Seed to Tree - Fête de la Musique Wellenstein (LU) - 15.06.2024
It was a lovely surprise when Seed to Tree announced they'd be playing in Wellenstein which is less than 10 kilometres from where I live. As you can see from the video, it is not quite the same as the Fête de la Musique in Dudelange, but hey - they had the better line-up this year😉(not that we watched any of the other artists, oops).
Chatting afterwards, we remembered that the band had actually once played a gig at a comparingly close location to my village - 9 years ago in Sierck-les Bains. But closer is still possible, so let's see what next year's Festival³ might bring (which actually takes place IN my village and had e.g. LE VIBE on the line-up this year).

From last October. The pods were still hanging on the honey locust tree because the large Ice Age mammals that used to eat them and spread the seeds just never come around anymore. I read but haven’t tested it that the stuff inside the pods around the seeds is sweeter than honey (not recommended b/c I don’t know if it’s toxic). Somebody back in the Pleistocene had a sweet tooth and it seems to be mastodons. Remnants of these pods have been found in their manure. And the huge thorns and spines at a certain height on the trees? They were to discourage mastodons from pushing the whole tree over to get the pods just out of reach! Now you know.

This is going to be short bc i already have a post up explaining this situation, but I started having seizures, which led to medical costs I couldn't handle bc I have an autoimmune disorder that's been going untreated for years. I got the appts covered bc of an extremely generous friend on here, and had some additional medication costs which I thankfully had enough for. I've been applying to at least 10 jobs a day and had tons of interviews. I'm going through interviews and assessments for several jobs (got more scheduled for tomorrow) Then my card got stolen, and now I am screwed as far as rent goes, even if one of these jobs comes through like today we will still fall short because rent is due on the 1st and we don't get a grace period. I am trying to get the money that was taken when my card was stolen back, but I have been told to wait to hear back after submitting all the details, and have yet to hear back.
Dm me for proof or more details. I will do art for anyone who helps with this and you can commission me at my art blog @theartistrans I just desperately need to get rent. My roommates and I have a huge food garden planted and are working towards self-sufficiency, which we have no hope of if we can't pay rent.

Find A Song about the privilege of growing up in a safe place
Seed To Tree - Concrete
"'Concrete' is a piano ballad that reflects on the privilege of being born and raised in a secure place and on the chance of having had a good childhood: „Since i was born I knew, I would land softly in my sheets.“ The song starts off softy at the beginning, before it develops into a driving, powerful track filled with catchy guitar line and synth hooks."

Plant of the Day
Saturday 8 February 2025
A small spreading deciduous tree Acer griseum (paperbark maple) has cinnamon-coloured bark that peels each year and looks wonderful backlit by winter sunshine. This tree is fairly slow-growing and performs best in moist, well-drained soils.

Peach Gum (桃胶) is the resin from Chinese wild peach trees (Prunus persica). When the tree bark is wounded, a sticky substance is released and hardens upon exposure to air. This crystalline form of the gum is collected and dried to form the golden nuggets we see on the market.

In traditional Chinese medicine, peach gum is used to nourish the skin, enhance elasticity, and promote a youthful appearance. It is also believed to have digestive, respiratory, and immune system benefits. In cooking, peach gum is soaked in water until it softens and becomes gelatinous. It is then added to desserts, soups, and sweet beverages as a natural thickener and to enhance texture. Sis prepared this Peach Gum & White Fungus Sweet Soup (桃胶白木耳糖水) using pre-soaked peach gum, white fungus, lotus seeds, wolfberries and red dates. It is boiled over low heat and allowed to simmer for about 15 minutes else the gum might dissolve.
