Video analysts and coordinators are frequently invisible in sports organizations, but the work they do behind the scenes is critical to pre-match preparation, post-match assessment, and the refinement of on-field strategy.  This article discusses two fundamental topics that all video analysts and coordinators should consider when developing effective procedures and workflows for their organization.  If you're new to sports video analysis, this blog will help you adjust to the job and begin to develop new duties within your organization.

Understand coaching needs through video analysis
It is no secret that various clubs have varying working structures and resource levels. For video analysis to have a significant influence on your club, you must first get the support of the coaching staff and understand their major requirements and communication strategies.
Before you begin developing your analysis methods and workflows, you must first understand the coaching staff's expectations for sports video analysis.
Are they expecting pre- and post-match presentations?
What is their desired turnaround time for projects?
How much detail are they searching for?
How much involvement do they wish to have in the process?
Once you have answers to those questions, it will be easy to create a process that maximizes your time while still meeting the coaching staff's goals. Without this phase, you risk diminishing the effect of video analysis within the organization by establishing priorities that are not in line with the club's overall performance goals.
The second component of the puzzle is communication. By developing a thorough grasp of how coaches prefer to communicate, you can begin to modify your analysis in a way that best conveys your message and feeds into their areas of expertise.
If a coach has prior familiarity with video technologies, they may be willing to speak in more technical terms and perhaps participate actively in day-to-day analysis. If they are less technically inclined or new to performance analysis, simplify your delivery and provide insights from a simple tactical perspective.

Focus on the areas having greatest impact
Regardless of the type of organization you work for, managing upwards may be challenging and scary. However, for video analysts and coordinators, it is critical if you want others to have reasonable expectations of your job and to guarantee that you are making the most of your time.  One of the most effective methods to accomplish this is to determine the areas in which you can have the largest impact on the organization. It is up to you to establish your goals and explicitly agree on them with the necessary stakeholders, however, you believe video analysis will benefit the club the most.  Perhaps you believe your duty should be to train the coaches in sports video analysis and serve as a facilitator for them to contribute to the process. Alternatively, you may believe that the club requires more leadership in that area and that it is your responsibility to step into the breach and develop best practices. Whatever your conclusion is, make sure it is conveyed and agreed upon by all necessary parties.

Do you believe L would prefer to be with someone who is smart academic wise or some other brainy smart or would he not mind someone who is “average” but has something outside of academics they may excel at? (history, cooking, art, baking, sports etc)
Hi there anon! Thanks for question. I've actually theorised about this exact topic a couple of times before, and I might actually have an unorthodox opinion about it. But before I start my analysis, I would like to refer you to a few metas that I personally find extremely compelling and which have also shaped my view of L.

Apologies in advance for the length in this rant of mine. I like to analyse L from different angles, as you might've guessed 😛
Short answer:
I think L would appreciate someone who makes an effort to meet him where he's at and accepts him for who he is. Someone he can have a conversation with, but is ultimately kind and trustworthy. These two qualities would be to L like a lifeline, because it's something he's missing on an intimate level. While Watari is loyal to him and cares about his well being, these are different types of relationships.

So, one of the things I find that helps me when looking at L from this romantic perspective is to search for clues across canon (manga, anime) and the expanded universe (L:CtW, LA:BB, drama, Spiraling Trap, etc) that explain what's going on in his head and, most importantly, what makes him interested in people.
As per your question:

Let's approach this in two parts. If we were analysing this from a relationship POV, whether romantic or platonic, I can see two major interpretations:

(Chapter 20: First move) Here's a screenshot of L losing a tennis match to Light. Makes him less daunting, doesn't it? To know even L can lose at not-so-mundane-but-still-quite-normal things he's supposed to be great at.
01: The intellectual allure vs a supportive SO
There's oceans of difference between being a genius and someone who can give L support and companionship, despite not speaking the same "language". This would not be too dissimilar to couples with wildly different career paths (ex: a nurse and a software developer) who meet halfway and actively choose to understand each other. It has to do with common goals and values, your life project together.
Love is something you choose every day. Staying in a long-term relationship is choosing to be vulnerable and to share your life with someone you find kinship with. Unorthodox L may be, but as Fu Takahashi (who plays L in the 2020 musical) said:
(...) despite his superficial image as a smart guy who hates losing, he actually feels lonely and needs affection, I imagine (...) He tries to control his emotions, like the feelings towards his parents, or romantic feelings; that’s why he is sort of dependent on games or battles of the mind.
The above quote is super important, in my opinion, considering how difficult it is to pin down L's true personality. If we go by Spiraling Trap terms, he falls for a main character who pays attention to his (dessert) needs and makes him feel 'seen'. Taken cared of. Someone who is genuinely kind to him and wants to do him a good turn because they care about him. We can extrapolate that this is, perhaps, due to his isolationist tendencies and lack of meaningful contact with the sort who take time to want to know the true L and what he likes. To that kind of person, L isn't just the world's greatest detective or a machine, lacking human emotion --- that person acknowledges that he has feelings, likes and dislikes, and isn't malicious towards him.
Consider that L lies a lot. He'd lie twice saying "good morning" if it suited him, which makes for an unhealthy dynamic. However, for those he truly cares about, I believe he would be far more careful to safeguard the few genuine connections he has in life and thus try to curb some bad behaviours to the best of his ability.
I believe @43501 put it best when they mentioned how L would prefer an [educated, clever partner] but that he'd be drawn to people who are [interesting and offbeat]. I would argue this doesn't mean a double PhD level of intelligence, but rather someone who is curious about the world, who talks to him like an equal (i.e., not as if he's superior or inferior to them). There would need to be something to that person that made them unique to L --- but uniqueness in the context of someone who suppresses their emotions so strongly, and would find themselves to be starving for affection once they found that source of comfort and support, I believe that uniqueness could be kindness.
Accept the man despite his quirks and flaws, in all his intensity, and I believe it would be impossible for L to be indifferent to that kind of genuine devotion. After all, he's been without all his life and likely never thought he'd find it. It's possible that, in his loneliness, a part of him even thought himself to be above such things, but what a tumble it would be, for L to find that he's a man dying of thirst.
...
Now, in manga canon (and throughout the source material closest to it), L and Light find a degree of interest in each other for how similar they are in intellect. This creates a connection, even respect between the two, allowing them to see beyond each other's mask. It's thrilling, a cat and mouse game which they arguably become addicted to. Once L dies, Light even muses how Near is lacking by comparison, undeserving.
However, if we go by what V13:HTR says regarding their relationship, then L does think quite poorly of Light beyond their matching intellect. This is more or less explicit in a couple of scenes in the manga and anime where L muses about how much Light talks, how cheesy he is with his faux morality, putting up an act.
No matter L's interest in the game with Light, he doesn't trust him. Trust is paramount to build a healthy relationship. Theirs would be a toxic, petty relationship standing on foundations of distrust, and a thirst for constant competition.
From this perspective, L arguably wouldn't be in love, but stuck in an addictive powerplay. Very engaging to read about; certainly challenging (and interesting!) to write — but not so good to live through. The best case scenario I can see for such a relationship would be something like the series Vicious with Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, in which they settle into a constant clash of snark.
I talk here about the prospect of L being 'out of balance' emotionally, which makes him dive into games of the mind to distract himself from his burdens.
02. Appreciation for another type of individual, the average...Sam?

(Chapter 21: Duplicity) Added this one here because this exchange always makes me chuckle.
I'd like to focus on the 2015 drama to establish a parallel with this 'average' Sam concept.
In this adaptation, Light is far more 'normal' than in any other. He diverges from his original canon self in various ways, though the most interesting for me was how the drama tried to show what Light, as a regular young adult, could be if he wasn't an extreme genius, a perfect guy in the eyes of society --- and how this shift would contrast with L.
Drama Light:
Goes to concerts
Is a fanboy
Is clumsy
Gets bullied
He's not the perfect guy with an immaculate reputation. It brings him further down to the ground, like us common mortals.
Both L and Light found solace and appreciation in the differences of their mindset. A more 'average' Light still managed to connect with L, leading to this scene:

If we consider the drama and then extrapolate a few conclusions from these interactions, we can argue that an 'average' but grounding presence in L's life would do him good. An uber genius might be able to follow L's thought process more easily, but they can still become an issue or more easily turn on him for the intellectual competition and to surpass the world's greatest detective.
...
TLDR; I would argue that an average individual would still be a perfect match for L, perhaps far more than an incredible genius. L would value kindness and care far more than super intellect, especially if he was on the receiving end of this kind of genuine connection.

Feeling like putting down my find so here is
JV/Ant Davidson Timeline
(Can’t guarantee 100% accuracy on all info, can’t guarantee no bias no projection, not using there full names because guess what, so less info about them together if you google their names together my blog appears on the 1st page)
JV was raised in Switzerland. Did math and computer science in Switzerland. He found out he needed an engineer background to enter F1 so went back to England to get a master in that. Got to work at BAR(later Honda, Brawn, Merc) eventually. (He had a billion interview on him hustling his way to BAR but that’s not relevant to the story here)
Ant was raised in a middle class family. Went to Karting with brother and he was more interested and started to compete in Karting. He worked his way to Formula Ford and was lucky to get a sponsorship( the sponsor bought a house and let him lived there). His sponsor talked to him about career choice, at that time, test driver made a decent amount of money and that f1 seat seems a bit too distant. So Ant ended up in BAR around the same time as JV
Well JV was not that much of an engineering guy. His job going into Honda was a combination of some data analysis, coordination between departments and some engineer. There was no proper strategist job back in the days so he just bounced around. (The untold interview he said he was suppose to fix an electronic problem on the front wing, Evan Short ended up doing that. Not saying that he knew nothing but inferring from his other interview, he definitely needed help). (Even now strategist have “low” status in the team since only the principal strategist can go to the track and everyone back home’s job is make sure to feed enough info through TR that the principal’s eyes are always on track).
Meanwhile, Ant was doing amazing as a test driver, too amazing that Honda was reluctant to release him to do actual f1 racing. He missed a seat(which team I forgot) but Honda eventually agreed to let him race for Super Aguri in 2007. That team didn’t last.
Then came the Brawn year. Before 2009, JV and Ant were already starting to worry about their jobs and registered a company together. Company never took off because here comes Brawn GP.
After the championship, our champ Jenson was scheduled to do victory laps in the factory for the fans but he already buggered off to McLaren. Ant did the laps and JV was his engineer for that.
Then came the Merc years.
Ant was doing a bunch of different things then: racing in WEC, driving the Merc simulator and later became a sky sport host. Ant missed the chance of winning a championship(he also missed a podium due to bad luck in 2007) but he got one eventually. When Alonso returned to F1, Ant interviewed him asking if Alonso remembered them racing against each other in WEC, Alonso did not remember. Ant also did Jenson’s retirement interview. Ant also did some interview later saying he was too nice to be competing in this shark tank of f1, nice guy can’t win races.
JV was doing a bunch of different things in Merc as well. He was in charge of simulator, junior team, esport team and development data analysis software for premier league(honorable mention: he wrote the drivers code of conduct in 2016 to prevent Lewis and Nico fighting). Ant was a reliable simulator driver, JV was working a lot with Ant at that time(JV didn’t need to be present for the crowd strike thing but he was there…) (Also they Merc’s equipment to tune cars for their friend’s Karting league, naughty boys). I want to believe JV cares about drivers he works with, especially junior team (he went up to hug Esteban Ocon(Merc junior driver) after his 2021 Hungarian gp win(Merc strategy was a disaster that race)
Ant said JV is one of his best friends. He phoned JV a lot during the Honda and Brawn years. Ant also texted JV to ask for technical details when he started to comment for Sky( Ant joked in 2023 pre season test that JV is getting to busy with his TP job to reply to his texts). JV also bugged Ant for a VIP pass during Ant’s LeMans years. JV had spent time with Ant’s family doing barbecue for JV’s birthday. JV is Ant’s kids’ god father.
Projection time: Brawn and Merc years treated JV so well he probably is a bit idealist about things now. The stuff he said at Williams make sense if your work experience is a streak of championships. JV will probably never get a reality check so hard the way Ant exit F1(divorce? Idw). Knowing they are good friends make me happy.

AU details and cyberware rundown under cut~
Yagami and Kaito are Night City P.I.s with the base of operation in Kabuki. Sugiura and Tsukumo are from Watson too, but eventually moved to the Glen, Heywood, working there and to the south, covering Pacifica and Dogtown as well. Kaito and Higashi are ex-corporates who used to work for Tojo Inc. (Arasaka affiliate). As for the cyberware, - Yagami has extensive optics enhancement, full HD zoom and recording software and a set of visual analysis tools installed. He uses Raven Microcyber as operating system, enough to give him some variety of quickhacking, Self-ICE (recommended by Sugiura), Adrenaline Converter to get faster, Optical Camo and ThreatEvac (some sort of nod to EX Burst). Not pictured: post-Incident external visor because of fried visual nerves. - Kaito has Gorilla Arms. Come on, what else? Enhanced sense — visual, hearing, smell — implants. He also gets Nano Plating in his arms and enhanced joints. - Sugiura and Tsukumo are netrunners. Outside of both sporting extensive hacking equipment, starting with cyberdecks (Sugiura got Tetratronic Rippler, and Tsukumo relies on Biotech Σ) and Self-ICE, and ending with direct interfaces to connect to the Net, Sugiura also uses Synaptic Accelerators and extensive muscle and joint implants. He got the double jump! - Higashi doesn't have much, outside what's absolutely necessary (or installed during his years in corporation), though he ended fancying the smart links.

Teto said they they have a theory why carlos felt in the car how he felt and they will test the hypothesis in Japan, so I think they have "studying the data" part covered. Also as a data analyst, I can tell you that you don't need to sit in group in round table of a conference room to study and analysis data, it can easily be done individually with effective communication with team it you have the right software program. He and his engineers can do this from their respective places then discuss new theory/hypothesis and finding over virtual meetings. Now the sim work, drivers can't just work in the factory and do sim work whenever they want, it is scheduled and structured by the team. Simulator is also used by developers, engineers for upgrades or new development for the car. It's not like he can hop into the simulator whenever he has a bad race weekend.
The bottom line is he is someone who is in this field for 10 years and ha changed team 4 times. He knows what and when needs to be done and he is the most hardworking driver in the grid. So there is absolutely no need to stress out and think that he is slacking in his work when you see him living his life in between race weekend.
P.S. I am not saying these to the specific anon who realised and said that they are probably overthinking, but there has been a trend recently among a section of Carlos fans specially on X. They "worry" that he is not pushing himself hard enough. It's been like this since the beginning of the year when they said he isn't training hard like last year, he isn't going to factory enough, he isn't going to china from Australia asap etc etc. There is always an accusatory tone to it. Idk why but I think we will enjoy the sport more in general when we stop trying to micromanage something that we have hardly any knowledge of

I don't know if those fans (I am not speaking about my anons here) are seriously "concerned", but if they are, they should question themselves because why are they doubting a guy who has been in F1 for 11 seasons, has raced for 5 teams and is known in the paddock for his technical knowledge and his hard work.

I do rate Carlos high and like him but the race engineer or automotive engineer allegations need to stop. Already being an F1 driver is a life-long investment into understanding many things and honing your skills. Your driving skills.
This is a very complicated team sport and engineering sport, and I think people really downplay just how much engineering work there is behind the cars. Make Carlos use ANSYS software to model the structure of a car, make Carlos run a CFD simulation and analysis, make him generate iso-surfaces in the X velocity and then identify wake regions/flow separation and THEN make him come up with modifications within the regulations that help reduce drag 🙄. And all the shit I'm saying is like the most most basic part that we are taught in a bachelor's mechanical engineering degree. I could not even begin to think or imagine what actual f1 engineers do.
So, please, this man who is a good driver does not need to, nor does he understand the car like the engineers on the williams factory do. He understands it in a different way, and his feedback is very valuable, sure. But god, please, he isn't designing that car. Why can't people understand??
And no he's not creating better strategies. What drivers see and know as they drive is a very very small percentage of all the information the pitwall and strategist have. And even if he was fed that info, he'd have to be a genius to parse all that out. People (rightly) complain about Norris' engineer Will giving him almost a riddle to chose what Tyre he wants, can't imagine what giving a driver ALL the info the team is considering would look like. They wouldn't even have the time 💀.
Sorry my rant is over but this pisses me off badly. The way people will overstate the role of the driver for both positive and negative agendas is such a pet peeve of mine.

 I'm not a big fan of Crystal Dynamics. An awful lot of their games just don't appeal to me. They are dark-looking, pure American-based software. Now, there's nothing wrong with American-based software since there is a market and fans to support it. Heck, even the best games on today's gaming platform are all Western-made - God of War, Horizon, Starfield, Knights of the Old Republic, a lot of it. However, 3D Baseball: The Majors did actually impress me.
The quality of the 3D in this game far outdoes Sega's Greatest Nine (World Series Baseball) series with ease. Even the main player is polygon-generated without looking all squarish. The commentary is also pretty good although the voice does tend to become annoying after a while.
3D Baseball plays a pretty decent game of baseball as well. You've got all your options to play with and stats to keep you happy as well. In fact, I'd say that 3D Baseball is one of the better baseball sims out there on the Saturn. Well worth checking out. You will have to put up with a poor-quality FMV ad for Pandemonium though before the game starts. This is quite odd since Pandemonium was released by Bandai in Japan under the name of Magical Hoppers along with brand new characters and looks far better than the Pandemonium original.
