I love your concepts for Penrose and Terminal!! Do they have full refs yet other than the description in the orginal text post? And if you don’t mind could you tell a couple facts about them /nf (I’m literally so obsessed with their concepts already and I saw the post like ten minutes ago so sorry if I spam liked a bit😭😭)

unfortunately all i have is this really scuffed sketch of terminal in the way of visual references. i can give super in depth text descriptions if that'd be helpful? the self loathing really gets in the way of me doing art SOB

as far as facts go, i have been rotating these goobers in brain for well over a month SO HERE WE GO

both terminal and penrose have the ability to hop dimensions. terminal does so by navigating his directory of timelines, selecting the one he wants to go to, and running the "teleport" method. penrose uses inert ink to build bridges in the void that can traverse timelines.

terminal's SOUL is protected by the white hole its inside, and so it can't be reached by blue magic, can't be taken from his body, and can't be pierced by penrose's fountain pen

as a whole, terminal is immune to penrose's black hole due to his body being made entirely of garbage code. if penrose cuts off an arm for example, it glitches out into nothingness rather than turn into usable ink

terminal hates when things are illogical, as fallacious reasoning can cause exceptions and infinite loops in his code. he will often get stuck ruminating, where his eyes will turn black and you see a bunch of white text running by. he has an automatic function to reboot his system if a loop continues for 5 minutes

terminal also has a button on the back of his neck that causes a force restart if held for ten seconds.

different colors of SOUL INK give penrose different emotions while they're burning. his least favorite type is KINDNESS, because it makes him feel remorse for the people he kills and the timelines he destroys.

when penrose has absorbed a lot of PATIENCE, he tends to be very aloof and almost toys with his prey. he'll often put his fountain pen away for most of the fight and use swords, just for the thrill of the fight. but as soon as he gets bored penny appears again

penrose has figured out a method of storing SOUL INK in vials, similar to ink sans. however, the vials are incredibly small as storing large amounts of SOUL INK in one container often causes it to explode and the ink to become useless

penrose's vials are more like sauce packets of soul juice

because the vials are so small, penrose will keep an extensive stock of them in his coat. he'll open his coat and it looks like shelves TwT

the only timeline penrose will never touch is UnderShonen, because he knows terminal watches it.

i have so much more but i will save it for future lore posts ^^ and i will prolly repost some of these facts in their own lore posts

my take on a swap!error and swap!ink

i do not have art because i hate everything i ever draw.

was inspired by @unu-nunu-art's goobers template and pale I LOVE THEM SO MUCH WHAT GOOBERS so i made my swapped my own error and ink

these two keep the original personalities, but swap their roles of creation vs destruction

(working duo title is the Vacant Souls, VS!Error and VS!Ink)

PENROSE SANS

Penrose does not remember much about anything. He had a timeline. He was happy. He was an artist, he thinks.

Then, emptiness. Penrose's SOUL was consumed by a black hole. His body is completely empty, eaten away by the black hole. He feels nothing, with no SOUL to fuel emotion.

The first time he awoke after emptiness, he was falling apart. His body being melted down into ink and pulled in by the vacuum inhabiting his chest.

Toriel was looking down at him, her body starting to melt the same way.

It was instinct. He doesn't even remember why he did it. His stringy liquified arm shot out and pierced her chest. Her SOUL.

Bright white liquid flowed out of Toriel's smeared form. SOUL INK.

Penrose's black hole drank the ink and his body solidified again.

Penrose's SOUL was consumed by a black hole due to an error in his timeline's code. The black hole turns all around it into ink which it consumes. The only reason Penrose himself is able to survive is by satiating the vacuum, fueling it with ink.

Penrose can summon mini versions of his black hole to attack, turning other people's bodies into ink instantaneously. Additionally, Penrose has a large fountain pen in place of Broomie. The pen's tip has a mini black hole in it, which he uses to pierce SOULs.

There are two kinds of ink to Penrose, inert ink and SOUL INK. Inert ink is obtained when any matter is consumed by Penrose's black hole. SOUL INK is specific to liquified SOULs.

Inert ink does not function well as fuel, it burns quickly and is better suited for use in creation. Penrose can use inert ink to create things such as swords, terrain, anything that can be thought of truly.

SOUL INK is Penrose's treasure. It is what keeps his black hole at bay. Different colors of SOUL provide different things and cause him to feel different things. Bravery burns fast and causes him to act brash, but can be used to create fire magic. Perseverance burns slow and calm, but can make him less willing to act.

Visually, Penrose is very classy. He wears a tan suit and coat with a white ruffle. His eyelights change colors to be a blend of whatever SOUL INK he's currently burning, with higher quantities being more present. He wields a huge fountain pen named Penny as his main weapon, but likes to use silver swords as well.

TERMINAL SANS

An error. That's all he is. An error in the code. Never meant to happen.

What can someone do when they know they aren't meant to exist? When their home forced them out because of it?

What can someone do when they know they're not the only one?

Terminal was an error caused by a white hole, another thing that's not meant to exist. His SOUL is inside of the white hole, and the white hole sits inside his chest.

Where a black hole consumes all, a white hole creates all. It took Terminal a great deal of time to get accustomed to having his SOUL encased in a force of omnipotent creation.

In time, Terminal learned how to control this power. How to summon white holes and get them to create what he wants them to create.

Once mastered the power of creation, Terminal swore an oath.

Any error that can be prevented, will be prevented. Any error that cannot, will be protected.

Terminal is an error. His body is assembled from garbage code and his SOUL is encased inside a white hole.

Terminal can tap into the code of any timeline. He summons command prompts to access code. (Terminal runs arch btw) He can also use programming to create things, such as his signature golden axe programmed to deal 99999 damage.

Terminal uses mini white holes to conjure things.

Terminal lives in the Posivoid, which differs from the Antivoid in that it is full of things Terminal has created. The Posivoid essentially acts like the Omega Timeline, in that outcodes and errors can live there without any requirement.

Terminal doesn't have strings, but he can conjure transparent white cubes that function as protection. These cubes can be put over SOULs, SAVE POINTs, individual bits of code, really anything. He can teleport cubes to anywhere in his vision, allowing him to rescue SOULs in danger by shielding and teleporting them to safety.

Terminal's main role is protecting timelines from errors occurring. He's coded an army of tiny cartoonish spiders which he calls Debuggers that he plants in timelines to watch for corrupted code.

When a timeline gets corrupted, Terminal connects to it, pauses it, and rewrites the corrupted code. If he can't catch the error in time, the resulting outcode is brought to the Posivoid.

Visually, Terminal wears a baggy hoodie and shorts that have cube decals on it. His hood is up. His skeleton is mostly black, with reflections of CMY light. His eyelights are black, while his sclera changes color with every blink. Three cubes of descending size hang behind his head like a ponytail. CMY colored streaks blur his lineart.

idk if you're still doing these but how do you think the animorphs would do against the original X-Men?

[Obligatory joke about the X-Men having an advantage because they cloned Jake to make Bobby.]

Animorphs Advantages

Trust in leadership. Full offense to Scott, but he can be bossy and overbearing to the point where it causes infighting. Jake's team will not hesitate to go up against impossible odds at his command, and basically never questions his orders in the heat of battle.

Flight hours. Warren might outweigh Tobias by a good 200 pounds, but he doesn't spend literally 15+ hours a day 7 days a week flying around hunting. And Tobias gets very good at taking out bigger opponents like David's golden eagle or the helmacron ship.

Adaptability. The Animorphs can survive in most environments most of the time, and are nigh unkillable. Jean can be taken out by a rock to the head. Scott can be taken out by a rock to Jean's head.

X-Men Advantages

Coordinated attacks. They can and do hit their enemies from multiple fonts at once: Warren goes high while Hank goes low, Jean goes mental as Bobby goes physical, so on. The Animorphs' weapons are all variations on hitting or stabbing their enemies up close.

Sheer raw power. Scott can punch a hole in a mountain. Jean may or may not be able to destroy entire planets. Bobby can make an entire city in the time it takes Scott to level one.

The fact that they actually go to school. Hank's obviously the one with the big advantage over the C- average high school dropouts, but Scott, Bobby, and Jean are also smart enough to be teachers in some continuities.

Animorphs Disadvantages

Distance. This is always their drawback, but they only have melee attacks. Scott, Jean, and Bobby can all attack from half a mile away.

Leaky communication. A ton of their strategy depends on being able to talk to each other without their enemies hearing. Even if they figure out that Jean can hear every word they're saying, they're going to be massively hampered by their inability to talk privately during battles.

X-Men Disadvantages

Compassion. Assuming that this is winner-take-all no-holds-barred fight, the X-Men will not only hesitate to kill, but are likely to stop fighting if one of their own is killed. The Animorphs have no such pangs of conscience, or at least don't let those stop them.

Lack of control. All of them are, to some extent, afraid of their own powers or hesitant to use them. You don't see Rachel beating herself up about what'd happen if she let the beast win or got too much phoenix power.

Conclusion: I'm giving this one to the mutants. Sorry, morphers.
