One endlessly good man who is still just a man being made into a legend he didnât want as a side product of attempting to do the right thing (and pulling it off by sheer luck and an overabundance of balls) in order to be used for propaganda by people who always have something to gain from him and then being attacked for that same legend by those same people because it was meant to be an easily manipulated myth. It wasnât meant to be a prophecy, it wasnât meant to be true. All the butterfly story really is is just that, a story. Thatâs not how the world actually works and nobody can be that good anyway, right - but if somehow this one nobody man really is just naturally that good despite the way of the world around him, what does that mean for them? What does looking in that mirror make them? What light does his presence cast them in but an ugly shadow? So they try to tear him down to prove that heâs just a man and he is - he meddles and oversteps and fumbles his way through the shadowy workings of politics like a blind man, letting his faith in the good of people get in the way of good judgement - but heâs the kind of man that keeps choosing to be good and true over and over despite his doubts, despite what the world throws at him, that in doing so he inevitably inspires the people around him to do the same.

HYENA JOHNNY
sfw + nsfw. rut. knotting. premature ejaculation. service top!johnny (?)
you meet johnny at a bar.
the place is old but well-kept, a place thatâs obviously seen its share of rowdy nights and heavy pours but still holds its charm. dark wood, polished by time and restless hands, stretches beneath your fingertips. liquor bottles line the shelves behind the counter.
the air humsâ conversation rising and falling in waves, punctuated by the occasional burst of laughter, the sharp clink of glasses meeting in messy toasts. the dim lighting catches on old brass fixtures, scuffs on the floor telling stories of countless nights just like this one.
and behind the bar, johnny.
he moves like he owns the place, because, clearly, he does. he reaches for bottles without looking, flicks open the tap with a smooth twist of his wrist. the other bartenders glance his way for cues. itâs plain that johnny doesnât just work here. he runs the show.
and it's that experience that has him spotting you immediately.
âwhatâll it be, sweetheart?â the words roll off his tongue, practiced but not indifferent.
"a mocktail.â
johnny pauses, processing, then snorts. âthatâs tragic. you say that like you mean it.â
"i do."
he clicks his tongue, shaking his head, the motion loose. âwaste of a perfectly good night, that.â
"iâm the designated driver," you shoot back, somehow feeling like you have to defend yourself, jerking a thumb over your shoulder.
your friends are deep in itâ half-dancing, half-stumbling, belting lyrics to a song that isnât playing. one of them throws their arms around anotherâs neck, nearly taking them both down in the process
johnny follows your gaze, lets out a low whistle. âah. the shepherd of the drunk.â his tail sways behind him, amused. âa noble role.â
"someone has to get them home alive."
he drums his fingers against the bar, eyes flicking between you and the mess unfolding on the dance floor. âyou sure you donât wanna let natural selection do its thing?â
you huff a laugh, shaking your head. "tempting. but iâd rather not explain to their mothers why they woke up in a hedge."
he grins. âfair enough. guess that means you get a drink that doesnât kick back.â he rolls his shoulders before reaching for bottles. âwhatâs the call, then? fruity? sour?â
"surprise me."
johnny hums, tilting his head, eyes narrowing slightly like heâs sizing you up. âdangerous words, that.â but heâs already moving, rolling up his sleeves as he reaches for a shaker. âhope you like a bit of bite.â
"that a threat?"
ânah,â he says. âjust a promise.â
you watch him work.
his hands move fast, sure, an efficiency that only comes with time and muscle memory. bottles tip, liquid pours in smooth arcs, ice clatters against the tin before he seals it with a sharp tap. he doesnât fumble, doesnât second-guessâ he moves with a rhythm stitched into his bones.
and heâs a hyena. no mistaking it.
the broad grin, all sharp teeth. the spots dusting his forearms, darker markings trailing up his skin where his sleeves are shoved back. but more than that, itâs how he carries himselfâ as if he was built to be here, to take up space without hesitation.
he shakes the tin with quick jerks, wrists rolling, muscles shifting under skin.
âso,â he starts, barely looking up as he strains the drink into a glass, âyou always this responsible, or is this a special occasion?â
"i like knowing iâll wake up in my own bed."
he hums, dropping a garnish into the glass with a flick of his fingers. âcanât argue with that.â then he slides the drink toward you, tapping the rim lightly with one claw. âstill. shame to waste a night like this on sobriety.â
you lift the glass, taking a slow sip. citrus, something tart, something fizzy at the edges, a hint of spice lingering at the back of your tongue.
"not bad," you admit.â
johnny leans in slightly, bracing his forearms against the bar, grin widening. ââcourse itâs not. you think iâd serve you shite?â
"i've known you for all five minutes. forgive me if i didnât know what to expect."
he chuckles, head tilting, ears flicking forward. âstick around, sweetheart. iâll raise those expectations in no time.â
"confident, arenât you?"
âdamn right.â his eyes flick over you. âwhy? that a problem?â
"just wondering if it ever gets you in trouble."
his grin turns wolfishâ if a hyena could pull off wolfish. âconstantly.â
you donât take him home that night. not because you donât want toâ because you do, god, you doâ but because youâve got a job to do.
instead, you spend the next hour wrangling your friends, guiding them into overpriced rideshares, confiscating a stolen pint glass, and prying one of them away from a very ill-advised conversation with a married senior executive.
by the time you finally collapse into bed, your jacket still smells like whiskey and citrus, your ears still ringing with laughter.
you tell yourself you wonât think about the bartender with the easy grin and the voice that curled around your name like it belonged to him.
you tell yourself a lot of things.
the work gala arrives like an obligation dressed as an opportunity. the invitation promised networking, an open bar, and a celebration of months of labor.
but you donât want to go.
you doubt anyone does, but itâs not really a choice. the project your team has spent months sweating over is finally seeing the light of day, and the higher-ups need their captive audience. they need applause, nods of approval, praise whispered over crystal flutes of overpriced champagne.
so you go.
you let yourself be swept inside, past sleek decor and halfhearted compliments, past handshakes that mean nothing and conversations that mean even less. the champagne is crisp, the hors d'oeuvres bite-sized and forgettable, and the smiles around you all feel the same.
the work gala is everything you expected.
the kind of event that looks dazzling in photos but feels hollow in person. the chandeliers glisten, the glasses are always full, and the music hums soft and unintrusive, a backdrop for corporate egos to stretch their legs. itâs all smiles that donât reach the eyes, laughter thatâs a beat too polished, and conversations that carry the distinct flavor of ambition disguised as small talk.
the dress helps, if anything. a deep color, clean lines, the kind that turns a glance into a second look. a little armor against the monotony of handshakes and careful smiles.
you last about ten minutes before you seek out the bar.
and thatâs when you see him.
johnny.
standing behind the counter like he owns the place, despite the fact that he very much does not.
his sleeves are pushed up, forearms bared, and his tie is hanging loose like it barely survived a halfhearted attempt at professionalism. he looks like someone who should be on the other side of the bar, drink in hand, making people laugh too loud. but heâs here, somehow, and heâs already watching you.
he leans into the counter, the soft golden glow of the pendant lights casting sharp shadows across his grinâ and it looks suspiciously like heâs been waiting for you to notice him.
and of course, you do. how could you not?
johnny isnât just attractive.
that would be too simple. attraction is easy, common. but johnny is something else. something loud and impossible to ignore, the kind of presence that bends a room around him, that demands attention without asking for it.
you stop short, fingers tightening around the stem of your glass. âjohnny?â
he grins. âlast i checked.â
your eyes flick down to the neatly pressed vest, the gleaming bar, the expensive bottles lined up in perfect order.
then back to him.
âwhat the hell are you doing here?â
johnny reaches for a glass, inspecting it against the light before setting it down with a soft clink. âservinâ drinks, apparently.â
your brow lifts. âyou own a pub.â
âthat i do.â
âso why are you working here?â
âmoneyâs good.â he shrugs, as if thatâs a reason.
you give him a look. âyou couldâve sent someone else.â
his smirk twitches into a grin. âcouldâve.â
you narrow your eyes. âbut?â
johnny leans in slightly, resting his forearms on the bar. âbut then i wouldnât have run into you, would i?â
heat pricks the back of your neck. âyou expect me to believe you took this job on the off chance iâd be here?â
ânah,â he says easily, reaching for a bottle, twisting off the cap with practiced ease. âbut itâs a hell of a nice surprise.â
you exhale, shaking your head. âunbelievable.â
âwhatâs unbelievable is that youâre still holdinâ that same drink,â he says, nodding toward the half-full glass in your hand. âstartinâ to think you donât trust me.â
âi barely trust this event,â you say dryly. âlet alone the bar staff.â
johnny places a hand over his heart, mock-wounded. âcut me deep, sweetheart.â
you roll your eyes, setting your drink down. âfine. impress me.â
his grin turns sharp, all teeth. âdangerous thing to ask.â
he moves with a kind of effortless confidence, each motion smooth, deliberate, like he doesnât need to think about it. bottles spin in his hands, liquid pours clean, precise. the scent of citrus and something smoky rises as he mixes, the clink of ice against glass filling the space between you.
when he slides the drink across the bar, he taps the rim lightly with one finger. a challenge.
you take a sip.
pause.
lick the taste from your lips.
his smirk lingers, watching. waiting.
ââŠdamn it.â you exhale. âthatâs actually good.â
johnny laughs, pleased. âyou planninâ on apologizing for that remark earlier?â
your pulse jumps.
âand how exactly would i do that?â
he tilts his head, considering. âstick around. drink somethinâ strong. keep lookinâ at me like that.â
and just like that, youâre in trouble.
you donât mean to get drunk. you came here to be seen, to endure, to let your boss soak up the credit for your work while you nod along. but then johnny makes you a drink, and when you finish it too fast, he makes you another.
responsibility starts as a whisper.
drink slower. be professional. donât plant yourself at the bar all night.
then he tilts his head just so, watching you like youâre a puzzle he intends to solve and the whisper fades.
you order another.
somewhere around your third drink, your laughter turns ease. johnnyâs grin mirrors it, fingers working effortlessly over glass and steel as he keeps the drinks flowing.
fourth drink, you tell him he has unfairly nice hands. he nearly spills a cocktail laughing.
five drinks in, you go for a napkin, miss entirely, and send a row of garnishes tumbling. staring down at the mess, you seriously debate the logistics of picking them up without falling under the bar.
johnny exhales, tossing a rag over his shoulder. "i think that means youâre cut off, sweetheart."
"you think a lot of things," you mutter, blinking up at him, heavy-lidded and unbothered.
his laughter softens, turns fond. "and iâm usually right."
you pout at him until you sway a little too much, and the world tilts just slightly before a hand reaches over the bar to steady you.
he exhales through his nose, shaking his head, muttering half-amused, half-exasperated, "jesus."
for a moment, johnny considers just throwing you over his shoulder and dealing with the consequences later. heâs a hyena, after all, and hyenas take care of their own. youâre his, in some loose, nebulous way, and it wouldnât be difficult to make sure you got home safe.
but even in your current state, he figures you wouldnât be thrilled about waking up in a strangerâs bed with no memory of how you got there.
so, he does the next best thing.
he steals your phone.
you donât even notice, too busy playing with the condensation on your glass, and he sighs as he tilts the screen toward your face.
the lock screen slides open instantly.
"oh, sweetheart," he murmurs, shaking his head. "youâre makinâ this too easy."
he scrolls through your messages, thumb tapping with sharp efficiency, scanning over names he doesnât recognize until he finds a group chat that looks promising. lots of emojis. lots of inside jokes. someone had typed in all caps at some point about a brunch reservation, so yeahâ thisâll do.
he thumbs out a message: âyour friend is very drunk. come get them before she pukes over my bar.â and attaches the location.
and then, because he can, because he wants to, because some part of him already knows heâll be seeing you again, he puts his number in your contacts, too.
you wake up to a headache and a mistake.
the headache, at least, makes sense. it splits through your skull the second you shift, a dull, relentless throb pulsing behind your eyes, pressing into the backs of your sockets like a vice tightening around your brain. your mouth is dry, tongue thick with the stale aftertaste of liquor, and your body feels like dead weight, limbs tangled in sheets that are too warm, too heavy. everything is stiffâ your neck, your shoulders, your stomach twisting in protest as the memories of last night flicker back in fragments. a bar. dark wood. golden light. laughter that lingered low in your chest, warm and sweet, andâ
him.
your stomach flips before your brain can even process why.
you groan, rolling onto your side, pushing your face into the pillow to block out the morning. you want to sleep, to bury yourself beneath the covers and pretend none of it happenedâ whatever it is. but your body betrays you, instincts dragging your arm across the mattress, fumbling blindly for your phone where it mustâve slipped from your hand sometime in the night.
your fingers brush cool metal. you blink blearily at the screen.
the glow cuts through the dimness of your room, soft and insistent, illuminating the single notification waiting for you.
a new contact.
johnny ;)
your stomach twists harder.
you blink at it.
once.
twice.
the emoji taunts you, cocky even in pixels, a playful little wink that makes something hot curl at the base of your spine. the name itself is bad enoughâ too much of a reminder of how his mouth quirked up when he poured your drink, and the warmth of his fingers when brushed against yours as he slid it across the bar.
your pulse ticks up. you hesitate, thumb hovering over the screen, torn between the impulse to check and the ridiculous urge to just not know.
but you already know youâre going to look.
you swipe, and the screen shifts.
one unread message.
johnny: still alive, sweetheart?
your first instinct is to throw the phone across the room. your second is to type something back. something quick, something effortless, something that wonât make it obvious that your pulse just stuttered in your throat.
you fail spectacularly.
you: barely. might never recover.
his response is immediate, and it makes you wonder if he was already waiting.
johnny: tragic. if iâd known, i wouldâve given you a proper sendoff
heat prickles at the back of your neck. you stare at the message for a second too long, then lock your phone and press it flat against your chest as if that might do something about the way your heart is suddenly working overtime.
and just like that, it starts. small things, at first. quick, snappy messages.
johnny: remind me to never let you near tequila again. i donât think youâd survive round two.
you: bold of you to assume i wouldnât win.
johnny: bold of YOU to assume you won anything last night. you begged me for water.
you: lies. slander. i demand proof.
johnny: aye, sweetheart, iâd send the security footage, but i think the sight of you poutinâ at me over a glass of water might be too much for your fragile ego.
you donât have a response for that. you lock your phone, toss it onto your bed, and roll onto your stomach, groaning into your pillow.
but the messages keep coming.
johnny: howâs the hangover? or should i start gettinâ that funeral procession in order?
you: surprisingly not dead.
johnny: pity. i wouldâve made a great eulogy.
itâs easy, too easy.
he starts asking about your day. you start telling him.
johnny: howâd the deadline go? survived it?
you: took three cups of coffee and some questionable life choices, but itâs done
johnny: questionable life choices, huh? do i even want to ask?
you: if you must know, i impulse bought a croissant the size of my head. no regrets
johnny: i admire the dedication. although iâd be more impressed if you could finish it.
you: challenge accepted
he keeps talking to you. keeps pulling you in, coaxing conversation out of you and somehow it all feels natural, effortless.
he makes fun of the salad you regret ordering for lunch.
you: i donât know what i expected. itâs lettuce.
johnny: truly a tragic meal. if you die from boredom, i promise iâll give a heartfelt speech at the funeral.
you: thatâs the second time youâve threatened to monologue at my funeral. should i be worried?
johnny: just beinâ prepared, sweetheart. never know when tragedy might strike.
he complains about a difficult customer but immediately follows up with ânot that i'm whinin'. boss canât be seen whininâ."
the more he texts, the worse it gets.
you catch yourself checking your phone too often, waiting for his name to light up your screen. you start carrying your charger everywhere, the battery never allowed to dip low, just in case. when he texts, you answer too fast. when he doesnât, you fight the stupid urge to stare at your phone, to wonder if heâs busy, to think about what his hands might be doing instead.
somewhere along the way, the teasing shifts into something else. something a little slower.
johnny: long day?
you: feels like it
johnny: go easy on yourself, sweetheart. tomorrowâs just gonna show up and make a mess of things all over again.
your fingers hover over the keyboard. something about it makes you pause, makes your stomach do that stupid little thing where it twists up in knots.
you: thatâs bleak
johnny: nah. just means thereâs always another chance to make somethinâ good out of it.
you donât have a response for that either.
turns out you don't need one because then he follows it up with aâ
johnny: what are you doinâ friday?
your stomach flips.
you: depends. why?
this time, the response doesnât come immediately.
you watch the typing bubble appear. disappear. reappear.
johnny: takinâ you out. thatâs why.
your breath catches. your hands hesitate over the keyboard, mind racing, running in circles. you type something and delete it. type again. delete. finally, you settle onâ
you: at your pub?
his reply is fast.
johnny: christ, no. my staff would never let me leave alive.
you: fair point. so where, then?
johnny: youâll see ;)
you are, without a doubt, in trouble.
johnny is ready. more than ready. too ready, if you ask his staff.
heâs been buzzing since you said yes, practically vibrating through the walls of his pub, too restless to stand still. his staff have been suffering through it for daysâ watching him plan the date down to the minute, pick out the restaurant, polish his shoes, practice his stories in the backroom mirror with an alarming level of dedication.
âyouâre a grown man,â gaz mutters at one point, rubbing his temples as johnny rehearses a joke for the fifth time. ânot a schoolboy with his first crush.â
heâs taken people out before, sure, but thisâ this is different. his fingers twitch when he thinks about it. his pulse kicks like itâs trying to outrun him. he shoves it all down, tells himself to act normal, be normal, but his body betrays him at every turn.
and then, just as he reaches your door, just as he lifts his fist to knockâ
his rut slams into him like a sledgehammer.
hyena ruts are brutal.
unlike wolves or big cats, they donât creep in slow, donât build over days like a fire waiting for kindling. no, hyenas go from zero to hundred in the space of a breathâ one second fine, the next wrecked by an all-consuming need, by instincts that donât care for reason or timing.
johnny staggers, barely catching himself before he hits the wall, his shoulder slamming into brick with a dull, shuddering thud. his claws scrape at his own arms, blunt nails dragging hard enough to leave welts beneath his fur, but it doesnât help, nothing fucking helps. his body isnât listening. his breath stutters, fast and uneven, catching in his throat like heâs choking on something thick and hot. sweat beads at his temples, slicks the back of his neck, soaks into his shirt despite the night air.
his stomach knots, muscles pulling tight, something twisting low in his gut like a wire wound too far. his mouth hangs open, his tongue thick, saliva pooling behind his teeth like his body is preparing for a bite, for a kill. his canines throb, the dull ache settling deep in his jaw, instincts curling sharp beneath his ribs, thick and hungry and dangerous.
and fuck. fuck, heâs so hard he canât breathe.
his cock strains against his trousers, the fabric pulled taut over the thick, aching line of it, every throb so deep it rattles in his bones. he shifts, trying to ease it, trying to will it down, but the movement just grinds the swollen head against the seam of his fly, drags coarse fabric over his leaking tip, makes him hiss between clenched teeth. his balls are tight, drawn up so high itâs like theyâre trying to retreat into his body, his whole system locked down, caught in something primal and unforgiving.
he clenches his fists, claws digging into his palms, every muscle in his body coiled and trembling with the effort of staying still, of not grinding down against something, of not reaching between his legs and squeezing his own cock in his fist just to take the edge off.
and then he fucking whimpers.
the sound wrenches out of him, cracking at the end. his breath stutters, catches in his throat, his body too hot, too tight.
johnny's head tips back, knocking against the brick, his hips twitching forward in a broken little jerk, chasing nothing, his cock pulsing angrily, trapped and swollen, sensitivity that borders on pain. he squeezes his eyes shut, teeth grinding, sweat rolling down his spine, but it doesnât help. nothing helps.
and thenâ the door creaks open.
he flinches, his whole body jolting, his breath shoving out of him in a ragged, shaking gasp.
youâre there.
crouched beside him, close enough that he can catch your scent, something grounding and unbearable all at once. your hand hovers near his arm like youâre about to touch him.
no.
âno-â it breaks from his lips before he can stop it. âno- back inside-â
his fingers barely catch your sleeve before slipping off, his limbs weak, useless. âcall-â he tries again, panting through clenched teeth. âcall for help- call for- fuck-â
but you donât move. you donât go back inside. you donât slam the door shut. you donât listen.
you reach for him. and he folds.
the second your fingers brush his skin, johnny's whole body caves, shaking apart under the weight of whatever the fuck is happening to him. his forehead knocks against your shoulder, a shuddering noise ripping from his throat as he clings to you, his fingers fisting into your shirt like youâre the only solid thing left in the world.
âoh, fuck-â his cock aches. throbs. pulses against the stiff, unforgiving line of his zipper.
he grinds against nothing, every twitch of his hips sending another spike of sensation shooting up his spine. his balls are heavy, swollen, so full itâs like they might burst, like they might spill just from the way his trousers dig into them, the way his body is wound too tight, too fucking close to something he canât control.
he needs. he needs.
fuck, but he shouldnât.
âi-â he tries to pull back, tries to put space between you, but his fingers wonât listen. instead, they curl tighter, dragging you in, his body betraying him in real time, his cock pressing flush to your thigh, the heat of it scalding even through layers of fabric.
a noise breaks from him, sounding dangerously close to a sob.
he canât. he canât.
âfuck-â he buries his face against your neck. âmâsorry- mâsorry, just-just a second-â
heâs trembling, breath stuttering, little whimpers breaking past his lips no matter how hard he tries to choke them down.
you say something and he barely registers it through the thick haze clouding his head but your warmth weight, and the press of your body against hisâ
it helps. just a little.
and youâ well, you know exactly whatâs happening.
you donât waste time pretending this is something johnny can just ride out alone. you grip his arms, drag him inside, shove the door shut with your heel and twist the locks tight. then the deadbolt. then the security chain.
your fingers are practiced, muscle memory guiding you through the steps of securing the space.
just in case. just in case someone else nearby is in rut or heat, just in case some poor bastard catches wind of johnnyâs scent and decides to come sniffing around.
(he smells good. too good. sharp and heady, the scent of him curling in the air, thickening with every ragged breath he lets out. you, even you, feel your own instincts stirring, muscles tensing in awareness, your body recognizing his rut and urging you to stay close. to soothe. to let him take what he needs.)
johnny is shaking against you, his whole frame shuddering with the effort of keeping himself together. his breath is hot against your skin, slipping out between the low, broken whimpers he canât seem to bite back
âfuck-fuck, mâsorry,â he stammers, voice catching. âdidnât- didnât mean-â
his claws twitch against your arms, not quite gripping, afraid to hold on too tight.
his tail flicks behind him, anxious, ears pressed flat against his skull. his pupils are blown wide, swallowing up the blue of his eyes, his whole expression caught between shame and need.
âwanted this-â his voice cracks, something dangerously close to a whine. âwanted this to go well. wanted- wanted tâplease you.â
johnny shudders, forehead knocking against your shoulder as another tremor rolls through him. âwanted you to- to see me. see me as a good mate. confident.â
he breathes in, sharp, and his whole body locks up for a moment, every muscle going tautâ then a full-body shiver wracks through him, cock pulsing hard enough that you feel it, even through his trousers, even through your own clothes.
your throat goes dry.
you reach up, smoothing your fingers through his fur, brushing a hand along his back, trying to offer somethingâ some kind of grounding touch, reassurance.
âjohnny,â you murmur, voice steady, firm. âitâs not your fault.â
his breath hitches.
âi really donât mind,â you say again, softer now, pressing the words into the shell of his ear.
a noise catches in his throat, something small, choked and helpless, and he drags his face away from your shoulder, tilting up to look at you properly.
his pupils are still wide, expression still hazy, but he searches your face with almost terrifying seriousness.
his tail flicks again when he seems to find nothing or what he was looking for.
ââŠcan i make it up to you?â
your brows lift.
his ears twitch, jaw flexing, uncertainty plain with how his teeth catch on his lower lip, his eyes flicking down to your mouth and then lower, dragging slow over the curve of your body.
you shift, tilting your head. âhow?â
johnny's tail twitches again then stills. he swallows hard, nostrils flaring, then lifts his gaze back to yours, something new burning in the depths of his expression.
ââŠcan i lick your pussy?â heâs puppy-eyed and pleading, expression screaming with âplease let me- please let me take care of you- please, i need this.â
his breath ghosts warm over your lips, fingers flexing where theyâre still curled weakly around your arms.
heâs trembling, cock leaking. and youâ
you nod.
his ears twitch, breath shuddering out in a sharp little gasp, grip on your thighs tightening. fingers hook into your waistband not a moment later, and he yanks, dragging your pants down, underwear with them, his movements are frantic, almost clumsy in his eagerness. he groans, wrecked and relieved, the second you're bare in front of him, pupils blown, tail wagging, whole body thrumming with âplease, please, please.â
and thenâ
oh.
his tongue is warm.
hot and wet and wide, the rough texture of it dragging over your slit in a slow, open-mouthed lick, firm and eager like he's trying to taste every inch of you.
your breath stutters, hands flying to his head, fingers curling into his thick fur as he groans against you, the sound vibrating up through his tongue, sending sparks of pleasure shooting through your spine.
and he doesn't stop.
doesn't hesitate. doesn't tease.
no, johnny dives in, pressing his face right up against your cunt, burying his nose in the soft flesh of your inner thigh, mouth sealing over you like he's starving.
his tongue flicks, curls, scoops into you, lapping up your slick with these obscene little slurping sounds, breath coming fast and desperate through his nose.
"fuck," you gasp, hips jerking, but he just growls, arms wrapping around your thighs, locking you in place.
his tongue drags up, then circles your clit, flicking once, twice before sucking it into his mouth, lips sealing around it with wet, sloppy pressure.
a sharp, helpless sound breaks from your throat, fingers spasming in his fur, tugging hard, but he just whines, pushing closer, pressing his face deeper between your legs, like he wants to drown in you.
his tail thumps against the floor, hips shifting, rutting, desperate little movements like he needs the friction, like eating you out is wrecking him just as much as itâs wrecking you.
johnnyâs tongue works you open, the rough drag of it lighting up every nerve in your body. heâs sloppy with it, messy and eager as a puppy, sucking and lapping and groaning like he canât get enoughâ like he wonât get enough, not until youâre shaking, not until youâre breaking apart in his hands.
his nose presses in, nuzzling against your clit as he angles his tongue deeper, the slick heat of his mouth sealing around you, sucking, devouring every drop of slick that spills from your pussy. his grip tightens, claws pricking your skin, grounding you against his face as he buries himself in your cunt, breath ragged.
his ears twitch at every moan, every gasp, tail wagging, thudding against the floor in frantic, jerky movements. his hips roll, little ruts against nothing, cock straining in his pants.
and fuck, the way youâre squeezing around his tongue, the way youâre whining, the way your fingers are tugging at his fur, yanking him closer, using him for your pleasureâ
itâs perfect.
his tongue flicks against your clit, so fast he feels like his jaw is gonna cramp and your whole body locks up, muscles tensing, thighs clamping around his head as your pleasure slams through you.
"johnny-!"
you break, back arching, fingers spasming in his hair as your orgasm rips through you, cunt clenching.
and johnny loses it.
his hips snap forward, grinding down against the floor, cock pulsing in his pants, the thick length throbbing in time with your orgasm, so turned on with how youâre gushing into his mouth.
"fuck-â johnnyâs body shaking, arms tightening around your thighs as his own climax crashes into him, his whole frame jerking with it.
his tail spasms, ears flicking wildly, and he ruts with mindless abandon, his tongue still lapping at you as he comes, soaking his trousers, thick spurts spilling out in his underwear, making a mess of himself, of the floor beneath him.
johnnyâs breath stutters, his tongue slower now, softer. he whimpers against you, his hips giving these tiny, involuntary twitches, pleasure still rattling through his system, buzzing under his skin.
heâs a mess. ruined. wrecked.
but heâs still got his mouth on you. heâs still hard.
even after all that, after coming in his pants like a desperate thing, heâs still thick and straining against the damp fabric, the outline of his cock pressing against his zipper, a dark stain spreading where his release had soaked through.
but heâs smiling up at you, lazy, hazy-eyed satisfaction, ears flicking, tail giving a slow, contented thump against the floor. he looks pleased with himself, looks like he just had the best meal of his life, tongue flicking out to lick the last traces of you from his lips.
you swallow, your gaze flicking down, heat curling in your stomach.
"johnny-" your voice comes out soft. "do you- do you wanna fuck me?"
his ears perk up. his breath hitches.
"fuck," he gasps, pupils blown, hips giving a helpless little jerk, grinding into nothing. "fuck, yes- yes, please-â
your voice comes out soft, barely above a whisper, but he hears it like a gunshot.
"fuck me..."
johnny whines. heâs so happy, so relieved, so thrilled that his hands are already moving before his brain catches upâ grabbing at your clothes, tearing them off your body, dragging fabric down your arms, over your hips, tossing them aside like they offend him.
you barely have a second to breathe before heâs fumbling with his own clothes, his pants sticking to his skin, soaked through with his release, and he growls under his breath, impatient, frantic, tearing at the fabric.
you hear the sharp rip before you see him, and by then, itâs too late.
his hands are on your hips again, tugging you back against him, the heat of him pressing up behind you. bare now, nothing between you, andâ
oh.
oh.
there is a lot of him.
you don't see it, but you feel it, the weight of him pressing against you, the head of his cock nudging at your entrance, leaking precum against your folds. your brain catches up in a single, dawning moment of realization.
"u-um- johnny, wait-"
he doesnât wait. he pushes in.
your mouth drops open around a soundless scream, arms giving out beneath you, sending you down onto your hands as your body stretches around him.
"hnnngh- fuck-â
johnny groans, hands locking around your hips, fingers digging in, holding you still as he sinks in deeper, his fat length forcing you open, your walls struggling to accommodate the sheer size of him.
his cock is thick, veined, hot as a brand against your insides, his knot still deflated but already pressing against your entrance, teasing the stretch thatâs still to come.
"sâgood- fuck- so warm-" he babbles, hips twitching. rolling. driving him deeper. deeper. deeper.
you can feel every ridge, every pulse, the wet sounds of your slick mixing with his precum, making everything so messy, so hot, so unbearably good.
your fingers curl against the floor, nails scraping for purchase, breath coming in ragged gasps. you can barely speak, but you manage a single, broken soundâ
"johnny-"
he whimpers, hips jerking forward, sinking the last of himself inside.
heâs so deep you swear you can feel him in your stomach.
he snaps his hips forward, slamming into you with a force that knocks the breath from your lungs.
again.
again.
again.
itâs feral. frantic. mindless. his claws dig into your hips, keeping you locked in place as he fucks into you with the wild, unrelenting pace of an animal.
"fuck- fuck- fuck-"
heâs babbling now, every noise ripped straight from his chest. heâs gone, lost to instinct, breath ragged, panting against your back.
and youâ youâre drooling.
your mouth falls open, a string of spit slipping past your lips, eyes hazy, unfocused, body pliant beneath him. itâs like youâre the one in heat, like his need has infected you, sinking into your skin, making you just as desperate, just as mindless.
his knot isnât even swollen yet, and stillâ stillâ it feels like too much, like your body is barely keeping up, like youâre caught in the eye of a storm and all you can do is take it.
and heâs loving it.
âs-so good-" he whimpers, his voice shaking, thick with pleasure, his ears twitching. "sâtakinâ me so well- fuck- made fïżœïżœïżœme, yeah? made tâbe bred-"
his teeth graze the back of your neck, not quite biting, but close, breath hot against your skin.
"tell me- tell me yâneed it-"
his hips snap forward, hard, cock grinding against the deepest part of you.
"tell me, bonnie-â
you somehow managed a choked moan of his name which seems to please him enough. âj-johnny!â
"hah- hah- hah-" his panting is ragged, tongue lolling out between sharp teeth, drool slipping past his lips, dripping onto your back. his claws dig into your hips, dragging you back onto his cock with every thrust.
you're reduced to a mess of slick and sweat and open-mouthed moans. your vision swims, breath stuttering, drool slipping past your own lips. your cunt grips him tight, sucking him in, slick coating his cock, dripping down his balls, wetting the base of his knot as it starts to swell.
"pretty..." johnny fucking giggles. itâs breathy, boyish, downright giddy as he snakes a hand down between your legs, fingertips dragging through the sticky mess between your thighs, rubbing over your swollen, aching clit.
"pretty clit⊠so soft... sâcute like this, all swollen fâme..."
he snickers to himself, his other hand coming up to your lower belly, pressing down, feeling the bulge his cock makes inside you. his hips snap forward hard, pressing down at the same time, making you feel every inch of him.
"fuck-" he whimpers, laughter breaking into a moan, tail flicking wildly behind him. "y'feel that? sâme, bonnie- deep inside- fuck, sâgood-â
your orgasm crashes over you like a tidal wave, your body locking up, cunt milking him as you shake. your mind goes hazy, all-consuming pleasure buzzing through your nerves, and you barely register the way his rhythm faltersâ
until he gasps, breath catching, his whole body trembling, hips stuttering against you.
but he doesnât push his knot in.
his cock throbs, leaking, twitching inside you, but his knotâ still swollen, thick and pulsing at your entranceâ doesnât breach. he was too caught up, too lost in you, and now.
well, now itâs too late.
"fuck- fuck, bonnie, âm sorry-" his voice is frantic, hands shaking where they grip your hips. "i was sâposed tâ knot you, i- fuck, i know it hurts-â
and it does.
the ache of being left open, empty where you should be full, the throb of your walls still pulsing around nothing.
johnny knows.
he knows it hurts to push his knot in if youâre not distracted by your orgasm. he also knows the second the high fades itâs going to leave you aching, needy, sensitive in a way that burns.
"i got you, bonnie-" he murmurs, voice soft, affectionate even as he drives into you again, already chasing another orgasm from you. "gonna make it up tâyou, promise-"
he grabs your hips, yanking you back onto his cock, fucking you harder, faster, desperate to fix it, desperate to make sure you donât feel the pain.
his fingers find your clit again, rubbing quick, his touch clumsy, eager. âfuck- âm sorry, sâgonna feel so good, swear it-"
and heâs right.
your body canât fight him, canât deny him, the overstimulation pushing you right back up that peak, another orgasm slamming into you not even a minute later.
your walls clamp down around him, milking him, and he chokes on a moan, his whole body tensing. "fuck, fuck, thatâs it- thass it, bonnie-"
his knot swells, stretching you wide, pushing in finally, locking him deep inside youâ
and then he comes.
he fills you, cock pulsing, spurts of cum pouring into you, stuffing you full. his hips twitches, grinding against you, voice breaking on your name.
johnny's arms wrap around you, hugging you tight, chest pressed to your back. "s-sorry," he breathes, still panting, nuzzling against your shoulder. "sânever gonna happen again, promise-â
oh but it does. it happens multiple times, in fact.
you donât know how long itâs been. you lost count after his fifth load. time has lost all meaning, swallowed up by the relentless rhythm of johnnyâs rut.
heâs insatiable. a desperate, panting mess, rutting into you over and over, knotting you again and again, rolling his hips even when heâs still locked inside you, grinding his over-sensitive cock against your walls like he canât stop.
his hands wonât let go of you, always grabbing, always holdingâ your hips, your waist, your thighs, your wrists. pulling you back onto him, keeping you flush against his sweat-slicked body.
johnny's all heat, burning up against you, whining your name in between frantic, slurred murmurs of "so good, so good, my bonnie, mine-"
but eventuallyâ finallyâ the first wave of his rut starts to fade.
he slows. his thrusts lose their urgency, grip loosening, breath evening out, the feverish need in his eyes softening into something dazed, exhausted.
you take your chance.
"johnny-" you murmur, shifting slightly beneath him. "you need to drink some water, love."
he doesn't seem to really hear you, nuzzling into your neck. "mmm⊠laterâŠ"
"no, now," you insist, stroking a hand through his sweat-damp hair. "youâve- we've been going for hours- we need to hydrate, okay?"
he grumbles, but when you finally manage to untangle yourself from his grasp and sit up, he whines, reaching for you again, ears flattening against his head.
"no- bonnie- come back-"
"drink first," you say, grabbing the water bottle from your nightstand and holding it out to him after you've had your own fill. "then Iâll cuddle you."
he pouts but takes the bottle, chugging down greedy gulps, tail flicking sluggishly behind him.
you press a granola bar into his hand next, watching as he blinks at it, then at you, before finally taking a bite.
he chews slowly, brows furrowing like heâs thinking about something, the fog in his brain is clearing just enough for rational thought.
and thatâs when you pick up his phone from the mess of clothes, phoning his emergency number.
a guy nicknamed đ».
you hesitate, fingers hovering over the call button.
johnny tilts his head at you, ears twitching. "whatcha doinâ, bonnie?"
"calling your emergency contact," you say, glancing at him. "someone needs to know youâre in rut."
johnny groans, flopping back against the pillows, rubbing a hand down his face. "oh, fuck me-"
"i did," you deadpan. "for hours."
he snorts, but his face is already going pink. "fuckinâ hell⊠heâs never gonna let me live this downâŠ"
you press the call button. the phone barely rings twice before a gruff, sleep-roughened voice answers. "this better be important, mactavish.â
"uh- hi," you say, gripping the phone tighter. "this isnât johnny, but i feel like i needed to call his emergency contact so..â
thereâs a pause. a sharp inhale. thenâ "âŠwhat happened."
you glance over at johnny, whoâs sprawled out on the bed, still naked, still flushed, body twitching with the last remnants of his latest orgasm. his tail flicks, ears pinned back, eyes half-lidded and dazed.
"heâs in rut," you explain. "we- uh- handled it. but heâs still got waves coming, and i donât think i can keep up with him forever."
"fuck," the guy mutters. thereâs some shuffling on his end, the sound of movement, a door creaking open. "how longâs he been at it?"
you hesitate, looking at the clock. "uh⊠at least five to six hours?"
"jesus fucking christ." more rustling. "iâll drop some suppressants off. you got any blockers up?"
"yeah, doors are locked, everythingâs secure," you say. "no one else has caught onto his scent. hopefully."
"good. last thing we need is someone else getting ideas."
you nod, happy you're both on the same page.
"iâll be there in twenty," he continues. "keep him calm, get some fluids in him, and donât let him knot you again unless you wanna be stuck for another hour."
you open your mouth to answer, but before you can, johnny groans, rolling onto his side, tail swishing, his voice petulant.
"is that ghost?"
"is that his name? i mean, i guess so-"
"tell him heâs a fuckinâ cockblock," johnny whines, pouting up at you. "cannae believe this- rut suppressants? really? yer ruining all my fun, mate."
"oh, fuck off," ghost deadpans. "youâll thank me when youâre not dead from dehydration and a broken dick."
johnny grumbles, burying his face into your thigh, huffing dramatically. "donât wanna suppressants. wanna keep fuckinâ my bonnie-â
ghost sighs, long and heavy. "jesus christ. twenty minutes."
the line goes dead.

Tip Cat
Tip-Cat Being Played. Sources: A Little Pretty Pocket-Book/ Wikipedia
On this day the Newcastle Wakes in Staffordshire took place. This was a popular fair which included foot races, cake sales, face-pulling through a horse collar (a prize going to the ugliest face pulled) and its favourite game, Tip Cat. Under this rounders/baseball antecedent, a length of wood was set up like a see-saw, with a of wooden ball, known as the Cat, balanced at one end. The other end of the balanced plank was then struck with a bat with the aim of sending the wooden object high in the air. The winners were the batsman who sent the Cat furthest, and the outfield players who most correctly guessed the distance the object travelled. Tip Cat has more recently been revived but is unlikely to replace cricket any time soon.
Today was also the date of the Wilton Great Fair whose highlight was a public brawl between the Salisbury Plain shepherds who beat each other up with crooks, cudgels and fists until only one fighter was left standing and received the accolade King of the Shepherds. This pointless exercise in male violence eventually led to Wilton Fair being suppressed in the nineteenth century. Its modern equivalent markets itself as a family day out with hooliganism most definitely not encouraged.

Washed up and ready for tumblr

sadly, i'm in a bit of an artblock/burnout so i'm kinda procrastinating on some projects by doing other stuff like this eefo character design... sigh
[pls reblog, don't like]
âŹïž my choices explained under the cut
INTRO
i'll start by saying that this character design was brought to life with my kinda limited knowledge of etho and my absolute passion for heavily redesigning characters and giving them my own twist.
THE MASK AND THE MASK's MASK
the first image that came to my mind was his mask. i knew i wanted something to cover almost all his face and for it to be wolf inspired. i still wanted it to reference his skin in some way though, so i added the little metallic plate and the black forehead ribbon as the way the mask holds up.
underneath his main mask i put another simpler black mask that mainly serves 3 purposes: it makes the wolf mask more comfortable to wear without too much metal to skin contact, it mantains the face covered in case the other falls off and... guys i remember i saw a clip of hermits asking him to take off the overlay of his skin to see his face but there was a second mask underneath. i don't make the rules.
CONCEAL DON'T FEEL
after that i slowly worked up a little bit of context in my head while i was adding more details and making my choices. so what i did was making a collage of the infos i collected over time about him and his character and sprinkle a little bit of kakashiki (-cit tango) visual elements.
as we all know etho is a brilliant redstoner and a guy who really cares about privacy. put that together and you get the lore i made up for him:
with his advanced irl tech knowledge, he found a way to transfer his soul in minecraft, kinda like SAO works, and has to conceal his appearance to not get caught. here comes the layered clothes, the enormous coat and ofc the masks. due to all of this i also headcanon him preferring to live in the colder biomes, and this ties back also to the fact that he's from canada ykyk.
AWOO BUT NOT TOO MUCH
i really like wolfie etho designs i saw going around but i didn't want to design another ren with a different palette (my ren is a anthro german shepherd) so i channeled the wolf energy in the mask, the thick fur of the coat that ends with a tail (inspired by marcille dungeon lord outfit, a few notice but her dress has a tail) and in his hair, also kinda looking like a tail.
TYPE: VIBES
the eye of the wolf mask being red and scarred (for life) is of course inspired by his kakashi skin. i sprinkled red tassels here and there to fill in the spots and mainly cause i personally love tassels and wanted to add some red accents for redstone.
his kinda slouchy posture is totally for vibes, etho comes across to me as this kinda lazy/chill guy that channels the energies he has into thinking about the redstone he gotta do and calls it a day. i tried to channel that also in the kinda generic plain clothes.
for the vibes i wanted to put him in crocs/flip flops too but i couldn't otherwise he would absolutely freeze. i had to give him some warm boots or whatevs *sigh*
i tried to make his single visible eye as cute and puppy-looking as possible 'cause c'mon he a cutie pie okay? for the mole near the eye, guys i literally can't recall where i got this piece of info and if it's even remotely true but, i read/heard somewhere he has a bunch of moles on his face irl??? idk idk this is so random, i'm sorry.
SO YEAH
this is the end of my long long explanation for this character design. i hope you like it and if you don't, i know my bestie likes it (he's a bit of an ethogirlie lol luv ya bestie <3)
the end, thanks a lot for reading!

Entry 1 - The One About That Weird Ass Cressida Post
This is my first blog entry and, before you start reading, let me just drop in this little disclaimer:Â
You will find that I bounce between fact and speculation with a mix of sarcasm and [I hope] level-headedness, common sense, and deductive reasoning.
I am a Lukola. Plain and simple. You will not change my mind. Itâs an all or nothing thing for me. How I got here, Iâm not exactly sure â wait, no I do know how I got here (thank you Nicola and Luke for being so fucking charming).
Of course, I knew what Bridgerton was before I joined the Lukola fandom. In fact, I watched both Seasons 1 and 2, and they were okay. Yes, just okay.
I knew that Season 3 was about Penelope â the only character I found remotely interesting â so when I saw an article on Peopleâs page showing Nicola and her costar holdings hands, I admit I was intrigued.
Were they dating?
Letâs ask Mr. Google and find out.
No, apparently, they were not.
Okay, fine.
I then made the mistake of clicking on a video of Nicola and Luke being interviewed in Australia. And, motherfuck, they were like lightning in a bottle! Luke â being asked if he believed in friends to lovers â responded in a way that left me feeling a bit blindsided. My immediate thought was: âHe fell in love with Nicola the moment he met her.â Itâs funny how many people Iâve spoken to since who had an identical reaction and, to be honest, Lukeâs response wonât make your heart flutter. But, it was something in the way he said it.
Now, let me explain my feelings about love at first sight. Actually, Nicola explained it best when she said lust at first sight is often mistaken for love at first sight. This, I agree with wholeheartedly. To me, love at first sight does not have to be lusty. It can be, sure, but it can also be something entirely different. Maybe itâs a fleeting feeling of recognizing someone in a way you cannot possibly articulate out loud. Maybe itâs a palpitation of your heartbeat. Maybe it feels like home. Regardless, when you experience it, youâll know it.
That, my friends, is how I got here, and why I [sometimes begrudgingly] stay here â walking alongside this rather long, winding, and often pothole-filled road waiting for two people to admit to the general public â whether it be in a blatant or subtle manner â that they are, in fact, together.
Iâve noticed in this fandom we seem to have three types of people. We have the Sincerely Ignorant, the Conscientiously Stupid, and the Fact Finders.
The Sincerely Ignorant are those that are easily persuaded. They are like sheep following their shepherd. In fact, the Sincerely Ignorant are the most dangerous as they tend to spiral hard and fast â and often without reason.
Next, we have the Conscientiously Stupid. These are the shippers that choose to live in error because it fits their narrative. We are all a bit Conscientiously Stupid but there are those that push an idea so hard that they omit certain truths from their storyboard. The danger here is obvious and their victims always include the Sincerely Ignorant.
Lastly, we have the Fact Finders. The people who track information â key players, side characters, dates, places, statements, etc. These are the people who often find themselves pulling the Sincerely Ignorant out of the water when they spiral, usually due to narratives being pushed by the Conscientiously Stupid.
I am a Fact Finder. Am I perfect? Fuck no, but I do find it fun to collect and analyze information and share it with my fellow Fact Finders. Plus, collecting data helps me maintain some indifference towards the USS Lukola because, letâs face it, this god-damned ship has been blasted by quite a few cannonballs at this point. Some days, Iâm surprised weâre still afloat.
Letâs start with Cannonball No. 1. Pap-fucking-smear. June 12/13, 2024. What a fucking shit show. Who shows up to the London premiere? Antonia, Lukeâs â I honestly donât even know what word to use here because I have a lot of different thoughts but out of [a small amount of] respect I will call her â âgirl friendâ [yes, that space was intentional]. We all know the story, Luke was papped outside his hotel with Antonia on premiere night and he was pegged an overnight dumpster fire.
And, oh my God, the Sincerely Ignorant and Conscientiously Stupid ran with it. I mean, they practically became wild dogs chasing down a fox under the command of Nicola the Huntsman. However, Nicola, almost immediately, came to Lukeâs rescue by posting an âin support ofâ style story to her IG. Iâm not saying Nicola wasnât affected by this mishap. At the very least, the post-premiere PR efforts were dumped squarely on her tiny shoulders. At the worst, sheâd had her heart broken.
I never liked the Papsmear pictures. Not because I disliked what they depicted but because there was something âoffâ about them. Luke didnât look like a man happy to be out with his lady friend. He looked like a man who had been hoodwinked and whether that was because he knew heâd just made a major PR misstep or because he knew the narrative that would follow was false doesnât really matter because itâs all speculative. But, what makes me believe it was the latter is what Luke did next.
On June 15, Luke put a story on his IG promoting Season 3. That isnât all that interesting but the scene it depicted made me do a double take.
Could it be?
NoâŠno wayâŠ
ButâŠit was.
It was the scene in Ep. 6 where Cressida entered the Mondrich Ball and Colin pulled Penelope aside and told her he wouldnât let Cressida ruin their evening.
What in the hot fuck? I mean, really, what in the hot fuck??
Did Luke really just blast out an IG story where his character tells Nicolaâs character not to let the Cressida character ruin their evening? Was CressidaâŠAntonia?
Because thatâs fucking loud.
I mean, of all the scenes over four episodes, Luke chose THAT one to promote Pt. 2?
Surely, Antonia or one of her friends or family members would have picked up on this, right? And, told Antonia.
No one is going to convince me that Luke and Antonia were in a blissful relationship after that IG story was posted. Why? Because the deductive reasoning part of my brain tells me Luke chose Nicola straight outta Pap-gate.
The Conscientiously Stupid may [rather they WILL] argue that it was just for PR. Okay, but that would mean Antonia accepted the comparison between Cressida, the Evening-Ruiner, and herself. Take a moment and put yourself in Antoniaâs shoes. Would you accept this from your partner? (P.S. If you said yes, you have bigger problems in life than following real peopleâs relationships.)Â We know Antonia accepted this role to some extent because we have evidence she attended events with Luke over the summer. So, what the fuck?
In my opinion, Lukeâs IG story is a defining moment in the Lukola narrative, but one that was overlooked in June and one that continues to be overlooked â and ignored â now.
Lukeâs character is telling Nicolaâs character he wonât let another woman ruin their evening.
Let me repeat that again for you:Â Lukeâs character is telling Nicolaâs character he wonât let another woman ruin their evening.
Now wrap your head around that.

LOA Star Wars!! With me today we have bounty hunter Shepherd!
Info under cut
heâs a bounty hunter, now one of the most sought out bounty hunters now that the Dredwake has âretired,â and is very good at what he does. Currently heâs been hired to protect and travel with the new ruler of the planet he calls home, he wonders why a Sith needs protection but heâs getting paid so he doesnât wonder too much. He has beskar vibrces and poleyns that he got from doctor cogburns.
Shepherd was separated from his parents cuz he was a Tiefling, he was thrown on some random planet to fend for himself; after a few months he was found by doctor Cogburns who at the time was a mandalorian warrior. The doctor took Shepherd to his home and raised him as his own. Shepherd didnât take in too much of the mandalorian culture but he knows the armour is important so he wears it. When he started bounty hunting it was mainly to get money and help the doctor stay a float, considering he was making less money then he was spending, but he ended up enjoying helping people! He especially like when he got to see the looks on kids faces when he would jump in at the last moment
Pedro pascal looking ass!! >:[ïżŒ

â§ă»| three cats in a trench coat â wriothesley
â wriothesley doesn't look like someone who'd own a kitten, much less three of them... so how did he even turn into a cat dad? let's just say, not everyone succeeds at fostering.
content warnings: reader referred to as [y/n]; wriothesley is so soft for the kittens I swear; all fluff no angst (but what's new with that here lmao)
[note.] â yes, it's wriothesley content central recently. got this idea because my kitty girl loves cuddles. let's benefit all.
If Wriothesley had ever asked around, people say he doesnât look like a cat person. A dog, more specifically a large dog â be it a german shepherd or a dobermannâd suit him best. Itâs something about his energy, theyâd said.Â
Considering everything, itâs not like heâd ever given the choice of owning an animal much thought. Itâs all just small talk at mandatory office meetings, especially the moment you join the team. Becoming a pet owner was something more than just feeding and walking them. In his eyes, theyâre more like family â children in this case. Thereâd need to be a lot of preparations made before even deciding on one⊠and the verbal agreement of his long-time partner.Â
So how does Wriothesley come into caring for a litter of tiny fluffs?Â
The transition between winter and spring is arguably one of Wriothesleyâs unfavored ones. Itâs raining far too often, thereâs still some remains of mud mixed with snow all over the roads, and worst of all, his car, like clockwork, always needs repairs the second the season comes to an end. And, as it turns out, this time itâs pretty severe. The repair shop kept his vehicle for almost two weeks, unable to fix the issue. Sure, he could just drive his motorbike to work, yet at the same time he doesnât feel comfortable. âWorks against appearancesâ he overheard once. Itâs not like Wriothesley cares about having one, but itâs better to appear approachable than not.
And thus, heâs stuck. Forced to have a walk in the middle of one of the most severe rainfalls since the start of the year. With the umbrella he was graciously reminded of by his partner â praise their magnificence for remembering â heâll manage. Armed with his earphones blasting the worldâs finest jazz, nothing is holding him back from making it home dry.Â
Itâs when heâs right next to your apartment complex, that everything goes sideways. His right earphone just died, ruining the nice ambience, and the rain began pouring even harder. He could use a steaming cup of tea, the second heâs back. Thatâll cure all his problems. And then, a tiny sound enters his plain of thought.Â
Wriothesley takes a look around, trying to find the source of whatever just squeaked. Heâs sure heâs not tired enough to hallucinate noises, nor does he consider himself insane enough to justify those appearing randomly. Sure enough, his eyes wander over to a cardboard box. One that wasnât there when he was leaving for work that morning.Â
âLetâs seeâŠâ He murmurs, going over to check. The paper is all soaked, disintegrating into space as it continues raining. Crouching, heâs met with a pair of eyes â no, no, make it three â staring right back at him. A tiny bundle of kittens letting out equally small meows as they huddle for warmth. Thereâs no sign of either their mother or another person for that matter, coming back for them. Not to mention, how thereâs nothing for these little guys to eat. âKittens, huh,âÂ
Well, the choice is pretty obvious. Wriothesley gently picks the kitties up, unzipping a part of his jacket to give them any source of heat. He flinches, startled from their icy paws making their rounds at feeling his neck. Holding them the best he can, he begins the trek back to the apartment. Common sense is telling him his partner wonât be happy with this arrangement⊠But the little rascals sliding around and nuzzling into his chest, yes nuzzling can you believe it, are making him put aside his rationality to the side. He has been chosen. He now has a duty to these little guys.Â
âIâm back,â Wriothesley announces the second he enters through the front door. The kittens are still holding onto him, their paws no longer cold. As much as exhausting the journey upstairs was, the man was now before the second⊠and the biggest hurdle of them all. You.Â
âHi, love,â You shout back, rummaging in the kitchen. The kettle is on â boiling water for Wriothesleyâs after-work tea. After some work and quite a lot of boxes ending up on the floor, you manage to find the perfect one for tonightâs evening.Â
Thereâs a shift in your expression the second you look at him. Eyebrows furrowed, nose scrunched⊠Oh, something seems out of place with your partner. And youâre determined to figure out what it is. âDid you bulk up?â You ask, looking Wriothesley up and down.Â
âAh, so thatâs the route youâve decided to takeâ â He thinks. Well, he can keep up with the sudden âbulkinessâ of his chest. Not to mention how itâs an ego boost. âSure did, buttercup. Whaddya think? â
Oh damn. Perhaps Wriothesleyâs just made a mistake. Inviting you to examine his chest⊠still in his coat, mind you, was the last thing he wanted to do. Well, heâs too deep in it now. Youâre already on your way. No point in avoiding the consequences now.Â
âLemme see, lemme seeââ You mutter, trying to pull him into a hug. ââmmrrp.â You freeze. Take a step back. Look at Wriothesleyâs face, then at his chest. A few times. âThe hell?âÂ
Wriothesleyâs equally stunned. Of all times for one of the kiddos to meow, it was now?! âSorry,â He snorts. âHavenât had anything to eat.âÂ
âOh shut up,â You freeze him with the way you look at him. âYour stomach most definitely does not meow.â A sigh escapes you. How to proceed with this mess, huh. âWriothesley, did you get a cat?â You ask, finally.Â
âWellâŠâ Thereâs a pause. An unsure one, as he takes off his coat. âNot oneâŠâ He adds, unveiling the tiny kittens. âBut three.âÂ
Youâre stunned beyond repair. Youâve kept staring at four pairs of eyes looking back at you for a good five minutes. Where did Wriothesley get the cats from⊠Did he look at your apartment? Itâs most definitely not catâ kitten approved!
âWe cannot keep the catsâŠâ You say, gently taking them one by one. The second their tiny paws touch your floors theyâre off exploring the house. You take a look at Wriothesley â his eyes are filled with sadness. And guilt. âWriothesley, have you seen our apartment?!âÂ
âWe can baby-proof the apartment.â He retaliates, wandering behind the fluffy brigade. âCome on, [Y/N], look at him.â Wriothesley picks one of the kittens and puts it right in your face. âLook at him and tell him he should be back outside, freezing in the rain.âÂ
The little cat is flailing its little paws around, catching onto your finger as you gently take it⊠to examine it further. âFine.â You say, sighing. âWe can foster the kittens. For now.âÂ
And thus, you have turned into certified cat foster parents. âFor now.âÂ
Step one to owning any animal is to prepare a safe environment for them to live in. For cats itâs fairly simple â something comfy for sleep, food bowls and water and some toys. Depending on the cat, the latter can be something as simple as a paper ball⊠or shoelaces.Â
âCâmon, let go, kiddo.â Wriothesley giggles, trying to unclasp one of the kittens from swatting at his shoes. Once heâs scooped one away, another one comes swinging in trying to bite the aglets off.Â
âWrio, you ready yet?â Your voice gets louder as you descend from the second floor of your flat. Armed with the most enormous tote bag you own, youâre ready for the battle, that is the shopping spree for cat stuff. Hell, youâve even got your comfiest shoes on. All precautions taken so you wonât want to claw your eyes out by the end of the day. At the top of your shopping list is a bold âcable coversâ written out. Just in case the kittens make their way into your office.Â
âSorry, LoveâŠâ Wriothesley scratches the back of his head as youâre faced with the situation at hand. Heâs absolutely swarmed and enamoured with the tiny fluffs barely the size of his palm. âThe kids have me all surrounded.âÂ
You donât even sigh in disappointment. You simply take the kittens one by one, placing them out of reach. If you werenât sure the kittens would never succeed in being fostered, you sure were now.Â
With the shoelace incident taken care of, the two of you can finally go out. Letâs just hope you wonât forget about anything in the meantime.Â
The animal store is filled to the brim with the necessary goods. Although the pent-up smell of the dry food makes your head spin, the way Wriothesleyâs totally focused on picking out the things makes your heart swell with pride. As far as you remember, back when you first started living together⊠many, many years after being a couple, youâve never really discussed owning pets. You were in the middle of finishing your university degree and he was far too swamped with work to find the time to care for another being in the household.Â
Nowadays youâre also blessed with a stable job. One that allows you to fully work from home. Your shared apartment doesnât have any laws against owning pets, too⊠Maybe the kittens were a blessing in disguise? The universe telling you, that yes, the time for expanding your family was now. No, no, no. You were supposed to just foster the kittens. You were supposed to be the rational one upholding the decision.Â
ââyou okay?â Wriothesleyâs voice finally gets through as he flicks you across the forehead. âBabe, youâve been staring at the cat food for ages.â You look around, trying to jog your memory of what you were supposed to be doing. Right⊠Youâre at the store, picking up supplies for the kittens.Â
âY-yeah,â You stammer out. Your fingers brush against your heated cheek as you go over the mental list of supplies you were supposed to buy. âDo we have everything?âÂ
âSure do. Bowls, some food, litter and litter boxes⊠Oh- I asked a shopping assistant if weâre supposed to give the kiddos milk, you know, given how tiny they are. They said itâs up to 8 weeks.â Wriothesleyâs rambling at this point. He does mention the need to schedule a visit with a veterinarian â to figure out the actual age of the babies. And all the shots they should get as they age.Â
Youâre in awe. Not to be mean, but you didnât think Wriothesley would put in so much work to educate himself on how to care for the cats. âSounds good,â You reply. âWhatâs next?âÂ
âCable covers?â Wriothesley tilts his head slightly. âI remember you saying something about ensuring your office escapes bites-free.âÂ
âOh, thatâs right. Thanks for reminding me!â Â
âWhy are you walking around with a toothbrush?âŠâ You ask, questioning if what youâve seen is even real. Due to the kittens zooming around for most of the night, you barely feel conscious. Your walls look a little blurry and youâre certain you have a migraine. Are you even sure the Wriothesley youâre talking to isnât a hallucination?Â
âIâve read on the internet that it reminds the boys of their mothers.â Wriothesley damps the brush and hides for one of the cats to follow him. Sure enough, the bravest one pounces at your partner â getting scooped instead. Despite being multiple weeks after the visit at the vet, learning that only two of the kittens are male, Wriothesley insists on calling them your boys.Â
The sudden purring catches both of you off guard. Wrioâs still gently grazing the kittenâs fur with the brush and rubbing the chin with his free finger. âThatâs so cute, holy shit,â He whispers, his eyes going from the kitten to you. And vice versa. â[Y/N], tell me itâs the cutest shit youâve ever seen in your life.âÂ
âYouâve gotten far too attached to them.â You sigh, coming right up to him, just to witness the thing up close. âOh shush, you. Iâm just doing my duty as a loving father.â Yeah. You most likely wonât successfully foster these guys.Â
Honestly, you shouldâve committed to these thoughts earlier. Maybe it was how Wriothesley insisted on bottle-feeding the kittens himself. Maybe it was how excited he was to show pictures of the cats at work â retelling all the compliments theyâd gotten the second he got back home⊠Or how he couldnât take his eyes off them as they ran after tiny balls of yarn youâve gotten them.Â
To be honest, you havenât been immune to the kittens either. It brightened your day so much to have them run around your office as youâve worked. Well, it was quite enraging as they laid across your keyboard, actively forcing you to take a break, but how could you get mad when they purred happily spread out in your lap.Â
ââmrrp, mrrrrrpâ An annoying purr is what wakes you up. Good morning, the cat alarm is working right as it should. âCome on, baby,â You let out an âoofâ when the cat flops onto your chest. âGive me like twenty more minutes, alright?âÂ
Itâs been almost half a year. The kittens can no longer be considered those â no matter how much Wriothesley insists on calling them that. The apartment has long been turned into a cat sanctuary dedicated to the three rascals who have been running your life. And speaking of the man himself? Still as dedicated to taking care of your childrenâŠÂ
Only Wriothesley can be so cute as he pouts when you scold him. For what exactly? Well, undermining your authority in the household. Because, no Wrio, you cannot give the cats snacks after youâve yelled at the cats for getting stuck behind the wardrobe.Â
Hey, at the very least the children love you equally. Maybe.

whatchya got, boy?
note: requested by @wetsocksinbed :D this fic came to me in a prophetic vision as soon as i read that ask, all i have to say is i was cackling maniacally while writing it. bon apetit.
pairing: john 'soap's mactavish x gn!reader
wc: 4.4k
summary: soap is scared of dogs, you're a k9 handler. your dog is good at finding bodies, he doesn't ever want him to have to find yours.
warnings: angst with a happy ending, canon-typical violence
ao3

soap has never liked dogs.
when people ask him why, he tells them that it's just how he is. he wasn't bitten by one, it's not a trauma response, he just doesn't like them, plain and simple. being in the military and having a phobia of dogs is like painting a giant red target on his forehead, so in the interest of not getting relentlessly made fun of, he keeps it to himself.
until recently, it hasn't been a problem.
then you came along, with your quick wit and charming smile, and he was a goner from the moment you first met.
price had given them your files, told them you and your partner are on loan to the one-four-one for the next few months while they track down a particularly slippery target. the term partner had initially disappointed soap, but then you'd both marched into the room with your heads held high, and he realised;
oh. your partner is a dog.
a german shepherd, to be precise. you're a canine handler, like the universe is playing a trick on him â he hasn't been genuinely interested in someone in god knows how long, and when he finally finds somebody, you're accompanied at all hours by one of the few things he fears.
he's about ready to give up on pursuing you before the briefing is even over, but as the others all stand and file out of the meeting room, your partner comes bounding up to him in all his fanged, furry glory and soap almost has a heart attack.
"he doesn't usually trust strangers," you told him as your dog sits at his feet and wags his tail so hard it might be at risk of dislocation. johnnyâs moments away from bolting, the fear climbing up his nerves like constricting vines.
"lucky me, eh?" he smiles at you, which was honestly more like a grimace, but somehow you're not offended by his obvious dislike of your partner. you let out a laugh, and the sound is so melodic he almost forgets about the beast waiting at his heel.
"you can pet him," you grin knowingly, and soap gets the sinking feeling you've figured him out already, "he doesn't bite â not unless i tell him to."
"cheers, but i'll passâŠ" johnny attempts to protest, in the motion of taking a step back, but you grab his hand before he can escape and drag it down to your dog's face with an amused grin.
"his name's rex." he hears you say, but the way your dog is sniffing at his hand has every muscle in his body tensing involuntarily. he's mortified that you're seeing him react like this, he already knows he'll never be able to live this down once the others find out.
when rex chuffs and starts to lick at his hand, johnny feels like his soul might leave his body. the sharp teeth so close to his skin is so unnerving, the only thing stopping him from making a run for it is your soft grip still around his wrist.
he looks to you for help, but you're watching him with a mischievous grin that sends his heart aflutter.
"see? that wasn't so bad." you chuckle, crouching down next to your dog and thankfully taking rex's attention off him. johnny breathes a quiet sigh of relief, wiping his wet hand on his trousers as he watches you fuss over the canine.
you're endearing, and johnny has to admit that seeing you coo at rex like he's a baby makes him slightly less terrifying.
"price put you up to this?" he asks, holding back a flinch when rex looks up at the sound of his voice.
"he did." you nod, standing back up and meeting his eyes again. "but rex actually does like you. guess you're just charming like that."
"well, thank god for thatâŠ" johnny grumbles, his voice dripping with sarcasm. you laugh again, and with the way his pulse quickens, he can't help but send you a cocky grin. "but what i wanna know is, do you like me?"
"hmmâŠ" you feign indecision with a poorly concealed smirk, tapping a finger on your chin before leaning closer and placing a hand on his bicep. "i may need a little more convincing."
after that, johnny can hardly keep himself away from you.Â
whenever you're next to him he's got an arm slung over your shoulder, youâre always talking â texting when youâre apart â and any free time he has is spent following you around base, not unlike rex at your heel.
you ask him if he wants to watch you when you train rex, and initially he tries to say no, because he thinks seeing rex practising attacking people might break whatever spell you've cast that makes him not hate the dog; but you drag him along anyway, and he ends up being glad that you did.
it's fascinating, watching rex sniff a shirt from your hand and track down whoever it belongs to with expert precision. it looks almost like a game to the canine, the way his tail swings back and forth the whole time as he effortlessly completes any task you give him.
he finds the dummies you hide with ease, even when they're buried under piles of boxes and clothes and various other obstacles. johnny actually finds himself respecting the dog, which is shocking since a few weeks ago he never would've been able to handle even being in the same room as one.
you give johnny the treats to feed rex, which makes him nervous all over again when the canine looks up at him with wide eyes and all his sharp teeth on display. it takes some coaxing from you, but eventually he gets comfortable enough to let rex take a treat from his hand. he may not admit it, but the only reason he even lets rex get so close is because you're there. simply your presence gives him the courage, makes him feel secure.
"when this is over," johnny begins, hand twitching under rex's tongue and looking at you with such fondness it feels like his heart is about to burst, "i'll take you out proper, treat you right."
you blink at him, surprised, but not a moment later a wide smile is taking over your face. "i look forward to it, mactavish."
the others, particularly gaz and ghost, give him hell for how infatuated he's become with you, but their teasing doesn't deter him. he likes you, and he doesn't care if everybody knows it; you like him too, and that's all he really cares about.
now, sitting in the heli on the way to what they hope will be the final location for this mission, he was almost disappointed to be done with it. you were only on loan for this mission, so once they have their target, you'd be gone. he was hoping, optimistically, that once everything was said and done he could convince you to stay with the one-four-one. he was sure he could talk price into it, and though it was selfish of him, he just wanted you to stay by his side.
you're sitting next to him in the back of the aircraft, rex between your legs with his head resting on your thigh, staring up at johnny with those big brown eyes. without even thinking, he reaches a hand out and ruffles the fur on his head, earning a nudge and an adoring smile from you when he looks over.
"he might like you better than me," you tease, scratching behind rex's ear who was yet to take his eyes off of johnny.
"don't be jealous now, bonnie." he chuckles, returning the nudge to your shoulder. "you can have 'im on weekends."
you grin again and lightly shake your head, taking rex's face in your hands and bending over to press a kiss to the top of his head. "you love me the most, right boy?"
before long, the helicopter is landing and the five of you â plus rex â are following the captain out into the forest. it's cold when they exit the heli, night vision goggles highlighting the terrain through the darkness of the night.
the silence buzzes as you all stalk through the trees. johnny pays more attention to you than he should as you walk beside him, anxiety lighting up his nerves for how this mission will go.
as according to the plan, once the manor is in sight, you all split off into teams of two; him and ghost, price and gaz, and you and rex. he trusted you to do well, like you have been doing for the last few months, but he can't help the way his shoulders tense as he watches you disappear around the corner.
the building is guarded, which was expected of course, but they only had to take down a dozen or so guards until the place was barren.
the corridors were eerily deserted, bathed in a moonlit glow as johnny crept around the manor, following closely behind ghost with both of their heads on a swivel. the radio was quiet, by design for the mission plan, but somehow this time felt different, like they wouldn't hear him if he did call out.
it's the beeping that gives it away. so faint, he almost missed it, but his senses are sharpened like a blade â and as a demolitions specialist, he knows the sound of an explosive when he hears it.
johnny carefully pushes open the door to his right, scanning the room for any movement and finding none, but when his gaze lands on the centre of the room, his pulse skips a beat.
propane canisters, fuse linking them all together, and most concerning, a timer on top blinking at him; two minutes, ticking down with a sickening green glow.
"ghost," he calls, his voice hard and serious as the anxiety builds again, "it's rigged."
ghost steps into the doorway next to him, following johnny's arm as he points to the device.
"fuck." he spits, stepping back and clicking the radio on his vest, but no sound comes out. ghost curses again, looking back to johnny with a tense expression that the sergeant mirrors. "radios aren't workin' either. let's move, c'mon."
there's no room for argument in his tone, marching back the way they came with johnny in tow.
as they emerge back out into the night, price and gaz appear from around the corner, both lifting their goggles and approaching with concern evident on their faces.
"what happened?" price's gaze darts around behind them as he speaks, as if waiting for someone to jump out and attack.
"the place is rigged, we have to go." ghost explains, already moving past them and away from the manor.
the captain nods, gesturing for johnny and gaz to follow as he tries his radio with no luck, just like ghost. the pit of anxiety lingered, getting heavier by the second.
"move it, soap." price commands, a deep frown creasing his brow.
but johnny doesn't move. "hold on, where's k-9?" he asks, a frown of his own pulling his features downwards.
"radios are down, we don't have time to look for 'em." ghost calls over to them, earning a solemn nod from the captain, who tries to move him with a hand on his shoulder.
the radios are down, you have no way of knowing the building is rigged. there's no way johnny's about to leave you on your own in the blind, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he did.
"no. i'm not leavin' without 'em." johnny growls, his face morphing into a frown as he brushes off the captain's arm and turns to go back inside.
"they might already be outside." gaz tries to reason, stepping in front of him and blocking him from the doorway. kyle's regretful gaze cuts through him, and there's the distinct feeling that everyone else has already given up on you. "we have to move, mate."
johnny scoffs. "fuck that! i can't just leave 'em!" he hisses, insulted by the very idea of leaving one of their own to fend for themselves. no, that's not how they operate, that's not how he operates.
a flash of anger shoots through him and he's about to shove past gaz, but before he can move, price is yanking him away.
"soap!" he growls, shaking him slightly as he grabs johnny's other arm. "get it together, you are not goin' back in there."
before he can argue, he's being grabbed by ghost and dragged away from the manor with him as the other two jog ahead of them into the treeline.Â
"oi!" johnny shouts, struggling in the lieutenants iron grip, but to no avail. ghost practically drags him along as he digs his heels into the dirt, writhing in an attempt to escape and go back for you.
he's desperate, he can't lose you, not before he takes you on that date, he promised, you can't die yetâ
johnny blinks, the deep, rumbling boom completely derailing his thoughts and starting a piercing ringing in his ears.
white hot fire bursts from the windows of the manor, showering the surrounding area in shards of glass and debris as the heat escapes the building in waves.Â
no.
everything seemed to stop around him. ghost stopped trying to drag him away, the trees stopped blowing in the wind, he almost stopped breathing. the world pauses as the walls of the manor are engulfed in flames.
no.
johnny rips his arm out of ghost's grip and stumbles back towards the manor, his mind floating out of his body.
"no!" johnny wails, ignoring the heat on his face and taking a shaky step over the jagged stone and glass that crunches under his boot, "no! they're stillâ" his voice breaks, "they're still in there, for fucks sake!"
"johnny!" ghost shouts, grabbing him by the strap on the back of his vest and yanking him sharply away from the blaze. "they're gone." he mutters, purposefully avoiding soap's glassy eyes.
"shut the fuck up!" he cries, thumping his fist against ghost's chest and clawing at the arm holding him back. the tears spill from his eyes hard and fast, constricting his throat and blurring his vision.
he falls to his knees with his head in his hands and ghost lets him, the debris that litters the ground sharp against his flesh, but nothing compared to the pain in his chest.
it wasn't supposed to go like this.
you were supposed to come back, and he was supposed to take you out and give you a perfect date and he'd kiss you at the end of the night and now he'd never get to do any of that becauseâ
you're gone. slipped through his fingers like sand into the ocean.
"c'mon, johnny." he hears ghost mutter, his voice distant even though he's right there, pulling him to stand by his arm. "let's regroup."
he doesn't struggle this time, shaking himself free of his lieutenant's grip and shuffling past him with his head hanging low. if there was a god, he's sure they're laughing at him by now. it all felt like some kind of cruel joke; give him hope by granting him someone to love after all these lonely years, and then rip you out of his arms before he can know the happiness you would bring him.
he and ghost don't get far before he hears the lieutenant stop in his tracks, but he doesn't care to know why, the hollow feeling in his chest won't allow him to.
"the dogâŠ" ghost utters from behind him, an air of disbelief in his monotone voice. johnny freezes, a cold dread travelling up his spine as he hears the unmistakable sound of rex's claws padding towards them.
he turns slowly on his heel, fresh tears welling up in his eyes.
your dog is standing in front of him.
"rexâŠ?" he calls softly, taking in the dust and ash and dirt and blood caked into his rich brown fur, illuminated by the fire still raging. rex barks, tilting his head like he's confused, and johnny falls to his knees again, uncaring for the way the rubble tears through his trousers and his skin. "no, no no no noâ"
rex is alone. you're not with him. he doesn't go anywhere without you, and that can only mean one thing.
the confirming thought alone shatters the dam completely.
the sobs wrack his body and johnny gathers rex into his arms, hugging him tightly to his chest, burying his face into his thick fur despite the filth that coats the both of them. he whimpers and whines in johnny's ear, and the sound only makes his heart hurt even more.
a few months ago he never would've dreamed he'd be hugging a dog, but you changed that; you'd helped him work on his fear, and even if rex was the only one he could tolerate, it was still leagues better than what he could accomplish without you.
but now youâre gone, and neither of them have you to fall back on.
johnny sinks his fingers deep into rex's fur, sniffling pathetically because he may have lost you, but your canine lost his entire world and he would never understand where you went, why you left him all alone, why you werenât coming back.
rex begins to wriggle in his arms, and soap knows he wants him to let go but he can't bring himself to. this dog is all he has left of you now; he would take care of your beloved canine, it doesn't matter if he was still terrified in the back of his mind.
after a painful few minutes, jonny regains the awareness to remember where they are and the fact that ghost is still watching him break down with the dog in his arms. with a trembling sigh, he loosens his hold on rex and pulls back, wiping a dusty hand over his eyes.
as he pushes himself to stand rex barks again, startling johnny with a jolt of panic before bounding back the way he came, away from him and ghost.
johnny frowns. "hey, don't run," he mutters, ambling after the canine as he pads backwards. every time johnny gets close, rex slips just out of reach before he can grab him.
ghost sighs, but allows him to go after the dog, keeping a watchful eye on them as they get further away.
the way he was running along and looking back to make sure johnny was following reminded him a worrying amount of how he acted in his training. the training where you would hide a dummy for him and johnny would reward him with treats when he led you to the fake body.
"no, no rex," except this time, the body wouldn't be fake. "please, boy, just come backâŠ"
rex doesn't react to his pleading, determined to lead him to what johnny knows heâs found, but desperately wants to deny anyway. he tries to stop, to turn back and never have to face the reality of you being gone, but the canine won't let him. he takes johnny's trousers between his razor teeth and growls, deep and threatening, as he tries to pull him along.
the sound makes johnny freeze, fear clawing at the back of his mind as an instinctual reaction, but he blinks hard and pushes through it. "alright, i'm comin'..."
rex lets go once heâs sure heâll follow again, trotting ahead with the occasional check behind him to make sure johnny was still there. he follows the canine past the rubble, through the treeline, and into the underbrush where the sick feeling in his throat only grows stronger.
he doesn't bother with the night vision goggles. the fire provides enough waving light for him to just about see where heâs going, and he really has no desire to see what rex is guiding him to.
johnny almost trips over him when the canine comes to an abrupt stop, his wide eyes trained on a bush to johnnyâs left.
the dread pooling in his stomach becomes suffocating.
"wh" he swallows thickly, crouching down to rex's level and placing a hand on his back, feeling his laboured breath that matches his own. "...whatchya got, boy?"
rex barks and noses at the branches of the bush, before stepping backwards a few paces and looking expectantly between johnny and the shrub.
johnny stares at the bush. no amount of training could've prepared him for the terror he feels imagining what heâll find on the other side of it. as if sensing his hesitation, rex barks again to spur him on, but it only makes his heart sink further.
his hand shakes as he reaches for the branches. there's a stutter in his heartbeat, a hitch in his breath, as he pushes them aside to revealâ
"bleedin' fuckin' jesusâ" johnny cries, jumping through the foliage to couch over your weakened form, forgetting his fear all together as he ruffles rex's fur with both hands and a breaking smile when he barks again. "oh good boy rex! good boy, fuckin' hell!"
it's you, blood and ash smeared across your skin and your chest rises and falls in shallow breaths, and johnny's just so happy you're alive he can't think to be afraid when rex snaps at his hands in a misdirected effort to protect you. he presses both hands against the slice in your abdomen, using the few medical supplies in his vest to help stop the bleeding as the tears being to well again.
"shit, stay with me, hun, i've got yeâŠ" he mumbles, putting all his weight onto your stomach. "ghost! help me!"
the rest is a blur.
they carry you to the helicopter, rex barking protectively between their legs the whole way until he can lay on guard between your legs on take off.
when they finally touch down back at base, johnny has to grab rex by the vest so the medics can carry you out, wrestling him away as he barks and whines in protest. johnny stays with the canine while you're in surgery and for the days you're asleep, making sure he's fed and allowing him to sleep in his room so he wonât be alone â despite how uncomfortable it makes him, and how little sleep he gets because of it.
it's four days until you wake up.
he's not the first to find out, but as soon as the words reach his ears heâd racing down the corridors and bursting through the infirmary doors with enough intensity to make you jump out of your skin. the sight of you sitting up and talking to price almost has his eyes watering again, but he pushes that urge down.
he approaches your bed more carefully, a wobbly smile pulling at his lips under your warm gaze. with an understanding look, price is patting him on the shoulder as he passes by and leaving the two of you alone with each other.
"aren't you a sight for sore eyes," johnny grins, taking a seat in the chair next to your bed and grasping your hand in his. a smile lifts your features as he brings your hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss there as a heat rises in his cheeks.
"i could say the same, my knight in shining armour." you reply, moving your hand to cradle the side of his head and smoothing your thumb over his brow. he revels in the contact, the tension bleeding from his muscles under your touch. "where's rex?"
"he's fine, i made sure." he reassures you, and you let out a sigh of relief at his words, visibly relaxing into the pillows holding you up. "tried sneakin' him in here, but the nurses wouldn't have it."
a laugh escapes you, the sound still managing to make his heart feel light, even all these months later. "can't imagine why," you tease, gently nudging his head as he chuckles along with you.
it feels like a weight is lifted from his shoulders, finally having you with him again. his eyes flutter shut as the relief washes over him, and a minute passes where neither of you speak, simply basking in each other's presence.
there's a scratching sound at the door that interrupts the peace and quiet, and the two of you share a knowing smile. not a moment later, the door is being pulled open just enough for rex to slip through and skid towards your bed on the linoleum floor, wagging his tail at breakneck speed.
before the door can completely close, johnny catches a glimpse of gazâs mischievous grin and groans, but he doesn't have time to yell at him before heâs out of sight and rex is distracting him by leaping onto your bed.
you wheeze as your canine braces his paws on your chest and begins his assault on your face, licking every inch of skin he can reach with a series of excited chuffs and narrowly missing johnnyâs head with his swinging tail.
"hi rex! you saved my life, didnât you boy?" you giggle, affectionately ruffling his fur and planting kisses of your own on his face. "whoâs a good boy? whoâs the best sniffer dog ever?"
johnny clears his throat, drawing your attention to him as you cuddle rex to your chest. "i donât wantâa blow my own horn here, but i saved yer life tooâŠ" he gives you that lopsided grin, a playful glint in his eyes that makes you laugh again.
"you want some pets too?" you chuckle, reaching over and dragging his head over to you by a hand on the back of his neck. "good job, johnny, youâre a good boy too." you coo, pressing your lips to his forehead and the tip of his nose as you ruffle his mohawk like rexâs fur.
the effect is immediate. his cheeks burn again with a striking red blush, and he chokes on his breath in bashful embarrassment under your ministrations. he hopes you haven't noticed his reaction, but the way your laugh bubbles up again he can tell youâve caught on.
"i think i like that more than i should, bonnie." he mutters, pressing his forehead against yours and allowing his eyes to flutter shut. you hum sweetly, your warm breath fanning over his face.
"donât short circuit on me yet, soap, you still owe me a date."

Wanda Django Maximoff, The Scarlet Witch and her web of chaos
Included in this chaos web are puppet versions of Jericho Drumm / Brother Voodoo, Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver, Magneto / Erik Max Magnus Lehnsherr, Magda Maximoff, Natalya Maximoff, Agatha Harkness, Simon Williams / Wonder Man, The Vision, Billy Kaplan / Wiccan, Tommy Shepherd / Speed, and Victor Von Doom / Doctor Doom. People who I feel are important to Wandaâs overall story and who are important in shaping Wanda as a person through her relationships and experiences with them.
+ a plain web and an almost âintroduction cardâ version lol
I really enjoy drawing Wandaâs side profile
