Not sure if you were already asked this but how did you get into Hollyoaks? Specifically Hayray? Was it through TikTok, YouTube etc? What has been your favourite moment of theirs so far?

I got into hollyoaks/hayray bc of tumblr actually! I saw a gifset of them bc one of the people i followed posted them - probably @/tylerposey or @/celebrategaylove . I actually remember vaguely older posts about them, like i remember seeing the pics of them in the folly for the pride episodes and I thought that they were on some cbbc show or something, and I remember seeing sooo many gifs of them tripping each other over when they were supposed to be teaching the year sevens football. Those ones caught my attention.

I think I must have seen a gif of their first kiss bc it was that week that I went to youtube and watched one of the playlists of all their scenes over two days and I have been insufferable about them ever since.

My favourite moments would have to be their first kiss and their first time. Both were so devastatingly sweet. And the folly pt.2 where they confessed their love.

I also love Lucas talking about Dillon in the church scene, and to John Paul, and the confrontation during pride. And when Lucas comes out to his dad. I am a sucker for angst and love confessions, clearly.

I'm actually writing a fic about Edwin and Charles fencing for fun at the office I loved to hear about the helmets so much!!!

I'm going to use some of the words he said in my fic, other are welcome too! Edwin is such a posh/ affectionate fencing fits him so well.

I want Desire and Edwin to meet so badly (Desire would so LOVE to torture them (I love my little blorbo so much he's adorable that's why I want him to suffer💗)). I like the fics where Desire helps the boys to figure things out but also speaking about canon Desire, they are a menace, a meeting with them would be so angsty. They are gods they don't really care for mortals, they would love to cause drama and angst. They would love to torture this repressed (although he is a bit more comfortable now he's still more of a stiff person in general) sad boy that has so much yearning and so much drama potential between him and his best friend.

Yucky already said he wants to bring them in season 2 I'm sooo waiting for this drama I just know it's going to be good.

Hello!! I really like your blog ^^ Do you have any headcanons about Tobias Snape and his relationship with Severus?

Yes, I have quite a few headcanons, both about him and about their relationship. Here are some:

Severus was born in 1960, so Tobias must have experienced WWII in one way or another. I imagine him coming from a working-class family that suffered the consequences of the war when his father had to go to the front. Tobias was probably still a teenager, and if they were already poor, the absence of the family’s breadwinner made them even poorer, and he would have started working at a very young age, almost as a child.

The trauma of war and having to take charge of his family so young likely shaped his personality. From an early age, he acted like an adult and accumulated a lot of anger that he didn’t know how to process because 1) men in that era were ticking time bombs, as they weren’t allowed to show their emotions, and 2) if you weren’t violent, you didn’t survive. Period.

He worked in a factory and was quite frustrated with how little he earned and the fact that he was never promoted beyond being a laborer. He started frequenting pubs after work at a young age and began drinking very early as well.

He let out his anger by getting into drunken fights.

He met Eileen Prince when he was about 35, and she was 10 or 12 years younger. She looked like a well-to-do young lady, and he was quite smooth-talking, so it wasn’t hard for him to win her over.

Eileen seemed like one of those women who appeared fragile, and Tobias liked that. It reinforced the image of the macho breadwinner and family man typical of the time, which he liked to embody. It gave him confidence because, as a nobody, it was the only thing his ego could cling to.

He didn’t care that her family wanted nothing to do with their marriage; he saw it as a kind of triumph. He had won the girl, "conquered" her, and those posh idiots who seemed to be her parents could go to hell.

All of this changed when Severus was born and Eileen told him she was actually a witch. That was the beginning of his descent into hell because his fragile masculinity, rooted in patriarchal ideals of manhood, couldn’t handle the fact that his wife was more powerful than he was. That she had powers, that she could do anything with a wave of her wand. It stripped him of the head-of-household role he had built for himself. If his wife could do anything with just a whisper, and he couldn’t get beyond being a factory laborer, then what was left of him?

He began showing hostility every time Eileen displayed any kind of magic. Over time, she repressed herself more and more until she finally stopped using it altogether. Tobias became increasingly intimidating whenever she mentioned her powers, to the point of verbally abusing her when he came home drunk. Eventually, when Severus started showing signs of being a wizard, Tobias felt so alienated from his own family that this was when the physical violence began.

Eileen didn’t dare use magic because her family had rejected her, and Tobias was all she had left. She clung to her marriage and obeyed him in everything he said. But his frustration, lack of self-esteem, and constant personal failures only worsened his temper, and he always took it out on her. He would accuse her of thinking she was better than him because she was a witch, of mocking him behind his back with Severus, and he constantly reminded her that she would have nothing without him (classic abusive behavior, nothing new under the sun).

He was always deeply frustrated with Severus because, from a young age, Severus showed a strong interest in intellectual rather than physical pursuits: books, stories. It wasn’t just because he was interested in magic and Tobias felt intimidated by something he couldn’t access. It was also because Tobias had built his self-image as a strong man through his physicality—someone who had survived a war, endured a brutal post-war period, and worked with his hands from a young age. His son lacked all those traditionally masculine qualities. Instead, he was drawn to interests Tobias didn’t even understand because he had barely finished primary school. This frustrated him immensely, so he tried to force Severus to be a "real man" from the start. But when he got nowhere, he eventually took it out on the boy. He beat him with a belt whenever he saw Severus doing "sissy" things, showing interest in the magical world, or simply failing to embody the epitome of masculinity Tobias wanted in a worthy son.

As a child, Severus was deeply afraid of his father. This fear partly fueled his interest in the Dark Arts. He fantasized about using a curse on Tobias one day to make him suffer and pay for everything he had done. It’s no coincidence that Severus was ahead of his peers; it was a form of self-defense. He would secretly read old books from his mother or ask her questions when Tobias wasn’t home. But as Severus grew older, Eileen became more emotionally distant, eventually becoming almost a ghost in the house.

As a teenager, Severus felt nothing but disgust for his father. He despised being related to someone so pathetic and simple. He threw himself into his studies because, on some unconscious level, he believed that the more he learned, the more knowledge he acquired, the farther he would be from someone as illiterate and brutish as his father, who seemed almost animalistic to him. Ending up in a house full of upper-class people was a way for him to dissociate from his own origins, adopting mannerisms and striving to set himself apart.

This infuriated Tobias even more. To him, his son not only thought he was better because he was a wizard, but now he was also attending that boarding school full of "posh prissy idiots" and coming home as an effeminate weakling, trying to sound like some upper-crust Londoner. Tobias would grab him by the neck and slam him against the wall, yelling furiously, asking if a scrawny, weak runt like him seriously thought he was better than his own father. Deep down, Severus liked provoking this reaction because he knew he had hurt Tobias's ego.

Through his Slytherin peers, Severus came to understand that Muggles were like that—violent, unpleasant, always seeking to harm wizards. And in a way, Severus believed it, because his father was like that. His father was violent, uncivilized, while the pureblood wizards he met during those years were intellectual, highly knowledgeable, elegant, and well-mannered. They were eloquent, interesting people, full of curiosity and ambition. What Severus knew of Muggles was nothing but filth, violence, resentment, and hatred. It was his father shouting, the smell of alcohol from the pubs he always went to, the factory friends who staggered home with him late at night, always filthy and barely literate. Magic was extraordinary; Muggles were dusty streets, old, soot-covered houses that looked ready to collapse, beggars in the alleys, and families who couldn’t even afford proper clothes. What his housemates said about Muggles made sense because he had lived it.

By the time Severus was 16, he almost cursed his father during one summer holiday. Tobias had gone into a rage and assaulted Eileen and then him. But Severus held back; he didn’t want to risk expulsion or losing his wand. However, he was intimidating enough to make Tobias almost wet himself in fear. After that, Tobias restrained himself; he was no longer physically violent, only verbally abusive. They barely spoke when Severus came home for the holidays. Tobias barely spoke to Eileen either.

I don’t have a clear headcanon about how Tobias died. Many people speculate that Severus killed him. I don’t think so. I don’t believe he killed his father or had him killed. I think it’s more likely that Eileen died first, shortly before or after Severus finished school. She probably died because she had neglected herself so much that her health deteriorated beyond repair. I imagine Severus stopped going to Spinner's End, and Tobias, now completely alone, spiraled out of control. Maybe he stopped going to work and was fired, and he drank himself into oblivion. Perhaps he got into a fight and took a fatal blow, or he crashed a car while drunk. I don’t know. What I imagine is that he died after Eileen and under very sordid circumstances.

Severus didn’t even bother to collect his body from the morgue.

He tells me how wrong this is, still clinging to his parents beliefs that he should be a girl, but I let him grope my pecs and kiss those silly little ideas out of his brain.

Want to get a man surgery to match mine. He's nervous before his first appointment but I praise him so much afterwards that he gets a cock bigger than my own to make me even prouder. He bares absolutely no resemblance to the petite young woman who came over just a few years ago.

Want to teach a man how to best please his own. Telling him what I others find attractive, letting him experiment on me, constantly praising him for everything he gets right. Neither of these fuckers are sexually open. They are on professional mode 24/7. Bell's romantic and sexual emotions are repressed like all of his others and Park has a decorum to maintain.

I know I didn't really finish filling out the body touch charts but I didn't really care to. I just figure that for Park touching her neck is a no-no whereas Bell probably wouldn't like his gunshot wound touched along with maybe his face.

New Red Dwarf Challenge

Day 12: Favourite Alternate Universe/Reality/Version of a Character

The “Back To Reality” despair squid hallucination-verse and the AU versions of our characters we encounter within.

Yes, I know it’s grim but it also fascinates me.  The episode is of course outstanding in every respect and I realised on a recent rewatch that it’s not actually clear when the hallucination begins - I always assumed it was just before Starbug “crashes” and the “computer game” ends and gives our Boyz an insulting score of 4% just to rub it in even further.

But for all we know, they’re already hallucinating when the episode starts; there is no indication otherwise.  Just another layer of unease added to a truly chilling episode.

It’s been pointed out by others how well paced the episode is - it doesn’t pile on the agony straight away, instead first letting our Boyz take in how different they look physically.  Cat and Rimmer are horrified.  Lister isn’t exactly delighted with his new Sebastian hair but Kryten is mildly pleased to be half-human.  Despite his Billy hair, Rimmer is initially pleased to be human again and almost more importantly, he’s not Rimmer.  

But these glimmers of hope are of course the hallucination setting them up for further shocks.  Kryten is pleased to be Jake Bullet, but Rimmer’s devastatingly accurate prediction that cybernautics is actually traffic control “and you just happen to have a rather silly macho name” brings him crashing back down to earth.  Of course that’s nothing compared to his horror when he believes he’s killed a human being in cold blood.  That’s his reason for suicide and it makes sense for the character.

As does Cat’s.  Duane Dibbley is a brilliant creation, so much so that he’s resurfaced several times both in the show and official merchandise.  He’s a lovably hopeless geek and Cat’s worst nightmare.  I laugh every time he just repeats “Duane Dibbley?” disbelievingly.

Of course this character was given added depth by the revelation (OK, retcon) in “The Promised Land” about Rodon and the other Cats leaving Cat behind for being uncool.  Whilst it doesn’t totally fit with “Waiting For God”, it does make absolute sense that Duane Dibbley would be Cat’s ultimate nightmare.  Suddenly his reasoning isn’t only shallowness but abandonment issues.  Take another look at the orange outfit with puffa jacket he wears in “TPL”.  It’s almost like Cat cosplaying Duane, poignantly suggesting that no matter how hard he tried, he didn’t manage to repress his inner Duane completely.

Talking of repression…  Rimmer not wanting to be Billy Doyle is understandable on a surface level - who wants to be a scruffy alcoholic tramp?  But the rather pat explanation Kryten offers at the end about Rimmer being outshone by “his richer, more important half-brother” doesn’t make that much sense when regular Rimmer has three more successful full brothers (as far as he knows at this stage of the show) and has always used his upbringing as an excuse for his not becoming an officer.

I’m fully aware Grant Naylor weren’t thinking along these lines but within the world of the hallucination, Billy sinking into alcoholism because he’s attracted to his half-brother and can’t handle that for obvious reasons is a logical translation of Rimmer’s subconscious attraction to Lister into the hallucination.

And it also fits for Lister if he returns that attraction.  Lister’s mild pleasure at being rich and having an expensive car is another example of the hallucination setting our characters up for even nastier shocks.  He’s already disturbed and uncomfortable in Sebastian’s fancy clothes (although I personally think Craig looks great in them, but there is no denying, they’re not what our Lister would usually wear.  I say usually because Posh Lister exists).  

Having looked into a monitor and seen the “next players” playing a completely alien version of the show we know where “Dave Lister” is apparently supposed to be a macho arsehole, the next shock for Lister is far greater.  He’s not just a posh rich git, he’s a fascist mass-murderer.

Huge kudos to guest star Lenny Von Dohlen, who chills the blood in his short appearance as a terrifying fascist cop who - wait - is terrified himself, of Lister.  Or rather, of the Voter Colonel.  This scene is amazing, absolutely hooking the viewer into this dystopian world.

But Red Dwarf is of course, ultimately a comedy.  Having pushed its shocks as far as it can, we get the revelation that the crew are hallucinating and the comic relief car chase scene.  And then just as the audience have relaxed, they realise that the crew are still in very grave danger.  

But Hattie’s Holly, in her swansong appearance, saves the day.  Yay.  If she never returns, at least she went out on a high.

Hi GT absolutely love lionheart, I just wanted to know how in your headcanon would others perceive Draco in the Lionheart universe, l think one of the rear glimpses we got to see how other individuals view him was from Ron in Chapter 71: Auld Lang Syne which was kind of heart breaking especially the part Ron says/implies that he doesn't want to be like him

So it got me thinking do others view Draco as this cold, quiet, unattached, nonchalant person, and if so then I imagine him to be the quiet and reserved member of the golden quartet.

If that's the case then the dynamic between him and Hermione would be absolutely adorable, her the firey passionate loud mouth, and him the quiet, nonchalant, dangerously competent posh boy.

I think so! I'll sometimes go back and review dialogue for group scenes, and it's striking how little Draco says. He's not at all forthcoming in a group; most of his remarks are little asides or one-on-one conversations with someone while the group keeps talking. He's not shy, by any means, but he's just not the most sociable person in the world. And like, Gryffindor knows this, and they've grown used to (even affectionate for!) him, but it's like: yeah, that's Draco. He don't say much. Except to Hermione when they're doing a plot. Maybe don't get too close to that, though.

That impression also comes out through contrast with the people he hangs out with: Hermione is Hermione, who runs the Tower like a navy battalion, and Harry/Ron are both pretty sociable, friendly dudes. You see the four of them sitting together, and odds are it's not Draco who's talking.

I will say that Ron's being harsh on Draco in Chapter 71 — understandably, since he's worried his dad's going to die, but perhaps not with the most clear-sighted idea of who Draco is or seems to be. They're discussing Draco's tendency to suppress inconvenient emotions when they arise, which is (a) what lets him function despite his bespoke childhood trauma gauntlet, but also (b) a very stark contrast with Ron, who feels things deeply and obviously, and regards losing that quality as a kind of death. I think there's also a bit of miscommunication happening between them about what Draco means when he says "like this" — Draco's saying, yeah, I've learned to repress and compartmentalize and function despite loss, and Ron is hearing, I figured out how to stop caring. Which is not the same thing. Or maybe it is! But they have very different perspectives on the subject.
