Request: Jed and octavius dancing on/playing the piano like in that scene from the movie Big.

You've never done that when I got close to you before. Why? None of your business. Tell me, or you can't leave.
KISEKI: DEAR TO ME Ep. 10
#kiseki: dear to me#kisekiedit#kdtm#kiseki dear to me#ai di x chen yi#chen yi x ai di#nat chen#chen bowen#louis chiang#chiang tien#jiang dian#uservid#userspring#userrain#pdribs#userspicy#userjjessi#*cajedit#*gif#every time i color this scene i get stronger. anyway there were so many expressions i just couldnt leave out. the deep breath ai di takes#steeling himself before admitting it. & the way chen yi absorbs it the way he blinks away & his mouth opens before focusing on ai di again#thinking about it. thinking about four years of attacks ai di had to withstand. understanding the way he is now but hating how its happened#and also the guilt hes gotta feel from that! & yet thats overcome in this moment by a need to not let ai di put a wall between them#which is what ai di keeps trying to do. he admits a vulnerable thing and then deflects FOUR TIMES in this scene. first when sleeping#& choking chen yi when woken(& avoiding when questioned abt it). second by dropping his guard & worrying when he finds chen yi injured#& twice more shown in this set. he has to shake it off he has to put his wall back up but his instincts are strongest & chen yi SEES them.#you can see the way ai di wants to relax into that hug. the way he just wants to BREATHE but instead uses those breaths to defend himself#he chooses to flirt hoping it'll make chen yi back off. hoping he'll stop asking him to be vulnerable. but chen yi knows his tricks now.#and hes not going to let ai di continue believing he doesnt CARE about him. its poetic the way he gives him a taste of his own medicine#like it's *strategic*. he watches and learns. he knows his own influence over ai di he knows that HE is ai di's weakness. it's..chef's kiss

Okay hot take I guess, but I don't think the last stand invalidated any of the hard work The Bad Kids put into school work junior year.
Brennan said the reason they had those two "free passes" on exam questions was because Gorgug earned it through his studying. Mechanically yes, they work as free passes, but storyline-wise Brennan said they represent "academic resources," which The Bad Kids wouldn't have access to unless they had studied so hard.
#i get it FEELS like they could have just taken the last stand at the beginning of the year but like... but they probably would have failed#fantasy high junior year#d20 fhjy#spoilers#d20 fantasy high spoilers#and like idk story wise dont you tgink all that work helped them learn to strategize so they could kick ass?

it's so cute that 6x05 had soulless Sam standing there salivating over Dean getting force-fed vampire blood in a barely-metaphorical back-alley rape scene, then went "it was a strategic-value boner. he was hard enough to pound nails for entirely calculating reasons. what reason could Sam possibly have for not being normal about Dean 'panic room detox' Winchester getting corrupted into monsterdom by some sexually predatory creep dripping blood into his mouth?"
("hahaha what subtextual implications about soullessness as a response to trauma and moral injury. a wizard did it and now Sam can't feel feelings, and if we filmed it like he was standing there jerking it then no we didn't." oh season 6, your sickodom is iconic and your deniability is barely even plausible anymore and i love that for you. keep doing hot girl shit forever.)
#not that strategic value had NOTHING to do with it#soulless likes winning and being good at hunting and he learned from the best about the utility of using dean as monster bait#but whoooof the implications. the narrative resonances. the RAMMIES bro#and i'm not even being facetious about this being hot girl shit. of course the trauma subtext was on purpose i've seen that one sera quote#and i enjoy how fucking wild this season's choices are about how much of the quiet part the show gets to say out loud#soulless!sam#sam winchester#dean winchester#live free or twi hard#wincest#supernatural#spn s6#meta

Thinking about the thing that kept happening to me back around my early twenties when I would try to tell people factual details about my experience of traumatic bonding/conditioning/being shaped by [x] and they assumed I was exaggerating self-deprecatingly and went out of their way to reassure me that I was more than my abuse or whatever.
#this doesn't happen so much anymore because a) the few people still in my life from that time have learned better#and b) i have become way more strategic about disclosure#but in retrospect that was a revealing phenomenon and also miserable#personal#trauma#traumatic bonding

Oof. Everything's spinning.
After that last battle, Emmet is going to verrrry seriously consider banning the move Poison Gas. The ventilation in here can only do so much.
...Why not use Toxic instead, anyway?
Kudaugust Day 8: Poisonous
#kudaugust#kudaugust 2024#submas#subway boss emmet#submas emmet#emmet#kudari#my art#looked it up. i think there are three pokemon total (the magby line) that can learn poison gas but not toxic#i mean. technically poison gas DOES target both pokemon in double battles. but i still think toxic is better strategically#hey. emmet. maybe consider moving to a different train car?#(except he'd probably topple over the second he let go of that pole)#sorry emmet

You know what’s great. What’s really great. Characters lying by saying true stuff but in a misleading way. It’s sooooooo fun. Anyway idk if this will make it through the notes process intact but I scribbled this down to illustrate an angle for an as yet unwritten scene.
There was a sound, distant, but unmistakable, of swords on swords, in some room or hallway not too far from theirs. Lan Wangji glanced between Jiang Cheng and Jin Guangyao sharply, and then moved to position himself by the door, Bichen drawn from its sheath and at the ready. The trust in the gesture did something funny to Jiang Cheng’s heart, even as he faced this absolute fucking viper of a man.
But Jiang Cheng could lie, too. “Jin-zongzhu,” Jiang Cheng said. “We both know I’ve been in similar straits, when my own sect was unstable. You’re A-Ling’s uncle, and it’s been your job, too, all these years, to be my sister’s protector in Carp Tower, ever since your brother was killed. Shouldn’t that make you my family? Whatever is happening here today, you can trust me to look out for my family.”
#writing is terrible#I don’t think JC defaults to lies or manipulations#but the man’s been running a political unit for over a decade#I’m sure he’s capable of strategic lying and being convincing about it#but he’s blunt enough for enough of the time that he can slip in the lies more easily#and have them go unquestioned#than someone who’s so known for fuckery#that no one really trusts anything that they say#habitual liars kind of shoot themselves in the foot credibility wise#people learn not to trust them#people who are mostly honest can pull off far more consequential lies#buoyed by that reputation for honesty#anyway every word that JC says here is true! and honest!#but it does add up to a lie because he is gonna shank this guy as soon as he can

How does blood magic work exactly? Is it only for healing or are their other ways it can be used? If so, how? And has it changed at all from how it was used/preformed back in Renzo’s time?
"blood magic" means something different in Inver than it does to the church of Suzette. In Inver it's just another type of witchcraft - one with a bit of stigma attached, sure, but it's more or less like any other magical practice. Bearing in mind that each witch has an entirely unique way to do magic borne of a unique relationship with their patron or educator. So blood magic has no strict boundaries or rules as a class of magic, it's just magic that uses blood to achieve an end. For Islin that end appears to be healing(?)
To the church of Suzette, blood magic is any form of heretical practice which requires a human sacrifice. Islin's... abilities... do require that sacrifice. Importantly here, whether or not the practitioner is only sacrificing their OWN blood/other body part etc is not relevant, though there's an undoubtedly greater punishment if you do sacrifice others. Even limited to your own blood you are still "desecrating a human body (your own) by supernatural means".
The reason they come down HARD on blood magic - more than people native to Inver do - is because otherworld magic is somewhat limited to the region around the Road. Renzo, who founded the church, comes from the italian peninsula, far from the Ruad. The wars waged during the foundation of his state as well as the surrounding states were violent and bloody, and the magic used - their esoterica - was not in any way related to the faeries of Inver. It was magic of a different source, used in such a way that it left permanent marks on the region's cultural perception of death and blood magic. It is deeply unacceptable there. In Renzo's time, any corpse could be conscripted, and bands of soldiers would slaughter whole villages just to conscript their unwilling bodies into the war.
The termination of that war resulted in a unilateral blanket ban on the practice.
#mvf#setting: inver#im a lil tired but u get me... the magic in inver is rarely used as war magic due to the country's isolation#and the fact that it's so resource-poor it's never a strategic target#in the south of the continent the attitudes are vastly different. suzette attempts to press that ban on everyone#islin's flavour of blood magic is a bit weird but we'll learn about it. later

A lord would have gold for a certainty, they all did; perhaps he would pay some of Lord Tywin's own sellswords to take her to Riverrun. Father had always said that most sellswords would betray anyone for enough gold. (Arya VII, ACOK)
One thing about Arya, her chapters are going to be casually littered with little lessons and tidbits of information that have proven relevant to characters with leadership positions
#arya stark#asoiaf#I was looking for a different quote when I found this but tbh small stuff like this is what makes me think she'll be a leader 🤷🏾♀️#it's not even just the knowledge itself it's the fact that she thinks of how she can use that fact to her advantage and plan around it#Arya has a very strategic/analytical mindset and it's very underrated#I'm also never going to stop talking about how much she learns + remembers from Ned cause it's a lot#low-key feel like it's George's way of supplementing her lack of official leadership experience#such a small thing but then there are so many moments like this that add up into something significant

I <3 COMPETITIVE POKEMON!!! YAY VGC!!
stealing this image from my good friend @moonlit-ripples
#to be clear my relationship to competitive pokémon is like my relationship to real life sports#like let’s say basketball#have i played it myself? a bit. am i any good at it? no not really#not at all who am i kidding#do i have fun playing it casually? for sure#do i know a lot about it as a spectator? ya i’ve picked up all the main ideas#could i tell you what is currently happening on the scene? no#do i watch matches? i’ll never actively seek one but if it’s on in front of me yeeeeah baby!#do i love hearing everything i can bc i find it super fun? yessss#and lastly (this one does not also apply to basketball) do i understand all those memes i reblogged earlier? about 90% of them#asks#thanks anon#but fr i nerd out so hard i’m so glad i learned all this stuff#the extent of my knowledge and skill could never get me to win actual competitive matches other than getting lucky on silly ones w friends#but it helped me a LOT in-game in violet. especially in the indigo disk. couldn’t imagine doing that as a casual without just overlevelling#tbh#and even when it isn’t that hard. the indigo disk and actual comp made me realize that actual strategizing is FUN#it makes me so sad when people approach comp with such bad faith.#these guys loooove pokémon and they loooove their mons!#they are fun and they love fun (unless you’re one of the infamous ones like lavos lol)#wish ppl didnt look down on them for being nerds or act like they are lesser fans for engaging with the media differently
