMG centered queer people (specifically sapphics), Black and Asian folks and stylistically is very anime/modern western cartoon inspired. It's what became known for in fandom spaces and what people were following me for. So when I finally did make IDWTBAMG, a concept with anime influences, in a western cartoon style, with two Black, sapphic leads, it just fit right into what I was already doing. Like if you grew your following from doing cute, slice of life stuff, then suddenly dropped a psychological horror comic, chances are it's not gonna grab a large part of your audience. Might bring some new folks in, but you're ultimately kinda starting over and pivoting (that's why rebrands are hard to pull off). This may not be the best example but hopefully you get what I mean. Appeal to the communities you've fostered!

I hate using corporate speak for art but if you ARE trying sell your ideas to people and get your work out there, you do kinda have to learn how to market yourself and your art to some extent. Get in the head of a marketing agent or a brand manager. What's popular right now? How can I use that to my advantage? What times should I be posting my artwork to get the most eyes on this? Who is my target audience and how do I effectively appeal to them while staying true to my own work? Stuff like that. Genuinely, studying how social media managers operate as well as just observing how businesses market their products helped me a lot. "Okay I'm making this animatic, but it won't come out for the next four months. How do I keep people interested and hyped for that amount of time leading up to the pilot's release? I'll keep doing comics here and there so people connect with the characters by the time the pilot comes out. Once I get he VAs recorded, I'll make posts to get people hyped for the casting. I'll upload snippets and behind the scenes stuff to give people a taste of what's to come. I'll release during Black History Month since this is a Black led project with Black characters. I'll have a specific upload time at peak hours to get a good amount of people watching for the premiere and to give the pilot a good running start." This was all stuff I was taking into consideration and planning for.

Then generally, I think people connect to characters more than anything. You can have a cool concept and fun world building ideas but if your execution is bad and your characters aren't compelling, what's the point, y'know? IDWTBAMG isn't a particularly novel concept imo, but I think its strengths lie in the characters and how they interact. The concept is just a tool to give the character dynamics and relationships legs to stand on. So few of the comics I've done with these guys have to do with their lore, it's just small interactions of the girls in class, at a convenience store or just talking to each other in a void. Even though it's simple, that's often the kind of thing people connect with.

Then there's just the technical aspect of having appealing drawing! Getting better at your craft, if nothing else, is good for catching eyes and helping with your execution of your project. While it's not always necessary, I think it helps a lot. I know there's a lot of people who follow me just because they personally like my art style and character design.

Not sure how helpful this actually is LOL. It really does just kinda take time. We all have to start somewhere. I was a "small artist" too at one point. It was years of trial and error, mental breakdowns, finding my own artistic voice and posting artwork almost daily for like 5 years straight. I do think that's why IDWTBAMG ended up being so special to me. It really does feel like a culmination of everything I've learned and all that hard work up to this point and people can kinda feel that.

ZAYN'S FIRST TOUR I can’t believe it’s over guys… like not only my shows, but also the WHOLE TOUR, it’s like a double punch, that was so fucking fun!! But also it’s just the fucking start, by the end he was having so much FUN, we’ve really got him hooked and cleansed of his demons now yall, it is ON and I’m so excited. It was weird having tickets first to the opening show of the whole tour, and then it got changed to somewhere in the middle, and then it got changed again to the LAST two shows of tour, a whole rollercoaster, and not getting the opening show after all was disappointing but in the end I loved getting to go to the end of it. I loved watching the lives- starting out saying, oh I’ll just watch the first one probably, but then it was so good and he ended up being so much fun that I just didn’t want to miss a thing, and the change from start to finish… honestly mind blowing. I went on the first SF night with fellow livestream gang girlie @justanothershadeofblue but also with @uhoh-but-yeah-alright and @homosociallyyours who had not been watching the lives or videos at all, didn’t know the setlist, etc, and seeing him up there just ON FIRE, yelling and bouncing and chatting, so outgoing and excited and comfortable laughing and teasing and playing off the crowd and hitting every mark… I could say to them, wow at the beginning he was so nervous and awkward and mumbly and would mess up and have to be like oh uh can we restart that song all the time and didn't interact with the crowd at all, this is really different, but how can anyone really believe that when he’s just owning the space and yelling FUUUUCK YEAH!! every couple minutes at the top of his lungs?? Incredible!! The BLOSSOMING we've witnessed these last few months has been a fucking gift, for real, I'm so proud and happy for him.

Anyway more specific show thoughts: I danced and waved my arms around like an absolute idiot the whole time it was great, he was SO FUNNY and fun, the energy feedback loop of him getting so excited by us being hype and it feeling so good to make him so happy and getting even more hype, SO FUN, I loved that he seemed to be genuinely excited by the idea of San Francisco for whatever reason even if he did call it San Fran about 8000 times like a giant nerd, like I’m very lucky to live somewhere where I get to see them at all but after how Harry and Louis for example play out in the outlying areas and plus treat Bay Area shows as an afterthought to deal with on their way to LA it felt really nice, and I also felt super blessed to get to go to the end of the zour because although throughout he had struggled some with learning to sing SO MUCH AT A TIME without losing his voice (Zayn HIRE HELENE) and had to be conscious of that, on that final night he didn’t have to worry and just went for it and it was EVERYTHING, and! Most important of all! Even though at least for me I think night one was superior on night two the most important thing of all happened, something I will treasure forever even though I didn’t get it on video and didn’t even realize what I was experiencing until right after it happened: I, bander, was in the room when Zayn Malik said my favorite Zayn Malikism of all time right there in front of my salad, I experienced the beloved WHOOPSEH DAISEH with my own two ears!! So grateful, so zlessed, life is good! He also said vas happening but idk what to tell you, I’m a whooseh daiseh girlie forever I loved every minute of this tour, and can’t wait for the shows coming up, and also the circumstances were so shit and it doesn’t make Liam’s death any less tragic nor have I forgotten: but I am really glad that as a fandom we got something nice and fun and happy during this time, we really needed that. Was thinking last night though about how when we got the tickets for this Megan and I were like holy shit we never thought Zayn would tour, now we really will get to see 5/5 playing solo shows together, we’ll just need to go see Liam sometime after this…. it’ll be 4/5 forever now. But not the 4 you would have guessed a year ago, and I am truly happy for Zayn that he's been able to feel the joy of performing again, and in a lot of ways probably for the first time it's been like this.

Howdy! I wanted to start off by saying I'm a HUGE fan of the show - you guys have been a massive inspiration for me, and II as a whole has become one of my main comfort shows! (Paintbrush in particular is my favourite - never thought I could relate to a fictional paintbrush as much as I do, but they've honestly helped me realise things about myself, such as healthy ways to deal with anger, as well as a huge one - the fact that I'm nonbinary! 💙)

I was wondering - are there any plans for future BFDI/II meetup tours in other countries? I'd love to go to one, but I live in the UK and travel isn't the easiest unfortunately :( (one day though, I swear I'll be there!)

Also, are there any plans to release bloopers or more behind the scenes content, maybe after the season 2 finale? I know some cast members like Jazzy do, and it's super fun to watch the VAs goofing around and having fun!

Thanks for all that you guys do - it's amazing to look at how far the show has come, and it's plain to see how much every member of the team loves what they do. From the phenominal storytelling, to the charming art style - every detail is made with the utmost care and attention, and that becomes apparent with each episode you guys release :)

I'll stop rambling now, but I'm super hyped for the finale! Here's to our two finalists, and the much-deserved conclusion of season 2! 💙

Hihi Rei!

So glad the show could be of comfort and inspiration yay yay! If we continue to do the tours I'm not sure if we'll be expanding outside of the US just yet- but we'd definitely love to! Just wanna make sure we really get a firm grip on the multi-city trip here before complicating it. But whether it'd be this upcoming year or the next or whenever, I do think it has a decent chance of happening at some point! I'd imagine England and Canada would be our next stops, but we'll see in the future!

As for behind-the-scenes content, right now we're very focused on moving through work on the finale, itself, but we definitely have some bts concepts in mind! I recorded a video for my final II2 voice session, for one. After I'm done with finale work I'll look back at the footage and see if it feels useable. There's a lot of content to work with, but I probably wasn't on my A-game in terms of providing goofs 'n such for the camera because I needed to be really reeeeeally in-the-zone emotionally. Fuuuuun times.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 Thoughts (Spoilers!)

Who stayed up till 1:30 am trembling in her blanket and continued to do so the whole morning for the new Poppy Playtime Chapter? Me!

So here are my thoughts and a few theories before the freshness washes off

(also disclaimer, I didn't actually play the game because I am by no means a gamer and way too much of a scaredy-cat to actually play it, this is based on the play-throughs I watched)

Thoughts

Monsters/Bosses:

Big kitty. Seriously though I feel like he's kind of standard for a poppy mid-level boss.

Pianosaurus:

Now some say that he was wasted but honestly I don't think so? All things considered I don't think he was hyped up all that much: he had one distorted image in the ARG and one jingle with not much actual information on the bigger-body. So truthfully speaking, I think the twist of having him be so quickly and suddenly destroyed by Doey was really successful, I for sure did not see it coming at all.

Nightmare Critters:

Okay as someone who really grew to love the smiling critters, the nightmare critters' very concept confused me. Like I don't dislike it, I'm just confused, like what is the in-game reason for their existence? I really think they wanted to reuse the mini-smiling critters concept from chapter three, but since the smiling critters in Chapter 4 are children refugees in Safe Haven, to make a distinction they created the nightmare critters. Defintiely annoying little pests though, which means they're fulfilling their purpose quite well.

The Doctor:

I was wondering if they were gonna re-use the weeping angels mechanism from Miss Delight because when I watched the trailer I couldn't think of anything else, but turns out they're traffic light systems but reverse: yellow means the minion is going to move, and red means it is moving. The VA acting is absolutely on point, so all the applause to Baldwin, but game play wise I... honestly feel it's a little underwhelming? It's all very confusing and a lot of brute forcing, and truthfully speaking to have this villain that was built up for so long, second to the prototype get destroy fairly quickly, felt... too easy for such a horrendous character. I still don't understand with what intention is he and prototype collaborating. I also feel like the stuff in the ARG about Sawyer's backstory didn't really pay off?

Doey:

OH GODS I CRIED SO MUCH I COULD WRITE A WHOLE POST ABOUT DOEY ALONE. I knew he was gonna be a twist/final boss in someway just because of how he was marketed, but oh my God, I wasn't prepared for how tragic this was. I think it is the oldest sister/eldest daughter in me, seeing Doey try so damn hard to be a leader to wayward children, trying so hard to manage and protect everyone, that's something I understand and sympathise with. The oldest part of him was only 15 when the hour of joy happened! The tape of him talking to himself, giving himself a reminder to keep holding on and protecting kids, God that broke my heart. I was sobbing and muttering "it's okay... you did great... you can rest now... you can go see your mommy and daddy and friends now" when he died.

I think the two facts that make this even more tragic is that the other completely sympathetic character, Dog Day (still my favourite best boi), bad things was inflicted on him. Even Dog Day as a boss, that wasn't his choice, he didn't have one. Doey on the other hand, it was self-inflicted: I can't say him going beserk was a choice per se, emotions are complicated, but he was the responsible one. This pain was self-inflicted, and unlike Dog Day, could have been avoided.

Which brings me to my second point: for Doey (so I have to emphasise, this is in NO WAY a comment on actual DID systems, and boy do I have thoughts on that), in one of the VHS tape, the scientist remarked that one of the kids that made him up: Kevin Barnes, was erratic and aggressive, and could pose a danger if included in the experiment. He ended up being included because Sawyer demanded it and "The Doctor's word is law". This means if Kevin wasn't included in Doey, if it was just Jack and Matthew, then Doey wouldn't have that insane breakdown. He would be sad, he would feel guilty, yes, but all of those are the average human emotions experienced in a situation like this, and it wouldn't have been so destructive. HE COULD HAVE SURVIVED. In his insane monster form, we can literally see the three kids in the monster's mouth, two of them frowning and one of them angry, the two sad kids trying to hold the mad one back. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.

Anyways, I love the guy. I'll be drawing and mourning him. Sleep well buddy, you can rest now.

Plot and Lore:

Riley made me cry so much too. God, what a kid, trying to help, even a single soul till the very, very end. Sleep well kiddo. You did so well, and you're with your mom and dad now.

Also the way she described being turnd into a bigger-body, I wanted to throw up. Props to the writers for doing such a good job on that.

Oh the excited shout I let out when I saw the tape with Bigger Bodies Hoppy! So we know that there are more Bigger Bodies Smiling Critters that survived past the experiments and the hour of joy. But then I remembered that Dog Day said he was the last of the smiling critters and got sad, whoever Hoppy is, at this point in the story, she's gone :(

The omni-hand confuses me storywise: it's just a keycard equivalent?

Kissy Missy!!!! (that's it, I just love her)

I called three things: Poppy being Elliot's daughter, Ollie being the prototype, and Huggy still being alive. Granted a lot of people called it too, these are just the theories I believed in that turned out to be true

THERE ARE SO MANY DEAD BODIES AND EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM WAS A CHILD BEFORE I WANT TO SCREAM ABOUT THIS THIS IS AWFUL

The player is shaking in idle. That is some details. Also this person is gonna be triple traumatised.

I don't think Poppy is evil per se, but I think she is very selfish and self-centred, in the sense that she believes that she is the one with all the answers. I wonder how much did Elliot Ludwig spoil her. Also, bitch, she ditched us again.

Theories and Questions

In the Hoppy VHS, she mentioned she got jumped while trying to get supplies: jumped by what and who?

What the hell is the deal with Stella Greyber's change of heart in joining the executives on the bigger-bodies initiatives? Her change of heart is so sudden and so illogical?

It's one thing for Poppy to believe in Ollie. But Doey knowing and believing in Ollie too? How many people did he fool?

Also given that Ollie is the prototype, was his "HE'S OUTSIDE" that led to Doey going out and leaving safe haven a distraction?

I think the prototype is also an amalgamation, and one of the identities is Elliot Ludwig. It's final speech to Poppy, telling her to "come home" sound pretty in line with an evil father figure, and my sister pointed out if you removed the "T", "Elliot" is an anagram for "Ollie".

What is the prototypes agenda at this point? It's willing to collaborate with the doctor, the very person that started all this hellfire. It doesn't care about the children's lives seeing as he bombed Safe Haven, killing everyone inside. It's whole "burn it all down" idea actually echoes Poppy's agenda, but Poppy sounds genuinely shocked and scared to learn that Ollie is the prototype. What the hell is going on?

Who is Kissy? The bigger-body Kissy Missy that's been our companion for the past two chapters. Game Theory had their theory that it was Patty Hall, but I'm... starting to think it was Stella? We don't know Kissy's experiment number, and I don't think we have any info on Stella's status during the hour of joy, so it's not impossible. It's just... their... attitudes, for a lack of better words, seem to align.

Leith Pierre is out there somewhere, we know he survived since he's in project playtime, but where the hell is he now? He is a bigger player in this scheme than he lets one. I don't believe he's not gonna make an appearance in the future.

What the hell is Rich's deal? So turns out he's one of the more likeable higher-ups? And he's the head of shipping? What is up with his change in attitude from moody aggressive guy to the dad friend/supervisor?

There's this one mystery from Chapter two that still hasn't been solved: there were slides with plates of each department's head's name and one was missing: we still don't know who that could be.

I truly think at the very least for this storyline, the next chapter is the last. The doctor was the second greatest villain and now he's dead. Additionally, we came into direct contact with the prototype, so from a storytelling perspective, the next chapter has to be the last stand. I don't believe this will be the end of the poppy playtime universe though.

Conclusion/Overall Comment on the Chapter:

I liked the chapter, but I think the problem is that unlike the previous chapters that felt like a constant overall upgrade, this one didn't feel like an improvement (but nor it did feel like a downgrade though). There are aspects of the chapter that definitely improved from that last: the graphics, the gameplay mechanics, the gore making people immediately physically uneasy, and characterisation of both major and minor characters, making us immediately love or hate them in a very short time. But the pacing really felt less enjoyable compared to the last chapter, same with the boss battles. It felt like it dragged too much then rushed too much. The pros and cons kinda cancel each other out, leadings to a net zero.

My favourite is still Chapter three, but I'll give this one a 7.5/10.

I have so many thoughts

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN MARIA'S WOUND AND THE DESTROYED MOON?!!! OH MY GOD!!!! OH MY. MY GOD. That's the entire reason I started writing my thoughts down because that's way past important. Where's that post about the symbolism and correlation between Maria's name and the moon because that's all I can think about

AND I LOVE how they're choosing to portray Maria recently, excited and eager for everything, even though it hurts her. Also how fascinated she is with earth makes me happy. I love the idea she'll just endlessly ramble to Shadow about Earth. Also her VA does a good job at letting you know how out of breath she is and how she's still all upbeat even tho she's literally about to pass out

Also ?!!! I AM GOING A BIT CRAZY AT SHADOWS PORTRAYAL!! I'm so hyped to see how he's interpreted in Generations. He seems so confused, and like each time period he's in impacts his personality heavily, like he's still with them on the ARK. He wants to save everyone even though he knows he can't and I'm SCRATCHING AT THE WALLS because of it. I think the way that they'll try to portray him going into the past is with him being only half-aware of everything, OR, HE'S TRYING TO LIVE A LIE TO MAKE HIMSELF FEEL BETTER. Ohmygod the second one makes me feel ill because he just wants to be happy, he wants to keep his little family together and safe, but he knows that the fate is inevitable, just wondering if he could've stopped it. It's haunting to him. The feeling of not being in control is present throughout the entire episode, where he's constantly dragged through each event, each one being more exhausting than the last. Everything is happening to him, he's not the driving force, and that's the sad part, he had an entire game about defining his identity, and still, he's always been a puppet to someone else, bent to their will.

I'M SO CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE PLANNING WITH GERALD BECAUSE ITS DEFINITELY SOMETHING. SHADOW WHAT DID HE DO TO YOU??? Shadow had to PHYSICALLY CLASP HIS HEAD BECAUSE OF THIS. I NEED TO KNOW.

Dude is this supposed to be Shadow's second traumatic flashback regarding the ARK, since in the hero story of SHTH, there's an entire level about the ARK where he plays with Maria as his sidekick, and it was triggered by hearing the sirens of the ARK (which I LOVE btw. Of COURSE he'd associate the noise with events since it's been drilled into his psyche before the amnesia)

I LOVE how scared he is at the end. He's sooooo panicked. I love how they give him the sparks when he's overwhelmed, it makes me feel so happy.

Who is HE?! It can't be Shadow before his memory loss, that guy did NOT SURVIVE. Also idk if they're going to return to the "pre and post amnesia Shadow are different people" thing they implied, because I think it'd be best to have it be like his memories are fragmented, and it's all about remembering, and THEN WE GET A NEW INTERPRETATION OF SHADOW?? Pls? Like not new but somewhere in between SA2 and after that, but with more little brother energy because MARIA IS HERE!!!!

GUYS WHAT ARE THOSE FLOWERS AT THE END AND WHAT DO THEY MEAN. PLEASE TELL ME SINCE THEY PROBABLY HAVE SYMBOLISM

We're only two episodes into season 2B of Helluva Boss and it's already on track to be so much better than the first half of the season was.

I love Helluva Boss as a whole, but to say its quality is inconsistent would be an understatement. Season 2A could not keep a consistent tone to save its life. The best episodes of 2A were the ones about Fizz, not the ones related to the main characters of the show. The less I say about the Millie focused episode, the better (no I don't remember the episode's name and I don't care, it can go fuck off).

I was dreading Full Moon as much as I was hyped for it. It very easily could've been completely mishandled for how hyped up it was, and I think we all knew that. They knocked it out of the park though, it felt like a return to form episode. The ending stinger was also absolutely incredible. That argument was long overdue and it played out pretty much how I expected it to. The VAs give it their all and the characters are written so so well.

Apology Tour might be the best episode of the whole show honestly. I love when a show is willing to take its time and let emotions sink in, and this entire episode is that. Stolas is my favorite character in the show but I love how flawed both he and Blitzø are, it makes them so interesting. This episode is all about Blitzø recognizing his flaws and how his actions affect people, but Stolas isn't off the hook. He still does bad things and the show doesn't pretend he's some innocent sad boy or something.

We've got some genuinely great tension and drama going here, along with FINALLY bringing antagonists from season 1 back into the plot, instead of just dicking around like 2A liked to do. I should say again 2A is mostly really good! Its funny, and the characters are likeable, fun to watch. It's just tonally inconsistent and doesn't know how to mesh drama with comedy very well.

So uh yeah I hope the rest of season 2 follows how these two episodes have gone. I know Ghostfuckers is going to be a more lighthearted silly episode, but I'm fully on board with that as long as what happened in these episodes isn't just forgotten about.

Thoughts on the trailer + some information regarding it also opinions

So the trailer drop out and they were mixed reaction on it. I also had a mixed reaction but either way I was happy that Monkie Kid was not dropped and is still going. So I'll settle myself with information that I have first before my opinions.

Ahem, recently the new trailer had dropped out on the new season on Lego Monkie Kid. The reaction were...negative after all the people in charge of the other season animation were Flying Bark Studios. Flying Bark studio is known for their flood and chaotic spunky animation that really hypes up people and makes them go wild, they worked on shows like Rise of the mutant ninja turtles and moon girl, as well as our favorite show Lego Monkie Kid. As some of you don't know lately Flying Bark Studios has partner up with Avatar Studios making them have more projects on their hands.

The same writers and Va are still there, they have not been replaced they are still working on Lego Monkie Kid.

Next thing to note, Yes it is true. Wild Brain are working on Lego Monkie Kid BUT! we should not go and harassed the animators on any of the staff working on Lego Monkie Kid, I know it's a new change and I know some aren't ready but with how Flying Barks animation is handle. Please continue on supporting the production I understand some of the reactions you guys have but you also must be patient. The new season has been confirmed to come this summer everything else...well it depends on you guys.

I've seen the trailer and there is a character that has not shown up in the trailer one character that is very important in the show. Nuwa, either she is a secret character that will show up in the season or will be a cliffhanger character for a new upcoming season, this has not been confirmed and is only speculations of mine.

I have a lot of criticism against some fans who are mad at Macaque scenes wanting him to be like season 1 ever even though it's a trailer not the goddamn season. Why are you all mad over his character WHEN WE HAVEN'T SEEN EVEN THE WHOLE SEASON?!? I don't understand you people. I have more to say but I want to know something.

Would you guys rather have something? Or nothing?

This is just a trailer, there's nothing on how the actual show will be and even if it is like that we can safely and calmly criticize it. Do show supports towards those who are working on it, and I'm not saying you guys can't criticize it, go ahead do it but please stay calm about it and be nice in the comment section.

Do know it's very difficult trying to emulate the style of animation Flying Barks has.

Aight so. The real world reason for why Ambrosius dyes his hair blond is because his original comic version had iconic long blond hair — it was one of his identifying features — and nixing that entirely would make him an unrecognizable adaptation. The in-universe reason though? Peak untapped angst and fridge horror — that one poster we see with nine year old Ambrosius already has his hair bleached and it tells you without telling you this guy probably had his autonomy stripped from a very young age, just so he could look closer to someone he’s so separated from by time they probably only have >2% DNA in common. The thought of him dying it a different color because it’s his choice? A nice bit of reclamation, don’t ya think? Nimona and Ballister would absolutely hype him up, too, and I can see this being something that turns the tides in Nimona and Ambrosius’s relationship — going from awkward tolerance for Bal’s sake to empathy and shared celebration to realizing how much they have in common overall

I like the idea of him specifically going lavender/light purple, because

It’s a nice little callback/subversion of something in the comic (iykyk)

Todd specifically says Ambrosius smells like lavender, so if he likes the smell enough to use it in his hair, why not take it a step farther and use the color in his hair too

His VA, Eugene Lee Yang, has used purple as an identifying color

Hellooooooo world. Throat is feeling funky today but I shall persevere. I started season 4 the other day! I'm going into episode 5 I think? I'll watch more later. Might make cocoa for my throat. Anywho. THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODES I'VE WATCHED SO FAR.

Alright, first of all, I don't really hate or love the new animation style of this season. I miss the old one, yes, but this one isn't the worst thing to ever exist or anything. Except for what they did to my beautiful boy, Asahi. I miss the gorgeous man bun angel baby. He's still there but he's also not, you know what I mean?

The whole height measuring thing is such a small scene but it's just so funny. We love to see Yamaguchi hyping up Tsukishima about his height. And Tsukki looks so proud of it, too. They are very close to the top of my Favorite Haikyuu Friendships list. AND ALSO.

THIS FUCKING SCENE. Obviously I've seen it before but I just. UGHHHH I LOVE THEM SO SO MUCH. You see more of the younger Kei when he was softer and less salty when he's just with Tadashi. It says so much about their friendship and Kei's comfort with Tadashi. His content little smile just melts my entire heart. Crying screaming throwing up over them. My notes literally say "Cradling them gently in my hands because GOD I love these two." and that's so real of me

So, I knew about Hinata crashing the first year camp at Shiratorizawa prior to watching season 4. I'd heard about the second hand embarrassment. I DID NOT KNOW IT WOULD BE THIS BAD HOLY FUCK. Tsukki's got a mantra of "you don't know him" going on loop in his head and I'd be right there with him because OH MY GOD. HINATA, HONEY. PLEASE. YOU'RE KILLING ME HERE. And here's the thing, I get that he's unhappy about not getting invited to either training camp. I imagine that it's a big blow to his confidence to have two of his peers get these great opportunities based on how skilled they are and not be invited himself. He's worked just as hard as they have. And Kageyama's comment of "see you at the top" when Hinata was clearly upset surely didn't help (something about it felt especially mean to me. Like, somehow the meanest thing he's said to Hinata even though it's not). BUT COME ON BABE YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE LOSS HERE. BALL BOY ARC YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE ME OUT. And so many of the things he does at the camp just make me curl in on myself. I would not be caught dead acting like that (but to be fair, he's like 15 and I'm in my 20s so I'd hope I was more mature than him). He also made me a little sad several times. Like, Hina baby you are breaking my heart but you did this to yourself holy shit.

Side note: I don't know the name of the guy but one of them has the same English VA as Reki from Sk8 the Infinity and I heard him talk and it took me the fuck out. Hello sweetie. Glad to hear you here.

Hinata getting scolded back to back to back TOOK ME OUT. Could not be me. I'd be crying. And to be fair, it seems like he was about to when he was talking to Tanaka. But Nishinoya appeared and made him feel better and I was so gratefully. I don't like seeing my kids cry.

They haven't shown as much about Kageyama and the National Youth Intensive yet, but I enjoy that a lot more. Far fewer second hand embarrassment moments over on Kageyama's side. Him setting too high because he's used to setting for Hinata was both embarrassing but also oddly endearing? He adjusted, of course (he's an excellent player and can adjust when he needs to), but he's so used to setting for Hinata that his muscle memory automatically wants to set the way he would for Hinata. Not sure how to explain it but yeah. I'm enjoying all of the new characters very much, also. Idk the little white haired bird-looking boy's name yet but I like him. I'm in awe of your skills if that makes you feel any better, sweetie. AND I SEE ATSUMU!!!! Fuck you Miya Atsumu <3

... So I don't know about you but I don't personally look at my platonic friends like this. NO I'M SERIOUS. WHAT IN THE HOMOSEXUALS IS HAPPENING HERE. I WAS SO DISTRACTED BY HOW TENDŌ IS LOOKING AT USHIJIMA IN THIS SCENE THAT I DON'T EVEN FUCKING REMEMBER WHAT USHIJIMA WAS ACTUALLY SAYING. I know we're focusing mostly on Hinata at this point in the season but I miss the rest of the team. I like that we occasionally jump back to see what they're doing (as film structure would call it: "meanwhile, back at the ranch"), though. Nishinoya knocking Tanaka over with his chaotic receives? Beautiful. You love to see it. No one being able to serve during that practice match? My dearest darlingest crows, what the hell happened there? Are you kids okay? But I'm sure once the camps are over, we'll be back with the team and I'll get to see all of my boys.

Tsukishima: “You wanna practice with me?” Me: TSUKKIIIIIIIIIII ❤️✨❤️❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨✨✨ I just love Tsukishima tbh. The fact that he's actually willing to practice with Hinata because he knows he can learn from it is soooooo much growth on his part. I'm very proud of him. So I'm going to take this time to talk about Hyakuzawa AKA 2 meter guy. He was absolutely shattering my heart. Like, STOP BEING MEAN TO HIM YOU GUYS HE'S TRYING HIS BEST 💔 That being said, HINATA IS SUCH AN UPLIFTING AND ENCOURAGING BABY I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I was so happy to see him stand there and encourage Hyakuzawa and actively help him out. Hinata really just goes and makes friends everywhere he goes and that makes me so happy. When Hyakuzawa actually got the ball up and it cut back to Hinata talking about it giving him time to rest and reset himself when he gets overwhelmed OH it got me. I was squealing about it at 2 AM. And then they high fived and I got really happy that Hinata made another friend. I love seeing him make friends. He's just human sunshine and we love to see it.

I'm starting classes tomorrow but I'll still be watching and posting about it every now and then. I should watch the dumpster battle movie again now that I have all the context. Anyway. Hope I feel better soon

hi :] how did you specifically go about promoting and getting idwbamg big?

it wasn’t something i was necessarily trying at since it was a “just for fun project” and i have the benefit of an existing following that i’d built up over the past decade

though i suppose years of religiously bending to algorithms made it so i subconsciously do it 😭 i just posted regularly about the characters, leading with the bios so people have a place to learn about them, then doing comics to showcase their personalities more to build up interest. having a backlog of stuff so i can post at peak hours, answering lots of asks and engaging with people who are already interested, showing my progress on the pilot, VA announcements and posting during black history month

momentum helped. because i only did an animatic, it was easy to get people hyped and keep their interest since the time from when i made the characters to when the full pilot came out was only 6 months. having to keep hype up for years when making a fully animated pilot is REALLY hard and i admire those who do it

Movies:

Ice Age 1, 2, 3, and 4 - Yeah I dunno I just put on the first movie for something to watch while I folded laundry and it put me in the mood for the whole series XD Couldn't find the fifth movie though.

Coraline - Holy flip it's been years but this movie is still COMPLETE AND UTTER PERFECTION!!😍😍😍 (literally just put it on after watching Ice Age 4 for the opening and ended up watching the entire movie because it's just so good)

The Lorax - Lmao omg can't believe I watched this in 2025. Wanted something I could watch without actually caring about watching while I corrected my students' work XD

Freaky Friday - My mom wanted this one, and yeah of course it's still fun. Also I think this was also one I watched right after another movie pffffft.

When Harry Met Sally - I both like and dislike a lot of things about this movie (mostly all the sex talk of course) but man I could listen to the characters talk all day.

G.I. Jane - I like underdog stories and I was pretty into this one... until the end when they shoot up a bunch of Libyan 'terrorists' on their own land🤢 Ugh.

A Walk to Remember - Again mostly just watched this for something to entertain me while I folded laundry, even though it wasn't so long ago that I watched it. Still nice.

Anime: Literally nothing but Anne Shirley I think. I actually am just never in the mood to watch anime anymore😢 Maybe it's just a slow season, but I haven't even caught up with Apothecary Diaries.

Books:

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher - Borrowed this purely because I enjoyed a book by the same author before. It was a solid three stars.

The Wild Robot Protects by Peter Brown

Games: Slay the Princess - Oh man I'm SO happy this game lived up to its hype! Okay I wouldn't call it one of my top five favorite games or anything but I love how engaging it is for a choice-based visual novel! Also the VA's are so talented to be doing that many personalities and voices!

Why do I get so attached to minor/side antagonists in tlok, especially Aiwei and Baatar Jr?

Like Aiwei is, from what I know, the first confirmed gay man in the franchise (we all hype Kya up where is Aiwei's gay clout huh), a member of an anarchist syndicate, and spent years undercover. And he has a slay nosering!

Tbh Aiwei gives some autism vibes with how he constantly calls people out for lying and is very blunt with his opinions and feelings, like when he told some random noodle seller that he was a liar bcs the guy claimed to be selling "the best noodles" or when Mako was trying to be polite and Aiwei called him out for lying too.)

But he's also so mysterious. Like he's been in the Red Lotus for years presumably, unless Zaheer could reqruit from a jail cell, and also has been infiltrating Zaofu for years, long enough for Su to consider him family. But like man I need details.

And he seems.... genuinely nice? To some degree. Like he helped Lin out when she was sick from stress and shit, even though it would probably be beneficial to him to have an enemy in a weakened state, and I think he genuinely cared for the Beifongs, at least to some degree.

I need to know more about him, his relationship to the Beifongs, his reasons for being in the Red Lotus.

And Baatar Jr is also so interesting but people only bring him up when they're trying to make Kuvira look better by being like: "oh Baatar did this shit too." Like yeah bitch but he's also a surprisingly interesting character on his own. Like if you're gonna talk about his warcrimes let's talk about his wonderfully crafted inferiority complex.

Like he's if Bumi had an engineering degree and also was evil. He's the firstborn child of TOPH FUCKING BEIFONG the greatest earthbender who ever lived. His other brothers are metalbenders, and especially the twins are clearly carrying on the family legacy. His only fellow nonbender is Opal who is then ripped away by RANDOMLY SPAWNING AIRBENDING. And he's lived in his father's shadow, literally carrying his name and simply engineering his father's projects instead of inventing anything ot his own?

And his love and dedication to Kuvira is genuinely devastating. Like how he prioritised her over everything, his family, the Earth Empire... and the bravery? He stared down at Korra who was in the Avatar state and holding him up with one arm and he laughed. HE LAUGHED IN HER FACE AND HER OTHERWORLDLY GLOWING EYES THE AUDACITY. Thw only think he feared was being seperated from Kuvira agh

He looks so unimpressed wtf [its bcs he's dating Kuvira right they provably do way scarier shit in the bedoom huh]

And the fact that he invented the avatarverse version of nuclear warfare FOR THE LOVE OF A WOMAN. A woman who then tried to kill him with it omg the drama! And also his VA did give a really good performance especially in the moments when he wames up after Kuvira's betrayal (even though he does kinda sound like Nazeem from Skyrim).

I also admire his "Wing and Wei will never forgive me. And Opal." Vs. Kuvira's "I said sorry why are you guys still mad at me". We love a king who takes responsibility for his war crimes and betrayal. Like yeah he still got of wayyy to easy but he's at least clearly not expecting forgiveness. And I do kinda love him just completely swerving Kuvira in the comic she does kinda deserve it lol.

Have you seen the new Lunalight cards out of Duelist Advance? I'm super hyped for them! They even had a whole bit in the OCG live stream where Serena's VA made the hosts guess what animals they were going to be via an animal trivia quiz.
