Huge fan of the way everyone and their mom decided to comment on Netanyahu's threats towards Syria and what Israel's been trying to do in Syria, yet all these same people have nothing to say about Iran and hezbollah backing a sectarianism coup while helping pro assadist thugs target and attack 5 different Syrian hospitals and killing 10 people in a masjid after Maghreb during the month of Ramadan JUST last night. (Total number of martyrs is estimated to be over 60).

Interesting how Israel, which has always been a threat to the entire Middle East, is immediately discussed by everyone as it tries to stir up tensions in Syria to further its goals, but when Iran is on the same page with Israel regarding Syria, and does the exact same thing, only with more success, after it helped commit massacre 1 million Syrians and displace 14 million others, it's crickets.

I'm watching Little Mosque on the Prairie (because I'm back in my "Watching TV shows that I could have watched while they were airing but didn't, so I'm watching them years later" phase) and it's nice to see that even in small town Saskatchewan there can be a diverse Muslim community. For example, one of them is Torontonian,

#I'd say the show was ahead of its time but realistically it came out at the right time #In that in the post-9/11 2000s a sitcom that portrayed Islam and Muslims in a non-stereotypical way existed #It helps that it was created by a Canadian Muslim #Who I think also lives in Saskatchewan fjdklajkfds #It does kinda taper off on some themes the early seasons had but I guess that's what being a sitcom is for you

Sometimes I see some hate about the way that rick wrote Samirah Al-Abbas' religion in mcga, and as a muslim girl passing through that stage in her life I wanted to throw my hat into the ring. Samirah, for me, is such a realistic character, and I don't think rick even intended what I see when I think of her. She has her own understanding of what her faith means and I was so bowled over by the scene where she prays in the direction that feels right because she's just doing the best that she can! She's far away from home and there's nothing about this in the Qur'an but despite that all she still has faith in her deen and I think that that's so powerful. Even with this massive understanding of life and faith though she's still not perfect! She's still a girl with a crush and and axe and her wits doing the best that she can and sometimes she takes steps that other people would tear her apart for.

HOWEVER I still think that rick didn't do his research because I KNOW you did not do that on purpose, you were just spitballing and went "oh her found family? Yeah that's DEFINITELY her mahram"

i do have to say in this shitshow of a world currently that i've started wearing my magen david out again recently and i've gotten a ton of compliments on it which is... really nice. like it's so sad that the bar is basically underground re: being nice to jews but
