Another one of my OC as a Pokemon trainer since I'm having a great time with this AU! I can hint at like, 90% of their lore or personnality without really saying anything (or at least try) as long as I find the right team, and that's a good and very fun way to work on my characters.

This guy might be one of my most recent character so I'm still playing with the concept and he'll probably end up changing quite a bit, but it's a fun design to play with. Little bit of process bellow + line up with my two others trainers (because it looks cool to see them together) :

i'm just now really realizing that pokemon introduced gender differences in gen 4 and did a bunch of tiny alterations to a bunch of guys throughout all 4 gens... and then they did absolutely nothing for any other pokemon after that point

Stryroar/Pynideri to Pyroar is essentially the equivalent of Sinischa to Sinistea

Main influence being the black panther, specifically the ones located in Ethiopia (rarely seen)

Pynideri—> Pyroar + Panideri, the Amharic (widely used language in Ethiopia) translation of panther!

Stryroar—>Pyroar + Strychnos, a poisonous plant not only located in east/south africa, but also in the amazon, certain parts of india, Madagascar, and on this pokémon!

As this Pyroar (replacement name lol) is a female, like female plants, it produces berries through its stem-like mane. These berries contain poisonous seeds filled with Strychnine, a substance now wildly used as (butter tasting!) gastric medicine as well as a pesticide to kill smaller rodent and bug-like pokémon!

Unfortunately, these pokémon are extremely endangered. Being very distrustful of humans as well as elusive creatures, they are rarely ever seen. Female Pyroar have been hunted down and killed for their berries, as there is no other way to obtain a berry from a living one—it would immediately attack and engage in relentless battle.

These pokémon have very interesting methods of hunting down prey! Females lie themselves down on an overhanging branch, such as a real panther would…

and allow their manes to fall, as though it were an ordinary tree branch pulled down by gravity! This creates the illusion of low-hanging fruit, allowing the Pyroar’s prey to pick it off its mane and eat it! The strychnine poison would then cause the pokémon to go into a sort of anaphylactic shock, giving the Pyroar an opportunity to leap down, retrieve its prey, and jump back into the treetops without ever having made a sound.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I spend most of my time with media that could easily have taken place in the RGG universe so I'm limited on Interesting Settings and Situations to Put Characters In but tonally, if I wanted to keep his background and core character traits, I think something like Fear and Hunger (specifically Termina) or Darkest Dungeon would slap.

Not that he hasn't been through enough horrors but I love the psychological/survival aspects and I'm familiar enough with the lore and workings of those settings to be able to picture Shishido in them... also I simply think physical manifestations of the psyche are epic and although Silent Hill fits the bill I just feel like historical settings would make for a more distinct Shishido...

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

He's on the Motomiya diet... loves sweets... loves meat... hates most veggies... very picky eater...

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Tsuruno bro this is not a QUESTION 😭😭😭😭😭 but I do like to think he'd hit it off with Ryuji and RGGO's Kagami... the OGs... lol...

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

LEGALLY I cannot say Yuto Tamura from Nihon Touitsu because he is in fact based on Yuto Tamura from Nihon Touitsu so I will say Guts from Berserk :) I dunno the thought crossed my mind randomly while playing and then my friend made the comparison too... so it's real to me...

I took a nap and I guess I was still thinking about the PLZA trailer from earlier, and dreamt that we got a look at Team Neo Flare (we got a look at the grunts and Mable's designs, she no longer wore a visor) and aged-up Lysandre reveal as he attacked the male player and Taunie (He looked in his late-50s or so, so the timeskip between XY and ZA was maybe about 15ish years. Greying but still somewhat red hair in the same style he had an XY. It looked like one of his hands was a robotic prosthetic. Red suit, and he was about to Mega his Pyroar, but the dream cut away before he could.)
