when i find myself in times of 'but i already sketched out a backstory' trouble, the legacy of george lucas comes to me, speaking words of wisdom 'you can change your mind.'
It had been centuries since a handful of monarchs had been so paranoid as to have their helpmeets undergo facial reconstruction surgery, creating a truly inseparable dual being containing the monarch and the decoy. And it had been sixty-seven days shy of four standard years since he last saw Sifo-Dyas, on that wrecked plain of Serenno in the shadow of the cliff-side palace—in the shadow of Dooku’s own future. In the shadow of a different palace, he found his hand straying to his side. To the pocket where that old communicator sat, silent for three standard years, eight standard months, and twenty-four standard days. It beeped, and there was only one person who could contact it. Dooku answered and found himself disappointed to find that it was a recorded message. He paused it, feeling the frown manifest in the corners of his mouth as he examined the projected image. In the image the holoprojector broadcast, Sifo-Dyas looked— Dooku had to be honest to himself, at least. Sifo-Dyas did not look entirely unwell. To Dooku’s experienced eye, it looked like his old companion was in the second stage of the aftermath of his visions, after some semblance of rationality has returned. There were sheets and blankets pulled up like a cocoon, his hair free (my hair hurts, Dooku remembers being frantically whispered to, once), enough to have slipped down over one eye while the other squinted into the holo-transmitter. It could just have been Dooku’s imagination, but Sifo-Dyas’s face looked to have creases pressed into it, no doubtably from the hoard of blankets that had probably grown even larger over the years since Dooku’s departure from the order. He remembered Sifo-Dyas loving to burrow his entire head into anything approaching soft, from pillows to Dooku’s own stomach. Once. Would it still count as a present proclivity even if it has been far more than nearly four standard years since Dooku had found himself woken up by Sifo-Dyas’s cold nose pressed into his own side? Should it still count if it has been far more than nearly four standard years since Dooku was woken up by Sifo-Dyas’s cold nose pressed into Dooku’s own side? Dooku decided that the crease marks, verifiable or not, supported his conclusion.

i know it's now the modal (and correct) opinion that the prequels are generally good and i'm very grateful for the cultural reevaluation of hayden's performance, but i'm watching the phantom menace for the first time in many years and jake lloyd is also excellent and it's incredible that jake and hayden have such a clear throughline between nine- and nineteen-year old anakin
#it's unproductive to 'rank' who got more hate (and truthfully it's probably a wash) but the backlash to tpm and jake's anakin specifically#was SO noxious and aggressive (partly because it was the first installment after ~20 years) that i think even i remembered this movie as#being the weakest of the three#and perhaps it is in some regards but not in jake lloyd's performance! not in anakin!#the anakin that yells 'yippee!!!' when watto tells him to clean the racks and then he can go home --> the anakin who giddily flies as#recklessly as possible and drives obi-wan crazy. i've never noticed such a clear emotional / verbal / physical throughline between the two#anyway. this is something we all care very deeply about i know

Hey, welcome. I love to hear other people's headcanons about my husband (obiwan). And I also leave a request if you are open ofc 🫶🏻
-🪷
assorted obi-wan headcanons a/n thanks for the req! i have a ton of random hcs for obi-wan & they're so fun to actually write down lmao. hope you're having a nice day (..◜ᴗ◝..) tags gender neutral reader. sfw & nsfw (at the end). alcohol mentioned.
silly / random
vegetarian although he rarely has the time to cook for himself. i don't see him as the holier-than-thou type, just never liked meats. probably the texture?
a few years after the battle on mustafar he buzzed his hair again (lmao) but ended up hating it & wore a hood until it was mullet-length.
his living area in coruscant is completely devoid of personality to discourage lingering. literally the most basic furniture and plain, dark walls. unscented everything. sterile like a fancy hotel room.
never listens to music and will not give you his opinion on a song even if your life depended on it.
very modest with alcohol. only got super drunk once in his life (padawan years) and tried to irritate everyone around him. now, he has such amazing self control & hardly anyone can tell if he's been drinking. to make matters worse, he's not a social drinker. visits the corner of a bar on special occasions. you learned to ask if he's 'had a few' if he's acting sassier than usual.
when alone, he sleeps flat on his back with one arm folded over his chest. only one pillow needed.
this man hates fizzy drinks for some reason.
when the weather is cold, his nose area and lips get really dry. probably keeps one of those mini moisturizing balms on-hand and doesn't care if people think he looks weird with it smeared on.
romantic
obi-wan's body is a furnace. i don't make the rules. always so warm and cuddly. dizzy and feverish. if you're laying with him, nine times out of ten you'll have to cool off at some point.
while we're on the topic— he cuddles you in his sleep. always murmuring your name and tightening his grip on your waist.
whatever your hair care routine is, no matter what hair type you've got, he learned it and will offer to wash / braid / cut / dye / oil it for you. every. single. time. have you seen his hair? he knows what he's doing.
initiates hand-holding mostly by putting his hand on top of yours and waiting for you to lace them together.
in his younger years, he was a shameless flirt / womanizer as an act of rebellion against the 'rules,' but post-tpm era, he's a lot more serious about it (though some witty moments come through after he feels comfy). more interested in inviting you over for tea because you're out of teabags, or offering to clean / fix things for you. things you can almost brush off as friendliness.
yes, i'm dropping hints that his (giving) love language is acts of service.
loves having his back scratched, though he refuses to ask for it. he has no idea that it's a common relaxing gesture— thinks it's some quirk of yours that you sometimes do while zoned out. stays completely still so you forget to stop.
mild nsfw
this man does not wear any sort of undergarments. sorry. this isn't even something i care about yet i feel it so strongly for him. he's constantly wearing so many layers of soft, loose-fitting linen that he simply doesn't need to.
would never sleep naked, though. he finds that inappropriate and has a ton of robes / loungewear.
will carry you around (and carry you to bed) no matter the occasion. possibly my favorite thing about obi-wan is that he doesn't have a concept of the performative aspect of romance nowadays; he won't pick you up because he wants to make you feel small or protected or something to boost his own ego. he wants to get you where he wants (needs) you as fast as possible while remaining his sensual, old-fashioned self.
super loud. this is barely even a headcanon. he's got a range of grunts & high, breathy, open-mouthed moans. i need him.
i don't see him being stereotypically 'dominant' (he's not the type to care about rigid labels or expectations and is quite the gentleman) but once in a while when he's in those sarcastic moods where he wants to annoy you a bit, this will translate into the bedroom.
still gets shy / timid when you step out of the bath or shower in a robe or get dressed in front of him.
hardly ever tells you directly that he's turned on. you can tell by the way he kisses you or how pink his cheeks are. it works.
see above when i talked abt his love language— he is not above using acts of service to get in your pants. he offers to do other things for you once he's got you happy and taken care of. i said what i said.

Have YOU got an old Windows PC Microsoft has told you can't run Windows 11? It's time to give it a new life!
How to install Windows 11 on unsupported PC Hardware using Rufus. You can also disable some other Windows 11 bullshit like data harvesting and needing a Microsoft account.
It has been in the news a lot lately that Windows 11 isn't allowed to be installed on PCs without certain requirements, including the TPM 2.0, a chip that was only included in PCs made in 2018 or later. This means that once Windows 10 stops receiving security updates, those PCs will not be able to (officially) run a safe, updated version of Windows anymore. This has led to an estimated 240 million PCs bound for the landfill. Thanks Microsoft! I get you don't want to be seen as the insecure one, but creating this much waste can't be the solution.
(I know nerds, Linux is a thing. I love you but we are not having that conversation. If you want to use Linux on an old PC you are already doing it and you don't need to tell me about it. People need Windows for all sorts of reasons that Linux won't cut.)
So lately I have been helping some under privileged teens get set up with PCs. Their school was giving away their old lab computers, and these kids would usually have no chance to afford even a basic computer. They had their hard drives pulled so I have been setting them up with SSDs, but the question was, what to do about the operating system? So I looked into it and I found out there IS actually a way to bypass Microsoft's system requirement and put Windows 11 on PCs as old as 2010.
You will need: Rufus: An open source ISO burning tool.
A Windows 11 ISO: Available from Microsoft.
A USB Flash Drive, at least 16GB.
A working PC to make the ISO, and a PC from 2018 or older you want to install Windows 11 on.
Here is the guide I used, but I will put it in my own words as well.
Download your Windows 11 ISO, and plug in your USB drive. It will be erased, so don't have anything valuable on it. Run Rufus, select your USB drive in the Device window, and select your Windows 11 ISO with the Select button. (There is supposed to be a feature in Rufus to download your ISO but I couldn't get it to work.?
Choose standard windows installation, and follow the screenshot for your settings. Once you are done that, press Start, and then the magic happens. Another window pops up allowing you to remove the system requirements, the need for a microsoft account, and turn off data collecting. Just click the options you want, and press ok to write your iso to a drive.
From there you just need to use the USB drive to install windows. I won't go into details here, but here are some resources if you don't know how to do it.
Boot your PC from a USB Drive
Install Windows 11 from USB Drive
If you had a licensed copy of Windows 10, Windows 11 will already be licensed. If you don't, then perhaps you can use some kind of... Activation Scripts for Microsoft software, that will allow you to activate them. Of course I cannot link such tools here. So there you go, now you can save a PC made from before 2018 from the landfill, and maybe give it to a deserving teen in the process. The more we can extend the lives of technology and keep it out of the trash, the better.
Additional note: This removes the requirement for having 4GB Minimum of RAM, but I think that requirement should honestly be higher. Windows 11 will be unusable slow on any system with below 8GB of RAM. 8GB is the minimum I think you should have before trying this but it still really not enough for modern use outside of light web and office work. I wouldn't recommend trying this on anything with 4GB or less. I am honestly shocked they are still selling brand new Windows 11 PCs with 4GB of ram. If you're not sure how much RAM you have, you can find out in the performance tab of Task Manager in Windows, if you click the More Details icon on the bottom right. If you don't have enough, RAM for old systems is super cheap and widely available so it would definitely be worth upgrading if you have a ram starved machine you'd like to give a new life.

btw when windows 10 goes out of service, move to windows 11 or linux. by staying on an OS which doesn't get security updates, your computer is much more at risk for attacks.
also yes everyone hates windows updates it makes you restart ur computer or whatever but please do them for security reasons. it is also a good idea in general to restart your computer once every few days regardless.
Windows 11 is perfectly fine for me as long as you:
DO NOT link a microsoft account to it
Remove all the copilot and ai crap and revert a few things like the right click menu. you can do it registry tweaks but winaero tweaker is a much easier GUI option. it works for windows 10 as well i would recommend it
i cannot stress this enough (assuming those two things), other than some UI stuff it is literally the same exact operating system and i got used to the change almost instantly
The settings app is a lot better on windows 11, and the control panel is still there and still the same
It's not any better or worse performing for games or productivity.
Nothing that i previously used on windows 10 broke, and there wasnt any huge annoyances or issues that windows 10 didn't also have.
I AM AWARE of the TPM 2.0 chip requirement. TPM 2.0 has been standardized for 10 years now, if your computer's motherboard was made in that time, it very likely has it. Windows might say you dont have a tpm 2.0 chip, you probably do, it's just not enabled, mess around in your bios, look up guides and stuff.
if you actually don't as your computer is quite old, i would try out linux honestly it is much nicer towards older hardware and can run much better on it (basically any hardware actually).

« [F]rom the very first exchange she maintained the initiative, kept Trump on the defensive the entire time and simply dominated him. I don’t see any way to contest that basic verdict.
She set a tone at the very start when she walked right into his space to shake his hand and made him almost pull back into himself in response. She was in charge and never stopped being in charge. »
Josh Marshall at Talking Points Memo (TPM) on Kamala Harris's debate victory over Trump.
Even Fox News knows it's impossible to deny that Trump did badly in the debate. Sad!
Even Fox News Acknowledges Reality: Trump Blew the Debate
One problem for Republicans is that Trump just doesn't know how to act presidential.
He's trapped himself in the shtick of being a reality-averse populist reality show performer who thinks that making up increasingly outrageous lies will always work for him.
And even if Trump wanted to change, he can't because he's too narcissistic and lazy to put in the effort. He fires associates when his flaws trip him up but the firings do him no good because his flaws remain.

Further thoughts on film-Anakin vs. TCW Anakin....
(Anyone who really dislikes TCW, turn away now, this post is probably not for you!)
I've already covered most of this territory in previous posts, so some of this might be a bit of a rehash. But it's been on my mind again lately. I will preface this by saying that I truly understand why some fans aren't into TCW Anakin and I don't mean to suggest that anyone *has* to LIKE him or be totally happy with that version of the character. (While personally I adore the Skyguy persona, even I have major issues with how TCW writes his dialogue, at times.)
However. Sometimes I feel like certain Anakin fans are attached to an idea of the character that is not quite…expansive enough to factor in all his various facets. People forget that Anakin was first portrayed not only by the Original Trilogy actors (James Earl Jones, David Prowse, and Sebastian Shaw), but also by Jake Lloyd in TPM. TCW Anakin has a great deal of TPM’s little Ani in him, and I personally don’t mind that at all. Don't get me wrong, Hayden’s performance in AotC and RotS is iconic. I adore it and I will always staunchly defend his Anakin, who remains my own personal favourite. However, I think some fans mistakenly have this idea that film-Anakin is nothing but a perpetual sad-boi who is openly crying all the time. It’s simply not the case. It may come across that way since we mainly see him at pivotal moments in AotC and RotS -- these are huge turning points in his arc, when all his intense emotions boil over and spill out. But a) he is not like this every moment of the day, and b) he is not supposed to be a static character. Anakin changes greatly between AotC and RotS, that’s kind of the point. He grows in capability and confidence (with regards to his own abilities as well as his interpersonal relationships), and in his Force powers, too. It’s like people forget that Anakin Skywalker is CANONICALLY an extremely powerful Force user as well as a highly competent starpilot and capable and charismatic general in the Clone Wars. The RotS novelisation even portrays him as such. That famous quote about how he is the best there ever was and he knows it. Also that observation Mace makes that Anakin walks and moves and has a 'presence’ like the Holonet hero he is. And indeed, the fact Anakin is known as 'The Hero With No Fear’ shows that he has a very dashing 'persona’ that he is known for publicly but which merely masks the inner turmoil he’s experiencing. We see more of that inner turmoil in the films simply because, as the viewers, we are there to observe his private moments with Padme, who is one of the few people he actually expresses his emotional struggles *to*. Traditionally-masculine heroes are supposed to be stoic (not overly emotional) and self-sufficient (not needing to rely on anyone other than themselves). Ironically, this is what the *Jedi* want him to be. And Anakin’s tragedy is that he’s struggling to fit into the Old Order’s mold and adhere to it….when in reality it’s not what he needs. He needs the space and permission to openly feel and express his intense emotions before they overwhelm him. Likewise, he is repeatedly shown to desperately need the presence of his loved ones around him in order to hold onto the best parts of himself. A male character being portrayed as *needing* others at all in the first place is the very first sign that he’s not just some male power fantasy.
All in all, the idea that TCW Anakin is solely reduced to a macho ideal is not accurate. I still see him very similarly to film-Anakin: as a commentary on how attempting to mold a loving young boy into an obedient slave Jedi weapon of war will ultimately backfire when that young man is eventually consumed and enslaved once more by the very darkness he was fighting. While the literal shedding of his tears may not be shown on-screen during the TCW series, the intensity of his emotion is. The desperation he feels to hold onto his loved ones at all costs absolutely comes across. And, like film-Anakin, I would argue that TCW Anakin is portrayed, not as aspirational, but as a pathetic figure. (‘Pathetic’ as in the word pathos.) The sheer amount of times he is tortured and tormented on screen, shown to have various flaws and vulnerabilities, and the amount of times the audience is repeatedly reminded that he will eventually meet a tragic fate, all attest to that. The point of the Clone Wars series is to illustrate the famous line that Yoda speaks in the Original Trilogy: 'Wars not make one great.’

So I rewatched The Phantom Menace for the first time since 1999 ...
The last (and only) time I saw it before this was in theaters when I was 13. Some random thoughts upon rewatching it as an adult:
I am laughing so hard that Qui-Gon drags bb!Anakin into the middle of the Trade Federation's occupation of Naboo. Of course, I remembered that Anakin blows up the droid control ship at the end, but I had completely forgotten that it was because nobody stops to think that maybe it's not a good idea to take a 9-year-old into the middle of a brutal occupation. Like, even though the Jedi didn't want to train him, couldn't Anakin have hung out in the Jedi creche until Qui-Gon was done with the Naboo mission? Or once Qui-Gon and friends get to Naboo, couldn't Anakin have hidden out with some non-combatant Gungans at their sacred place?
Apparently no, because instead Qui-Gon brings him on the dangerous mission to capture the Trade Federation Viceroy. And at one point, Anakin is literally charging with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Padme straight into enemy blasterfire! Just ... amazing.
The Palpatine-Padme dynamic in TPM is delicious. The subplot of Palpatine manipulating Padme into starting the proceedings that make him Chancellor is one of my favorites in the movie. It also adds such an interesting layer of complexity to Padme's character that she's this bold, competent queen in TPM--but she's also Palpatine's pawn.
Good to see that the whole people-sucking-at-communication-in-the-prequels thing starts here. When Obi-Wan tells Qui-Gon that he thinks Anakin is dangerous, he is totally within hearing range of Anakin!
And Obi-Wan apparently got this from Qui-Gon, because when Qui-Gon is dying, he doesn't say a single nice thing about Obi-Wan or about their relationship. No "I'm so proud of you" or "I'll always be with you" or any other heartfelt death scene sentiments. Nope, it's just, "Train the boy." I guess you could argue that Qui-Gon isn't thinking straight because of the whole being fatally stabbed thing, but still. Ouch!
Jake Lloyd is adorable as bb!Anakin. I liked Lloyd's performance as a 13-year-old and I still like it as an adult! I really don't know why people hated him so much when this movie came out. I spent the whole movie wanting to give bb!Anakin the biggest hug. There is a lot that can be criticized about TPM, but Lloyd's acting isn't one of them for me.

Do you think Ahsoka may have been a bad influence on Luke? This was a thought came to my mine a while ago.
When they first met, Luke was trying to rebuild the Jedi Order, while Ahsoka still harbored resentment toward the Order. Could she have been the reason for Luke's coldness toward Grogu and his disillusionment with the Jedi Order during the sequels? She might have given him a warped retelling of what the Jedi Order was like. Perhaps she told him that Jedi are not supposed to show concern for younglings or Padawans. She may have also emphasized her belief that the Jedi were at fault for Anakin's fall and becoming Vader.
There are definitely more factors that led to Luke disillusionment but she had a roll in that and we didn't even notice.
To begin with, I don't think Luke was cold to Grogu at all. I think he was FIRM, perhaps, and HONEST about the choices available to him and the consequences of each choice, but that doesn't make him cold. It was a serious conversation and a serious choice that would define years of Grogu's life, so I think Luke treated it with the gravitas it needed. Luke's conversation with Grogu was, to me, not truly any colder than the Council's conversation with Anakin in TPM. He's speaking from much the same place. He's seeing that Grogu isn't committed to being a Jedi right now, that he reacts to seeing Din's ship, and so he makes the choices that Grogu has very clear. And those choices have ALWAYS BEEN THERE, it's not like Luke is forcing this choice on Grogu out of nowhere, or creating a situation where Grogu HAS to choose, because Grogu is making that choice every single day that he is with Luke, he made it on Gideon's cruiser when he first left and has made every day since. Luke brings it up again because he thinks Grogu might need some clarity and guidance about the paths available to him and what they will ask of him.
(The caveat I will give here is that the whole choice to have Grogu be upset with the Jedi way of life and leave it behind to be a Mando was done exclusively because they wanted to keep the show going and couldn't do it without him, rather than because they felt like it was the right choice for his character, so it feels rushed and shoehorned in for no real reason because, well, it WAS. The other thing that might be making it feel "cold" to you is the whole deepfake AI aspect of Luke in these scenes. The deepfaked face and AI voice weren't capable of giving the warmth that a real actor would've been more able to get across. You can see a few behind the scenes featurettes where Mark Hamill was doing some of the lines in costume and there's so much more emotion in his delivery than in the final product. So while it may not have been intended to come across as cold, I would be willing to accept that it still DID come across as cold because of the lack of emotion in the CGI performance.)
So, with that being said, I'll try to answer your actual question.
The short is: no. For one, I barely consider the Sequel trilogy and the Mandoverse part of my personal canon at this point, I don't see a lot of redeeming qualities in either of them, I don't think the characterization in them for the pre-established characters makes any sense and often directly contradicts what we know of them already, so I just ignore it. So, two, is that because of that opinion on the Sequels, I personally believe Sequels Luke is just... not Luke at all. This isn't how Luke would have ever reacted to ANYTHING, none of his actions and choices make any sense, and I don't personally believe that there is any headcanon that would ever make me believe that it makes sense.
The longer answer is that I just don't think that makes sense for Ahsoka, either, even though the Mandoverse version of her is particularly Jedi critical. HOWEVER, she is MOSTLY critical of the Jedi in the specific context of "training Sabine." She's not really ever critical of the Jedi when we see her with Grogu during The Mandalorian and is actually relatively warm towards him initially as a fellow Order 66/Purge survivor. And nothing she says to either Din or Luke in her appearance in TBOBF was critical of the Jedi, either. And if we move away from the Mandoverse, then none of her other depictions of her post Wrong Jedi show her being critical of the Jedi Order to OTHER PEOPLE. She's rude to OBI-WAN, she's a little short with Mace, but I don't recall her saying anything critical of the Jedi when speaking with Trace and Rafa or Bo-Katan, even when Trace and Rafa were talking about their bad experiences with the Jedi and their more negative opinions, I think Ahsoka actually DEFENDED them a little. And in Rebels, she's really warm towards Kanan and Ezra, has no issue being considered a Jedi along with them, and acknowledges that the Jedi had considered protecting Force Sensitive children to be their responsibility and happily agrees to take up that responsibility along with Kanan.
So you can make a really strong argument that Ahsoka's behavior in the Ahsoka show, her critical commentary about the Jedi, isn't super in character even for her. You can also make a fairly strong argument that this behavior only comes out in certain contexts, so even if it IS "in character," it wouldn't necessarily be something she'd say to LUKE.
If Luke asked her things like "What was it like, growing up as a Jedi?" or "Can you tell me what the other Jedi were like?" or anything along those lines, I think she'd actually give a pretty positive answer. I don't think she'd really feel the need for criticism here, nor would she even WANT to bring it up. I don't think that Luke himself or the questions he might ask of her would make those more negative feelings come forward. Of course, it's always possible if he manages to figure out that she left the Jedi that he could ask about that and that this could cause her to start having more negative feelings that impacted her answers to questions, but I think that IN GENERAL, she'd have nice things to say still. The Jedi were her family, they were GOOD PEOPLE, she loved growing up as a Jedi, she had so many friends that she loved, so many people she still mourns. I personally believe that the Ahsoka we saw in Rebels and even the Ahsoka we saw in The Mandalorian would choose to only remember the positive things when speaking to someone else about them. Her pain is hers and it doesn't even truly MATTER anymore.
But when training Sabine, she's faced with the question of what to KEEP from her own training and what she wants to discard. Her pain matters more now because it will impact what she chooses to pass on to a student who claims to want to be a Jedi. And of course there's always The Anakin Of It All bringing in even more complicated messy feelings, too. So I'd kind-of be willing to buy that, even if she usually only ever has kind things to say when speaking to other people, that the situation with Sabine would bring out her most critical opinions.
(Of course, I genuinely hate the Ahsoka show with the power of a thousand burning suns, I think that Jedi Sabine is one of the stupidest choices I have ever seen in a Star Wars show which is saying a LOT, and so I don't want ANY OF IT anywhere near my own canon, regardless of whether I can make it make sense with Ahsoka's characterization or not. I just don't like it, and I think every single character involved deserved far better than the absolute dumpster fire that was that show.)
Which still brings us back to the answer of: No. Luke's fucked up behavior in the Sequel trilogy cannot be blamed on Ahsoka, not even in a headcanon for me. This is one of those places where I refuse to try to headcanon away the issues and place the blame squarely on bad writing. This is too big of an issue to headcanon away and there's not enough redeeming quality in the stuff around it to try. It's a lot easier and more satisfying to me to just acknowledge that Luke is OOC as all get out in the Sequels and leave it at that. Both Luke AND Ahsoka deserve better than this headcanon.

Was thinking back on the moment where Torbin draws Mae’s blood in Episode 7, him saying that it won’t hurt, only for that to immediately be proven a lie when it does indeed hurt, just as it always does when someone sticks a needle in your arm. And it’s like, it’s cute, right? For a certain value of ‘cute.’ The ‘harmless’ lies we tell children to get them to do certain things. We’ve all been through something like that, haven’t we? An adult telling us that something won’t hurt, only for it to immediately be proven a lie?
And then I thought, oh wow. Oh, God. Mother Aniseya coached the twins on how to get around the cognitive test, but not a word was spoken about a blood test. None of the witches had any idea that the blood test was even a thing and they have no idea that the Jedi are drawing the girls’ blood on that ship.
It’s standard practice for the Jedi, I think, since while it’s been a while since I last watched TPM, I don’t recall Qui-Gon asking for Shmi’s permission before taking Anakin’s blood, but there’s something especially ugly about it here? About the Jedi clearly looking down on this marginalized sect of Force-wielders, strongarming them into gaining access to their children and then performing medical procedures on those children without their parents’ consent or without even the girls’ consent, not truly, because it’s presented to the twins as part and parcel of the test, something they have to let the Jedi do to them as part of the test. And then the results of the blood test are used by Torbin and Sol as a pretext to seize the girls. The coven is brought down when their children’s bodies are used as a Trojan horse, their violation and the secret yielded up by it taken as justification for the Jedi to insert themselves ever more deeply where they are not wanted.
