I agree with you too!! <3
I think it was mostly shame and guilt and also Xie Lian's existence is a big "fuck you" to Jun Wu's face because he wanted to prove that when body is in abyss, heart can't possibly be in paradise. Only Xie Lian did manage to achieve that as despite all his suffering, his conscience was clear and his actions were kind.
Wrt to "cry for help", I think I see it as Jun Wu wanting someone, but especially XL since he got so triggered by "Body in Abyss Heart in Paradise", to understand what he went through and validate him and show him compassion or smth. Like you said, he just needed acceptance.
You 🤝 Me (Nie Huaisang is a champ. Bro is thriving. He is gonna become the Chief Cultivator. And he brought a mastermind liar to his knees by revealing the truth of everything that had happened. He gave peace to his Da-ge and ofc he made wangxian happen. Overall, a success!🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻)
Continuing on futile revenge, that's what happened to Jun Wu as well. While Xie Lian was saved from it because annihilating Yong an and releasing the plague was not going to make it better for him, Jun Wu wasn't so... "lucky".
Jun Wu gained all sorts of materialistic success in his revenge. He became the Heavenly Emperor and got to trample over his enemies' ashes. (Which is badass from a villain pov.)
But did it heal him? Nope. He didn't "enjoy" his power, he never moved on.
Because why else would he need to release his resentment in the kiln? Why else was he obsessed with Xie Lian? Why did he try to justify his decisions by orchestrating similar situations for Xie Lian to force him to choose the same path? Why else would he constantly seek validation for more than 800 years?
Wasn't all of that a (fucked up) cry for help? Wasn't he so unstable because he had wanted to be just and kind and fair and everyone had thrown that back in his face? Hadn't he lost faith in humanity, in the concept of godhood and in other heavenly officials? Didn't he just want to be understood? To be allowed to hurt, to receive compassion, to accept his failures, and have his attempts at saving everyone acknowledged? And above all, didn't he want to be free from shame?
Isn't that why, when the state preceptor asked him, "aren't you tired?" he abandoned a fight he could have won?
Revenge gave him nothing but centuries of feeling unseen, unheard, and a bone deep exhaustion.
(Ofc that doesn't excuse his actions.)
The only one who did revenge successfully was Nie Huaisang. Huaisang was just built different. 💪🏻
He Xuan, Xue Yang, Jun Wu... Revenge didn't serve them. In fact, it brought more pain.
Not Huaisang. He won everything.
Why, though?
It's not like He Xuan and Jun Wu hadn't suffered injustices. It's not like their reasons were less valid.
So while I can't be sure, there are some differences.
In case of Jun Wu, it's like that post about the tragedy of Hamlet: "... moral outrage demands action when no action can be of any use... It's a tragedy of moral frustration. What are you going to do about past crimes which have shattered your preconceptions about the nature of life?... The punishment can never fit the crime, for it can never undo it. "
To some extent, this also applies to He Xuan because nothing will undo his past or recreate the life he originally deserved. Also, Qingxuan was in an ambiguous position wrt his suffering. He didn't cause it, but he enjoyed the benefits of ascension nonetheless. He didn't stand up against his brother but he treated He Xuan (Ming Yi) as his best friend. Did he truly deserve the pain that He Xuan inflicted on him? I don't think even He Xuan knows for sure.
For Xue Yang, it seemed more like self destructive behaviour stemming from his childhood trauma. He was ruthless and contemptuous and believed more in cruelty than kindness. He was trying to prove a point and deliberately hurt Xiao Xingchen only to learn (yet never admit) that he was wrong. Too late.
Meanwhile Nie Huaisang's revenge was not focused on undoing the past or a result of moral frustration. It was a calculated scheme to bring justice and target his brother's killer, Jin Guangyao, for his crimes. There was no ambiguity or innocence on the part of his "victim".
Although, he did put many lives in danger (Mo Xuanyu, Jin Ling, Lan juniors, etc) in the process so it's not like his revenge was completely moral. Though I wonder if a moral revenge is even possible...

I agree with the last ask. A lot of the bigger or most prolific tumblr accounts that post about FK do not care about First as more than a hanger on to Khaotung and it shows. But you can't control what people like. All you or I or anyone else can do is keep on posting about what we like and focus on that. And occasionally go elsewhere to remind ourselves that tumblr is not the entire fandom and a few people thinking that Khaotung is the one everyone is and should be watching for are not the majority.
I don't know what can be done about the rest, though. Khaotung gets the flashy roles so Khaotung will also continue to get most of the praise. It's just how it works. It's the same in a lot of places.
I completely agree! I just find it unfortunate and I was thinking about it so I decided to post abt it 😅 I will definitely continue to support both of them, both individually and together, this was just me commenting on a pattern I noticed!
I am also aware of the unfortunate reality behind getting more flashy vs more lowkey roles, and the way First always gets characters who hide their emotions and what that means for him as an actor (like you said, less flashy roles). I will just never miss an opportunity to diss the unfair acting industry, whether Thailand or anywhere else!
Thank you for this, tho! It makes me happy that others see what I do, bc it makes me feel less whiny or crazy 😂

HI, I just read your post about First not being as appreciated as or praised as much as Khaotung, and I have to say I agree and disagree at the same time.
Yes, I've noticed there are some people, especially here on tumblr, who see First as a kind of accessory to Khaotung. Once you start paying attention, you can clearly see they are here for Khaotung and use First to complete their shipping fantasies, and unfortunately, those people are very vocal. Their posts gain traction because, well, most of us are also shippers and like to engage in that type of discourse because it's fun.
BUT I think those people are the loud minority because I've also noticed otherwise that First is actually the more popular of the two, especially amongst casual bl fans (who aren't in FK fandom), it's something I've noticed everywhere but even their engagement proves it. Tbh, I was a First stan first (lol), because I watched The Shipper, and thought his performance there was mind-blowing, but then I started liking Khaotung and felt a little bad for him (I shouldn't, that's condescending, but anyway) because I noticed First was wayy more popular (and in the hispanic bl fandom is even more apparent). And as I said, in the event of a divorce I'd go with First, so I don't think I'm being biased lol.
This could very well be the case, and I'm glad you've called my attention to it! It does make me feel better! However, what I have seen personally is still that Khao is the more popular of the two. It could just be because I'm purely on Tumblr and Youtube (so everything I see is either from YT reactors or comments and Tumblr posts), but that's what I've seen 🤷‍♀️ I do think it's very odd tho, as a lot of reactors I watch are avid BL fans, however they seem to recognize Khao before recognizing First despite First being in Not Me, one of the favorite shows of tons of said reactors. Very strange 😅
I also think it's worth pointing out that the people in the industry still acknowledge First and Khao differently. Watching the way the director (I think it was the director?) talked about Khao vs First in the Eclipse special ep. weirds me out. And there are so many awards that First deserved to at least be nominated for that he wasn't. I've seen so many ppl from GMM praise Khao but not as many praise First... Again, tho, this may just be my bias throwing off my perspective, idk.
Anyways, I got kinda off-topic, but thank you very much for sharing your perspective! It makes me happy that First is so appreciated even if I don't personally see it as much! (And I would go with First in the event of a divorce as well 😉 if you couldn't tell) ((LOVE KHAO TOO THO))

How haints work. They switch places with the soul of a man. But vampires is different. Maybe the worst kind. The soul gets stuck in the body. Can't rejoin the ancestors. Oh yeah Sam named all the files and he misspelled all the names apart from Daemys because he’s not so great with spelling :) (so you can blame him lol) Obviously you can do whatever you want with the spelling 😌 I just figured I’d at least point it out :)
