Me and the background are actually from the new banner I made for myself back on November 7th during Vylet Pony's stream (that doesn't exist anymore), I wanted to save posting it for later, and I saw that trans awareness week was just a week away, so this is also pretty much the full image of the banner I'll be using, just with changes I made for this week during yesterday's Vylet Pony stream.

Today marks the start of #TransAwarenessWeek. A time to stand in solidarity with the transgender community, celebrating their strength, resilience, and unwavering courage in the face of growing discrimination. Recently, we have seen an alarming rise in attacks on trans and LGBT+ rights, with seldom heard voices being silenced across health, education, and society. Now, more than ever, we must speak out, ensuring trans people are not just seen, but respected and valued.

Our post in celebrating Transgender Awareness Week highlights self-portraits by Kama La Mackerel (they/them).

La Mackerel is non-binary and multidisciplinary artist from Mauritius. Their work is grounded in the exploration of justice, love, healing, decolonization, and self- and collective empowerment.

“Their series entitled ‘Breaking the Promise of Tropical Emptiness: Trans Subjectivity in the Postcard’ strongly and humorously redefines the typical aesthetic of postcards from Mauritius, more often than not reduced to the demonstration of luxuriant exoticism, presenting lush, sunny and wild landscapes that bear no trace of civilization.”

La Mackrel’s works are included in Transgalactic: photography, genre, transition. The front cover image for the publication features a self-portrait by Juliana Huxtable, an African American writer, performer, and DJ. “Her work is inspired by comic and Afrofuturist mythologies. Huxtable reinvents the art of the self-portrait to compose avatars in which her own image hybridizes with all kinds of creatures, from the animal to the digital, in order to evoke the infinite fluidity of her own gender identity.”

Artists featured in Transgalactic: photography, genre, transition explore a possible panorama of the role played by photography in the construction of their (trans) gender.

It is trans awareness week and I really don’t have many things to say about that this week. If you follow me you’ve probably learned a thing or two about weather, storm chasing, or photography from me. If not, I hope you someday do. I also hope to learn from you. Just remember all people are human and all people deserve respect and dignity. People are different. People are interesting. Be curious, find new friends, live your life. Happy Trans Awareness Week! I published an op-ed in @time 🏳️‍⚧️A few months ago I went through a challenging targeted media attack. I was harassed, doxxed, and received death threats daily. I’m no stranger to receiving hateful comments online, but this experience was unprecedented. Everything I posted in June was met with over-sexualized comments, transphobic rhetoric, and hateful vitriol. I found it paradoxical how the same people could slut-shame me for being a woman, while simultaneously calling me a “man”. This later led me to have conversations and to journal about my feelings of being over-sexualized and harmed due to trans misogyny. Thus came my Op-Ed, “The Desire to Cruelty Pipeline: The Oversexualization and Violence Toward Trans Women.” Go read it and then comment here what you thought!

Trans Awareness Week

Hi everyone it is apparently #TransAwarenessWeek and I wanted to say that for everyone out there who is trans on the spectrum or even just an ally, whether you are open about your gender or not, you are brave, you are valid and you are loved. If anyone sees this and is curious and is curious about my story, I was raised in the Antelope Valley during the 90s and 2000s and was surrounded by religion and societal expectations, while my father had his problems he accepted me and loved me no matter my orientation or gender, the problem is was my parents are/were divorced and my mother hated my father for leaving her for a man and made me unconsciously hate myself for what I was. I grew up KNOWING secretly I was a girl and everyone was lying to me about being a boy. I grew up relating more to girls than boys and loving femininity. The problem was that I would get beat down by teachers classmates and even family every time I tried to accept it; Even when I rebelled I felt too scared to completely accept myself and even into early adulthood I let my significant other control my gender expression by giving into her ideas for attractiveness and adapting to it. After our breakup and my suicidal mental breakdowns I started my life over, went to therapy and started school again Over the years of therapy and school I met other LGBT people who accepted me and gained a level of awareness and confidence to express who I was: A Pansexual Trans Girl. This is just how I have always felt. And I am valid, just as are all LGBT people as all TRANS people are.
