"Look at this," Crowley murmurs, his voice hushed with awe, as he moves toward the very large antique telescope, its brass tripod gleaming faintly in the moonlight.

His fingers trace the intricate carvings of the instrument, reverent. The delicate mechanics are a testament to a bygone era of craftsmanship, a kind of devotion etched in gears and glass.

He leans forward, peering through the eyepiece, but the image is distorted—a hazy blur marred by dust and a lingering veil of mist. The lenses and mirrors are clearly in need of cleaning, possibly replacement; he notices a hairline crack in one of the lenses, further obscuring the view.

He attempts to adjust the mechanism, but it’s stubbornly fixed in place, rusted and immobile. It needs love. It needs care. It needs someone to remember what it once was.

A small, shrill sound of excitement erupts from Little Wisp. Crowley looks down at her, a tender smile touching his lips.

"You think we should fix it too, don't you?" he whispers, his gaze shifting between his daughter and the magnificent, neglected telescope.

I wonder how people keep hearing that the Jones boys have "charm". Like, they're well-educated and willing to hit you if you say mean things about their friends and family, but is that "charm"? Mechi doesn't have any social charm for sure. An argument could be made that Kwahu is mildly charming, but even then, his social skills aren't thaaaat great.

Oh well. No matter what happens, nobody gets to marry the Jones boys. If it was ever going to happen, it would have happened with XiaoLiang. Sorry, Baropos. Try someone else.

The cat distribution system works in RimWorld!! We have a beautiful new housekeeper cat now. The name that was auto-generated for him is "Macbeth", which is my favourite Shakespeare play, so we're obviously keeping it, and he might be my new favourite colonist.

Oh, damn. We'd best start child-proofing this castle and crossing our fingers that everything is going well for Jut on his journey to visit the mystical shaman...

oh this is from back in october but i redrew a few childhood characters for fun! i had over 100 paper dolls i drew with my childhood bestie that we played intricate plotlines with (mostly the drama of "oh no im a secret vampire/werewolf and my crush is a monster slayer how will this play out!!"). i lived in the countryside and could only dream of big city lights and hanging with mallgoths

HC that before Rusty Rose got roboticized (Rogue Rose?) she was actively trying to join the resistance and didn't make it there in time, instead getting snatched by the Chaos Council and turned into a robot before she could meet Rebel and Knux

I would also like to think that New Yolk Sonic (Mach?) did exist and was a good friend of hers, trying to join the resistance too. Maybe he wasn't as fast as regular Sonic but whatever the case he got caught as well. He either 1) became Chaos Sonic or 2) just. Died.

So...what do we think of the way lab rats handled Taylor's disability? Personally, I think they did a decent job narratively. They steered away from "this is a sci-fi type of show so we can just 'fix' the disability". The visor Douglas made for her basically functions like a cane would, except its more compact and on her face, but all it does is tell her when an obstacle is in front of her...like a cane would. She's still blind. That doesn't go away. Taylor goes on missions again as the hero she is, even with her disability. She's disabled and she can go on missions.

I say narratively because there were a few comments about "a newbie, a quitter and a blind girl!" and with how Leo wanted the doctors to "fix it", but as far as Leo's comments go, he mostly felt guilty about his actions altering her way of life forever, which it did.

Seriously, what do we think? I'm not physically disabled myself, but I'm taking a class where we talk about this stuff and I was reminded of this Taylor plotline recently. I've been thinking about this all day.

Béatrice steps forward, her movements slow, deliberate. She reaches out and touches the old beast for the first time in years.

Her finger grazes the telescope’s nameplate, now dulled with age and tarnished with time. The engraving, though faint, still reads: L’Héritière des étoiles.

There is a silence—long, heavy, thick with unspoken things. Emotions long buried stir, rising like ghosts in the stillness. Memories resurface uninvited, sharp as starlight.

Crowley watches as the crack in her composure slowly unwinds, revealing the soul beneath the stone. A tear slips down her cheek, then another, and he can feel the dam breaking—the flood of grief caught in her throat, held back for far too long.

He takes a cautious step closer, his hand reaching for her arm in a hesitant gesture of comfort. But he’s acutely aware of how delicate this moment is, how easily it could shatter like glass.

“Heir of the stars,” she whispers, the inscription trembling from her lips like a forgotten spell.

anyway so the super soldier serum has some pretty eugenicist undertones and considering that steve grew up chronically ill during a time where eugenicist thinking was common i think that should be examined more in fandom

shhiiiiiit thinkin about. Star Wars ocs. Near-immortal or practically immortal Jedi padawan with a master who dies before they can Knight them, refusing to let anyone else cut the braid and continuing as a padawan eternal. The braid growing longer and longer and ever more complex as they add bells for missions, silver stars for rescued younglings, intricate beads for new family and lineage members, and ties of bright thread for new lightsabers when the old ones wear out or decide to move on to another user. They become the perfect model of a Jedi, utterly unattached, flawlessly serene, drifting endlessly around the outer rim doing acts of good service - except for that damned braid. That daily reminder of the one thing they cannot, will not, let go of. Their story being that they finally grow enough, are finally molded and shaped by enough people that they accept the grief and loss and pain and move on. Maybe they ask the master of the order to cut their braid - maybe they ask whatever person finally guided them to that realization, regardless of whether they’re a Jedi. Maybe they cut it themselves. Maybe this is a clone wars era story, and the thing that finally makes them see reason is the brutal reality that nobody - not even them - has infinite time. I think they coil it up and put it inside a Holocron, or a sealed box in a hidden temple. I think Luke finds it, later. I think it ends up in his best effort at a new Jedi Archives, pinned oh so carefully in a huge spiral on a wall, tightly coiled with barely an inch between loops and still the circle is nearly eight feet across, glittering with stories. It’s a testament to what the Jedi were - their service, their glory, their dedication - and also their flaws.
