Acoustic Treatment: Tips for Corporate Office Installation
Walk into a modern corporate office, and you're likely to see open floor plans, stylish furniture, and collaborative work zones. But beneath the surface of all this sleek design lies an element that's often overlooked—acoustic treatment. While natural light and ergonomic furniture get the spotlight, a noisy office can quietly chip away at productivity, employee satisfaction, and even mental well-being.
That’s where the science—and art—of acoustic treatment steps in. Whether you're revamping an old office or planning interiors for a brand-new workspace, managing sound intelligently can be a game-changer. In this article, we break down practical tips and essential tools like acoustic panels, acoustic boards, acoustic sheets, and more to help you create a more peaceful and productive environment.
Why Acoustic Matters in a Corporate Office
In bustling corporate settings, constant phone calls, keyboard tapping, Zoom meetings, and casual chatter can create a cacophony of noise. This background noise is more than a nuisance; studies have shown that it leads to decreased concentration, increased stress levels, and reduced efficiency.
Effective acoustic treatment ensures that sound is controlled in a way that supports different types of work—from deep focus to collaborative brainstorming. It’s not just about absorbing noise, but also about directing sound intelligently through various acoustic materials and design strategies.
Tip 1: Start with a Sound Audit
Before diving into the installation of acoustic panels or acoustic sheets, conduct a sound audit of your space. This involves identifying:
High-noise zones (cafeterias, collaborative areas)
Quiet zones (executive cabins, meeting rooms)
Transition zones (hallways, reception)
Understanding how sound travels in your space will guide where to place acoustic materials effectively.
Tip 2: Use Acoustic Panels for Wall Absorption
When people think of acoustic treatment, wall-mounted acoustic panels are often the first thing that comes to mind—and for good reason. These panels are designed to absorb sound waves and reduce echo, especially in rooms with hard surfaces like glass or concrete.
Acoustic panels come in a variety of colors, shapes, and materials. Whether you’re going for a minimalist, modern look or a more vibrant, branded aesthetic, there's a panel for every design vision. Strategically install them in areas where sound reflections are highest—typically large walls opposite workstations or meeting rooms.
Tip 3: Don’t Ignore the Ceilings
Ceiling-mounted acoustic boards are often the unsung heroes of office design. In open-plan offices where wall space may be limited, installing acoustic boards overhead can dramatically improve speech clarity and reduce ambient noise.
These can be suspended in creative patterns or installed as full-ceiling tiles to blend seamlessly with lighting and HVAC layouts. When paired with other acoustic materials, ceiling boards help create a layered sound absorption strategy that’s both aesthetic and functional.
Tip 4: Go Vertical with Acoustic Sheets
Sometimes, you need flexibility. That’s where acoustic sheets come into play. These are thin, adaptable acoustic materials that can be used as dividers, ceiling baffles, or even under carpets and furniture for stealthy sound dampening.
Acoustic sheets are particularly useful in temporary office setups or spaces that require frequent reconfiguration. You can roll them out, hang them from the ceiling, or even wrap them around columns for an instant noise control upgrade.
Tip 5: Combine Different Acoustic Materials
A single type of acoustic material is rarely enough. The best acoustic treatment plans use a combination of:
Acoustic panels for walls
Acoustic boards for ceilings
Acoustic sheets for flexible zones and furniture integration
By combining these elements, you ensure that sound is absorbed, diffused, and redirected in a way that supports all office functions. It’s all about layering—think of it as the acoustic equivalent of thermal insulation.
Tip 6: Choose the Right Materials
Not all acoustic materials are created equal. When selecting products, consider:
NRC Rating (Noise Reduction Coefficient): Higher NRC means better sound absorption.
Fire Resistance: Essential for meeting safety codes.
Sustainability: Look for eco-friendly or recycled acoustic materials.
Aesthetic Versatility: Pick textures and colors that blend with your interior palette.
Whether you’re working with PET felt, fiberglass, wood wool, or fabric-covered foam, the right acoustic material should marry performance with visual appeal.
Tip 7: Include Acoustic Treatment in the Design Phase
One of the biggest mistakes companies make is treating acoustic treatment as an afterthought. Retrofitting acoustic panels or acoustic boards after the office is complete is less efficient—and often more expensive.
Instead, collaborate with acoustic consultants, architects, and designers early in the planning process. This allows for better integration of acoustic materials with lighting, HVAC, and spatial planning, ensuring maximum effectiveness with minimal disruption.
Tip 8: Maintenance Matters
Like any other element in a corporate office, acoustic panels, acoustic sheets, and acoustic boards need maintenance. Dust, grime, and wear can reduce their effectiveness and visual appeal over time.
Regular vacuuming, spot cleaning, and occasional replacements (depending on the material) will keep your acoustic treatment solutions performing at their best. Choosing durable and easy-to-clean acoustic materials can make long-term care easier.
Final Thoughts
In today’s hybrid and flexible work environments, acoustic comfort is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. A well-executed acoustic treatment strategy doesn’t just reduce noise; it enhances collaboration, supports focus, and elevates the overall experience of the workspace.
From stylish acoustic panels to multipurpose acoustic sheets and versatile acoustic boards, businesses now have more tools than ever to design workplaces where form meets function—and silence meets style.
Make sound decisions now, and your employees will thank you later.

Acoustic Treatment for Sound Mixing and Home Recording

Acoustic treatment of the entire house or part of it becomes very imperative when the homeowner is planning to do some sound mixing in the house. There can be a very few simple steps to do the process at home in a very acoustically sound technique.
The corners of the house are the worst enemies while planning for sound mixing sitting right in the room. Anybody can set up a home recording studio. Nonetheless, he can run into some issues while doing it. Nonetheless, if you know what you will be dealing with, it makes the process much seamless and lenient.
If you are dealing with a bad sounding room, have a look at some of the ideas regarding acoustic wood panels that make your sound recorded at a home studio much better straightaway.
Ideal position within the room
Generally, your sound mixing position should be almost one third of the room along its length. Don’t sit in the middle or much close to the walls. The best position for balancing of the frequency is somewhere near to one third of the length of the room. You can go almost crazy to just estimate the ideal length or to bring out a measuring tape.
Avoid the corners
Corners are your main enemies while doing sound mixing. Putting bass-traps is like setting for Reflection of sound that sucks the low ends. You know that is where the bass should be placed, so you get an opportunity to suck it out of the room. Room corners are never perfect for acoustical impact in the sound created within the room.
The experts often move the positioning of different furnishing aspect in the room to make a sound isolation process work properly.
By adding all these ideas, the sound reducing panels in the room can be done quite leniently and fast.

Not really transformers art (hope u don't mind :3)
But fun fact: Xenomorphs have always been my number one favourite aliens what comes to design :3
Even from when i was younger i was obsessed with drawing them but wasn't so good at it but man sketching and drawing Xeno after a long time felt really good and fun :DD i even played Alien isolation and Alien vs predator games and i highly recomend both ! :3
I also had this fun silly thought when i was drawing like- why is it always humans that get into shit with deadly aliens😭 wether it's transformers or xenomorphs it's always Earth and humans getting the "shortest stick" and i think it's pretty funny :P
Imagine like a Xenomorph somehow gets into the Lost Light, the poor bots catch it and lock it up because it's very aggresive so they call over their human liaison to come and take a look if they can indentify it by any chance and as soon as they see it they just jump back in fear and scream like "WOAH !!" to get rid of that thing, kill it or anything and not let it go anywhere near them and the bots are just confused like what why?? And then they proceed to show the bots all the movies and feel sorry and very disturbed for the human liaison😭

I'm barely to the massacre and I can already tell I'm going to be screaming at every this-makes-no-sense decision made by the writers (your temple is under violent attack, and you evacuate the kids... to a barely enclosed corner in a prominent temple room? Instead of to the hundreds of sky bison that were highlighted as flying in earlier? Why?) (And Aang left to clear his head and think instead of to run from his duties? That's such a less compelling plot arc?) (And the show had him briefly monologue about being a goofy kid who loves pies and his friends instead of using the extended temple scene to show any of that? Didn't want to pay more child actors, did you, Netflix?)
Yeah I'm just. Going to be screaming at the screen instead of enjoying this. Different decisions aren't necessarily bad, but when those decisions seem to be in the direction of "show a man burning alive before we even get to the on-screen massacre" this is just... not the show for me.
#The original show emphasized the horror and sadness of the massacre by putting it in the context of people and culture lost#This one is going the Show People We Don't Know Burning Alive Clearly That Will Make More Of An Impression route#Gyatso's bones will always be the epitome of heart break#get out of here with your on-screen immolations just to demonstrate literally flashy cgi#Anyway someone tell me if the Omashu episode is worth watching in isolation I've seen gifs of Zuko getting brow-beat by Random Market Lady#And that DOES sound hilarious#But is the rest of the episode worth it or should I stick to gifs#This is like trying to decide if a barely-canon-divergent fanfic is worth slogging through#For its five fun new scenes#When the rest is just The Same As The Original But Worse#avatar the last airbender#atla#natla#netflix atla

#i'm so mad that the editors have put the music in the dialogue track for the two newest episodes so that i can't remove it all :))))#in order to even remove it as much as i did i have to add voice isolation which just makes them sound robotic :)))))))))#thank you editors for taking my one (1) thing away from me#anyway#911 abc#911 spoilers#buddie#scenes without music

#can’t help but recognize how kieran is a fantastic unspoken representation of autism#i see a lot of myself in him and the way that he is so isolated and lonely and yet cannot help but perform and find solace in his daily#routines is so heartbreaking in its own way to me. like no matter what you do or where you are you have no choice but to be yourself and fun#nction the only way you know how and it will never not be vastly different from everyone else. and when you’re surrounded by people who DONT#like you and will not accommodate and are not at all willing or curious in understanding WHY you are the way you are you’re left to just ….#live in your own head forever. i’m certain kieran thinks many wonderous things and sees the world in a beautiful light and i know this becau#se i am autistic myself and because of that i see the world in colours that neurotypical people will never comprehend but we’re never allowe#d to see the world through kieran’s eyes. we are never allowed to see where his heart rests or the poetry he waxes or what he believes or wh#at his triggers are or what’s a stim and what’s just habit or anything. anything. the breeze sounds different to him and he can hear birds f#or miles and the sun makes every hair on his arms tingle and that’s why he wears layers everywhere and every green he sees sings a beautiful#song to him and yet we’ll never know. because he is too different even for the van der linde gang. he is incomprehensible to them and he doe#s all of his 4/5 daily tasks over and over and over again and while he would always do them and will always do them because they are innate#to him no one will ever know just what they mean to him. no one will ever know that kieran duffy can distinguish the horses behind him by th#eir breathing cadences behind him as he scrubs the spare saddle with the sun high above his head and he can know when something is wrong bec#ause he can hear it. no one will ever know that he CAN read but the only thing he’s interested in is books about wildlife and horses and fis#h in particular and no one will ever know because he knows no one will ever understand or even care and if they do they’ll be sure to make#it a point to tell him how DIFFERENT he is. and realistically even if the vdl’s DID come around to liking him he STILL would NEVER be unders#tood. i know for certain he would always be described as odd and despite its new affectionate approach he would still be the odd one out wit#h his daily routines and his texture preferences and his inability to make eye contact and his erratic seemingly random triggers and his#anxiety that seems to have a mind of its own. no one would ever know how bright the tree leaves are in his eyes or how every horse smells di#fferent or why sometimes it’s more fun to reel his rod in over and over instead of actually catching a fish. he will always be …. different.#sorry. novel moment. he means a lot to me.#i’m not super happy with how he looks in these but i’m just trying to draw more :’) i always say that but i always mean it too#also if my novel makes no sense then just ignore it. it’s late and my head hurts. i tend to get tangential#rdr2#red dead redemption 2#kieran duffy#image#art#hero draws sometimes

I’m certain this is supposed to be Nuance and Realism. Bruce is supposed to come off like he’s ridiculous and wrong for prescribing vigilantism for Jason’s issues. He means well sure, but Alfred is here to keep the audience’s perspective grounded.
Alfred making Jason out to be beyond their help to the point of suggesting “other arrangements” is laying it on pretty thick, but I suspect that’s because the story is setting Bruce up to validate his desire to redeem Jason. I foresee an “Oh Brucie 🥺” moment. The tragedy will then be that although Bruce’s idealism is right, Jason still dies because This Life Isn’t For Everyone. (He can’t be fixed)
This is my gripe with the gotcha that Jason may have been troubled, but it was Bruce who made him Robin. Yes it’s a step above DC’s classic shameless victim-blaming, and fun in light of that, but it’s ultimately unsatisfying because Jason still isn’t allowed to be a hero. As soon as he becomes Robin, the position immediately becomes one of victimization rather than empowerment— despite the fact that out of all Robins, Jason seems built specifically for that angle.
Really, I dare you to come up with a better counterbalance to Batman, the guy whose ‘superpowers’ are hyperfixation and money, than a Robin who came from the streets. Both inextricably linked to Gotham, but from opposite ends of the social hierarchy. What better way to show that Batman isn’t just a rich guy that punches poor people? What better way to show that people want to be good, they just need the chance?
Lemire makes much out of Jason’s feelings of helplessness, but there’s not much acknowledgment of what helplessness is. Yeah it’s watching your mom overdose. It’s also stealing despite not wanting to hurt anyone. Putting up a tough front despite wanting to be kind. Picking your fights and deciding exactly how far you’re willing to go to survive.
Why is it that the word noble, meaning good and having integrity, is the same as the word for a noble- an aristocrat?
#Jason is not about revenge he is the will to do good personified#‘Jason died because he couldn’t let go of his anger’ he died because bad things can happen to good people#and yeah Bruce fucked up#Batman and Robin is a partnership based on trust and respect#Robin doesn’t *work* without those things#hiding information on Willis’ death#isolating from other heroes#not giving him even the barest amount of information about his predecessor except to make comparisons on their abilities#does that sound like trust and respect#jason todd#robin and batman#rambling#it’s 3-am dear lord#vent#cologimmeabreak

Reflection of sound, acoustics and echo
Why are music venues better for concerts than others? Though our eyes might be captivated by the lovely ornate interior of a historic auditorium or the contemporary architecture of a concert hall, our ears are the best and truest judges.

For years, the O’Neill Engineered Systems has worked to enhance music spaces for rehearsal and performance. Two vital acoustical concepts, echo and reflection of sound and echo play vital roles in determining what our ears hear and how good a venue sounds. This week’s post will discover every concept and a related product designed to positively impact it.
Reflection of sound- Emphasizing sound with shells
Just like bouncing off a mirror, sound waves reflect off hard surfaces within a performance space including the ceiling, floor and walls.
Echo- Curbing sound with Banners
Another vital acoustical concept for performance spaces is echo, which is the persistence of sound in a confined space. Sound waves radiate through the air until they strike an obstacle that reflects or strike a surface, absorb or transmit them. Regardless of the sound, echo time is measured in seconds, from the moment the sound is generated to when it decays to the point of inaudibility with sound isolation.
In any performance venue, extra echo can make it impossible for the audience and musicians to hear detail and definition regarding sound reducing panels. Most of the professional music venues these days are designed to offer echo times. Use of acoustical banners assists to absorb sound and lessen the echo time.
Sound advice
For an overview of other acoustical concepts and their relevance to performance venues, free educational guides are available from O’Neill Engineered Systems, including acoustic wood panels. These guides offer general information, and we also suggest consulting with an acoustician about your particular situation.

Takashi living the warm, full-of-love life that reiko couldn't have (as far as we know in the current canon) feels very much like the grief that dawns for children when they finally realized how much sacrifice their parents didn't always tell them just to give birth and raise them.
Like, technically speaking, reiko only gave takashi a world of problems by passing down the sight and the book of friends decades after her death, but takashi also grasped the wholesome and the awful parts of interacting with both humans and youkai from the memories she had left behind, scattered among all these eternal monsters she had defeated, leaving in them unintentional, but important life lessons for him to find later on in the future. If it weren't for all those societal rejections that reiko received from humans and the hardships from youkai that led her to start the book of friends, takashi wouldn't be able to avoid repeating her mistakes (and, consequently, could be just as comfortable with isolation like reiko was), let alone make the precious balance we now see him have in the present time, where he can make genuine connections with humans and youkai while also maintaining a balance to them. Do you get what I'm saying 💔
#i know that reiko's usual phrase “you can eat me if i lose this match” is meant as a cocky one to signify her monstrous strength#but it sometimes sounds like she doesn't value her life as much to me? that makes me wonder what'd she think of takashi and the life he led#like. i can see reiko dying with the expectations that the natsume name will die with her daughter... but no. it lived long enough to be#passed down to a boy. one who has the same looks sight and power as her but he's living such a different life compared to hers. there's so#much warmth in his when hers has always been cold and isolated. it'll probably feel surreal to her that her presence gave such a drastic#and positive affect to another humans. one who is the exact copy of her but at the same time is the total opposite#sorry i just have a lot of reiko and takashi thoughts. and tell me your name has set the floodgates free haha 😭 i hope this makes sense 😭#natsume reiko#natsume takashi#natsume yuujinchou s7#natsume yuujinchou#natsume's book of friends#natsuyuu#natsuyuu anime#natsuyuu manga

What are some of your favourite sound effects? Both in general, and that are on the blog
Guhhhh so hard to answer.
I mean it feels like cheating to say the ones I've added to this blog myself (Dredge Aberration fished up, Beastieball Daredillo)
I think some of my favourites are from early DS era games, especially Nintendogs. I think the Nintendogs sound design is such a heavy hitter, if I ever want to do up my twitch stream again then I'd probably make alerts be sounds from that game haha.
On this blog though? I loved that someone submitted the heavy attack from Lies of P. That was one that made me be like oh fucking POG.
A recent one was also the Dicey Dungeons sound. The person who submitted it actually sent it in a video with a bunch of sounds so I had to go and isolate the sound myself but I knew I had to because that sound hits so GOOD.
#dykasks#I will also generally try to isolate/find sounds if i can ive done it for a good few as people will just send gameplay footage with noise#and if you've done that then i generally have to skip it I do apologize#but god theres so many good SOUNDS
