#Red vs. Blue: The Shisno Paradox

shisno paradox donut deserves the world. I wasn’t the biggest fan of these time travel seasons but holy shit he was so good. he was angry! he deserved to be way more mad than he actually was. he is so, so important to me and the way he reacts to everything. i hope he stays like this

seriously the drop at 1:30 and the build at 2:30 as it flashes to the freelancer leaderboard, where it's only carolina with the rest of the spots blank and flickering (all flickering, except for Wash's spot!) is just. it's sublime

season 16 would be one of the best seasons of the show if a huge chunk of it didn’t suck so much, if that makes any sense

because the rest is *so good*, like So Good. but to get to it you have to face the horrors

I'd still say the whole series (not counting Zero) is absolutely worth the watch, I think season 16 and 17 are very very enjoyable, albeit with some flaws especially regarding characterization but also having a show go over the course of 20 years and switching writers like 4 times at least will do that to you. They're absolutely really funny on their own merits though, and I'd still definitely recommend it, and still call them very enjoyable! Just that you have to stomach season 15 to even get there, and then have to deal with 16 and 17s flaws, which I personally was able to get past but I know not everyone is and that's cool, but I think every arc just has their own flaws, so it's a real pick your poison situation. I know some people that consider season 10 the ending, some people consider season 13 the ending, some people even consider season 5 the ending (I don't agree with that one at all but I get it, it marks the end of classic RvB.) I personally think that the Shisno paradox is worth it. That it has some great moments of growth and characterization and even some really emotional moments, and one of my favorite action sequences of the whole series, as well as quotes that, to me, stand out as jokes that feel like they were ripped right out of seasons 3-4 in the best way, just with the absurdity cranked up a bit (but yet again that's what two decades of an ongoing comedy does to you)

on a red vs blue rewatch, I rarely go back to season 1 because of the quality but a line stuck out to me that's so good

And another saga bites the dust. And with Season 14 being more of its own thing, with the same going to Zero and Restoration, it’s onto the next and FINAL saga before deciding what’s the best season of Red vs. Blue. Ever. Of all time.

I don’t think I’ve ever made myself clear about how much I adore Red vs. Blue. It started out so silly and goofy, but seasons 7-13 especially hit so hard. Even the Shisno paradox had its moments. The only season that I really didn’t like was Zero, but I think that’s a given. Tucker, Grif, and Church especially have my heart. Although, every character has their moments and they each are just so well written, for the most part. I know there’s literally millions of video essays about the character development of the reds and blues. Tucker specifically always felt the most relatable to me, either that or Church. They both have their struggles with their positions, their ideals, and their identity. Both of them fail over and over again but still find a way to make things work out in the end. Grif I think is just funny. But honestly, the scene of him deciding to stay home and quit felt so real. I honestly couldn’t blame him for it, I mean after everything the reds and blues went through, who would want to go through another death mission. Anyhow, stick around for my next rant where I either talk about RWBY or about a character from rvb.

There is a box set for seasons 1-5. (The blood gulch chronicles)

A box set for seasons 6-8. (Recollection)

A box set for (the first) 10 seasons.

9 and 10 is project freelancer saga.

A box set for seasons 11-13. (The chorus Trilogy)

Season 14 is the anthology.

The Shisno Paradox is the name of a season and the trilogy.

15-17 is the Shisno trilogy.

Season 15’s summary talks about a news reporter.

Season 16 is called The Shisno Paradox.

Season 17 is called Singularity and talks about Donut in the summary.

Season 18 is called RVB: Zero, that’s the one that doesn’t have anything to do with the rvb cast.

Season 19 hasn’t come out as of this post.

Wish I knew all this when I was buying the DVDs and stuff because I could have done a better job at buying them efficiently. Whatever man.

I’m still confused on the Shisno Paradox trilogy and I couldn’t figure out what Combo meant.

I could have saved on the Chorus trilogy if I knew there was a dvd set for before getting individual ones.

Heck there was a set for 12 + 13 that I wish I’d seen before ordering them individually.

Amazon sucks and I suck and it all sucks.

Hot take but maybe people would be less dissatisfied with Tucker’s portrayal in RvB16 if we didn’t have an episode where the plot stops so Kaikaina can list every reason that he sucks, and the show mostly agrees with her, and the fandom gif’d it to hell and back and mostly agreed with her too.

Now the idea of deconstructing Tucker’s libido-fuelled jokes is a good one, but they had to tack on the “You only care about yourself” part, which, well...
