“Make them clean their own guns,” Nguyen said, leaning her considerable bulk over Q’s desk. She was just starting her shift. “Or at least wear gloves.”
Q kept plunging a bore brush soaked with cleaning fluid into the barrel of 007’s Walther PPK. His eyes burned with fatigue. “I’ll take it under advisement.”
When he finished, he left with gun oil on his fingers, fingers that had traced over the gun’s every crevice, every curve and angle, every metal and electric anatomical fold.
“Why not tell us to clean our own guns?” 006 asked.
“I'm a control freak,” Q said. “Which is also why I know that yours is in the middle of the Atlantic and not in need of cleaning at all.”
This was a lie. 006 had reported the gun lost at sea but had actually smuggled it back into his own flat, where it was currently residing in what Q suspected was his bedroom and knew for certain was the room that also had a backup earwig that Q had personally assembled, a Ka-Bar that Q had archaically sharpened on a whetstone, and one of the decoy keychains and keys (Alaska) that Q kept on his desk so that agents had something harmless to swipe. Probably there were other things that 006 also had in his nest, but they would be things that Q hadn’t touched and could only theorize about.
Q was bad at lying.
006 visibly recognized this, realized that Q was lying in his favor, and couldn’t stop his eyes from widening. “Right,” he said.
Q smiled. Fixed him with a specific knowing look. You don’t ask, I don’t ask. “If it hadn’t sunk into the fathoms below, I would recommend a new hammer spring. Sometimes these things get a bit fussy when you use a gun as a bludgeon. That’s part of why I do in-person maintenance.”
Part of the reason; not the whole reason.
006 muttered a Russian curse. “Thank you, Q.”
“Happy to help.”
---
001 brought his guns back clean, but with a new part in them each time; a replacement firing pin, hammer, ejector rod, bullets.
Q always asked about the replacement. He did it before disassembling the gun, like a magic trick.
001 always grinned like a mischievous schoolboy. “I’ll get you next time,” he would say, wagging a finger at him. Perhaps you’re more fallible than you believe.
“It’s good that you’re optimistic,” Q would reply loftily. No mistakes. I see your gun. I see your tricks. I see you.
004 never cleaned her gun and always brought it back. Hers was a semi-automatic of Theseus, parts replaced naturally when there was wear and tear.
“Same as always?” she asked when she picked up her kit.
“Same as always,” Q confirmed.
When Q was a child, he asked, “Mum, why do you always shout about your car keys in the morning? And why does Peter never know where his pencils are?”
She frowned into the mirror and finished applying her lipstick. “Sometimes people lose things, dear.”
“How?” Q asked, boggled.
She looked at him with squinched eyes; that meant she was thinking hard. “Well,” she said slowly, “we forget where we put them, or someone puts them somewhere we don’t expect.”
Q squinched his own eyes too. What could she be thinking so hard about?
Mum smiled. “Tell you what, we’ll see if I can give you a demonstration after school, all right?”
Mum didn’t turn on the telly right away after dinner like she usually did. Instead, she sat down next to him on the sofa. “Sweetheart, you know how you asked about when I lose my keys? Does that ever happen to you?” She was trying to be casual about it, but if it were really unimportant then she would have asked during a commercial.
“One time I pretended it did,” he told her, “because I was curious to see what it was like. So one day while you were doing the shopping I put one of my books on top of the telly and stomped around in the other room going ‘Where the hell is my story book?’ in a loud voice like you do with your keys. It was a little fun, but not much.”
“It’s not fun to lose things. Do you know,” she asked, “where your story book is now?”
“Yes, of course,” he said. His story book was immense and well-thumbed, so heavy that it made him grunt whenever he had to lift it, but he had already read through all of it at least four times. It had hard edges and corners that were beginning to bend; chocolate fingerprints littered the pages at the beginning because his hands had still been sticky from birthday cake when he first opened it—he can put his fingers on them now and see how much he’s grown. There’s a stain of pomegranate juice at the beginning of the Persephone story from the pomegranate that his mother had bought before they read it together; a special treat, expensive, but “you have to know what a pomegranate is before you read it,” she’d said, “otherwise you’ll wonder why they’re eating the seeds.”
“And where is it?” his mum asked. She had to know that Q knew, because why wouldn’t he know?
He answered anyway. She ‘humored’ Q a lot, she sometimes told him, so he could humor her this time. “In the vegetable drawer,” he said. “You came home for lunch and moved it there. But that’s a silly place for things that aren’t vegetables, isn’t it?”
His mum closed her eyes and sighed, long and deep the way she did every so often when Q asked too many questions that she couldn’t answer. “You’re right,” she said after a moment. “I’m lucky to have a son who knows that. But most people can’t keep track of their things as well as you can, so let’s not talk about it too much and make them envious, all right?”
That was something he knew how to do. He had already had a few talks about not stirring the other kids up with how smart he was. Plus he could tell from the tightness in her voice, like when she talked to her boss’s boss or Q’s headmaster, that she was nervous. “Sure, Mum,” he said. “I won’t.”
So he never mentioned it again.
He also never lost his keys, or his rucksack, or his socks, or anything else he touched and touched often. He might as well try to lose his own foot.
“You know, we can clean our own guns,” 002 said, dropping her pistol onto Q’s desk. “In fact, you’ll find I did.”
Q smiled. “That will make it much quicker when I do it, then.”
002 pursed her lips and blew a pink bubble with her gum, which Q Branch had also issued her. “And where do you want this?” She took the sticky wad out of her mouth and held it out to him. “Gonna chew it for me?”
Q held out a petri dish. “We have better chemical analyzers than my tongue, I’m happy to say. We do want to see about the wear and tear on the product.” He met her eyes. “Reliability is important in our field.”
002’s performatively petulant glare softened. “Maybe I’ll get lucky and next time you’ll make it into plastique instead of a tracker.” One corner of her mouth quirked up.
The sticks of gum were actually one of Q’s least favorite gadgets; like most gum, it was sensitive to heat, so he couldn’t hold it for long without destroying its structural integrity. Couldn’t sense what he usually sensed. But if it put a smile on 002’s face as well as being useful to her, he’d keep issuing it.
“A gun and a radio,” Q said. He waved his hand at the corner of his desk where he’d perched the usual equipment case. “Earwig will be distributed at your landing site. Unless things go terribly wrong, the local team should be able to support you for this one.”
Bond took the case. “Anything else?”
Q looked up; he’d been double-checking Bond’s mission brief and wondering how much structural damage the Managua team could make excuses for. “Cufflinks.” He pulled a small box out of his desk drawer and opened it. Inside lay a pair of cufflinks, copies of ones that Bond already owned and wore frequently. “They have little folding knives in them.” He demonstrated how the outside half could be pulled apart to reach the blade in the middle.
The corners of Bond’s eyes were all happy wrinkles. “Am I expected to need tiny knives?”
“No,” Q admitted. “But you brought the Walther back last time and I thought you could use some positive reinforcement. May I?” He removed the old cufflinks and put the new ones on, his fingertips brushing against the warm skin of 007’s wrists as he did. “Good luck in the field, 007,” he said after he closed the last French cuff. “As always, try to bring the equipment back in one piece.”
“As always,” Bond echoed, his eyes meeting Q’s before he left.
The cufflinks weren’t just positive reinforcement, of course. They were a connection; this meant that it was even odds that Bond would destroy them. (Paradoxically, Bond had the best equipment survival rate when that equipment self-destructed; he wore the latest exploding watch for three months and four missions before he had to use it.)
Q didn’t touch the other 00s, who stayed near their equipment, more or less, and who deserved their privacy, deserved not to have their footsteps tracked through the crevices of Q’s brain. In fact, he didn't touch anyone. Not if he could help it.
With Bond, Q made excuses for the tiniest bit of extra assurance, the mental tip-toe of 00 feet sneaking across the globe.
“Make Hutchinson do it,” Nguyen said, back again. “He loves guns; he’d be thrilled to do maintenance on company time.”
Q met her eyes. “I take personal responsibility for the equipment of our most senior agents. They deserve that level of consistency.” He changed out the cleaning swatch he was using.
“How consistent will you be if you burn out because you never leave this place? Guns, radios, earpieces--you can delegate. Our work is important, but...”
“I’m almost done,” Q said, implacable.
Nguyen sighed. “Sleep well, Quartermaster.” She showed herself out.
Q dried, oiled, and reassembled the gun. He would make sure to catch up with Doctor Who and a few blockbusters so he could convince Nguyen that he sometimes made an effort to think about things that weren’t work or work-related. They could collaborate on blueprints for a sonic screwdriver. It would be fine.
He would even give the same advice if he were in her position. She couldn’t know that Hutchinson doing as simple a thing as cleaning a Double-Oh’s gun until it shone would be detrimental to the delicate safety net that Q had been building since he had arrived at Six.
Q touched everything his agents went out with, enough that he could still sense 007's old Walther in Macau, 001's discarded ejector rod in Tunis, 004's stack of worn-out gun parts secreted in a tea tin hidden behind a book on his shelf because he liked the thrum of them all together like that, and there was always the risk, at work, that they'd be disposed of.
He never lost things that were truly his. Guns, radios, earwigs, cufflinks.
He hadn’t lost an agent yet either.

Hello, is there any news about the expected shipping date? I really can't wait to get the zine :)
(I totally get that things take time though, I was just curious if you know anything new)
Another Anon:
With all the obstacles that have popped up (tariffs, shipping issues, and whatnot) do you guys have a timeline for when people should start expecting their personal merch bundles and products to be shipped? No rush or pressure just wondering if there’s any updates for final shipment dates
Hi anons!
Unfortunately we're aiming for a shipping date by August. We underestimated the amount of time it would take to order and produce the merch, along with how long the bulk of the merch will take as it will be shipped by boat.
Below the cut you can see what merch we've ordered, received, and is currently in production:
Received
Buttons
Stickers
Prints
Bookmarks
In Production (will take 20-40 business days to ship)
Enamel Pins
Acrylics (keychain, standee, shakers, etc)
Lanyard
Air Freshener
About To Order (14 business days in production, 20-40 business days to ship)
Zine
Foiled Prints
The delay for zines is fully my fault, I (Matt) thought I could format it and bit off more than I could chew. I'd like to welcome @diooni as our new formatting mod who did some amazing work and is currently getting it ready for print.

do you have any tuts on how u made those cute little lps keychains?? I only skimmed your page so sorry if u have somthing this posted!!
heyy! sorry i don't have a tutorial since it was just a personal project but i can show u the process :D
i started w a wire and tin foil armature to bulk up the shape and to embed the hook
Tumblr media
then i started aplying the acrylic in passes just taking it slowly, at this point i also sketched the facial features
in retrospect an epoxy or polymer clay would be much easier to work with but i already had acrylic in hand and since it's pretty durable i just used that :p
Tumblr media
it's just a really tedious process of adding and filing down the acrylic and its best to take it slow u_\\ i gotta say having an E file helps to reach tight spaces and add detail so i recomend getting one
Tumblr media
finally i painted the keychain w nail polish lol since it sticks quite well to plastic and used a uv gel topcoat to seal it but maybe it would be better to use a uv resin idk
Tumblr media
thats basically what i did! i didn't take that many process pics but i hope it helped! ^_^

Tumblr media Tumblr media
i made this mulcahy keychain a while back that i was considering selling but upon researching how much it costs to ship 1 tiny thing from Australia to anywhere overseas i realised the price for them would have to be over $40 aud and that is way too much. so im sharing the files for free instead!!
I personally used wooacry to get my keychain bc they don’t require bulk orders so i recommend them :)

THEY HAVE ARRIVED AND I AM SOOOO HAPPY YIPPEE A YAHOOO!!!
my phone is NOT doing the colors justice at all. I promise they are much better in person. I sadly do not have Proper Influencer Lighting or Display space, so the wall by a ceiling fan will have to do!
I'm sooo happy with these and how they came out!! I will 100% getting more in the future, including keychains and stuff heehoo SOME RAMBLES ABOUT THEM BELOW/MY EXPERIENCE ORDERING THEM:
I am not a sponsored influencer but I'll speak my best!!
Where did I get these done?: Wooacry! I saw some other artists recommending this website due to affordable prices and the fact that you do not have to order in bulk! This website does a LOT of different things from stickers to photocards to a million different standees to metal coins etc etc! The website is also Anti-AI image and Text so that is a bonus
I will say the process of getting these done was surprisingly easy. The website has a very clear and easy to understand upload system. I am very bad at understanding formatting to these things but it was shockingly easy. They also have many tutorials on how to upload/how to format so there was plenty of steps shown It was really nice! They also use RGB coloring instead of CMYK, in case anyone was wondering! I hate fighting with cmyk coloring filters so that was nice for me lmao I paid $24.93 USD for these (including shipping) They were around 8 dollars each on their own. They had 3 shipping options: standard fast (<- this is the one I chose, which was around 8 dollars) fastest
The standee's ARE see through, not entirely but it is a thing To be fair... its.. clear plastic. I would anticipate that no matter what I was advised by a friend to use a basic background/single color instead of doing anything major on the back. So I did! Honestly I don't personally mind it that much? I do not care about the back of a standee they are facing towards me anyways. but also the website does put a disclaimer about them being see through in certain light. So there is that! In some light it is more noticeable than in others, depends on how bright and direct the light is! But again.. this isn't a issue for me as they are going to be facing me on my desk by a wall
The base for the standee I did NOT make myself, they had a LOT of cool premade ones for you to choose from! And also the option to make your own... I chose the premade one just to be easy.
They came packaged very well and safe. Proper bubble wrap was in place and each piece of the standee had front and back plastic protectors (the ones that you peel off) So they arrived very safe and in perfect condition for me!
As for how long they took to get to me?: 21 Days* I can't honestly complain about the shipping/how long they took. I had unfortunately ordered during a special Chinese New Year week, where they did state things would be delayed due to the holiday. As well as there was a snow storm in my area so they took longer due to that as well So I can't actually complain about shipping or anything? I would have to place another order to see "Normal" shipping/production time.
OVERALL... They were surprisingly cheap The plastic is nice n thick The website was easy to use They came neatly and safely packaged With this order I had zero problems! Which is great 4 me! I will 100% be ordering more when I get the chance! I am so over the moon to have like... physical "merch" of my own OCs. Almost cried because I am a big baby.
If I ever order more stuff I will... I WILL be posting them lmao

Version 4.0:
Birthday: November 20 Blood Type: B Age: 25 years old Profession: Intern doctor Height: 180cm Weight: 60kg Favorite Food: Jelly drink (Energy drink flavor) Interests: Using bizarre jokes to confuse others Features: Shooting games
Story
Character Details The intern doctor wearing a labcoat at the arcade is very good at shooting games. He looks hard to faze, and is very confident in his medical skills.
Personal Data 1 Kitazato is a strange man I met in the Shibuya arcade. He wore a doctor's labcoat, and destroyed his opponents in shooting games. I tried to learn his style, but didn't expect him to target me and insist on playing a round against me. However, the supervising physician he works as an intern under suddenly appeared, and they had a dispute. Although temporarily interrupted, Kitazato is very persistent about playing against me...
Personal Data 2 Kitazato has caught the attention of some women, but he doesn't seem to realize it at all... We played the shooting game, and his temperament changed drastically when he became immersed in it. In all senses, he's a terrifying opponent... After two games, he asked me to assist him in his experiment. What is the experiment going to be?
Personal Data 3 Kitazato wanted to conduct a conversation experiment on me, but it turned out that he's noticed that many patients' desire to live is gradually disappearing. In order to confirm this theory, he's been observing the reaction of his opponents while playing shooting games. The way I fought desperately against him in the game made him interested in researching me...
Personal Data 4 I learned useful shooting tips from Kitazato. After a fierce game match, the two women who previously showed interest in Kitazato came over to us to strike up a conversation. Unexpectedly, he completely dismissed them... Although he has a very caring sister, Kitazato doesn't seem to have learned how to communicate with women....
Personal Data 5 Two men were monopolizing the arcade, and Kitazato and I were the only ones to step forward to stop them. Kitazato proposed that we divide into two groups and use the shooting game to determine the winner. The match was a bit difficult, but we still won. Our victory seemed to inspire the other guests, who found the courage to call out the two rude men, and kicked them out of the arcade.
Personal Data 6 Kitazato suddenly decided to interrupt his experiment. He believed that there's a problem with his previous experimental method, and that he couldn't draw any valid conclusions from me. He was a little troubled by all this. After I asked, I learned that a patient refused to accept Kitazato's experimental surgical plan even though it was his only hope. Kitazato couldn't sit back and watch the patient give up his will to live. I mentioned that we encouraged the guests in the arcade, so Kitazato's patient may also be able to regain hope.
Personal Data 7 Kitazato mentioned his past to the patient. It turns out that he'd seen a child in the same ward as him trying hard to survive, but unfortunately he died. In order to save promising lives and reduce grief, Kitazato became a doctor. Kitazato's words finally got through to the patient, but his supervising physician was unwilling to take the risk, and firmly rejected Kitazato. So, I went into Mementos, defeated the supervising physician's Shadow, and made him have a change of heart.
Personal Data 8 Not only was his surgical plan approved, Kitazato was also given the opportunity to be the surgeon, which surprised him. But regardless of anything, things are moving in a good direction. Kitazato trusts me more, and gave me a very realistic human eyeball replica...
Personal Data 9 As the date of the surgery approaches, Kitazato was becoming more and more anxious, and even began to question himself under all the pressure. I reassured him, and he regained his composure. He decided not to let down his patient, who trusts him.
Personal Data 10 The operation was very successful. The patient expressed his gratitude to Kitazato. The supervising physician also recognized Kitazato's ability, and apologized to both of us. Although Kitazato questioned the supervising physician's sudden change in attitude, he didn't ask me any more questions. I promised to continue assisting him in the future, believing that he can help more patients regain their hope for life.
Voice Lines
Japanese VA: Nobuhiko Okamoto | Chinese VA: Zhai Xiao
(As I can only add up to ten audio files per post, I’ll only include the Japanese lines below! Feel free to ask for the Chinese ones, though.)
Kira Kitazato. I'm a medical intern. Not much else to say. Anything you want to ask?
About myself? Let's see... My hobby is human experimentation. ... What's with that face? I'm obviously joking.
Helping patients who need help. Obviously, as a doctor.
I seem like a different person when holding a gun? Has he been discovered? That's my secret alternate personality, named Lucky. ... That was a joke, relax.
You're my friend. But you're also an interesting experimental subject. That's about it.
I don't particularly care about it. It has no connection to a doctor's skill level.
In a difficult operation, the smallest mistake can influence the patient's survival. Honestly, it's a lot of pressure... but it must be overcome.

Crochet Patterns for Palestine
Making a new post for this; I'll still accept donation receipts from all organizations linked on the previous version of this post, but my focus has shifted and/or concentrated somewhat.
Tumblr media
[Alt]
This crochet pattern is for small cats, of a good size to make into keychains, magnets, or even hair clips! There are six PDF versions available:
- US stitch names in 12 point Atkinson Hyperlegible - US stitch names in 22 point Atkinson Hyperlegible - US stitch names in 22 point Comic Sans
- UK stitch names in 12 point Atkinson Hyperlegible - UK stitch names in 22 point Atkinson Hyperlegible - UK stitch names in 22 point Comic Sans
Between those six options, that should cover most pattern accessibility needs. If you need something else, though, let me know! I’m prepared to offer a .doc or similar file on an individual basis if you need a screenreader to access crochet patterns, and have a sheet I can use to translate things to German stitch terms (though more in-depth instructions would still be in English). The pattern is worked primarily in (US) single crochet/(UK) double crochet, with the ears in (US) double crochet/(UK) treble crochet popcorn stitches, and is bundled with similar file options of a popcorn stitch tutorial PDF (no stitch names used).
“Socchan,” you say, “These cats are super cute! And you said that this pattern is for charity? How does that work exactly?”
I’m glad you asked! Simply donate a minimum of $3 or close-enough local equivalent to a related charity, then take a screencap of your receipt/proof of donation. Block out any information that could doxx you; it’s nice if you trust me, but it’s not impossible that my email could get hacked, and I want you to be safe! Finally, email the altered screencap to socchan (at) protonmail (dot) com.
Once I get and check the screencap, I will email you back with a password-locked zipped folder of all six files, as well as the password. I will do my best to respond to all emails within two days of receiving them. Please be respectful of both my work and this donation incentive and don't upload the patterns elsewhere!
As a bonus, if you take your donation up to at least $5 (or close-enough local equivalent), I’ll throw in an additional link and password for a very cute little flower pattern!

“That sounds pretty easy,” you go on to say, “but where should I donate? There are so many options to choose from!”
No problem! Check out Operation Olive Branch: A spreadsheet collecting lots and lots of links to fundraisers in Palestine.
Too much information to sort through? Here are some good general options:
Palestine Children’s Relief Fund - Focuses on medical aid to children in Palestine Medical Aid for Palestine - “[H]elp MAP respond to the ongoing emergency in Gaza, as well as provide medical supplies, support healthcare services and deliver long term development to healthcare in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.” MAP reportedly has a team on the ground in Gaza, providing critical medical aid. Anera - Providing food, hygiene kits, and medical care in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Palestine Red Crescent - More medical support in Palestine; the rest of the webpage is in Arabic, so be prepared if you want to click around at all. Basically the Palestinian Red Cross. Crips for eSims for Gaza - This organization is raising money to buy eSims in bulk, to help Palestinians in Gaza to communicate with the outside world. Help Gaza Children - Organized in part by Tumblrite @fairuzfan, Help Gaza Children provides food and toys to children in Gaza, feeding bodies and hearts.
"Socchan," you say, "I heard about this other person who is offering something else in exchange for proof of donation to Palestine-related charities. If I make a donation to get a drawing of a dragon, or some neat music, or a book of international vegan recipes, or something else I've found, is it okay if I also use that same donation or purchase to get a crochet pattern or two?"
Absolutely! What matters to me is that the people of Palestine get the aid they need. One of the reasons I made my minimum donation request so low is because I know that money is tight for a lot of people right now; even small donations are still very welcome to many of these organizations, and I understand if you need to make your money stretch as far as it can.
Thank you so much for reading this far! Please consider boosting this post, so it can reach more crocheters and crocheter-adjascent people.

Selling / ordering keychains online
Hi all, hope there's someone out there that can help!
I'm interested in trying to sell some custom keychains, but I'm terribly new to this (I've only ever sold digital products) and hope someone can shed some clarity on these questions:
Do people have any personal experience selling art merch on Etsy or Ko-fi? I'd love it if you could share what it's like, how you determined pricing/shipping, etc.
I'm considering using Vograce or Melody Charms to bulk buy keychains - both are in China, though, and I've no idea if the crazy tariffs are going to change things / force me to pay more than expected. Does anyone in the US have any info about this?
I'd really appreciate any and all help, thank you!

hi!! different person, but similar question to the person who asked about selling things online as a disabled artist. I would also appreciate an answer from anyone who has experience on this kind of thing, I will be keeping an eye on notes!! :3
I'm not really able to find work where I live, I don't have a diploma or a car and I'm physically unable to do food work. i am artistically skilled though and want to be like, a fandom artist? I want to make prints, stickers, shirts, charms, zines/doujinshis, and eventually more physical stuff like fursuit parts when I'm able to afford exploring that. also digital goods like adopts or YCH/commissions.
do you (or anyone in notes!) have resources or info or experience on selling like, trinkets and art merch? keeping motivation on developing into a freelance career artist?? I know it'll take a while but I'm willing to do the work & I'm willing to sacrifice myself and my art for the algorithm.
that's tough, i'm sorry finding work is so challenging for you in your situation. conventional jobs have been off limit to me for years due to lack of transportation, disability, and so on, so i totally understand that. the economy is harsh right now
the thing to keep in mind when starting is how many different kinds of supplies you will need. the different projects you can do are going to directly be limited by how many supplies you can afford. many hobbies use the same types of materials, wire can be used for wire wrapping, keychains, necklaces, and many other things. elastic string can make both necklaces and bracelets. acrylic paint can be used for a lot of things like altering clothing and objects as well as traditional paintings. thrift stores often times have large boxes of stone, wood, and plastic beads which can be used to make a variety of different types of jewelry. i've also found bulk perler beads, and other craft supplies!
i've always wanted to make fursuits as well, but i would need a sewing machine and a lot of fabric LOL. i'd be curious to hear from fursuit makers since that's been an interest of mine since i first learned about them
mailing things isn't too bad all things considered, you may be able to get free pickup for your outgoing products. also keep in mind that you will need to buy and print shipping labels for every order you ship. motivation is tough but i mitigate that one by allowing myself to try something new when i get bored. maybe i challenge myself to make a new type of jewelry or see if another craft is affordable and look into starting that. when you're your own boss you do get to decide what you do with your time and that's one of the best parts
any other disabled artists who make their own products and trinkets feel free to chime in with advice. sometimes this is what we have to do in order to survive and that's what it is. i'm definitely not a pro at what i'm doing so i'd love to hear from other more experienced folks as well!

I had a question regarding printing out your art in your experience (prints or keychains) and I saw your keychain designs of dexter and dib (on twt on march 20 this year) I was wondering how are you able to print out the colors that you want? since printing is limited to CMYK and the CMYK is known for being "dull" compared to RGB. I use procreate and theres so many options for CMYK color palettes, Im just overwhelmed and new to this and hoping to get answers from someone with experience. Thank you in advance
in my experience it can definitely vary between manufacturers, i've ordered from a few including vograce and some other stores on aliexpress. vograce is definitely a good one if you want to order in bulk, their moq for many of their items is at least 3 i think. i don't think there's any way to pick which printing options you want unless you look at the product description, it should typically tell you (i've yet to see any stores that offer rgb printing in my experience) so if you're worried about the colors you could always up the saturation a bit, but personally i haven't had any problems with dullness with my keychains! i hope this helps :]

FEATURE: Add To Cart!: Young Entrepreneurs of UPIS and Their Businesses
The holidays are right around the corner! Looking for something to add to your wishlist? Or maybe you still don’t know what to give to your friends and family? Check out these entrepreneurs who’s got gadgets and gizmos a plenty! Let's take a closer look at these unique and affordable products from UPIS student-owned businesses.
Solaris Pins by Arianne Pablo
Tumblr media
Have you ever wanted to wear your drawings on your bags? Or maybe you want affordable merchandise from your favorite anime, shows, and k-pop groups? Send in your designs to Solaris Pins to turn them into button pins!
Solaris Pins is a customized button pin business by Arianne Pablo of Batch 2027. You can send in your personal designs to Arianne and she will turn them into wearable button pins! The designs can be anything under the sun; some of the designs Arianne's clients have sent are pictures of their pets, their favorite album covers, their favorite character, and even their own artworks! As these pins are customizable, this is a perfect gift for anyone!
Tumblr media
Her 1.5 inch glossy pins start at 20 php a piece. Discounts for wholesale or bulk orders are negotiable and are available starting at 20 pieces and above. You can even have the pins individually packed; how perfect for organizations or artists looking to sell their designs as merchandise!
Her love for collecting pins definitely ignited the passion for starting a button pin business.
Arianne’s joy from collecting pins turned into something bigger; it was now Arianne who is sharing and sparking joy among her customers!
“I wanted to start a business out of something I enjoyed doing,” she said. “The idea mostly came from my struggle to find merchandise of a certain video game I like, and anything that was available on the market was outside of my budget.” She then started making her own button pins so that she could save money and have no need to buy merchandise online.
The launching of Solaris Pins was made possible with the help of her friends and family, shared Arianne.
She said that her mother helped her manage the finance of the business while her friends helped her in her creative process. “She [my mother] helped me with the pricing of the products, as well as the calculations of everything down to the production costs and investment. On the creative side, I asked for advice from my friends regarding the aesthetics of the business's brand and the kind of products they would most likely buy.” It was a rocky start for Arianne but she persevered through the support she had.
The name Solaris Pins was also the result of Arianne brainstorming with her friends. It is actually inspired by a tale we might’ve heard from our childhood!
“...Icarus, who flew too close to the sun because of his own ambitions. Although the story is a bit grim, my friend insisted that I should use it as inspiration and 'shoot for the sun,' just as Icarus did,” said Arianne. Thus, Solaris came to be: Sol from the Roman sun god and Ari, Arianne's nickname.
Arianne shared that more sizes, types of button pins, and even her very own designs will be available in the future! Come create with Arianne and follow them on Instagram (@solaris.pins).

These crochet goodies range from 15 php to 159 php. I'm sure you can find a cute handmade trinket to give to your flower-loving loved ones here at marli.knots.
“I was drawn to crochet since it allowed me to create unique items with yarn, hook, and my hands,” said Marla.
Making crochet goods started as a hobby for Marla during the pandemic. Her sister, after seeing Marla's passion for crocheting, encouraged her to also start a business. (Marla's sister, Elle, is also featured in this article!) With her sister's support, she launched marli.knots last year on her birthday, January 21st, 2023!
“The name came from an inside joke of me and Ate Elle, my older sister, when we were at the mall. She randomly said ‘Marli, no’ when she was telling me to stop, and it continued to ‘Marli, not’ to ‘Marli, knot’.” She shared that it was the perfect name as her nickname is Marli, and her yarn would get tangled up whenever she crochets.
Marla's sister served as a big inspiration for her. The love and support from her family pushed Marla to step out of her comfort zone and start marli.knots!

Asked about the origin of her business’ name, Mati shared, “The ultimate reason as to why I ended up with the name is because I wanted it to start with my initials (M.C.)! I looked for words, preferably those that could refer to a collection of charms and accessories, that started with my initials, and ended up with ‘charms miscellanea’"!
Don't you think it's the perfect business name that captures Mati's creativity and love for these accessories? This business is still growing and is definitely worth following! Look out for the next set of themed accessories to launch. Follow charms miscellanea on Instagram (@charms.miscellanea).
beadbadoobead by Elle Obnamia
Tumblr media
Can't get enough of beaded accessories? We've got another business on our list that also sells them! These cute, crafty, and colorful accessories will surely get you tangled in love, stuck in the anik-anik frenzy–only here in beadbadoobead!
CEO Elle Obnamia of Batch 2025 also sells a variety of trinkets and accessories such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, figurine keychains, and she even accepts customized orders! These accessories definitely emulate a fun and feminine vibe!
Tumblr media
Elle's creations currently range from 15 php to 250 php; how affordable! I'm sure you will find a gift that fits your budget in beadbadoobead! To give you an idea on where to start browsing, her bestsellers are the Heart to Heart bracelet, Very Berry phone charm, and blind box keychains. She also shared her personal favorites: the Louise necklace and the Wonderful Pretty Cure inspired earrings, a custom request from one of her clients!
beadbadoobead has an interesting origin story; it actually started from a school requirement!
Elle and her group mates from Grade 10 started beadbadoobead together as a group project in Practical Arts. It started on March 23, 2023 and ended around May of the same year. Elle then decided to continue the business alone and launched her first collection last December 2023.
“Honestly, it was a big decision for our group to continue the business idea… After the group project, I saved all the money I got to start again from scratch. I didn’t want beadbadoobead go to (sic) waste after seeing its potential.”
After seeing the business’ potential, along with the support from the people around her, it gave her inspiration to start go solo. She also shared that she has always loved arts and crafts.
“I remember one time when my father used to make jokes when I was little, making little trinkets and crafts: ‘Uy, benta natin ‘yan gawa ka marami oh, ang ganda!’” She reminisced. “Little me would just laugh it off but who would tell her she’s doing exactly what the joke meant today? Other than that, I would say I am really a gift-giving person since birth. Making things like these make me happy and seeing people receive and buy them makes me happier. And that’s what beadbadoobead is!”
Elle saw potential and took the chance. Now, look at how much beadbadoobead has grown!

Wishlist: Starting a business. Where do you start?
Starting a business is hard, so how did they do it? It’s inspiring to see young students take a huge leap, start a business, and continue to operate alongside prioritizing their studies and other extracurricular activities!
Tumblr media
“Being a student, I've found that the most difficult part of owning a small business is to balance my school, work, and personal life with how busy it gets. I learned to manage my time by adhering to a schedule and setting priorities for myself.”
Arianne acknowledges the added weight of being a small business owner as a student but is here to give a lot of advice for students who are interested in starting their own business: it all starts with planning. It might be stressful but is crucial to set the pacing of your workflow, she said. Organization is also important especially with financial matters. “Don't be shy and advertise your products, try to make pubmats if you can! (Dapat makapal mukha, hehehe!)” she shared; confidence is often overlooked when talking about business. Last but not least, Arianne reminds us that it's okay to take breaks and to always prioritize your health and well-being.
Tumblr media
“As a student who owns a business, it has taught me how to manage time and have discipline. It has helped me set boundaries and practiced (sic) planning ahead. It has helped me keep up a good mindset because even small achievements motivate me,” Marla shared.
Having your own business will definitely teach you a lot of things! Marla's advice for you aspiring student-entrepreneurs is to start with something you're passionate about. She also reminds us to find the lesson in everything, “Take small steps and learn as you go. Each experience will teach you something valuable”. Marla's last reminder for us is to stay true to yourself and to enjoy!
Tumblr media
Mati shared that by running charms miscellanea, she realized how much work needs to be put in the business to provide good quality service to her customers. “I also learned how truly important it is to enjoy your craft in order to continuously create new and improved products!”
Mati also shares that income is key to a business, but what's important is you enjoy the products you make!
“It is more important, in my eyes, to keep in mind that the more fun you have when creating your products, the more thought you will put into them. The care with which you make your products is definitely evident, so always make sure to enjoy what you are doing! It feels so much more accomplishing when you see somebody wear and use the things you'd created with such care, rather than just when you remember how much money you made upon selling them,” she shared.
Tumblr media
As a student-entrepreneur, Elle shared that she learned the importance of balancing different parts of her life. beadbadoobead helped her be more approachable and it enhanced her communication skills! “This business taught me how to deal with problems, failures, and how to make use of my success to succeed even more. It also gives me self-value as I’m doing this all alone. It’s such an eye-opener that a lot of people love my crafts and their suggestions is (sic) never a negative thing to take, instead it is something the business would benefit from and is something my customers would like to see me do.”
They say that good things take time. Elle shares that aside from love and passion, you also need patience to be a successful student-entrepreneur.
“Start with something you love, continue doing it with love and patience, and people will love what you do.”
It's inspiring to see these entrepreneurs start young and create their own business whilst being a student! Daunting it may be, we can see that these entrepreneurs enjoy what they do, we see the effort and love they give for to their products and customers, and we see the patience each one of them has for their business; it truly is admirable!
My wishlist surely did get longer! Did you see anything you liked? Well, what are you waiting for? Visit and follow these UPIS student-owned small businesses!
