"If anything, that event should have been a wakeup call to him: that he would never be rid of her or the south or the place he came from. He would never escape the man Maria had made him into, no matter how many cars or sweaters or computers he owned. You could put a coyote with the dogs but eventually it would bite."

₊˚⊹♡ INTRODUCING... BOOKSTORE OWNER!MATT + SHEEP!READER ༄.°

— a moodboard for sheep!reader and bookstore owner!matt

꒱༘ the cutest couple on earth!! they're yapping their days away about the books they've read, all while sipping on a shared cup of coffee, legs entangled under the table. it's how they spend their time together, if not cuddled up in bed watching some underground, indie, coming-of-age movie, drinking coffee.
𓈒 ∿ ݁. they're both such losers, to be honest... and while matt is practicing his little hobby of playing guitar, softly humming along with the tune, sheep!reader is either closet to dozing off in bed next to him, or nearly latching onto him from how cute and handsome and sexy he looks (her words).
— coffee dates are a must! if they even get to do anything besides that. there's always a small corner somewhere in the city hidden where they get to sit and sip on a coffee, iced or hot depending on the weather, chai latté, or café latté depending on the mood. they're either reading their own book to switch with the other after reading, or they're reading the same book. sometimes they'll even agree on just letting the books stay where they found them, in the back of either of their bookshelf... not a hit.

Vital signs ـــــــــﮩ٨ـ
Greys anatomy AU! Doctor- Abby Anderson

Series mlist | moodboards | third Chapter (you are here)
Three: Under the Knife 🩺
summary: At St. Mary's Hospital, the rules are simple. Saving lives, avoiding attachment, and never going overboard. However, staying within those boundaries is becoming increasingly difficult under the constant gaze of the head of cardio.
You and Jesse have exchanged a few awkward glances, and while his flirty, over-the-top charm can be amusing, you’ve learned to tune it out. Ellie, on the other hand, is easier to get along with. She doesn’t beat around the bush and always knows how to make you laugh, even when the tension in the hallways is thick. Dina began to feel like a long-lost sibling, keeping you grounded with her steady presence. She’s always there with a quick quip or an eye roll when things get too stressful.
And then there’s Riley. The nurse at the front desk who always seems to have the perfect piece of advice at just the right time. She’s one of those people who can find humor in anything, even on the worst of days.
You’re clocking in for another long shift when you spot Abby a few feet away. She’s standing in the hallway, phone pressed to her ear, her back stiff, and her jaw clenched. There’s something about the way she’s holding herself like she’s on the verge of breaking, but not yet. The conversation seems heated, though you can’t make out the words.
Your mind starts to wander, a million questions running through your head. Who could she be talking to like that? You’ve seen the way she commands respect, the way the staff listens to her when she speaks. Yet there’s an air of vulnerability in her hushed tone. You shake the thoughts away as you finish clocking in, pushing the curiosity aside for now.
The weekend rolls around, and after a long week of hospital shifts, Dina finally manages to carve out some time to help you move more of your things into your new apartment. Both of you are exhausted, half-asleep, but determined to get it done.
You sit together in your living room, now free of most of the moving boxes, trying to build a bedside table out of an old box. It’s a struggle, but you manage to get it assembled after a few clumsy attempts.
“I think it’s perfect,” Dina says with a grin as she leans back against the couch, her voice muffled by a yawn.
“You know,” you say, popping up from behind the trunk of the car parked in your driveway, “I already work over 100 hours with you a week. Feels like we’re basically girlfriends now.”
Dina rolls her eyes dramatically. “If that’s your idea of a relationship, I think you’re in for a rude awakening.”
You both laugh, a comfortable silence falling between you as you continue putting things in place, marking the first steps of turning your space into something that feels like home.
Even though Utah was definitely out of your comfort zone, you were starting to not mind it too much.
Back home, everything felt like it was always moving, always too fast. The noise, the people, the traffic—it never stopped. You’d learned to live with it, but it never felt like home. Every corner you turned, every face you passed, there was a sense of urgency, a sense of not quite fitting in. Everyone, and I mean everyone, had an opinion about your future, about who you were supposed to be. You’d been running from those opinions for years, from your family’s judgment, from the constant push to be more, do more, even when you weren’t sure you had the energy left to care.
But here, now? That was miles away.
The hospital hallways hum with anticipation as the day of the decision draws nearer. Everyone has survived their brutal first shifts, but now comes the next battle: the chance to scrub in on the first surgery.
The rumors are circulating, and the tension in the air is palpable. Everyone’s vying for that one coveted spot—who will be chosen?
Jesse leans casually against the nurses’ station, arms crossed, his signature smirk playing on his lips. “Let’s be real,” he says, his voice just loud enough for everyone to hear. “I’m getting the first surgery. I’ve got it in the bag.”
Dina raises an eyebrow, leaning against the counter beside him. Coffee cup in hand. “Based on what, exactly? Your ability to sweet-talk nurses?”
Ellie snickers from the side, chiming in with, “More like his ability to trip over his own feet.”
Jesse dramatically places a hand over his chest. “Ouch. No faith in me at all?” You chuckle, but you can’t help the gnawing feeling in your stomach. The truth is, you want that surgery. Badly. And judging by the tense glances being exchanged between the other interns, so does everyone else.
Before the teasing can continue, Marlene rounds the corner, her gaze sharp. “Are you all waiting for an engraved invitation to do your damn jobs?”
Ah shit, Instantly, the group scatters, returning to the chaos. Breathers weren’t a luxury you got or earned yet. Marlene is something else—a mix of stern authority and unspoken understanding. You’ve caught her eyes a few times, and in those fleeting moments, you’ve seen something softer. She's tough, but sometimes you need tough, right?
Later, between rounds, you got turned around for the hundredth time. At one point a patient even called you out on being lost, pushing her better on the hospital with zero sense of direction. So many rooms, so many elevators, so, so many stairs…
You pressed your face into your palms for a moment to try and reboot your brain. You still had a solid seven hours left before you were going anywhere that didn’t have the smell of Lysol and hand sanitizer lingering. The ding of the elevator was always too high-pitched for your ears liking, but you’ll get over it, you thought. And as if your day couldn’t get any better, you were greeted with a familiar face, staring right back at you with her glasses pushed to the bridge of her nose, glaring down at some paper like it was her arch nemesis.
Those colored eyes and always perfectly pulled back Hair. would never go unrecognized by you. Abby, in the elevator you needed. again. those dark blue scrubs to complement said eyes.
You find yourself stuck in yet another elevator ride with her. Yeah, it’s becoming a pattern. You and the resident you oh-so-accidentally slept with. Pretending like the image of her naked body isn’t burnt in your memory.
Once you stepped into the elevator and silently sat beside her, she turned her gaze to you with the tilt of her head. “You think you’re getting the first surgery?”
You scoff, trying to play it cool. “I mean, I did manage to diagnose Katie, so I should be in the running.”
She tilts her head, an amused smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. “Mhm, Bold confidence”
You glance away, trying not to show how much her attention affects you. The silence in the elevator fell hard, charged. You can feel her watching you, the weight of her gaze almost tangible.
The doors open, and she shifts slightly closer, voice lowering to a whisper. “You never answered about the hike.”
You huff a quiet laugh, shaking your head. “You’re really pushing this team-building thing, huh?” You glanced over to her, feeling your stomach flip when her shoulder nudged yours.
Abby shrugged, eyes twinkling with mischief. “I am, You’ll come around.”
Leaving you to watch her figure retreat. You would’ve been sad about the abrupt exit if you didn’t enjoy watching her walk away. Catching her small look over her shoulder at you. She knew what she was doing, damn it.
You hated that it was working.
The next few days blur by in a haze of patient rounds and assignments. Dina grew more attached to a young girl with a failing heart, checking in on her at all hours. Jesse watches from the sidelines, ever the joker, but this time, his humor seems more forced. “You know you can’t save them all, right?” he says, his voice tinged with something else—concern, maybe.
Dina glares at him, her worry written all over her face. “That’s not helpful.”
Jesse shrugs, leaning against the wall. “I just don’t want to see you burn out before we even get to scrub in.”
The weight of his words lingers in the air, but Dina doesn’t respond. She just continues watching over her patient, lost in the world of medicine that consumes her every breath. You’d check in on her occasionally, bringing her coffee and racking her brain when needed.
Meanwhile, Ellie’s handling a post-op patient when she miscalculates a dosage, nearly causing a serious complication. The attending Nora catches it just in time, but Ellie is left feeling defeated. Later that day, you find her sitting on the stairs, her face buried in her hands.
“Hey,” you said, closing the door behind you. Glancing over her defeated figure. Those Green eyes full of exhaustion.
“Hey. You coming to put me out of my misery?” She replied, muffled from her hands.
“No. And Ellie, you’re not the first intern to screw up,” you say, sitting down beside her. “And you won’t be the last.”
Ellie groans, shaking her head. “Yeah, but I’d rather not be that intern.”
You nudge her shoulder, offering a comforting smile. “Get used to it. We’re all just trying to keep our heads above water.” You weren’t sure if those were the most reassuring words you could’ve offered, but it was what she needed in the moment, realism. Her head resting on your shoulder Told you she appreciated it.
At the end of the day, the tension finally breaks. Isaac gathers the interns, and the moment of truth arrives. The chief, Isaac. A gray beard and a deep voice step forward, voice steady and commanding.
“The intern assisting in their first surgery will be…” Time seems to slow, the anticipation palpable. Every eye is on him, every ear straining to hear the verdict.
Your heart skips a beat. Did he just say—you? Your breath catches as you glance at your fellow coworkers, who’s watching you with unreadable eyes.
Jesse mutters under his breath, disbelief lacing his tone. “No. Fucking. Way.”
Dina slaps you on the back, her grin wide. “Hell yeah!”
Ellie lets out a low whistle, her approval evident. Dina turns back to you, her eyes gleaming with something close to pride. “Looks like you better get some sleep.”
But you can’t even process her words.
Next week. Next week! You’ll be scrubbed in, standing on the precipice of your first real surgery.
And there’s no going back. This is it. Your first time under the knife. One chance to prove yourself. The reason you’re here. One week to prepare, to get your head in the game. Your fingers tighten around the blue fabric of your scrub top. Tomorrow, you either sink or swim.
No pressure.
None at all

Wonder in Winterland - Part I
Hallmark!Joel Miller x f!reader | wc: 2790 | masterlist

Summary: You, a city girl on a cross-country road trip a week before Christmas, find yourself stranded in a whimsical Christmas town. You soon discover there is more to life than big city dreams. Based on the Hallmark movie Love You Like Christmas.
Warnings: None (although the rest of this blog is 18+ mdni). This is utter fluff and whimsy. Limited descriptions of reader and no use of y/n. Enjoy it with a cuppa hot cocoa and a warm blankie. Will post on Sundays throughout December.
Dividers courtesy of saradika-graphics. This magical moodboard is all thanks to @brittmb115!
Part I
A thousand miles from nowhere, you grew weary of driving despite the scenic view of snow-dusted evergreens looming like sentinels along the barren stretch of highway. The old pickup your dad left you ate up the miles like an asphalt sandwich, its engine rumbling almost louder than the outdated radio as it struggled to stay tuned to the local stations. The scent of pine mixed with motor oil hung in the cab, a reminder of just how old the truck was and the amount of time you spent trapped in it so far.
If not for the irrational fear of flying, you’d already be in San Francisco, enjoying a cocktail at Pier 39, watching the sea lions as you killed time before your long-time client’s wedding.
Instead, you were twenty-seven hours into the cross-country trek with too many hours left to go and you had to pee so bad you could practically taste it. Shifting uncomfortably, you casted a glance at the towering mountains lining the valley, the sun fighting to peek through the lingering fog as it rose above the peaks. When traffic ground to a halt, a frustrated groan slipped past your lips, and you threw the transmission into park.
Popping the door open with a loud creak, you took the unexpected break as a sign to stretch your legs. The brisk air outside bit at your skin when you stepped out, breath forming small clouds that disappeared into the winter wind. You weaved between cars to the soundtrack of beeping horns and impatient shouts until coming upon the cause of the delay.
A trailer full of Christmas trees sat partially overturned, half its cargo scattered across the highway like some messed up holiday party. Among the chaos stood a man – tall, broad, and clad in a thick, well-worn flannel jacket that looked as rugged as the mountains behind him. The breeze caught his dark curls, tossing them across his forehead as he worked to pile the fallen trees back onto the trailer. Wholly unbothered by the flustered drivers glaring and honking at him, the man worked with steady, unrushed focus.
“Need any help?” you called out, slipping on a pair of leather gloves as you approached.
The man’s head snapped toward you at the sound of your voice, and he paused, brow loosening and a small smile pulling at his lips as warm brown eyes drank you in with a curious, amused glint. “I’d hate to ruin your pretty little outfit, darlin’.”
Your eyebrow arched. A playful smiled tugged at your lips as you stepped closer, snow crunching under your heeled boots. “You think my outfit’s pretty?”
His expression faltered for a split second, replaced by something warmer. “I think you’re pretty. The outfit’s just window dressing.” His grin widened as he added, “I’m Joel, by the way.”
Your laugh bubbled out, light and unexpected, cutting through the cold rhythmically. Joel’s gaze lingered on you, his cheeks tinged pink – not from the chill, but from something else entirely. Just as your gloved hands were about to clasp in a handshake, some asshole laid on his horn with a shout.
“Can you two get a room or something? Some of us have somewhere important to be!”
Turning to glare at the offender, you opened your mouth and the New Jersey in you came flying out. “Can it, dick cheese! Get off your fat ass and help if you’re in that much of a hurry!”
A bark of laughter drew your attention back to Joel as he shook his head in merry disbelief before going back to moving the trees. This time, you didn’t ask if he wanted help and bent to grab one of the smaller trees to lug it toward the trailer. The cold bit at your cheeks, breaking through your coat that was clearly more for style than warmth. The fresh scent of pine filled your lungs, as you hefted the tree back to the trailer.
Joel stood a few paces away with a larger tree slung over his broad shoulder, watching with an amused tilt of his head as you struggled past him.
“Aw come on, doll. You don’t have to do that.” His voice held a soft, almost pleading quality, but hidden behind that was a flicker of admiration as you ignored him and carried on despite the struggle. His expression shifted – half a smirk, half something deeper – as you hefted the tree onto the trailer and turned to fetch yet another one.
The pair of you continued working, Joel’s eyes flicking toward you now and then, lingering a little longer than they should. Around you, the chaos of impatient honking and shouts became nothing more than white noise.
A few others – including the mouthy asshole from earlier – seemed to get the hint that the roadway would clear quicker if they helped and within ten minutes, two of the travel lines were clear and traffic started to flow once again.
“Thanks for your help. You should probably get going, you look like you’re freezing,” Joel said as the last tree landed on the trailer and he pulled the tie down straps taut. “I’m gonna be here a while waiting for the tow truck. Can’t fix the trailer without some equipment.”
“Well, it was nice meeting you, Joel.” You shook Joel’s hand again, the heat from him worming its way through the material of your gloves, curling around you like the heat from a distant fire.
“You, too, darlin’.”
You hesitated, staring at each other for several long moments, not wanting to leave but you didn’t have a good enough excuse to stay. Flashing one last charming smile, you waved and sauntered back to your truck, which sat alone in the still blocked third lane.
The moment your truck refused to start, panic set in, swirling like winter wind in your chest. You hopped out again, popping the hood with more frustration than sense. Steam wafted from the still warm engine in thin, mocking wisps as you stared at the confusing labyrinth of parts comprising the engine compartment, entirely clueless. The frigid air nipped at your fingers and numbed your toes – why didn’t you dress appropriately knowing you’d be driving through a winter wonderland for half the journey.
The crunch of boots over the mix of ice and gravel sounded behind you, causing a shiver to wander down your spine. “I believe it’s my turn to offer a hand,” Joel said, his voice a deep rumble, sending a ripple of something straight to your core. When you turned, he was closer than you expected, his warm brown eyes softening as he took in your helpless shrug. “Let me take a look.”
He leaned over the engine, his broad and calloused hands moving deftly as though coaxing the old truck into cooperation. You caught yourself staring at the way his jaw clenched in concentration, the salt and pepper scruff along his jaw catching the light when he titled his head. Each frustrated grunt from him made your stomach flip, a feeling you hadn’t experienced in a while. Your thoughts began wandering in a certain direction as you eyed the breadth of him…
After a few fruitless minutes, Joel straightened, wiping his palms along the dark denim covering his legs before running one hand through his dark curls. The movement left his hair deliciously mussed, and you ached to run your own fingers through it.
“Can’t do much out here in the cold. Jimmy’s got the tools and parts we’d need back at his garage. Lemme just call him to give ‘em the heads up he’ll need to tow it back.”
As he spoke into his phone, explaining your plight to Jimmy, you realized how much you appreciated the way he said your name, drawing it out like something worth savoring. The way he stood close, his shoulders hunched slightly, broad body breaking the wind to protect you from the cold as much as he could, didn’t go unnoticed either.
“He’ll be here in a few,” Joel said once the call ended. “You can wait in my truck if you’re cold. I’ll give you a lift into town after.” Joel led you toward the shiny black four by four parked half on the shoulder, opening the door for you like a true country gentleman. Holding out a hand, he helped you climb up into the passenger seat as the sound of large tires on the rumble strip sounded behind you. “Up you get. That’ll be Jimmy. Feel free to start ‘er up and put the heat on. We’ll be done in no time.”
Your hands grasped the ring of keys and immediately stuck the right one into the ignition. The truck growled to life with a simple turn of your wrist and heat poured from the vents, carrying the heady scent of fresh-cut trees and sandalwood through the cab – his scent, you realized, and it was unexpectedly comforting. You adjusted in the seat, your fingers brushing over the fabric of a thick Carhart jacket slung over the headrest, as the warmth of the truck seemed to seep into your very core.
You had just pulled the jacket off the seat to wrap around yourself when Joel opened the driver-side door and climbed in, his movements fluid and unhurried. He glanced your way as he settled into the seat, the corners of his lips twitching upward when he noticed you bobbing your head along to Bing Crosby crooning over the radio.
“That was quick!” you exclaimed.
Joel’s chuckle was low and intimate. “Just needed the right leverage,” he said, resting his hands briefly on the heated steering wheel. His large, strong fingers flexed as though testing their strength after the labor. “Jimmy’s hooking up your truck now. He’ll be right behind us.”
You nodded, gaze drifting to his profile to drink in the sharp lines of his jaw and the pink tinge on his cheeks. Snow started falling outside as Joel shifted the truck into gear and began driving. As he steered the large truck down the highway, you caught a faint, amused glint in his eyes when he asked, “So, road-tripping for the holidays?”
The pair of you made easy conversation as he drove. You told him about your travel plans, and he told you about his farm. The miles passed in a blur before he signaled to take the next exit.
“Winterland?” you whispered upon seeing the welcome sign indicating the town’s name, the word slipping past your lips in wonder.
The small town of Winterland was like stepping into a Christmas card come to life. Lights twinkled on every storefront, reflections dancing off the snow-covered sidewalks. Wreaths adorned old gas-style lampposts, and the faint sound of holiday music drifted through the air from scattered outdoor speakers. Joel slowed the truck as he drove down Main Street, and you leaned closer to the window, the scene outside stealing your breath.
Joel glanced at you, warmth lighting his expression as he watched your awe unfold. “It grows on you,” he murmured, his voice almost too quiet to hear over the hum of the engine.
“You have got to be kidding me!” The urge to stomp your foot like a child nearly impossible to fight, you settled for a frustrated huff instead. “Nearly a week? Really?”
Jimmy the tow truck driver slash mechanic slash owner of the only gas station in town shrugged regretfully, one hand placed on the paunch pulling taut on his coveralls, the other stuck in his pocket. “Between the holidays and the weather, that’s the best my supplier could do. Parts for old trucks like that aren’t common, hon.”
“Can’t you order the parts from Amazon or something? They have two-day delivery!”
“Sorry, ma’am. I checked already and they’d have the same problems delivering the parts. That’s the downfall of small mountain towns, unfortunately, and it doesn’t get much smaller than Winterland.” Jimmy tried to smile, but it came across as more of a grimace on his grizzled face.
“Damn. Thanks for trying, Jimmy. I know you’re doing your best and I appreciate it.” Bumping your fist against the counter twice, you spun on your heels to leave only to turn back around. “Uh, is there like an inn or hotel or something nearby? I’m going to need a place to stay if the truck is going to take a week to fix.”
“That we do. The Millers run a small bed and breakfast down the road. It’s the only one in town. I’ll give you a ride in a minute.”
You waved him off. “That’s ok, I’ll just walk. It’ll give me the chance to take in the town.”
Jimmy eyed you doubtfully, questioning your clothing and footwear, which were clearly not suitable for the winter weather in the mountains. “If you say so, doll. You know it’s still snowing out, right?”
Five minutes later, you regretted brushing off Jimmy’s offer of a ride. Between the salt on the sidewalks, the falling snow, and the biting gusts of wind, dragging your rolling suitcase while trying to keep warm was a huge pain in the ass. That and you swore your toes were nothing more than little ice cubes attached to your feet.
When you finally reached the bed and breakfast, cleverly named the Evergreen House at Winterland, the scent of cinnamon and fresh-cut pine greeted you like an old friend. The cozy warmth of the lobby wrapped around you, the crackling fire in the hearth casting dancing shadows on the walls that mesmerized you.
Everything about this town, including its buildings and people, reminded you of Christmas. What was it like in the summer, you wondered.
“Hi there,” a friendly voice greeted you from down the hall and you glanced up to find a beautiful, dark-skinned woman walking toward you. Dressed in well-worn jeans and a thick ivory sweater, feet clad in fuzzy slippers, your own chilled, damp body quaked with jealousy over how comfortable and warm she looked. “You must be the new guest Jimmy told me to expect. I’m Maria.”
Replying with your name and a smile, you added, “I hope you have a room for me? I’m at a loss for where else to look if not.”
“Of course! We have the best room for you and plenty of food and drink to keep you sustained for as long as you need. What brings you to town?”
Maria led you up the rounded stairway as you shared the story of driving across the country and the old truck refusing to start after a delay on the highway. You spared her the details, though. She stopped in front of dark wooden door, a hand-carved sign on it reading “Blue Spruce”, and opened it to reveal a cozy sitting area and a large bed. “This is your room. We named all the rooms after Christmas trees. It was my husband’s idea – his brother owns the tree farm on the outskirts of town.”
Putting the pieces together, you asked, “Your husband is Joel’s brother?”
“You know Joel?” Maria inquired, brows arching curiously. She seemed delighted by that fact, judging by the smile slowly spreading across her lips.
“Well, yeah, I met him out on the highway. He’s the reason for the traffic jam and why I ended up here in Winterland rather than stranded somewhere else along the road.”
“Well, isn’t that serendipitous!” Maria replied with a clap of her hands. “Joel and Sarah are coming for dinner tonight. You’ll join us, of course.”
Maria’s excitement was infectious, and you smiled in return. You couldn’t help but wonder who Sarah was – a girlfriend or wife, probably, as your luck tended to go – and if Joel’s reaction to your unexpected reunion would be as enthusiastic as hers. Maria left you to get settled in and rest for a bit before dinner. You changed into something more comfortable for napping and barely laid down before something scratched at the door with a low whine.
“What in the world?” you murmured as you shuffled toward the door. A golden retriever sat waiting for you, tongue lolling and a Santa-themed bandana around its neck. “Well, hello there. Who might you be?”
The dog trotted right past you like he owned the place, and you spotted the name Barkley printed on the bandana as he went by. “Barkley, huh? The Miller family really went all in on the Christmas tree charm, didn’t they?”
Barkley jumped on the bed and whined, clearly begging you to let him nap there. Giggling softly, you shut the door and climbed back under the covers, falling asleep with Barkley snuggled right up to your side like your own personal radiator.

🧠 "Smart Jikookers" — Where You At?
You know what’s truly comedic? Watching some Jikookers try to be the self-appointed saviors of the TL like it’s an Avengers reboot nobody asked for. Suddenly y’all out here with your superhero capes, “correcting” narratives you were helping blow out of proportion less than 24 hours ago. Oh, it’s okay when you say it, but when someone else brings it up first, you pull out the moral compass and start preaching from your digital pulpit? Cute.
Let me be clear: YOU are part of the problem. And you know who you are.
This is exactly why it’s hard to defend our own sometimes. The whiplash from the hypocrisy is unreal. Like baby, you started the chaos, stirred the drama soup, and now you wanna act brand new because you finally took 3 seconds to Google something? Sit down.
Shout out to the Jikookies who actually took the time to show up to the chatroom yesterday or stayed quiet instead of barking nonsense into the void. I see you. I appreciate you. You're not just here for vibes — you're here with critical thinking, empathy, and at least a basic understanding that this isn't just Western Twitter where everything revolves around your personal interpretation of "activism."
But for the rest of you? The ones who turned into part-time scholars after causing an online riot? You had one job — to not open your mouth before you had the full context. But instead, you were out here handing out takes like they were Halloween candy.
This is why more and more Jikookers are opting for private convos, silent reposts, and stepping back from public discourse. Because the second we try to share something nuanced, half of y’all are foaming at the mouth, itching to cancel someone based on mistranslations and assumptions.
I truly believed Jikookers were built differently — smarter, sharper, more in tune with nuance. And yet, here we are. Again. Disappointed, exhausted, and begging people to stop Westernizing everything like Korea is a Pinterest moodboard and not a country with its own culture, context, and emotional weight.
You don’t live there. You don’t speak the language fluently. You don’t know the people involved. But somehow you're the spokesperson for how things should be handled?
I’m begging you. For the love of Jikook, for the love of common sense, for the love of the people they care about — DO. YOUR. RESEARCH. Stop dragging the people they love through the mud just because your brain was out of office that day.
This isn’t just disappointing. It’s disheartening. And it’s a damn shame that this even needed to be said.

Welcome Home!
Magicians Fanworks Event, Jan. 27-Mar. 9, 2025

Welcome Home!
We’re welcoming fanworks of all types celebrating The Magicians (Lev Grossman/SyFy). This low-key challenge focuses on a series of weekly entries, open to both new works and additional chapters to existing WIPs, from Jan. 27-Mar. 9, 2025, Eastern time.
The overall theme for the entire event is Welcome Home!
If you would like to create something for the general “Welcome Home!” theme, these are welcome anytime while the event is open, from Jan. 27-Mar. 9!
In addition, here are the weekly themes. If you miss your week, you’ve got a second chance during Week 6, our Free Space/Catch-Up week!
Want to continue an existing WIP but it doesn’t match any of our themes? Send it during Week 6!
All types of fanworks are welcome! Yes, yes, yes to fic, art, edits, vids, cosplay, crafting, podfic, fanmixes, pinboards, moodboards, and more! Any number of submissions you like. You can even send us multiple chapters of the same work as separate entries, for different themes or the same theme! Please let us know which theme you chose, and make sure your work either:
1. Fits the overall event theme (send anytime Jan. 27-Mar. 9), or:
2. Fits a specific week’s theme (send during that week, or in Week 6)
Exception: New additions to existing WIPs that don’t match a themeare welcome in Week 6.
WEEK 1: Jan. 27-Feb. 2, Home—What constitutes “home” to the characters? What do they think of “home,” good or bad?
WEEK 2: Feb. 3-9, "It's been a long time"—It could be a long time since characters saw each other, or a long time engaged on a task like the mosaic. Special note: The 7th anniversary of The Magicians 3x05, “A Life in the Day,” is Feb. 7. We’d love to see Mosaic Fic.
WEEK 3: Feb. 10-16, Seasonal/holiday—Whether or not it’s the current season/holiday right now (any are welcome). This could include “vibes” or “ambiance” for the readers to enjoy in connection with a particular holiday (haunted house for Halloween; romance for Valentine’s Day—which falls this week). If the season or holiday is not specifically referenced in the content, please let us know which one it is.
WEEK 4: Feb. 17-23, Magical creature—A being from the show or books, or from mythology/folklore, or one you make up.
WEEK 5: Feb. 24-Mar. 2, Returning after absence (or returning to being themselves).
WEEK 6: Mar. 3-9, Free space/catch-up week! If you are catching up for a prior week, please let us know which one. If you’re adding to an existing WIP that doesn’t match any theme, it belongs here.
Remember—any works for the general “Welcome Home” theme may be sent any time the event is open, from Jan. 27-Mar. 9. However, please let us know if you are following the overall event theme rather than that week’s theme.
The last day for challenge entries on Tumblr and/or AO3 will be March 9 at 11:59 PM Eastern.
Please stay tuned for more details! And in the meantime, please enjoy the wonderful works created for our micro Magicians challenge, Warm Up!

Moodboard I made for my story Soft Hearts on ao3💜
Most of the pictures I found on Pinterest, a couple are from the artist Yuyuta_snzgw who actually created the comic that inspired my story. Two pieces of art unfortunately I can’t find the artists for but credit goes to them!
I’ve also updated the story so there’s a new chapter out, chapter 3! I struggled a little with it but I’m ultimately proud of the result. If you decide to check it out I hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more to come! 🐾💜
