finding an operating system to replace windows 10 (since it’s losing support) has been a fucking nightmare. i’m not using windows 11 cause they’re doing that bullshit “we own your computer actually” thing. i tried mint cinnamon but my computer would start freezing (often to the point of needing a restart) after only like an hour of use. i tried zorinOS but it somehow made my computer even slower?? i was tempted to try reactOS because i heard it can run windows stuff but then i learned it’s been in beta for 30 years despite apparently being actively worked on? and when i looked into people who have it they were all talking about constant blue screens.
im honestly at a fucking loss man. i think what im especially frustrated about is that linux mint cinnamon improved the performance for both my and my partners’ laptops, but the second it goes on my actual desktop computer it makes everything freeze for some reason? make it make sense.

Please stop advising people to switch to Linux.
Well, *only* to Linux. Hear me out.
The average computer user isn't going to be tech-savy enough to fully understand how to use Linux after using Windows their whole life. They also might prefer to use windows so they can keep using software that's exclusive for Windows. In some cases, they literally cannot switch to Linux because their job or livelihood depends on Windows software. These people would probably be better off switching to ReactOs, an open source os that's designed to be binary-compatible with Windows. Sure, it's been in alpha for a few decades, but that's largely in part because it can't get the same amount of resources as the ever-attention getting Linux does.
And I'm not just saying "recommend ReactOs instead of Linux". To put my viewpoint plainly, it is "There needs to be enough variety in operating systems where what is do/should you use becomes an important subject of consideration." Right now that's not the case, and Windows effectively has a monopoly on most software because no one ever bothered writing software for other os'es.
For example, take PhantomOs, a Russian Object Oriented operating system that periodically saves all programs running to disc. In phantom, there are no files so much as continuous programs saved to the disc. This way, startups and shutdowns are completely invisible to programs, and they can continue running as if nothing happened. The idea of invisible interruptions to programs has a practical function for say, research stations or such that can only run a complex analysis when there's enough available power. If you're running low, just suspend the analysis until you can run it again.
Anyway, please just emphasize that there are options when you advise someone to switch operating system. Chances are they'll feel less corraled and be more receptive to the change.

So, I make all of my devices look like old windows operating systems, usually Win7 cuz I'm a big fan of Aero Glass. I've got my Win11 laptop looking like XP, My Linux Dual Boot on pink Win7, My Linux Tablet on Blue Win7, and now my Win 11 desktop on pink Win7.
Here's how I do it.
For windows 10/11 there are a few ways. WindowBlinds 11 (WB11) is a good resource for this, but it's a paid program. Which kinda sucks. If you can't afford it you can find my sympathies in a button on my neocities. In an unrelated note, there's a github user named Discriminating who does some pretty cool windows styling programs. WB11 is how I style my two windows devices. The aero glass styling is done through WindowBlinds and also Start11, another Stardock program. The style I used for that is Aero 11 (set to blush :3) For the XP system (and older if you want it) I use RetroBar to style the taskbar and OpenShell to style the start menu. The WB11 style I use is eXperience11, but there are others as well. Of course, for MSN/Windows Live Messenger I use Escargot but if you're more into AIM or Yahoo! Messenger then you can check out their companion project Nina. You'll of course have to fiddle around with settings but eventually you'll get it looking good. If you want to go crazy with customization there is also Customizer God, however I've had no success getting it to work on Windows 11.
Linux is the easiest to configure to make look retro. Specifically you want to use some kind of KDE Plasma version of Linux. I use Kubuntu. Basically all you have to do for these is dig around in the app store for themes relating to "aero" "aero glass" and "windows 7" and apply them until you're happy. I don't really have any specific suggestions for that but it's very easy to do if you install Kubuntu or any KDE Plasma Linux. Basically you can find anything and everything you need in it.
There's one other thing I've not yet been able to set up but it's on my radar for my campus computer: ReactOS. I'll make another post when I'm able to try it out but if you're curious go nuts, install it in a virtual box or on a usb or directly over your main drive. God is your oyster.
One last thing, Space Cadet Pinball still runs perfectly on Windows 11
Edit: Suggested by @tetrachromacy4 (thx~!!!) GadgetPack offers a windows 7 sidebar. It is listed as 7/8/10 compatible so it will likely work on windows 11 but I have not yet tested it.

Libido - Part 2
A/N: You wanted a sequel…I’m serving you a sequel on a platter with a side of mush! Enjoy 👻
Pairing: Tony Stark x Reader
Warning: 18+ fluff, hints of sex.
Read Part 1 here.
.
It started with a missing conference room chair.
“Where the hell is the other chair?” Steve asked, looking around the room like it had personally betrayed him.
Natasha didn’t look up from her phone. “You don’t want to know.”
Then came the mysteriously fogged-up glass in the training room. No one had even been using it, except for that one time Tony had loudly declared he was “going to do some stretching with the reader.”
And when Clint found your earring lodged between two console keys in the Quinjet cockpit?
“Okay. That’s it. They’re doing it everywhere,” he said, holding it up like it was radioactive.
“Doing what, exactly?” Tony asked innocently, walking in just in time with you behind him, both of you glowing. Literally glowing. He had that smug, post-orgasm glint in his eye, and you had your shirt on backward.
Sam nearly choked on his protein bar.
“You think we’re dumb?” Nat drawled. “You’re not even trying to hide it anymore.”
You tried. You really did. But Tony just smiled, laced his fingers with yours, and shrugged like a man with absolutely no shame.
“When the chemistry’s that good,” he said, “containment’s a myth.”
Wanda muttered something about psychic trauma.
Steve looked like he was trying to summon the Lord himself. Bruce started a new set of rules for common area usage.
.
Everyone’s already seated. Sam’s got a protein shake, Clint’s playing with a pen like it’s a weapon, Nat looks like she hasn’t slept, and Steve is, as usual, painfully upright. Tony’s chair is empty, and so is yours.
“So what are we waiting for, exactly?” Steve asks, checking his watch for the third time. “The mission debrief was scheduled for—”
The door swings open.
Tony strolls in, all cocky energy and ruffled hair, wearing a smug grin and that billion-dollar swagger. Right behind him, you walk in—barefoot, hair still damp from a very recent shower, and wearing one of Tony’s unmistakable Stark Industries t-shirts that hangs off your frame like it was pulled off the floor five minutes ago (because it was).
Silence.
Thick, awkward silence.
Clint’s pen drops.
Nat tilts her head slowly, like she’s trying to remember whether she bet money on this happening today or next week.
“Sorry we’re late,” Tony says, not sorry at all. “Traffic was a nightmare. Especially the, uh… hallway outside the gym.”
You shoot him a look.
Sam blinks. “You’re wearing his shirt.”
“What? No, I—” You glance down. Crap. “It’s just… comfortable.”
“It’s inside out,” Natasha points out.
Steve clears his throat loudly, like if he does it enough, he can erase the mental images already burning into his soul.
“We’re in a professional environment,” Steve manages. “There’s protocol. Standards. Dress codes.”
Tony spreads his hands. “Exactly, Rogers. And what better standard to set than one built on love, passion, and the occasional broom closet rendezvous?”
Wanda puts her coffee down and just quietly mutters, “I’m going to bleach my mind.”
“I told you they were doing it on the jet!” Clint hisses, jabbing a finger at Sam.
Bruce sighs and just starts jotting down new rules for the communal kitchen. Again.
“Alright, alright,” Tony says, dramatically flopping into his chair. “Let’s focus, people. The mission’s over, the city’s safe, and everyone walked away with all their limbs. I say that deserves a little celebration.”
“This is not what I meant by team bonding,” Steve mutters.
You suppress a laugh. Barely. And when Tony’s hand slides under the table and settles on your thigh?
Yeah. Everyone knows.
And no one’s getting over it anytime soon.
.
The laughter from earlier finally fades into the hum of city lights outside the glass walls. You’re curled up in one of Tony’s t-shirts again—an actual clean one this time—legs tangled with his under the sheets. He’s propped against the headboard, arc reactor casting a soft blue glow over your bare shoulder as you lie against his chest.
“So…” you say, smirking as you drag a lazy finger over his ribs. “Think we were subtle today?”
Tony scoffs. “Absolutely not. We were about as subtle as the Hulk in a glassware shop.”
You giggle, nose nudging into his collarbone.
“Steve looked like he was about to start a prayer circle,” you mumble.
“He might still,” Tony deadpans. “Pretty sure I heard him muttering something in Latin under his breath.”
“Clint owes Nat fifty bucks.”
“Fifty?” Tony raises an eyebrow. “That’s it? Our scandal’s worth way more than that.”
You hum, eyes fluttering shut for a second. “Do you think they actually care?”
He’s quiet for a beat, fingers drawing absent-minded circles on your back.
“Maybe a little,” he says finally, voice softer now. “But they’ll get over it. Eventually.”
You tilt your head up.
“You sure?”
He meets your gaze, no smirk this time. Just warmth.
“I’m a genius, babe. I built suits that can fly into space. I can definitely handle a little judgmental side-eye from Captain America.”
That earns a snort from you.
“Besides,” he adds, brushing a kiss to your forehead, “I’m not exactly in this for team approval.”
You curl tighter against him, smile tucked into his chest.
“You’re in it for the sex, aren’t you?”
“Well, yeah. That too. But mostly—” he pauses, tips your chin up to look at him, “—it’s you. I’m in it for you.”
A long beat passes before you whisper, “Sap.”
“Says the one cuddling me like a human space heater.”
“You are warm.”
“That’s love, baby. Or maybe post-orgasm endorphins.”
He kisses you again—slow, easy. You think it’s the kind that says, even if they all know, even if they all talk, it doesn’t matter.
You’re his favorite headline.
.
You’re making coffee in one of Tony’s oversized shirts—yes, another one—and trying not to burn your tongue on your mug. Hair a mess, legs bare, zero regrets.
Tony strolls in looking way too pleased with himself, robe swinging dramatically behind him, and Dum-E slowly trundles behind with a juice box because priorities.
“Mornin’, sunshine,” Tony drawls, swooping in to kiss your cheek. “How’s my favorite scandal?”
You roll your eyes. “Why do I feel like you’re about to make this worse?”
“Because I am.”
He turns on the massive flat-screen TV embedded in the kitchen wall and—of course—there it is.
BREAKING NEWS:
“MR. STARK: CAUGHT WITH HIS PANTS DOWN (AGAIN).”
Below the headline is blurry footage of yesterday’s mission debrief… and in the background, just barely visible, you in Tony’s shirt, and Tony’s hand slowly sliding out of frame under the table.
You nearly choke on your coffee.
“Tony—”
“Look at that form,” he grins, pointing. “That’s an award-winning reach if I ever saw one.”
“You are unhinged.”
“Unapologetically.”
You press your palm to your forehead. “Great. I’m dating an international headline.”
“Technically, you’re the headline.”
You raise a brow.
“Okay, fine, we’re the headline. Power couple. Love story of the decade. Scandalous and sexy.”
He pauses, grins wider.
“And to think—Steve thought I couldn’t commit.”

Ok If you two lovely, talented and hot pieces of amazing human beings don'tmind i have some questions for you and @jackofallrabbits! I'm curious How would the boys from Charm Brought It Back would react to y/n having tattoos? I'm just imagined them being enamoured about seeing the various patterns on their skin? I am myself a bug fun of Celestial themed tattoos ( Sun, Moon, stars) but also I have a little dear napping on my side. I'm just curious what would they think about them.
Also how would they reacto to Y/n changing their hair colour? Or any piercings?
I'm really hyped about the concept of characters getting to know the world and new standards around them.
Do they like music? I keep thinking about it how music is such a big part of my life, and how back in old days it wasn't so easy to have it! We have music in shops, buses, hell! We have it in our pocket all the time, from classical music to newest pop piece. And before to hear some music you had to wait for some festival or an event in a tavern you would see it as a luxury. So I wonder how would they react to Y/n showing them it on the phone. Or just Y/n swaying in the kitchen singing to the instruments
I love your Au! You both are incredibly talented and I'm feeling like you are unstoppable together haha!
Love you, have fun creating those masterpieces and thank you for sharing them with us!
YOU'RE SO SWEET! Of course, ask away!!
Tattoos would fascinate the witch boys! Sun especially enjoys art and would find Y/N just lovely with all the ink on their skin. He'd love to trace the lines of the tattoos while admiring his bride. Moon and Eclipse will kiss their tattoos and let Y/N know how pretty they are. If their bride is willing, Eclipse would like to add some tattoos of his own design of little sigils to keep them safe from harm.
Piercings are very pretty as well to the boys. Changing hair color is so fascinating to them and beautiful. They would love to see their colors on their darling love if that's the case!
Oh, the boys adore music! Sun especially since he's a dancer. He would love to sway and step to any music playing—even in a grocery store. Moon loves music more. He was always on the outside of festivals and celebrations, and the faintness of the music made him yearn for more. Now that Y/N shows him all kinds of music just from their strange little device, he can play everything he likes while he's cooking soup! His singing voice is also very lovely, and he will sing away. Moon will join in on any song that Y/N happens to be singing and he'll ask for a duet even if Y/N is terribly shy about it.

Hey i finally finished Apollo Justice :D and with it i have finally played by myself all the ace attorney games i had watched a gameplay of
Fun fact i actually came in contact with ace attorney first throught apollo justice, it was the firs AA game i watched a gameplay of
So here are my thoughts after experiencing it by myself
I liked it if im being honest, like a lot , i missed the feature of being able to present profiles to people, and also wanted more characters to reacto to me presenting the attorney's badge, also would have loved to mantain the prints dust, luminol testing for all the cases, instead of like, trying out a different tool to investigate every case, but I still enjoyed it
Im still mad about the logic of turnabout serenade and turnabout corner, wtf is that, the cases were fun but i mostly tried to ignore their logic for acussing the defendant, specially with machi tobaye
I love trucy a lot, as a character, like, she acts so childish and yet you can see that she understands almost everything happening around her far better than the majority of people around her. One of my favorite examples of this (i consider this as an example taking in consideration what we learn about her trhought the game) is on scene at the beggining of turnabout corner, when phoenix its trying to get apollo to work for him and he goes like "oh well, if you dont help, trucy wil have to change of school, again" and then trucy its like "oh no, i just had started making new friends...", like, i have a feeling trucy understood very well what phoenix was trying to achieve there and decided to act her part bc she is a performer, and I actually think that bc of that she and klavier understand each other quite well
Like he was the one acknowledged trucy the most during the trials whenever she demostrared to have a deep observation of the case, not only that but we have the fact that we know Klavier also acts as a performer, showing a smile, acting all relaxed, but then being really perfectionist.
Anyways i could go all day talking about klavier and trucy but, the post its not about them and it would have to be in spanish bc I dont think i can express everything i think about them
Then we have apollo as a new lawyer. I like him, i like his chords of steel, i like that his color is red, i like his design, i love the bond he crestes with trucy, i really want to see him develope in the same way we saw phoenix grow as a lawyer
As i said in other post a love this phoenix, he has this so morally dobious and depressed energy around him that i like so much, and his tension with kristoph its just great
I will maybe draw krisnix in the future but i cant assure anything bc it kind of feel like phoenix being a cheater
Now i finally will continue with the great ace attorney!!!
I stopped mid game bc im the kind of person who likes to leave the tasty thing to the end, and although i love apollo justice my obssesion with tgaa its bigger, and also, it has misteries i dont know anything about (mostly), and my new wife, kazuma
About spirit of justice and dual destinies... I dont think i will be plsying them in the near future, for various reasons, jut the main three are:
1. I dont have the money for that, like i was able to afford tgaa bc it was the cheapest of all the collections, and it was on discount, like yeah, no, i cant afford that, and even if i could i think that investigations would be my priority
2. Its bc im not very convinced by what i saw when i watched a gameplay of DD, mostly bc I wasnt expecting phoenix to go back so quickly to baing an attorney, like, I was watching the first case, and was like "ooh cool, we have a new lawyer along side apollo", and when athena had that kind of panic attack and phoenix appeared i was like "cool, we will have him as a co-counsel, helping athena ground herself and giving her some asistance throughout the case", but then i saw him take the lead as the defense, and have athena as co-counsel and I was left so disapointed, like this is a tutorial case, why arent we continuing it the rookie new lawyer?, so yeah, i will probably watch a gameplay of it, but Im not sure i will try to play it
3. Is that im way to used to seeing these characters of the main games in pixel art style, im fine with tgaa bc they arent characters I have met before, with them its still hard, but its easier to get used to see them in 3D, but im not ready to do that transition with, phoenix, trucy or apollo
Anyways this is my comentary of apollo justice, we will soon continue with me getting all excited over a dance of deduction

The various Star Trek big plots after DS9 tell to me something: the decision makers have no idea what to do, and the writers have to suffer to get something worthwile out of it. Don't believe me? Let me explain:
Nemesis: the entire premise is that the Romulans keep a full species as enslaved miners or attack dogs on Remus, and this goes against already present lore, that has the Remans as the Romulans that happen to have been born on Remus and developed a more "get off my lawn or I'm gonna enslave your wife and daughter, torture your son to death in front of you, bash you to death with your son's arm, and stick your next of kin with the cleaning bill of the bloodsoaked clothes" culture (not hyperbole. At their best, they took out a tyrant on Romulus and then went home, at their worst they're the reason planet Hellguard has that name), and their Space Romans theme (the Romans had their slaves and had no trouble committing acts of what we'd call genocide and enslave the survivors, but enslaving an entire people just because was not something they did). The Space Romans theme is another reason why the premise as we have it doesn't work, as if Reman troops tried to rebel the Romulans would simply call and remind them they know where their families are.
Enterprise: They had the Romulans being known as expansionists, using cloaking devices over a century before the Federation even realized they were possible (thankfully season 4 brought in a device that could be used for similar purposes but was NOT a cloaking device) and even calling themselves Romulans with a blatant reference to Roman myth (Diane Duane's novels had instead Romulus and Remus being placeholder names a human in the Federation crew that found them came up with expecting to drop them once they learned how the "Romulans" called their worlds during first contact, but Romulan paranoia started a war and by the time the Federation learned the actual names Romulus and Remus had long since entered common use. At least one Romulan got mildly offended when she learned those names were derived from twins raised by a beast similar to a thrai).
The Romulan Star Empire shattered by the loss of the Twin Worlds from a nova because the Federation didn't help: this is a Star Empire, and novas aren't sudden. If their star started turning nova, they have a fleet of warbirds to move the entire population to Romii or somewhere else and enough time to go back and move every single city (and the pride to do exactly that), preventing breakdown of government. This premise was copied from The Undiscovered Country, except that had Qo'nos made uninhabitable by a moon-shattering mining accident they had no way to anticipate, an unstable society constantly on the verge of civil war, inadequate terraforming tech to clean up the place and recolonize, and TWO hostile polities right off the border ready to take advantage and invade (in fact we're treated to Starfleet telling the president of the Federation they're ready to do just that, and the presence of the Romulan ambassador implies they'd have Romulan support), they NEEDED the Federation help both to keep Starfleet and the Romulans off their back (thus freeing the logistical capabilities to evacuate the planet) and access to their better terraforming tech. The STO writers fixed this by having a different star go nova and a weird phenomenon moving the explosion to the Twin Worlds, while the Picard writers, being told to not use the Hobus Nova, had to indicate the Romulans for some reason needed Starfleet to build them the transports (nevermind they already have the means to pull it off).
In Discovery we have a story arc in a future in which powering warp travel became impossible after all dilithium blew up... Except the Romulans not only have developed quantum singularities reactors with similar outputs to contemporary warp cores of similar size, in their debut they had a Bird of Prey traveling at respectable warp speeds powered by a FUSION REACTOR (and Enterprise gave us older model Earth cargo ships that traveled at warp with fusion power only).
The worst part is that every single one of these premises can be easily fixed with existing lore:
Nemesis: the truth about senator Vreenak's death comes out, torpedoing the improving relationship between the Federation and the Romulans. There's no war because Sisko and Garak acted on their own without orders or support, plus the Dominion was indeed planning to attack after destroying Earth... And the Remans, led by disgruntled officers such as Sela, decide the government didn't do enough to get reparations and stage a coup.
Enterprise: start out with the Romulans as a mystery. Nobody knows much aside that they have twin homeworlds that were first discovered by an explorer with a multi-species crew, they stole the warp drive from the Andorians when they came to establish first contact but are still constrained to fusion power, their ships with giant bird of preys painted on have excellent sensor counters, they are in a weird war with the Andorians over the first contact gone wrong (with many blaming Andorian aggressiveness), they hold a genocidal grudge against the Duthulhiv and Etoshans, both members of the Orion Syndicate that messed with a lot of of worlds before the Syndicate formed and reigned them in, and some think they may be a group from the Vulcan Diaspora like the Debrune but that's a minority belief due their language being clearly not derived from Common Vulcan of the Time of Awakening, clearly their use of a giant bird of prey as symbol is a coincidence. Then an Earth ship gets pushy trying to establish first contact and gets a nuke to the face, Earth demands reparations for this act of aggression, and the "Romulans" reply with a war declaration and blow up the starbase closest to their space. Thus starts the Earth-Romulan War that includes also the Andorians, the Tellarites, and later the Vulcan... Up until the names the Romulans use for themselves are translated as "Declared" and "Travellers", at which point the Vulcans realize it's THAT group from their diaspora and they're acting entirely out of paranoia, and negotiations start.
Romulan Empire shattering: building on my take on Nemesis, the Romulans went to civil war after the group in charge of the coup was revealed to be completely insane... And the survivors of that group use a sunkiller bomb on Eisn, destroying the Twin Worlds and shattering the Empire between competing groups. Nero's crew are the ones that dropped the bomb, and most Romulans don't like the Federation over Sisko's stunt (and Picard's failed attempt to negotiate a peace in the civil war being sabotaged by Starfleet command for political reasons, causing his resignation in protest).
Discovery: remember the Omega Particole? The one that all Federation ships are under standing orders to neutralize at any cost because if it explodes a whole sector can't go at warp anymore and is kept secret from anyone who doesn't need to know because they fear some jackass would either try (and fail) to harness them for energy production or outright weaponize them? Use that to block warp travel around known space. The mystery is about who did it and why, the dominant power has developed an alternative FTL, and the remnants of the Federation are trying to clean subspace up and benefit from the arrival of the ship with a spore drive. As for Ni'Var, they seceded because evidence has emerged that USS Voyager tried to harness them in the Delta Quadrant and almost succeeded before sanity prevailed and they were neutralized and many believe Starfleet tried to replicate the experiment, and when it's proven they're not responsible they rejoin... And the Federation experiments now unite to Vulcan research in the same field based on Romulan superior knowledge of gravitics and subspace to clean up everything.
