Bats on Christmas (where are they?)
Dick: with the titans, has been pleasantly buzzed since 8 am. Phone has been off since midnight. Ate his weight in Christmas dinner and candy. Will meet each of his siblings one on one every day after (Jason and him get shitfaced on new years) but currently his head is on Donna’s lap and his legs are on Roy’s and he’s in a constant state of almost sleepy bliss (no one is dead shush)
Jason: binging Xmas movies him and mom used to watch at his apartment. Alfred sent him a full spread (listen in my country we do turkey and fix ins for Xmas idk what Americans do on Xmas) and he’s just been enjoying a quiet day in a nice apartment (bc I refuse to acknowledge or accept anyone being ok with Jay not having a nice warm apartment. If Dick Gave him a safe house he bought with mob money or he actually kept his drug lord money idc he has a very pretty apartment idcidc)
Tim: with Steph and Bernard, they’re shit talking him to bond, him and dick will meet and exchange presents the day after Xmas and he’s panicking bc he completely forgot to buy dick a gift so the three of them are at the mall while Tim gets increasingly worried
Damian: mad he’s not with Dick, at the Kent’s instead. Got the most presents bc all his siblings gave him stuff and both Dick and Bruce bought way too much stuff
Bruce: doesn’t do anything for Xmas and hasn’t since Jason died. His mom was Jewish so until the kids it just wasn’t a good time for him (for obvious reasons) and now his kids don’t really come home so he had a very peaceful night in and unlike literally any other time Christmas is surprisingly quiet in Gotham.
Steph: has collected a bunch of embarrassing Tim photos and is showing and telling Bernard info Tim wouldn’t let be known on his death bed while Tim is panicking over dicks gift. She spent Xmas eve with her mom so now she’s just chilling bc she already bought Dick, Cass, Damian and Tim gifts so she’s safe.
Cass: with babs since her dad has to work they’re having a very small and quaint Xmas together but it’s nice and them
Alfred: actually goes to mass

I'm getting whumperflies from my textbook's chapter on behaviorism. The cold, calculated way it talks about behaviors completely separate from the person doing them and the emphasis on reinforcement and punishment are just so very whumpy. Generally it uses attention as an example of reinforcement, which leads to stuff like "it's effective to avoid eye contact and conversation while restraining a patient so that misbehaving isn't unintentionally reinforced through attention." Like that's one of the whumpiest things I've ever read and it's in a psychology textbook. Imagine a whumper just completely ceasing any eye contact or conversation while Whumpee is being punished because attention is a reinforcer
Behaviorism is so fucked up

Maybe tmi but.
Mel means so much to me.
When I was a teenager (an obviously neurodivergent one at that, but undiagnosed at the time), I really wanted to go into healthcare. People close to me were quite discouraging - said that I am too sensitive, that the medical field will crash me. Soon enough, I started thinking that, too. After all, I, like Mel, tend to have a strong emotional reaction to things going awry. I get overwhelmed a lot. What kind of a provider would that make me?
Then there’s Mel.
To see such highly competent, emphatic character on screen, who still has those traits, still gets overwhelmed and cries and then gets back into the game…
It means a lot.

"no kevin, you're not getting it. this is not gay sex, kevin, it's practical historical research. it's a historical reenactment of what the greeks and romans were writing about. this is serious scholarship, kevin - put your back into it!"

If I'm being so honest and risking sounding like an idiot, I don't understand daylight savings time at all...... I don't know when it is. I don't know why it happens or why we still do it. I don't know why some US states (Arizona & Hawaii?) don't do it but the rest do. I don't know which time of the year we go forward vs backward. I don't remember if we get more or less sleep or more or less daylight. At best, I hear about it a few days before and make sure my other clocks match my phone at some point the day after. At worst, I just feel weird for a few days until someone brings it up and I'm like "ohhh that's why". The clock in my car has been one hour off since the last time the time changed (because I didnt remember/didn't care enough to change it) so for the last several months, I've just converted the time in my head to the correct hour. I left for work today and noticed that it's finally accurate again. I am not a stupid person, nor am I an ignorant person, and I'm generally pretty observant about most things, but I just can't seem to remember the specifics of daylights savings time and it doesn't really affect my life enough for me to care. I fear if I got caught in a time loop, it would take me a LONG time to even realize something is off.

*One day, after Usopp returns to Syrup Village for a visit*
Usopp: Kaya!! Hey Kaya!! *Runs toward her* How are you?!
Kaya: Oh I’m sorry sir, who are you?
Usopp: It’s me! Usopp!! Man have I got some crazy stories to tell you, and they’re all true!!
Kaya: What happened to you?
Usopp: I got ripped, thanks for noticing.
Kaya: as enticing as that is, that’s not what I mean.
Usopp: Than what do you mean?
Kaya: Usopp where’s the color in your skin? You look like a ghost.
Usopp: I honestly don’t know.
Ah yes. The de-melanin-ification of Usopp. My mortal enemy. My nemesis. My neme-sister if you will. Oh how I loathe ye.
Not only does his skin just keep getting lighter, his lips keeping getting pinker?? Like hello what math is being done here because lemme tell you!! It’s not adding up!!
The collective shock and joy Usopp Nation when we saw him in Fan Letter…Lives were changed, crops were watered, the dead rejoined the living. A true moment in her-story everyone once again say thank you to my goat, your goat, everyone’s goat: Megumi Ishitani.

hai thank u for ur answer. I’ve researched a lot through a lot of places! I’ve learned a lot from learning through people’s experiences too. I don’t think it’s bad to research at all. I think maybe in asking how to find credible sources without the dsm? and is the icd better or should we also treat it like the dsm? like if someone wants to know what the symptoms and extent/criteria of one disorder are - how can they know they’re getting the correct info? honestly. who comes up with this. like I thought the dsm and icd were like the “””official deciders of stuff with these disorders”” and without these “”official criteria”” how do we know one disorder vs another? how can it be decided what is a symptom of one thing vs another? I guess I’m trying to make sure I’m thinking not .. rigidly .. about things. and looking for more resources.
im not the best explainer but i will try my fricken hardest rn anon !!!!!
how do we know one disorder VS another? you dont. none of them are real. the only real part of a disorder is symptoms. disorders are not real. they are based on the society that you live in. i "have" schizophrenia because i have 2 or more positive "psychotic" symptoms for 6 months or longer. but i also have many other symptoms of many other disorders. the way it becomes a "disorder" is by severely negatively impacting my life, based on the society i live in. saying "i have schizophrenia" literally just means "i have the key for unlocking treatment to my symptoms." that's all diagnosis really does, unlock treatments. it doesnt mean your symptoms are more or less real or anything like that. the official criteria of literally everything is made up. i could make up a mental disorder right now called lunathedog syndrome and say that it includes every single mental symptom ive ever had in my life, and that is literally as real as "schizophrenia". that is to say, it's just a name i gave to a group of things. the only reason we socially say things like "i have schizophrenia" to peers is to communicate that i have a specific set of symptoms which disadvantage me in a certain way in the society i live in. it's literally just a random group of symptoms that humans have noticed appear together often. the symptoms are not necessarily actually related to eachother, they just appear frequently together. this is why when a person has 1 mental illness, its very likely that they have another one too - we are all just unique and individual soups of symptoms.
the ICD-11 is not like the DSM-5. the ICD-11 is used globally and is not focused on mental health disorders. it is still used to uphold hegemonic western values of course because disorders are based on the society you live in. as far as the mental disorders section goes, it's literally just diagnostic criteria as far as i remember and doesnt include any other information (like there's no fun facts or sections that go into extreme detail about anything. iirc the DSM is packed with info about everything in it and doesnt only include diagnostic criteria) if you want to know up to date and current diagnostic criteria for anything, use the ICD-11's criteria. this is what the rest of the world uses and is based on recent international research

heinrix regrowing his eye is still insane 2 me btw. you may think it's a grievous injury under that young interrogators eye patch but it's actually some sort of strange flesh creation he's reluctant to get any dust into. because how do you go about cleaning half an eyeball anyway?

"The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell."
Will stared at him. "What?"
Nico shuffled on his feet. "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell," he repeated. "That's some doctory stuff, right?"
Will laughed into his hand. "I'll explain more about it if you help me cut some gauze."
Nico agreed with a smile on his face.
